The Cat and the Snake
Tumblr media
Mattheo Riddle x Reader
Summary: Every night, Mattheo finds comfort in a black cat by the common room fire. He is completely unaware that the cat is you in animagus form.
Inspired by @rilakeila's work
Tumblr media
The first time Mattheo spoke to you, you were curled up by the Slytherin common room fire in your Animagus form, a sleek black cat with piercing eyes.
You hadn’t meant to be caught.
You’d only shifted for a moment, seeking the warmth of the hearth and the comfort of solitude.
But Mattheo had entered the room in the dead of night, sighed heavily, and dropped onto the couch beside you, unaware of your true identity.
He ran a hand through his brown hair and muttered, “You’re lucky, you know. No one expects anything from a cat.”
You twitched your ears, listening, you looked at him.
“I bet you don’t get asked to be the heir of some psychopath,” he continued, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees. His voice was quiet but edged with bitterness. “You don’t have to pretend to be something you’re not, or live up to ridiculous expectations.”
You stared at him, tilting your head.
Mattheo Riddle, the supposed villain, the dark prince of Slytherin, was venting to a cat.
Then, to your shock, he reached out and scratched behind your ears. A pleased purr escaped your throat before you could stop it. How did he manage to find the perfect spot immediately?!
“See? You get it.” he smiled.
And that was how it began.
It became a habit.
You’d slip into your Animagus form late at night and find him in the common room, lost in thought. And every night, he would talk.
About how people only saw his last name, never him.
About the expectations, the pressure, and the whispers that followed him everywhere he went.
And in return, you would rub against his legs, curl up in his lap, or bump your head against his arm. You tried your best to silently reassure him.
He never knew it was you.
Until the night he almost kissed you.
It happened at a party in the Slytherin common room.
The air was filled with the scent of fire, whiskey and laughter, the green-tinged light flickering across the walls.
You stood by the bookshelf, watching Mattheo from across the room.
He was leaning against the desk, swirling his drink in one hand, his dark eyes scanning the crowd. Then, as if sensing your gaze, he turned.
And smirked.
Before you could react, he pushed off the counter and made his way toward you, moving through the crowd with ease.
“Didn’t think you were the party type,” he said, stopping just inches from you.
You swallowed. “I couldn't say the same for you.”
His smirk deepened. His gaze flickered over you as if studying something he couldn’t quite place. “You remind me of someone.”
Your heart pounded. “Oh?”
He leaned in slightly, his breath warm against your cheek. “A cat, actually. One I’ve been talking to a lot lately.”
Ice ran through your veins.
Did he realise?
You forced a small laugh. “You talk to a lot of cats?”
“Just one,” he murmured. “And she reminds me of you.”
Your breath caught in your throat, you didn't know what to say.
“I don’t know why, but I feel… comfortable with you,” he admitted, his voice quieter now. “Like I can say things I wouldn’t tell anyone else.”
You could feel the heat radiating off him, the scent of his cologne, dark, warm and intoxicating. He was so close. If you tilted your head just slightly, his lips would brush against yours.
And that terrified you.
Because if he kissed you now, it would be a lie.
He thought he had only opened up to a cat, not you.
So before he could move, before you could lose yourself in the moment, you stepped back. “I should go.”
His brows furrowed, hurt flickering across his face. “Did I-?”
“No,” you cut in. “It’s just...” You hesitated, searching for an excuse. “I’m not what you think I am.”
And then you fled.
You ran back to your room.
You avoided him after that.
For days, you refused to shift into your animagus form, afraid that if you did, he’d say something that would break you completely.
You couldn’t keep pretending.
You decided that you would tell him the truth.
So one night, you waited for him in the common room, your real self this time, not the cat.
Your heart is hammering in your chest.
He entered as he always did, running a hand through his messy curls. But when he saw you instead of the feline form he was expecting, he froze.
“You’re up late,” he said carefully.
You took a deep breath. “I need to tell you something.”
He studied you for a long moment, then sat down. “Alright.”
Your pulse pounded in your ears now. Slowly, you stepped back and shifted.
A swirl of magic, a shimmer in the air, then you were on four paws, staring up at him with wide eyes.
His breath caught.
You shifted back.
Silence stretched between you.
Then he let out a sharp, humourless laugh. “You’re kidding.”
You swallowed hard, but you couldn't say a word.
He stood abruptly, pacing. “All this time…” He dragged a hand down his face. “Fuck, I told you everything.”
You flinched. “I never meant to deceive you.”
“Did you think it was funny?” His voice was filled with frustration, but beneath it, there was something raw. “Watching me spill my damn soul to a cat?”
“No!” You stepped closer. “I listened because I cared, Mattheo. Because I-” You hesitated, then whispered, “Because I love you.” You reached for him hesitantly. “Everything I felt as a cat, I still feel as me.”
His jaw clenched.
He looked at you for a long, agonising moment then, to your utter surprise, he exhaled and muttered, “Bloody hell.”
Before you could realise what was happening, he was kissing you.
His hands tangled in your hair, pulling you close, his lips pressing against yours with a desperate kind of longing. You melted into him, every fear, every doubt vanishing in the warmth of his hold.
When he finally pulled away, his forehead rested against yours.
“You’re infuriating,” he murmured.
You laughed softly. “And you talk to cats.”
His lips curled into a smirk. “Only one.”
His fingers trailed down your arm before he intertwined them with yours.
“Stay with me?” he asked quietly.
You squeezed his hand.
“Always.”

CHAPTER ONE: YOU
Tumblr media
The only thing grounding you at this moment is Sirius’ touch, his palms pressed on your knees as he’s crouched down in front of you. You’re sitting on the bench provided in the hospital hallways, still spiralling, still convincing yourself that maybe if you pinch your skin hard enough, you’ll jolt awake and all of this will be over.
“____,” he says your name, the sound of his voice enough to coax you to flutter your eyes open, meeting his gaze that is uncharacteristically soft.
You blink.
It’s funny, the more you think of it. The first person you never thought you’d call in an instance like this is Sirius. Mostly because… well, he’s Sirius. He’s the more annoying version of your brother, the bad influence, the one who only had to smirk and you’d automatically know that he’s trouble.
But perhaps if there’s also something you know about Sirius, it’s that his bond with James is something else. The two of them have always been more like brothers than friends, this unexplainable connection they had so seamless and natural that being part of Sirius’ life and him to yours was eventually easy too.
You feel his thumb gently rub against the material of your pants.
“Hm?” you weakly ask, dazed and exhausted.
“We have to contact Lily’s family,” he says. “I’m not sure if you have her sister’s number but—”
“I have it,” you say, sighing and rubbing your face with your palms. “I mean, I think I do. I used the number to contact Petunia before when I was helping out with Lily's bachelorette party, but she never responded.”
“Well, it’s still better to try.”
“Yeah, of course.” You take your phone out and go to your contacts, scrolling, but as you do, Sirius grabs the device from your fingers and moves to take the vacant spot beside you.
“I’ll handle it,” he explains, taking his own phone out and transferring the number to his.
You nod and go back to staring at the floor, no energy to argue when you can’t even think straight.
It’s a good thing that a pediatric nurse took Harry in the meantime as you gather your thoughts. She probably saw how messed up you were earlier when you were crying in Sirius’ arms, or maybe it was protocol for situations like these, when family members with children didn’t have the emotional capacity to look after them that they just volunteer to do the job for a few hours. You’re not sure. You’re just grateful that you don’t have to balance being a caring aunt and a mourning sister amidst everything at the moment.
“You want me to call Moony?” You hear Sirius speak again, your phone being handed back to you.
You swallow hard. More people being told about what happened would make it more real. Still, you nod. “Okay.”
“Alright.” He does a motion of standing up, though halts halfway, his bottom falling back on the seat as he touches your knee again.
You look at him. You see the cracks of pain in his eyes that he’s somehow doing a far better job with holding it together unlike you are. “Don’t,” you mumble and he raises an eyebrow.
“Don’t what?”
“Don’t start saying sorry like the shit people do when they discover someone from your family died.”
A halfhearted snort escapes him. “That wasn’t what I was  going to do.”
“No?”
“No.” He shakes his head, a few strands of his dark hair falling from where it’s tucked behind his ear.
You take a slow breath. “Then why are you looking at me like that?”
“Like a guy who’s concerned about you?” He points out. “I’m just making sure you’re alright, ____,” he says, his features softening up in a manner that appears so unusual, “which I know sounds stupid because it’s obvious that you’re not. Nobody in the right mind would be.”
Your eyes begin to water again, the reminder of why you’re in this horrible state filling up your head.
At the sight, Sirius curses under his breath, wordlessly bringing a hand on the back of your head to bring you closer, holding you as you pathetically find yourself crying for the hundredth time. “Look,” he begins, speaking against your hair, “you have me, okay? We’ll figure it out together.”
“How?”
“I don’t know. There’s no bloody manuals with these things, is there?”
“There should be. Something titled Grief for Dummies—or How to Survive When Every Family You Have Is Dead.”
“Stop that.” He hisses.
But it’s true, you want to say, with the exception of Harry, of course. Other than your nephew? No one is here anymore. Your mother died giving birth to you, your father died a few years shortly after, and now James is gone too. You’re having a hard time grasping how you’re supposed to live your life moving forward.
“I’m scared, Sirius,” you murmur, not knowing why you’re on the roll with the vulnerability tonight, but you can’t seem to stop yourself. “I wish… I wish this was just easier. That it didn’t have to happen. Or it was me who was—”
”Hey,” he interjects, pulling away and placing a warm hand on your cheek. It smells faintly of cigarettes, and if it wasn’t for the fact that your body seeks for comfort right now, you would have shoved it away. “I mean it. Stop it. I won’t tolerate this kind of shit talk.”
“Or what?” you deadpan. “At this point, what’s the worst thing that could happen?”
His lips press in a thin line. And then he brings you under his chin rubbing a thumb on your arm and letting you breathe in and out.
You don’t know how long the two of you sit there, but time has been moving far too slowly since James and Lily’s death. Eventually, you find yourself being led to the pediatric observation room of the hospital where Harry is, Sirius’ steady arm on your shoulders, like he’s afraid you’d collapse on the ground if he doesn’t hold you tight enough—which to be fair, you would agree with.
“Alright, here’s what we’re going to do,” he says just as you’re about to approach the doors leading to where your nephew is, “I’ll handle James and Lily’s funeral arrangements. I’ll be in charge of calling any relatives or friends that may want to know about their passing too.”
You open your mouth to speak but he shakes his head, continuing on.
“If you’re worried about the expenses, I have it handled. We can talk about the cost after everything is done if you want to split it—or not. You don’t have to pay it back, I don’t really care. I just want you to know that you don’t have to think about that right now, ___.”
You frown. It seems too much to let Sirius handle like that when technically it shouldn’t be his responsibility. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah, of course.”
“Okay, but—” you sigh, combing your fingers along your hair— “if you’re short on money or whatever—I’m not sure how much it’s supposed to cost—just tell me, okay? Maybe they have life insurance that we can—” You feel like rambling again and it’s Sirius’ hands on your shoulders that grounds you back on your feet.
“Hey,” he says and when you look up, there’s a hint of that familiar mischievousness in his eyes, “do you really think I would run short on money?”
You scoff out a halfhearted laugh, the first of the evening. “Show off.”
“I’m serious.”
“I know who you are.”
“That’s not—” He chuckles, rolling his eyes, while the ends of your mouth twitch. “Anyway, we’re clear on that, okay? I handle the funeral arrangements.”
You nod. “And what about me? What am I supposed to do?”
“Start finding a lawyer. For legal custody over Harry.”
Your head begins to pound at the reminder of another thing you have to stress over. “Yeah, fuck. I thought those things were automatic.”
“I can give Regulus a call. He might know someone.”
You can’t help but gape at him. “Since when did you become all chummy again with Regulus?”
“Since Walburga died.” He shrugs, mentioning the name of his mother without any hint of sadness or regret. “Turns out having both of our parents dead would make it easier to be brothers.”
Your mind flashes back to four years ago when Walburga died. You discovered it through James who broke the news like he was only informing you that your favorite cereal was out of stock at the market. And you can’t blame him for the showcase of indifference, not when to his eyes and yours, the rest of the Black family are not exactly the type of people you’d mourn about.
You knew that from the moment Sirius, at the age of 16, arrived at the doorstep of your household, announcing that he ran away from home and that he could no longer live in the same space as his horrid parents.
Still, you sent a text to Sirius when you heard about his mother’s passing, and he replied with a remark about finally being a freeman that you snorted to when you read it.
“So, you want me to call Reg?” he asks, and the nickname throws you off a bit.
You take a long inhale. “You’ve already been doing so much for the last five hours.”
“And?”
“And I think I can handle finding a lawyer on my own.”
“You think?” His piercing gray eyes analyze you like he has you memorized inside and out. “You might be forgetting, but my family has a law firm. One that Reg is co-managing right now.”
“Stop flexing how rich you are, Sirius,” you say as a joke.
He smirks. “It’s not a flex, it’s a fact.”
“Shut up.”
The smirk widens. “That settles it then. I’ll call Reg too, and I’ll forward you the number when he refers me to a competent family lawyer.”
“You don’t have to—” You stop talking when he raises a brow. “I just—it’s too much. You’ve already been doing so much,” you reiterate.
“____,” he says your name in a gentle tone, a tone that doesn’t match the ruggedness of his exterior, “let me do it. I’m not only doing this for you and Harry. I’m doing it for James.”
Your throat tightens and there’s a pressure building between your eyes.
“He wouldn’t want me to let his kid sister do this on her own,” he adds.
You huff, staring upwards and blinking to prevent any tears from spilling once again. “I’m not a kid.”
“I’m well-aware.”
With that, the conversation leads to you giving him the greenlight to talk to Regulus about finding a capable family lawyer, and Sirius gives you a tired smile before heading to the parking lot to make his calls and probably to have a smoke too, judging from how he’s already placing a stick between his teeth as he stalks off.
That leaves you to enter the pediatric observation room where Harry is bundled in, sleeping and completely unaware that it’s just you who he has now. You talk to the nurse and thank her, saying she can take a break and that you’ll call her again when you need her, and she nods and offers a warm smile.
Once the door closes, you look at Harry, caressing his head as a shaky breath escapes you.
He coos, opening his green eyes for a millisecond and then reaching out, causing you to go ahead and present an index finger to have his little hand fist around it.
At that, your heart melts and your eyes begin to get glassy once more. Suddenly you find all the motivation you need to keep going, to push back any selfish and negative thoughts you had earlier about not knowing what to live for now that James is gone.
Your mind brings you back to when your father died and James was perhaps in the same position you are at this moment, clueless at the age of 20 on how he’s supposed to take care of himself and his younger sister without the guidance of anyone but Google or Reddit. Even though he and Lily were already together, and that her presence gave him all the comfort and strength to be strong, you understand now how it must have taken all his courage to step up and never let you see even an ounce of devastation in his state.
“Guess you’re stuck with me, buddy,” you murmur.
Harry’s hand tightens.
You try to hold it in, but a sob escapes, shaky and quiet. You wipe them away with your free hand hastily, promising that as soon as you wake up tomorrow, you’re going to get your shit together and be the best person your nephew will have by his side.
Just like James was.
You’ll spend the rest of your life making sure of it.

