Does anyone else think about how chill Lucy Saxon is? They were together for about a year before the Doctor showed up.

Imagine you move in with your boyfriend and he does some kinda weird stuff like watches kids cartoons, eats you out of house and home, probably doesn't sleep much, is obsessed with hurting people and some dude named the Doctor and when you ask "Oh in what?"

"Hes not even a real doctor!!"

"...then why dont you call him something else?"

"You wouldn't get it." And he just starts pouting?

Or one of his favorite things to do is sit in a big fancy desk in a full suit and watch shows for 2 year olds with you on his lap but Oh it makes him so happy, and everone has their quirks right? So he cant be THAT bad?

But then you come home the next day and hes trashed the apartment and is rocking in the corner about the voices in his head?? Most people would leave there. But not my girl Lucy, she fr said "Sickness and in health. And you sir. Are very sick. But thats okay. Lets go get snacks and you can yell at the maid to clean it up"

"Yay! And were gonna get ice cream."

"Ooh ice cream :)"

Maybe this is a hot take, but I can see him just grabbing her and kissing her like all the time. Whether someone is around or not, just because he can. Obviously as a power move but eh. Poor thing was always so confused and SUNK into his affection like MAN if you don't start treating your wife right marthas sister is going to STEAL her from you. You big meanie.

I think about how loyal she is to him despite being told about him and shes like "Bitch do i look stupid? I've watched him eat his chicken nuggets with spicy peach jam and have a billion melt downs because he hears stuff other people cant."

I really like the scene where theyre watching that one woman get killed by the toclafane. The one where they keep opening the door and even the master is like "oof that's messy" then hugs her? I dont know. Him genuinely being like 😬 was kinda funny.

I have a headcanon that at some point Lucy admits she's infertile and can't have kids, and being the way he is, the Master is like, "Okay! We'll adopt!" And then the man brings home some murder cyber spheres like "Tada!! Kids!" She just sits and blinks like "What the actual?"

"I got us 6 billion kids!"

"...when I said 6.. I meant the age.. not the number.."

"Oh. Well too late now. Kids go say hi to mommy!"

She just swallows and gets tense like "Oh... hello.."

Not at all saying he didn't mistreat/abuse her (and literally everyone else) a shit ton, and he deserved getting shot so don't think im trying to do that but thinking about how WEIRD this dude must be and she really stuck it out seeing how looney he must have been.

Comics Read 06/4- 10/2023

Over this period of time I read Vagrant Queen a Planet Called Doom by Magdalene Visaggio, art by Jason Smith, colors by Harry Saxon, and letters by Zack Saam & Andworld Design. Came out at the same time as the short lived television series. I can’t say that the tv series was firing on all cylinders, but I can say that I wish it was renewed. It was fun, kooky and I really want there to be non- Star Wars and Star Trek space opera shows on television.

But as for the comic, I enjoyed it. There was something of time jump between the first volume and this so it didn’t really matter that it’s been years since I read it and I barely remember it. If the first volume (and the television show) could at sometime feel pro-monarchy by being so revolution-skeptical, this is the antidote. I’d plot is kickstarted by someone kidnapping the title Vagrant Queen, Elida, trying to reinstate her for their own purposes. The cult that the kidnapper leads to empower a new monarchy is funny sad. In my post about the first volume I said something about the art reminding me of Howard Chaykin’s American Flagg! I would not say that bout this volume. The panels are exciting, but  bigger and no where near as busy as it would take for me to make that comparison. Also it has a pretty warm color pallet, even in the cold of space. There is a wild cliffhanger and I hope that it is revisited sometime soon.

The Killer Queens are Back with a New Comic Book Miniseries

Dark Horse has announced Killer Queens 2: Kings, Not Wings, a continuation of the original Killer Queens. The miniseries hails from writer David M. Booher, artist Bradley Clayton, colorist Harry Saxon, and letterer Lucas Gattoni.

Max and Alex are who reformed assassins-for-hire. “During a day of questionable choices at Space Pride, Max and Alex bump into their old boss. The grumpy little simian tries to dragoon them into chasing down a runaway heir to the throne of Sarelia, an alien planet ruled by a brutal patriarchy. Little does he know that Alex and this heir have some, ahem, history. As Alex and Max race to save the runaway heir from a galaxy-wide bounty hunt, they'll dredge up Alex's past and confront her planet's misogynist present.
