My head-canon of when MC captured the two Slytherin’s (Ominis’) attention; Ominis unlike Sebastian did not have an instantaneous moment of when MC took a place in his heart. It was slow, painfully slow as the blind slytherin wasn’t one to let people get close to him easily… however there was a defining moment when he realized that MC has in fact taken residence in his heart. It was at History of magic class. MC like everyone in the classroom, has been lulled to sleep by Professor Binns’ monotonous lecture about the Goblin Rebellion, causing her to accidentally fall asleep on Ominis’ shoulder which jolted the slytherin due to the sudden contact (the poor boy has touch aversion due to his childhood trauma) much to his surprise he found himself relishing in MC’s scent and touch and ultimately deciding to lean on MC, sleeping against each other for the duration of the class.

Idk if literally anyone else thinks about this, but I’m also always thinking about Harry being all sad because people don’t really see him when they look at him, they see the bwl or his parents

And yeah there’s a ton of people who do see Harry as just the bwl, but like,, outside of like,, the order and a couple of others, most people probably aren’t seeing Harry’s parents in him, like Lily and James weren’t famous till they died (outside of James being the sole heir to an old line, although it does raise the question of if people took issue with him marrying Lily since she was a muggleborn, anyways how many people would care that much about James being the last Potter outside of other old family lines?) so outside of the people they personally interacted with, most probably didn’t pay that much attention to them, whereas Harry is hella famous and has been that way for most of his life

Idk if I can actually articulate my point but anyways once again thinking about a lot of people from the marauders generation ending up in the hp generation, and Harry’s all worried about no one caring about him anymore because he thinks most people only care about him as a replacement for his parents, but a lot of the people from his generation are only excited to meet them because they’re Harry’s parents

Idk it’s also funny to me to think about it being like still in the middle of the war and the order really caring about Lily and James being back and feeling more confident, and outside of like Snape, most of the death eaters and Voldemort aren’t fully sure who they’re looking at for a few seconds, like they’ve just been so focused on Harry for so long, only caring about them when that prophecy came out

(and considering it had to have come out around when Harry was born because due dates are so fickle and he was 1 when they were killed, it had to be max a year till they were found, not too long in the grand scheme of things)

Also I’m imagining that this is more teenage James and Lily, so it doesn’t help that they don’t look exactly how they did before dying

(My reasoning for most death eaters not caring about James and Lily before the prophecy is that I believe the theory that most order members weren’t public knowledge, they didn’t have to go into hiding until the prophecy was made (if DE’s cared about them, no way they wouldn’t have been in a protected house from the start), we don’t really know what defying Voldemort means so it could’ve been anything, doesn’t necessarily mean it was in a way Voldemort would’ve cared about till he sat down to figure out which family the prophecy could be about and was like “oh wait”, and some other reasons that make sense only to me and idk how to word them)

(Like I really think they’d be in the same amount of being famous as Tonks would be pre-prophecy, she’s an order member, she’s an auror like James who probably doesn’t take shit from all those death eaters who should’ve been in Azkaban and are now living normal lives, and she has a dramatic family history, her mom was completely disowned from a very well known family for marrying her dad, when they didn’t even completely disown Sirius!! And then she had a baby with a known werewolf, yet there’s not ever really a sense that she’s that famous or that death eaters care that much about her)

There are plenty of reasons to hate jk rowling (fuck her very much, I'm not capitalizing her name bc I don't respect her) but one of the greatest travesties of the Harry Potter book series is that she made History of Magic the most boring class ever bc she could be arsed to make and keep consistent with well thought out lore.

It's a rich and fascinating secret civilization with its own rules and terms of evolution! That should have been one of the most interesting classes! It would have been a great way to introduce lore, incorporate world-building, show the social dynamics between pure-bloods (who already know some of it) vs. muggleborns (who are just learning), and plant seeds of foreshadowing for the later books!

But noooooo! Instead we get an ancient ghost who gives the most mind-numbingly boring lectures about Goblin Wars while kids fall asleep in his class! Goblin Wars are interesting and even come into play during the Deathly Hallows! There should have been more about that other than the token Smart One being like "oh we learned crucial info to our situation in that boring class everyone else sleeps through"

I'm salty over this missed opportunity of world-building potentially bc she couldn't be bothered to put effort into that aspect of her story.

What's your theory on what the deal is with house elves? Where did they come from? How'd they end up enslaved. They are hella powerful even without wands - to the point that they can even disarm a wizard who has a wand and apparate/disapparate thru powerful wards. seems awfully convenient that such powerful creatures ended up magically bound to wizards...

Honestly, this is something I was really struggling to explain. Like, if I had to invent house elves, I'd probably make them more similar to domovoi from Slavic folklore. I won't go too deep into it, but a Domovoi is a sort of house spirits that help around the house in exchange for offerings by the household. Their magic is tied to the household as well, so outside, Domovoi isn't too powerful but they are practically all-powerful within the house they are bonded to. But they aren't slaves, they are respected or they curse the household and they gain something from their arrangement.

