#He finds her interesting and would sometimes watch her during her trials

Note
I haven't seen much of this, but what about Danganronpa x Ranpo!reader (from bsd). Like, everyone in the trial is trying to figure out the murderer, and the reader is just standing there, already knowing the identity of the killer-
Personally I would prefer if the reader was in Danganronpa V3, mostly because I enjoy the cast more. But that does mean that the reader can't be the ultimate detective, so you can make the reader be in Danganronpa 2 if you want :)
Extra comment:
"all's well that's well for me!"
ft. Danganronpa V3 Cast, Ranpo!reader
synopsis. You find yourself trapped in a school, with 16 other students and forced into a killing game! But don't worry, you're the ultimate Private Investigator!
warnings. Spoiler to the Danganronpa V3 game, mentions of death, kinda short
This was fun to make :) I had to rewatch BSD though, I feel like I haven't watched it in a while 😅
·˚✎ straight off the bat, you would annoy the hell out of Maki
·˚✎ you are just plain rude sometimes, and you seem like you don't take things seriously at all, which is just a huge red flag for Maki
·˚✎ like calling everyone stupid, or not helping with investigations and just simply snacking in your room
·˚✎ in some way, you're kinda like Kokichi
·˚✎ speaking of Kokichi, he would take an interest in you. You're just... So carefree. Just like him.
·˚✎ but he could tell for sure that you were not what you seemed. I can imagine you and Kokichi having a small competition to who's smarter.
·˚✎ Kaito thought you were low-key creepy. Because you just didn't seem to be bothered. You only looked slightly shocked when Monokuma announced the killing game, but after a while you returned to your calm face.
·˚✎ Kaede kinda liked your carefree attitude. But she also found you a bit rude, which didn't cause her to be very close with you
·˚✎ Shuichi was always caught off guard when with you, so he didn't really become friends with you until after the first trial. When he began to realise your intelligence.
·˚✎ speaking of the first trial (haha amazing transition), you didn't really do much to help. During the investigation, you just went back to your room. So everyone thought you were being lazy and selfish.
·˚✎ but then when everyone was driven to a corner, you stepped in and helped everyone.
·˚✎ literally no one expected you, who didn't even help with the investigations, to have figured everything out. But that's when you pulled a "I'll let the main character do everything" move. (Flashback to "tell them Naegi")
·˚✎ like, you'd be the Kyoko Kirigiri of Danganronpa V3, just more annoying and more lazy.
·˚✎ although, when it came to Kaede not being the actual killer, that was probably the one thing you accidentally overlooked. And it was only until later that you realized that Kaede might not actually be the killer of Rantaro. Or maybe you were already killed before you figured it out
·˚✎ slowly, everyone took a liking for your personality, because you were pretty trustworthy

Luna's Review: Variable Barricade
Official Summary:
Hibari is the sole heir to her family’s fortune. Her grandfather is determined to find her a husband. He houses her in a luxurious home with handsome bachelors. As the men try to win her hand, Hibari endures endless trials and temptations. Has Grandpa chosen poorly, or is there more to these men than meets the eye? Hibari decides NOT to fall in love.
Luna's Thoughts (Spoiler Free)
Variable Barricade is a fairly straightforward plot, which isn't a bad thing. Sometimes you just wanna watch a socially-inept tsundere girl fall in love, right?
Hibari is a fun protagonist right off the bat, because she is, at heart, a total failgirl. A lot of otoge protagonists are just kind of generic try-hard heroines, but with Hibari, she starts off a total loser with only a single friend outside of her butler. She seems dignified at first but is quickly revealed to be socially isolated and completely unable to even go outside alone. When given the chance for friendship, she makes a complete fool of herself. We get to see her develop alongside her romantic interests and enjoy how they influence her in different ways. She's so pathetic that it's cute.
The real MVP of this game is her only friend Tsumugi, who serves as the audience surrogate as she tries to ship Hibari with...well, anyone, really. She's an otaku and a gothic lolita, and most importantly, she loves Hibari for who she is and just wants what's best for her.
Something I really loved about this game is how the suitors develop friendships of their own. They're competing for Hibari's affections, yes, but they support each other as well, and actually encourage Hibari to be affectionate with the other suitors of they've earned it. You can tell they all actually do like Hibari and each other, and are willing to give up if it means happiness for her and someone else.
It's not a flawless game. There are a few routes that I didn't love, some abuse references that aren't given the attention they deserve, and definitely a few unhealthy tropes and questionable morals. There's also not a lot of attention given to the "red flags" of each suitor outlined in the common route, which seemed like they were going to be the core of the game. But I ultimately loved the cast of fun characters and snappy dialogue.
While this isn't the deepest or richest plotline available in the otoge market, Variable Barricade is a fun game that plays out like an anime, with lots of attention given to each character, including side characters. The art is eye-catching and consistent, the pacing is decent and relationships develop naturally as Hibari lets down her guard around her new friends.
Please find below my thoughts on the character routes in the order I played them. Spoilers abound.
.
Shion Route (Spoilers)
As per usual, I picked the character I liked least during the common route to start with. This was a good choice, as I think Shion's route was the biggest misstep in this game.
This isn't due to the route itself, which was decently paced, if not a bit repetitive — they go back to the same art museum three times, for example, and Hibari gets tricked by a child twice in a row. No, my issues with this route are more about the morality of it.
Shion is a "kept man," which is a term I had never heard before this game. He basically has lived his adult life with sugar daddies, doesn't work and has always had his needs attended to with other peoples' money. Nobody except Hibari and her butler seem to think this is a problem. (Side note: as this was the first route I played, I figured Kasuga would dislike all her suitors, but no, it's only Shion, which is hilarious.)
Shion's role in the game is to show Hibari that it's ok to make choices for herself sometimes, rather than always considering what's best for her family name, which our heiress protagonist struggles with. There's a scene in which Hibari is running herself ragged for a thing at school, and while all the other boys try to get her to take time off, Shion seems to understand that Hibari won't listen. Instead, he offers his support by spritzing her hair with calming scented spray, and letting her know he's there for her. It was rather sweet.
However, it was difficult for me to sympathize with Shion because he truly believes he doesn't need to work. For every patron he had, Shion allegedly provided a "service," whether that be to serve as eye candy or just a friend. He believes that belonging to someone is as good as a job. I know that Hibari is an heiress and anyone she marries won't need to work, but man, as someone who isn't wealthy, this is such a weird thing to buy into lmao.
In his scenes away from Hibari, we find out Shion wants to free Hibari from the chains of her family name. Allegedly he falls in love with her along the way, but it never felt like he actually loved her. It was more like he wanted to find someone he could live for exclusively, because nobody has ever actually needed him for an extended period of time. It felt like there were a bunch of psychological issues that just weren't addressed at all.
Also, while he says he'll be whatever Hibari needs, he actually doesn't cook or clean or do anything he doesn't feel like. So he's not even good enough to be considered a house husband. He's also shown to be standoffish to anyone who isn't Hibari. Not exactly a good trait for someone who's supposed to be the spouse of the head of the Tojo family.
Shion's route would have been better if he had been more vulnerable. Instead, he directly admits to manipulating Hibari. When she tells him to get a job, he does so — not because he wants to work hard for her, but because he wants her to feel bad that he's away. He literally tells another character that he wants to make her cry. It was pretty messed up.
Shion's character is also coded like an abuse victim, which is not ever fleshed out. His father abandoned him twice. His patrons continue to send him gifts, even though he doesn't ask for them, and sometimes they even do things like kidnap him. In another route, he implies more than one of his patrons has threatened suicide if Shion tried to leave. None of this is ever treated like a problem.
All in all, Shion's route was just...bizarre. I don't see how the average person would relate to the values conveyed.
.
Nayuta Route (Spoilers)
I was really interested in Nayuta's route, because while he's a sweet boy, he truly felt like the least romantic option. Hibari says more than once that she views him as more of a puppy than a human. I was excited to see how he would become a man in her eyes. But I was surprised when the route took the opposite turn, and it's Hibari who falls for him first.
Nayuta, it turns out, was entirely sincere is his desire to protect Hibari, as he comes from a family of security workers. He met Hibari once when working a part time job and decided she was his ideal client due to her strong sense of justice. This is also when he developed his weird fetish for being stepped on, which is hilarious and also somewhat plot relevant.
Nayuta is able to switch into bodyguard mode when he's working, and while he's very cool, Hibari finds herself missing the casual, cheery Nayuta, while also falling in love with the mature Nayuta who protects her. But Nayuta never actually considered himself a candidate for her groom — he literally just wants to be her bodyguard.
This is a very different route from Shion's route, in a good way. Where Shion spent the entire route manipulating Hibari into needing him, Nayuta is able to prove he's an asset simply by doing. The romance developed naturally and I enjoyed learning the backstory and motivations of who I originally thought would be a simple character.
I did wonder where the "walking debt machine" plot went. It's completely irrelevant beyond the common route so it seemed weird to even mention it at the beginning.
The second half of this route was pretty predictable, with Nayuta stupidly misinterpreting his own feelings and Hibari sulking about it. The ending scenes are wild, silly and dramatic in a Power Rangers sort of way.
While it was a fairly predictable end to the route, it was fun and felt fitting for a boy like Nayuta who, in the end, just wanted to be Hibari's hero. Of the four suitors, this was my favorite route.
.
.
.
Taiga Route (Spoilers)
I didn't love Taiga at the start of the common route. Abrasive and rude with an alleged gambling problem, there didn't seem to be any positives to him. But by the end of the common route, you learn he's a good kid with an allegiance to orphaned children. He works hard and doesn't want to rely on others.
Before his route, Taiga actually shined the most for me on the Shion and Nayuta routes. He is shown to be extremely mature in his decisions and seems to have a deep grasp on others' emotions and motivations. You really can't judge a book by its cover.
Of course, upon playing his route, you find out there's a reason he's so observant and never treated Hibari romantically. Naturally, he starts to fall for her anyway, which was cute. You gotta love the tsundere x tsundere dynamic. And I loved how Hibari's grandfather is friends with Taiga and ships him with his granddaughter.
The first half of his route was a little too pervy for me, even if the perviness was played up because Taiga was trying convince the other boys he wasn't a threat. But eventually he declares himself a proper marriage candidate and most of that goes away.
However, Taiga pretty much immediately changes his tune after he decides to pursue Hibari. Once it becomes obvious she's into him, he gets cold feet and decides to give up. The rest of the route is somewhat predictable, but I still enjoyed watching Hibari and Taiga figure out the intricacies of how to treat one another.
I will say the pacing of this route was not great. I don't get why Taiga declared himself a candidate, only to very quickly decide to quit participating. The route would have been a whole lot smoother if he'd just never said anything in the first place. Maybe the point was to show how wishy-washy he is, but it just made the pacing feel weird. The gambling addiction is briefly addressed in the first half as well, but is never treated like a big deal, making me wonder why it was brought up in the first place.
.
.
.
Ichiya Route (Spoilers)
Ichiya is the flirty character of this game, which is a trope I don't love, so I thought I would hate him. I didn't like him very much in most of the common route. But his level one board reveals that he is actually a complete failboy, and I love that for him. In his route, there's a scene of him crying under a sheet and when I saw it I thought "He's so lame. I love him SO much."
Ichiya's route was a little topsy turvy, and a bit more meta than I expected. There's some overarching commentary about falling in love that felt really self-aware for an otoge. The first part of the route is mostly about Ichiya realizing that his method of attracting women is flawed. He does some stupid stuff and it takes Hibari getting furious for him to realize he needs to cool it.
The second half of the route, however, lacks a clear narrative. It starts off with Ichiya's twin brother revealing himself (even though we already knew who it was), setting up for a twin vs. twin dynamic.
I never knew how I was supposed to feel about Kazuya, because it's left ambiguous as to whether he's just inept at expressing himself or a cold, calculating bastard. You're supposed to believe he was an absolute jerk the entire route, only at the end for him to say "jk, I was just mad at you for walking out on me so I was having a little fun." Then he says he really was pursuing HIbari after all. I don't understand if I'm meant to like him or not.
This route could have done with some tightening up, because it felt like four or five mini arcs rather than a consistent plot. However, it was refreshing to see a realistic view of love. When Hibari asks why it has to be her, Ichiya is unable to answer, and in the end, he still isn't. He tells her honestly that just because there are other people he could have fallen for, that doesn't make his feelings any less valid. And Hibari realizes that's good enough.
Rather than try and force some sort of soulmates plot, Ichiya's route is more about finding happiness with another person in a realistic way. I actually appreciated that a lot.
The thing that really upset me about this route is how Ichiya threatens suicide if Hibari doesn't choose him. That is a classic abuse tactic, and it felt very weird and gross, even if he only did it because Kasuga suggested it. It was an icky, manipulative way to end what was otherwise a decent route.

True Route (Light Spoilers)
I knew as soon as I started the game who the true end would be focused on. But I can promise you, whatever you're expecting from the true end, it's wrong. The true end of "Variable Barricade" is not a romance route and does not provide a satisfactory end to the game.
It does clarify some of the overlying mysteries of the series, like what happened to Hibari's parents and how she developed into such a failgirl. But I was NOT expecting the major twist of this route, even though looking back, there was one fairly obvious sign.
The true route felt like someone jumping out behind a corner and yelling "gotcha!" It accomplishes absolutely nothing and left a bad taste in my mouth. What a letdown.

