Anna had spent all of her childhood confined to the castle. Her sister's isolation had been difficult and it made Anna curious the moment the gates were open. Now, the gates were significantly more open and they'd started meeting more people despite her sister's anxieties toward foreigners after the whole Hans fiasco. She'd scolded Anna rather thoroughly after that. Anna needed to be more careful and she really was trying, but that was easier said than done.
Anna went down into the town, watching ships come and go. She was so curious, just wanting to understand as much as possible. Every day, she would chatter away with anyone that she could find. She tried new food and asked question after question, even attempting to learn as much language as possible before new sailors left. And, then, she'd return to the castle to talk everyone else's ear off about how much she'd learned.
Elsa was still keeping a bit of a tight leash on her younger sister. She made sure Anna followed close rules about leaving the castle. Anna was only allowed to go public places, no homes or alleys. When she left castle grounds, a guard was sent with her. She was absolutely forbidden to go further than the land their kingdom owned, guards pulling her right back in the moment she tried to go out. It was like everyone forgot she was the one that went after Elsa and saved the world. But, it was a protection that she had to accept.
Anna was especially curious when a man with dark skin showed up, staring at him with wide eyes. She ran up the him the moment his ship was docked, smiling wide as she held her hand out to him. "Hello! Welcome to Arendelle! I'm-" She quieted as the guard used his arm to push hers down, looking up at the guard in surprise as he yanked her away. She turned to look at Romulus again as the guard walked. "Sorry! My name-" The guard pulled her back again, but she turned around. "-is Anna!" She was pulled back, quickly turning around. "So nice to meet you!" She turned in the guard's grip a few times, wanting to have a conversation despite getting pulled away. "If you like food-" She was cut off again, turned back around until she turned once again. "Good food." She pointed toward an inn by the pier as she was finally just tossed over the guard's shoulder to be taken back to the castle.

To Be Seen With Thee
She had not been expecting the soft tap at her door, especially so late at night. Ziesha frowned, glancing quickly toward the wide arched windows that looked out over the twinkling lights of the city, before moving to open her chamber door.
The group of Scions had found accommodations readily enough within the city of Radz-at-Han. With the current unrest, and the city redoubling its security measures, the inn had seemed nearly deserted.
Zie felt like she had barely seen the streets they had walked, and had mostly just been grateful for the chance to sink into the colorful cushions scattered about the room. It had been an incredibly long day, and was looking like there would only be more long days to look forward to.
"Might I prevail upon thee to accompany me on an evening stroll?"
Urianger stood, framed in her doorway, one hand gracefully extended in invitation.
Ziesha hesitated. She was exhausted, and her feet were already sore.
What could he possibly need in an unfamiliar city, at this hour?
The question withered and died before it could pass her lips though, when she saw the hopeful twinkle in his eye. She was certain that he was planning something, and she was powerless to resist. So, she took his outstretched hand, and allowed herself to be swept out into the humidity of the night air.
As they walked, Urianger tucked her hand into the crook of his elbow. The gesture felt surprisingly comfortable and familiar, as if the two of them often wandered benighted streets together. In truth, they rarely allowed themselves such a public display of affection. Finding the time for a leisurely stroll, simply enjoying each other's company in such an ordinary way was a rare occasion indeed, when it seemed like entire worlds were always depending on them.
"Upon our arrival in Radz-at-Han, I had hoped that we would be afforded the opportunity to take in more of the city than we were able to glimpse in our haste to meet with the satrap."
Urianger turned his attention from the path ahead to focus on Ziesha.
"I observed thy disappointment in having to forgo the official tour of the city, and it is my hope that I might provide thee at least a small substitute, if thou art willing."

Skymandolo - Stranded Due to Inclement Weather aaaand Love Confessor
[fanfiction trop mash up]
Dallas Fort Worth airport wasn't exactly where Din wanted to be spending his Wednesday. He, Han, and Luke were suppose to be in San Francisco by now, enjoying their first real vacation together. Instead, they were grounded, waiting for the storm to pass, watching their flight get more and more delayed.
Din left the two of them on the floor near the gate while he wandered off to find the airport book store. He'd already torn through the last two hundred pages of the book he'd packed. His backup was in his checked bag, where it was currently of no use to him.
He made his way back to the gate with an intriguing new pulp mystery novel and Diet Coke after a few minutes. His boys were more or less where he'd left them. Han had a margarita now, though, and Luke was asleep, resting his head on Han's lap. The remains of this McDonalds lunch were crumpled up in the bag next to them.
"Any luck?" Han asked.
"Lucky enough," he said, sitting down next to them.
"Wish they'd just cancel already," Han complained, "so we could get out of here at least."
Din nodded. "Is he out cold?"
"Yeah," Han ran his hand over Luke's hair, "can't blame him, though." They'd had an early morning, trying to book a flight that would give them a decent amount of time in the city their first day. At this rate, though, they weren't making that dinner reservation.
"You had the smart idea," Din said, taking his soda out of the bag and gesturing to Han's drink.
"They're right over there if you want one," Han said, pointing to some kitsch Tex-Mex airport bar. "I'd get one for you, but I'm busy at the moment."
"Perfect, I'll be right back," he leaned forward and kissed Han quickly. He didn't like public displays of affection usually, but everyone was too busy watching weather radars and flight updates to look their way anyway.
"Alright, love you," Han said casually. Din froze and looked at him. Han said that to Luke all the time - little 'I love you's like that - but never to Din. Din was new; he'd only dating Luke for eight months, but Han only for four.
But still he liked the sound of it.
If Han noticed what he'd said, or felt uneasy about it, he didn't seem to show it, instead he just went back to admiring Luke asleep in his lap.
"Love you too," Din said quickly, testing the waters just a bit.
"I love you too," Luke grumbled from his half asleep state, probably less aware of what he was saying than Han was. Din and Luke shared 'I love you's all the time, but they still made Din smile to hear them. Both men smiled at him still half asleep.
"Welcome back, sleeping beauty," Han said. "Want a drink?" Luke nodded with his eyes still closed.
An hour later, their flight was canceled. "We've got another flight tomorrow at nine," Din said. Luke pressed his head against Din's back, bummed at the development, as Han called shitty airport hotels. Din turned around and pulled Luke into a tight hug. "Sorry sweetheart," Din said.
"Not your fault," Luke said.
Getting drunk in a Holiday Inn with a flight in the morning maybe wasn't one of their better ideas in hindsight, but it did make for a fun night. When they finally did crawl into bed, all on top of each other and a little more than buzzed, Din said: "I love you," to both of them. They both kissed his cheeks, squishing his face from either side.
"We love you too," Han said, before settling into his place at Din's side.

Secret Service: GLOBALISM Chapter 6
Jun: Well, putting that aside. The local idols in Kyushu were desperately searching for Mikejima-senpai.
They didn’t know where he was, so they decided to carry out a raid on an inn that caters exclusively to ES idols.
Season: Winter Author: Akira Characters: Kohaku, Jun Proofed by: gigi (EN)
Jun: To catch you up on what has happened—yesterday, a group of idols who were total strangers showed up uninvited at our place. We’d never seen their faces, or even heard of the names of anyone in that group before—
And the reason why, well... Those guys were locals.
Kohaku: What do you mean by “locals”?
Jun: I guess they're what you’d call underground idols? They’re mostly active in Kyushu.
Kohaku: Underground idols... Are they locked up in an underground prison or something?
Jun: Nooo~, it means that they’re amateurs. Ever since ES was established, it's been harder to see them around.
I’m pretty sure that there are people like that all over the country, and they’ve been watching with frustration as the idol industry gets swept up by ES.
Kohaku: Yeah, I know. As part of Crazy:B, we tend to be involved with people who don't get their chance to be in the spotlights.
These are the poor souls who didn’t manage to ride the big current of the mainstream, and ended up all washed up and gasping for air in some dimly-lit cesspool.
Crazy:B has been getting some positive publicity lately, but we don't just forget that we all started out as birds of the same feather. That's why we've taken the liberty of fighting on behalf of these kinds of folks.
Making a point loudly to the indifferent ones. “Look at me properly. Don’t just ignore me. I’m right here.”
Jun: Yes, I know exactly how it feels. I tried to do the same thing as part of Lilith (1), so you guys have all of my support.
Kohaku: That's right. Jun-han feels like he’s from this side of the tracks.
Jun: Haha. It would surprise ya, but even in Eden, everyone but Ohii-san grew up with a dark and troubled past
No one really says anything out loud, this is just from me putting the bits and pieces together to get the overall picture—
Instead of living in the stink of your own sad past and begging for sympathy, you take action to conquer the world on your own merits and become a great enough existence that no one will mock you ever again...
Well, that’s what Eden stands for.
Kohaku: Is that so? Who’d have thought that Eden, at the top of the idol world, and Crazy:B, from down at the bottom, would have started out from similar places?
Even though we’ve got different approaches, and we're both in different spots right now.
Jun: Yes. That's why, as fellow members affiliated with CosPro, we may offer to help each other.
Kohaku: Ko ko ko ♪ Double Face is affiliated with NewDi, though? Wouldn’t that make us the enemy?
Jun: How are you guys considered the enemy? We’re all idols affiliated under the umbrella of ES in the end. That’s the official stance, more or less.
And by making use of this connection We, Eden, are helpers of Double Face now.
Kohaku: ? What d’you mean, exactly? You guys are helping me look for Madara-han, sure enough.
And you fellas did get me to Shikoku, which is where Madara-han is supposed to be...
Jun: That's not what I meant. Anyway, the local idols from Kyushu who visited us yesterday, they were all, well—
Just like Sakura-kun, they were all looking for Mikejima-senpai.
Kohaku: For Madara-han?
Jun: Yep. I don't know in detail what the circumstances were, but they were all demanding to meet with Mikejima-senpai with the most homicidal looks on their faces.
The situation was pretty terrifying, I’m not gonna lie~ Quite a few of them were holding onto a buncha stuff that looked like they were gonna be used as weapons.
Kohaku: What in the world did you do to earn so many grudges, Madara-han…?
Jun: Grudges… No, it didn’t feel that way.
Anyway, they've been active as underground idols in Kyushu for a long time, but they didn't know much about ES's style.
Kohaku: That’s to be expected. After all, ES has only been established for less than a year, so its influence hasn’t spread all the way to the rural areas quite yet.
Well, up until SS began, an’ idols from ES began moving all over the country and standin’ out in the public eye...
Everyone’s become aware of the temperature difference between us and the locals now.
Jun: Yeah, well. For us, we've been holed up at the inn all this while, so we weren’t really aware of what was going on on the ground. A frog in its well knows nothing of the sea (2), after all.
Well, putting that aside. The local idols in Kyushu were desperately searching for Mikejima-senpai.
They didn’t know where he was, so they decided to carry out a raid on an inn that caters exclusively to ES idols.
Kohaku: A raid, you’re sayin’?
