My take on the MTG card “Heartless Hidetsugu” .
I really wanted to convey the massive amount of damage that he can unleash reducing every players live by half with each swing.
I wanted to keep as much as I could from his original design like the girdle with the bones. But move him more to an oni look.

one guy I play with a lot has this card. He also has vtuber themed alters of demonic consultation and thassas Oracle, and fucking heartless hidetsugu
If im ever playing mtg and the ojou smothering tithe gets cast im straight up killing myself
playing this card was already the most discourteous thing you could possibly do at a table and now i gotta see a hot smug noblewoman laughing at me while i slowly lose the game

6/10/2023 - One Hundred Billion Stars
Forever is one of those strange concepts that we have a word for but can't personally experience. In a technical sense it's "until the end of time;" that's something we won't be around for. So when we use it, it means something completely different based on the context. Forever is how long I had to wait until you came into my life the way you did. It's how long those three months you were here felt. It's how long the last full day I spent with you was. It's how long I have to wait to see you again. And it's how much time I want to spend with you. It's unfortunate that it can't be until the end of time, but I can settle for a little bit less than that.
Not much happened this week. On tuesday, I drove to albany for the symposium. Traffic on the way there as well as the brightness of the day made it kind of hard to drive, but on the way back since it was so late, the lack of traffic and darkness made it much easier. I gave Mr. Bott a focaccia, which he could not eat, but he said that his children and parents enjoyed it. The symposium itself was nice. I hope you can come to it next year. I want Mr. Bott to meet you, since you're so important to me. He's important in the sense that he's probably the closest thing to a father figure that I had in high school, while not quite getting there. I didn't disobey him enough for that to be the reality. You'd understand why some aspects of me are the way they are if you had a brief conversation with him.
I didn't go anywhere else this week, other than magic club. I lost two games and then won with rem karolus doing a heartless hidetsugu + furnace of rath combo. I like quick games. I also ordered the parts for shelob a few days ago, after I saw an article reporting huge price spikes on arachnogenesis. I think I was right to do so, because there were five copies of it on hareruya before and only one left when I placed my order. It's cheaper than the previous few decks I've made, I think. Not exactly a surprise since it's a tribal deck where most of the tribal cards are just random 2/3s for 3 with reach. The most expensive part is the landbase. It's definitely something I'm going to tinker with more over time. Other than that, I ended up finishing the latest randomized elden ring run with lint. And this morning I woke up early to go see one of the apartments you told me to email about, but I'll tell you about that more when we talk. We're running out of rice and chili powder so I might have to go get some tomorrow.
I don't really have anything else to look forward to doing at the moment, since the symposium was that one thing. I guess this is just how things were before you, but in your shadow it all seems more boring. I started reading the book you told me to read, but I'm only about 20 pages in since I get distracted easily. Once I'm actually further in, I'll start writing about it in earnest. I'll find something to do. I started cleaning around here more, since I feel guilty about not doing that enough. But I know there has to be more here than playing games and cleaning and making food. I might visit david at some point, but who knows if that will actually happen...really it's up to him to decide if he has the time. But yeah, I'll figure something out. I know you wouldn't want me to feel sad and bored here.
I love you, princess. I hope we can talk soon. You bring so much joy into my life.