Ooh, what a fun idea of for an au!! Starting simple, what’s the cast’s gender/ pronouns and sexualities?
(ooc) Here's all of them, plus a little fun fact about each person :D
Ace: He/Him, transmasc & gay
He still has the secret he has canonically, however because it's a much more positive environment in this AU, people close to him are helping to recover.
Arturo: He/They, transmasc & bisexual
Unlike canon, he has quite long hair. He's not the type to style it usually.. but Veronika is, so whenever they're together, he ends up with a random new hairstyle.
Arei: She/They, feminine presenting genderfluid & lesbian
Despite the lack of killing game, the scene in the infirmary between her and Eden still happened, just for a different reason. Because she doesn't die, she's able to improve herself into a much better person.. and yes, she's best friends with Eden.
Can't say their name, but the ultimate chemist: Tells people he/him, but secretly finds she/her or they/them more comfortable. Questioning their identity, she's actually transfem but they've not figured that out yet. (Whit thinks he knows.)
They see Nico as a sibling, and they see her the same way. Because she doesn't have her older brother (who they remember in this au), and Nico's family hated them, they kind of became unofficial siblings to support each other. Hu is a bit like the mom.
David: Any pronouns, transfem & nonbinary
Even though there's no trials, she still had the scene from the chapter 2 trial, just not in that environment. He wasn't manipulating people as there was no reason for him to there, but it turns out she has very bad mental health. Hu and Xander help her a lot, and even Arei sometimes, as he never manipulated her.
Eden: She/Her, transfem & lesbian
Eden always likes to hold events between everyone, especially the female cast, as she's a little scared of the men after Arturo still got mad and threatened her (in a different situation). In this au, they even managed to successfully make the cake, and after a talk with Whit about the subject, she's secretly excited to start inviting the ultimate chemist to her events.
Hu: She/Her, female & bisexual
Now that she's not under as much stress, Hu still likes to act as a parent to others. She's always there when people need help (but finds it very difficult to trust others sometimes). Also, multiple people from the cast deal with age regression*, so she loves to be there for them too.
* Xander, David, Teruko, the ultimate chemist, J, and Nico.
J: They/He, transmasc nonbinary & bisexual
After their identity was accidentally revealed (outside of the secret motive) and they realised how much they hate their birth name and being a girl, they came out as nonbinary & transmasc. Arei and Eden love trying to help in every way possible, even deliberately not inviting them to Eden's events.
Levi: Any pronouns, bigender, genderfluid & bisexual
Levi was always familiar with showing other people clothes, but during this au, they took up the hobby of making their own clothes. They looked a little silly at first, but overtime she became really good at it. She made something for everyone in the cast.
Min: She/Her, female & lesbian
Min is currently dating Teruko after she realised she experienced more than just friendship with her. Because they're in the academy they can't go out on dates, however they will watch movies, bake things, and often sleep in the same room.
Nico: They/Them, nonbinary, bi & asexual. Not particularly interested in a relationship but can experience romantic attraction. (They haven't canonically discovered neopronouns but they would love any themed around animals especially cats if they found out they existed.)
They carry a plush toy cat everywhere with them, even to simple events like lunch. They're canonically autistic in this au and it's comforting to them. Because of this they also experience other things related to it such as stimming and meltdowns, but with a bit of education to those unaware, it was happily accepted.
Rose: She/Her, transfem & lesbian
When Rose signed up to spend her life at Hope's Peak Academy as it was better than the outside world for her (that applies to everyone here !!), it meant she could break the contract that meant she couldn't have any of her own art. Now that she can call it all her own, she loves painting with Nico, and they're very close friends.
Teruko: She/Her, female & unlabelled sexuality
Despite the fact that she still has her bad luck, a lot of things have been put in place to try and assist her, and she's living a much happier life within the academy than she ever could've outside. Also, because there's no killing, she's best friends with Xander.
Veronika: She/They, transfem & pansexual
Just like Nico, Veronika is also canonically autistic (though she has low support needs, Nico has medium). She's very different to Nico, though, and both of them hate when they're seen as similar just because of their disabilities. Despite this, because they both end up spending so much time with Hu, she also sees them as a bit like family (though nowhere near as much as the ultimate chemist).
Whit: He/They, transmasc & bisexual
He's canonically dating the ultimate chemist, and after realising they aren't comfortable with their identity, he's the one helping them.
Xander: Any pronouns, genderfluid & bisexual
Because there's no killing game, he remembers his past in detail. She finds the difficult to deal with, but David is there to help them.
This took forever to type, so I hope these facts are interesting !!

"The Last Zsar caught my interest!"
— from this WIP List Tag post
The Last Zsar of Selade | Maxim Czaraskaite
Up until many centuries previous, the nation of Selade used to be under one set of royals. Inheritance was passed through its bloodline, until it got to Maxim.
He and his wife attempted to have children, only to find she couldn't have any. So they decided that they would elect an heir based on merit.
Maxim sent an invitation to the entire country to try their hand at convincing him and his wife to be the next heir. His offer spread far and wide, resulting in thousands of people showing up at the castle throughout the entire two months he dedicated to the first round.
During this initial selection, he asked the candidates a series of questions to get a sense of their personalities and their general aptitudes. Throughout this process, two particular people stood out.
The first, a young boy not much older than 11, whose family did not have much and lived simple lives. If he got the crown, he promised to be kind and fair to his people.
The other one was a lady with striking blue eyes, and sometimes blonde hair. She appeared in the queue every single day, evading the rejection of the guards who kept record of all entrants. When it came to her turn, she presented the royal couple with the finest jewellery and flowers she grown from her own magic. She would wax poetic and flatter the couple greatly, and promise to do anything that would earn her favour.
When the first selection period ended, he deliberated on his options. He received everything from the pretty to the preposterous to the desperate and the needy. Out of the thousands of options, he already had his mind made up. His wife suggested doing a second and third round at least, just to add an illusion of fairness.
For more of the sake of pleasing his wife, he declared a second round, announcing the twenty candidates that got through. For this round, he left each candidate in a room with an animal and some food and water. They would stay in this room for a few hours, with the result announced a few moments after they left the room.
When the trial ended, he had the pleasure of announcing that most (bar two) of the candidates passed. Having heard of the particular events in one (and later two) of the rooms, it only cemented his decision further.
The phoenix in one of the rooms turned back into the imp he sent earlier to watch above the candidate, somehow locked into the chain originally meant for the phoenix's ankle. He knew exactly who did this, but it was too late when he looked at the list.
The last event was declared to be a ball, destined for a month and a day after the second round.
Some of his one-hundred followers started putting pressure on him, wondering why he overlooked them. They asserted that picking commoners would not be logical nor socially appeasing.
Maxim, in turn, asserted that he was still the Zsar, and that his heir would not inherit the crown for a long while if the fortunes were good. It was his decision, not theirs, and that would be that.
His followers had the issue simmer in the background, leading Maxim to fear that infighting would occur.
His wife suggested bringing the ball forward, but he decided not to. Something was giving him knots and he couldn't deduce what.
He continued with his daily duties, trying to keep the resentments of his followers at bay.
The decision of his heir was approaching fast, and it wasn't so much the decision as much as the announcement that could lead to issues.
A few days before the ball, his messenger rushed in to him, handing him a painting of a house being engulfed in blue fire.
"Is this true?" Maxim asked her, his insides shocked to the core.
"This is allegedly the lady who tried for your crown, people say she survived."
His hand went to his glass crown. It all made sense to him then, Fate had descended upon the world in corporeal form, and she wanted only one thing.
He called his one hundred followers and the young boy to his castle in haste. They all arrived to the castle's atrium by midnight, gathering around Maxim in earnest and worry.
"You might all be wondering why I called you tonight." He stepped off the dais and made his way towards the centre of the crowd, his followers paving way for him.
Once he verified that the young boy, his heir elect, was near him, he continued.
"The Goddess has made an attempt on my throne." He grabbed his glass crown and raised it high above his head. "For those of you with a shard of my crown, you will have a shard of Selade."
Maxim let the crown shatter.
—
This is the story of how Selade got split apart, and it's where its shard system comes from. Those with surnames ending in '‐ova' are from shard-holding houses, and many of these houses have been amalgamated over the years. Hence why there are only four* main houses left (Vaer, Kerras, Calentask, Jaeristil*) out of one hundred and one initial shard-holders.
*the legitimacy of this one is disputed due to pre-amalgamate shard-holders trying to re-instate their status.

Niasra (Niamh/Asra) in 5 minutes
More undercut, if you're interested :)
Niamh likes to borrow Asra's scarves and gilets, sometimes a shirt she leaves half-open on purpose because she knows he likes what he sees! Asra borrows some of her accessories and tunics from time to time.
Asra was so anxious to cause another crisis that he swore to not confess his feelings for Niamh, especially after the events in the Prologue. He was also worried Niamh was falling for him primarily by default or due to the lack of options, since she didn't get to make many friends during the 3 years after her resurrection. Niamh sometimes questioned her feelings for Asra, wondering if she was really in love with or deeply attached to him. But then, she realised she really loved the person Asra was and cherished the moments they shared because she loved him and not just because he had been her "master". So she decided "I have to clarify my intentions and feelings to him" and confessed first.
Asra knows how to cook and is quite good at it, but he likes to indulge in Niamh's great cooking <3 While she cooks most of the time, the two like to prepare dinner together, especially when they have guests.
Niamh was never fond of bugs, and due to her past trauma with the Plague beetles deeply set in her, she might freak out depending on its size/type. She might squash it *while* screaming or chase it with a broom (like Sophie in "Howl's moving Castle").
Asra catches the bug to let it out or feed ut to Faust - if the latter doesn't catch it first.
Niamh is the housekeeper of the two! That's why Asra is the one who goes to buy groceries, deals with some customers and does some other tasks in the shop. He doesn't want her to overwork herself or live off her.
Asra can still be overprotective of Niamh, but he tries his best not to smother her. Niamh can be protective, but since she dislikes when people are too protective of her or make her feel like she's fragile or can't handle herself, she refrains from overdoing it.
Asra is the most jealous of the two. A tiny part of him fears Niamh would find someone who "would never let her down" and leave him. Niamh refused to watch the memory of Asra and Julian because she thought it was none of her business, but she still felt a pang of jealousy and considered it inappropriate. She sometimes wondered (worried) whether Asra had someone he met during his journeys in the past.
Asra and Niamh have their disagreements, but they don't argue or fight often. When it happens, it can be because one of them (or both) was really tired/frustrated and somehow snapped at the other or took it out on them; like Niamh snapping at Asra because he's messy or Asra taking a jab at Niamh about her collecting/recycling habits. The subjects that are still quite sensitive are Lucio (for a while), Asra leaving or keeping (too many) secrets from her, Niamh's overly idealistic views (wanting to give a chance a bit too quickly, especially compared to her past self) and touchiness. Asra is usually the first to apologize because he's so afraid to repeat the same mistake and to come back too late that he sometimes apologized when he wasn't in the wrong. Niamh felt awful when it happened and made amends for it.
They are both popular for different reasons. Asra was already quite known and became especially famous after the Plague. Niamh was well-liked in the past, her resurrection made people a bit wary/freaked out at first; but she remained discreet. She became quite popular during the Trial, especially when she revealed she used to be Chimerae.
Niamh has a bit of separation anxiety, due to the faint memory of Asra leaving during the Plague and his travels away from the shop.
Asra is more likely to take the shot for Niamh, even if he knows she would hate it. Niamh has her mind set on "we must live together", but she would take a hit for him too.

A Slightly Different Path:
Killer Capsize.
When Redbeard is about to be taken into the Shadows’ Realm, Ianite manages to stop him from being taken, casting the Shadows away if only temporarily. In the time that he is spared the horrors of the Shadows’ Realm, Capsize is left completely alone at the mercy of Furia who slowly becomes more vicious. After what feels like hundreds of deaths, Capsize begins to lose the sparks of hope she still had left. As she dies death after death, she stops attempting to figure out escape mentions, only still running from Furia in the trials to avoid more pain. It gets to the point where she’s praying to anyone that might listen for a way to make it stop. And then, when she’s alone in the camp, a voice responds to her desperation.
The Shadows begin whispering to her, offering a way to stop the deaths. They pray on her weakening resolve, telling her that everyone believes she’s dead, that no one else is coming to save her. And as these words invade her mind, the tiny fragments of hope she’d been clinging to fading, she begins sobbing, begging for anything they can offer. For a moment, every moment of pain floods through her body, the final opening that the Shadows use to enter and corrupt her mind.
Now stalking an impossible drained ocean, Capsize flickers between the forms of her different deaths, sometimes looking almost unrecognisable and sometimes it being impossible to ignore who she really is. The area is centred around a shipwreck of her original ship, surrounded by corals, seagrass, and the last reminds of water in tiny tide pools. She wields a trident that flickers between different states of broken just as her physical form.
Having been corrupted in a moment of terrible pain and desperation, Capsize now acts as a vengeful spirit, believing that those she’s chasing are responsible for abandoning her to a painful death, only vaguely recognising those she knew previously. She can teleport via the tide pools, melting anyway from her current location as if she turned to water. When a survivor witnesses her teleport, it starts to feel like they’re slowly drowning. A drowning survivor can stop the effect by leaving an offering in a tidal pool, though this takes time out of completing the tasks they need to do to escape its the far safer option as leaving themself in the state for too long will result in Capsize knowing exactly where they are at all times.
Survivor Tom.
Tom’s latent godly powers bring him into the Shadow’s Realm in a far different way than Dianite possessing his body. One night during a blood moon, he begins to hear a voice begging for her pain to stop. And he recognises that voice. Tom rushes out into the darkness, dodging a ridiculous number of monsters as he tries to find where Capsize is. Given the darkness, he doesn’t even realise that he’s quickly surrounded by a shadowy fog until he’s in a campsite watching the friend he thought was dead get consumed by shadows and disappear. And Tom has never been more determined to defeat the Shadows than in that moment.
He isn’t alone for longer than a few trials, Redbeard appearing to a mixture of happiness and absolute horror from Tom. But in his downtime, he finds things left behind by Capsize, getting the general idea of what’s going on and just how long she was alone. When all the other survivors (and killers) eventually appear, he is very clear that he’s not interested in escaping until he can save all the killers from their fate. He’s pretty aggressive about this goal, to the point of causing arguments with those who would prefer the focus be on escaping.
In the trials, he has special focus on escaping once caught. When he’s in a chase, he can create noises around a hiding area as if he entered it, hiding his continued running, leading to (ideally) the killer getting confused and losing him. When he is caught and being carried by the killer, he has a far greater chance than any of his fellow survivors to escape their grasp, his thrashing and wriggling throwing off the killer's movements. He’s also managed to figure out how to channel his godly abilities, if only to produce a small shining light for a limited amount of time. When he shines it at the killers, it can blind them for a short amount of time, and if done at the right moment, it can make them let go of someone they’ve managed to catch.
#mianite dead by daylight au#my little alternative ideas that i thought were very cool but didn't want to go through the effort of rewriting season 2 to impliment them#because in this version tom does disappear partway through season 2 and that would definitely have consequences#mianite#captain capsize#tom syndicate

My heart has been struck
I just went and got stuck
On the sight of him
That I approached on a whim
That has my heart fluttering
While he's being mothering
I just played this and I adore you, Yi-feng. You deserve so much! And thank you for sharing your IF to the world. Greetings from the Philippines!
And if you don't mind, I was wondering what would the ROs do if the Messenger was corrupted? Are they willing to vanquish them for the greater good? Since I think I read somewhere along those lines in the story speculating this possibility of people being corrupted? (I wonder if I worded it right). I hope you can indulge this question if it's alright 😅
Oh thank you so much for the poem, it’s so lovely! Thank you for your love and greetings!
Corruption is an interesting way to see it. During one particular trial, you can let yourself be influenced by strange forces that seeks to sway you from the ‘good’ path. But that was a self-contained setting rather than an ongoing phenomenon. There are little choices along the way where you can choose to be more selfish or unkind.
Still, it’s an interesting idea to have the Messenger go down the path of corruption, i.e. willing to cause harm if it benefits themselves, doing whatever it takes to complete the quest.
Ishraq
He would not approve of their actions. Ishraq would try to dissuade them from doing harm and call out to the compassionate part of them, whatever that is left in them. If the Messenger still does not listen, he will emotionally disconnect from them even if it breaks his heart to do so. He would have left if he didn’t have a world-saving quest to see through.
Ishraq would not be unkind to them, but he would be strangely apathetic towards them and actively stop them whenever they do something he deems morally wrong. It hurts him to see them like this and be helpless to this change.
Deva
Deva would be worried for them. If the Messenger crosses a point of no return, they might cause unimaginable harm and jeopardise everything. Such extremes is not necessary, she thinks. She is all for thinking outside the box, but there come to a point where it goes too far.
She’d express her disapproval and doubt whenever they do something questionable - surely they could have found another way instead of resorting to, whatever it was. But she would not actively stop them unless they truly become a threat. If a push comes to a shove, she will find a way to finish this quest without them.
Yi-feng
Unless harm is done to him, Yi-feng isn’t too fazed by them as long as it gets the job done, which is to save the lands. He understands that sometimes survival calls for unconventional, perhaps even immoral, measures.
If the Messenger is to do something, driven by decadent motivations, he will watch closely and chip in if he feels it will help with their quest. But, he will give them a word of warning to not let themselves be swept away by their corruption and lose sight of what is most important.
Yeshe
Yeshe will be conflicted, especially if the Messenger’s actions help to move them along their quest. The mission is of utmost priority but they believe one must not lose themselves in the process.
They will get philosophical and introspective with the Messenger, trying to understand why they have gone down this path and plant seeds of contemplation in them. Yeshe believes one can be self-oriented without losing one’s values, and hopes to nudge the Messenger towards this road instead of letting them spiral down a path of no return.
#re-read your poem several times because it's so nice#so interesting to see my characters be perceived and written by someone else#and what an intriguing ask#ask#characters#interactive fiction#deliverance the game