Jun: They couldn’t get into the inn by normal means at first, so they pushed their way in and overran the compound by force, yanno~. And, count us unfortunate, Ohii-san and I were the only ones there when they carried out their rampage.
The other ES idols had left the inn earlier to go all out on their activities in order to clear their qualifying rounds~
So, we who were staying behind for rest and relaxation, ended up being the only ones there to deal with them.
In the end, we managed to get the Kyushu group to leave peacefully after taking the time to try and listen to their situations. Ohii-san is surprisingly good at that kind of thing, y’knowーthe art of socializing.
And that was when the Kyushu group all started saying, "That wasn’t the deal.”
Kohaku: “That wasn’t the deal”?
Jun: It seems that everyone in the Kyushu group had been invited by Mikejima-senpai to team up and participate in the SS qualifying round together.
Kohaku: Huh? What the hell’s that all about? This is the first I’m gettin’ wind of any of this!
Jun: Then, in the end, instead of performing with them as Double Face as intended, it seems he went out alone on stage as MaM...
Nobody really knows how that came about, though.
But… It’s undeniable that Mikejima-senpai was seen on national television performing a guerilla live in Shikoku. (3)
Kohaku: I see. So that's what the local idols in Kyushu meant when they said, "That wasn’t the deal.”
Mikejima Madara, ya dunderhead! You went around giving people the idea you were gonna carry out idol activities with them in Kyushuー
And thanks to that, you’ve got the Kyushu group all confused and lookin’ for answers, and attackin’ a nearby inn meant for ES idolsー
Jun: If you just look at their behavior, they all have the same objective as Sakura-kun. They're all looking for Mikejima-senpai.
Kohaku: What’s going on? I mean, what’s Madara-han's objective here? Why’d he ask the idols from Kyushu to take part in the qualifying round with him?
Jun: Who knows… The Kyushu group’s full of hot-blooded energy, but they're bad at speaking so it’s hard to understand them.
The dialect is pretty harsh, and when they’re excited, it’s next to impossible to figure out what they’re saying.
Despite all that, Ohii-san seems to be able to somehow carry on a conversation with them. I think he’s negotiating with the Kyushu group and rallying them to some sort of action now.
Kohaku: Everyone’s just going around doing inexplicable things on their own, and I don’t have a clue about what the hell is going on anymore.
This is real frustrating! There's definitely something going on, but I just don't know what it is.
It feels like I'm insidiously sinkin’ down into a bottomless swamp.

Double murder in Tulilahti camping site
On 18th of July 1951, 23 years old office employee Riitta Aulikki Pakkanen and 21 years old nursing student Eine Maria Nyyssönen decided to go to a summer holiday trip, cycling from Jyväskylä to Savo and North Karelia. Eine sent a postcard on 25th of July in Koli, where she told they will additionally visit Varkaus and promised to return home on the 30th of July. On 3rd of August there were still no sign of them and people in Riitta’s work place started to get worried since her job was supposed to have started and she hadn’t come. Missing persons report was done quite quickly. The last known sighting of the women was from 26th and 27th of July when they had spent a night in a hostel/inn.
The search was started from Varkaus, the last place Eine had told they will visit, but the search wasn’t successful. On 21st of August a draftee who was part of the searching party found Riitta’s and Eine’s bodies. The women were found hidden in a swamp that was near Tulilahti camping site in Heinävesi. Eine was undressed and therefore found naked, but authorities say it wasn’t a sexual crime since the two girls were still untouched.
Riitta and Eine had arrived to the camping site on the 27th of July and put their tent on place. During the same night two local boys had arrived with a boat and hung out with them. From the same night there were sightings of a man riding a motorcycle, who appeared to be stalking the women.
The murder had to have happened on the night between 27th and 28th, because in the morning of 28th the camping site was empty. Riitta had been murdered by hitting her on the head with something heavy, and Eine was brutally stabbed. The belongings of both of them were stolen and hidden. The murderer(s) had hidden their belongings carefully and some of them are still missing today. The murderer(s) also hid the bodies to a swamp that was 200 meters away from their camp, putting logs over the grave and also placing some sort of a tree branch on the grave so it wouldn’t be obvious that the ground had been disturbed.
The police were able to find their tent, sleeping bags, underwear, a watch etc. On 4th of September they found their bikes from the deepest part of Tulilahti lake.
Riitta and Eine were laid to rest in Jyväskylä. This case touched many people, so it is no surprise that thousands gathered for their funeral. Eine was carried by her fellow nursing students, and Riitta was carried by her close relatives.
Suspects
For this case there was one primary suspect whose life this case changed forever. Whether he did the murders or not, he remained guilty till the day he died.
Runar Holmström (1923 - 1961) was arrested on 6th of November when people suggested that the guy following the women with a motorcycle could be Holmström. The police found a knife from Holmström and considered it as an evidence, because they found out that the knife fit the cutting marks left on the branch that was left on top of the grave. Holmström was seen as a suspect also because he was acting nervously when the police took him to the murder scene. At first he confessed on travelling around Heinävesi, observing the girls companied by the two local boys and then continuing his journey to Varkaus. Afterwards he withdrew his confession. According to the police Holmström had told in his confession things he could not have known without being present in the camping site during the murders. They also found a pistol from Holmström that was loaded and the safety was off, although Holmström didn’t try to use it when resisting the arrest.
In this case there were also a lot of things pointing towards Holmström being innocent. He was right handed; the one who cut the branch for the grave were suspected to being left handed. Holmström also was small in stature and was only 164 cm (5,4) tall so the police thought it was impossible he was able to carry two bodies in rough roads to the swamp, bury and cover them well.
The shovel used in the burying had been fetched from a farm house nearby where usually a feisty dog hadn’t been barking. The police did a reconstruction where they managed to do the burying and hiding the belongings in the time the police suspected all had been done, but the problem was the police already knew what had been done and where. This led the police to think the murderer had to know the camping site area well. Holmström was from Ostrobothnia (region in western Finland), that was about 429,4 km away from Heinävesi (town in eastern Finland). This fact spoke for Holmström being innocent, but at the same time he was the only person who was seen as the only possible suspect. Later it was revealed that the prosecutor for this case, Viljo Laaksonen and the judge believed Holmström to be innocent.
In the spring of 1961 near Varkaus was found women’s underwear and two hats which were brought there during the same spring according to investigation. Holmström had already been behind bars for 1,5 years so this also pointed to him being innocent. The hats and underwear weren’t faded in color so it was impossible they had been in nature over the winter.
The Trial
The trial in Heinävesi was a public happening. It started on 8th of June 1960 in Hasumäki school, three days after the murders in the lake Bodom. During the trial (that lasted over a year) Holmström hanged himself in his cell with a rope he made from sheets on 8th of May 1961. He had tried to kill himself two times before the last one, first time leaving behind a note stating “I am innocent”. That time he had tried to kill himself with barbiturate that had been prescribed for him because of insomnia.
The second time Holmström’s brother had sent him the Bible containing 2,266 grams of codeine. The codeine was found before the Bible was given to Holmström.
The suicide wasn’t really a surprise. At that time everyone in prison were afraid they would be sent to forced labor which had a reputation of workers being “buried alive”. (Possibly just describing the horrible working conditions the prisoners were put in; “working themselves to death.)
Hans Assman
One other person seen as a possible suspect is German-born immigrant Hans Assman (1923 - 1998), who was also the suspect for the murders at the lake Bodom. He has never been an official suspect, but former detective inspector and a editor-in-chief of Alibi (Finnish crime magazine) Matti Paloaro and doctor of medicine and surgery Jorma Palo have suggested in their books him possibly being the murderer.
There were multiple eye witnesses for two men speaking German visiting a kiosk in Punkaharju (close to Heinävesi), two days before the murders, and purchasing a map for the Tulilahti camping site. One of the men fitted the description of Assman. The men were travelling with Volkswagen passenger car. Assman’s wife told that Assman and his driver were in Heinävesi during the murders and that Assman had visited Heinävesi couple times before, also getting to know the area, including Tulilahti camping site.
There has been a lot of critique towards police work because when Holmström was found to possibly be the perpetrator, the police buried all other investigation routes, meaning they did not pay much attention to locals living in Heinävesi who very possibly could’ve been the perpetrators. They were so sure that Holmström was the murderer that they thought they don’t need to investigate other people further. After the death of Holmström, the police also considered this case to be solved that has gained a lot of critique in public. After all these years however this case remains officially unsolved and the police are still accepting tips for it.

THE RISE AND FALL OF KYLO REN (CHAPTER TWO)
Chapter Two: The Punk and the Godfather
Two Years Later
Han Solo had no idea what Snoke’s Number One guy would want with a smuggler like him, but he was about to find out.
The Stormtrooper brought him and Chewie to a conference room.
The big man in a black mask and a black cape sitting at the head of the table brought back some bad memories.
Han was in the presence of another Vader.
He could feel it.
“Take their binders off. Leave us.” The man told the trooper.
The trooper did as he was ordered.
“Come to the head of the table, gentlemen.”
Han sat on one side of the Man in the Black Mask, and Chewie sat on the other.
“Did either of you pirates ever wonder what the Empire did with sixty years of the spoils of Galactic war? I know more than do do. A good chunk of it ended up on this ship. The Finalizer. I asked Master Snoke for this ship. But he wasn’t inclined to give it to me. So, a couple of years ago? I took it. The ship is mine. And so is everything in it. Did you know that before I took this ship, the Galactic black market was completely disorganized? A bunch of small time operators, with no supply chain, and nobody in charge. Untalented amateurs. Now? You can get whatever you want, on any First Order ship, or base. And to some extent , along the Outer Rim. For a price. But that’s not enough for me. It’s so small-time. But then again, Captain Solo? So are you.”
“Look, pal, if you’re going to kill us, kill us. But I’m not going to sit here and listen to shit like that coming from a guy like you!”
“Sure you are. Because there’s money in it for you.”
“Money?” Han asked.
Chewbacca coughed into his hand.
He was trying not to laugh.
“Yes. Money. And something better than money. Did the trooper walk you past the hangar. Did you see the black, streamlined YT-2400? She’s my ship. I called her the Hellfire. You know how I could afford a ship like that? I’m sitting on a gold mine. Imperial gold coins by the chestful, guns and coaxium are just the tip of the iceberg. But I have no Galactic network. No connections, outside the Hutt Syndicate. Not like Han Solo does.”
“You want me to go into business with you?”
The masked man kicked a black chest over to Han.
“That’s one of my chests full of Imperial Gold Coins. I also have a First Order Captain’s Medal for you. And one for your co-pilot. And don’t worry that I’ll make you do all the dirty work. The Hellfire is the fastest ship in the Galaxy. She made the Kessel Run in 11.5 parsecs. I had to fry three engines, put in an experimental space-time hyprerdrive, fry another engine, spend a fortune on streamlining and retractable hoods for my guns. Not to mention I almost got myself killed, several times. To do it, I had to fly the Hellfire sideways through a pocket in space-time while at lightspeed. But I did it. I beat you, you old pirate son of a bitch.”
