who are sol's parents? are they ocs too? do you have art of them? 🥺
Here’s his dad, Hans Dietrich, he is the founder of Dietrich railway corporation. Hans is also a close friend of Ironwood bc they spent their academy days together and they both are the veterans in Atlas civil war long ago. 💪
I’ve not drawn Sol’s mom yet but he has a little sister named Berry.

Thanks to graveyardnuggets who not only inspired this series but also reminded me that rough drafts do not magically type and edit themselves
Out of Uniform
“Are you certain you don’t want me to track down that dancer for you?” Felix teased his friend. “I am certain I could get her name.”
Hans half-glared back before taking another sip of his beer. “Nein.”
“Fine, fine,” Felix laughed. “But you can’t blame me for trying. The way you kept glancing at her.” It would do his friend good to relax for a while. The war would still be waiting tomorrow.
While Captain Dietrich did not begrudge his men their distractions while off duty, he felt it was inappropriate to engage in an intimate relationship while he served on the battlefields. Not just for reasons of honor but also good sense. That didn’t mean he could not look though.
He glanced at the side door the woman had disappeared through; and the dancer had been compelling. With the high neckline and full length gloves her outfit could not have been described as immodest. But at the same time, the form fitting cut of the dress and sheerness of the fabric had left absolutely nothing to the imagination.
She had been graceful as well. The lacey black fan a tease as she peered over it with pale blue eyes that the smokey eyeshadow had only made more striking. Curly black hair cascading down her neck and over her shoulders.
Swirling the golden liquid, Hans raised his glass before taking another drink. Those eyes. Suddenly, it hit him and he choked, spewing the beer across the table. Immediately he shot to his feet, ignoring his friend’s grumbling as Felix tried to brush off his wet shirt.
“Troy!”
“What?”
“That was Sergeant Troy!” Almost in response to his thoughts came the sound of a large explosion. Dietrich cursed, yanking his luger from its holder as he bolted outside. There he was treated to the unforgetable sight of Sergeant Sam Troy. Dress hiked up to her thighs as she ran barefoot across the hot sand.
“Troy!” Hans attempted to line up a shot only to leap backwards as one of those accursed jeeps roared onto the scene, spitting bullets. A jolt of fear going through him as Felix appeared in the open doorway. Scrambling over, Hans managed to yank his friend into cover in the nick of time, the frame disintegrating in a hail of splinters. “Stay down!” he snapped.
Glancing back, Dietrich was unsurprised to see Troy swing up into her usual position on the second jeep. Her fifty caliber adding to the chaos as he desperately tried to pretend he had not caught a glimpse of her undergarments.
A few minutes later it was all over. The Rat Patrol disappearing in a cloud of dust. The scene of destruction was all too familiar to anyone who dealt with the Rat Patrol. His eyes flicked to the left, giving his friend a concerned once over as Felix staggered up to him.
“That was Sergeant Troy?” Felix asked in disbelief.
“Ja.”
His friend still appeared baffled. “Sergeant Troy?”
Now it was Dietrich who was puzzled. “Surely you knew the Sergeant was a woman.” He had been stunned the first time he had met his nemesis face to face. But that had been a long time ago. Nowadays it was common knowledge among the soldiers of the Afrika Corps.
“Well yes. But,” Felix seemed to be struggling for words. “I wasn’t expecting,” somewhat helplessly his hands came up, tracing a feminine figure. Far from the hulking broad shouldered he-woman he had imagined.
“Ah,” Hans clicked his tongue, looking woefully in the direction his foes had made their escape. “I am never going to get that image out of my head,” he bemoaned. The Captain could only hope the memory of Sergeant Troy all dressed up would not serve as too much of a distraction in future encounters.
As someone who wears a uniform at work it is amazing how different your co-workers look without it. I am quite certain with my hair out of a practical style with a nice dress and full makeup it would take them awhile to recognize me. Especially if I did not speak to them.