Deck of the Day/Substitutions "lose half his or her life"
Deck of the Day - Rakdos, (aka "I'll take half")
So, being that Magic's well of spoilers is running dry (Though a cool history of High & Dry today), and we're about to start the rainy season of spoilers, I decided to start reviewing some of my decks and card interactions in them (yes, yes, I do need to finish the article about playing Lawful Evil). I won't put full decklists (unless requested) because a skeleton can be built upon, and one of the best parts about Magic is making each deck your own.
For today's I just picked at random, choosing my Rakdos Commander deck. It's one I built pretty early on when starting to play Commander, when I wanted to make sure I had every guild represented. As such, it's had a few updates.
Rakdos, Lord of Riots could have a few play styles, such as direct damage, demon Tribal (especially with the other Rakdos), or just combat and chaos. One of my earliest inclusions was Master of Cruelties. It's a great card to build around, and can work especially well with the Lord of Riots (Imagine an unharmed or life-gaining opponent suddenly dropping to one life, and then casting a free 20/20 or more Hangarback Walker).
But one card out of ninety nine doesn't really define a deck. And in true Rakdos party fashion the deck doesn't care if it kills itself having fun. Scytheclaw takes half of a player's life, though it is a nonbo with Master of Cruelties, since it doesn't end up dealing combat damage. So I added Havoc Festival, also allowing life totals to quickly drop, and making sure they wouldn't bounce back up. Quietus Spike was moved from my Ping deck (Deathtouch works quite well on Prodigal Pyromancers/Sorcerors), and behaves much like the Scytheclaw. And even though it's random, I put in a Raving Dead. I didn't include Blood Tribute (all of my copies are in Vampire decks), and Heartless Hidetsugu stayed in my Nin, the Pain Artist (Ping) deck.
Still, perhaps the icing on the cake is that the deck also includes Wound Reflection, meaning half damage is basically lethal. Games with this deck tend to go quickly, but that tends to be good if you're waiting on a few more players to arrive or something.

Hi Mark! My favorite deck is a commander with no ways or intentions to win but full of big mad cards that change the rules of the game, make the other players go mad, create chaos on the board, etc. What type of mtg player am I (I also have a lovely Heartless Hidetsugu commander and I generally really hate seeing too many creatures on the board)?
It depends on your motivation to do that.
Because you like how it makes you feel? You're a Timmy/Tammy.
Because it reflects something about who you are? You're a Johnny/Jenny
Because you wanted to prove that you could do it well? You're a Spike.

Commander of the Week
Licia, Sanguine Tribune
It's been so long, and I have a really interesting take on Licia. Her ability hints a life gain build with the ability to pay life in order to make her more powerful. But what if we were to do the opposite of gain life and instead focus on getting to the lowest possible life in order to kill people with life manipulation effects. That is the Licia deck that I have in mind.
Throwing your life away
My original draft of this deck had many more ways to lose your own life but some of those methods weren't creature based or were really expensive to cast essentially leaving me open to damage from other sources which makes the win conditions even more unpredictable. I've found Wall of Blood, Erebos, God of the Dead and Treasonous Ogre to be very effective creature-based ways of losing large amounts of life. Each player's life can be quickly dropped with cards like Fraying Omnipotence, Torgaar, Famine Incarnate and Heartless Hidetsugu. Virtus the Veiled is also good for whittling life totals if he gets through.
Turning the Tables
I've confused many people with how this deck works, and then completely surprised them when they potentially die at the same time. Repay in Kind is the main win condition, but anything that switches life totals is good too, such as Soul Conduit, Reverse the Sands and Axis of Immortality. Of course Demonic Pact and Harmless Offering are also in the deck to quickly wipe out an unprepared player. Near-Death Experience is also in here just for lols but I don't think it'll ever win that way.
Going Sub-Zero
There may be a chance that you may have to go below zero life while playing this deck. So unless you have a way to prevent a loss from this such as Phyrexian Unlife, Lich's Mastery or Platinum Angel, it's going to be pretty miserable, but if you do, it will make the victory all the sweeter. Stunning Reversal, Worship and Angel's Grace can also stop the inexorable crawl towards death by giving you an extra turn or two to find a way to level the playing field.
Other Useful Cards
The usual suspects such as Ghostly Prison, Norn's Annex and Windborn Muse and True Believer can slow down external damage and give you a nice controlled decline towards zero life. Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs is another of my favourite cards because it deters ground based combat. Evra, Halcyon Witness is another super quick way to reduce your life total to potentially end the game that turn. And then anything that allows you to pay life for perks is also good such as Necropotence, Bitterblossom and Phyrexian Processor.
And Finally...
I've wanted to build a deck with this strategy since I found Repay in Kind when it was first released, I just wish there were more cards with this effect. Lands could include the pain lands such as Battlefield Forge, Caves of Koilos and Sulfurous Springs, as well as City of Brass and Mana Confluence that help that decline. Fetch lands also work, though they are expensive. I love the idea of this deck and hope I can find a way to make it work better. I do hope you find this both helpful and fun and until next time. Happy Deck Building