The truth finally hit Han Solo like a ton of bricks.
“Ben? Ben, holy Mother Force, is that you inside that tin can, kid?”
Kylo Ren released the mechanism that loosened his mask, and took it off.
“Who the fuck else would it be?”
Han had about five faces that he normally made.
He cycled through all of them in less than a minute.
“Am I going into business with you, or with the First Order?”
“Me. They’re convenient for my purposes.”
“Who?”
“The First Order. I’ll use them to finish my grandfather’s work. But there’s only one problem with finishing his journey.”
“There’s no money in it.”
“Not a red farkling cent. I’ve already got my command crew loading up the Falcon. They’re loyal to me. They won’t talk.”
“Because they’re afraid of you?”
“No. Because I’m a good commander, and I never ask them to do anything I won’t do. Because they respect me. And because I cut them all in for a piece of the action. You’re my father, Solo, and I don’t want to kill you. So I hope you take the deal.”
“Listen to him talking tough, Chewie. Kid, I never knew you took the family business so seriously. I just thought you wanted to get away from Jedi School.”
“Well, I did that, didn’t I?”
Kylo Ren smirked.
“Yeah, you did. Of course I’ll take the deal.”
“Good.”
Kylo Ren took his glove off, and extended his hand to his father.
He and Han Solo shook on it.
***
“But you can’t leave me, Kiera! I love you! I freed you and your whole family from slavery! I saved your life! I’ve given you everything you ever asked for. Tell me what more you want? Anything? Anything in the Galaxy? It’s yours. Your family. Do they need a new house? More money? Anything.”
“Kylo, I am grateful to you for your mercy and your generosity. In spite of everything you do, you’re still a good man at heart. And you really are some kind of man. But I can’t live like this, anymore! Your secrets, your moods, your nightmares! You’re…a whole bunch of guys, and some of them? They scare me. I hate to break your heart, I do, because you’ve given me everything. And I know I’ll never find another man like you. But that’s part of the problem. I’m an ordinary woman. You don’t need an ordinary woman. You need somebody like you.”
“You’re leaving me, too! Just like in Jedi School! Why? Why do you all leave me?”
“Your love’s too heavy on the human soul, Kylo. I’ll never forget you. Or what you’ve done for me. But I can’t bear it. You’re going to break me. I can feel it.”
Kylo Ren sighed.
“I understand. I’ll take you back to Tattoine. But not before I buy you that garage you always wanted.”
“You don’t have to do that, Kylo.”
“Yes I do. If you have to leave me? I want to make sure you do it with a solid-gold parachute. Will you still be my mechanic?”
“Yeah. And when you come to get some work done? Don’t feel like you need to stay at an inn.”
***
“Kylo, let me in.”
“Go away, Phasma!”
She let herself in.
“Why do you do this to yourself? Every time, you think this one, this girl’s the one. I love her, and she’ll never kick me in the teeth and take me for everything but the clothes on my back. And every time, you’re wrong!”
“Maybe if you had more than two days a week for me, Phasma?”
“That’s more than enough, Kylo. But maybe we’ll make it three, for a while. Unless we try to kill each other. Now, wouldn’t you like to take a bath, and shave, and brush your teeth? You stink of self-pity and Huttese whiskey.”
***
Kylo Ren's face, behind his mask, was incredulous.
“I’m not following you, Solo. What the fark are you talking about?"
He really wanted a drink.
But he had the mask on.
“Look, Ren, you’re kidding yourself if you think Her Generalship is done with you. And if you think Snoke is going to continue to let me live? It ain’t gonna be money, money, money, and business as usual, forever. She’s going to push from one end and he’s going to push from the other. And eventually? We're going to be in a tight spot where Leia sends me to get you, and Snoke orders you to get me. So we have to make a plan for it.”
Kylo Ren called to the barmaid.
“Bring me a pitcher of Corellian Ale, a bottle of Huttese whiskey, a packet of cigarillos and a double serving of tonight’s special. And whatever Captain Solo wants.”
In the dark, smoky cantina, Kylo Ren took off his mask, and gloves.
In the three years they had been in business, he had never done that.
Ben had a black eye, and a full beard under it, and his hair fell to his shoulders.
Two of the fingers he ran through his hair were taped together, and all of his knuckles were black and blue.
Even in the dark, Han could see that the kid wasn’t at his best.
But that wasn’t all he could see.
“I know. I need a shave, and a haircut, and I look like hell. You were in the Infantry. You know what the Imperial Dirty Work is like. That, and Kiera left me. They always leave me. Where the fuck are my drinks?"
“Everybody is so full of shit! You don’t look like Vader, you look like me!” Han said, proudly.
"Great."
"Don't worry about that girl, kid. You get too serious about these women who are just in it to take what they can get from you. Let it go. She just wasn't the right one for you."
"Who is?"
"You'll know when you meet her. The Thunderbolt will come and knock you right on your ass."
The food and drinks came, and Kylo hid his face from the barmaid.
“How about a cold pack? He’s hiding his face because it looks like it’s been through a machine.” Han asked the barmaid.
“Yeah. I think I look like both of you. You, and my grandfather.” Ben said, after she left.
Kylo drank half off the picture of beer. He also tossed back the slick, viscous, oily Huttese whiskey, right from the bottle. Then, holding the cold pack against his injured eye with one hand, he started shoveling his food into his mouth with the other.
Han was going to ask him if he always drank like that, but it was obvious that the kid was tired, he was in pain, and he probably dragged himself out of bed just to come to the meeting.
“So what’s your plan, Solo?”
“Well, Kylo Skywalker had to come from somewhere, right? Back on Arkanis, he has to have a father. With a name. And papers. And a story. And who could a guy like Kylo Skywalker, AKA Kylo Ren trust to watch his back other than his own father?" Han said.
“You want to join the First Order?"
"No. I want to join my son, and make sure he doesn't die in battle, get assassinated, or drink himself to death."
There was a commotion at the door, and a tall blonde woman in an Imperial uniform pushed her way over to the table.
“What are you doing in this dive, Kylo?”
“Meeting my business partner, Captain.”
“Business partner!”
Phasma looked from one man to the other.
“Business partner! You are so full of religious nerfshit! That’s your father, isn’t it? Don't lie to me, Kylo. It's VERY obvious. Are you trying to impress him? He doesn’t look impressed! He looks worried and sad! Why are you always such a child?” Phasma insisted.
“Don’t talk to me like that, in public, in front of Solo!”
“Solo! What kind of a way is that to talk about your father? If I had treated my father with that kind of disrespect, I would not have lived long enough to learn enough from him to give him a warrior’s death! I didn’t know this meeting was with your own damn father! He would have waited, until you were in presentable shape!"
“Phasma, don't lecture me. I’ll leave with you when we’re done talking! Business doesn't wait until you're at your best."
"In your case, Kylo, that would be never."
Han averted the next phase of what he figured would be a long argument.
“Hold up, Vader Junior. How bad is he, sister?”
“My Lord Ren is supposed to be in bed.”
“I thought so. Well kid, think about it. Next month, we'll iron the whole thing out. Figure out when Han Solo disappears and Papa Kylo turns up.”
Ben pushed the bottle of whiskey across the table.
Han took a drink from it.
Kylo turned to Captain Phasma.
“Sit down. You came for this, Phasma, now you’re in it. But I’m warning you. Don’t try to cross me. Or Solo.”
“Or you'll kill me? You couldn’t.”
“No, but I could, sister. You want me to kill her, now, kid?” Han asked.
Casually.
“That won’t be necessary. Yet.”
“I wouldn’t cross you, Kylo. I can’t cross your son, General Solo. I owe him the debt of my life and my honor.”
“Oh. I see. And that’s all, huh? OK. I’ll play along. So, you get it, Ren?”
“So far. But then what?” Kylo Ren asked.
“Well, you and Captain Blondie have to keep up appearances and back my new identity until the war is over. It won’t be a farkling picnic for me. But it’ll keep the business going, and it’ll keep me alive. I know you don’t think you’d ever feel guilty about killing me, but trust me, Junior. Once I’m dead? You’ll miss me.”
Kylo finished his picture of beer and banged it on the table.
“You were a terrible father, Solo.”
“You hear that, Captain Blondie? I’m a rotten father. I left his mother. I’m in business with him. I meet up with him, in that mask. I never see his face. He calls me Solo. Every time I see him, I risk my life. His mother won’t see him. His uncle abandoned him. They won’t come near him, because of their fucking precious religion. Not now he’s embraced his inner Vader. But I don’t care. He’s my son. Whatever he does, whoever he is? He’s my son. And I’m with him. That’s right, you spoiled farkling brat! I’m a rotten father.”
"Okay, so you're not as bad as you used to be. But I'm worse than ever. Worse every day. Let's face it, Solo. Nobody in this farkling Galaxy gives a damn about me."
“I do. Why the hell do you think I don’t wanna die? Somebody in this family has to know what the fark is going on. You got some brains, alright, kid, but your mother and your Uncle Luke? Their heads are are full of Jedi nerfshit, and they don't know what the fark is going on."
Kylo Ren raised his pitcher.
"I'll drink to that, Solo." He said.

"THE RISE OF SKYWALKER" as I would have liked it to be (fanfic)
I saw "the rise of the skywalker" at the cinema and I didn't like it. In addition to the criticisms that everyone made and which I fully agree with, I believe that it is not only a "betrayal" of the previous film, but precisely of the sense of the great moral strength of the original saga. I thought that even I, who am a man with no talent for writing, could have done better and I decided to do it. The following is a similar script that contains the main dialogues that for me had to be present to conclude the saga and explain to the public what there was to understand. The action scenes are not described, if not a generic "battle in the space" and the comic scenes (which are an essential part of the complete films) are completely absent, I leave the reader the space to imagine them. Finally, I ask you for clemency considering that everything was done in a few hours. If you think it would have been better than what the film actually is (because that's what it is, let's make a reason for it), give it a thumbs up.
warning, this is a google translation from itaian original.
titles that flow
3 years have passed since KYLO REN became the supreme leader of the first order, meanwhile the resistance, thanks to POE DAMERON, has reorganized, finding new allies and more modern means. Thanks to this, the resistance managed to get some victories.
Unfortunately LEIA ORGANA's health has deteriorated, and now it seems that she has little to live on. For this reason, all the main exponents of the resistance rushed to his bedside, even REY, who interrupted his JEDI studies just to run to the princess
SCENE 1
everyone is at the bedside of Leia, who appears very weak, when Rey also arrives, so the princess asks to speak only with her.
rey: Leia, how are you? you're making us all worried!
leia: I feel that the forces are abandoning me, my body and my heart have gone too far, that's why I made you come, there is one last thing I feel I have to do.
rey: is it about Ben?
leia: yes, even if we have never fully dealt with the subject, I feel that something has happened between you two, something that goes beyond fighting against the first order; as a mother I wish I could at least understand ...
rey: he ... killed Snoke to save me and then asked me to reign over the galaxy together and I ... (looks down) I was tempted to accept. Even today I continue to think about this offer and see myself on that throne next to him ...
leia: I had imagined something like this, Ben has always been a kindhearted child, but he has always had difficulty managing his emotions and externalizing his feelings; as a mother I ask you to try to understand and forgive him in spite of everything, I am sure that if she did these things it is because she really loves you. After my father he too seems to be the victim of a curse, but you have a strong heart, promise me that you will try to break it ...
rey: (sketching a smile) okay, if you ask ...
leia: thank you my dear, I know that Ben has understood that you love him too…. (with less and less voice) now I have done all I had to, I can also rest in peace.