House-elves aren't like that, though, they don't seem to gain anything from their arrangement with wizards. But, their bond to their masters is definitely magical. Not only in how you free them but in how it affects their capabilities:

The house-elf’s highest law is his Master’s bidding,” intoned Kreacher. “Kreacher was told to come home, so Kreacher came home. . . . “

(DH, 170)

I also mentioned here, how the existence of half-elves suggests elves descended from the same humanoid magical race as wizards, veela, goblins, and giants. As such, I think what happens to goblins and elves is somewhat similar. I mean, both (plus the other magical humanoids to a degree) have the same magical capabilities as wizards in addition to their own unique magic, that in the case of elves, can sometimes circumvent wizard magic, and yet we see wizards are the dominant species.

We see wizards control the magical world, and the other creatures fall in line or try to rebel. Or, in the case of centaurs, keep as far as they can, for the most part. We also see wands are one of the main points of contention, and I have a theory/headcanon as to why.

So, what I'm thinking is that wands gave wizards the magical edge they needed to beat the other magical races. Like, I think there was some ancient war between the magical species, and that war was when wizards invented wands. These wands meant they could send weaker, less trained wizards and have them do very powerful magic. Essentially, they make sure they have a stronger and larger army since now they barely need to train wizards. After this war, the wizards kept wandlore close since its what got them their victory.

Said victory, caused centaurs and giants to draw away from humans, started the bitter relationship with the goblins, and was the origin of house elf enslavement. I think. Like, I don't really have much of details on this ancient war since it's a headcanon based of some of the canon evidence we see.

But, house elves, as magically powerful as they are when we see them, were probably a major concern at the end of that really ancient war. This is why they were enslaved magically when others weren't, the ancient wizards probably considered them the biggest risk. We also know from the extended canon about Yumboes, who are essentially African house elves. They aren't in servitude of wizards the way European house elves are, further suggesting some more regional cause, like a war.

I think the apparition and disapparation through powerful wards is not a testament to the elves' magic, but to wizards' stupidity. The wards are probably set up to ignore house-elves on purpose. They want their slaves to be able to move around to serve them best, and they are arrogant enough to not consider it a threat. I actually think most wizards aren't aware that anti-apparition wards don't effect house elves because that's how they were designed from the get-go. Most wizards don't even think about this or it's implications. We saw how Ron treated house-elves, they're just there in the way they are and no one really thinks about it.

So, basically, I think the house elves we see are the result of a violent enslavement kept by a magical bond the modern wizards probably don't fully understand. Then, through the years due to wizards breeding the elves selectively and the magical enslavement effecting their species, we get the "happy to serve" attitude many of them have. I think their attitude isn't something magical, as much as thought and bred on purpose. I mean, wizards probably make sure the best, most obedient house-elves are the ones whose genes continue on. Due to this selective breeding, it's also possible the house elves we see are on average, more powerful than they were back during their enslavement, after all, you would want to have the best possible slaves, so wizards would make sure to get the more powerful and obedient ones.

As we all know, history of Magic is the most boring class at Hogwarts so Sirius never pays any attention (except on full moons so he can take notes for Remus)

He usually spends his time in class styling his hair; like french braiding, etc. When he's finished whatever style he has done he will turn to Remus and ask him how it looks

In the beginning Remus tries to ignore Sirius but soon he's giving Sirius whispered compliments and feedback.

Pretty soon he's even giving Sirius directions when Sirius is doing his hair because he doesn't have a mirror

After a while Sirius starts to wonder why Remus puts up with his constant interruptions to class when he's normally so serious about his studies

But what Sirius doesn't know is that Remus finds Sirius playing with his hair is extremely attractive (although he finds everything Sirius does extremely attractive) though he would never say that to Sirius and risk ruining their friendship

What Remus doesn't know is that Sirius' hairstyling might not be entirely boredom, its also a bit of a ploy for Remus' attention because Sirius is also super into Remus

And so one day Sirius has done his hair up in this beautiful braided look and turns to show Remus except Remus is already staring at him and both boys start blushing

Then Remus notices that a strand of Sirius' hair has come loose so he reaches out and tucks it behind his ear without thinking

Now both boys are blushing hard and Remus is still holding Sirius' face in his hand

And neither boy is sure who makes the first move but suddenly they're full on making out in the middle of history of magic

They're only broken apart by James whistling and grinning like a lunatic which finally gets professor Binns' attention.

Sirius and Remus get detention for a week for disturbing the class but it's totally worth it.

lewis behaves as an asshole just because he wants max’s attention, so max, as little petty witch, randomly curses him. well max had no clue what actually was this curse about, until he read in his grandma’s diary, that now lewis would have hard on and orgasm every time he sees max. well neither of them take it well. max constantly teases poor alchemist every time he sees him on lectures and avoids him in free from studying time by disappearing right after the last lesson, so no one can find him. lewis starts wearing the most ridiculous clothes just to hide his front, and there always is a spare pair of pants.

after maybe a month max decided that lewis learned his lesson so he started searching for a spell that will remove a curse, just to found out that they need to have intimacy for this.