Tumblr media
The first time Draco Malfoy realized he had a problem, you were standing in the middle of the Great Hall, sunlight catching the edges of your hair like a halo, laughing at something Longbottom had said. And Draco, miserable, jaded, and permanently unimpressed, felt his chest tighten in a way that was neither pleasant nor easily ignored.
It got worse from there.
You were a Hufflepuff—and not just any Hufflepuff. No, you were the type who smiled at everyone, helped first years who were struggling with their books, and actually enjoyed Care of Magical Creatures. You were insufferably kind, perpetually bright-eyed, and worst of all, completely immune to his brooding glares.
Draco tried everything to make you frown. Sarcasm, snide remarks, even the occasional well-placed jab about your House. Nothing worked. Every time he threw a storm cloud in your direction, you batted it away with nothing but a tilt of your head and a ridiculous, knowing smile.
"You're in a mood today," you'd say, voice warm, like you were talking to some poor stray in need of affection.
"I'm always in a mood," he would snap back, only to regret it when you laughed, like he'd said something terribly amusing.
It was infuriating... yet endearing.
But the real problem? The real problem was that Draco Malfoy was completely, utterly, devastatingly obsessed with you.
He hated the way his chest clenched when you tucked a stray curl behind your ear. He loathed the way his face burned when you touched his arm in passing. He despised that he had memorized the exact shade of your eyes, the way your lips pursed when you were deep in thought, the way your nose crinkled when you laughed too hard.
It was absurd. He was absurd.
And yet, here he was, letting you drag him by the wrist down the corridor, your fingers curled around his as if it was the most natural thing in the world.
"Where are we going?" he grumbled, even though he already knew he'd follow you anywhere.
"The courtyard," you chirped, throwing him a sunny glance over your shoulder. "You need fresh air."
"I need a potion to put me out of my misery."
"Tsk., Draco," you sighed theatrically. "You're so dramatic."
He rolled his eyes, but he didn't pull away. Because the thing was—he liked your hands on him. He liked the way you said his name, like it wasn’t something sharp and bitter, but something warm and worth saying. He liked being pulled in ways that challenged him both emotionally and physically.
Merlin help him, but he was so far gone.
The two of you emerged into the courtyard, where the late afternoon sunlight cast golden patches across the stone benches. You pulled him toward a secluded corner beneath a tree, the shade offering a welcome reprieve from the lingering warmth of the day.
"Sit," you ordered, nudging him onto the bench before plopping down beside him, far too close for his sanity.
Draco let out an exaggerated sigh but obeyed, watching as you tilted your face toward the sky, basking in the sunlight filtering through the leaves. His fingers twitched at his side, resisting the ridiculous urge to reach out and tuck a stray strand of hair behind your ear.
"See? Isn't this nice?" you hummed, stretching your arms before turning to him with that impossibly bright smile.
Draco scoffed. "Define nice." He pursed his lips, holding any visual expressions of pleasure he was in fact having.
You bumped your shoulder against his, grinning. "Admit it, Malfoy. You enjoy spending time with me."
He turned his head sharply, glaring at you like you had just insulted his entire lineage. "I tolerate you."
"Mhm," you hummed knowingly, eyes twinkling with mischief. "That's why you're still here instead of sneaking off to sulk in the dungeons."
Draco groaned, throwing his head back against the bench. "You're exhausting."
You giggled, and something in his chest tightened painfully. "And yet, you always find yourself next to me."
Draco refused to dignify that with a response, instead choosing to stare at the swaying branches above. But Merlin, you were right. He did always find himself next to you, drawn in by something he couldn’t quite name.
In the beginning, it was your confidence. The way you weren't inherently afraid of him or his status. Then he became comfortable around you - your presence and repetition was something he sought out and even looked forward to.
The silence between you stretched comfortably, filled only by the distant chatter of students and the rustling of leaves in the breeze. He risked a glance at you, only to find you watching him with an easy smile, as if you had all the time in the world just to sit there and look at him.
His throat went dry. What was he supposed to do with that? With you? With the way you just—existed, all warmth and softness, melting down the jagged edges he had spent years fortifying?
Before he could stop himself, he reached out, brushing a stray leaf from your hair. You blinked in surprise, lips parting slightly, and he quickly looked away, suddenly finding the stone pathway very interesting.
"You had—" He cleared his throat. "A leaf."
"Oh." You touched your hair, your fingers ghosting over the spot he had just touched, and for a moment, Draco was convinced his heart had stopped altogether.
You tilted your head, considering him. "You know, for someone who pretends to be so grumpy, you’re actually quite sweet."
Draco made a sound of protest, but you simply laughed, reaching over to poke his arm playfully. "Don't worry, I won’t tell anyone. It’ll be our little secret."
—------
Draco Malfoy was in a foul mood.
At first, he didn’t know why. Breakfast in the Great Hall was the same as always—Blaise was reading the Prophet with mild disinterest, Pansy was droning on about something he didn’t care about, and the usual hum of conversation filled the space. Everything was normal. Except it wasn’t.
Because you weren’t there.
Draco found himself frowning at the Hufflepuff table, where you were supposed to be sitting, laughing at some absurd joke, filling the air with that insufferably warm presence of yours. But your usual spot was empty, your absence unsettling in a way he didn’t want to acknowledge.
Not that he cared. Of course not. Why would he? It wasn’t as if he had grown accustomed to the way mornings felt lighter when you were around. It wasn’t as if he looked forward to your stupid smile, the way you always seemed to brighten the dreary Hogwarts castle with nothing but your presence.
He scowled and stabbed at his eggs, ignoring the way his appetite seemed to have vanished.
“You look like you’re plotting someone’s murder,” Blaise commented lazily, flipping a page of the Prophet.
Draco rolled his eyes. “Brilliant observation.”
Pansy leaned closer, smirking. “Who’s the unlucky sod? Don’t tell me it’s Potter again—”
“No one,” Draco snapped, feeling irrationally irritated. He shoved his plate away and leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. “Where’s the fire, Parkinson?”
Pansy snorted. “I was just going to say that if you keep glaring at the Hufflepuff table like that, they’re going to think you’ve hexed one of their own.”
Draco tensed. Had he really been staring that long? He forced himself to look away, feigning disinterest. “Like I care what a bunch of badgers think.”
“Sure,” Blaise drawled, raising a knowing brow.
Draco shot him a sharp glare that immediately shut him up.
Still, the irritation remained. Where were you? Had something happened? Were you ill? The idea didn’t sit well with him, and before he could stop himself, he was turning back toward your table, scouring the room for any sign of you.
Nothing. Not even a glimpse of your ridiculous, sunshine-filled presence.
He hated how restless it made him.
And then—finally—there you were. Strolling into the Great Hall as if you hadn’t just disappeared and left him drowning in a sea of irritation and unease.
Draco barely managed to school his features into indifference, watching from the corner of his eye as you slid into your seat, laughing at something one of your friends said. You looked fine. Happy. Completely unaware of the fact that your absence had nearly ruined his morning.
Merlin, he was pathetic.
Before he could think better of it, you turned, locking eyes with him across the hall. Your face lit up instantly, and with an ease that sent his heart into a tailspin, you raised your hand in a small, enthusiastic wave.
Draco barely resisted the urge to groan. But despite himself—despite everything—his fingers twitched ever so slightly in response.
—-----
Draco Malfoy was losing his mind.
He sat alone in his dorm room, the dim candlelight flickering against the stone walls, casting shadows that seemed to taunt him. His elbows rested on his desk, fingers tangled in his hair as he glared down at the parchment before him. His quill lay discarded, ink drying at the tip. He had an essay to finish, but his thoughts were elsewhere—on you. Always on you.
It was pathetic. He was pathetic.
You were a Hufflepuff. Kind, warm, bright—everything he wasn’t supposed to want. Everything that didn’t fit into the life that had already been carved out for him. His family had expectations. His peers had assumptions. And none of them involved him being utterly, helplessly drawn to someone like you.
Draco let out a slow breath, clenching his fists. This was a problem. A distraction. You were nothing but a distraction.
So why couldn’t he get you out of his head?
He could still see the way your face had lit up when you spotted him in the Great Hall earlier that morning. That stupid, effortless smile of yours. That wave, that ridiculous little wave that had sent something sharp and unbearable clawing at his chest. He should’ve ignored you. He should’ve turned away, given you nothing. But instead, his fingers had twitched, as if some invisible force had yanked the response from him against his will.
Draco groaned, shoving himself away from his desk. He paced the length of his dorm, frustration tightening his jaw. This was dangerous. This was reckless. He had spent his entire life being told who he was supposed to be, who he was supposed to associate with. A Malfoy did not fall for a Hufflepuff. A Malfoy did not entertain such foolish, sentimental attachments.
But then there was you. Always you.
Your laugh haunted him in the quiet moments. Your voice, soft and teasing, slipping through the cracks in his carefully built walls. You were everywhere, and it was driving him mad.
What would his father say if he knew? If he so much as suspected? The thought sent a chill down Draco’s spine. He had spent his whole life trying to prove himself, to live up to expectations that felt like shackles around his wrists. His name meant something. His reputation meant something. And yet—
And yet, when he was with you, none of it seemed to matter.
Draco collapsed onto his bed, rubbing a hand over his face. He needed to stop this. He needed to bury whatever ridiculous feelings had taken root before they grew into something even more dangerous.
And they were about to get dangerous
As he lay there, staring up at the ceiling, exhaustion started to creep in, wrapping around him like a thick fog. He tried to think of anything else—his classes, his father’s expectations, the endless pressure to be the perfect Malfoy. But his mind betrayed him.
Instead, he thought of you.
He thought of the way your eyes crinkle when you laughed, the way your nose scrunched up when you were deep in concentration. He thought of the way you tilted your head when you listened, as if whatever someone was saying truly mattered to you. The way you walked through the castle, as if every hallway belonged to you, not because of arrogance, but because you made every place feel like home.
A warmth spread through him, uninvited yet impossible to push away. He wanted to believe he could control this, that he could force himself not to care, but lying there in the quiet of his dorm, with nothing but his thoughts and the lingering ghost of your presence in his mind, he felt himself slip further into the inevitable.
His eyes fluttered shut, and for the first time in a long while, sleep found him easily.
Because, even in his dreams, you were there.

summary: after being a wallflower throughout your first five years at hogwarts, you always thought that you could be invisible. but when you hear the marauders talking cruelly about you and proceeding to ask for your forgiveness after, well good luck babe.
warnings: eventual smut! 18+ heavy angst, cursing, reader wants to kill the marauders , swearing, unprotected sex, praise, oral (male receiving), jealousy
a/n: oh hey... this is kinda based on those cliche 2000's movies where the girl is ugly but not really and she has that glow up or whatever. this was written so quick and not proofread, don't kill me. i hope you enjoy and as always, i apologize if you hate this!
STARTING off your sixth year at Hogwarts being an entirely new person wasn't something that you had planned or expected.
On the inside, you felt exactly the same, the same girl who was bold and could ferociously win a fight when it came to her character.
The same girl who was witty and sarcastic, surprising half of the people around you when you made a joke once in a lifetime.
But on the outside, you didn't have an awkward mis-shaped bob and you no longer wore baggy jackets that didn't do a thing for your figure.
And you didn't hide your face anymore, trying your best to be invisible.
It wasn't that you were shy or that you felt like a loser but you thought social hierarchy was bullshit and the only thing you wanted to focus on was your studies.
You may have been a brave Gryffindor on the inside but on the outside, you had to play the part of a shy mouse as corny as that sounds.
Unfortunately for you, invisibility only tends to last for so long until one moment, you are a nobody and then all eyes are upon you.
And maybe, just maybe, if you hadn't heard the Marauders discussing you the previous year, you would have stayed the same.
You had passed by the boys dormitory to give Remus his textbooks back as you always did when you let you borrow when you heard them speaking of the very person behind the door,
"I still have yet to understand why Lily and the rest of them act like she's some charity case," James huffed, "I mean, she's not some sick patient, they only feel the need to pity her because of how she looks."
You always knew that James had a foul mouth but to be speaking about someone like this, it was cruel.
Remus hissed, "That's not nice Prongs,"
"I'm not even saying it to be a dick!" James groaned, "I just mean, I pity her more for the fact that they don't even invite her to anything outside of breakfast and dinner," He explained, causing Remus to go silent.
Sirius chuckled, shaking his head. "That's absolutely horrid."
James reclined on his bed, a smirk playing on his lips. "I’m just saying, if I were Y/N, I’d be mortified."
Your eyes widened as they began to water, they were speaking about you.
Remus leaned against the wall, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. "Maybe she just doesn’t want to hang out with Lily and the others."
"Moony, seriously," James shot back, sitting up. "Where is Y/N right now, and where are the other girls?" His eyebrow cocked, trying to make his point as Remus silenced.
Sirius raised an eyebrow, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Why don’t we investigate for ourselves?" He unfolded the Marauder's Map with a flourish. "Alright, we’ve got Lily, Dorcas, Mary, and Marlene all at Hogsmeade, but Y/N is..." His voice trailed off, eyes narrowing.
James leaned closer, annoyance creeping into his tone as he grabbed the map, "She's-" He stopped, the color fading from his face.
"Fucking spit it out!" Remus said next as he snatched the map finally and saw that the map had shown that you were right outside their door.
"Shit!" You heard Remus say as he started making his way to the door.
Hearing his footsteps approaching, you quickly moved away from the door, bolting for your room.
Once you made it back to your dorm, you had sinked the floor. You put your hand on your mouth, muffling yourself as you cried silently.
You honestly hated to even say it but you did consider Lily and the rest of them your friends. You had never really thought about how they didn't invite you to places.
And if you were being truthful, they had never asked you to have breakfast or dinner with them.
You had always just assumed that you could join but they never told you to leave or swooshed you off. Another part of you hated how stupid you were, trying to intrude on their private time.
You didn't want to let it get to you what a bunch of seventeen year old boys were saying but it did sting horribly.
But in a way, it also motivated you to be who you were on the inside. You already had the top marks in your entire year and your plan to work in the Ministry after Hogwarts had already been set.
And now your chance to be something at Hogwarts was right in front of you, an opportunity that you couldn't miss.
You had to do it for yourself.
The Marauders had no idea who you truly were or even cared to know. And although Remus was kind to you, you could always see that he never made any effort to be your friend.
Not that you expected him to but it only taught you that they truly thought you were some hopeless case.
And an assignment to make the Marauders bite their tongues was one that you couldn't bare to fail.
After hearing that, you decided to avoid the Marauders for the next month, especially with summer break approaching. To your surprise, you barely saw them outside of classes, never giving them a chance to reach out—even Remus.
And then that summer, everything changed. You let your hair grow past your shoulders, embracing your natural curls instead of straightening them. You started wearing clothes that were trendy and form-fitting, a huge contrast to your old style.
You discovered a newfound love for self-care, enjoying the process far more than you expected. Each day felt like a transformation, and by the end of summer, your mother couldn’t help but notice. “Finally listening to me about your style, huh?” she teased.
You only laughed as you embraced her,
If only she knew what had caused it in the first place.
As you said goodbye to your family, anticipation mingled with dread. You knew the train ride would be the least of your worries, but the welcome dinner and the ceremony ahead felt like they might just be hell reincarnate.
As you entered Hogwarts, you admired it as much as you did when you were a first year. The castle was something you considered a second home and everything about it was magical, there was no doubting that.
A crowd of students, including yourself, moved toward the Great Hall, and you settled into your usual seat at the Gryffindor table.
You spotted the Marauders and the usual group of girls approaching, and you couldn’t help but roll your eyes. They took their usual spots in front of you, with the girls on one side and the boys on the other. James sat beside you, and Lily was directly in front of him.
You never quite understood why they arranged themselves like that, but it hardly mattered in the moment.
They were busy in conversation before James had noticed someone next to him, his eyes widening. You couldn't quite read his face but it seemed like a mix of confusion and flustered.
You stared at him back but he still had yet to mutter a word. You cleared your throat, "Uh hello," You practically whispered.
He snapped back into reality, "Oh sorry, hi," He muttered back.
Silence took over you both as James couldn't find the words of what to say to you.
On one hand, he wanted to call you beautiful, to tell you that you were one of the prettiest girls he’d ever seen. On the other, he just wanted to stare at you for a few more minutes like a creep.
Lily noticed his gaze and leaned in, smirking. "Excuse my friend; we’re still trying to figure out if he has a brain."
"I thought we solved that decades ago," Marlene chimed in, stifling a laugh.
Lily turned to you with a curious smile. "I don’t believe I’ve seen you before. What’s your name?"
Are you actually fucking kidding me?
You scoffed, "I'm Y/N,"
The entire group looked at you in awe, even the ones who weren't chimed in on the conversation.
"Y/N L/N?" Sirius asked, mouth gaping.
"Yep, that one," You snorted.
They all looked like they had seen a ghost, "You look different," Marlene said as Mary shoved her.
"She means in a good way!" Mary added.
"Uh thanks," You said, awkwardly.
They all continued to stare at you like you were an exhibit in a museum, their eyes scanning you up and down.
"Do you all mind not staring at me?" you asked, trying to break the tension. They all looked away, feigning innocence as they muttered apologies.
"How have you been?" Lily asked, clearly trying to ease the awkwardness.
"Fine," you replied, your tone clipped.
You caught the pained expressions on the Marauders' faces, realizing they were the reason for your dismissive attitude.
"That's great," Lily said, forcing a smile.
You felt a wave of frustration at the awkwardness surrouding you and decided it was time to escape. "I'm gonna go to the bathroom," you announced, heading toward the exit before they could respond.
As you walked away, you could already here the mutters and whispers emerging from the table, the fascinating topic being you.
You paced as you heard footsteps trailing behind you, but you ignored them, letting your gaze wander around the castle.
"Y/N!" someone called out, startling you.
You turned to see Sirius, James, and Remus hurrying after you. You only let out a snort before continuing your same way.
A hand suddenly reached around your forearm as you turned to see Remus. You quickly snatched your hand away, finally stopping to look at the group of boys who you despised.
Crossing your arms, you shot them a hostile look. "What?"
"We just wanna—"
"We're so—"
"Listen, we just—"
They all spoke at once, but you scoffed and turned back toward the bathroom, starting to walk away.
You were hoping that they would realize you wanted nothing to do with them but instead, it only made them want to chase you more.
They quickened their pace, and you spun around sharply. "For fuck's sake, what do you want?" you snapped.
James took a breath, his expression earnest. "I'm sorry for what I said. I've been thinking about it since you left. I was an awful twat, and you didn't deserve a thing of what I said."
You let out a sarcastic laugh, "Are you serious?" You asked as your expression changed to furious, "You basically called me a loser and said that Lily and the rest of them were only hanging out with me out of pity,"
James hissed as your statement, feeling the razor in your voice.
"-And now you all want to act as if I should just forgive you since I don't look the same anymore," You got closer to James's face, "Fuck off."
You turned your heel again and this time, the boys didn't follow you.
You finally entered the bathroom and shut the door behind you. Staring at your reflection in the mirror, you struggled to read the expression on your face. You were furious at the Marauders, and the idea of forgiving them felt impossible.
Yet, there was a flicker of gratitude that you felt for the change you’d undergone. You’d gained a new confidence that felt good, but the sting of their cruel words still lingered in your mind.
And you knew that you couldn't let it get to you but knowing they thought that of you, even Remus. It still did things to you that you would never admit out loud.
Snapping out of your thoughts, you realized it was almost time to head to the dormitory.
The rest of the night had flown by, with first years being introduced to their new home for the next six years while everyone else relaxed in the common room. Despite curfews, fifth years and above knew they could hang out longer—the curfew was mostly for the first years anyway.
"Caput Draconis," you muttered, and the Fat Lady nodded, granting you entrance.
Stepping into the common room, your heart sank as you spotted the last group you wanted to see. They noticed you just as quickly, encouraging you to pick up your pace toward the dorm.
"Hey, Y/N!" Dorcas called out, making you wince as you turned to see her waving.
The Marauders looked down, shame etched on their faces, avoiding your gaze as if you were Medusa.
You approached them slowly, dread settling in your stomach as they eyed you like a science project.
"We were just about to play a fun little game," Dorcas said enticingly, while Marlene snorted beside her.
"I don’t know if Spin the Bottle is a great idea for the first night back," Marlene added, taking a sip of her beer.
"A little peck never hurt anyone," Lily chimed in, clapping her hands together.
Of all people, you’d never expect Lily Evans to approve such a thing. This was the same girl who nearly fainted when she heard about Marlene and Dorcas kissing the previous year.
"I don’t know if this is the game for me," you replied, eyeing the group warily.
"Of course it is!" Lily insisted, but you raised an eyebrow. "Oh my gosh! Not like that, I just mean it's a fun game for us all to play," she quickly added, looking flustered.
Part of you wanted to say no and retreat to your bed, but that was the old you, and you knew it wouldn’t help. This was a new year, and you were determined to embrace new experiences.
Besides, you’d never participated in any scandalous games for all of the years you've been at Hogwarts—it felt like a crime in itself.
So, after a moment’s hesitation, you said, "Okay, sure." The girls erupted in cheers, while the Marauders exchanged worried glances.
What if you had to kiss one of them? Would you refuse and create a scene? Would you want to strangle them for even suggesting it?
The possibilities raced through their mind, but there was no turning back as everyone began to form a circle.
As you sat in the circle, a shiver of nervousness enveloped you. You had never kissed anyone before and the whole thought made you nervous within itself.
Don't get it wrong, you've had chances but they never seemed right and you certainly weren't kissing Matthew Trunchbull underneath the bleachers of the Quidditch field.
So when you got offered a shot of firewhiskey to cool your nerves by Marlene, you took it happily as it burned down your throat.
You brushed off all the negative thoughts entering your mind,
What really is the worst thing that could happen?