Leia dies, the others come too and everyone is sad and downcast. Phrases of circumstance.
SCENE 2
change shot, the coffin is loaded on the Millennium Falcon while Chewbecca, C-3PO and R2-D2 also rise, with rey talking to Chewbe, Rey and the others are on the ground.
roses: where will they take it?
finn: on Naboo, where there is also the tomb of Han solo.
rey: Chewbe ...
chewbecca: (makes his verse)
rey: maybe you're right, this is our war and it is right that our generation will fight it, but i will miss you. I hope one day we can all meet again.
the Falcon leaves and Rey sadly returns to a building alone. Here he realizes that a connection in force with Kylo is about to begin. On the edges there are also r2-d2 and c-3po who will remain on Naboo as guardians of the tombs of their masters, since they are not heirs of Han and Leia still alive.
kylo: (contemptuously) oh, after all this time, you finally deigned to grant me your presence.
rey: (sad) Ben! I must tell you that your mother ... is no longer among us ...
kylo: I know, I felt it in the force.
rey: (angry) why ?? why you have to be like this, she was your mother, a wonderful woman and it seems that you don't care!
kylo: here is little orphan Rey looking for parents who makes me moral! you don't know anything and you want to give lessons to everyone !!
Rey takes a look between the injured and the angry, but the connection ends. Meanwhile, Poe and Finn arrive and tell her to prepare, because they have to go to a planet to meet a spy in the first order.
A droid enters Kylo's room
droid: supreme leader, the meeting is about to begin, the general staff is already present
kylo: the meeting is canceled, now go away, i want to be alone until tomorrow.
SCENE 3
When they arrive, however, they are attacked by an assassin and go in pursuit. However, this is a trap and it turns out that Rey is the target, suspected of being Palpatine's granddaughter and that she may therefore be "enlisted" by the followers of the old empire. Arrived at their refuge, the bandits capture Rose and FInn
bandito1: the game is over! surrender and give us the girl.
finn: Rey! you don't have to give yourself up, we can't allow the first order to win!
bandito2: you don't know what you're saying, we'll take down the first order!
rose: (surprise) but we are the resistance! if you are against the first order you are on our side!
bandito2: on your maybe, certainly not on the side of the jedi girl.
finn: are you kidding? she is our best ally!
bandito2: that's why I say you don't know what you're talking about! our sources have clearly indicated that among the nostalgics of the old empire they have identified the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine in an abandoned girl on Jakku. They want to make her the new leader, not only by recruiting a good part of the first-order army, but also by many who have not yet lined up.
rose: it is not possible, even if she was really Palpatine's granddaughter, she would never accept being the puppet of the empire! you don't know it!
bandit1: and you don't understand how dangerous this thing is. We will not allow this risk to be realized!
In the end, however, Rey and Poe manage to defeat them and put them on the run, even if the angry version of Rey makes the bandits exclaim that he is the worthy heir of Palpatine.
poe: I can't believe it, but are you really Palpatine's granddaughter? this would explain your predisposition to force!
rey: No !! I'm just Rey and not somebody's granddaughter.
poe: but ...
rey: that's enough, I don't want to talk about it anymore !!
poe: ok…. but…
rey: then !!!
finn and rose: come on Poe, stop it here!
SCENE 4
Back at the meeting place, they stop at an inn, where Finn, Poe, Rose and Rey sit at a table and start talking while waiting.
poe: I still can't believe ...
rey: Poe !!
poe: ... that Leia is dead! (the other 3 nod) I knew her since I was little, for me she and Han were invincible heroes and instead look what a sad fate they had !! and all because of Kylo Ren. First he killed her son, then her husband! and then she died of pain too; at least he will be able to rest next to Han, his son never found his body.
finn: but how, you don't know? Kylo Ren is the son of Han and Leia.
poe: what ????? Ben's wimp is Kylo Ren? .... at the same time I am surprised and not surprised. I mean, he was the guy who stands alone in a corner and never speaks to you, but at the same time he was making a lot of trouble when he got angry. Now that I think about it, he actually blew things around him by force, in desperation his parents had to send him to his uncle Luke. Who expected it to become so powerful if I think about how hard it was when he tortured me !! what did he do to you, Rey ?
rey: (sadly) did nothing to me.
finn: what if he caught you and questioned you? that is a ruthless man, we have seen what he is capable of !!
rey: (with more determination, but always sad) no, he didn't hurt me during the interrogation, indeed he never tried to really hurt me.
poe: (absorbed in his thoughts) killed his father !! and he probably tried to kill her too, I believe that Leia died of pain !! That's a monster capable only of bringing ruin ...
rey: no, he ...
SCENE 5
rey realizes that a connection in the force is about to begin, so he gets up in a hurry and runs away to the back (closet?) of the place.
finn: Poe, look what you've done!
poe: but I ...
finn: Rey wait !!
rose: stop! let me talk to you, you two have already done enough damage
meanwhile, hidden from prying eyes, the connection between Rey and Kylo has begun.
kylo: what a surprise, after only a month you speak to me! and this time it was you who called me ...
rey: it was certainly not the result of my will
kylo: Snoke is dead and I didn't try to contact you ..
rey: (smiling) so in the past you've been looking for me
kylo: (embarrassed) certainly not to offer you to be by my side again. But you still haven't told me why you activated the connection.
rey: I repeat that I didn't do it on purpose, perhaps discovering that even as a child you was not well seen by others, although in those days you had a heart for good, it connected us again.
kylo: I was just pathetic and weak back then. Thanks to the dark side I now have the strength I need.
rey: yet there is still some good in you, even if you do everything to make me forget it.
kylo: The mistake you made showing me mercy won't make me falter, I know you don't care about me, just your rebellion. Well, I will destroy you and let you contemplate your defeat !!
rey: how can you say this Ben! all that we have gone through, all our feelings, I know that you also perceived them in the force! why don't you go back to the light side!
kylo: never! only on the dark side will I be able to fulfill my destiny, the galaxy needs order and only a strong leader can guarantee it. Giving to feelings has brought me only misery, the next time we meet we will be enemies, be prepared.
rey: (angry) I already beat you and I will do it again, I was just a fool trying to forgive you.
the connection ends, and Rey starts crying desperately. Rose enters the room and the girls embrace each other.
rose: Rey, I'm sorry, I ...
rey: Rose!
rose: I saw you talking alone to the wall. You were talking to Kylo Ren, weren't you? (Rey nods) do you love him?
rey: i don't know, all i feel now is my broken heart
rose: but I've seen you make the most beautiful smile of these three years. Come on, let's go back to the table.
Rose and Rey return to the table where Finn and Poe are waiting for them worried.
rey: well, i ...
poe: Rey, sorry, we said too much
finn: yes, sorry, we didn't want to sadden you
rose: ok, let's end it here, let's not forget that we came with a purpose.
rey: (angry) in fact, we have to defeat the first order !!
Finn looks at Rose with a questioning look, and she nods to him that there is no need to investigate
poe: right! indeed the spy should be here by now, his identity will be a surprise.
a hooded man approaches the table and when he takes off his hood he turns out to be Hux.
rey, finn and rose: You !!!
finn: why, you are the supreme general!
hux: why I can't stand Ren being the supreme leader! I prefer everything to go down the drain than to submit to him.
poe: whatever his reason for us is a unique opportunity to defeat the first order.
hux: right. But let's not stay here, let's go to a more secluded place.
leaving the room they find soldiers with weapons in hand ready to arrest them
poe: what does this mean?
finn: I knew it couldn't be trusted!
hux: for these years I have been your spy and I have also provided you with modern means, but now things have changed.
rose: what do you mean?
hux: it is very simple, we have discovered that there is a descendant of the emperor Palpatine still alive, thanks to her all the old guard will rise against Ren, I will be able to see his ruin and remain in my place. You don't need me anymore, I just have to eliminate uncomfortable witnesses. Goodbye!
poe: it's Rey! Rey is the one you are looking for. she is Palpatine's granddaughter.
hux appears surprised, but seems to believe in poe.
hux: if it really is, it means that we are still allies, but only if the girl accepts her role
rey: never! I will never associate with anyone who wants to restore the empire !!
hux: don't be in a hurry, if you really want to bring down Ren you don't have much choice, there are whole cruisers ready to die for you, just for who you are. When you have made a decision, in the meantime our little collaboration will continue.
Hux and his men board a ship. Left on the ground, the four confront each other with different feelings.
rey: Poe, how could you!
poe: but we are alive! that's what counts!
finn: are we allied with Hux ?? it's a nightmare!
poe: but think about how many resources and what advantage we can have!
rose: i feel bad
poe: this is our chance to destroy the first order from the inside !!
on the ship Hux and his crew seem satisfied
officer1: we fell for it! they really believe that Jakku's waste hunter is the emperor's grandson!
hux: in fact, leaking the news first to the bandits was an excellent idea. Now at least a third of the troops will turn against Ren and at the same time the alliance will cause him many troubles. When they are all exhausted we will intervene and the whole galaxy will be ours!
SCENE 7
meeting of the general staff, an important rebel base was identified.
hux: then we will deploy four cruisers, but I also suggest a hunting fleet, to intercept any fugitives.
kylo: well, I expect an overwhelming victory. We proceed.
the first order fleet arrives and starts bombing the planet. Meanwhile Kylo feels that Rey is there, takes his shuttle and goes down to face it. As the battle rages on, the duel between Kylo and Rey also begins. Although their strength equals, Kylo eventually disarms and lands her. Instead of giving her the coup de grace, she stops and lowers his sword
rey: do you call this order? I only see violence and destruction
kylo: this is only the consequence of the disorder brought about by your useless rebellion, sacrifices must be made!
rey: then come on, sacrifice me too to your thirst for power, sacrifice the whole galaxy.
Finn and Rose also arrive, trying to save Rey by shooting at Kylo, but as he did with Poe, he manages to block the laser and the two assailants.
kylo: Rey, I never lied to you and I never really wanted to kill you. I won't even do it today, take my vehicle and your friends if you want and leave, forget about this war, if you are not ready to make sacrifices.
rey: i'm ready to sacrifice myself.
kylo: I also had to sacrifice something, my humanity
rey looks painfully at kylo
kylo: that's why I'm letting you go. With my vehicle nobody will dare to stop you.
rey, finn and rose start, but rey first says one last thing to kylo
rey: Ben, at least I want you to know that I was really tempted to accept your proposal that time, just because I know there is still some good in you.
that said, they leave while Kylo rejoins the troops. Meanwhile Poe decides to call Hux.