The German resistance to the Nazis and Hitler
A common criticism of the now well known 20th July plot was that many of the German conspirators were opposed to how Hitler was leading the war but not the Nazi regime as a whole or only opposed the Nazis once the fate of the war had already been decided. This was however certainly not the case for all who resisted Hitler within Germany.
These two men form part of the exception to this criticism and were consistent in their opposition from the early days of the 1930‘s and throughout the Nazi rule in Germany.
For me one of the greatest tragedies was learning of their names through wartime fiction and not through school, TV documentaries or books about WW2.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer 1906 -1945
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a pastor and theologian who was part of a well educated and connected family. In his early years he travelled and had witnessed the poor treatment of black Americans.
He returned to Germany in the early 1930’s and spoke out against the Nazis before they were elected and became a founding member of the Confession Church. This new church opposed the Nazi interference in religious teachings which sought to revise the bible to exclude Jewish influences and also remove pastors of Jewish descent.
When Bonhoeffer drew the attention of the Nazi party he was banned from public speaking and later banned from the city of Berlin but continued to gather support to oppose the Nazi influence on the church in secret.
He was informed of the 1938 plot to arrest Hitler by his brother in law Hans von Dohnányi who use his position in the Abwehr to keep him informed of the Nazi atrocities and to also get Dietrich himself a position in the Abwehr which protected him from conscription and allowed him to continue his work. He became aware that his brother in law had moved to conspiring to kill Hitler not just arrest him which as a pastor Bonhoeffer was originally against but eventually agreed that they needed to stop Hitler at any cost.
His role was to be a courier, assigned to engage in covert talks with foreign church leaders who could communicate with the Allies. He had hoped his position could allow for peace terms for Germany to be discussed however Allied wartime policy would ignore resistance from with Germany. This was party due to the allies needing to remove any ambiguity when it came to placing the blame on the Germans for the war but also because they had been fooled in the past by an SD agent pretending be be with the resistance and passing on false information. It was nethertheless unfortunate that communication from the real German resistance would be then be ignored.
Bonhoeffer was eventually arrested on grounds of sedition and sent to Tegel prison where he used his teachings and faith to comfort other prisoners and he even impressed some of the guards with his courage and strength and a few of these guards were persuaded to assist him by allowing letters to be sent to his family and one even offered to help him escape although he refused as he was worried of the consequences it may have on his family.
When the diaries of Admiral Canaris of the Abwehr (another key member of the resistance) were discovered he was found to be linked to the 20th July plot and was moved to Buchenwald and eventually Flossenburg concentration camp where he was hanged on 9th April 1945.
Hans von Dohnányi 1902 - 1945
Hans von Dohnányi was like his brother in law, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, well educated. He was a lawyer and also someone who opposed the Nazis before they had come to be elected. He began to write down the Nazi parties crimes which he planned to use as evidence if they were overthrown.
He was recruited into the Abwehr, the military intelligence service, by Hans Oster, a Wehrmacht colonel at that time and later a general but more importantly someone who also opposed the Nazis before the war had began and worked under Admiral Canaris.
The Abwehr had recruited a number of opposers to the Nazis who would work legitimately within the intelligence service but who would secretly also work against their own government. Hans would have access to their archives and he soon learned of Hitler’s military plans for Europe as well as atrocities which were being perpetrated against the Jews and on the eastern front. He became part of the active resistance to arrest Hitler in 1938 along with Hans Oster and others and would later be involved in an assassination attempts on Hitler’s life including in 1943 where a bomb was smuggled onto Hitler's plane but unfortunately didn't detonate.
The previous year Hans had taken part in a secret Abwehr operation to smuggle 13 Jews out of Germany and had illegally transfered government funds to support the Jews who were now living in Switzerland. This transfer of money would then led to his arrest in 1943 and eventual transfer to Sachsenhausen. Hans had worked to bring together civilians and military personnel who opposed the government in an effort to establish a more organised resistance. This lead to his conviction for his involvement in planning of the 20th July plot.
He was executed in Sachsenhausen likely on the same day as Bonhoeffer was executed in Flossenbürg, 9th April 1945 . He is now recognised as one of the righteous among Nations by Israel.
One more note in this great man's legacy is that his grandson is actor Justus von Dohnányi who I admire very much.