Criminal Defense Lawyer - Choosing the Right One
Choosing and employing a criminal defense lawyer early on in any case is the best way to increase one's probability of success in any criminal trial. Many of the more prominent people in society already have a battery of lawyers at their behest that spring into action whenever any legal problem arises.
You may not be one of these high profile people, and you may not have employed an attorney as of yet because a) you do not really have a need for them yet or b) they are, of course, too expensive to just have on hand. But even given this you will have to keep in mind that in the case of an impending criminal trial, choosing and hiring a good lawyer early on is your top priority.
In fact, the outcome of your entire case may even hinge on whether this single matter alone. If you hire a lawyer early on, there is a chance that, due to his or her timely actions, there will be no need for any case and trial at all. You might just be able to dodge the bullet on time.
Your choice of lawyer can also affect the amount and quality of evidence that is allowable by law to police and investigators. This alone is reason enough to hire good lawyers with good grasp of such kinds of investigation practice. If you have been watching enough trial TV, you will notice that many trials drag on endlessly only to argue whether an evidence is acceptable in the court of law.
This is important because some cases decisions all depend on sometimes just one piece of crucial evidence in a case. If you do not have expert advice this early in the ball game then you might have just lost your case right on the outset.
Whether or not you are in a bind to find a good criminal defense lawyer, it would be good to keep in mind these pointers on determining a good Miami Criminal Defense Lawyer.
Lawyer Specialization
Look at the lawyer's background. Does he or she have specialization in criminal defense? Just because on is an attorney does not mean that he or she automatically qualifies as a good criminal defense lawyer.
Lawyers are a lot like doctors. And the legal field is pretty much similar to the medical field. There is a host of specializations and fortes making having one lawyer adept at all close to impossible. And in the same wise that you wouldn't trust a brain operation on a dermatologist, you should stick to a defense crime lawyer when you need such representation in cases.
Also look at past case performance to see if the lawyer is fit to represent you fully in your case. If the lawyer has had experience in cases similar to yours, and has been able to perform well and respectably, then that would be a good thing to look out for.
Try Him for the First 30 Minutes
You will probably decide whether the lawyer is worth it during the first 30 minutes of meeting the person. While the first few minutes of meeting will not give you an accurate gauge of the lawyer's services, it will still give you enough information to decide whether the person should represent you at all.
Pay close attention to how the lawyer listens to you during the initial interview. Does the lawyer listen intently paying close attention to details and asking pertinent questions at crucial junctures? Or is the lawyer just blowing by the interview and missing important details?
Look at the lawyer's body language as well; you will be able to find out whether he or she is interested in the case itself. If the lawyer is showing a little boredom at your case, then it would be safe to consider other lawyers for the practice - unless the particular lawyer is a known genius and pulls through even with such demeanor.
However, if you want to play safe, then it would be a good bet to find a lawyer the listens intently, is interested in your case, and is not aloof and overbearing in dealing with you.
Don't Be Afraid to Ask Questions
Do not, at all costs, be afraid to ask questions. Matters such as bills, scope of the case, payment details, and other matters should not be an esoteric exercise. Everything should be transparent and open.
Your lawyer should not tire of explaining and elucidating legal terms and strategies regarding your case. It is your head, after all, that is on the line. The lawyer should cooperate and interact with you on the case.

He'd be lying if he said that her words didn't fuel his ego, grin tugging at his lips as she said he was special and partially sung his praises. Danny was self aware about a lot of things, but couldn't help falling into his own vanity sometimes. The survivors were beneath him in his mind, and the killers were just mindless murder machines to him with few exceptions. It took a lot to get him to talk to somebody as if they were on equal standing in a genuine way. Danny could fake appearances, not above sucking up to some if it got him what he wanted... To an extent, that is.
"Vittorio." The newest survivor to meet his blade. His tattoos were fascinating, and the magic present within them reminded him of Mikaela's own magic, although he wasn't sure if they had any sort of connection with one another. "Anything and everything on him. But if you overhear anything interesting with anyone else, I'm all ears." A massive flaw with his stakeout system is that he couldn't be in multiple places at once.
Outside of the fog, he only picked out a singular target and dedicated his time to them in particular. But here, he couldn't just watch one single person for all of eternity, because the end result wasn't murder, and nothing here ever died. He had to schedule things out and keep tabs on people, which left room to miss out on vital information when he was elsewhere. And the more he thought about it, the happier he was that he decided to accept this little information trade-off. Maybe they could figure out some sort of partnership...
But the Ghostface was getting ahead of himself. She hadn't even proven herself to be trusted yet, and so that would be for another time. "Is that all you need from me, Ada?" The sleeve was tugged down and his tattoos were hidden yet again, Danny going back to his little desk and giving a glance back to the work on his desk. Simple note revisions. "We can meet back here if you find anything interesting, but don't bother trying to speak to me about these things during trials, for your own sake. I get a bit... Focused."
“Knock knock.”
Ada leaned on the doorway into Danny’s office. She knew Danny had a habit of hanging out here, although typically she avoided him. Today, however, was an exception. Ever since their last trial together, Ada had a growing curiosity and planned to hopefully get it satisfied.
“You don’t mind me bothering you, do you? I just need a bit of your time, if you’re willing.”
- @ask-dbd-adawong
The soft scribbling of a pen paused as the Ghostface tilted his head up to acknowledge the new presence, surprised to see that it was Ada... But not at the same time. From his research he knew that she and a few others had a connection to this place, and if anything he was the one intruding on their territory. But he hadn't gotten any complaints so far, keeping to himself and being mindful of its residents. He sat up and set his pen aside, taking the time to stretch and snap out of his work focus.
"I'm not used to you all coming to me about things... So I'll humor you for a little while, Ms Wong." His respect still held for her as he cleared some papers off his desk, returning her politeness with his own business-like courtesy. Danny didn't have to keep up a professional persona. But he slipped into it like it was another mask, falling into his surroundings. It reminded him of his time as Jed Olsen. Nostalgic.
He turned to face her fully, head tilted to show his curiosity. "What compelled you to come talk with me, exactly?" Their last interview from his memory was of the trial he sacrificed her in if he was right about that. It got him a map to the Knight, and so he was grateful for that. Danny felt like he already knew why she was here considering that fact.

Hello,
I love your writing style, and I would like to propose a writing idea of Kakashi x civilian reader. I dont know how requests work but here we go. :)
The civilian is a doctor in psychology, specialised in childhood traumas. She is a foreigner, came in to practice in Konoha, and opened her own practice. She is beautiful and intelligent, and would make any men fall in love with her, including our beloved Kashi. However,he was sooo shy to talk with her and would get nervous in her presence. He might experience love, a feeling strange to him. Sakura, works as her assistant and is fascinated by her knowledge and she sensed that Kashi is interested in her so she acted as the cupid to get them together👀💃🏼
My inspiration for the reader comes from 'Dr. Shanon Curry from Johnny Depps trial lol :))'
Thank youu🙇🏼♀️🙇🏼♀️🙏
Thank you so much for requesting! You are my first request, so I hope that I am doing this right :) I tried to make the reader as close to Dr. Curry as I could, based on the snippets I watched of her during the trial (Honestly, I'm not sure though if I got her personality down). I hope that's still okay! Since you didn't specify a time period, I just assumed that this takes place after the war. Enjoy!
Cupid's Arrow
Hatake Kakashi x fem&civilian!Reader