Poe: then we agree. Tell everyone that the girl accepted the inheritance of her grandfather Palpatine.
Hux in his room smiles.
SCENE 8
the news of Palpatine's heir had its effect, many were the defections of the old admirals, which also joined some local troops, while resistance seems to have intensified. The first order has suffered big losses, but it is reorganizing itself and launching a counterattack. In the Kylo war room, Hux and the other officers are preparing the decisive battle in the solar system of Naboo. The plan includes a battle between space cruisers and a battle on the ground for control of the planet. After the meeting everyone returns to their rooms, first we follow Hux, who has a secret meeting with his loyalists and ren's knights.
hux: everything is going according to plan, the final battle will be on Naboo, when we are at the end of our strength we will also intervene and finally we will triumph our ideal. Kylo and the girl, however, you will have to eliminate them, knights of ren, and thus carry out your revenge.
officer1: and what about resistance?
hux: we will also need them to balance the forces on the field, but we must provide them with new means; where can we meet them?
official2: Jakku is a loyal planet and far enough away, we can fix it there.
hux: perfect, prepare everything.
the scene moves to Kylo's room where Luke appears as a ghost of strength.
kylo: it looks like i can't get rid of you, even after your death.
luke: Ben, I warned you that if I hit me I would always be with you. I'm here to warn you; the path you have taken will not bring you anything good and you know it too, otherwise why would you have let Rey go, with a meaningless excuse?
kylo: killing her would only make way for unnecessary feelings that a leader cannot have to hold the galaxy together, as when I killed Han Solo.
luke: at least you're admitting that you have feelings for her. Don't make the same mistake as your grandfather, believe in who believes in you!
kylo: (snorts) the only thing that interests her are her friends and her resistance, I was just a means of getting rid of Snoke. it was only because of the little Ben Solo that was left in me that he was able to achieve his goal, but now even that small part of me has gone with her.
luke: amazing, once again everything you said is wrong! it is precisely because that part of you that you think has disappeared becomes stronger every day that I can be here in front of you. and if you look clearly in strength, you will also know that for Rey you are as important as she is for you.
luke vanishes and kylo remains alone and thoughtful
SCENE 9
Poe, Finn and Rose (and others of the resistance) meet on Jakku
poe: guys, how are you? and Rey?
rose: we are fine, but Rey is quite down, being defeated by Kylo Ren was a serious blow and the fact that you made her famous as a Palpatine made her anything but pleasure.
finn: I still managed to contact her during her training and she said she will come.
meanwhile they walk through the village where Rey worked, it seems bigger and with more life. Rey is coming.
rey: Poe, how could you !!
poe: you're right, but I won't apologize. The situation was desperate and thanks to my decision the first order is now faltering.
rey: you don't understand, I'm not Palpatine's granddaughter !!!
poe: how can you say that? a hidden girl on Jakku, sensitive to force, is practically your description.
rey: I repeat to you that it's impossible!
poe: even if it were, the description fits perfectly and thanks to this we have broken the power of Kilo Ren.
rose: Rey, why are you so sure you're not Palpatine's granddaughter?
rey: (ashamed) because ... because ... because my parents were the bad guys who sold me for buying a drink.
everyone is surprised and embarrassed
finn: Rey, how did the training go?
rey: honestly, badly. It seems that no matter how much effort it takes, I have less and less strength ..
poe: and this is where I enter the scene! don't worry about your loss of shape, today they will give us new means by which we can finally destroy Ren and his kingdom !!
in the meantime some people are approaching, including the old woman seen in the foece awakening that worked with Rey.
man1: Rey, it's you then! I didn't think I would see you again!
rey: man1, how nice to see you again !, Old woman! but how are you?
old: since you left things have changed a lot and for the better
rey: what happened?
man1: the supreme leader Kylo Ren !!
old woman: yes, one day he came here with his troops and freed us. Now we no longer work for the minimum food ration in order not to die, but we receive a fair compensation. As you can see we have money and we can afford to live in real houses by putting something aside.
man1: here we are all loyal to the supreme leader. some even enlisted to fight alongside him. what are you doing here?
rey: (visibly confused) well, I have deals I have to attend to.
after greeting the old acquaintances, he heads out of the country to meet Hux for the delivery of new fighters. After the resistance took possession of the new means, while they are heading towards Naboo, Rey decides to deviate the route and go to Ahch-too.
SCENE 10
Rey gets out of Kylo's vehicle and heads determinedly towards the dark side area.
luke: Rey, you won't find any answer there!
rey: master Luke! how can you still be here?
luke: I became a ghost of force, because I still had something to teach you.
rey: master Luke, I'm confused, I don't know what is right anymore! I thought I could stop Ben, to bring justice back to the galaxy, that he only wanted to crush the population !!
luke: and why are you confused now?
rey: he came to Jakku and really freed everyone who was in my same situation. If I think about how much we waited for someone to make such a noble gesture! and instead now in the resistance we speak only of destruction ... I thought I could distinguish between right and wrong, but now I don't know anymore !!
luke: Rey, every generation has to face their choices and understand where the right and the wrong are. Open your heart to the force and you will find the answers.
rey: now i just feel that my heart is broken, master luke, help me.
luke: maybe knowing my family history will help you. As you know my father was Dart Vader, but his real name was Anakin Skywalker and together with his mother he was a slave boy with no future on Tatoonie, despite the fact that the republic still existed at that time.
rey: I didn't know this was his origin, I feel I have a lot in common with him, this thing scares me a little ...
luke: not many know these details, we often like to idealize the past and see only what we want. One day, however, a very particular group of people arrived who had broken the course, They were a young girl with her escort who also included Jedi, since that girl was the queen of Naboo and was also my mother, Padme Amidala. Incidentally they came into contact with my father and realized that his predisposition to the force was exceptional and then redeemed him to make him a jedi, convinced that he was the boy announced by an old prophecy according to which he would restore balance in the force. However at the end of his training, when he was already an adult, he met my mother again and they fell in love. But a jedi cannot bind to an exclusive love, moreover she had become a senator and she feared that the scandal would overwhelm not only her life , but also his work and therefore decided to marry in secret. I think this was the beginning of my father's descent to the dark side.
rey: do you mean that those who undertake the ways of the force must forget their affections? what are we fighting for then?
luke: it was the vanity in wanting to keep up appearances, the greed of not facing the consequences of one's choices that placed malice in their hearts. from here the tragedy began. If they had acted in the open, they certainly would have had to give up the life they had known until then, but they could have started a new one, in the light of the sun. Instead, due to the constant fear of losing everything, my father let himself be seduced by the dark side, became a sith in the service of Chancellor Palpatine and together they destroyed the Jedi and established the regime of the empire. My mother was unable to follow him on this path and so, after giving birth to my sister and me, she died from the pain of having lost the love of her life.
rey: it's a very sad story, I feel that it touches me deeply, I see so much of the relationship between Ben and me. But how did you manage to defeat your father and the emperor?
luke: (laughing) but I didn't defeat the emperor, it was my father!
rey: how ?? but wasn't he a disciple of his? I knew that you had faced and defeated them to destroy the empire.
luke: it was true that I was part of the resistance and that I had already clashed with Vader, but when I finally found out that he was my father, I understood why I always felt uncomfortable dealing with him: he was still good in him and I could no longer ignore him . So I left the political struggle aside and decided that I wanted to bring my father back into the light. Once in his presence, however, there was also the emperor, who manipulating our feelings pushed us to fight in order to bring me to the dark side; It was in the heat of battle that I realized that from violence I would get nothing, so I threw my sword. The emperor took advantage of the thing to attack me and this moved my father, who understood that the love he felt for me, his son, exceeded all the life he had spent in the dark side and killed him the emperor, dying he too shortly thereafter.
Rey looks thoughtful for a while, then shows a serene look.
rey: thanks master Luke, now i know what i have to do. And sorry, but I can't be a jedi ...
luke: Rey, may the force be with you!
rey leaves
SCENE 10
the main scene is the battle between loyalist and separatist cruisers, with an uncertain outcome, and battles on the ground around the royal palace can also be seen. Kylo Ren is located there. Rey arrives and manages to land as a member of the resistance in the separatist controlled area. At this point Hux reveals his cards and attacks both factions by bringing them to their knees. In particular, with two knights of Ren assaults Rey and nostalgic officers (separatists).
SCENE 11
separatista1: Hux, what does this mean?
hux: (laughing satisfied) that you all fell into my trap. But did you really believe that the emperor could have had a child he cared about? and that a waste rummage was his granddaughter? nostalgic fools blinded by pride like my father. And you will end it.
rey: it won't go as you think, Ben and I will stop you.
hux: I don't know who this Ben is, but you're going to have a bad end. Knights of Ren fix them all !!
rey fights against the two riders of ren and manages to defeat them, at this point he also captures Hux.
separatista1: will you kill us now?
rey: why should i?
separatista2: because we have been defeated.
rey: I don't kill anyone for such a reason, consider yourself defeated and under arrest though.
separatista1: certainly, there is still a minimum of honor left in us.
rey: perfect, and keep hux in custody too.
hux: what do you think you can do now? Kylo will be dead too, you have defeated two of the knights, but the rest have gone to look after him.
Rey then takes a vehicle and leaves for kylo.
SCENE 12
Kylo fights against Ren's knights and defeats them, but is injured
SCENE 13
Kylo is sitting on a staircase when Rey arrives with the activated sword.
kylo: in the end they sent you to kill me? apparently I can't escape this fate.
rey: you're wrong, i didn't come to take your life, but the opposite. (turns off the sword and throws it away). I finally made it clear in my heart: I love you and I know that you love me too, and I don't want to live a day away from you anymore. But at the same time I cannot follow you on the path of the dark side, so I beg you, go back to the light side and I will stay with you whatever life you decide to do; it doesn't matter that you want to be the new emperor, a smuggler like your father was, a farmer like your uncle and a scavenger like I have been doing all my life, as long as I can be with you it will be the best life I can have.
kylo: (visibly shaken) it is too late for me now, I have committed too many crimes, I have killed my own father and my mother and my uncle are also dead because of me.
rey: you have a whole life to remedy the evil you have done and I will always be by your side. I always knew everything you did as Kylo Ren, but I fell in love with you anyway.
kylo: are you sure what you want? I never thought that Ben Solo could deserve to be loved.
rey: Kylo Ren is just the mask you hid behind all this time, I know, I could know your heart, it's Ben's!
kylo: and your resistance friends? what do you call your family? I don't think they'll ever accept me, are you ready to say goodbye to them?
rey: they will always have a special place in my heart, but i can go on living even if they decide not to want to see me anymore, if i lose you i know i would end up like your grandmother. I would simply stop living.
kylo: I've already made you plead too much, the truth is that I can't tell you no whatever request you make. The same things you said are true for me too, in these three years it has seemed to me that I am no longer alive, I regretted every single day that I did not do more to convince you to grab my hand in the Snoke tron room. But…
meanwhile Rey has approached Kylo and, smiling, puts her hand on his face
rey: but?
kylo: I feel I don't deserve all this, to be loved, to be happy.
rey: i know we both deserve it
Rey approaches his mouth and they kiss
kylo: I'm afraid we won't be able to enjoy it for long, unless you find a doctor ...