In July-Aug 1940, WS had a certain liver infection during fieldwork abroad. Hence he asked for sick leave three times. •1 Sep 1940: 10 days, went to Oberhof •Got married on Oct 10 1940 and traveled back to Luxembourg, duration unknown •1 Dec 1940: 4 weeks, went to Karlsbad •About 12 Jan 1941 - 26 Jan 1941: 14 days, went to Oberhof with Irene, returned to office a few days before 28 Jan, then "was immediately back into a flood of work". (WS wrote a letter to Prof. Valjavec on 24 Jul from Berlin. Then his letters to Valjavec and Bartholomäus revealed that he had been away from Berlin for a long time, only returning on 7 Aug. That was 6 days after the Duke of Windsor's departure from Lisbon. At the end of August he started to mention the liver infection in a few letters.)
WS stayed in a "Schloss Hotel" in Oberhof. In the 27 Sep 1940 letter he congratulated the hotel director Hans Dietrich Warsinski for hunting down a strong " einstangen Achter " (stag with a single deformed antler), and he would like to drink a toast with him but it was currently forbidden by the doctor. He also helped Warsinski to look for a Polish photographer named Dyonisius Szulczynski, who was thought to be arrested by Gestapo in Posen, however, there was no such person in the records of Posen Gestapo.
A source of US intelligence provided some background info on Warsinski, see P2. He was a friend of Otto Horcher, owner of the Horcher Restaurant in Kudamm. The restaurant used to be Göring's favourite before it moved from Berlin to Madrid. It was also frequently visited by Skorzney and other fled or released NS agents after the war. (P3: Goñi, Uki. The Real Odessa: How Peron Brought The Nazi War Criminals To Argentina.)
On 28 Jan 1941 WS wrote to his doctor in Karlsbad Dr. Woermann: •RH advised him to apply for a service injury, for which the Ministry of Interior required a brief expert opinion. •He recovered much in Oberhof but still felt some pain. •Irene gained 15 pounds of weight there, it was "much too good".

"Die NATO" von Sevim Dagdelen. Rezension

Political Classical: Conflict in the Concert Hall, Hans Werner Henze's "Das Floß der Medusa" (1968), then and since then
Cover of the original vinyl release of “Der Floss der Medusa” The 1913 riotous premiere of Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” is pretty well known in classical music history. Sandwiching the premiere of his masterpiece of modernism between well known conservative chestnuts such as “Les Sylphides” (an orchestration by Alexander Glazunov of piano music by Chopin, 1907-9) which opened the concert along…

Spaceverse Drakul and Apex Prime sketch dump!
All older sketches here that predate the RP, some by a lot, some by a little. Most of these characters have only been referenced or haven't even appeared yet so far, but I have ideas for many of them for possible stories moving forward. Many of these will likely need a new portrait to fit their Spaceverse versions better someday.
In order, we have: Shakti (reimagined from an Amber Court vampire to instead the Prime Chieftain of Apex Prime and a lioness shifter), younger Landulf, Hettienne, current Landulf, Grenier, Gerard, his sister Rosamund, Carlos, Eligio, Kyung, Mariya, Ulrika, Aldric, Adasi, Kwabena, Tsubame, Elizabeth, some sketches of Yuuki including one where she's a bit older, Adasi, Gerard, Darius (who I'll admit is pretty much Klavier Gavin from Ace Attorney's design but as a British-inspired vampire x3), Jae, Milly (who may not appear here but I do like her design, maybe she can be adapted), Marco, Bonnie, some sketches of my snake-shifter Katsuo, Chiyo, Seo Yun, and another sketch of Kyung.
Credit to Cookie who I used to write a lot of these characters with and who helped brainstorm a lot of ideas for my vampires. These characters belong to me.

Rescue Rabbit (2014)
My rating: 3/10
Die phantastische Reise, aber in doof und mit nervigem pinkem Hoppelhäschen im Hintergrund, weil ist ja für Kinder. Was das ganze mit den Gobots zu tun hat, verstehe ich allerdings immer noch nicht.
Fantastic Voyage, but dumb and with an annoying pink bunny rabbit in the background, because for kids. I still have no idea what the whole thing has to do with Gobots, though.