Summary: Kakashi can’t help but fall for Konoha’s new childhood trauma specialist and lucky for him, Sakura decides that it is time to play cupid for her sensei and new mentor.
Haruno Sakura was not stupid. No matter how often Ino-pig may have jokingly said that in the pinkette’s presence (and never meant it seriously, she knew as much about their ‘rivalry’), Sakura harbored more intelligence than the majority her peers did. Ever since she began her training under the Godaime Hokage and one of the Legendary Sannin, Senju Tsunade, she had become even more aware that her intelligence was not to be looked down upon. However, that aspect of herself was not what she was the proudest of, rather, it was the emotional intelligence she possessed that brought her the most pride.
While Haruno Sakura was undeniably brilliant, she was also very intuitive for her age. If she had to speculate now where her understanding of others and their feelings had come from, Sakura would first think back to when she had begun working in the Konoha hospital. Within the building with blindingly white walls, understanding how her patients felt was one of her priorities. While they sometimes wouldn’t speak, if they were especially proud and defiant, Sakura always had to know how she should treat the person who saught her out. That meant analyzing everyone down to their tiniest reactions and movement of a muscle.
It had come as no surprise to her that she had the one to been the first to notice their sensei’s unusual behavior. After seven years (and counting) of knowing Hatake Kakashi, Sakura liked to believe that she knew a lot about the man, or at least more than many others did. A majority of the time, he was a walking enigma. With his aloof personality and admirable intellect, the black piece of fabric that kept the lower half of his face hidden from the world, and his drive to succeed, Kakashi was sometimes unreadable, a blank piece of paper per se. Sakura assumed this stemmed from his time in the Anbu, one he had only talked about on the rarest of occasions.
When you had come along, her sensei’s behavior changed drastically. Suddenly, he became readable. Of all things happening, Sakura had not seen such a change coming along. Finding the source of the change had been easy enough as she only had to look for the center of Kakashi’s change in behavior, you.
(To say that a woman of all reasons caused his sudden change surprised Sakura deeply. Besides Hanare, she was pretty sure that she had never seen her sensei talk to a woman if it wasn’t for the sake of the mission.)
That meant in short: her sensei was inexperienced and based on his behavior around you, also both emotionally and socially constipated.
To get him to talk to you for more than a few meek minutes and without stumbling over every other word would be a challenge, so Sakura knew from the moment she saw her sensei practically drool at the sight of you. How he could aid in the winning of a war against a revived man but not talk to a woman, she did not know. Luckily for him, Sakura had assigned herself the position of the cupid that would bring two of her mentors together and hopefully, have them dating in at least a few weeks.
Sakura could understand why her sensei had fallen for you of all people. Undeniably, you, her current mentor and the new psychologist in Konoha were a true sight to behold. Standing at (height), one would think that you would blend in with the civilian population. Yet, with your (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes, you instead stood out in the crowds of many. Beautiful and intelligent, that was how Sakura would describe you. It was no wonder her sensei metaphorically lay at your feet, as other men also did.
That gave Sakura more the reason to get you together with Kakashi.
In your life, you needed someone genuine and someone who supported you and your career. From the many talks the two of you had shared during lunch break over a cup of coffee, Sakura was well aware of the fact that finding a suitable partner did not come easy to you. One would think that with men at your feet, you had free choice.
You were a brilliant woman who was in search of a just as brilliant man. She knew that you were looking for someone who matched your intellect, someone with whom you could talk about just anything and could hold intelligent conversations. At the same time, you were also quite the hopeless romantic she noticed. You wanted someone who would love you for who you were, not merely and primarily for your appearance. Luckily for you, Sakura would (again) assign herself to be the cupid that would bring you into a relationship that will make you happy.
Undoubtedly, in Sakura’s mind the two of you, Kakashi and (Name) would be a perfect match. That was if her plan succeeded.
Kakashi felt weird. Unlike when he got sick (a number of times he could count on both of his hands) or got injured on a mission and received a countless amount of wounds all over his body, the feeling he felt now was not unpleasant. Rather, it was the complete opposite of the word. For reasons unknown to him, it felt like there were butterflies roaming around in his stomach.
Despite combing through an obscene amount of medical books, Kakashi could not figure out on his own what exactly was wrong with him. Kakashi would consider himself to be well-versed in many subjects, but medicine was not one he could consider being on that list. There were reasons why Sakura was the one to patch him up after rough missions.
The easiest solution to his persistent problem was to book an appointment with the doctor and explain his problem to a medical professional who would most likely know what to do. Alternatively, he could also ask for Sakura to listen to him and have his overly intuitive students help him. For a few minutes when he felt especially desperate, he had considered both options. In the end, he ended up dropping both of them, considering the prospect to be too mortifying for him.
That meant that now Kakashi was stuck with his stomach feeling weird every time he saw you. It must be a freaky coincidence, of that he was sure. When he was around you, his heartbeat suddenly spiked and his cheeks became warmer, turning a shade of pink underneath the mask he always wore. His most mortifying case of whatever sickness he suffered from had been during a coincidental meeting. You had stepped closer to him, your breath fanning over his mask as you reached out with your hand to rest it over his forehead, staring at him with furrowed brows.
With the most melodic voice, he had ever speak to him you asked, “Are you sick, Kakashi-san?” Your voice sounded like the lullaby he had always yearned to her and one he could hear forever without getting sick of it. Merely the way you stood in front of him had him breathless.
Frantically, Kakashi shook his head. He could not find it within himself to reply verbally, his tongue feeling tied.
You hummed in response, lifting your hand from his forehead to feel your own before returning to rest on his again. “Are you sure that you are okay, you feel a little warm. Maybe you should get that checked out?”
Undeniably, you were a very intelligent woman with an intuition that could barely be matched (according to Sakura’s tellings), but were somehow oblivious to how his thought circuited in your presence. Wasn’t it obvious that he did not feel well? When you touched him, his hands felt sweatier than they did before and his mind turned dizzy.
Most likely due to some illness I caught, Kakashi mused in his thoughts. On the last mission, Tsunade-sama sent me on I must have caught something, probably. That must be it. Maybe body heat triggers it?
If Kakashi’s last assumption was correct (spoiler: it was not), then removing himself from your presence would be the only solution to his problem. Maybe then his body would calm down from the sudden increase in temperature and as a result, he would feel much better again.
To him, it sounded completely plausible in the literal heat of the moment.
Kakashi cleared his throat, taking a step backward from your prying hands. “I-I must apol-logize, (Name)-san. But I still ha-have business elsewhere for t-the day.”
You made him so nervous that he began stuttering and Kakashi could confidently say that he never stuttered … unless he spoke around you. In your presence, it felt like every nerve in his body was lit ablaze, making his skin tingle with your every delicate touch. The effect you had on him undeniable and at the same time, one he had to get away from to keep his dignity.
When you lowered your hand, you almost looked disappointed, but Kakashi was sure that he was imagining that. You had no reason to be disappointed, right?
“Oh, I didn’t mean to take up your time. I’ll get out of your way then.” You said, your voice now missing its previous lull. With your head held high, you rushed past the silver-haired man and disappeared into the growing crowd, nowhere to be found.
Kakashi looked after your retreating figure and held his hand as though to reach for you. Though, when he realized what he was doing, he quickly lowered it again. For an, to him, unexplicable reason, the funny feeling in his stomach subdued once he completely lost sight of your figure. More so, his stomach felt uncomfortably empty and not at all as it did before he saw you. At the same time, he felt bad for lying to you to end the conversation between the two of you. You had looked so excited to talk to him, after all.
With his head hung lower than it did before your coincidental meeting, Kakashi continued his way into the opposite direction of where you went, his mind completely occupied by thoughts of only you.
Sakura had a clear mission and it was not given to her by the Hokage. It felt a little wrong to consider her doings a ‘mission’, but there was not a better word for her current doings: playing cupid. In her mind, she even had already begun to hatch out a mission plan, consisting of a total of four steps that had to be completed as smoothly as possible.
Mission Cupid’s Arrow (to be completed)
Figure out how Kakashi-sensei feels for (Name)-san.(Note: he won’t say it outright, read his body language).
Talk about Kakashi-sensei with (Name)-san, if needed, read her body language.
Following the completion of the previous steps, make plans to set them up on a date.
Kiss kiss kiss!!!
Not that she would ever reveal the existence of the plan to anyone or ever mention it, but Sakura felt quite proud of how she put her mind to the problem she presented herself with.
Luckily for her, completing the first of the four steps had not been easy. It came without much thought that Kakashi-sensei was a difficult target when it came to topics such as feelings, relationships, and similar. Already when she was a Genin, he had been clueless about what to tell her when it came to her crush on Sasuke and preferred to stay out of her love life. It was no wonder to Sakura that he didn’t have an idea of how to lead his own.
Sakura began her mission by inviting her sensei out for a bowl of ramen, ‘to celebrate’, that was how she had put it when he asked her why.
“Celebrate what?” Kakashi had asked, his growing confusion evident.
She let out a faux thoughtful noise, leaning back on her heels as she spoke, “Oh, you know. A lot has happened since the war ended. You are going to be Hokage soon, I’m an assistant now. It would be nice to celebrate that.”
Sadly enough, Kakashi did not buy her explanation that easily. With a raised eyebrow he asked, “Why didn’t you ask Naruto or Sai to come along?”
Bingo. The man just played himself, she thought.
“Because Naruto eats my earned money faster out of my pocket than I earned it.”
The excuse was believable since it really was true. Faintly, she could remember the last time Team Seven had gone out to eat some ramen and how Kakashi had convinced poor Yamato to pay for all of them. While Sai held himself back and eased Yamato’s incoming pain, Naruto meanwhile had taken it as a chance to go all out. Out of Yamato’s mistake, they had all learned.
Kakashi chuckled. “Fair enough.”
That was not when her first step had ended, however. Next, she needed to figure out as much about her sensei’s state of mind toward you as she possibly could, preferably without sending him running before she got enough information.
(Quite frankly, Kakashi was the master in disappearing without a trace. One moment he would be sitting beside her, somehow making his ramen magically vanish without her seeing, and the next the chair beside her would be empty as would be the bowl. By then, he would also have paid for his and her meal, which she always found quite thoughtful.)
If necessary, Sakura was ready to trap the man somewhere to have her mission succeed. She only had his happiness (and also yours) in mind, both of you deserved it in her opinion. Sakura hoped that with each other, you two could find it.
Sakura stirred her chopsticks mindlessly in her ramen, putting on a thoughtful expression before letting out a loud sigh. It immediately caught Kakashi’s attention, who gave her a questioning look.
“Say, sensei, what do you think is the most important thing in a relationship?” As soon as she saw the silver-haired man startle, she backtracked a little. “I mean, with everyone beginning to date, I’ve just been wondering what I am looking for and … I don’t know.”
Kakashi hesitated in his reply, “Are you talking about Sasuke?”
The topic of Sasuke was a delicate one to breach, especially for Sakura. It was why she sucked in a breath at the mere mention of the last Uchiha’s name. While that reaction came in subconsciously and not on purpose at all, it brought the conversation along.
Her sensei cleared his throat, the discomfort between them slowly growing. “I don’t know what to tell you Sakura …” He easily trailed off, pinching his nose.
His frustration was rolling off of him in waves and that was the moment Sakura had to strike. “Sensei, just be honest with me. Please.”
“Trust. I think that trust is an important thing. You have to be there for the other person and believe in them unconditionally. Trust them to …” ‘not leave you’. The words hung in the air, he did not even need to speak them. “You have to be honest with each other, about what you want and who you are, communicate. To be in a relationship means to be able to rely on each other and be there for one another. That is what matters.”
Time to be honest, Sakura did not think that her sensei had it in him to speak such words. In a sense, they did not only aid her with her secret mission but also struck a certain chord within her, so she wouldn’t forget what he said. Unsurprisingly, he was right with what he was saying.
(At the same time, Sakura couldn’t help but wonder if his addiction of Icha Icha influenced his ideals. It was a possibility.)
Sakura smiled at the man, knowing what it took for him to actually talk about his feelings, especially when it came to things like romance. “Thank you, sensei. This means a lot to me.”
Awkwardly, he rubbed the back of his head and smiled with his eyes closed.
For a moment, Sakura smiled brightly at her sensei, delighted that her mission was going well. That was at least until her green eyes fixated on the now-empty bowl that sat in front of her sensei. “You finished eating already?!” She screeched out.
“I did,” Kakashi confirmed with a regained nonchalance. “Why do you look so surprised, Sakura?”
No matter how much she planned ahead and thought that she was ahead of him, Kakashi always beat her by several steps.
“Huh?!”
Sakura couldn’t believe it! Underneath the table, she clenched her fists together to keep the quiet ‘Cha!’ from pushing past her lips. The pinkette would not give in that easily, she would not be defeated by a man over a decade her senior, who was so socially inept. It’d be ridiculous if he could just-
-with a poof, Kakashi disappeared from right beside her and Sakura could only stare in disbelief, her mouth falling open in shock.
“That bastard!” And with that, Sakura slammed her hand onto the table.
Little did Sakura know that the real challenge was yet to come.
You in comparison to her sensei were an absolute nightmare to figure out. Sakura should have expected it (really, she should have) that a psychologist was not an easy person to either read or figure out without the person willingly revealing information about themselves. Your profession was literally focused on knowing others' emotions and controlling your own, so it was no wonder that the questions Sakura thought were sly weren’t so sly at all.
She should have seen it coming, but stupidly enough, she didn’t. When she had asked you more non-work-related questions, it should have been obvious to her that you would become suspicious at the sudden onslaught.
“What’s this about all of a sudden?” You laughed, practically looking right into Sakura's soul. She knew that she was being watched carefully. “What’s with all the questions?”
Sakura had been able to shake you off of her trail, somehow. She herself was rather unsure of how she had managed to stop the reverse psychology and your onslaught of questions, but somehow she did. However, it was more likely that you let her off of the hook.
Unfortunately for you, that made Sakura even more determined to find a crack in your professional mindset, no matter how long it would take for her plan to succeed. She was not one to give up easily, after all.
Something was on Sakura’s mind, that much was obvious to you. Throughout the few hours that the two of you had been working together, it was obvious that the girl’s thoughts were somewhere beyond work. If she had a pencil in her hand, she would mindlessly drum it against the clipboard that she held in her other hand. When you asked her to write something down for you, whether it was reminders of lessons you two had to go over again or appointments you had to check, Sakura would make more spelling mistakes than she ever did before.
For some reason, your favorite (and only) assistant was distracted and you were determined to get to the bottom of it. The right time to do so would be the upcoming lunch break for the two of you, something you had been looking forward to since your third appointment of the day.
Your last patient before lunch break was a young boy of ten years. It broke your heart time and time again to see the young children come to your, to have their parent(s) or caretakers drop them off at your practice, and pick them up again later. No child of any age should be recquired to see a trauma specialist.
When the Fourth Shinobi War rolled around, everything had changed from one to another. Back in your homeland in Sunagakure, you did not have many patients to attend to. Due to the vast population of the smallest of the five Kage villages, your amount of patients was minuscule in comparison to the influx you were experiencing in Konoha. Save for the attack of Akatsuki years back and the murder of your Kazekage, there had not been much that drove patients into your practice, especially not young ones.
Following the end of the war, you had decided to take your practice elsewhere. It had been a suggestion of your young Kazekage, a charming boy by the name of Gaara, whose psychologist you had been for a short duration of his childhood. To strengthen the connection between the two villages, medical professionals of all kinds were sent to different villages to keep the exchange of information constant.
Whether it was a stroke of luck or else for you to be chosen, you could not exactly tell. The whispers following the selection had not been hushed. Conversations of nepotism and favoritism had reached your ears before you left, making you even more eager for your departure.
And now, now you were here in Konoha with an assistant who was obviously distracted. You could understand why that was the case. The profession of your and now also Sakura’s choosing carried many burdens with it, but you chose to bear the weight on your shoulders for the sake of others. No matter how heavy, you couldn’t just give in to it. The children needed you, after all. You couldn’t let them down, that wouldn’t align with your conscious. That was also why you needed Sakura at her full concentration, to avoid you in your mission to hopefully help these children.
Since lunch break rolled around, you decided that it would be the perfect time to have a conversation about what was bothering the pinkette.
Watching your assistant, you let out a small sigh and leaned back in your chair, crossing your arms over your chest. “What’s on your mind, Sakura-chan?”
She did not answer immediately and instead bit her lip, falling into deeper thought. You were pretty sure that she did not even hear you speak, never mind asking her a question.
“Sakura?”
In her seat, Sakura was visibly startled by your voice. “Oh! Sorry (Name)-san, I didn’t mean to get distracted.”
Another thing you liked about her was her good manners. She was always one to apologize for something that could happen to anyone, you found that to be quite endearing.
You let out a laugh, shaking your head at the dazzled expression your assistant wore. “Don’t worry too much about it, Sakura-chan. We all get a little distracted sometimes. Now tell me, what’s on your mind that bugs you so much?”
Sakura let out a groan, tilting her head back in a gesture of annoyance. “Was I that noticeable?”
You pretended to think about it before replying, “Yes. Couldn’t even not see that if I tried.”
She let out yet another groan and buried her face in her hands, obviously embarrassed.
You went to comfort her by placing a hand on her shoulder, squeezing it once softly with a reassuring smile. “It happens to the best of us,” You laughed, faintly remembering doing the same as her. “but seriously, what’s got you so unfocused? This isn’t like you.”
Sakura took a deep breath and removed her face from her hand, sitting up straight in her seat again. It was now or never. She did not even have to will a flush to her cheeks as it came along with her embarrassment about being caught slacking.
“Well, (Name)-san, I was just, uh, thinking about … whatitwouldbeliketobeinarelationship.”
Confused, you blinked at her. “Can you repeat that? I don’t think I understood.”
“I said that I was thinking about whatitwouldbeliketobeinarelationship.”
Now it was getting a tad bit ridiculous.
“Sakura. Focus.”
“Right, sorry,” Again, Sakura straightened in her seat. She rubbed her neck, obviously embaressed. “It’s a bit embarrassing … during work, I know I shouldn’t think about non-work-related things, but (Name)-san, I just- I couldn’t help but think about what it would be like to be in a relationship.”
That was random, you thought.
“Oh?” You were unsure of what to say. “Is it about that boy … what was his name again? Sasuke, right?”
You could see Sakura visibly cringe at the name and draw in a sharp breath before nodding. “Yes.”
There wasn’t a lot that you knew about the last of the Uchiha, Sasuke, but what you knew was enough. He was a boy your young assistant had a crush on since an early age (the academy, you believe) and someone she held close to her heart. About him, she had told you a few things and hesitated time and time again to speak his name aloud, only referring to him by his pronouns. It was evident that she had a difficult time dealing with his departure.
“I was just thinking about if one day, I might find someone to love, someone who loves me and be in a relationship. It’s a silly thought, I should focus on other things but I just can’t help it,” Sakura let out a laugh, one that sounded more self-loathing than anything else. Then, she looked straight at you. “What about you (Name)-san, do you have someone?”
“No,” You told her. “I don’t.”
“No offense, (Name)-san. But why is that?” Sakura asked, brows furrowed. “You are very beautiful and many others would agree with that. You must have many men practically laying at your feet.”
You found the fact that you had no significant life partner to be rather disappointing, maddening even. It wasn’t that you weren’t aware of the fact that there was an effect you had on men, because you were. You knew that you were a desirable woman, based on the fact that countless men had asked you out on dates already.
“I haven’t found the one for me yet.” You answered truthfully as you found no need to lie to her.
“‘The one’, who would be that for you?”
“A genuine man,” That is who you were looking for, your ideal partner. “Someone who looks past my appearance and puts in some effort to go on a date with me and that not to brag about it later to his friends. Someone trustworthy, someone honest, and someone I could talk to freely, without having to dumb myself done as we talk.”
The minuscule smirk tugging at Sakura’s lips confused you greatly, yet you let it slide, thinking that maybe you confused it with a smile. “You will find someone like that, don’t worry too much, (Name)-san.” Confidence in her words practically oozed off of them.
She made you wonder … “And how can you be so sure of that, Sakura-chan?”
Sakura grinned at you. “There are plenty of men that fit your description!”
“Such as …?” Admittedly, during your description, there was one man you could think of who matched it, who was a carbon copy of it, and yet you would not dare to utter his name in her presence. It was like wishful thinking to fantasize about a man such as him, to think of him as a suitor while he was practically untouchable for someone like you. A war hero and a psychologist were not on the same level, not even in the same field, and yet …
“My sensei Kakashi, for example!”
Your eyes widened drastically to resemble the ones of a doe. How did she hit the nail right on the head?
“Excuse me?!” You blurted out, panic invading your way of speaking. Your cheeks took on a light dusting of color, feeling warmer than they did before your conversation.
“You look flustered, (Name)-san,” Sakura leaned closer to you with a teasing smirk playing on her lips. “Is something the matter?”
You swallowed harshly to control your emotions. She was right, you really were flustered and you had to get yourself back under your own control. A few breaths later and you did not feel as light-headed anymore and leaned back in your chair to distance yourself from the noise pinkette.
Now was your time to strike back against her. “The thing that is the matter is that my lovely assistant is spending her time finding potential suitors for me instead of learning.”
That seemed to do the job as Sakura froze in her position, the smirk falling off of her pretty lips.
It was your time to be the one smirking. Quickly, you glanced over at the clock hanging in the doorway, almost signaling the end of your shared lunch break. “I liked the talk we had, really, I did, Sakura-chan. Now, however, it is time for us to resume our work.” You stood up and packed your bento lunch up, making sure not to leave anything behind.
With a heavy sigh and growling stomach, Sakura hurried after you.
Despite the horrendous turns her conversations with the two of you took, Sakura’s plan was perfectly set into motion. Not only did she manage to gather information about the two of you, but was now also able to judge whether you two would fit together or not. Intuitively, she came to the conclusion that her two mentors would do another well and be a good match, they just hadn’t realized that yet. That was what she was there for.
It was time to initiate step three of her ultra-secret mission.
“Come on, (Name)-san!” Sakura practically whined as she stood before you. “How can you just say ‘no’ to me?”
You had crossed your arms over your chest and looked at your assistant with a raised brow. “Easy as that: no.”
Sakura’s whining came to a sudden stop and she deadpanned, “Really?”
Admittedly, she had underestimated not only you but also your iron will deeply. Because of her miscalculation when it came to you, her plan was about to crumble right before her eyes if she could not stop that from happening.
“Listen, Sakura-chan, I appreciate the invite to go out to dinner together, but I must decline. How are you so sure that I do not have plans for myself this evening?”
The only thing that saved her right now was her crystal clear of a conversation you two had last week. “Because last week you said that this week you don’t have any plans and will only relax during your free time.”
Your mouth opened and your lips formed to imitate the letter o as you stared at her, saying nothing. A few times, you blinked, as though you were remembering the same thing she was remembering. Then, you lifted your hands in mock defeat.
“Alright, you got me,” You sighed and admitted with reluctance, “I’m not busy tonight.”
Excitedly, Sakura clapped her hands together. “Great! Congratulations, (Name)-san, I’ll make sure you are busy tonight, then.”
While trying to convince you, Sakura came to realize that you and her sensei had a few similar mannerisms, such as persistent doubt when it came to her intent.
“Again? But you have just invited me to dinner last week?” Kakashi asked, standing before her almost as a mirror image as you did an hour before.
If everything worked as intended, Sakura either created the best match ever (take that, Ino-pig!) or a double-edged sword.
“And?”
“And what?”
“What’s so bad about that?”
“You cannot buy me dinner every week, Sakura. It’s a bit much.”
“Can’t I spend some time with my sensei?” Sakura could see that he was becoming suspicious of her and that was not a good sign, not at all.
Kakashi appeared to be thinking carefully about his next words and that made her quite nervous. The feeling that welled up in Sakura was beyond nerve-wrecking.
“Sakura, I appreciate your kindness, but-”
She would not let him ruin her plans. “-What’s keeping you from just agreeing?”
He made an unintelligible sound from the back of his throat.
“Seriously, sensei, I know you aren’t required to do so, but when do you ever spend time with us? In a few months, you are going to be Hokage and then probably too busy to see anyone of us …” While on one hand Sakura really did want to spend some time with her old team again, almost all of them together if possible, on the other hand, she also wanted for both of you to be happy. So, she had to bare out her feelings and push them aside all at once.
“Sakura …” He was at a loss for words.
“Please?”
Underneath his mask, Kakashi bit his lip in thought before letting out a sigh. “Alright, but just this once.”
Sakura could not be happier.
Guilt was gnawing at Kakashi. His student’s words rang true because he did indeed not spend much time with them, especially following the end of the war. There had simply been too much for all of them to do, individual missions, the occasional life-threatening occurrence, and his training to become the next Hokage of Konohagakure.
There was no better time than now, he supposed.
Sakura had told him to meet her at seven pm at Ichiraku and for the first time in forever, Kakashi put in an effort to only be fashionably late instead of leaving his students to wait for over an hour. Just this once, he could do them the favor (but only once, they should not get their hopes up, it will not happen another time).
Up ahead illuminated the lights of Ichiraku ramen a figure, one who was tapping her foot against the ground and stood with her hands on her hips, appearing angered even from a distance. Upon coming closer, Kakashi could make out more of the woman’s features, among which were a familiar combination of bubblegum pink hair and green eyes and the angry scowl Sakura wore time and time again when he had been late. With an angry finger, she pointed at him and beckoned over.
(He would never say it aloud, but sometimes his only female student scared him to death. Sakura had an aura similar to that of her mentor, Tsunade, and one that had him internally cowering in fear. That was exactly why he quickened his pace to an extent that it would not be too noticeable.)
“You’re late,” This Was the first thing that Sakura said to him when he stopped before her. Her anger was obvious and so was the tension in her jaw. “but lucky for you, I expected you to be, so our guest did not have to wait for long.”
Our guest? Kakashi could only tilt his head in confusion, the gears in his mind turning in search for a detail he might have missed. Yet, he could not remember the information that seemed to have gone past his head.
The curtain protecting the privacy of those who dined in Ichirakus was pulled open and Kakashi swore that he could hear his heart stop. There was you, in person, sharing the same air as him.
In the most melodic voice, you addressed your assistant. “Sakura, who are you talking to- oh.” Then, you spotted him and your eyes widened.
Kakashi was pretty sure that time seemed to slow down to almost no movement in your presence. In the light of the streetlamps, you looked like an angel sent from the heavens above, an ethereal figure stemming from the myths of the gods. You were the most beautiful woman to have walked earth, he decided right then and there. Only his mask could hide his dazzled expression and the rising flush of his cheeks.
When you stepped closer, his last brain cell evaporated. “Kakashi-san? Are you alright? You look a bit pale.” The way you titled your head to look at him had him fixated and stole away his breath.
“I-I’m f-fine.” He managed to stutter out, too lost in your e/c staring at him to focus properly. Inwardly, he let out a groan at how the situation was turning out for him.
Immediately upon hearing that, a smile graced your angelic features as you looked at him. “I’m glad to hear that, Kakashi-san,” Then you turned on your heel with a glare sitting on your face to scold a certain pinkette. “Now let’s get to you, Sakura-chan. What do you think are you doing?”
At the tone, you used with her (reminiscent of the one of a scolding mother), Kakashi would have thought that by now your shared student would cower away in fear or at least show some regret, but instead, Sakura smirked of all things.
“Quite frankly, both of you are helpless when it comes to love and kami, I can’t keep watching you squirm around. It’s so obvious that the two of you are made for each other and fit well together and what do you do? You squirm around one another, seriously? I refuse to let this go on any longer and watch you two waste the opportunities you can have now! So stop acting like love-sick teenagers and man up and go on a date!”
Both Kakashi and yourself suddenly felt as though you were ablaze at the mention of the last word, both of you unsure of what to say.
Sakura decided to deliever the last blow she had in her arsenal. “No offence, Kakashi-sensei, (Name)-san, but it was getting really sad watching you two. I just had to do something. I hope neither of you will haunt me forever for this. See you tomorrow! Enjoy your date!” Before either of you could get a word in, the pinkette sprinted for her life as for away from you as she could, not even stopping once.
Between the two of you reigned a comfortable silence, one that you decided to break by clearing your throat. “Well, Kakashi-san, that just leaves the two of us,” You turned to face the flustered silver-haired, smiling at him so brightly. “How about we eat some ramen together since we are already here. What do you say?”
Kakashi swallowed harshly. “L-like on a d-date?”
To be reduced to such a stuttering idiot in front of you of all people was absolutely mortifying for the silver-haired Shinobi. For Kami’s sake, he was a war hero, the warrior of the Sharingan and the Copy-Cat-Nin, and yet, in front of you, he was merely Kakashi, a man who had to grow too fast. Nobody had ever made him feel like he did when with you.
While he didn’t enjoy sweets that much, your smile was the only thing sweet he would want forever in his life. “Yes. ‘Like on a date’, if that is alright with you, Kakashi-san.”
The silver-haired cleared his throat to regain his composure. “You c-can drop t-the honorific, (Name)-s-s-an.”
The giggle you let out was beyond adorable and sent a cupid’s arrow straight to his heart. “Alright then. I will, Kakashi. But I must ask of you to do the same.”
“Yes.”
With a teasing smirk, you leaned closer to him so your breath was almost fanning over his mask. “Yes, who?”
He swallowed thickly. “Yes, (Name).”
“We’re on the same page then,” With a click of your tongue, you again turned on your heel but this time not without taking the silver-haired with you. Your hand felt delicate wrapped around his as you pulled him along, right into the tranquil ramen shop. “Come on, pretty boy, let’s not waste any more time of our date.” Without a moment of hesitation, said pretty boy followed along in your steps, allowing himself to be pulled right into the shop.
(Secretly, Kakashi had always known that there was a reason why out of all of his twerps, Sakura and her metaphorical cupid’s arrow was his favorite.)