SCENE 14
Kylo continues to lose blood, Rey takes him to the royal palace in search of treatment. They find C3PO which recognizes Rey and Ben as the son of Leia and Han and consequently as the last real descendant of Naboo, and so the staff takes courage and takes care of Ben. Meanwhile, the last remaining force on the field is the resistance that is determined to kill Kylo Ren. The rebels surround the royal palace and put it under siege
SCENE 15
Poe orders the few guards to turn Kylo Ren over to him, but gets refused, so they prepare for the siege. When the fight is about to begin Rey arrives.
poe: Rey, how nice to see you! did you defeat Kylo Ren? we won?
rey: no. Ben is fine and I'm not here to fight him. (to everyone) The battle is over, there is no reason to fight anymore, please go away.
poe: what do you mean? all the other armies are gone, this is our chance to kill Kylo and free the galaxy.
Rey retrieves his sword with force and ignites it.
rey: I'm not going to let anyone hurt Ben.
everyone is flabbergasted, especially finn, while Rose seems almost happy.
finn: Rey, what does that mean? Did Kylo Ren do anything to you ??
rey: i'm acting of my will, friends, please, there is no more reason to fight.
finn: but why, how come you defend Kylo Ren ??
rey: (hesitates for a moment) because I love him!
poe: I can't believe it, you have betrayed our ideals for a couple of beautiful eyes !! leave us no choice but the clash !!
finn: Poe, wait! Rey is a friend of ours, we have to give her credit.
poe: you too? but what's wrong with you all? if we don't kill him now we will regret it in the future !!
rose: but if we act in this way, how will we be better than the first order?
the rest of the rebels appear confused, some are on the side of Poe, others on the side of Finn
finn: I'm tired of fighting, if Rey says there is a hope of bringing peace back, I believe her.
rose: and me too!
rey: guys, thanks!
poe: I can't believe my ears !! Rey who passes on to the enemy for a crush, you who give her credit because you are tired !! but have you forgotten about our dead comrades? that he established a dictatorial regime? I can't give up now !!
walking with difficulty Ben also arrives.
ben: what is this noise, sweethart?
Poe acts instinctively and shoots Ben, but Rey blocks the laser with his sword.
rey: Ben, come on, lean on me
Ben puts his arm around Rey's shoulders, the two look at each other and smile.
rose: you see? we must fight to protect what we love and not to destroy what we hate! Rey is our friend, let's trust her!
poe: Rey, how long have you been cheating on us? I can't believe I didn't notice anything !!
Ben gestures Poe's rifle away.
ben: measure words, you're talking to your empress! (addressing everyone) the war is over, my men are coming. But do not fear, no harm will be done to you, you are free; indeed from now on we will build a new galaxy together.
among the rebels, the reactions are varied, there are those who seem happy, those who are sad. Poe leaves evidently angry immediately, while Finn and Rose embrace each other enthusiastically.
SCENE 16
Finn and Rose visit Rey, they are in a very beautiful room and she is dressed in precious clothes, there is a mannequin with Padme's wedding dress, it is what Rey will also use for her wedding with Kylo. After some general chat they start talking about their new life.
rose: if I think about how we were a few months ago! especially you Rey, you are about to become our empress !!
rey: don't tell me about it, i'm terrified! already so I am overwhelmed by commitments, I dare not imagine what to expect.
finn: it's the same for us too. Reconstitute the senate and work with all those people who have ideas often opposed to ours, it's a nightmare believe me !! I don't know how Ben does it.
finn: by the way, but how did this Skywalker dynasty come to mind?
rey: well, he's always been particularly proud of his origins, so he came up with this embarrassing idea. Among the others.
rose: that is? tell us tell us, what else is embarrassing?
rey: it's actually just sweet and does everything to spoil me, it's just that I'm not used to it at all. But let's talk about you too, is it really so hard to deal with people of the first order?
roses: a little bit, but at least they are all interested in doing the good of the galaxy, even if someone would have preferred to roast it with a laser! But perhaps this time, by putting all the issues together we can build a better future than we would have expected.
rey: but how are things going between you in the private sector?
finn and rose: (embarrassed) well…. but we don't always talk about us !!
rey chuckles.
rey: uh, have you had contact with Poe?
finn: (seriously) well, to tell the truth it's not that he took all this history of the empire well, but at least he found something to do ... the smuggler. You know he always admired Han.
rey: I'm glad you still feel, and let him know that the door here is always open, but the part of the smuggler ... maybe it's better that I pretend I haven't heard, given the role I'm about to play.
rose: ok, now just chat, FInn go out that Rey has to prepare for the ceremony, now there are few hours left.
the ceremony is held on the same staircase as the other scene, the officiant is halfway up. Ben and Rey arrive and say yes and then kiss.
Then they start to climb again and two thrones-like chairs have been placed at the top of the staircase and the two spouses are announced to the people as Emperor Ben Solo and Empress Rey Solo of the Skywalker dynasty. The celebrations start and at the end we see the silhouettes of Ben and Rey kissing again.

Falling Inn Love (2019) dir. Roger Kumble
summary:
When city girl Gabriela spontaneously enters a contest and wins a rustic New Zealand inn, she teams up with bighearted contractor Jake Taylor to fix and flip it.
1.5 stars
Spoilers, duh, but you can enjoy this movie even if you know exactly what’s going to happen next, just like how everyone who watched it for the first time did. In fact, you don’t even have to read this review to guess what happens in this film. Without reading spoilers beforehand, you could probably guess 90% of the unremarkable plot points in this predictable and bland rom-com.
My biggest general problem with Falling Inn Love is that every single character has absolutely no personality. On top of that, each aspect of their personality (or lack thereof) is pretty much only included for the sake of furthering the plot. I’m pretty sure if you took away the characters’ main defining features, you would have the amount of fucks the writers put into developing their characters. They’re just not appealing, relatable, or interesting.
For example, the main character herself. Gabriela’s entire backstory is that she broke up with her boyfriend Dean. That’s literally all we get. You could not ask me to describe what I think Gabriela’s views on orgies, communism, or vegans look like. I should be familiar enough with the character to answer at least one of those. If I had to, I’d say she appreciates vegans, but that’s only because her entire personality is green housing and renovations and clean solar power and energy efficiency. You could not tell me if she planned to secretly run away from home as a child, but at least I know she brings her iPad to dinner with her boyfriend to show him her closet renovation ideas. This is a biiiig example of characters only being the way they are in order to further the plot, but also an example of the writers’ irregularity of bringing backstory into the story. Gabriela’s save-the-planet can-do attitude is only ever applied to the inn, when she decides to stay and renovate it into a clean energy facility. Not when she’s driving her clunky, CO2-emitting van all around town to places to which she could easily walk, which I’m sure is like the top biggest tip to saving the planet—to walk, bike, or take public transportation. Minus ½ star for hypocrisy.
The one thing I could tell you about Gabriela, besides that she sure does love her solar panels, is that she has an awful amount of Main Character syndrome, where she believes everything is about her and the entire world rotates around her. I’m fairly sure that wasn’t the writers’ intention, but they sure projected a ton of pride and self-esteem onto a pretty lackluster character, making her seem conceited. When Jake bumps into Gabriela at the hardware store, she says, “Why are you everywhere that I am?” Seems like she’s got a lot of confidence in her importance and relevance to Jake for someone who has no personality!!!!! It could just be a small town and Jake’s just minding his own business and knowing more about home renovation than Gabriela, which she finds annoying because she’s a strong, independent woman who takes no shit from men.
Charlotte is probably the world’s most pathetic villain. Her hobby is owning a hotel filled with porcelain dolls that belonged to her mother and the stink of old people breath. That’s all we know about her. Oh, and she really, really, really wants to buy the Bluebird from Gabriela because she’s an inn supremacist and believes only she can host an inn that restores the value of tradition and honesty to society. It’s so sad.
Jake has no personality. His backstory is that his girlfriend died 3 years ago and so he’s reluctant to love. That’s a new one. I wonder where the writers came up with that. He likes possum taxidermy because it reminds him of his grandmother. He likes to help out literally everywhere, for free, because he’s just such a nice guy. That’s all there is to him.
Even in Harry Potter, where you could clearly sort each member of the Golden Trio into a very obvious stereotype, you could still find more in-depth characterization beneath. Remove Hermione’s book-nerd, know-it-all personality. Underneath, she’s still a sassy, exasperated girl who cares for her friends and would choose them over anything. She’s flawed, and will act on her annoyance in rash, but calculated ways. Remove Ron’s comedic best friend, runt of the pack personality. Underneath, he’s loving and loyal, and is tired of simply being seen as the nobody. Finally, Harry himself, who beneath the Chosen One archetype, is snarky and witty and driven. Though fairly common and typical, there are multiple layers to these characters, which you just don’t get in Falling Inn Love. But Han, you say, that’s the appeal of a rom-com. You get to see how characters react to specific tropes. Fine, but I raise you this: pacing errors and plot convenience (woo alliteration!).
Similarly to the previous point, not only do the characters’ personalities seem to serve no purpose but to create a coherent plot, but in fact, almost everything that occurs in this movie seems to just happen out of thin air. There is literally no reason or motive behind any of the plot points, which is an indicator of a very weak story. It’s as if the writers had two plot points laid out— “Jake and Gabriela kiss” and “Gabriela decides to stay in New Zealand because she discovers she loves the Bluebird inn”— and halfassedly crammed in as many of the most contrasting tropes as they could find underneath a Wattpad novel from 2013 titled Falling for the Jock. Minus 1 star for plot convenience.
Gabriela’s boyfriend Dean is a douchebag. He is always on his phone during dates, cannot shut up about his job (Man, that sure does sound like someone else we know) and is always having his manager make decisions for the both of them. But Gabriela doesn’t break up with him beacuase he’s inattentive and ignorant. She breaks up with him because he doesn’t want to move in with her. Not wanting to move in with someone is a perfectly valid opinion to have, and Dean even gives a good reason: he’s happy with the things are now. And sure, you could break up with a partner if you felt strongly enough about things, but it would have to be a mutual understanding, an agreement that your lives were being hindered by this decision, or a realization that you both want different things. When Gabriela dumps Dean, it is entirely her end of the rope that is left hanging. It doesn’t feel like a satisfying ending to the first chapter. It feels forced, and that’s because they need Gabriela to apply for the Win an Inn scam. If Gabriela had dumped Dean because he didn’t put enough effort into the relationship, at least we would have felt happy for her, knowing that she deserved better. But because she dumped him because he didn’t want to move in with her and her eco-friendly dishwashers, we’re left thinking, Wow, that was pathetic.