Like you love me - Mattheo Riddle
warnings: fluff, kissing summary: you catch your boyfriend looking at you from across the room...
Tumblr media
Mattheo Riddle leaned against the wall, a faint smile playing on his lips as he watched you across the room. You were engrossed in a conversation, your laughter ringing through the air. He couldn't help but admire the way your eyes sparkled when you smiled, the way your expressions animated every story you told. As he lost himself in observing you, you suddenly caught his gaze and made your way toward him.
"Don't look at me like that," you teased, a playful glint in your eyes as you joined him by the wall.
"How am I looking at you?" Mattheo replied, arching an eyebrow, feigning innocence.
"Like you love me," you said with a mischievous grin, a hint of amusement coloring your tone.
Mattheo's expression softened, the corners of his lips curling up into a genuine smile. "Maybe I do," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper, almost lost in the ambient noise around you.
Your breath hitched at his words, the air suddenly charged with an unspoken tension. His gaze held yours, a silent invitation lingering between you both. Without a word, he reached out, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear, his touch gentle yet filled with an intensity that sent shivers down your spine.
In that moment, everything else seemed to fade away, the world narrowing down to just the two of you. The music, the chatter, the bustling atmosphere—it all became background noise, insignificant compared to the electricity crackling in the air.
"Maybe?" you echoed softly, your heart pounding against your chest, anticipation building with every passing second.
Mattheo leaned in closer, his breath mingling with yours, his eyes searching yours for any sign of hesitation. And then, with a whisper-soft touch, his lips met yours in a tender, hesitant kiss. It was a delicate dance of emotions, a silent confession spoken through the meeting of lips.
Time seemed to stand still as you melted into each other's embrace, the world around you fading into a blissful blur. In that fleeting moment, nothing else mattered except the undeniable truth that hung between you both—a love that had silently woven itself into the fabric of your connection.
When you finally pulled away, your eyes met again, now filled with an unspoken understanding, a shared acknowledgment of something beautiful that had just been awakened between you.
"Maybe," Mattheo repeated, his voice now tinged with a certainty that mirrored the newfound depth in his gaze, "I definitely do."

theodore nott couldn’t deny how ultimately whipped he was for you. he was in love with everything about you. the way you’d ramble about your books, the certain face you’d make to him after you see somebody doing something less than smart.
he even respected how log. it had taken for you to let him in. he had quite a reputation with women, and he knew it’d make it more difficult to convince you to be in a real relationship with him.
so, he waited. he was patient, he was kind, and he defended you.
he seemed like the perfect guy on paper, but whenever you got close to letting him in, letting him finally take you out, you’d hear another story about a girl he hooked up with then left right after.
the thought disgusted you, and you didn’t want to just turn out to be another one of those girls with a horror story of hoe you were treated by the slytherin boy. you were smarter than that.
that was another thing he liked about you. how smart you were. he loved how you could explain extensive theories and spells to him in a simple enough way to make it easy to understand. it was like a breath of fresh air.
lately, he had been in an even better mood, something his friends even noticed about him. you were starting to finally let him in. you were letting him walk you to class, letting him take you to his favorite hidden spots in the castle.
most importantly, though, you were starting to talk to him. not just some insignificant conversation about homework, or the weather. real conversations.
you were telling him about books you liked, about something funny one of your friends had told you. you were rambling on and on to him, and he loved hearing it.
he loved seeing the way your eyes lit up when you were speaking about someone you were close with, or a new book.
the expression he held when you rambled to him like this could only be explained as pure love. he had waited months to even get you to open up to him, and it was finally happening.
he always made sure you knew he was listening, whether that was by asking you questions as you went, keeping his eyes trained on you, or even buying you the second book in a series you had mentioned liking.
even despite the way you’d protest your rants, saying you didn’t want to annoy him, or something of the sort, he loved hearing tour voice. he’d listen to anything if it was coming from you.
he noticed everything about you.
none of his friends, or even himself, could think off another time where he was this head over heels for someone. it was like his former self went out the window as soon as you walked in. he couldn’t even imagine himself with a girl that wasn’t you, and he didn’t want to anyways.
you were all he need- all he wanted.
“theodore, are these flowers from you?” you called out when he stepped into your dorm.
you gestured to a beautiful array of red lillies, the scent they put off filling the room with a pleasant, light aroma.
“yeah. saw ‘em and thought of you,” he admitted casually, as though he hadn’t specifically looked for flowers of that kind, knowing you paid attention to the meanings of flowers and whatnot.
aside from that, he just thought they were pretty. naturally, you had popped into his mind.
you flashed him a genuine smile, a sight that looked straight out of his dreams.
“thank you,” you grinned, the sentiment behind the flowers being one of the sweetest things you could think of.
“finally gonna let me take you out?” he asked, a small smirk on his face.
despite his confident demeanor, he was one step away from straight up begging. he had waited months, all he wanted was for you to say yes.
you thought over it. you had heard girls in the hallway talking about how he hadn’t given them the time of day recently… and he had been so sweet lately. he had been trying repeatedly, not being deterred at all by your rejections. plus, what was the harm in just one date? one date didn’t mean anything was set in stone.
it was just… one date.
“yeah, that sounds good,” you replied, noticing the way his smirk turned into a large grin.
he felt like a child with how smiley he got around you, especially now that you had given him a chance to take you on a real date.