Two fingers unfurled to touch the moonlit forest floor, tracing the outline of a large paw-print stamped into dirt. Even splaying her palm wide with four fingers and thumb outstretched, Kagome couldn't hope to meet its size, dwarfed in comparison.
"Looks like I've found you again," she muttered, straightening from her crouch. Walking onwards and listening out for any hint of movement within the imposing woods- tall anorexic trees completely still with sharp looking branches- blue eyes remained alert, watchful.
She'd been tracking this one for God knew how long now. Months. Had it been a year yet? Though even the smallest victory of finding his tracks left no time for celebration.
Kagome frowned to herself. This particular beast wasn't usually so careless. He evaded her during daylight hours by wading through streams or keeping to rocky terrain, never giving the same name when mingling with villagers. Even when the Full Moon hit- he managed to be elusive and surprisingly clever. The smartest one she'd been sent to hunt. This time he'd either been sloppy or…
Kagome glimpsed something through a gap in the lower trees, located further down the hill. Smoke?
Surely he wasn't trying to trap her with something so obvious.
Frowning, Kagome set down her weapon and snuffed out the flames of her torch, checking her supplies. Enough silver bullets. Enough jewel shards. Her guns were in good shape, but she was out of herbal supplements to repress a certain annoyance that also occurred every month. Wincing, she put a hand to her lower abdomen, feeling it cramp.
Crap, not now.
She'd have to ignore it. She couldn't afford to lose this guy due to Mother Nature kicking her continually in the gut.
This beast had committed countless acts of violence- leaving behind a trail of bodies in their respective towns and villages. Unlike usual werewolves who sloppily left bitten survivors to run amok, this beast made no mistakes. He seemed to kill specific people and left them firmly for dead. He never inflicted the curse upon anyone. Surprisingly his victims were usually reported to be less than innocent citizens.
Due to the killings- a bounty had been placed on what the authorities referred to as 'the Killing Perfection.'
Creeping down a steep incline, Kagome stepped as lightly as possible within the relative darkness of the trees -autumn leaves crunching beneath her boots.
A lonesome house in the woods stood like a mourner in a graveyard under the light of the Full Moon, dark wood faintly eroded by time. Vines held the chimney in a stranglehold, but smoke puffing out of the top revealed it to be in working order despite the dilapidated state of the house.
Slipping around the side of the building and ducking out of sight from any windows, Kagome stopped with her back to the wall, loading her rifle while stooped into a crouch.
Taking a deep breath and slowly letting it out, Kagome wasted no time. She pushed off and rounded the corner, kicking open the front door with the barrel of her gun trained inside.
Empty?
Kagome didn't let her guard down, slowly inching inside and glancing around.
The fireplace was lit with healthy flames- a kettle sat off to the side, an empty mug not too far away. Everything else in the room had a layer of dust costing it, but the armchair lay newly cleaned. Footprints trailed around the ashen floor, some human, some wolf prints.
Kagome searched the lower floor that comprised of mostly empty rooms, before pointing her gun up towards the stairs, setting foot on the first step.
It groaned loudly beneath her weight.
Wincing, blue eyes snapped to the top of the dark stairs for any tell-tale signs of movement.
Wandering up to the second floor cautiously and looking around revealed nothing more than dust bunnies.
Kagome frowned, eyeing the open window. Had he jumped down and escaped?
Sighing with disappointment, she shouldered her gun and trailed downstairs.
I suppose I can sweep the outside to pick up his trail again, but I bet he's long gone. He probably lit the chimney to distract me before making his escape and transforming for the night.
Wandering over to the kettle, she touched its side.
Still lukewarm. He'd literally just been there.
And I was too late.
Kagome groaned.
"What a disappointed noise. Were you aching to see me that badly?"
Stiffening, her heart jumped. The silky sounding words had come from behind her.
Pivoting on one heel, Kagome turned her weapon on the man lounging in the armchair.
His image blurred, snatching up her gun to lurch the barrel upwards just as she fired, the blast piercing the ceiling- some debris raining down.
Golden eyes sparked, snapping the barrel in two before throwing her to the floor with impressive strength.
Kagome gasped, back colliding hard with the wooden floors, winded. She quickly grabbed one of her pistols and trained it on the man- who had disappeared again.
"W-what?" she panted. "It's a Full Moon. Why haven't you transformed?"
"Ah, you wish for me to change? Very well," his voice rumbled from outside.
Fur blocked out the moonlight pouring in from the shutters, brushing along the side of the house. Quiet, hungry panting filled her ears.
Kagome quickly fired at the windows, but the shadows melted away, causing her to wonder if it had been a trick of the light.
"I heard tell of a woman who subdues my kind before using shards of a blessed jewel to revert them back into humans…"
Paws padded around the house, nails dragging- scraping the forest floor. "You have pursued me for some time. Did you hope to transform me into a mortal like those you have hunted before me? Break my curse?" the male uttered.
"I knew you were strong, so I didn't have much hope of using them. Taking you back alive to stand trial for all the things you've done is a tall order," Kagome grunted, lower stomach clenching. She quietly hissed. Cycle blood likely marred her trousers now.
"Indeed. Even if you shot me with one of your infamous jewels though, it would not work."
A figure bent down, twisting through the front door with the ease of a feline through bars. Sleek silver fur gleamed with a fiery hue, bathed in the hearth's orange light.
Saliva dripped from exposed canines, muzzle pulled back.
The werewolf towered over her in size. He had the look of a distorted wolf- pale torso resembling a man due to broad shoulders and defined abdomen. He shifted to stand upright, hind legs strong, capable of supporting his weight. Thick hackles rose, paws more akin to hands tipped with killer claws.
Unlike the other beasts she'd faced, this one had peculiar red markings slashing over his cheeks, lower legs and flank. Glowing red eyes burned with the heat of the sun.
"You unknowingly came in search of a Pure Blood. I cannot be 'fixed' little hunter. This is how I was born," he purred, mouth unmoving, whispering honeyed words in her mind.
Those eyes strayed down to her legs, nostrils flaring. "And you are in heat, no less. A fine time to go hunting for a predator."
Kagome shivered, raising her pistol and aiming it between his eyes.
The werewolf gazed at her calmly, completely different from the wild, almost rabid beasts she'd fought with before.
A Pure Blood…
She'd never come across a creature so ancient. He looked at her with intelligence, as she'd suspected from tracking him.
"I-I'm not in heat," she muttered, finger grazing the trigger without pulling it. Why wasn't he attacking?
"You hurt those townspeople. Why?"
"I walk among men in my other form. Occasionally I find those deserving of death. Those who harm their cubs and mates. Those who leech of their pack and drink themselves into violent stupors. Sometimes they simply get in my way."
Kagome grit her teeth, "so you dispense justice alone? I don't disagree with cruel people deserving some kind of consequences but you don't get to decide who lives and dies. That's playing God."
He chuckled inside her mind, mouth pulling back from sharp teeth in an imitation of a smile. "Is what you do so different, little hunter?"
"I follow the orders of my superiors- unless I think someone can be saved with the jewels I bless."
Interest brightened his gaze, tail swishing once behind him.
Her only warning.
The beast knocked her arms to one side, striking her down with a headbutt to her chest. The action sent her gun skittering away over dusty floorboards, disappearing into harsh shadows. One human-like forepaw pressed down on Kagome's stomach, making her breath wheeze free from frozen lungs- his other holding her right arm down to keep her pinned. He then leaned in close, white ears perked atop his head.
A white maw drifted over her startled face, nostrils flaring, inhaling her scent greedily.
"Holy powers…" he uttered thoughtfully.
Kagome's left hand fumbled with the hem of her shirt, eyes narrowing. "I'm a former sister of the church. It comes in handy when dealing with creatures that go bump in the night."
She abruptly thrust her formally concealed dagger up, aiming it straight for his heart.
Powerful jaws snapped down, locking around her arm- the beast hissing as her blade ran off course but scraped down his neck and shoulder.
Kagome yelped, dagger freezing. Her hand remained free outside of the cage of teeth but she dared not move. Teeth mouthed her arm without breaking the skin, until a particularly sharp canine made a trail of crimson leak down the inside of her wrist.
A large, wet tongue roved, licking and sliding over the length of her elbow and wrist while they lay trapped within the hot cavern of his mouth.
"Now we have both shed blood tonight, little hunter. Are you satisfied?"
Kagome panted, gritting blunt teeth. She glared hotly into large red eyes fixed on her, looming close. From the new proximity, she could now see his seafoam green irises and slit pupils from within the sea of crimson. They dilated the longer she looked.
"You are quite the woman," he rumbled appreciatively. "What name do you go by?"
"K-kagome."
"Hn, I am Sesshoumaru. I thank you for your relentless pursuit of me over these past few months. It was quite flattering."
Kagome opened her mouth to reply before a hiss broke her off. The clenching of her abdomen took up attention for a moment, twisting like a knife in her gut.
"Heat can be painful to go through alone," he acknowledged, teeth slowly easing from her arm, eyes trained on her warningly not to try anything. His slick tongue unwrapped itself from her arm with a trail of saliva. He licked his maw hungrily.
Kagome gripped her sticky arm, glaring from her position on the floor. No bite. Just a nick from his tooth. It wouldn't be enough to curse her. She warily lowered her dagger.
"It's just my monthly cycle. I'm fine...gn…"
"You seem it," he mocked, wolf expression unchanging, though his eyes danced.
His great head lowered, hovering over her groin. His nose drew closer, inhaling over the red patch. His long pink tongue slid out, drawing over it with a lingering lick.
Kagome yelped, forgetting her guns and blades- grasping the dense white fur of his neck. "W-what are you doing?!"
He managed to look suggestive without human features, tipping his head slightly. "As a hunter, it must be difficult to find relief. You are always working, are you not? Chasing evil…" his voice resounded with the finest baritone in her mind, coaxing and soothing, completely at odds with his monstrous appearance. He almost sounded aristocratic. "Fortunately...you happen to lie beneath a beast tonight."
Saliva, warm and dewy, dropped onto her leg in small puddles. Sesshoumaru gazed at her while snaking his tongue out once more, prying it harder between her legs.
Kagome gasped, back-arching, a rush spilling up from her cunt to twist sweet arousal at her core. She viciously clamped down on such a reaction, growling.
"No one gave you permission to take liberties with me, pal!" she drew her knee up, attempting to kick him away.
Sesshoumaru released her arm in favour of grasping her thigh, chuckling while forcing it down. "Why protest?"
Kagome snatched up her dagger again, pressing the hilt against her chest and keeping the point raised outwards.
"Why agree?! Y-you're a…" wide blue eyes flicked over his strange, inhuman body. "I've never- n-not with a werewolf. I'm pretty sure that's breaking some sort of rule. Or law."
"I will not tell a soul."
Her gaze turned flat, fingers shifting over the hilt. "I'm supposed to be killing you. We just tried to kill each other!"
"Hn, keep your friends close and enemies closer, as they say. Allowing them into your bed does not seem like such an extreme, and I find there is always a slight thrill in fighting, is there not?"
It was a night of firsts. Kagome had never experienced anything like it in her five years of hunting. None of her superiors had ever mentioned an intelligent werewolf who could control their transformation and shapeshift at will. The only whisper of it had come from dusty old books stashed away in catacombs. The air in the lonely house felt cold, tickling her skin like a living thing, but the space between Hunter and Werewolf crackled with intensity.
Kagome swallowed, feeling squirmy. She tensed when a wet nose came back up to sniff at her neck. Warm breath fanned over flushed skin as his snout travelled up and down, scenting. It soon buried itself within dark hair, making her gasp. The suggestion of teeth scraped the crown of her head, joined by a pleased, rumbling noise. Goosebumps rose on her exposed skin, blood burning, alight with confused but obvious need.
His alien, paw-like hand ran over her hip and breast, cupping the side of her jaw. The shock of thin fur and monstrous, long fingers tipped with claws should've terrified her. Kagome had fought against such hands for years. Her body held traces of scars where such nails had hooked and dragged into supple flesh.
As it was, when his second stroked her inner thigh, Kagome shuddered. He smelled faintly of clove and damp earth. His movements were deliberate. The inferno of his eyes when they locked with hers shone with hunger- but also curiosity. That mindfulness and clarity of his thoughts was what allowed her to hesitantly touch the hand on her thigh.
It felt too large and gangly to be a human, fur and heat brushing the calloused skin of her palm.
"You can't bite me," she warned, laying the flat of her blade against his neck. "I'll kill you if you do- and that'll instantly free me from the curse."
Sesshoumaru smiled with his eyes.
He forced her down again, claws making quick work of her pants, tearing a sizable hole at the crotch.
The wiry fur of his muzzle immediately dived down, fervently taking in her scent with hearty, eager inhales. It sent a rush of arousal straight through her, hips jolting.
Nose, teeth and tongue soon brushed her sex, before the latter thrust inside, heedless of the blood.
Kagome cried out, toes curling, going completely still. The invasive probing between her legs filled her entrance, sinking deeper. It then flicked outside, allowing her to feel the velvet rough texture. It swirled experimentally over her clit.
Shakily tightening her now slippery grip on the dagger, Kagome gasped and shuddered.
"I-I thought you were going to transform into a man-!"
Sesshoumaru gave a rumbling noise in response. He gripped the front of her blouse, yanking to rip it open and fondle her breast.
"You do not wish to see the creature you've hunted feasting on you?" the rumbling purr lifted into something darkly amused, tail flicking behind him.
He grabbed her hips, swivelling them to flip her over. Kagome yelped and snarled, about to protest when his palms kneaded her ass, raising it and tearing off the remainder of her pants- the pads of his thumbs dragging to her sex, spreading slick folds and delving a warm, thick tongue inside her all the deeper.
Kagome kept a needless grip on the dagger, a strangled noise caught in her throat. His muzzle nudged and pried, urging her to rock against his tongue. Feeling warm, she clumsily grasped at her coat, yanking her arms free and tossing it aside.
Full breasts were squashed to the floor under the weight of the werewolf as he pressed her down, but her nipples- stiff and hardened with pleasure- received friction from the steady rhythm. The pleasure came in small, electric bursts.
"Fuck," she groaned, biting her lip. This was wrong. She shouldn't allow this.
A clawed thumb rubbing at the sensitive bundle of nerves between her thighs silenced that weak protest. It felt good. So deliciously good. Men scarcely put their mouth on her down there, deeming it 'dirty' or beneath them.
Kagome shivered, pushing back against the roving tongue continually thrusting inside her core, flexibly twisting, rubbing against her inner walls and licking with heinous, grunting noises like she slaked his thirst. They found a kind of rhythm without communicating through words, and an incredible rush built in her stomach- delighted to rock against his mouth.
Bowing her head and trying to concentrate on breathing, Kagome jolted and shamelessly moaned as his movements became more relentless, hungrily collecting evidence of her arousal and cycle onto his tongue.
"W-why-?" she managed out, straining to look at him over her shoulder- the tongue plunging faster in quick delves like he were mining for gold- sharp teeth scraping her entrance, adding rapidly to the throbbing feeling building up in her lower stomach.
Why was he pleasuring her? It didn't align with a wild beasts actions.
Blue eyes glimpsed glowing crimson behind her. With a sudden push of his humanoid paw on her back, trapping her in place- Kagome squealed loudly as Sesshoumaru pried so deep he wore her like a puppet with his tongue, grunting with savage satisfaction when she came from the action.
"Agh!" Kagome cried out, body igniting, juices immediately flowing into his mouth, which he collected enthusiastically with broad strokes. Somewhere between all this, she lost grip on her weapon. The blade clanked against the floors loudly.
After pulling away, the werewolf paid no heed to the red staining his lips, licking at his jaw in a decadent, gluttonous manner.
"Why what?" Sesshoumaru sat back on his haunches, ears perking, haughtily eyeing her with an air of pride. He probably took great pleasure in reducing a hunter to such a vulnerable mess.
Kagome felt like she'd received her answer. "Never mind," she caught her breath, forehead dotted with sweat. Her muscles burned despite the lack of physical exertion, body feverishly warm.
She sat up slowly, wincing at the slick feeling of her cunt. It fluttered and clenched, demanding more- wanting to be filled.
"I feel better now. We can end things there and-"
Kagome caught an eyeful of his crotch, entranced by the hard evidence of his arousal.
Oh.
She swallowed, reading the look in his eye easily. They wouldn't be stopping anytime soon. From the look of his long, thick cock, they'd be spending a while easing it in if he were committed to pleasuring her.
Somehow she felt alright with that. The fever in her veins wasn't satisfied yet, though she had reservations about allowing a literal werewolf to take her. However something undeniable had come to life in the pit of her gut, something raw and hot that left her wet between her legs and wordlessly begging.
Sesshoumaru's claws closed around her ankle, dragging her towards him- her ass coming to meet his twitching cock.
"I do not think you have unwound nearly enough. You must expel all pent up frustrations if you are to continue hunting me. I worry you will fall behind if not- your tracking has become sloppy lately."
Kagome whipped her head up and growled- just as the head of his cock nestled at her entrance, cutting off the noise and sending it choking. Blushing, she reached behind her, spreading herself for him- holding herself open while Sesshoumaru gave that jagged flash of teeth in response, slipping his thick length inside her inch by inch.
Whimpering and dropping her hands, Kagome bowed forward, trying to adjust. He sank even deeper. The sheer slickness between her thighs helped but didn't assuage the terrible stretch that threatened to overwhelm her. He was too big, his large and hairy body towering over hers, encasing her back with the furnace heat of his body.
"Ease yourself back against me- slowly," panting breath fanned over her damp neck. She felt him run an almost affectionate feeling lick up the sensitive shell of her ear. "Relax. This body was built to withstand many things," his palm stroked a path over her navel, circling up her hip where a scar lay. "You will not allow me to dominate you so easily, will you, Kagome?"
Panting, Kagome tried to get used to feeling every inch of him inside her, filling her clenching walls to the brim.
His hands were three times the size of hers, one settling beside her on the floor. The way he loomed over her made the formally fearless woman feel small, crushable.
"H-ha! As if," she shakily replied. Not one to give in, Kagome did as instructed, slowly rocking back against him just like before. She winced. The sensation was much fuller and tighter, uncomfortable.
Sesshoumaru hissed and groaned, rubbing at her clit again to shoot tiny bursts of fireworks through her system. It helped coax some pleasure back into things. Kagome gave a shaky moan.
Sensing her change in enjoyment, the wolf began moving.
She cried out, wincing a little at his slight withdraw- before groaning as he eased back in, creating a slow, building pace.
The thick, soft fur that covered him from crown to foot gleamed in the light of the room. Kagome could feel it hot against her back, tickling her skin. The strands began to stick to flushed flesh. Sweat began to bead, rolling down her shoulder blades.
"You take me very well, for a human," Sesshoumaru nosed at her hair.
"I can't say 'taking a cock' nicely is the highest compliment ever, but- thanks," Kagome panted. He gave an amused huff, giving a hard thrust in response that knocked her forward.
Yelping, she grabbed onto the first available thing. Her breath caught when her fingers met soft, warm fur. His arm.
It felt sturdy amidst the sea of sensations. Kagome held tighter onto it, bracing herself. She could sense the control beginning to slip from her new bedmate.
Sesshoumaru growled ferally, fanning hot, sticky breath over her shoulders. He then slammed inside her- ramming his hard cock completely within.
Letting out a loud, startled cry that bordered on a scream, Kagome bit down on his arm. He set a brutal pace, thrusting his cock with a quickness that blinded her. She squeezed her eyes shut so tight stars burst behind her eyelids.
Strands of dark hair stuck to her forehead, the rest bouncing and swaying with the werewolf's chosen pace: hard and merciless.
She sank her teeth harder into Sesshoumaru's arm, but he was completely silent inside her mind now. Whatever debonair and lofty charm he possessed had been shoved far back into the recesses of his consciousness, replaced with raw primal need and heavy grunts. He sought to fuck, and Kagome found herself mewling receptively, weakly rocking back against him.
With a snarl, he yanked his arm free from her teeth- rearing back onto his haunches and dragging Kagome with him, holding her hips while continually rutting into her.
Kagome went completely speechless in both pain and pleasure. The new angle nestled onto his lap with the steel band of his arms wrapped around her waist allowed him to reach new depths.
Letting out mindless moans, she rested her head back against his furry shoulder, body ablaze, cunt squeezing him deliciously. The arms holding her prisoner forced her to meet each thrust, creating an intense friction inside that brought her into a state of begging. "P-please- more. Fuck-! More, I'm so close, please!"
Sesshoumaru gave guttural snarls and rumbles in response. But there was something strange happening with his cock. She could feel it even while held under the haze of pleasure. Nudging up against her entrance, something thicker than his length and more rounded threatened to push inside. His knot.
Kagome couldn't react- distracted by another orgasm ripping through her at the most inopportune time.
The knot swelled and stretched her sex farther than she'd anticipated. With a jolt of his hips, Sesshoumaru followed her into orgasm, throwing his head back in a deafening snarl. A torrent of cum flooded her, painting her inner walls- all locked in by the werewolf's knot.
Kagome jolted and strained, mouth opening in a wordless scream. Full. She felt too full. Her sex strained, still squeezing him like a vice.
Slowly, his voice drifted back into her head. "Very good...worthy female...powerful. Should claim..."
"S-sesshoumaru?" she croaked weakly, limp in his arms.
A silver muzzle nuzzled the side of her head in response, crooning lowly. "Hn?"
"You uh..." Kagome panted, giving a weak gesture of her wrist, trying to rise and finding it impossible. He was quite literally locked inside her. "You knotted me- shouldn't you have pulled out?"
She wasn't concerned about being pupped- she'd handled dodging pregnancy with herbal aid before. However, like this, it made moving away impossible.
"Why would this one do that?"
Blue eyes blinked, shifting up to him. His fur plastering against her skin felt like a feathery bed cushioning her spine. "Because now we're stuck, for who knows how long. A few minutes to 30. I figured you'd..."
Want to get away. Re-establish our roles as enemies.
He acted the same as always. She couldn't anticipate his movements or read him.
A sinuous tongue she'd now become intimately acquainted with slid up her cheek. The fur receded at her back, and Kagome stiffened with alarm.
When she turned slightly, she found herself gazing at the pale, handsome features of a man. His markings remained, branding him as something inhuman despite the skin, pretty fall of hair and stern sweep of his brow.
"I intend to have you many times," Sesshoumaru uttered out loud, sounding much crisper in the quiet room. "In a multitude of ways."
Kagome opened her mouth to reply, gasping when a tongue thrust inside her mouth. Grunting, she managed to return the dominating press of tongue and teeth, biting his lip for good measure and feeling him shiver.
When he began moving again while locked inside her, she fell into the murky waters of arousal once more.
-----
The morning sunlight peeking through the broken blinds brought many aches and pains with it. Kagome heard the front door shut, footsteps drawing away before falling silent.
Sitting up quickly, a fur throw fell from her shoulders. It pooled in her lap, revealing the full extent of fresh scratches and claw marks littering her nude body, along with bruises.
She winced at the stickiness between her legs. The smell of sex overwhelmed the stuffy room. So it wasn't a dream.
Noticing a steaming mug of green tea sitting before the lit fireplace loaded with newly chopped wood, Kagome tentatively reached out to touch it. Still warm.
He must've just left.
Running her hands up and down her flesh, she found no bite marks. He'd stayed true to his word.
Feeling a little complicated, Kagome blinked upon noticing a letter sitting atop a fresh change of clothes on the armchair. Her weapons were also neatly arranged nearby.
Picking up the parchment, blue eyes flitted over the message.
'Pursue me once more, my hunter. I enjoyed feasting on you.'
Kagome pressed her lips together. She shook herself a little. This was still the enemy, nothing had changed despite a thoroughly pleasurable night. In the privacy of the room however, she allowed herself a small smile.
After eating, washing and dressing for the day, Kagome stepped outside.
Securing her weapons, she gave chase.