There’s also a scene where Gabriela’s close (and only?? we’re not led to see any of her other friends, but then again, maybe she has none) friend tells her to give Dean an ultimatum—that’s what she did to get her boyfriend to propose to her. This is supposed to look like bad advice from an unqualified friend, since later the same friend tells Gabriela that she’s attending couple’s therapy with her fiancée, because apparently forcing your partner to either marry you or break up with you could lead to trouble in paradise. Who knew? Even though the movie makes it appear that ultimatums are not what to do in a strained relationship, that’s essentially what Gabriela does internally to Dean. Move in with me or we’re done. Minus ½ star for hypocrisy.
Falling Inn Love is supposed to be an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story. But the pacing of Gabriela and Jake’s relationship is so out of control that it doesn’t seem realistic at all whatsoever. They go from being at each others’ necks constantly, always exchanging cliche retorts, to smiling lovingly at the other in the span of two minutes. Once again, nothing happens to spur on this change. All of the sudden, they’re acting completely civil to on another and now there’s a romance out of nowhere. It’s not realistic or believable.
The climax of Falling Inn Love was probably my least favorite part about it. After Charlotte’s creepy doll hotel is burned down, she, Jake, Gabriela, and the contractor meet to discuss the selling of the Bluebird. And oh boy. After 90 whole-ass minutes of Gabriela claiming she wants to sell the inn, she suddenly gives a Dramatic and Raw speech about keeping ahold of what’s precious to you. Actually, I’m not completely sure if that was she was talking about because it wasn’t worth listening to the entire thing. It was only like 20 seconds, but it was just like every other speech where the main character drastically changes their mind for the better. It was just sad. And after her motivational speech? Charlotte, after 90 whole-ass minutes of trying to buy the Bluebird and get Gabriela to forfeit her inn through most likely illegal manners, nods admirationally and tells Gabriela, “You’re one of us now.” Like, what even happened there? What exactly happened to make Charlotte change her mind? Wouldn’t she want to buy the inn even more now that she doesn’t have one of her own? I know no one with such high demands who would back down that easily, at such a lame speech. For that, Charlotte is a weak antagonist, and lowers the rating by ½ a star, because shouldn’t you despise the antagonist? Shouldn’t you have a little crawling feeling in your stomach whenever they appear onscreen. For me, that was true, but only because she looks like Hannah Meloche and her sickly, whiny voice made me want to throw myself off a cliff.
About halfway through the movie, Charlotte texts Dean from Gabriela’s phone, telling him to bring her back to America if he really loves her. Firstly, why doesn’t Miss Badass have a passcode on her phone?? But when Dean finally arrives to New Zealand to take Gabriela back, there’s no mention of the text. There’s not even a simple “How did you know when the opening launch party was?” “Why are you here? I did not invite you,” on Gabriela’s end, and a “You asked me to take you back, that’s what I’m here to do,” on Dean’s end. It feels like we didn’t get closure on something that was really hyped up to create suspense.
Again, nothing happens to make Gabriela change her mind about keeping the inn. even when Jake is whining to her about being authentic and real and keeeping the Bluebird for the first 7/8ths of the movie, she is adamant in telling him off. And… then nothing happens. Nothing remarkable shifts in their relationship. Nothing remarkable shifts in Gabriela’s daily life. The only thing we can assume is that Jake’s whining has started to borderline on manipulation, and Gabriela feels pressured to keep the inn if she wants to keep Jake. This would be supported by the fact that Gabriela and Jake began to ignore each other when their initial discussion about selling the Bluebird came to blows. Minus 1 star for unsatisfying conclusion.
This movie apparently really wants its happy ending, since almost everything in it is forced to get there. But I don’t know if there’s really much that’s that great.
Overall, I don’t hate Falling Inn Love because I watched it with my best friend over a FaceTime call and we were having fun. But I’m pretty sure if I had watched it on my own I would have clicked out of the tab about thirty minutes in.

Fanfic Update - I Wanna Know What Love Is
Summary: Elsa had long ago made peace with the fact she would never find love. The idea of allowing someone to be that intimate with her had been so frightening for so long that she written off the whole thing completely. That is, until a stranger from a distance land throws her entire world upside down. M for swearing and smut in later chapters. F/F and Kristanna
Word Count: 8,221
Rating: M
Chapter 2 - ‘Formalities’ is up and I hope you enjoy :)
"That. Was. Awesome!" Anna exclaimed punching a fist into the air. "Do you think I could get her to teach me how to do that? Whenever I ask Kristoff to teach me to fight he just laughs at me, and the guards are all too afraid you'd freeze them or sack them if they help me."
Elsa, wasn't listening to her sister, she could only look on in stunned silence as she watched the foreign woman snap at the guards before stomping past without even a backwards glace. For some reason the Queen couldn't tear her gaze away as the woman approached a very expensive looking carriage. This proved the woman came from some form of wealth, a little surprising considering what Elsa had just witnessed.
The woman wrenched open the door with such ferocity, Elsa feared she might pull it off the hinges. The driver didn't even have time to get down off his seat before the strange woman and her companion had jumped inside, slamming the door, and barking something at the driver Elsa couldn't distinguish.
And just like that, she was gone. It had all happened so fast Elsa didn't know what to think. She had never seen someone move with such confidence before, let alone a female. This woman had taken down two fully-grown men, and with surprising ease. Elsa had needed the help of her exceptionally powerful magic and (although she loathed to admit it) Prince Hans, to do the same.
Just who was this mystery woman?
xxx
Nia hissed in pain and swore as she did her best to tighten the laces of her corset, but the swelling in her hand was making it very difficult to curl her fingers properly. Conan whined anxiously from his place at in front of the hearth at the sound of her discomfort.
It had been a full day since her encounter with those two brutes back at the public house and the stinging in her right hand had only gotten worse. Despite this however, Nia was in fairly good spirits. She had found a reasonably nice inn just on the outskirts of Arendelle. A family owned establishment, run by a mountain of a man with his wife and three children. Nia could have afforded to stay at one of the finer inns, but this was closest one to the trails that lead into the wilds and the only one that allowed Conan to sleep in her room.
By the time she had finally gotten dressed and arranged her wild curls, Nia was practically jumping out of her skin to get to the mountains and begin her research. However, there were a few formalities she would have to deal with first.
Grabbing her peacoat for the early morning chill and her notebook, Nia made her way to the main hall of the inn.
"Yoo hoo!" called a man standing behind the counter, giving Nia a little wave of his giant hand. "You need some breakfast, ja?"
Nia smiled at the owner, who still wore a brightly coloured sweater and knitted hat despite it being rather warm inside, and waved back.
"Thank you, Oaken, but I really should get going. I have a lot to do today and –"
His wife suddenly appeared with a plate of honey rolls and bacon. "Nonsense, dear. Eat. You're much too thin as it is," she said, tossing a large strip of bacon down to Conan, who snapped it eagerly out of the air.
Nia laughed. "Helga, you sound like my mother," she said picking up one of the mouth-watering rolls, taking a generous bite out of one and stuffing two more into the hidden pockets of her jacket.
"Then an intelligent woman she must be," Helga replied with a wink. "So what is it that has you hurrying about like the Devil himself is clawing at your heels?" she asked, picking up a nearby glass and cleaning it with the apron she wore around her slim waist.
"I'm planning on traveling into the northern foothills tomorrow to see if the rumors I've heard regarding your herds of reindeer are true and I need to find myself a sure-footed horse to get me there," Nia said around a mouthful of bacon. "But before I do any of that, I need to get permission from your Queen."

Elsa had to physically restrain from rolling her eyes at the two men bickering in front of her. She had been holding one of her bi-weekly Court sessions, and had been trapped attending to petitioners vying for her attention on one thing or another all morning. Currently, Elsa was listening to a simple dispute over wages between a farmer and his farmhand and they had been going on for almost an hour now. The farmhand claimed that he was not being sufficiently paid for the amount of work he was doing while the farmer argued they had long ago come to an agreement regarding payment. The farmer pointed out that the only reason the younger man wanted to be paid more was because he'd learned that one of his brothers had been earning more than he had, but the farmer could not afford an increase in wages.
Though the young Queen did her best to keep her attention focused on the petitioners, she couldn't help but let her mind wander the longer they went around and around in their argument. This day, she found her thoughts drifting back to the strange woman from the day before. Elsa couldn't say why, but the odd woman had been never been far from the Queen's mind since her return to the castle. Everything about her had been… curious. From the way she'd handled the two men who had assaulted her, to her accent, to the clothing she wore.
Who was she? Where had she come from? And most curious of all, what was her business in Arendelle?
So many questions and no answers, it was enough to make her head spin. Elsa had asked Kai if he knew of any visiting nobility, but he had assured her that none he knew of had docked in Arendelle recently. Only a few merchant vessels and one or two smaller ships.
The young Queen snapped to attention when she realized the two men had finally stopped talking and were now looking expectantly up at her. She hoped they had not noticed her brief mental lapse.
"I have heard enough," Elsa said, schooling her features into a mask of smooth neutrality, as her late father had taught her. She turned her attention to the farmer, "Do you have a written copy of your agreement regarding wages?"
The older man shook his head slowly. "No, Majesty. T'was a simple spoken agreement."
Elsa nodded. "Then there is no proof of what wages were agreed upon."
The young man grinned in triumph… but she was not finished.
"However, there are many young men looking for work and would be only too happy to accept the amount you are able to afford should this man decide he need the increase." She now turned to the farmhand who was no longer looking so victorious. "You must both come to an agreement over what is fair and have a written contract signed by the both of you as well as one other witness." When the younger man looked as though he were about to argue she held up her hand to silence him. "If you feel that you will not be able to come to a suitable agreement then come back and see me. We are always looking for more able-bodied men to help with the ice exports. Keep in mind that it is not easy work, but you would be well compensated."
In the end, the two men left looking appeased for now, if not overly thrilled about her decision.
She sighed and leaned back heavily on her throne, rubbing at her tired eyes while trying not to smudge her carefully applied eye makeup. After regaining her composure, she signaled Kai to retrieve the next (and hopefully last) petitioner. She had not at all expected what happened next.
"Ma'am! Ma'am, I am sorry, but I cannot allow that animal inside the castle! It will have to stay outside. Ma'am!" Came the sound of Kai's voice, followed by a set of purposeful footsteps.
"I have been waiting all bloody morning! And Conan stays with me. Always," another voice said firmly. "Oh, quit your fretting, man, he is better trained than most of the noble brats I've met."
"I beg your pardon! But –"
Kai wasn't able to finish his protest when the two – or rather three, including the canine – of them rounded the corner into the throne room.
Elsa stood, immediately recognizing the owner of the second voice as the woman from the market, although she looked a great deal different than she had the day previous. Today it seemed she had opted to wear something considered more appropriate to her gender. It was a very finely made violet dress hemmed in the same elaborate celtic knots that had been stitched into her earlier outfit. Around her hips sat a thin, silver chain that ran down the middle of her skirt that swayed slightly as she walked. And in the hollow of her slender throat sat a gold pendant that displayed two hands cradling a heart topped with a crown. It was then Elsa realized why this woman looked so familiar to her.