Black Bikini • FW x Reader
Tumblr media
Part 2 • Strawberry Pie
Summary: You arrive at the burrow for summer break. Fred really likes your new bikini.
Word count: 5.5k
Warnings: swearing and smut
18+
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
You sat out on the front porch basking in the early morning sun before the afternoon swelter settled in. It was yet another summer at the burrow, and you couldn’t wait to get into all sorts of trouble with your favorite Weasleys. You had known them since you were young, as your dad worked closely with Arthur at the ministry. Once you started at Hogwarts, you quickly became friends with the Weasley twins who were in your year. Ever since then, you often spent a good chunk of your summer at the burrow, playing quidditch or swimming in the lake during the day and staying up late playing chess at night. Just a few weeks ago, you had helped Gryffindor win the quidditch cup, so you knew the quidditch matches would be superb this summer.
“Morning, sunshine!” Fred cheered as he pushed through the front door, running past you and into the yard, George following quick on his heels.
“What are you two up to?” You yelled after them, squinting your eyes as they ran further away and towards the pond.
“YOU BLOODY WANKERS GET BACK HERE AND FIX THIS!”
You whipped your head around to see a very angry Ron standing on the front porch with a fist in the air like an angry old man. His pajamas were a violent shade of pink. You almost spit out your coffee.
“New look?” You choked out, making Ron frown and shake is head.
“You’re just as bad as them,” he grumbled before walking back inside.
You couldn’t help but laugh as you saw the twins walking back to the house with mud all over their hands.
“Its not even noon and you two have already started wreaking havoc, what have you gotten yourselves into now?” You raised a brow at them. As they approached closer, their bodies absolutely loomed over you on the steps. Two identical grins blocked the bright sun from your eyes.
“Just catching some bullfrogs while we waited for Ronnykins to leave the premises,” George grinned.
“That bloke is always angry, what could he possibly be mad about on such a fine day?” Fred inhaled sharply and let out a sigh of contentment as he threw his head back into the sun. A blush rose to your cheeks. You may or may not have begun developing the slightest crush on the older twin.
“Hmm, I wonder. Well, what are we going to do today? I bet Gin would be up for a game, I don’t know if Ron will want to play with you two though,” you chuckled, standing up and brushing the dirt off the back of your shorts. The twins grinned at you.
“How about we go swimming at the lake? We could make a day out of it,” Fred suggested, leaning against the post of the railing.
“Hmm, yeah. We could pack some lunches and games, spend all day in the sun,” George said thoughtfully, pursing his lips to one side.
“Sounds like a plan, let’s go get Ginny up, and maybe you should fix Ronald’s clothes so he’s not in a foul mood all day,” you said, patting George on the shoulder before turning to head inside.
It was around noon by the time everybody got out of the house and started down the path to the lake. The walk wasn’t too long, but it was far enough where Ron could complain and Ginny could convince George to let her ride on his back. The sun beamed down on your backs, beads of sweat forming on your skin, sticky and hot. You guys were practically racing to the shore once you gained view of the water.
“The walk will be worth it!” Fred cheered as he raced ahead to the sand. He recklessly threw his bag onto the ground before pulling off his shirt, saving no time before diving straight into the water. It seemed you’d completely lost interest in walking as the rest of the Weasley children had already reached the shore ahead of you. You didn’t allow your mind to wander any further as you too started running down the hill of sand.
“Last one in is a rotten egg!” George shouted, already running into the water. You tore off your t-shirt and shorts, refusing to be the last one into the lake. Ginny had already dove under so it was just you and Ron left. You both began sprinting towards the water, but you laughed as you dove straight in, leaving Ron to be last. The twins left him no time to pout however, as they started to splash and fight with their brother. You and Ginny swam away from the chaos and floated on your backs, enjoying the contrast between the warm sun and the cool lake.
“I’m so glad you’re here again, Y/N,” Ginny said, shifting her position to talk to you better, “I love my brothers but it’s nice to have another girl around. Sometimes I feel like I’m too much like them. I don’t want to be a tomboy, I want to be pretty so boys like me.” She dunked her head back to wet her hair again. A soft smile rose to your face as you listened to her banter.
“Gin, don’t you think you’re a little young to be thinking about boys like that?” You couldn’t help but to laugh a little at her naivety.
“You sound like my brothers,” Ginny scrunched her nose at you.
“All I’m saying is you’re perfect just how you are. You’re smart and funny and anybody would be lucky to know you. Besides, you are nothing like your brothers, you know that,” you reassured her, pointing over her shoulder at her brothers who were currently trying to stick slimy plants onto each others foreheads. Ginny snorted.
“Okay, you have a point, but I just want to be pretty like you, Y/N. Will you teach me how to do my hair and makeup? Please?” Ginny pleaded, putting on her best puppy eyes. You rolled your eyes at her before returning to your smile.
“Gin, I don’t even know how to do all of that. I guess I can show you some stuff, but your too young. I didn’t even start doing any of that stuff until this year,” you huffed. You wished she would appreciate her developing years without worrying about such superficial things. Your words seemed to go in one ear and out the other as Ginny began to beam and splash around.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you! And you’re definitely good at that kind of stuff, Y/N. I mean ever since you started looking all pretty, Fred won’t shut up about you! I’m going to be so popular this year,” Ginny continued on babbling about her upcoming year but you couldn’t seem to focus. Had she just said something about Fred?
“We’re going in to eat! Best to come unless you want us to eat your share,” Ron called as he trudged out of the water. You broke out of your thoughts and hoisted Ginny on your back to head towards the boys. By the time you set Ginny down, the picnic basket had been opened. You sat down on your towel and grabbed a sandwich.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Fred’s POV
I guess I hadn’t had time to look at her properly when we got down to the lake, because I hadn’t notice her wearing that tiny black bikini. Merlin, she looked so good this summer. I mean, she’d always been pretty but this was on a whole other level. Her normally cute face had turned into something of a more mature beauty. My eyes left her lips and scanned down a bit further. Her body, Merlin…
“Oi,” George laughed and nudged me. I whipped my head away to face him, being met with raised brows and a downturned smile.
“Mmm,” I grumbled, taking a huge bite of my sandwich. I was not just checking Y/N out. I’m just eating my sandwich. We ate in silence for a little while, hungry and tired from the sun.
“Welp, time for a little afternoon nap,” Y/N sighed, placing a hand on her full belly and lying down on her towel. As her back hit the sand, her chest bounced lightly, her skimpy top moving along with it. Okay, I was totally checking her out.
“I don’t know about you lot, but I’m getting back in the water, it’s far too hot out here,” I declared, standing up with a grunt and heading back into the water. If I didn’t know any better, it would seem that I may be slightly obsessed with my dear friend Y/N.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Your POV
Your eyes fluttered open, squinting from the glare of the sun.
“Finally you’re up! I was about to roll you over so you didn’t burn,” Ginny laughed, moving from her seat to look down on you.
“Mm, I’m up now,” you mumbled sleepily, “Shall we go in the water? I’m absolutely frying.” You slowly sat up. Your skin felt slightly tight from baking in the sun.
“I’ll race you!” Ginny chirped, standing up and running to the water. Merlin, that girl had energy. You jogged down to the water and dove under, your skin soothed by the fresh water. As you came back up, you felt something slimy slap against your face.
“Ho! He gotchu good!” George yowled, falling back into the water with a splash. You reached up to grab the slime off of your cheek with your mouth agape, frozen in a wry smile.
“Who did that,” you scoffed, look up at the boys to find your culprit. Fred stood there with his arms crossed over his chest, a satisfied smirk plastered onto his face.
“You.”
You flung the lake slime at him before charging towards him at an impressive speed through the water. As you approached him, you reached down into the water with a devious expression.
“Catch,” you said, lifting up a ginormous ball of slime that had been placed in front of you by what you could only imagine was the hand of god. You flung the mass towards him before he could dodge out of the way. He tried to put his hands up to catch it, but it was no match. The sludge had flown onto his scrunched up face and dripped down his flared out hands. You put your hand on your mouth to stifle your laugh.
“Bloody hell!” Ron hollered, laughing his ass off with George. Fred dunked under the water to get off the slime. When he emerged from the water, he ran his hands through his hair, throwing his head back. You watched as if he was moving in slow motion, the sun glistening on his wet skin as his muscles flexed with the movement of his arms.
“You are so dead.”
And with that he picked you up with ease over his head.
“No! Fred please!” You said between chokes of laughter, but it was no use. He threw you down into the water and splashed you when you came back up to the surface. When he finally stopped you could see his goofy smile form around his sun kissed freckles.
“I think you’ve learned your lesson,” he said, relaxing back into the water. You couldn’t stop giggling as you swam towards him.
“Sorry Freddie, I had to get you back,” you teased, laying back into the water. He rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, yeah. I was away from you for a few weeks and forgot how ruthless you are,” he grumbled, but you could tell he was in high spirits.
“Oh please, how could you forget? Im just happy to be back for the summer, we’re going to get into much more trouble than this,” you giggled. He chuckled at that.
“Oh, I hope so Y/N,” he charmed, standing back up from the water. You looked up at him staring down at you, water dripping down his abs. You found your eyes wondering and forced yourself to look back up to his face. He was smirking down at you. “What are you looking at Y/N?” You practically choked on lake water as you stood up next to him.
“You still have slime on you git,” you brushed him off and went back up to the sand. You heard him laugh behind you as your cheeks flushed a deep red. You really hoped he hadn’t just caught you staring…
The rest of the day was spent roasting in the sun, passing around a quaffle in the water, and eating what was left of the picnic basket. By the time the sun began to set, the five of you set back on the trail to the burrow. You stayed up front with Ginny and Ron as they quarreled about quidditch, Fred and George behind you. The walk back felt long and tiring, and by the time you had reached the burrow, the sun had almost fully set.
“Dinner is ready!” You heard Molly call from the porch. At that, the five of you filed into the house to change for dinner. In the kitchen, the windows were all open to allow the cool night air into the room. On the table sat an amazing dinner spread, the mark of a fantastic summer with the Weasleys. You sat down next to Ginny, and began to pile your plate with all of Mollys fixings.
“So Y/N, how was your school year dear? I barely had time to chat with you on the platform,” Molly smiled at you, helping herself to some green beans.
“Well, I did well on all of my owls, but the end of the year was mostly spent studying for those,” you frowned, not happy to recall the stress from your end of year exams.
“And you were absolutely wicked in the final quidditch match! Mum, you should’ve seen her. Truly, I think she scored at least 50 points,” Ron excitedly recounted the match, where Gryffindor beat Slytherin and won the quidditch cup.
“Yes, well, Woods was certainly happy with me after that game,” you laughed, earning an immature laugh from George a scowl from Fred. You rolled your eyes at the two.
“Well that’s just fantastic Y/N. Say, how’s your mother been?” Arthur asked. And so the dinner went on, a lively and wholesome evening ending in a warm cherry pie for dessert. As everybody stood to mark the end of dinner, you began to collect plates.
“Nonsense, Y/N, go on! Run along!” Molly took the plates from you and shooed you off.
“You heard the woman,” Fred said, grabbing your hand and dragging you out the front door. The sun had completely set, the sounds of summer surrounded you as you ran down the steps of the house.
“Where are we going,” you laughed, still following Fred as you held hands, George running alongside you.
“On a quick pit stop,” George grinned, running up towards the shed. Fred let go of your hand as he opened the door. You heard a few bottles clanking together and before you know it, Fred’s standing in front of you holding up two bottles of fire whisky next to his grinning face. George follows suit but is instead holding a crate of fireworks.
“Did you guys bring this back from Hogsmeade?” You questioned in a hushed voice, astonished that they had managed to sneak this much past their mother.
“Yep,” George grinned, nodded his head fervently. Fred grasped the necks of both bottles into one head and nonchalantly closed the shed door. His hands were so big and definitely strong from playing quidditch all these years… You shook your head. Merlin, couldn’t stop thinking of him like that for two minutes?
“Follow this way,” Fred nodded over to a hill a bit down the path to the lake. You began to follow the twins, having to walk two steps at a time to keep up with their lanky legs. The deep blue of the night sky basked over the hill as the three of you trudged over the peak and over to the other side. The twins plopped down onto the grass and opened the bottles of fire whisky.
“To summer,” George cheered with Fred, their bottles clanking against each other. They both took a swig before sticking the bottles out to you. You giggled, grabbing the bottle from Fred and raising it up.
“To summer,” you cheered, taking a hefty swig of the fire whisky. Fred laughed and shook his head at you.
“So, shall we light these puppies up?” George grinned, gesturing to the box of fireworks. You grinned back at him.
“We should wait a bit Georgie. Hopefully the hill will help block most of the light and sound, but it wouldn’t hurt to wait until they’re in bed,” Fred pointed out, George nodding his head. He turned to face you.
“Mums been on our case about all the pranking and stuff. She took away a bunch of our creations already, so it be better if she just… doesn’t know too much,” George whispered. You nodded, laying back onto your elbow. With your free arm, you took another swig of whisky.
“Understood.” You replied, passing the bottle back to Fred.
“How about a game of exploding snaps and shots?” Fred asked with a lazy grin, pulling a deck of cards out from his pant pockets. You grinned back at him.
“Wait,” George snapped up, “did you hear something?”
You and a Fred sat up and looked up at to top of the hill. Two little heads of ginger hair peaked over the side. They tried to duck down, but George had already reached them, pulling them up by the arms.
“Please George, can we stay?” You heard Ron plead as he was guided down the hill.
“Not tonight, Ron. And we gotta get Ginny up to bed,” George’s voice rang over the slope. You turned to face Fred with pursed lips.
“Well, wanna play?” You laughed, relaxing back on your elbow. He mirrored your movements.
“Yes darling,” Fred smiled at you, shuffling the cards in his hands. A light blush managed to creep into your face. He kept eye contact with you as he dealt the cards.
“You start,” you said. He laughed and tidied up his hand.
“So, what kind of trouble have you been up to the past few weeks?” He asked, placing a card down.
“Oh you know, a few muggle clubs with my cousin, but nothing else really,” you shrugged, taking your turn. He smirked at you.
“Oh, yeah? Y/N’s a party girl now? I guess I do remember you having quite a good time at the quidditch house cup afterparty,” He winked. You rolled your eyes but one of your cards snapped, causing you to jump. “Drink.”
You brought the bottle to you lips and took a swig. A drop of whisky hung off your bottom lip, and Fred’s eyes were quick to notice. You licked the bottom of your lip and smiled at him. His head fell to his shoulder as he returned a lopsided smile. Your blush crept deeper on your face as you tried to focus back to the game. You’d hung out with Fred plenty of times, granted George was usually there too, but something felt different. You couldn’t help but feel like he was watching you the same way you were watching him…
“Well, speaking of party girls, you certainly seemed to like Angelina at that party, hmm?” You raised a brow at him while picking up a card. He put a card down and chuckled, shaking his head.
“Angelina sure is something, but we’re just good friends. Besides, George already has a thing for her, and I have to admit, I have eyes for someone else,” He raised his brow and picked up another card. Was Fred seeing someone else? Surely you’d have heard about it, he is pretty popular after all.
“Oh?” You questioned, putting down a card and picking up another. Fred opened his mouth to speak but another card exploded in your palm, startling the both of you. You gasped and Fred chuckled while he passed you the bottle.
“Mm, I think she might like me too…” Fred trailed off, watching you as you put your lips to the bottle and swallowed yet another shot. Your face cringed a bit this time, liquor dripping onto your lips. Fred put down his cards and moved closer to you. Your breathing quickened as you look at his face. He was staring at your lips. Was he about to kiss you?
“Y/N… ” his eyes panned up to yours, the moonlight illuminating his freckled nose and softened expression. You breathed in quick, unsure of your voice.
“Are you about to kiss me?” You breathed out quietly, Fred nodded softly before drawing closer. You closed your eyes as his lips pressed carefully against yours. You couldn’t help but let out a small sigh, it felt like you were dreaming. He brought his palm up to your face and caressed you gently while deepening the kiss. He was a good kisser. He pulled away gently, now almost on top of you. You watched his chest rising and the flush on his cheeks. You could tell by his demeanor that he wanted more. And so did you. You grabbed the back of his neck and kissed him more harshly this time, your hunger for Fred growing stronger. It felt like all day you were just itching to have him close to you, and now that you had the chance, you weren’t going to mess it up.
“Y/N, let me take you somewhere,” Fred breathed out in between a kiss. You hummed into his mouth. This caused him to start kissing down your neck.
“Do you think this is a good idea, you know, you and me?” You sighed, your back arching slightly off the ground as his hands explored down your body. He stopped and looked up at you, his lips parted and hair disheveled.
“I think it’s a brilliant idea,” he smiled charmingly, standing up and holding out his hand. You smiled and took it, he was so strong he practically lifted you off the ground. You stepped close to him and put your arms around his neck.
“Okay, then take me wherever you want to go, Fred,” you said in a low voice, leaning up to kiss him again. He moaned into your lips.
“Follow me,” Fred wasted no time and began to lead you down to the bottom of the hill. You guys walked for a few minutes, up into the surrounding woods. Soon you reached a small platform in the trees. It resembled a treehouse but it was made of fabric.
“Here?” You raised a brow, turning around to Fred. He flashed his signature smile and put his hands on your waist.
“Just trust me, love,” he walked you backwards while giving you sweet and sensual kisses. Soon he turned you around and lifted you so you could climb up to the platform. He followed suit.
“Wow,” you gasped. The platform had clearly been enchanted, the inside of the tent being filled with comfortable sack chairs and carpets. Fred kissed your neck as he guided you to a seat.
“Bill helped us out when he was home for a bit, me and George were going to show it to you tomorrow,” he sat down next to you as you admired the club house. This summer was going to be so much fun.
“I’ll have to thank Bill when I see him,” you chuckled, grabbing the back of Fred’s neck and pulling him back into a kiss.

Fred’s POV
This day truly couldn’t have gotten better. Somehow, I was on top of Y/N, kissing her and feeling her little moans against my lips. It felt so good to have her under me, moaning because of me. I don’t know how long I’d been wanting this, but it sure as hell felt right. I slid my hand under her shirt and up her side, her back lifted up off the chair. Merlin, she wasn’t even wearing a bra under her sweatshirt. I felt my pants tighten, I’d never wanted anybody so bad.
“Fred,” she moaned, pulling at the hem of my shirt. I breathed out a laugh as I sat back to pull off my shirt. Her eyes were blown out as she watched me, she looked so sexy. I came back over her and set my forearm next to her head as I hovered over her body. My hand went down to the bottom of her sweatshirt and looked up to ask for permission. She nodded and I quickly removed the piece of clothing from her body. I sat back to take in the image of Y/N laying on her back in front of me. Her body was perfect, and her tits were tanned in the shape of that tiny fucking bikini top. I groaned hungrily as I bent down to take her nipple into my mouth. She gasped with pleasure as my hands explored her body, my lips attached to her sensitive skin. I just wanted to taste her, I wanted to kiss every inch of her body and show her how badly I’ve been wanting her.
“You’re so beautiful, Y/N,” I whispered, kissing her neck softly, “so perfect. Do you know how fucking perfect you look right now?” She groaned as I sucked on her neck. We both knew it was a risk to leave mark on her, but neither of us cared. I began to leave a trail of gentle kisses down her body as my hands pulled down her cotton shorts.
“Fred,” she blushed, trying to close her thighs around my shoulder. I chuckled and kissed the inner part of her leg.
“Don’t be shy, Y/N. I want to taste you. Can I please? I promise it will be worth it,” I pleaded, linking my arms under her hips. She moaned at the action and quickly nodded her head, relaxing back into the chair. I slid off her shorts and panties, and linked my arms back under her hips. I’d never wanted to eat pussy so bad in my life. My mouth was salivating as I ran my tongue up her clit in one slick motion. She shuddered and locked her thighs around my head again. I used this time to bury my face in her, licking in soft circles around her bud. She began to grab my hair and gently fuck herself on my tongue. I felt like I was about to cum. Her face twisted up in pleasure which only made my pants tighter. She tasted so fucking good and all I wanted was to make her cum all over my mouth. I sped up my motions and she arched off the chair. Her full breasts bounced as she felt back down. I plunged my tongue into her hole and used my fingers to swipe circles around her clit.
“Merlin, Freddie,” she grunted, making a sound different from anything I’d heard out come out of her mouth before, “I’m- I’m going to-“ I locked my tongue on her clit as her thighs trembled around my head. She shuddered and moaned and released warm, sweet juices onto my tongue. I happily licked up every last drop.

Your POV
You gasped for air as Fred came back up to you, kissing up your stomach with shiny lips. He kissed you on the mouth before grinding down onto your leg. You could feel how hard he was. You moaned into the kiss and pushed your hips up against him. You knew what you wanted, and besides, your friendship was already far gone. You knew you wouldn’t be able to give up that mouth after you knew what it was capable.
“Freddie,” you purred, looking up at him with starry eyes, “do you want to know what I feel like?” He groaned and pushed down harder into your leg.
“Godric, yes, Y/N. But are you sure? I don’t want to hurt you,” he said, kissing your cheek and pushing your hair behind your ear. You chuckled and smiled at him. Here the two of you were, doing something completely out of the ordinary, and yet Fred was still just Fred. Charming and caring and reckless.
“I’m sure,” you whispered, leaning up to kiss his cheek. He flushed and gave you his crooked smile before sitting up to take off his pants. You sat up to watch as his cock slapped up against his abdomen, the sight causing you to groan. He was big, and while you weren’t scared, he was definitely the biggest you’d ever taken. You sat onto your knees and looked up and him for permission, not that you needed any at this point. You looked down at you with a strained expression and place his hand on the back of your head. You leaned forward and took the tip into your mouth, looking up at him again before taking his full length down your throat. This earned you deep growl as he thrusted into your mouth even deeper. Once you had properly wet his dick, you laid back down onto the chair, spreading your legs and grabbing your tits, mostly so you had something to hold onto. He hovered over you and placed a kiss on your lips.
“Just tell me if you need to stop,” he tried to whisper, but it came out as more of a throaty groan. You nodded and placed your hands around his neck. He positioned himself in front of you before testing the tip of his hard cock in your pussy. With each inch getting added into you, you scraped your nails into his neck. He kissed up and down your neck to soothe you as he sat inside of you to let your pussy adjust to the size.
“I’m okay Freddie, you can fuck me now,” you whispered into his ear. With no delay, he dropped his head into the crook of your neck and groaned as he began to thrust in and out of you. He felt so good fucking you like this. Especially after he had just eaten you so good, your entire pussy was pulsing around him.
“Y/N,” Fred moaned, grabbing your hips and thrusting into you even harder, “you’re taking me so well. Just like that darling.” You moaned as you bounced from his thrusts. His hand moved to cover your clit with pressure. You were going to cum again, and so soon. How was Fred doing this to you?
“Freddie, you’re going to make me cum again,” you whined, you grabbed your tits again in a desperate attempt to hold onto to something steady.
“That’s alright, Y/N. I love making your perfect pussy come for me,” he grunted, lifting up your hips and thrusting even harder into your pussy. Your moans turned erratic as you felt yourself building up once again. You clenched around him one last time before your back lifted up, your pussy pulsating around his cock. His thrusts began to waver as he fell apart. You made sure to push yourself up towards him so he knew it was okay to cum inside of you. With one final thrust, Fred groaned as he released himself, your pussy getting filled with hot spurts of his seed. The two of you laid like that for a few minutes, catching your breath and recognizing the fact that you’d just fucked your family friend. Fred slid your panties back up your legs before leisurely putting on his own clothes.
“Freddie, we should probably get back. It’s going to be hard enough trying to pretend like this didn’t happen to George,” you noted, pulling your sweatshirt over you head.
“We don’t have to pretend, Y/N. At least not in front of George. He’s going to find out eventually,” Fred chuckled, placing a finger under your chin and kissing your lips softly. You weren’t sure if you’d ever get used to this. His stupidly soft lips made you dizzy every time.
“I guess that’s true… so does that mean you want to continue this?” You asked sheepishly, a blush rising to your face again as he gave you a smile.
“You’re daft if you think I’m not going to make you mine, Y/N,” he smirked. How many times was he going to make you blush tonight? You tried to play it off as the two of you descended from the fort and started off towards the hill again. In the distance, you could see George sitting up on the hill next to the fireworks. As you and Fred approached him, he stood up with a half empty bottle in his head.
“There you are! I figured you two went off to the treehouse…” he eyed the two of suspiciously, and it didn’t help that you had a permanent blush to your face.
“Sorry Georgie, Y/N wanted to check it out,” Fred said nonchalantly as he took a seat next to his brother. You followed suit and looked up to the sky as the two of them began to set off the fireworks. The sounds of summer made you feel at home, and the visions of two lanky red heads laughing chaotically as they lit off the fireworks made you smile. It sure was good to be back at the burrow.

