Ok so based on the most recent info...we can all agree that all Joost did was stick up a middle finger at a someone who was filming him without his permission, right? We can all agree that it was extremely manipulative to imply what he did was way worse by describing it as "threatening a female member of staff" and just letting it just hang in the air, effectively making it sound as if he had (sexually) assaulted a woman, right?

Also there're so many reasons why durge might want to deny Bhaal, aside from general "killing is bad, the god of murder is bad."

Orin betrayed them and it was somewhat from silent approval of Bhaal, so "god betrayed me first" kind of narrative. A desire to get revenge, on Orin AND on Bhaal.

A desire to live. Durge's fate, Durge's Destiny is to literally kill everyone and then themselves. What if they want to live? What if desire to live is stronger than desire to kill?

Alternatively, what if there's someone they don't want to kill? A single person for Durge to care about, a single person they would want to save instead of bloodying father's altar with their blood. A single connection like that is all what it would take.

A desire to break free. Durge can be completely okay with murders, loving murdering people even, reveling in violence. But they're their father's puppet and they could want to break free of it, to have their own will, to have only their voice in their head. To be a master of themselves with no one to kneel to.

The "I'm better than my father" kind of mindset. Durge is made of a flesh of a god, in a sense they ARE god. Bhaal was mortal once. Why would Durge listen to him when they can attempt to overthrow him, to become a new god?

Being compelled to other side. It's not unknown for gods to steal each other's followers/chosen ones. Look at Ketheric, look at Shadowheart. Myrkul is recently chosen-less after the Moonrise Towers. Bane would love to fuck with Bhaal like that. Shar is there. Good gods who would try to redeem Durge or use them against their own father are there. It would be a delightful power move from Selune to offer Durge assistance/ an alliance against Bhaal.

Idk, I just love how multidimensional the defiance of Bhaal can be. I have a lil army of Durges exactly because I can mold them into such different people

i am not usually interested in dramatically canon-divergent scenarios because the canon story is what compels me, but i've been obsessed with this moment ever since i re-heard it during my second viewing. from the perspective of someone who already finished the story once and now knows the truth - this was wild.

I am wondering a lot about what happens in the 'ideal' scenario. You know, where Predathos only eats the Primes and the Betrayers and then leaves. Matt made the point about how divine magic was around before then and would be around after, but the source would change. So. What fills that power vacuum? How is there any guarantee that it is going to be better than what they have now? There isn't and Ludnius kind of admitted that, but what drives someone to that point? To the point where they care about the action, completing that action, but they don't care about the result?

thank you! And honestly I might add a more connected story (i posted a miscellaneous post about the danny from that post because I was still thinking about him). The more I think about it though, yeah probably? I'd like to explore that reunion between Danny and Damian at some point. Plus Danny's experience in Amity Park and his growth from there.

The post was meant to be more of a prompt for other people to take inspiration from and add their own ideas onto, so the mirage was something I kept purposely vague so that people could come up with their own theories about it. But for my take on it? Magic user in Gotham that they got in a fight with. It was a physically visual mirage so anyone who was in the room could've seen it, and it was capable of being picked up on the cameras in their mask/cowls (which i hear is a thing sometimes) so it can be replayed back in the cave.

i continue to find ii3 baffling. why did they make it (this isn't to hate on the season, i'm genuinely curious)

#melonposting #this isn't meant to be ii neg by the way. i'm just confused about AE's writing choices #i don't remember if they ever said explicitly? at the very least i haven't heard an official answer #i don't think it was initially for any plot reason. my theory is that it's for the same reason bfb and tpot split #the episodes were taking really long to make and they wanted to go back to regular lighthearted uploads. which is understandable #so while ii2 was cooking they could still post new ii episodes with reasonable frequency #but that also raises so many questions #the biggest: why the hell is mephone here #seriously i know people like mephone but i'm sure having a different host wouldn't turn literally everyone off #and mephone hosting this show causes so many strange easily avoidable problems #like the screwy timeline. mephone ditches his show for what he experiences to be years and yet ii2 is continuing like normal #only a day has passed for them. why? maybe they'll try to explain it #in any event if ii3 had a different host this wouldn't even be an issue #but then they made ii3 really plot heavy for mephone which then ended up screwing itself over #the season justified itself as being mephone trying to escape from his problems #and he goes through character development to address all of his baggage and how much of a jerk he can be #that suddenly makes what seems to have been meant to be a lighthearted offshoot season into an imperative piece of his character (bizarre)#which would inevitably make his return to ii2 really weird cuz that would mean he had his redemption arc basically off-screen #but then they didn't even do that????? in the new episode mephone is still his old bastard self. nothing like late ii3 mephone #which means that they're effectively retconning ii3's plot out of existence. as it is ii 15 barely acknowledged anything specific from ii3 #but this in particular is especially absurd. ii2 can continue like normal only because they're acting like ii3 never happened #which is just insane to me. why even give mephone character development in ii3 to begin with???????#why does ii3 even exist????????????????????? his character development is literally the in-universe justification for the season #i'm so confused #i'm just glad ii2 can proceed like normal :thumbsup: but these are seriously some puzzling writing decisions