"Your, Majesty I -" Kai started but Elsa just shook her head before he could continue.
"It is alright, Kai," Elsa said, doing her best to reassure the manservant. "I'm sure her companion will be on his best behaviour. "Also, could you fetch Anna for me? I'm more than sure she has forgotten our appointment with the physician today. I'd check the stables first."
Kai hesitated for a few moments, eyeing Conan apprehensively. "Yes, Your Majesty," he said before nodding and striding towards the exit.
Nia took a moment to assess this mysterious Queen of Arendelle. She seemed so very different than the timid, anxious young woman Nia had met those many years ago. This woman carried herself in a way that displayed both her maturity and authority and yet there was still a fragility about her that piqued Nia's curiosity.
"Thank you, Your Majesty," Nia said offering a small curtsey and tilt of her head, to which Elsa returned with a nod. "I do assure you that he does exactly as I tell him. Conan, down," she said to demonstrate, for as she gave the command the canine dropped down next to his mistress, looking up at her as if waiting for further instruction.
"Very impressive," Elsa said smiling her approval. "And I must say he really is quite remarkable. Do you mind me asking what kind he is, I've never seen any breed like him in Arendelle? I admit I don't know much about dogs. I was never very good with animals in any capacity really. I think they sensed my magic and so kept their distance."
"Animals are sensitive creatures, Majesty, they do not communicate through verbal speech like you and I, so they use body language and can easily read emotion. It is much more likely that they would sense fears or anxiety rather than magical abilities," Nia said with a reassuring smile. "I would be hard pressed to believe a wonderful gift such as yours would frighten an animal. And, to answer your question, Conan is an Irish wolfhound. A very common breed where I'm from, often used for hunting and to protect livestock. I raised him since he was a pup, runt of the litter if you can believe it."
The Queen blushed at Nia's compliment about her powers. "I must say I do find it rather difficult to imagine that there are bigger ones than him," Elsa chuckled.
Nia smiled. She decided she liked this Queen Elsa. She was easy to talk to and didn't seem prone to speaking down on those below her station, as so many royals often did. And Heavens, Nia had forgotten how lovely she was. She wore a magnificent soft blue gown that glittered in a way that Nia couldn't distinguish what fabric it was made from. No jewels hung about her neck or ears, she didn't need them, for her natural beauty far outshone any gems. The only decoration she sported was a delicate tiara, nestled neatly among her platinum blonde strands, which looked to be cut from glass and shaped like the top half of a snowflake.
But Nia was not there to gawk; she was there for a purpose.
"Forgive me, Majesty. I don't think I properly introduced myself. Or at least you probably don't remember when my father introduced us at your coronation."
Elsa grinned. "Countess Niamh of Castle Dunmore, if I recall correctly."
Nia blinked at the Queen in surprise. "You have quite the memory, Your Majesty."
The Queen shrugged. "I admit I didn't recognize you at first, but then I saw your necklace," she said gesturing to the chain handing around Nia's throat, "and I remembered asking you about it during our first meeting. The claddage, yes?"
"I'm impressed, Queen Elsa. You are correct on both accounts, or at least mostly correct. I simply go by 'LadyNiamh of Dunmore', now," she said. "I relinquished my claim to my father's lands some years ago."
Now it was Elsa's turn to be surprised. "Did you two have a falling out?"
Nia shook her head with a smile. "Hardly, Your Majesty, quite the opposite in fact. It was all done at my request when I became certain my brother was more than equal to the task. I knew the people would be more content with a male heir anyways. The Irish are much more… shall we say, 'traditional' compared to those here in Arendelle, plus it freed me to do what I truly loved."
Elsa felt herself hanging on to every word that fell from this stranger's lips. Drawn to her like an insect to a candle's flame. Nia was like something out of one of her stories – enigmatic and brash. She was so different from Elsa herself, who was so focused on duty and maintaining control at all times, which only served to make her all the more captivating.
"And what is it that you truly love?" Elsa asked, somewhat shyly, almost as if she hadn't meant to ask the question at all.
A contented smile painted Nia's expression and her gaze became unfocused. "To travel," she said, "and to learn all I can about the things that fascinate me most. Which, I suppose, brings me to the reason for my visit to your lovely kingdom."
But before Nia could explain herself further a loud gasp interrupted her.
"Ohmygosh! You! From the market!"
Thoroughly confused, Nia watched as a young woman with the reddest hair she had ever seen and so many freckles Nia could have sworn she was straight out of one of the storybooks her mother used to read her, skipped over to fidget excitedly beside the queen. Her appearance caused Conan to stand up and sniff her curiously - Nia couldn't help but notice the queen had gone very still at his sudden movement - and to Nia's amazement he stepped forward to push his head under the new girl's hand for a scratch.
"Well I'll be," Nia breathed.
"What?" The redheaded asked – who Nia now recognized as the Princess - happily falling to her knees and letting the canine give her sloppy kisses on the chin.
"He only behaves that way with me. And one other time…" Nia said, trailing off.
"When was the other time?" the Princess asked curiously.
"When my sister was… Forgive me, Your Grace, but you- you wouldn't happen to be… expecting, would you?"
Nia watched the surprise arc simultaneously through both women, confirming her suspicions. "I went to visit my sister and her husband when she became pregnant with her first child and it was like he turned into an entirely different dog. He followed her everywhere and was very protective. He even growled at my brother-in-law once," she said, chuckling at the memory.
The princess laughed, where as the queen still hadn't moved. "Such a clever boy, aren't you! Aren't you!" she cooed. "Oh Elsa would you relax, I can practically feel you worrying from here. He isn't going to eat me… although considering how big you are, you probably could. Right big guy?" the younger girl said winking in Nia's direction, forcing the woman to hold back a snort.
"That's not funny, Anna!" The queen scolded.
"It's a little funny. You just have no sense of humor," Anna teased, resulting in a small flush working its way up the Queen's neck.
Elsa tilted her chin up haughtily and folded her arms in a very undignified pout.
"You would never hurt me, would you, big guy? See, Elsa he's a big'ol softie," Anna said as Conan lay down in front of her and rolled on his back so that she could rub the soft underside of his belly. "You only attack big jerks in pubs who try and hurt your mama, don't you?"
Now it was Nia's turn to be surprised. "How - how do know about that?" she asked.
"Anna and I were in the market yesterday and happened to witness your… altercation," Elsa said, a little sheepishly. She still felt a little guilty for not allowing herself to intervene – despite the fact that Nia had been more than capable on her own.
Her shyness then turned into a small smirk. "I believe both my guards' prides are still smarting a little from your interaction."
Nia simply stood blinking at the two royals as the Queen's admission sunk in and she couldn't help the small flush of embarrassment that coloured her cheeks. Brawling with two men after an afternoon of drinking and cards was definitely not the kind of first impression she'd wanted to make. How was she going to gain the Queen's approval now?
She cleared her throat and bowed her head, trying to regain some semblance of composure. "I apologize, Your Majesty, Your Highness," Nia said. "That was… was unbecoming of me. I – I was…"
"It's alright, Lady Niamh." The Queen interrupted gently. "You were simply defending yourself. I only wish you had never been put in that situation in the first place, and I hope it had not tarnished your view of Arendelle's people."
The Irishwoman felt some of the tension in her shoulders ease. "Hardly, Your Majesty. It will take a little more than a couple of common thugs who can't handle losing to a woman at a simple game of cards to soil my opinion of your lovely kingdom." She smiled. "And please, call me Nia."
Elsa returned her smile while the Princess stood up and held out her hand.
"Nice to meet you, Nia!" Anna said brightly, before leaning in and lowering her voice. "But seriously, what you did to those guys was awesome! Could you teach me how to do that?"
Nia's laughter quickly turned into a hiss of pain as she took the Princess' hand. Conan jumped to his feet at the sound, eyeing her with concern.
"Oh my gosh! What is it? Are you okay? I'm so sorry!" Anna said.
"No, No," Nia said. "It's not your fault. It's just my hand, that's all."
The Princess made a pained expression before taking Nia's wrist before she could resist, and examined the appendage. It had turned a lovely assortment of colours and the knuckles had become so swollen that Nia could no longer make a fist. "Yikes. It's from punching that guy in the face, isn't it?"
"It's fine, really," Nia assured.
Elsa stepped forward a little hesitantly. "May I?" she asked.
Nia starred at the Queen's outstretched hand in confusion for a few moments before nodding in understanding.
As gently as she possibly could, Elsa took Irishwoman's hand and held it between her own.
The Queen's hands were soft and smooth – which made sense as everyone knew the monarch had worn gloves almost all her life – and it elicited a response in Nia that she had not been expecting. Gooseflesh raised all along her arms and her stomach did an impressive somersault at the contact.
For a few brief moments the two locked eyes and something passed between the two women that had Nia's mouth suddenly very dry.
She was pulled from her reverie however, when the young Queen suddenly looked away and a soft glow began to emit her palms. Nia watched in rapt fascination as a soothing cold wrapped around her hand and she couldn't stop the sigh of relief that slipped past her lips as the throbbing pain in her joints was reduced to a dull ache.
When the light died away and the warmth returned Nia examined her limb, holding it up to her face and curling each finger experimentally. The swelling had gone down considerably and the flesh felt cool to the touch, as if it had been bound in a healing balm.
"Wow," she breathed. "That's – you're incredible."
The Queen smiled bashfully and simply shrugged. "It's nothing."
"Nothing? It's amazing!"
Elsa merely tucked a loose strand of platinum blonde hair behind her ear, clearly becoming increasingly self-conscious under Nia's awed gaze.
The foreign girl didn't even realize she was staring until the Princess cleared her throat loudly, causing both women to look away from each other and shift awkwardly as Anna watched with a sly grin.
Elsa was the first to regain her composure as she stood more upright and folded her hands in front of her lap. "I apologize, Lady Nia. I'm sure you had actual reason for your visit today?"
"Yes, Queen Elsa. I would like to request your permission to travel the nearby foothills," Nia said.
"Oh?" Elsa asked lifting an eyebrow. "And what is it you will be doing?"
"I am hoping to observe one of your unique reindeer herds in their natural habitat," Nia explained. "Also, if you know of anyone who might be able to help me locate… whyyy are you looking at each other like that?" Nia asked as the Queen and the Princess turned to each other with knowing smiles.
"You are more than welcome to explore the surrounding Arendellian wilds to further your research. And in regards to whom I could offer as a guide, I think I know just the man for the job."

Rebecca (Kapitel 19–20).
Författare: Daphne du Maurier. I översättning av: Dagny Henschen-Harrie & Hilda Holmberg. Utgivningsår: 1938 (på svenska 1939).
Delmål (fram till och med kapitel 20). En bok-/läsecirkel tillsammans med @kulturdasset.
¡Oi!