When the Sun Stood Still | Harry Potter
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: harry james potter x female!reader (no use of y/n)
summary: first kiss with harry
word count: 766
Tumblr media
The soft morning sunlight fills your bedroom, casting a warm glow on everything as you and Harry finish cleaning up after the sleepover. Hermione and Ron are already downstairs, probably chatting with your parents and waiting to floo home. You linger in the bedroom with Harry, folding blankets and tucking away the last remnants of his stuff.
“Thanks for, um, helping out,” he says, brushing a bit of hair out of his face and looking at you a little sheepishly as he shoves the extra mattress to the side. You offer him a smile, nodding as you adjust the sheets on your bed, the sun streaming in through the window casting light and shadows over his face.
“Of course. I think that’s… everything.” Your words trail off as you glance up and find him staring at you, closer than you expected. The air between you seems to still, your heart thudding louder with each second. He’s looking at you with an intensity that makes it feel as if time has slowed down, and your mouth goes dry under his gaze.
In a quick, unexpected motion, Harry closes the distance between you, his eyes softening and then flickering with a kind of bold determination. He leans in, and his lips meet yours, gentle yet charged with a quiet, confident passion. You feel a flash of disbelief, but then the shock melts away, replaced by the warmth of his kiss. Your hands reach up to his shoulders as he moves up to your face, cupping it with a surprising gentleness. His lips press against yours in a way that feels both hesitant and sure all at once, as though he’s been waiting forever for this moment but couldn’t wait a second longer.
His mouth is warm, his breath soft against your skin, and you’re instantly enveloped by the familiar scent of him—treacle tart, warm wood and a touch of pine and cedar. You can feel his glasses brushing your cheek, grounding you in this surreal, dreamlike moment. There’s a heady silence around you, broken only by the faint sound of your breaths mingling.
The kiss is heated, filled with all the unspoken words and stolen glances that have passed between you both these past months. He pulls back only when he has to breathe, leaving you in a daze as you look up at him, feeling like the world has tilted off its axis.
You’re still catching your breath, watching him as he straightens and gives you a soft smile—a look that sends your heart racing all over again. He turns and heads toward the stairs, leaving you flustered and rooted in place. You think he’s going to say something, maybe a goodbye, but he just walks a couple of steps down, then pauses and glances back at you with a mischievous glint in his eye.
“Owl me,” he says, his voice soft but smug. Before you can react, he steps back up, reaches out, and pulls you in for one more kiss—a bit bolder, his lips soft yet insistent as he tilts his head, savoring the moment. It’s a little more lingering this time, his confidence steady and clear, making your head spin even more.
When he finally pulls away, he gives you one last grin, that subtle smirk still tugging at his lips. After the kiss he spins on his heel, leaving you breathless and dumbfounded as he disappears down the stairs as if nothing at all has happened.
You stand there, blinking, replaying the entire exchange in your mind as you try to catch your breath. You can still feel the warm pressure of his lips on yours, the thrilling heat of his touch, and the playful confidence in that parting glance. The smirk, the way he looked at you right before the kiss—all of it loops in your mind, leaving you dazed and unable to move.
A small, disbelieving smile breaks over your face as you run a hand over your lips, trying to shake yourself from the daze. The kiss, his words, his look—all of it still feels too surreal. You realize you should head downstairs; Hermione and Ron are probably waiting, and Harry is surely acting casual, like he didn’t just turn your entire world upside down with a single, impulsive kiss.
But before you head down, you let out a soft laugh, your face flushed as you relive the moment. Harry Potter just kissed me, you think, your heart fluttering wildly at the memory of his lips on yours and that knowing look in his eyes.

My Hurt, My Hurt
Harry James Potter x fem!reader
Summary: Reader overhears Harry saying something hurtful. And words hurt.
Warnings: Crying, gossiping about others, mentions of eyes being puffy (I don’t know lol), angst, one bad word.
Note: For the lovely @pottermagiczz for requesting! I really hope you like it!
Tumblr media
It wasn’t on purpose, the accidental occurrence of being right outside of the room where the conversation was taking place.
But her feet had taken her there, looking for her lost Potions book that she had perhaps left there previously. It was then where she heard murmuring, the voice of two teenage boys discussing something over hushed tones.
As an average person would, the curiosity brewing in her chest got the best of her, and, her Potions book slowly being forgotten, leaned her ear towards the room, trying to catch even a few words they were saying.
Fortunately for her, she quickly discovered that one of those voices were Ron Weasley, and it is common knowledge to know he’s not such a good whisperer.
“So you don’t like her?”
“Shh Ron! Not so loud, will ya?”
The owner of the second voice was obviously Harry Potter himself. She figured such since she often heard Snape call him out while she was working, and she started to recognize the voice without glancing upwards; plus she, as everyone else as well, quickly figured out Snape had a disliking for Potter.
“So you do?” Ron asked urgently, breaking the girl out of her thoughts about Potions, her mind once again slowly forgetting her book that was probably on the table right in front of where they were talking.
“No I don’t. She’s crazy, Ron. Always talking about him. I tried to talk about something else, but she just started crying.”
The girl would’ve heard a undisturbed laugh, but what she heard instead was Ron muffling it with his hands, somehow making it sound more obvious of his chuckles.
Her heart squeezed with anxiety. She recalled a moment, a moment where she didn’t want to remember, but her brain brought it to the front of her mind anyway, pushing it into her thoughts despite her protests.
It started with a sweet Hufflepuff boy she encountered, resulting in blushing cheeks and brushing shoulders. Their lips have locked and their hands have intertwined. But even by a couple months he locked lips with another girl in what they thought was an abandoned corridor, her teary eyes being the next thing he saw when he heard a sniffle.
He tried to explain, tried to gain her broken heart’s pieces back together, but it was no use. So she was left broken and teary-eyed, running through the halls before bumping into Potter, his flustered face turning scarlet out of surprise and embarrassment when he saw she was crying.
He had comforted her that day, warm arms she always dreamed of being in wrapping around her shoulders. She observed from a far that when he hugged friends after Quidditch games, he often placed his face in their neck, and he was doing just that. His nose tickled her skin, his soft breathing brushing it. His lips were something she would always remember, for his mouth was touching her shoulder. She remembered shivering in the best way, but she hoped he took it as she was shaking from the endless sobs that were previously escaping her. But as soon as he wrapped his arms around her, as soon as his lips touched her skin, as soon as his heartbeat was beating in her ears, the sobs ceased.
Was he talking about her? The moment where he held her at her most vulnerable state, the moment he provided her so much comfort that she believed nothing could hurt her again. He could’ve been taking about anyone else in the school, for there was so many girls they could be discussing.
But only one girl he comforted while she was sobbing over a break up with a boy. And that was her.
So yeah, it burned, it burned when he talked about that moment like it was nothing, like the comfort he provided her was fake. Did he even care? Why would he be annoyed by her hurt? Why would he be annoyed when her heart was crushing by the second, watching as her hands fumbled with the pieces as he held her?
And something else burned, besides her chest that was trying by the second to stay together, and that was her eyes, for the tears were brimming her lids.
Her vision got blurry. And yet she stayed, her brain telling herself that he had more to say, more words to destroy her with before she finally walked away.
And she was right, painfully, for Harry wasn’t done yet.
“Why was she crying?” Ron asked. She could hear Harry’s eye roll in his voice, annoyance dripping from his words.
“It’s obvious, Ron. He isn’t with her anymore.”
“Right.” Ron muttered. “Well didn’t she have the right to be sad?”
She peaked just enough to see Harry shrug. “I mean I guess but it was so awkward- like go cry to someone else, please. Plus she ruined my robes with snot.”
It wasn’t just the words that hurt, but the tone in the boy’s voice. He sounded done, annoyed even. But why would he decide to comfort her when he was gonna later go and make of it?
She backed away from the door, eyes burning with the very tears he just ridiculed. She faintly heard Ron bid goodnight, his heavy steps going up to the boys’ dorm once Harry said the same thing.
She was sure she heard Harry’s footsteps as well, squeaky shoes from rainy Quidditch practice going up the stairs, following Ron.
She entered the Common Room then, eyes blurred as she spotted her Potions book on the table. She gripped it in her fingers, almost like she was giving it her pain before practically sprinting up the stairs to her own dorm, a sob wedged in her chest the whole way up.
As soon as she entered the room the noise was let out, the pain in her chest far worse than it was that night in his arms. She sat on her bed, hugging a pillow as if it would take her heart ache.
She thought Harry cared about people other than his friends. She thought he was nice. Maybe the popularity around Hogwarts just made him careless. She didn’t know the reason, but all she knew was that she was planning on never talking to Harry again.
It’s not like he would care anyway, right?
Tumblr media
Her eyes were red the next morning. Which was something she hated, but she had to deal with it. She could’ve simply put her wand to her face and casted a spell to get rid of it, but she recalled an occurrence where a girl in Hufflepuff did that only to have such puffy eyes she couldn’t see for two days; even the nurse took forever to get the swelling down.
But, to her fortune, they swelled down a little bit by the time it was breakfast.
She sat in her usual spot, the one no one else sits at, away from everyone else.
Yes, it as her Fourth Year at Hogwarts and her she still didn’t really have any friends. Sure, she was on good terms with Hermione and Ginny, but they didn’t speak to her often, mainly focused on Harry.
Harry.
They spoke quite a lot since the encounter in the corridor, her crying in his arms. He would stop by her dorm steps and walk her to class, walk by her in the corridors and catching up on the latest news.
But ever since last night she wanted to break that bond, for now she thought differently of the boy. She wouldn’t lie though, she did miss talking to him. She missed the smile he would give her in the mornings, and the soft giggles they would share in Potions class, making fun of how Snape’s nose looked abnormally large that morning.
But it was all over.
She thought he cared about her.
Was all those exchanged giggles and smiles for nothing? Just a cruel joke to him when to her they meant everything?
She ended up not being able to eat that morning, for the swirling in her stomach from Harry’s words kept her from doing so.
She kept her head down most of the meal, not wanting to make accidental eye contact with anyone so they could see her partly red eyes.
It wasn’t until her ears picked up on the sound of feet stepping toward her that she looked up.
Only to meet green eyes the color of freshly grown spring grass.
She almost flinched at the sudden company, eyebrows shooting up in surprise.
Why did he want to talk to her? He just made fun of her, now he’s gonna act like he cares?
His lips parted and closed like a fish for a couple seconds, them just staring at one another before he spoke. “Hi.”
His voice was shaky but he didn’t stutter.
She cleared her throat, embarrassed that he probably could see her red eyes. “Hello, Harry.”
She mentally cursed him for looking so good today. He didn’t look any different than the other times she’s seen him, realistically, but maybe the fact that she planned not to talk to him her mind highlighted all his good features.
His glasses framed his eyes exceptionally perfect, cheeks flushed and eyes darting too and fro every couple seconds.
Damn it Harry, why do you have to be so cute?
She cleared her throat. “What are you doing here?”
He swayed on his feet, putting his weight on one leg then the other. His eyebrows shot up as if he was surprised at her question before putting himself together and replying.
“W-” his throat cleared. “Why aren’t you talking to me anymore?”
She almost was thrown back by his answer. He couldn’t be serious.
But the hopeless tone in his voice proved her otherwise, like he genuinely wanted to know. The way his eyes were so wide in confusion and wonder behind his glasses, wondering why she was avoiding him.
Obviously he didn’t know she was outside the Common Room during his complaints towards her, but why did his confusion and slight hurt look so genuine?
She cleared her throat, both to make her voice not crack and clear her running questions in her mind. “I think it’s quite obvious, Harry.”
His confusion only got deeper and more expressive, eyebrows furrowing and forehead ceasing in thought. “I’m afraid I do not follow….”
She suddenly felt a spur of anger towards the boy before her, own eyebrows scrunching in frustration. “Don’t act like you don’t know, Harry. Don’t act like what you said wouldn’t have any effect on me whatsoever.”
“What I said?” He questioned, face showing even deeper confusion. “I didn’t say anything about you, not anything negative that is.”
“Oh don’t lie,” she found herself blurting out. “I heard you saying that I was annoying and that you wanted me to drool all over someone else-”
“Woah,” he interrupted, stepping forward and grabbing her arm oh so gently. He then let a light-hearted laugh escape his lips, unknowingly to him only raising the anger inside her.
“What’s so funny?” She demanded, trying to rip her arm out of his grip but failing to do so.
“Love,” he started softly, sitting down beside the girl and finally letting go of her arm, leaning his elbow on the table in front of them. He then faced her, face showing so much genuine feelings that she had trouble staying angry with him, so much so that she felt the snarl on her lips falling into a slight frown.
He then tapped her leg to bring back her attention to him, as if her brain wasn’t already crowded with thoughts of the black-headed boy. “Did you even hear your name within the conversation?” He asked gently, a teasing glint in his eyes.
She scoffed, like the answer was obvious, but now that she thought about it she couldn’t quite place hearing her name in their discussion, for he just used pronouns. But that didn’t make the possibility of them discussing her any less.
“Well, no, but that doesn’t mean-”
He sighed, shushing her softly. “Yes it does, because I wasn’t even talking about you. I was talking about..” he then hesitated, almost like the actual person he was gossiping about was watching him over his shoulder. “I was talking about Cho.”
The girl’s eyes widened, subconsciously spotting forward on the bench of the table closer to him. “But I was crying and you comforted me,” she protested, still trying to convince herself that she was the person he was talking bad about. But Cho? What had she done to Harry to make him talk so negatively about her?
“So did Cho,” Harry started. “Sobbing about Cedric. And I know that it was a valid reason to be crying about, but it was awkward because we aren’t that close, and she ruined my freshly cleaned robes.”
The girl couldn’t help it, she let out a tiny giggle at not only the fact that Harry was complaining about his robes, but the face he made. He looked like he genuinely felt bad for talking bad about the Ravenclaw, yet deep down he really wasn’t sorry; his expression of showing it was too funny not to laugh at.
“Hey, I feel kinda bad now, okay?” Harry attempted to protest, but he still had a curved corner to his lips.
“It’s okay, Harry,” she assured. “I’m glad you weren’t talking about me, because I would definitely missed talking to you.”
Harry’s cheeks dusted pink which made her admire him more than usual, his shoulders curving into his neck to attempt to hide himself.
“I just wanted to let you know,” Harry’s voice suddenly went lower, in a quiet whisper that she had to slightly lean in to hear him. “That I don’t at all regret what I did to comfort you, and that I care about your feelings. And that I would never to anything to intentionally harm them.”
It was the girl’s turn to have flushed cheeks, for she could feel them burning her face up at that very moment. Her heart fluttered at the praise and the love that flooded his words. She felt warm all over, her chest fuzzy with emotion as she shyly looked away from him. “Thanks, Harry. That means a lot to me. And that goes for me as well, I care about your feelings too.”
Harry smiled, something she wanted to see every second of her life. His eyes crinkled beneath his glasses, happiness flooding his features and she could feel her cheeks warming, all because of the boy in front of her.
“Do you think that we can forget this misunderstanding and start over?” She asked almost shyly, like she was embarrassed for assuming their discussions were about her.
Harry eagerly nodded, making her chuckle, and they shook hands to seal their promise.
Let’s just say that those intertwined hands didn’t separate until they got to their next class, for they were afraid Snape would ridicule them at their public forms of affection.