Giant!Shuichi Headcanons
Oh god this is like the fastest and less edited writing i’ve ever wrote holy shit-
Anyways, here’s some giant!Shuichi headcanons as promised (It’s not a lot, I know, but it’s the only thing i could come up with til now)
Warning: If you do not know what Danganronpa (V3) is, i suggest you not to read this (contains mention of death/execution/killing ) AND this contains huge spoilers for the game (esp chapter 1)
also I still haven’t entirely finished watching the game’s playthrough, so sorry if something here is written wrong according to canon.
- after Kaede's death, as promised, the other's get a punishment too, for not finding who the real culprit is; and the punishment is for Shuichi(since his problem will cause problems for others as well) to slowly grow to a gigantic sized human in the class trial.
- he feels sudden pain in his kneecap (caused by the growth ray ill explain what it is in the continue of the HCS) and he then starts growing.
- everyone start freaking out as Shuichi himself panics too, since he doesn't know why his eyes' distance with the floor grows further and further without a warning; though his head doesn't hit the ceiling and the era around him and his classmates doesn't get cramped for neither him nor his classmates, he feels dizzy and crashed under the confused and scared gaze of the other students, the pain in his body caused by the sudden and huge growth, and the anxiety feeling in his guts.
- after his growth is done, both him and the others are confused but Monokuma says that the class trial is over and they should get out; Kaito tries to start a fight with Monokuma since he thinks he is the reason why Shuichi suddenly grew (well yes but no, Tsumigi shoot shuichi w/ a growth ray when no one was looking since all of them were horrified by Kaede's execution), but Maki and Kiibo stop him from doing so.
- Tsumigi actually does this as a motive for the next murder attend(s) too; Well obviously her plan fails since Shuichi has no interest in killing any of his classmates.
-Shuichi doesn't show it, but sometimes he thinks about how his family and friends from the outside world would react to his new towering size; Will they disown him? Will they act like he is some sort of a monster, or rather a beast? Will they even give him a chance to explain what has happened to him? All these frightening thoughts, rarely give him mid night panic attacks and he don't know weather he can vent to his close remaining friends about it.
-As a normal sized, Shuichi usually avoids conversations and communication since he is introverted a lot; And as giant, his avoidant increases just as much as his height has increased. Although he doesn't mind being comforted b his close friends (Like Kaito and Maki, but mostly Kaito since he is the Ultimate Therapist and a Bro to Shuichi), thus he fears he might hurt them, so he usually keeps a distance between him and others.
-Now that he is a giant and can't even fit his arm through a door, he usually gets help from Kiibo when it comes to investigations; How? Kiibo and Shuichi asked Miu to install a filming function on Kiibo; Although when Miu was going to install the program, she realized there's already a filming function installed in Kiibo's eyes, so all she had to do was to connect Kiibo's filming function to a monitor so when Kiibo investigates something, Shuichi can see it through the monitor; Miu also installed a function on the monitor so Kiibo and Shuichi can communicate with each other during an investigation.
-The first person Shuichi gets to be around after his sudden growth is Kiibo; Since he is a robot and there's less chance of him getting hurt then the other students. Kiibo on the other hand tries to assist any sort of help to Shuichi, and Shuichi is grateful about it.
-Kaito is the second person Shuichi would trust himself with him (probably not because Kaito doesn't care whether Shuichi wants him to be around or not since he wants to comfort his friend in any way possible lmao). He sometimes brings up the fact about just how tall Shuichi has gotten and jokes about that he can totally reach the moon with just raising his hand up; It eases Shuichi to see how his friend doesn't seem to see him as a dangerous monster or something.
-When Shuichi grew to a giant, Tenko was terrified; She literally tried to get all the women in the class behind her to protect them while shouting "YOU F*CKING MALES!" because she thought Shuichi was going to hurt them; And in confusion, Shuichi tried to reach for his classmates behind Tenko's back causing her to become more feral (thankfully after that everyone realized that Shuichi has no intension of hurting anyone).
-Kokichi will try every single opportunity possible to freak the hell out Saihara; Fake crying about how Shuichi hurt him, giving him heart attacks and scaring him to death; Although after a few times of lying Shuichi doesn't fall for it anymore, but it doesn't stop the panta boy from making up crazy and unbelievable lies.
aand thats it for now lol, i know gtronpa fandom is probably dead, but damn i enjoy writing gtronpa