#tragically had to skip the 'are you afraid of me' exchange i love at the start bc. this scene is Long #super dark times #josh templeton #zach taylor #sam edits #btw i'm firmly in the 'Josh didn't kill John' camp. bc to me THIS scene is the point that... makes the most sense as Josh's breaking point/#'villain turn' if that's what you'd want to call it. because this is really when Josh... sort of 'officially' loses Zach. from early on in #the movie it becomes clear how much Zach is like... an anchor for him—the way Josh is just fucking *chanting* his name in distress during #the Daryl accident. The way Josh begs Zach to believe him that it was an accident. The way Josh turns to Zach for answers/clarity/direction #Like even if we want to take a cynical approach and think of it as Josh just latching onto Zach in the Daryl situation because he was There #rather than that being an established thing w/ them... in the aftermath of that same incident Josh is still looking to/depending on him!#Josh self isolates at first... but after they talk & Zach tells him they shouldn't act weird Josh goes back to school. (yes #he lashes out there because He's Dealing With The Crushing Guilt but *all* of 'em are acting off then—Charlie specifically calls attention #to the idea they all probably are) Josh goes to the party just like Zach said they should and is *visibly confused* when Zach seems mad to #see him there. He goes to Zach's house to talk and you can SEE how caught off guard he is by what Zach says. Even though the script version #of this scene is VERY different from the final version I do think this one bit of description from it is... insightful: 'Josh seems sincere #almost vulnerable. But Zach is too focused to see it.' LIKE in this scene Zach is already convinced Josh has lost it! He's trying to act #more neutral about it (claiming they could just 'draw a line') but we saw his phone call with Charlie. Because of his own guilt-fueled #paranoia—something shown pretty clearly through the assorted dream sequences and like tht scene of him walking in the hall hearing people #gossip about Daryl—it seems like everything lines up too well! that '*of course* it's Josh and what if it's *been* Josh all along and well #then the role *I* played in the situation really isn't *my* fault because it was all *Josh* and...' etc. even if that's more subconscious #But like... this scene is really when it hits Josh! from the moment he asks if Zach's afraid of him now like... there's a shift. although #Zach says he isn't... i mean he fucking stumbles on the word 'afraid' (like... he hangs on the 'f' sound a moment too long to sound natural #its very subtle but like Noticeable). But Josh sees right through him. Zach doesn't trust him anymore. Zach thinks he's the bad guy. the #monster. Josh feeling like he lost the last person he had in his corner feels like the most realistic thing to... push him over the #edge. like that's a compelling tragedy to me—the idea that these two poorly coping with the Daryl situation in these separated ways where #they *aren't* talking/communicating ends up CREATING the feedback loop that makes everything get worse and worse.#But for that to be the case... it wouldn't make sense for Josh to have just randomly killed John before this scene. I think it's a more #interesting story if certain things really ARE just coincidences but it's that Zach's paranoia won't let him see that 🤷

Oh, he liked how this question was phrased. SUPER STRONG, huh? Yeah, that's fucking right. How FLEXIBLE was he? He could answer the question about whether or not he could reach his toes right away -

❝ Of course I can reach 'em. ❞ Because the stranger had been so nice and called him strong, he would even demonstrate. He bent over at 90 degrees and reached down towards the ground. Nnoitra's ability to reach his toes was not necessarily because of his flexibility, but because of the length of his arms. His shoulders were broad and his arms long, so - he could reach his toes.

His flexibility... Was pretty good, he'd say. He never had a problem with being too stiff to perform a move. He definitely wasn't among the most flexible Arrancar though. Maybe it had something to do with his hierro, stiffening his skin and muscles. He didn't have that much use for flexibility when he fought, because he was so tall, and being flexible was more something you needed if you were on the defense, which, of course - Nnoitra never was.

2. flops! i consider this one a flop because i really wanted to like it BUT. i did not enjoy Things In Jars. it had a great premise, and i love a ghost sidekick as much as the next guy, but it just did not come together for me. and the most frustrating this is that the things i didn't enjoy about it don't seem to be the things that bothered anyone else who didn't like the book so i didn't even get the cathartic release of reading the two star reviews of the book!!

9. compels me tho: this is maybe a goofy answer but i read the first dinotopia children's novel (Windchaser) while on a road trip and it's pretty simple and predictable but DINOSAURS THOUGH. i don't know why i never read this as a child (i devoured A Land Apart from Time) but i know i would have been soooo annoying about it if i had. it's cute!

#thanks for the ask!#i love to blather about books. lmao #also. for the curious. re: things in jars #(i didn't put this in the main answer for some plot spoilers and the answer was already getting long)#i was annoyed that the answer to the main mystery that the mc was trying to solve... is told to you within like the first couple chapters #and so you get this feeling like... ok maybe there's a twist then!! but no #you just know basically from the beginning and then you have to watch the mc slowly figure it out herself. which was not very exciting to m #and the identity of the ghost is also supposed to be this big mystery but when we find out who he was it's like. ok? and??#it was a very unsatisfying reveal! because (bit of a spoiler) there wasn't a way you could have figured it out on your own! it's just like #(spoiler) some guy from her past she forgot about and never mentioned!! huh???? that's unsatisfying!!!!!!!#my last gripe that i will burden anyone reading these tags with. is how they talk about the mc's maid #(and when i say “they” i mean the narrator)#because the maid is clearly intended to be a trans woman. and i know that the book is set in the 1800s but like. it really bothered me how #often they brought up like how big her hands are or how she's so tall or how broad her shoulders are. like continually! throughout the book #it just felt weird!! i think the author meant well but like. when you constantly point out these things and make her seem So Different #and like An Outcast it just feels like. wow isn't mc such a good person for employing her. she doesn't care about what's normal in society #because she's just such a good person. like ok i guess the maid is just trans to. make a point?? or something??? is that what i'm reading??#like! yeesh it would be one thing for some characters in the book to treat the maid differently (given the time period and all) but like.#it mostly came from the narration!! and i wanted to be like!!! ok!!!! we get it!!!!#she has big hands!!!!! what about the size of everyone ELSE'S hands for a change!!!!!!#idk like i said i think the author meant well but just missed the mark on that particular character #ok i'm. done. lol #also sorry if you liked this book haha i don't think it was Objectively Bad but many things just did not come together for me :/#if you got all the way down here and read all of these tags: congratulations and hello cherry