SEBASTIAN SALLOW had no problems getting someone to agree to going to the Yule Ball with him, he was charming, charismatic, handsome, clever and funny. It wasn’t his lack of ability to find someone that was hindering him, but rather his inability to actually ask the person he wanted to go with: you.
You were sitting in the Undercroft with him one evening, drinking your classic fire-whisky and chatting about your upcoming exams and how the Yule Ball was a pleasant distraction when Sebastian asked who you were going with. Curiosity glimmered behind his brown eyes as he watched your face twist and turn, a variety of emotions flickering through your expressions. “I’m not going with anyone yet,” you replied with a slight shrug.
“What do you mean, ‘yet’?” Sebastian asked as he raised an eyebrow at your response.
“Well, Amit actually asked me-” you started, but Sebastian cut you off.
“Amit huh? That’s nice,” jealousy bubbled in his chest at the thought of you actually going to the ball with Amit.
“If you'd be so kind as to let me finish before interrupting me,” you reply with a cough, rolling your eyes. “Amit asked me to go with him, but there’s someone else I want to go with.”
Sebastian took a large swig of the amber liquid before responding. “Someone else you want to go with?” For a second, with the way you were looking at him, Sebastian felt some hope swirl through his chest but that was short lived when you replied.
“Yeah, but I doubt this person would actually want to go with me. I might just agree and go with Amit… What do you think?”
“Absolutely not,” Sebastian shook his head, determined to not let you attend the Yule Ball with Amit. Amit was nice enough, but he couldn’t treat you the way Sebastian could. “Who is this other person?”
“It’s nobody,” you mumbled, averting your gaze away from Sebastians.
“Why wouldn’t this other person not want to go with you? You’re smart, beautiful, funny and don’t even get me started on your personality!” Sebastian exclaimed, his voice slightly slurred from the fire-whisky. Your eyes widened at his words, a slight pink blush scattered across your cheeks in response. “Anybody would be happy to go with you.”
“You think so?” you asked Sebastian, playing with the hem of your shirt.
“I know so,” Sebastian whispered as he leaned in slightly closer to you. Whether it was the courage he had gained from fire-whisky or his dire need to go to the ball with you, Sebastian finally spoke up. “I don’t think you should go to the ball with Amit. In fact, I don’t think you should go with anyone.”
Your eyes widened at his words and you visibly frowned at him. “I want to go, Sebastian. I’m not going to not go just because you’re jealous.”
Sebastian smirked at you, shaking his head. “First off, I’m hardly jealous of Amit. Secondly, I’m not saying don’t go to the Yule Ball Y/N. What I’m saying is you should go with someone else.”
“And who would that be? Because I’m pretty sure the only person who wants to go with me is Amit.”
“That’s not true,” he whispered, his voice husky. He leaned in even closer, so-much-so you could feel his breath fanning across your face. “I want to go with you, as more than just friends.”
You blinked rapidly at Sebastian, wanting to make sure you heard him right. “You? Want to go with me?” Sebastian just nodded, watching as you thought and with every second that you didn’t respond to him, Sebastian couldn’t help but feel a little dejected. That was until you grinned at him. “I’d love to go with you, Sebastian.”
He was shocked. “Really?”
“Really,” you nodded your head.
Sebastian placed his glass of fire-whisky on the stone floor of the Undercroft before cupping your face in his hands gently. He caressed your cheeks with his thumbs before capturing your lips in a soft, gentle kiss. After a few seconds, Sebastian pulled away and rested his forehead against yours. “I’m glad. I’ll pick you up from your common room tomorrow evening, about six?”
“Sounds wonderful,” you whispered back to him, your lips tingling from the kiss. You couldn’t wait to see what the Yule Ball had in store for you and Sebastian, but whatever it was, you were eager.
Tumblr media
OMINIS GAUNT hated the idea of the Yule Ball, after all, socialising with his peers didn’t exactly sound like a good time to him. The only reason he was going at all was because you and Sebastian wouldn’t stop pressuring him about it. You were sitting next to Ominis in Charms class when you turned to look at him, placing a hand on his shoulder to gain his attention. “What is it?” He asked, turning his head to your general direction. He couldn’t see you, but he could sense you were staring at him.
“Who are you going to the Ball with?” You asked softly, your voice a whisper so as to not disturb the class.
“You and Sebastian?” Ominis replied, his voice sounding more like a confused question than an answer.
“I mean who’s your date?”
“Date?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah, your date,” you replied as if it was the most obvious question in the world.
“I don’t have a date,” Ominis replied, swallowing the lump in his throat. Truth be told, he had wanted to ask you to be his date but had disregarded that idea altogether when Sebastian had told him to ‘dream on’.
“Ominis!” You whispered.
“What?” He replied, his voice a low hiss.
“You need a date!” You responded.
“No. I don’t,” Ominis hissed. Truth be told, if he couldn’t go with you then he didn’t even want to go. “Besides, who would want to go to a ball with a man like me? I’m blind, remember?”
“So?” You asked, furrowing your eyebrows. “What does that have to do with anything?”
“Well,” Ominis cleared his throat and sighed. “Usually women like to be complimented on how beautiful they look. I can’t see a thing.”
You couldn’t help but roll your eyes at Ominis. He was always putting himself down because he couldn’t see or compliment someone. “You compliment me all the time even though you can’t see. Just because you’re blind doesn’t mean you can’t show someone that you care.”
Ominis shrugged his shoulders, his behaviour half-assed as he turned his attention back to the front of the classroom. “It just comes naturally with you,” he mumbled under his breath, too low for you to hear. You drop the conversation and pay attention to Professor Ronan’s class, all while Ominis thought about asking you to the Yule Ball. He knew that Sebastian had implied that he shouldn’t even bother asking, but Ominis couldn’t help but think of the possibility you could say yes. Sure he was pessimistic about most things, but he couldn’t help but feel a slight sense of optimism when he thought about it.
Ominis, as usual, gathered his things after class and took his wand out of his robe ready to make his way back to the Slytherin common room when he felt a hand intertwine with his. “What is it, Y/N?” He asked, his voice full of intrigue.
“How did you know it was me?” You asked softly, your eyes widening.
“A few reasons,” Ominis replied sheepishly before changing the subject. He didn’t want to admit to you that he had memorised the size and shape of your hand in his.
“Who do you want to go to the ball with? Come on, I’ll help you!” You exclaimed, dragging him along the corridors.
Ominis let out a sigh and stopped in his footsteps forcing you to be pulled back against his body. You stammered out a quick sorry and put some distance between the two of you as you looked away from him with a faint blush on your cheeks. You were glad, in a way, that Ominis couldn’t see your flushed face. “Look, Y/N, Sebastian told me that I shouldn’t tell you but I can’t hold it in-”
“Tell me what?” You asked.
Ominis squeezed your hand lightly before running his free hand through his blonde hair, letting out a nervous exhale. “Will you come to the ball with me?” His voice was a whisper, almost as though he didn’t want anybody else around the two of you to hear.
“Are you, Ominis Gaunt, asking me to the Yule Ball?” You asked, a sly smile appearing on your lips.
“I understand, I’m sorry I-” Ominis stopped his sentence in his tracks as your response and inflections fully registered in his mind. Ominis knew when you were smiling, and he knew when you were about to agree to something. “Wait… is that a yes?”
“Of course it’s a yes, you idiot!” You exclaimed, squeezing his hand tightly. Ominis used his thumb to rub small, soothing circles on the back of your hand as he let out a breath he never knew he had been holding in. “Also, you spoke to Sebastian about this?” Ominis nodded his head sheepishly, his milky eyes looking away from your direction as if embarrassed. “Ominis you know never to listen to Sebastian’s opinion,” you chuckled, shaking your head in faux disapproval at your friend's judgement.
“I know but he really had me convinced this time,” Ominis shrugged in an attempt to defend himself.
“I’d be honoured to go to the ball with you Ominis,” you smiled softly before standing on your tiptoes to press a kiss to his cheek. “I’ll see you tomorrow evening.”
Ominis felt his face redden at the feel of your lips against his cold cheek, electricity igniting deep within him. He couldn’t, in that moment, find it in himself to kiss your lips. The moment he kissed you had to be perfect, and what moment was perfect other than a ball?
Tumblr media
GARRETH WEASLEY had asked you to the Yule Ball plenty of times during the run-up. In Charms class, in Potions class, hell he’d even come up to you during lunch and make a grand gesture, but each time you would turn him down. Not because you didn’t want to go with him, you really did want to be the girl on his arm, but you saw his asking as nothing more than what you thought it was: a joke. He had approached you yet again asking you the same question, if anything the man was persistent. “Will you go to the Yule Ball with me Y/N?” Garreth asked, on one knee as if he was proposing to you.
“Garreth I’ve told you a million times, no.”
“Why not?” He pouted, standing up and looking at you as if he were a lost puppy dog.
You pinched the bridge of your nose in frustration. “Look Garreth, you’re a really really sweet guy. You are-”
“If I’m so sweet and charming then why won’t you be my date?” He interrupted, causing you to roll your eyes at him.
“I never said you were charming, but if you let me finish I’d tell you why,” you snapped, clearly beyond frustrated with the ginger's antics. “I won’t go to the ball with you because I don’t want to be asked out as a joke. I want to go with someone who genuinely wants to go with me.” Garreth stood there looking rather stunned at your admission, and he quickly realised that you thought his hopeless attempts of asking you to be his partner at the Yule Ball was a joke. Before he could say anything in response you turned on your heels and walked away to your next class.
That evening, you had snuck out of your common room to go to the astronomy tower. The stars were shining bright and it was certainly a sight to behold. Your mind was swimming with various different thoughts between your exams and the upcoming Yule Ball when suddenly a cough caught your attention. You spun around coming face-to-face with Garreth. He eyed your curiously. “What’re you doing out here?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Needed some fresh air,” you replied, leaning against the railing of the astronomy tower.
“It’s almost midnight,” Garreth reminded you.
“So?” You asked, shrugging slightly. “What are you doing out here?”
“Needed some fresh air,” he repeated your lines back to you as he stalked over to you. Grinning at him, you rolled your eyes playfully.
“What’re you really doing out here?” You asked after a few seconds of comfortable silence.
“I had a feeling you’d be out of bed,” Garreth replied. “I wanted to speak to you.”
“Look, Garreth, if you’re going to make another joke about us going to the Yule Ball together, save it.”
“That’s the thing, I’m not joking,” he said quickly, his hands resting on your shoulders. “I want to go with you.”
You cocked your head at him curiously, searching his eyes for any sort of a lie. When you saw none, your mouth hung wide open. “You want to go with me?”
“Yes. More than anything!”
“So, you weren’t joking?”
“Merlin, no. I wasn’t joking,” Garreth smiled warmly at you and it sent your heart into a fluttering frenzy. You blinked rapidly at him, batting your eyelashes like a moth flying towards a flame.
“I swear to Merlin, Garreth if you’re joking you’ll never see the light of day again.”
“I’m not joking,” he chuckled, shaking his head. “Why did you think I was joking?”
“You kept making these big, overly affectionate grand gestures. Hell, some people even thought you were proposing to me earlier today because you were on one knee.”
“That’s my love language,” Garreth replied defensively. “The time to worry is when I’m not being overly affectionate and making grand gestures.”
“Besides,” you ignored him and continued talking, the words coming out of your mouth like vomit. “I thought we were just friends.”
Garreth took a step closer to you, resting his hands on your hips. “I want to be more than just friends with you Y/N.”
“Y-You do?” You asked, shocked to your core. Garreth continued nodding, his smile widening at your shocked expression.
“I want you to come to the ball with me, as my date, not my friend.” Immediately you nodded your head. There was no doubt in your mind that you wanted to go with Garreth, and so you didn’t hesitate to answer. You wrapped your arms around Garreth’s neck and pulled him close to you, nuzzling your head against his chest lovingly. It was sweet, the way his heart was beating so fast. “I take it the nodding of your head is a solid yes?” He asked, grinning widely.
“Yes,” you whispered against his chest. Garreth brought a hand up to stroke your hair.
“Wear something red,” he said after a few moments of silence.
“Red?” You asked, slightly confused.
“Gryffindor colours,” he replied, confirming your suspicion.
“Right,” you nodded your head and pulled away from Garreth’s chest. “I should go back to bed, but I'll see you tomorrow?”
“You can count on it,” Garreth smirked, pressing a tender kiss to your forehead. You felt your heart flutter in your chest as his lips met your head. You brushed your nose up against his before planting your lips softly on his. Garreth was slightly taken back by your boldness, but accepted the kiss nonetheless, eagerly kissing you back. When you pulled away, Garreth was breathless, his chest rising and falling dramatically with each deep breath he took. “I’ll see you tomorrow, beautiful.” And with that, he watched you walk away from the astronomy tower.

LEANDER PREWETT was shy, nervous and anxious about asking you to go to the Yule Ball with him. In fact, he was insistent on not going at all, but when you batted your eyelashes at him and begged him to come, Leander couldn’t say no. “Who are you going with?” You asked Leander as you walked with him to your next class.
Leander stopped in his tracks and rubbed his neck awkwardly. “I don’t have a date, actually.”
You were shocked to say the least. Leander was a good looking man, who wouldn’t want to go to a ball with him? “Is that why you didn’t want to come?”
“Something like that, yeah.”
You sighed, sitting down on the bench outside the Defence Against The Dark Arts classroom and patting the seat next to you for Leander to sit down. Nervously he looked towards the classroom door before obliging, sitting down next to you but leaving just enough distance to be considered respectful of your personal space. “You know, I don’t have a date either. But just because I don’t have a date, doesn’t mean I don’t want to go.”
Leander nodded, a slight hum leaving his throat at your words. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to go, he wanted to go and enjoy his night. The issue was he wanted to go with you. “I suppose,” he whispered, looking down at his feet.
“Are you thinking of asking anyone?” You asked him softly, placing a hand on his knee. Leander became acutely aware of your hand gripping his kneecap and felt his breath hitch in his throat. He became a bumbling mess of a man as he tried to explain his predicament to you without telling you exactly why he didn’t want to go.
“Yeah - I mean there’s this girl - but I don’t think she’d want to go with me and, I feel too nervous to ask her in case she shoots me down,” Leander muttered.
“Who would ever shoot you down, Leander?” You asked him seriously as you furrowed your eyebrows. “You don’t give yourself enough credit. You’re smart, charming and handsome. Plenty of women are just dying to ask you to the ball!”
Leander felt his heart skip a beat at your description and he looked up from his feet to gaze into your eyes. Were you saying that just to be nice, or did you really mean it? Surely if you meant it, then there’s no way you’d turn him down… right? Leander let out a shaky sigh. “Do you really mean that?”
You nodded your head, a bright smile playing on your lips. You hated to admit it, but the thought of Leander asking someone else other than you to the ball cut you deep inside, but you were his friend and you had to be supportive. “Why don’t you practise asking me? Pretend I'm the girl.” Leander looked horrified at that suggestion and he felt his palms become sweaty. You squeezed his knee in reassurance. “Don’t be shy, Leander, it’s only me.”
‘That’s the problem’, Leander thought as he opened his mouth to speak. His throat ran dry as the words came tumbling off his lips, and fast. “Wouldyouliketocometotheballwithme?”
“Good, but…” you trailed off, giggling slightly. “It was a bit fast. Try to slow down, the trick is to act confident. If you act confident, but not too confident, you can’t go wrong! The girl will be like putty in your hands.”
Leander took another breath and ran a hand through his ginger hair. He looked down at your hand on his knee before looking into your eyes once more. With a deep breath, he spoke. This time sounding more serious and determined than before. “Will you, Y/N L/N, attend the Yule Ball with me?”
You removed your hand from his knee and clapped in approval. You couldn’t deny the beating of your heart in your chest at the thought of him truly asking you to the ball, but you shook your head, trying to get that thought out of your head. “Perfect! If you say it exactly like that, that girl is bound to say yes!”
Leander furrowed his eyebrows and pinched the bridge of his nose. He decided to try again. “Y/N… Will you accompany me to the ball?”
You blinked at him, heartbeat thumping in your ears. You wanted to believe that he was just practising again, but the way Leander was looking at you made you realise quickly that he wasn’t. “M-Me?” You asked him, pointing at your chest.
“Yes. You.”
“Why me?” You managed to stammer out, feeling your cheeks flush red from embarrassment.
Now it was Leander’s turn to place his hand on your knee. “Because you’re smart, charming and beautiful,” he replied, echoing the words that you had used to describe him earlier back at you. “And I would be the luckiest man in this castle if you agreed to attend this ball with me.” You hesitated for a moment, unsure if this was just some prank. Leander squeezed your knee slightly, a gentle push for you to answer his question. You opened your mouth to speak, but no words came out. Instead, you just nodded your head. “You mean it?” He asked, scooting closer to you.
“Yes, I mean it,” you whispered softly, nodding your head. You felt as though the man had just proposed marriage to you.
Leander smirked, all his insecurities washing away with a nod of your head. “Great! I erm, I’ll see you tomorrow?” He asked, nodding his head slowly.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Leander,” you smiled softly, watching as the man walked away from you. Leander couldn’t stop smiling as he walked back to his dorm room, the feeling of finally being able to ask you, making him feel as though he could do anything.

