Hello Tumblr people! Been a long time, over a year. I didn't realize how long it had been I've slowly over the last year have been updating all my patterns and who better to test them out on than Zelda! Echoes of wisdom zelda! I'm so excited for this game! Anyway just wanted to throw echo here into the void of Tumblr I'm pretty proud of her and super happy I found time to make her. Hope everyone is having a good year and may the time to release day go by fast!!!

Some miscellaneous handspun skeins, completed either on spindles or my e-spinner (electric wheel). The alpaca & alpaca/polwarth skeins are destined to be entered into the Royal 2025 under the spindle spun & lace weight categories respectively. Some of the other skeins are destined as gifts to crafting family & friends.
Miwak was made by #wormsandbones, design by #mokobuns

Finished knitting all the squares of my idle walking/class project, so it's construction time!!
Love putting the pieces together, loath sewing in all the ends so am saving that for my future self (thanks future me, you're the best)
This is 29/90 squares
Gonna do a black border, any suggestions for style?

The Worst Part of Every Craft
This is in my own opinion and only crafts I do, but is also relative to the craft in general. Like these are aspects that don’t change project to project, no matter how much skills increase.
Knitting (and I imagine it’s the same with crochet): Counting. Whether it’s counting in a row or counting rows. Always paranoid. Always a pain in the ass
Machine sewing: Cutting out patterns. Do you like doing an hour’s worth of work without feeling any sort of accomplishment? How about pain? Too bad, have to do it.
Hand sewing like cross-stitch and embroidery: Little threads everywhere. Littering your workspace and your clothes. Second place is eventually acknowledging the fact that your life would be easier if you bought a standing magnifying glass or those fucking glasses even if it makes you look old or weird.

The Shetland Cheviot fleece I ordered came in a couple days ago and I've been working on scouring it! It cleans up really well!! It's slow going but I'm having fun. Wool combs are on pause while I wash it, because I don't want it sitting unwashed for longer than it Has to, but we'll get there!
I got this fleece on eBay from the island farm shop up in Orkney. I don't know enough about fleeces to say much on it, to be honest, but it's been nice enough to work with and cleans up really well. I'm enjoying it even if it's hard work!

Snorlax! We all love Snorlax!
pattern is here and is very good and easy to follow. This took a little more than a week, I think? It went faster than I expected.
she’s super cuddly! Going to make a really good pillow, or at least a really good cuddle object. Haven’t weighed her but I used at least half of the 5-lb box of polyfill, and the yarn itself is pretty weighty as well (size 5). I used a 6.50 mm hook, which I believe is size K.

So, I’ve accidentally gotten interested in hand-held medieval (European) style thread spinning.
Like you do.
Unfortunately, I have extreme auditory aversions to brushes - I cannot stand the sound.
Combs are ok, and it turns out silicon brushes are fine, too (although I just use my favorite wide toothed comb on my tailbone-length hair).
But just being in the same room as someone brushing their hair with a normal brush is… 😬😣😫
Ergo I’m actively terrified of trying to card fiber with metal brushes.
Any suggestions for preparing fiber for spinning that doesn’t involve metal carding brushes??

New wip, 120g of English Shetland wool, dyed locally
It's very pleasant to spin. Very forgiving, very easy and comfortable to work with. Plus the colours are delightful!