Komanami for the ship ask? >:)
Komanami
-Whether I ship it or not
YES YES YES A MILLION TIMES YES DO YOU KNOW HOW THIS BLOG GOT STARTED? It was started with my weird interest in this ship.
-Why I ship it or not
Honestly, I just find them interesting as each other’s parallels. Both of them seem to really understand each other and still have the dynamic “rivalry” setup that Byakuya and Kyoko do. But more than that, Nagito genuinely cares about Chiaki, but I don’t think he knows how to really express it. There’s times where he’s just weirdly protective over her and times where Chiaki puts in more of the effort to actually understand him more than the others. She can empathize with him sometimes better than even Hajime and just never holds it against him for setting her up to kill him. Not to mention, when she cradles him lovingly in the anime…
Oh and don’t forget the sparks when Chiaki was like “Actually there’s still evidence here” in the first trial and Nagito was like “… … I’m sorry… what was that?!” After that, he drank his Respect Chiaki juice. It’s awesome and tense and I love writing smut/fics where they are at odds with one another. :3
-My opinion on their canon potential (chemistry, canon interactions, etc)
Obviously we didn’t have them as a canon thing. There’s plenty of secondary canon interactions with them. And several times where Nagito is protective over Chiaki and vice versa. We know Nagito idolized her human self as an amazing source of Hope and seemed to break down as he was being brainwashed, letting his true feelings poke through as he was crying. We can speculate that this is because he genuinely messed up which is seemingly backed up by his crying out and asking Chiaki to understand and forgive him. But of course, he washes it off with claiming she’ll be a pedestal for Hope. Whether or not this is because he deeply cared for Chiaki or because his emotions are amplified by the brainwashing is the question. Personally I think it’s a lot of both.
The AI version of this is just as complicated. Nagito seems to care for Chiaki immediately, telling Hajime off for being noisy around her while she’s trying to game and being the only one to be concerned that she would guard the party against Monokuma. He also tells her to be safe and later on in the second chapter, doubles down on telling her to be careful around Fuyuhiko, not to let him get rough with her. During the first chapter trial, the two head off and Chiaki’s suggestions back Nagito into a corner. I think this is where he really starts to respect her and knows she’s one to watch out for. Afterwards, Nagito will go out of his way to praise Chiaki. He even makes it a point to steal her from their respective bf, Hajime, in the fourth chapter. But alas, he seemingly and probably smothers her, so Chiaki fled to find Hajime… only for Nagito to rush after her immediately and whine that she could be in danger!
It’s just such a funny relationship with potential. I wish there was more to pick up on, but at the same time, I’m so happy for what’s there and I’ll always talk about it!
They have a genuine chill chemistry if you want to see them in a more platonic and friendly light in canon… which I do like a lot. Canonly, I feel with all my heart that Chiaki’s love and Hope even after her death led to her classmates being reborn and able to find love with each other again with Nagito and Hajime. I think both of them still love her too.
-My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it (Favorite widespread hcs, pet-peeves, etc)
Again, I think KomaNami fans in general feel like they have to be defensive. They have such lovely art and wonderful headcanons. They’re all about exploring what is there and taking it further. But of course, it’s a divisive ship because Nagito is “only gay” and I feel like a lot of biphobic rhetoric gets thrown our way. In essence, like every other group in this fandom, we all need to chill and know that we’re all valid and it’s so much fun.
We KomaNami fans are small, but I think we have amazing fics and art! And posts too. :3
#danganronpa#danganronpa 2 goodbye despair#nagito komaeda#chiaki nanami#komanami#thanks for the ask!#of course I get the first ship my blog posted about#I’ll always love and treasure them

maybe this is just my kinnie speaking but i think a lot about the way that shuichi and maki interact with kaito. let me take an interaction from the talent development plan as an example.
just rewatching this interaction made me pretty mad again FLKJDSLKFJ i love training trio and i freaking love their relationship, but god, the way that maki and shuichi treat kaito here just drives me absolutely crazy, so let’s break it down.
i think maki is the more egregious offender here (because shuichi is a simp with manners) but throughout the interaction she’s very dismissive towards kaito, asking why he brought them out there (when shuichi says it’s something they do a lot) and then saying he was useless when he went with them to the novoselic, and saying he didn’t need to go along at all. but up until here shuichi does defend kaito a bit, even if it’s in a bit of a patronisng way (remarking that kaito “does this a lot” but “isn’t it fun” and remarking that kaito’s use on the novoselic mission was to invite maki).
and then kaito says that when he goes to space, he wants to see if he can see shuichi and maki from up there, which is a really sweet sentiment, albeit unrealistic. maki shuts him down pretty fast saying he couldn’t see them from that far, and shuichi says that he might be able to see the general region, and then kaito says that he’d like to take them up to space, and THIS is the thing that really frustrates me.
kaito loves shuichi and maki. romantically, platonically, however you’d like to describe it, it’s obvious that he cares about them a LOT. i mean, he tries to convince kaede to become an astronaut too in his ftes with her, but you could argue that kaito was trying to convince her to go to space because he really respects her (as indicated by the way kaito was the only one to consistently stand up for kaede through chapter one, and the way he was willing to fight the exisals to keep monokuma from executing her, and the way he was crying after she got executed... also he asks her for hugs a lot and it’s really cute kaito you simp ilu) so again, it shows, kaito says he wants to take people to space because he loves them. space is what kaito has always been most passionate about. it’s his longest standing goal and something he wants to share with the most important people in his life.
obviously he’s being unrealistic here!! but maki and shuichi have been friends with kaito for three years by now, and they should be used to it-- they are used to it, actually, as shown by maki’s response-- but maki’s response is mean!!! it’s mean. kaito shared a sweet sentiment about wanting to share his most treasured thing with them and maki responded by calling him stupid-- which, if you remember, kaito really doesn’t like being called!!! i’d go grab screenshots, but i don’t want to go sit and watch trials until i can find it, but often when kaito is called an idiot he responds by yelling that he’s not, and that he doesn’t like being called that. i know with maki a lot of it is just banter, but still, the utter disregard for kaito’s feelings just because he’s a hahaha positive himbo man hee hee hoo hoo is... ugh. it happens a LOT throughout the game and it’s really upsetting to me.
and then shuichi’s response is what really upsets me. i know it’s just meant as a tease, but let’s think about everything that kaito has done for shuichi and maki for a moment, here. sure, his practical abilities might not be on par with theirs. he’s not a detective and he’s not an assassin, so he can’t solve murders or fight off danger, but his EQ is INCREDIBLY high. he saw maki and shuichi, and he saw that they were struggling, and he decided to take them under his wing and help them to grow. he didn’t have to do that!!! he didn’t owe them anything. maki and shuichi could’ve grown at their own paces, of course, i believe in them, but a large part of their becoming more comfortable with who they are was owed to kaito’s help and love and guidance that he showed them over the years.
so the implication that kaito, an ASTRONAUT, would need them to go to space to save him, is utterly ridiculous. and mean!! it’s really mean. it implies that kaito is useless without them, that he needs them to go up there to save him (like they’re always saving him or whatever, which i find really stupid because there are absolutely no tdp events where they help him even SLIGHTLY) when he’s literally been training to be an astronaut and go to space for the last three years!!! it’s his special interest, and it’s so invalidating, to take kaito wanting to share that with them and imply that he’s useless at it, and that he needs assistance that they’ve never offered him because of it.
and maki’s response is really gross to me too, like kaito doesn’t have any other friends, which is totally stupid. i’m sure kaede would jump to his aid if he needed her, and gonta, and any other members of their class-- i mean, kaito is a nice guy!!! he helps people!!! it was easy to rally everyone in chapter five to save kaito because he was inspiring them!!! kokichi took him because if he didn’t, kaito would be there making everyone want to keep going. maki saying that implies that kaito is so annoying that they’re the only ones who would put up with him, that they’re these two skilled people who are just there because they pity him-- which isn’t true at all, i mean they’re totally talented but ALSO i know for a FACT that maki and shuichi really appreciate kaito, so why don’t they just act like it??
actually, i have thoughts on the reason why they behave that way. it’s something that happens a lot when you get comfortable with people. kaito projects confidence, this really strong, self-satisfied demeanour. it’s clear (or at least it seems to be clear) that he has a lot of self respect. so the teasing, to maki and shuichi, feels harmless, because kaito has high self esteem, he can take it. besides, he clearly has an inflated ego, right? so he needs them to take him down a peg.
except that’s not true, and you can tell that kaito has low self esteem because of what happens in chapter four. all throughout that chapter people rag on kaito, calling him an idiot, saying he’s useless during trials, saying shuichi is the only smart one. kokichi calls him an idiot and antagonises him over and over and over and shuichi NEVER sticks up for him, never once sticks his neck out and says “hey, i really appreciate kaito, and i need you to stop talking bad about him”. instead he just lets kaito fend everyone off alone, and of course maki doesn’t stick up for him either. that’s part of what fuels kaito’s turn on shuichi in chapter five. sure, you could argue that it was about gonta-- but shuichi also turned the tables on kaede, who kaito showed more consistent affection/respect towards, and he didn’t hate shuichi for that. no, the problem was that shuichi was getting all the credit and appreciation from everybody (which was fine!!! he led the trials) and kaito was getting dumped on over and over and over and shuichi was just letting it happen, soaking in all the admiration and letting kaito be called useless.
and i mean, that’d be hard for anyone, being called stupid over and over, getting forcefully logged out of the simulation twice, once by your own sidekick who didn’t even bother asking you permission first, but it’s clear to me that kaito feels inadequate, especially as compared to shuichi, who is so intelligent and composed. kaito projects outwards, he puts on this big grin and calls himself a hero, and that must stem from a place of insecurity. there’s no way that someone who gave himself a dorky title like luminary of the stars is super secure in himself and his relationships.
there’s another reason why maki and shuichi probably treat kaito that way, and that’s because when you respect and appreciate someone that much, and you struggle expressing it, struggle with vulnerability, it becomes... hard to express. maki hasn’t been close to someone like she’s close to kaito for as long as she remembers. she’s never had a freaking nickname before, i mean, her life is really sad. clearly some of the teasing comes from a place of love, of “i respect and admire you so much, you helped me come out of my shell, idk what i would’ve done without you” and not knowing how to express it. i’ve been there. we’ve all been there. when you love a person but don’t know how to say it, sometimes you just end up playfully ragging on them.
and that’s fine, if it’s two-sided. banter has to be mutual, it has to be something that everyone is enjoying and is comfortable with. you choose things that they’re not sensitive about, that they’re fine with you taking the piss out of them over-- that they take the piss out of themself over. but let’s think about kaito for a minute here, and whether this is really banter.
1. does kaito ever jokingly call himself an idiot? does he ever say he’s useless, or he needs people to save him, or he’s dumb? how does he react when other people do it to him? even when maki calls him a dumbass ingame he gets upset about it, but then he brushes it off, because genuinely being hurt over something like that requires vulnerability and kaito doesn’t really DO vulnerability lmao
2. how does kaito respond? does he tease them back? i think if this was a case of healthy banter, kaito would’ve gone with a jab of his own, like, “haha, you two are hilarious, you know you love me” sorta thing, and then moved on to talk about the moon like he does in his next line. he doesn’t, though, and you never really see kaito making fun of those two. he calls maki a coward in chapter three, but he’s just being honest with her, being blunt about her weaknesses to help her grow. kaito doesn’t sugar coat things, doesn’t hold your hand and walk you through your problems. he’s a tough love sort of guy and that doesn’t work for everyone but it does really work for shuichi and maki, to the point where both of them become pretty confident in themselves, owed at least in part to the way that kaito guided them through becoming the people they wanted to be. but he doesn’t really tease them, never calls shuichi out on wearing his hat (he doesn’t even notice it) and never makes fun of maki for being an assassin/having a kill count/whatever stuff they’re insecure about. of course he doesn’t! kaito is a good friend.
i think it’s important to mention here that kaito does respond with lighthearted indignation before he brushes it off, but i just don’t feel like this is healthy, two-sided banter. you see maki and shuichi acting dismissive of kaito a lot, despite everything that he does for them. he puts up with it, but if anything that just shows to me more how everything in the relationship flows one way. all the care, love, and respect goes from kaito to shuichi and maki. he takes care of them, he helps them, he doesn’t mock them. in return they tease him (even if their intentions are good!!!) and don’t ever really push him to open up, nor do they stand up for him when people put him down, nor do they particularly try and get him to be honest with his emotions. take chapter four, for example, after kokichi punches kaito and he doubles over, coughing up blood. maki and shuichi just buy that it’s a cold when kaito says that, they don’t push, even though they’re both clearly skeptical. respecting boundaries is important, but you NEED to push sometimes, you need to make people open up, because in that case kaito was literally dying, and he had to spend the rest of his life putting up a front.
i mean, even when he was dying he was holding back the urge to cough, acting brave and strong, putting on a hero face so that the two of them could go on to defeat the mastermind and focus on things that mattered. not on him.
i love training trio, i think these three work so well together and they can bring out each other’s strengths and weaknesses, but i just think that shuichi and maki do NOT treat kaito well, and unless he opens up and communicates about it, it’s going to lead to building resentments and an increased lowering of kaito’s self esteem. maybe this wasn’t intentional on the part of the game, but if it wasn’t, clearly it just shows that dr is incapable of writing healthy friendships. i’d love to write a character study someday about these guys, where kaito talks about his feelings and maki and shuichi realise they treat him like crap, but until then i guess i’ll just sit here and scream about it.