AMIT THAKKAR watched you from across the room as you talked to Ominis and Sebastian, your two best friends. Amit desperately wanted to ask you to the Yule Ball, but he had managed to convince himself that one of your friends had already asked you. He had lost himself in staring at you, only noticing his gaze remained on you when you turned to look at him. Clearly, Sebastian had pointed out Amit’s staring to you. Just when the embarrassment couldn’t get any worse, you stood up and began walking over to him. Amit stiffened as you walked towards him, his eyes quickly diverting away from you. Then your voice came, “hey Amit.”
“H-Hi,” he managed to stutter out. Amit finally turned to look at you again, a soft, awkward smile on his lips.
“You okay?” You asked, voice silky and smooth. You sat down on the bench next to him, getting yourself comfortable.
“Me? I’m fine. Are you?” He asked, tilting his head to the side.
“I’ve been better,” you replied honestly. This made Amit frown.
“What’s wrong?” He couldn’t help but ask you.
“Well, it’s a bit silly,” you mumbled, shifting awkwardly next to him. “But nobody has asked me to the Yule Ball yet.”
Amit’s eyes widened. Nobody had asked you? How could that be? You were utterly stunning. He couldn’t believe that nobody had asked you, not even Sebastian or Ominis. “So you’re not going with Sebastian? Or Ominis?” His voice held a hopeful tone.
You couldn’t help but laugh slightly. “Sebastian? Ominis? Seriously?”
“I-I just meant as friends,” Amit stammered as you shook your head, still laughing slightly.
“No. I’m not going with either of them,” you stared at Amit with a grin on your face. “What about you? Who are you going with?”
Amit shook his head. “Oh. No one.”
“You haven’t asked anyone?” Amit shook his head, suddenly feeling very nervous. Was he making it obvious that he wanted to ask you? Should he ask you? He felt dizzy at your close proximity and sighed slightly as you asked another question. “Is there anyone you want to ask?”
Amit nodded his head slightly, almost shyly. “Yeah, but, I can’t seem to work up the courage to ask.”
“Why not?” You asked. “Surely whoever you want to ask would say yes! I mean, you’re amazing Amit. Don’t think about it too hard, and don’t think too harshly about yourself either.” You smiled at him, placing a hand on his shoulder comfortingly and squeezing gently. Amit looked at you, a slight blush peppering his cheeks.
“Do you think so?” He asked, eyes widening slightly.
You nodded your head. “Yes. I really do.”
“In that case…” Amit turned to you, a gleam in his eyes. “Would you like to go to the ball with me?”
Your lips turned up into a grin as you looked at Amit, both of your hearts beating rapidly. You didn’t even hesitate to nod at him, smiling widely. “I’d love to go to the ball with you!” You exclaimed, clapping your hands together excitedly.
“R-Really?” Amit asked, shock covering his face.
“Of course! I thought you’d never ask me,” you chuckle, shaking your head. Amit felt his face getting hotter at your comment.
“Honestly? I thought I wouldn’t ask either.”
“I’m glad you did,” you replied, taking his hand in yours and bringing it up to your lips.
“Me too,” he whispered, letting your lips skim across his hand. This was a dream come true for him, and for you too. “What will you be wearing?”
“Ah, you’ll just have to wait and see,” you grin, a slight giggle in your voice.
“Well whatever it is, I’m sure you’re going to look stunning,” Amit smiled, forcing you to blush lightly.
“Thank you, Amit,” you replied, slightly embarrassed. You stood up from your position on the bench to make your way back to your friends, but not before pressing a gentle kiss on Amit’s cheek. “I’ll see you soon, Amit.”
“Y-Yeah, I’ll see you soon.”  Amit watched as you walked away, a wide smile on his face. He was already excitedly anticipating the ball, but now he truly had a reason to: he’d be dancing with you. Drinking with you. He couldn’t wait to see how beautiful you looked. To have you on his arm, finally.

Some things were just facts, plain and simple; the sky is blue, two and two is four and you had a type.
“Another ginger I see.” Alicia murmured as you sat down across from her, pints of butter beer clinking together. Your eyes were locked with a pretty freckled boy by the bar.
You huffed even though she was quite right, this must have been the third redhead that you set sights on this year. “Well William got boring and,” You paused wrinkling your nose, “-pushy”
The Three Broomsticks was packed, the sounds of chatter and warmth guarding you from the icy cold of the blizzard that had swept through Hogsmeade. You and Alicia had joined the dozens of students seeking cover in the popular pub and quickly snagged a small table near a large fireplace where you now looked out on the sea of flushed faces and smiles.
“With your type it's a wonder your last name isn’t Weasley.” Your friend chuckled and you laughed.
“If I could have gotten my hands on Charlie, it would be.” You replied, your silly crush on the older Weasley brother lasting from your first year to what you were sure would be your last.
Alicia giggled, taking a large swig from her pint, licking the foam off her top lip. “Why not one of the twins then?”
“What twins?” A voice asked from behind you.
“She couldn’t be talking about us now could she, Georgie?” Fred jested.
“No no,” The other replied, “I mean what could Spinnet possibly want from us?”
Alicia rolled her eyes with great effort, “Trust me when I say I want nothing to do with you. As for my friend here, I don't know if I can say the same.” she said with a smug grin and you sent her a furious look.
Fred smirked, leaning over the back of your chair, his large palms ghosting your shoulders, “Is that true? Do you need something from us?” He leaned in even further, his nose brushing your hair, “from me?”
You began to look a bit red as he pulled away, “Please Weasley,” you managed to scoff “since when do I need things from you? In fact, I believe you still have my Charms notes.”
Fred had come to stand in front of you now, George joining his side, “It's just that your notes are so much better for writing Flitwick’s essay. ” He argued.
“You don’t even take notes.” You said, exasperated.
“Exactly” The twins replied in unison.
Alicia snickered beside you.
Chairs appeared and Fred and George sat. The table seemed half the size it was before as Fred's elbow knocked against yours.
“Made yourselves at home have you?” You spoke, wincing.
Fred just grinned and leaned purposefully closer, thighs now brushing.
You slid towards Alicia who was turning a laugh into a cough and set your eyes back on the boy with freckles.
“You headed to the Slytherin match next weekend?” Alicia asked absently.
“Of course.” George replied, “I’ve bet Lee a galleon that Malfoy catches a bludger with his nose.” he chuckled,  “He reckons it’ll be his gut.”
You all smiled at the idea, no one hated Malfoy more than those on the Gryffindor quidditch team.
“We also have business to do.” Fred said, wiggling his eyebrows mischievously.
“You don't have any more of those nosebleed nougats do you?” You asked, eyes still across the room, “I’ve got to get out of Binns’ class tomorrow.”
Alicia's eyebrows shot up, you hardly missed History of Magic, or as you liked to call it, nap hour. “Why's that?”.
“No reason.” You mumbled, intently staring into your butterbeer.
Fred’s eyes darted between the two of you.
“Of course we’ve got some.” grinned George, oblivious, “2 sickles a pei-.”
“Or for free if you tell us what you're up to.” Fred interrupted, catching a strange look from his brother.
“I'm not up to anything!” You gasped with a bit too much enthusiasm.
Alicias eyes had narrowed to slits and Fred had never looked more unconvinced.
Your face began to grow hot and you found yourself wishing you had more grace in the act of lying.
“Oh come off it,” George said, “If she wants to snog Murphy instead of hearing about the seventh generation of goblin rebellions, who are we to judge?”
You were glowing pink now, sending a vicious look at George who had taken to sipping his drink innocently.
Fred looked appalled, his face contorted like he had just caught a whiff of something horrible, “Murphy!”
“Keep your voice down.” You hissed angrily, glazing across the room again to be sure he hadn’t heard, “I'm trying to keep it quiet.”
Fred was fuming, “Who wouldn’t, swapping spit with a git like that.”
You scoffed, pulling out a small coin purse, “Can I just have some nougat?”
“Nope.” Fred responded, voice suddenly ferocious, “We’re out.”
You were beginning to grow frustrated, “George just said you had some.”
Fred glared at you, “We’re out.” he repeated his nose high in the air.
You turned to George looking for help but he threw you an I’m-not-getting-into-this look and you were forced to round back on Fred.
You glared at each other for a moment before Fred caved, "Fine we’ve got some,” He huffed, “Three Galleons.”
Your mouth dropped, “George said 2 sickles!”
He crossed his arms, “They’re in high demand.”
You stood, chair flying back into the wall with a loud crack, “You’re a complete prick.” you said sharply snatching your bag and sweeping past Fred and over to meet Finn Murphy  who was now standing to leave the pub.
“Well I think you handled that well.” Alicia said, grinning at Fred who looked as though he had been slapped.
George, who looked all too happy with himself for instigating such an interesting conversation, helped himself to the remains of your butterbeer as you and Murphy bowed out into the flurry of white followed closely by Fred’s glare.
“Looks as though she's gonna snog every redhead at school before you.” Alicia snicked.
“Yeah,” George snorted, “You might want to keep an eye on Ginny.”
Alicia giggled even harder, pressing a hand to her lips in an attempt to keep her drink in her mouth.
Fred could hardly hear them, too busy envisioning your latest with large boils all over his face or perhaps vomiting indefinitely.
Alicia managed to contain herself and shot Fred a sympathetic glance, “I've been trying you know, I keep bringing you up but she seems far more interested in Charlie.”
“Charlie!” He guffawed, “But he's been gone for ages!”
“Well he seemed to have made quite the impression.” Alicia chuckled.
“He was captain when she was appointed to the team.” George pointed out.
“Yeah when she was TWELVE” Fred gasped.
Alicia couldn’t help it, she had started laughing again, “Relax,” She spoke between breaths, “It’s just a silly school girl crush.”
Fred looked unconvinced and began to tap his heel incessantly against the floor.
“Take it as a complement!” She continued, “Charlie looks quite a bit like you, I mean you are related after all.”
Fred was not taking it as pleasantly as she suggested and began to rap his foot on the ground even faster, “We’ve got to do something.”
“We?” George snorted, “This is all you mate. I’m not the one in love with her.”
Freds ears grew pink, “I’m not in love with her!” he sputtered.
“Whatever you say.” Alicia spoke rolling her eyes.
The truth was that if Fred wasn't in love with you, he was so close he may as well have been. At the very least he had been pining after you for years and he had never been particularly quiet about it. In fact he was the opposite of quiet about it. His flirtatious remarks and dazzling complements were quite consistent. Unfortunately so was his coursing jealousy as you paraded around with boy after boy who was not him.  Every year he swore would be the year. The year where you finally realized it was him you needed and all would be right in Fred's world. But time and time again he failed as you walked out the door with a different redhead. He was growing nervous, his seventh year was upon him and this may be his last chance before you were all carted off in different directions never to see each other again. The frustration of it all was turning him bitter.
That night Fred lay awake on his four-poster, staring at the ceiling venomously. What was it? He wondered, What was it that he didn't have that every other ginger you knew seemed to possess? Why was it never him pulling you into broom closets and meeting you after classes? What was he doing wrong? His thoughts spun until he drifted into an uneasy slumber.
By the time he arrived at the quidditch pitch for practice the next morning, the rest of the team was already changing into their robes as Angilina scribbled vigorously on the chalkboard in front of them, already changed and ready.
“Fred!” She shouted watching him try to sneak his way into the bustle of the team unnoticed, “What took so long? I was beginning to think I would have to send George back up to wake you.”
He shrugged, “Sorry Cap, I didn’t get much sleep last night if you know what I mean.” he winked at her and she looked sorely unamused.
You on the other hand perked up at the insinuation, finally looking at the twin who, in protest of his behavior the day before, you had been ignoring.
“She gets what I mean,” He smirked nodding towards you, “Up late with Murphy boy last night?” He asked viciously.
You flushed as the changing room filled with chuckles.
“Murphy?” Angelina asked, turning to you, “Isn’t he a bit,” She paused, “dim?”
You scowled at Fred silently before snatching your broom from the rack and marching so quickly out onto the pitch that you hadn’t even noticed you had hit Harry in the temple with its handle.
As Potter groaned in pain and fixed his askew glasses Fred looked over to Alicia who was shaking her head slightly. As the rest of the team slowly followed you out onto the field she and George made their way towards him.
“You’re an idiot.” Alicia groaned, “No wonder she won’t go out with you.”
George chuckled.
Fred glared at the pair, “It’s not my fault she insists on only snogging boys who are 'a bit dim.'" he spoke, mocking Angelina.
“I know that this may be hard to wrap your head around,” Alicia spoke sharply, “But maybe she went out with Murphy because he was, ya know, nice to her.” She then shouldered past the twins leaving Fred gapping at his brother desperately.
The day was crisp, the heavy licks of winter drawn in by a bitter wind. But the sky was clear and the sun was out, much to everyone’s appreciation.
Fred mounted his broom still angry, feeling foolish for upsetting you yet again as you stood with your back to him defiantly.
The whistle blew and the balls were released as the team kicked off, snow flying in all directions as you did so.
Fred's head was not in practice as it should have been but instead on you, watching you speed towards the goal posts with the quaffle already under your arm. You scored easily on Ron with a feign left.
Fred was so absorbed in you that he had completely forgotten about the bludgers, one of which was hurtling at him with frightening speed. With little time to react he swung his bat wildly and pitched the bludger in the opposite direction, which with a sickening feeling he realized was right at you.
He tried to shout but you must not have heard him over the howling of wind in your ears. Because when the bludger struck you heavily between the shoulder blades you were completely unprepared. Your vision danced as the air was knocked from your lungs. You were flung from your broom with a shriek and began to plummet.
Fred streamed after you, urging his broom towards the ground with a frightening speed. His Cleansweep shuttered under the immense pressure he suddenly held it in and never before had Fred wished so badly for Potters Firebolt.
He managed to get beneath you mere feet from the ground. The force at which you hit him knocked you both into the snow with a heavy thud, and there was a sickening sound as his broom snapped in two.
Neither of you moved for a moment, the snow settling around you and beginning to melt through your robes.
“Are you alright?” Fred asked and was struck with panic when you did not respond. He sat up quickly pulling you with him, your legs tangled together in the snow. He called your name desperately, hands holding your face as you lay limp in his arms.
Angelina landed beside the pair followed closely by George and Alicia both of whom were wearing nervous expressions.
“Y/n!” Fred shouted again, tears stinging his eyes, fear gripping his throat like a vice. He was moments away from shaking you when your eyes slowly peeled open.
“Fred?” You mumbled, confused.
The boy let out a barking laugh of relief and then dove into a hug, almost knocking you back to the ground.
Bewildered, you returned his embrace and realized quite suddenly how much larger than you Fred really was. You practically disappeared into his chest, his broad shoulders shielding you from the wind that whipped across the pitch. You felt frighteningly warm listening to his heart beat quickly beneath his robes. Your cheeks were hot as he pulled away from you and began to search for any look of pain or damage on your face.
“Are you alright love?” He asked again and was washed with relief when you nodded.
As you fully realized what was going on around you, you gasped, pulling the handle of Fred's broom out of the snow.
“Your broom!” You looked horrified, “Fred, your broom broke!”
Fred on the other hand brushed it off helping you to your feet and beginning to pat the snow off your robes, “It’s alright, I’m sure it's fixable.” he shrugged, “Listen, I am so s-”
But before Fred could finish his apology George burst between the two of you, “I am so sorry!” He spoke hurriedly, “The bludger caught me off guard. I swear I wasn’t aiming for you.”
You chuckled, giving George a pat on the shoulder, “I sure hope not, but 's not me you should be apologizing to anyway.” You said, “It's Fred’s broom that broke.”
George did not issue his brother any regrets and instead sent him a wink, whipping his wand out of robes and shouting “Repairo!”
The broom snapped back together and Angelina, who was desperate to get back in the air, looked to you, “You alright then?”
You nodded with a grin and turned back to Fred who was testing the strength of his brother's repair.
“Thank you so much Fred,” You gushed, looking up at him through your lashes.
The boy's heart skipped a beat, stomach lurching, “It was no problem really.” He breathed and miraculously found you in his arms for the second time as you lunged towards him.
“Thank you.” You murmured into his robes before disconnecting and swiftly boarding your broom again.
Fred watched you leave struck for a moment. Alicia shot him a thumbs up and a grin before he was able to clumsily climb onto his own broom and follow you back up into the air.
By dinner the story of your fall had been told and retold so many times that you were now said to have plummeted upwards of a hundred meters before Fred had heroically scooped you onto his own broom, saving what was sure to be your life.
In the great hall you kept getting asked if you were okay as down the table Fred got clapped on the shoulder and congratulated for his great save. He seemed to be enjoying the new story a fair bit more than you were.
Finn had come over to ask about you halfway through dinner but you found suddenly that he was no less than boring and he returned to the Hufflepuff table after a few short minutes with a look of disappointment on his face.
Fred watched this with such delight he was sure he was glowing. George -who he had been applauding as the best wingman one could ask for all day- poked him hard in the side and pointed down the table to where you sat. Fred turned to catch your eyes already on him. He winked exuberantly and you turned away with a scoff, but your cheeks had taken a rather deep shade of red.
He grinned so wide at George he thought his lips might split, “I mean this is some real progress!” He cheered, “Did you see that? She was staring at me!”
Down the hall you turned to Alicia, cheeks still pink, “Have you ever noticed how tall Fred is?” You asked so suddenly she choked on her pumpkin juice.
You stared at her curiously as she wiped her mouth with her sleeve smiling, “Oh yeah very tall.”
You hummed looking back down the table at the elder twin who was now laughing wildly at something Lee had said, “I guess I never really thought about it before.”
Angilina shot Alicia a glance as you were distracted and the two of them broke out into giggles.
“What?” You demanded though you were still smiling.
“Oh nothing.” Angilina grinned and you huffed turning back to your dinner.
You found yourself wishing Fred had chosen to sit a bit closer to you as you watched a group of girls across from him break out into giggles at something he said, “There's no way he's that funny.” You muttered knowing he in fact was.
Yet you couldn’t find yourself being all that jealous as he kept glancing up at you, as if checking to make sure you were still watching him and much to his delight you always were. His shoulders, you noticed from where you sat picking at plum pudding, were quite wide, his arms toned. It was no wonder that he had engulfed you completely out on the pitch.
How had I never noticed this before? You found yourself wondering. How had he managed to escape your list of potential suitors when he was so obviously perfect for you?
The thought struck you rather abruptly and while you would have liked to have sat with it for a minute, Alicia was standing and you knew it was time to head back to the common room.
As students began to flood from the hall you fiddled with the sleeves of your robes, thoughts full of brown eyes and freckles .
As if summoned, Fred appeared at your side grinning widely, “Hello.”
“Hey Fred,” replied Alicia.
“Have you guys heard the news?” He asked, throwing an arm around your shoulder. You tried hard not to blush and instead shook your head, staring at the floor. “Apparently, you owe me your life.” He was beaming down at you now and you found it hard to look away.
“Oh yeah?” You smirked, “And I heard it was actually you who hit me with that bludger.”
His smile disappeared only momentarily and you were happy to see it recover so quickly.
“Ah well, I figured Angelina wouldn’t keep her mouth shut.” He shrugged, “Though I swear if I had a choice I would have knocked her off her broom instead.”
And for the first time that evening jealousy took you strongly, “Oh yeah? I suppose she would have been a bit more fun to catch then?”
Fred looked startled by your bristly reaction, “Nah,” He responded, “That would have been Georgie’s job.”
You were satisfied with this answer and felt yourself leaning against him as you began up towards the tower.
George was delighted to see you still tucked beneath his brother's arm when you reached the common room. He called you over to where he sat and you placed yourself in a large squishy armchair as Fred perched himself beside you on an ottoman.
You spent your evening rather uneventfully, finishing an essay for Snape as the Gryffindors slowly filtered off to bed in pairs. When George rose to take himself to the dormitory you expected Fred to follow but instead he stayed rooted by your feet where he now sat cross legged on the carpet looking over what looked like an extensive order form.
Hours later you yawned, stretching when you finally finished your work. It was now well past midnight and only a few fifth years remained, cramming for a quiz in transfiguration the next day. You turned to look at Fred who had long since sprawled himself across the couch before the fire and found him snoring softly.
A jolt of infatuation made your stomach flip. His messy hair glowed shockingly bright in the fire light, his pink lips slightly agape. You gathered your things slowly, sure not to wake him before you stood beside him.
You knew you should wake him, you were the reason he had not retreated to bed after all. But he looked so peaceful like this, so soft. Instead you found yourself slowly counting the freckles that sprawled across his cheeks, leaning close to brush a strand of his bright red hair out of his face. He woke immediately at your touch, large brown eyes locking with your own.
You felt your cheeks go hot, “You should go up to bed.” You mumbled beginning to pull away.
He snatched your wrist with such haste it took you by surprise, “Do that again.” he spoke.
You furrowed your brow, “What?”
“With my hair,” It was his turn to blush now, “Touch my hair again.”
It felt as though the air was sucked from your lungs yet you found yourself obeying, fingers coming to comb through the soft waves that spread across his forehead.
He hummed, leaning into your touch slowly, gaze still locked with yours. The two of you stayed there for a moment, you kneeling beside him fingers in his hair, his hand still loosely wrapped around your wrist.
“I’m sorry.” He murmured and you looked at him confused.
“For what?”
“Hitting you with a bludger.” he responded remorsefully.
You laughed softly, your head thrown back, “It's okay Fred.” you grinned. You were close now, so close Fred could feel the tickle of your breath on his cheek, “I forgive you. You made up for it after all.”
He smirked in spite of himself, “I suppose I did, saving your life and all.”
You were giggling again and Fred was sure he was in some beautiful dream where all he could ever hear or see was your joy.
“I wouldn’t push your luck if I were you.” You grinned, “I may just chuck the quaffle at your head when you're not looking.”
“Only if you catch me when I fall.” Fred whispered, leaning closer still.
You let him, your lips connecting slowly. You were pleased to find he was a fantastic kisser, his lips soft and plush, eager to please. His free hand cupped your cheek as he pulled you closer still until you were practically on top of him.
One of the alarm clocks the fifth years had been attempting to turn to roosters burst to life and you pulled away abruptly remembering bitterly that you and him were not the only ones in the room. Fred chased after your lips with his own desperate for even a moment more with your mouth.
“You should get to bed.” You repeated standing now, knees a bit shaky.
Fred was disappointed by your departure but grinned wildly nonetheless as you gathered your books into your arms and turned back to him.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Fred.” You yawned and began up the stairs to your dormitory determined not to let him see the childish glee that had spread across your face.
“Wait!” He called after you, lurching from the couch and stopping at the bottom of the steps.
You turned back to him taking in the wonderful sight of him staring lovingly up at you. He looked delightfully disheveled, his hair a mess and his lips swollen from your touch. You took two steps down now only one above where he stood on the hardwood floor.
You looked down at him expectantly as his eyes bore into your own.
He lifted himself onto his toes and grabbed your shoulders forcinging you forward where you connected for a second time.
This time his breath was hot and heavy on your lips, his earnest intensifying to a level that you could only describe as hunger. Your feet dangled momentarily in the air as he lifted you fervently into his embrace. You were suddenly engulfed in Fred again, he was all you could smell sweet and cinnamon, all you could hear were his pants in your ear, all you could feel was him, his arms around your middle, his thigh pressed between your legs and his lips and tongue working so well together that it was you who chased after him this time, whining in protest when he pulled back.
You stared at him, out of breath and stunned to silence.
Fred looked as though he had just won something very expensive the way he was grinning with triumph, his eyes dark with lust.
“Sweet dreams love.” He murmured leaning down to give you one final kiss, his lips moving sickeningly slow against your own, wet and warm. He hovered inches form your lips for a moment, as if debating diving back in, before he backed away tucking his hands casually into his robes.
“You should go to bed, love.” He smirked, “We’ve got an early practice tomorrow and I do believe you made me a promise about knocking me off my broom.”
You bit your lip to keep from breaking into girlish giggles. Your heart was still pounding as though you had just run a long race.
“Only if you swear to catch me though.” He added with a wink.
“I’ll always catch you Freddie.” you assured him before turning and hurrying back up the stairs, grinning so wide your cheeks had begun to ache.

