A joint study by Yale University and George Mason University found that those who are disengaged, doubtful, or dismissive of climate change tend to highly trust healthcare providers on the subject. They rank their primary care providers as their first or second most trusted source for climate change information — even higher than public officials from agencies like NASA and news organizations. [...] “Our research shows that when people learn about climate as a health issue, it’s depolarizing,” she said. ��So, not only are primary care physicians effective messengers, but the topic of health is something that people can understand and it allows them to approach the issue of climate change in ways that aren’t polarized or colored by all their viewpoints or identities that they hold.”  [...] The Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health and its 30 state-level affiliates, including Georgia Clinicians for Climate Action, are training healthcare providers on climate communication through fellowships, advocacy work, and educational materials.  [...] In 2020, the National Academy of Medicine launched the multi-year Climate Grand Challenge, a commitment to improve the communication of climate change as a health issue as well as to address systemic issues such as the carbon footprint of the health sector. while i definitely get everyone's reasoning, it's a bit funny that ford trying to restrict his diet to healthy food is such a popular hc cos the family spoiled stan for a week by giving him all his fave foods (to the point that they just have like. bowls of bacon on the floor) plus we have ford being the one to give stan alcohol on multiple occasions and i doubt anyone can break stan's pitt cola addiction....

also if ford still keeps up his training regime i think stan would bully him for that- 'oh look at me i do 1000 pushups every morning and eat steamed carrots for fun!!' 'nutrition pills actually' 'that's worse!!!!! you do know that right!!!'

The Missing Radio Tower post had an update so it’s going around again and my mentions are unusable (it’s fine), so I’m not necessarily seeing what people are saying. About anything. My queue is half-tagged and I’m going back as things post and putting tags in. We are in the home stretch towards getting the pain block for my herniated disc, which will be on Monday, and I’m sleeping a lot.

Tomorrow I have TWO doctor consults, one of which I had forgotten until I got an email reminder. I’m nervous that my new surgeon will either say “You need surgery” (bad!!!!), or he will say, “You don’t need surgery and you’re already seeing a spinal pain clinic, why are you wasting my time,” and I will get a bad grade in seeing doctors.

(He looks friendly on the hospital website though. He’s actually the one who replaced my original surgeon, who left a few years back, which I am never getting over because I loved him. THANKS CHICAGO.)

I’ll write up the results of tomorrow’s visits (after resting a bit, I’m sure), and probably put that on the Patreon. Anyway, this is an update on me, since I have some new folks coming in from the Missing Tower post and probably the political ones as well, and my pinned post indicates that I actually write things now and then. Yeahhhh, I’m currently writing only on my phone because I can’t sit up to use a laptop. We persevere.

Personally I really enjoy projecting OCD tendencies onto Shadow. Both because misery loves company, and also I think that Rouge and Omega would be so up to that challenge as supportive tough-love friends. You have an unflappable, pro-explosions realist, and a woman who could out-loophole a genie. Compulsions and Intrusive Thoughts have met their match.