From the Responses to "I Love You" Prompt List: Could I interest you in 7. “Don’t joke like that.” or 42. "Mhmm"? for any pairing you'd like?☺
i tried to do both but "mhmm" doesn't really work as a noncommittal answer :( i hope you enjoy <3
geraskier in yearning, no. 3 (alternatively, come back to you again)
on ao3
pairing: geraskier rating: G warnings: self-deprecation, idiocy. in which geralt learns that pretending not to listen is a great idea until it isn't thank you @kingeomer for doing a onceover on this <3
Jaskier knows he talks a lot, and he knows that Geralt spends most of the day humming and grunting his way through their conversations, because he doesn’t think Jaskier is saying anything truly worth noting. Most of the time, he isn’t, but in the last decade or so, Jaskier has made it a game of sorts to say the most ridiculous, absurd things while they’re walking and seeing if Geralt notices.
It starts off innocuous enough, asking Geralt if he has ever considered shaving his hair, or if Geralt thinks Jaskier could pull off a mullet, or if he thinks Calanthe would have a heart attack if Geralt showed up for a job in Cintra. All met with silence or hmms because Geralt was busy thinking about … whatever Geralt thinks about.
So of course, when his heart aches with the silent yearning he’s been carrying for years, sometimes, he lets a small truth slip. Something big and real and scary, but one that he feels with every inch of his frail human body.
---
The thing is that Geralt only pretends he isn’t listening, because if Jaskier thinks he’s listening, he might actually try to have a conversation with him. At first, it was a useful defense mechanism, so that he wouldn’t be expected to respond if Jaskier asked a question about his childhood or what life as a witcher was like. It had worked, as Jaskier started simply answering his own questions with inane guesses and ridiculous ideals.
Though, he would silently admit to himself that it was fascinating to watch Jaskier’s knowledge of monsters and chaos - things that had been drilled into Geralt during the Trials - grow while he followed Geralt on the Path. It was a strong reminder that Jaskier was young and human, that in thirty, maybe forty years, his knowledge would simply be fodder for anecdotes and maybe a book, while Geralt would continue circling the Continent until he got slow and was forced to retire or was killed.
Before Jaskier, Geralt knew the path of his life. With Jaskier, it was a little more unpredictable, but he knew how it would end. Eventually, Jaskier would tire of traveling or find someone to settle down with, and Geralt’s life would go back to being predictable. He should’ve known that things were never going to be that simple with Jaskier.
“So, naturally, I finally had to tell the Countess I couldn’t stay in her court anymore because I’m in love with you,” Jaskier says and Geralt nearly breaks his silent, self-imposed vow of never engaging with the things Jaskier says. There’s silence and Geralt realizes this is because Jaskier is waiting for a response, but not a real one, and that’s when Geralt decides that Jaskier must be trying to get a rise out of him, like when he asked if Geralt would sell Roach so he could get a new pair of boots. The speeding up of Jaskier’s heartbeat is just anticipation for if Geralt is paying attention or not, he reasons, readjusting the hold he has on Roach’s reins.
“Hmm,” he says, keeping his eyes on the road and his face stoic. He can feel his own heart speeding up, and is suddenly glad that Jaskier doesn’t have a chance of hearing that from his place beside Roach.
Jaskier hums, a barely perceptible nod, and spends the rest of the walk strumming his lute and playing bits of songs Geralt doesn’t know the names of yet.
---
It’s been years since Jaskier first declared he is in love with Geralt during their walks. Jaskier’s own yearning has gotten to the point where he needs to say it at least once a year, but lets himself get away with more than that. Mostly because it’s easy to talk about his feelings when Geralt isn’t paying attention, and it helps him feel less like he’s about to explode with all of the thoughts he can’t share with anyone else.
“The last time I saw my father, he threatened to disown me if I didn’t give him any grandchildren or heirs soon,” he rambles, arms flailing around. “That was years ago, mind you, and he probably would’ve disowned me on the spot if I told him my life partner of choice was a grumpy, sterile Witcher. Not that he’d know love if it bit him in the arse. Though, I didn’t either, til I fell hopelessly in love with you,” he continues, strumming his lute idly.
“Don’t joke like that,” Geralt says almost immediately, and Jaskier freezes midstep, watching as Roach slows down ahead of him, her reins tight in Geralt’s hand.
“Sorry, wh - did you … how much of that did you hear?” Jaskier stammers, his fingers frozen over the lute as he stares at the back of Geralt’s head.
“Fuck,” the witcher mumbles, and Jaskier doesn’t need to see his face to know that he’s closed his eyes and his brows are furrowed in that way that makes Jaskier want to run his thumb over the crease, but the implication of his response is …
Oh.
“You’ve - have you always paid attention?” he asks, wishing his voice sounded steadier than he felt. His heart is racing and he knows Geralt can hear it, but he can’t find it in him to care because oh Melitele’s tits. “Geralt, look…”
“You shouldn’t make jokes like that,” Geralt says, as if that answers any and all concerns about this situation.
“Like what?”
“That you… that you’re -,” Jaskier doesn’t have to be looking at him to know he’s grimacing.
“Well, if I don’t laugh about it, then I’ll cry about it and neither of us wants that,” Jaskier says, finally walking forward so he’s looking at Geralt.
Geralt takes a deep breath. Jaskier hates that he can’t look away. “It’s not a funny joke. Jokes are meant to be funny,” he says, and Jaskier scoffs.
“Suddenly, he’s an expert at jokes,” the bard huffs, shaking his head. He places his hands on his hips and studies Geralt’s face, watching the way it contorts before something dawns on him. “Geralt, have you thought I was joking about being in love with you this whole time?” He keeps his tone level, but he knows his heart is hammering and Geralt can hear that but if he doesn’t ask right now in this moment, he fears he will lose his nerve.
“What else could it be?” Geralt says, his posture tense and although he’s looking in Jaskier’s general direction, the bard knows better and is sure Geralt’s amber eyes are locked on a fixed point over his shoulder.
A myriad of emotions flutter across Jaskier’s face before it settles somewhere between sad and hopeful. “Geralt,” he says, stepping closer to the witcher. He doesn’t move, but his shoulders tense a little more. Jaskier tries not to think about it too much. “Of all the things I said, that was never a joke.” Jaskier pushes as much sincerity into his words and his tone as he can, blue eyes locked on gold.
Geralt blinks slowly, and Jaskier is once again reminded of a cat with the way he seems to process the world. “Why?” he asks, his voice barely above a whisper and if Jaskier hadn’t been paying attention, he might’ve missed it.
Jaskier gives Geralt a sad smile, taking a slow step closer. “Why not?”
The scoff Geralt responds with is soft, a little wet, like maybe he’s got emotions bubbling up inside him too.
“Oh, Geralt,” Jaskier says, licking his lips as he stands in front of the witcher, close enough that he can feel each slow breath he takes. He cups Geralt’s cheek, his thumb rubbing over the stubble there. He tilts the witcher’s head enough that he can’t avoid looking into Jaskier’s eyes, and Jaskier knows this moment is fragile, that everything moving forward hinges on this moment. “From the moment I met you, I was smitten, and these years of learning about you,” he pauses, nibbling on his bottom lip. “You are the kindest, warmest soul I have ever met, and falling in love with you was inevitable, but I would choose it every day of the rest of my life, if you’ll let me,” he whispers, knowing Geralt can hear his heart racing and hopes that he smells of sincerity and truth.
Geralt’s eyes dart as he searches Jaskier’s face, and the bard waits, ever hopeful. The silence stretches for long enough that Jaskier opens his mouth to say something, but then Geralt speaks: “You’ll age, and get slow.”
Jaskier feels a swell of hope rise in him, because it’s not a rejection. “You’ll protect me—” Geralt growls, and Jaskier huffs— “or I’ll retire to Kaer Morhen so you can come home to me every winter.”
There’s a flicker of something across Geralt’s face and Jaskier thinks he must like that idea too. “You’ll die.”
“I’ll die knowing you were loved the way you deserved.”
Geralt grimaces. “I don’t.”
Jaskier places his hand on Geralt’s chest, patting the space above his heart gently. “Oh, there’ll be none of that, witcher, you do deserve it, and if I have to spend the rest of my days convincing you of that, then I will,” he says, giving Geralt his most serious look.
Geralt’s lip curls in a half-grimace, but he doesn’t say anything else and to Jaskier, that is a point in his favor.
Jaskier nods, beaming wide. “Now that I know you’ve been listening this whole time, I need to know: do you think I would look good with long hair? I know it’s your thing and all, but I think it’d be an interesting experiment. You could grow a beard while I grow my hair out,” he says, turning so he’s standing beside Geralt.
“For fuck’s sake,” Geralt groans, and Jaskier giggles, looping his hand through Geralt’s arm as they start walking again.
---
It’s quiet as they walk, and Geralt watches Jaskier from the side, his brows furrowed. He knows that part of the reason he pretended was to keep Jaskier from asking him questions about his life, but Jaskier had said a lot in those moments when he thought Geralt wasn’t listening. Shouldn’t he be angry that Geralt had lied to him? Shouldn’t he be mad? Feeling betrayed? Yelling and screaming at Geralt for abusing his trust?
“You are thinking so loudly right now,” Jaskier says, slowing his gait to face Geralt.
Geralt thinks he should be surprised that Jaskier could hear him thinking, but somehow, he isn’t. Like the idea of Jaskier just knowing that makes sense. “I’m just … confused.”
“About?” Jaskier’s face is so openly curious as he watches Geralt with a tilt of his head. Geralt is reminded immediately that this is a man, a human man, who has put his trust in Geralt, a witcher who has, for all intents and purposes, made a mess of that.
Geralt’s face contorts, trying to parse through his thoughts to figure out what to say, and Jaskier just watches him, waiting, and Geralt feels a knot form in his stomach. “That’s it?”
Jaskier raises an eyebrow. “What’s it?”
“I’ve been pretending not to listen this whole time.” Did Jaskier miss that fact? Geralt doesn’t know how he could have.
Jaskier nods. “Yes, and?”
Geralt blinks slowly. Jaskier, in fact, did not miss the fact that Geralt has been listening this whole time and he … was accepting it, like it was nothing. “You’re not mad?”
Jaskier lets out a humorless laugh. It’s not mean or angry, but Geralt can tell it’s hollow, not like his usual sounds. “Honestly, I’m more concerned that you’ve heard everything I’ve said the last few years. I’m trying to figure out if I’ve said anything embarrassing.”
It’s Geralt’s turn to raise an eyebrow. “You told me you loved me. A lot.”
“I said embarrassing, Geralt.” The way Jaskier says it makes the knot in Geralt’s stomach loosen, but he tries not to think about it too much. “I’ve made my peace with it, but it’s nice to know you’ve heard me say it all this time and never thought to leave. Though, does it make a difference that it wasn’t a joke?” The way he says it has a hint of apprehension to it, and Geralt doesn’t know what to do with that.
Geralt is silent, brows knitting tighter.
Jaskier inhales sharply, his heartbeat quickening and Geralt smells a hint of something like fear and his own heart drops. “Does it, Geralt?”
Geralt knows what he should say but the answer won’t come out of his mouth. “It should.”
“But it doesn’t?” Jaskier’s voice sounds hopeful, and Geralt hates the way his heart kicks up at that.
“I’m still not sure I believe this is all actually happening,” he admits, taking a slow, deep breath.
“How come?”
“Well, for one, you could do much—”
“I swear if you finish that sentence with ‘better than me,’ I will use my knife in one of the ways you said not to!” The only time Geralt has ever heard Jaskier raise his voice is in defense of him, so he doesn’t know what to do about Jaskier yelling at him.
“Jaskier…”
“I won’t hear it, Witcher. You’ll have to simply live with the knowledge that I adore you and that I cannot do better than you.” He says it with such conviction that Geralt finds himself wanting to believe him.
“That’s absurd.” What more can he say that Jaskier doesn’t already know?
“Yes, well, unless you say otherwise, you’re stuck with me.”
Geralt stares at him, which he realizes isn’t the right answer when the smell of fear returns.
“Are you — are you saying otherwise?”
“No.” The answer is quick and without hesitation, and Geralt doesn’t want to think about the why.
Hope blooms across Jaskier’s face, and Geralt feels guilt pool in his stomach. “Wonderful, then, let’s go on.”
Jaskier starts waking, but Geralt stays in place for a moment longer. “Jaskier?”
“Yes, darling?” The bard turns, head tilted as Geralt falters. Jaskier smiles and shakes his head. “You don’t have to say anything you don’t want to. Like I said, I’ve made my peace with it.”
“Oh.” Geralt studies his face, searching it for anything that betrays this supposed peace Jaskier has. He finds none.
Jaskier hums, fidgeting with the strap of his lute. “That being said, if you do ever want to, y’know, say anything, I’d love to hear it. Though fair warning, I may have to kiss you if you do, so.” He chuckles, a weak, hopeful thing, and turns to avoid looking at the witcher.
Geralt can only respond with a soft hum, not sure what else would be sufficient.
“Should we make camp? Roach is probably exhausted, aren’t you, darling? Oi, no nipping! Ungrateful little —”
“Jaskier.”
“Right, sorry, no bad mouthing the horse, I know,” Jaskier says, wiping his hands on his trousers.
“No, I — I wanted to thank you,” Geralt says, giving Jaskier his most sincere look, hoping everything he wants to say but doesn’t know how to is obvious in his eyes when Jaskier meets them.
Jaskier softens, a small smile curling across his face. “You’re very welcome, dear Witcher,” he says, holding his hand out for him to take.
Geralt nods, taking his hand and tugging Roach behind him.