“what—”
SIRIUS BLACK blinked, not processing what just happened as he found himself back at grimmauld place.
it was only mere seconds ago that he was at the department of mysteries, having a duel against bellatrix with harry battling alongside him. everything felt so exhilarating—he was having the time of his life, conjuring a bunch of offensive and defensive spells towards bellatrix’s way, releasing some of the pent up tension he had been trying to tame while cooped up and hidden inside the order’s headquarters.
then all of a sudden, in a moment of recklessness, a spell abruptly hit him hard on the chest, causing him to stumble backwards and almost trip on his feet at the impact.
almost.
because just when he thought he was going to fall in the veil behind him, he heard you scream his name in a manner he has never heard before. it was piercing, the kind to emit shivers on the spine, the kind he was certain he was going to remember for days on—and the next thing he knew, before he could understand the lay of events, he was here at his old home with you right in front of him, holding onto his arms so tightly that he could feel your nails digging in his skin.
the both of you had apparated, he finally realized. you had rushed to him before he could fall and grabbed him, teleporting the two of you to the one place you could think of that could keep you safe.
“____,” he began as he dawned on him what prompted you to do such a thing. “i—i’m so sorry, love. i—”
“i hate you, sirius.” you practically spat on his face, venom lacing your tone as you let go of him and instead started punching him hardly on the chest. “so fucking reckless—doesn’t fucking think about anything but himself—”
he took your jabs without complaint, letting you take out your frustration even if the spell that almost knocked him over still made it hard for him to breathe.
“you could’ve—” you continued, each punch harder than the last, a stream of tears falling on your cheeks now as it continued to sink what could have happened if you weren’t fast enough— “you really do want to leave me, don’t you? want me to bloody fend for myself again, be left alone, be without you after already suffering for merlin knows how long—”
“i’m sorry,” he said, his voice coming out as a whisper in shame of his rashness earlier. “darling, i didn’t mean to be so foolish with my actions. i wasn’t thinking, really, i’m so sorry.”
you huffed out a scoff, giving him one last shove and turning away, walking towards the wall where you lean on it for support.
you were on the verge of hyperventilating, your heart was beating so fast, and little noises were coming out of your lips as the sobs couldn’t stop. the only thing keeping you standing was how you were resting on the partition as even your knees felt like giving out.
no matter how much you tried to calm yourself down, to push away the thoughts of sirius being permanently taken away from you, you couldn’t. you couldn’t erase that horrible feeling of knowing you could have lost the love of your life again tonight—with this time no longer having the opportunity to ever bring him back to you if he did.
in an instant, sirius embraced you from behind, murmuring his apologies again and again despite knowing he couldn’t fix the damage he had done easily due to his negligence.
you didn’t force him off, but you didn’t reciprocate his gestures as well, your body shaking uncontrollably because of still being stricken with the reality of almost losing him.
with utmost gentleness, he spun you around so that you were back facing him, his calloused hands tilting your chin up in order to look at your eyes that were bloodshot and wet. he kissed your cheeks, a lingering kiss that prompted you to let out a whimper, before he kissed you full on the mouth, so much tenderness and remorse being poured into the gesture.
“i’m sorry, love,” he murmured against your mouth. “it was just a lapse of judgment, okay? i’d never want to leave you again. i will never leave you, you hear me? you’re stuck with me for an eternity.”
you gazed up at him, encircling your arms around his neck and pulling him towards you for another kiss, desperate to physically feel him which he was more than willing to oblige.
“stop being so reckless, sirius,” you pleaded, your fingers tangling in his hair, your kisses persistent. “you can’t keep on doing this to me.”
“i know, i know.” he returned the same intensity that you were showing him, caught up with the rush of sudden yearning. “i’ll be better. i won’t make you worry.”
you no longer bothered replying, you just continued to kiss him, dragging him with you to the nearest room you could wander into, a silent order that if he wanted to make it up to you, he should start by making you feel every part of him until it was clear to you that he wasn’t going to be anywhere else.

Tumblr media
The wind was sharp in Hogsmeade that afternoon, stirring the fallen leaves as the village stretched lazily into the early afternoon light. The streets were quieter than usual, most students bustling in groups toward the shops or the Three Broomsticks. But you weren’t heading to either of those places. You stood just outside the small stone wall separating the school grounds from the village, aimlessly watching the world move around you.
It had been a quiet few weeks since that strange moment between you and Sirius, both of you dancing around what could have been. It had felt like the universe was conspiring to keep you apart, and you couldn’t shake the feeling that you were waiting for something. Or maybe someone.
Dressed in casual clothes, far from the uniform of your school robes, you felt a strange sense of freedom, but also uncertainty. You had come here with no real plan other than to see if he might show. It was silly, really, to think Sirius would come looking for you. But here you were, standing at the edge of Hogsmeade, looking for something you weren’t sure would come.
And just as you started to second-guess yourself, the sound of footsteps crunching through the snow behind you made your heart leap. You froze, barely daring to turn, unsure if you were imagining things. But the voice that followed made you turn, your pulse racing.
“Didn’t think I’d find you here.”
You spun around quickly, your breath catching in your throat. Sirius was standing a few feet away, looking as out of place as you felt. His dark hair was messier than usual, his jacket zipped up against the cold, hands shoved into his pockets. But the look on his face was a mixture of relief and something else—something that made your chest tighten with anticipation.
“Y/N,” he said quietly, his eyes locking with yours, but there was something almost hesitant in his gaze, a rare vulnerability flickering through his usual confidence. “What are you doing out here?”
“I—” You froze, unsure how to explain yourself. “I was just… thinking. I needed some air.”
He studied you carefully for a moment, his gaze softening as he took a step closer. “You’ve been on my mind a lot lately,” he admitted, his voice quieter now, more earnest. “And I figured… well, I figured I should stop being a coward and actually talk to you.” He paused, almost as if searching for the right words. “I’m not good at this. At being open. But I can’t keep pretending I don’t feel… something when I’m around you.”
His words made your heart beat faster, and for a brief moment, you forgot the chill of the winter air. “Sirius,” you whispered, your voice barely audible, “I didn’t think you even noticed me. Not really.”
“Don’t say that,” he replied instantly, stepping closer, his eyes never leaving yours. “I noticed you the moment I saw you in the library. I didn’t know how to get close, how to… well, I wasn’t sure if you even wanted me to. But I can’t keep pretending it’s not there. This feeling. With you.”
Your breath caught in your throat, and you found yourself looking at him with a new understanding, a depth you hadn’t been ready to confront before. The awkwardness between you, the silence, the tension—it was all starting to make sense. You’d both been waiting, just not in the way you thought.
“I thought you were just… messing around with all those notes and drawings,” you murmured, feeling a little shy now. “I didn’t know if you were serious.”
“I wasn’t sure either,” he admitted, his lips twitching into a half-smile. “But you made me realize that sometimes you don’t have to know everything. You just have to take the chance.”
A flutter of hope sparked in your chest, and you stepped a little closer to him, your fingers brushing against his arm. “So… this is a chance?” you asked, your voice soft and unsure.
“Yeah,” Sirius replied, his voice low, like he was trying to make sure you understood. “A chance. For both of us.”
There was a stillness between you then, a beat that stretched out longer than it should have. The air was cold, but it didn’t matter. The tension between you was so thick that you could hardly think, hardly breathe.
And then, before either of you could second-guess it, you moved.
You stepped forward quickly, your lips finding his mid-sentence. You didn’t think, didn’t worry about whether it was the right time or whether you should wait for him to say more. It was as if the weight of everything unspoken—everything that had lingered between you—was too much, and you needed this moment. You needed him.
Sirius froze for a split second, clearly surprised by your sudden boldness, but it didn’t take long before he was leaning into the kiss, his hands finding their way to your waist. The contact was electric, as if the world around you fell away. You could feel the tension that had been building between you for so long snap, the silence and the uncertainty evaporating into the winter air.
When you finally pulled away, your breath shallow and your chest racing, you didn’t know what to say. You didn’t need to. The air between you two had changed completely, transformed by that one moment. You could see it in the way Sirius was looking at you, the intensity in his eyes, the way his lips curled into a soft smile.
“You… you kissed me,” he whispered, his voice rough, like he couldn’t quite believe it.
You laughed softly, a little breathless. “I thought you were about to say something else,” you teased, still reeling from the kiss. “But I couldn’t wait any longer.”
Sirius smiled, his eyes glinting with something you couldn’t quite place—was it relief? Amusement? Maybe a little bit of both. He moved a strand of hair out of your face, his touch gentle. “I guess I was talking too much then, huh?”
You nodded, still smiling. “Maybe a bit. But it’s okay. I think… I think we both know now what we were too scared to admit before.”
Sirius leaned down, pressing his forehead gently to yours, his voice barely above a whisper. “I think you’re right.”
And in that quiet moment, with nothing but the soft whisper of the wind around you, it felt like everything had fallen into place. Whatever this was, whatever you and Sirius had started—there was no turning back now. You were both all in. And for the first time in a long while, you felt like you had everything you needed.
Together.

wc: 400 warnings: fluff, cuteness, established relationship, modern au summary: Theodore comes home to find you sleeping on the couch and picks you up, taking you to bed
Tumblr media
Theodore pushed the door open with a soft click, the apartment swathed in a gentle, dim light. His eyes immediately sought you out, nestled on the couch, bathed in the soft glow from the lamp nearby. You lay there, surrounded by a fortress of blankets, your features serene in slumber.
A tender smile graced his lips as he approached, marveling at the sight of you, the way your hair cascaded over the cushions, framing your peaceful face. The quiet rhythm of your breathing filled the room, and his heart swelled with affection.
He knelt beside you, admiring the gentle rise and fall of your chest, the way your lashes brushed against your cheeks in the soft light. Theodore's fingers ghosted over the curve of your cheek, marveling at the warmth that radiated from you.
"Hey, sleepyhead," he whispered, his voice barely audible, not wanting to disturb your tranquil state. You stirred slightly at the sound, a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips.
"Teddy?" Your voice was drowsy, laced with warmth as you murmured his name, barely awake.
"Yeah, it's me," he chuckled softly, his heart melting at the sound of your sleepy voice.
With infinite care, Theodore gathered you into his arms, relishing the weight of you against him, the way you instinctively snuggled closer, seeking his comfort even in your slumber.
"You're so cozy," you mumbled, your words a mere whisper against his chest, barely coherent.
"I know, sweetheart, but your bed's waiting," he murmured back, his tone filled with affection as he carried you toward the bedroom.
The warmth of your body against his, the softness of your breath against his neck—it filled him with an overwhelming sense of love and tenderness.
"Thank you, Teddy," you murmured, your voice a soft sigh as he gently laid you down on the bed, tucking the covers around you with careful precision.
"Always," he replied, his voice laced with fondness as he leaned over to press a gentle kiss to your forehead. "Sleep tight, my love."
You sighed contentedly, the sensation of his kiss lingering like a sweet promise, and snuggled deeper into the pillows, feeling the comfort of his presence even in his absence. Theodore stood by the bedside, watching over you with adoration, before finally dimming the lights and quietly slipping out so he could go have a quick shower before joining you in bed
