LANGHORNE, Pa. — In a hotel conference room a little over 20 miles northeast of the Philadelphia venue where the two major parties’ presidential nominees were set to debate hours later, a conservative group was preparing to rally its supporters Tuesday morning behind a Republican candidate locked in a tight battle for Pennsylvania votes. No, the candidate w,as not former President Donald Trump. Americans for Prosperity Action, or AFP Action — a libertarian-leaning conservative group funded by the Koch network of conservative donors — and its Latino outreach arm, Libre Action, were instead holding a canvass kickoff event for Dave McCormick, a former hedge fund manager and Gulf War veteran engaged an uphill battle to unseat U.S. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.). “We’re fighting for our American dream — the American dream that is slipping away from us,” Jennie Dallas, the Harrisburg-based strategic director of the affiliated Libre Initiative, told the multiracial crowd of staff members and paid canvassers clad in light blue organizers T-shirts. “And we know that David McCormick knows that.”

AFP Action’s Tuesday event in the heart of suburban Bucks County — one of the most contested counties in a critical swing state — offers a window into what a non-Trump-aligned right looks like in 2024. It means waging campaigns more focused on tax cuts and deregulation than on mass deportation or populism, and focusing on Senate and House races with more conventionally conservative candidates. A win for McCormick, who is considered far more of an underdog than GOP Senate challengers in Montana and Ohio, would virtually ensure Republican control of the Senate come November. While Democrats have a 51-49 edge in the chamber now, they are certain to lose West Virginia and their best pickup opportunities are long shots. GOP control of the Senate could prove especially critical for conservatives if Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris defeats Trump in the White House contest, according to Emily Greene, a senior adviser to Americans for Prosperity Action who runs the group’s Pennsylvania operations.

[...] Shaping — and, more recently, surviving — changes in the Republican governing coalition and policy agenda are nothing new for Americans for Prosperity and its political spending arm, AFP Action. But the Koch network — as AFP/AFP Action, The Libre Initiative/Libre Action, and their affiliate partners are often known — now finds itself in an extended period of ideological exile from the highest levels of Republican power. AFP opposes Trump’s trade tariffs, has a much more moderate approach to immigration policy than Trump and, unlike Trump himself, continues to defend the bipartisan sentencing reform bill he signed in 2018. Americans for Prosperity’s surviving founder, the oil and manufacturing billionaire Charles Koch — who co-created the group with his late brother, David Koch — has made his aversion to Trump abundantly clear. AFP Action decided not to endorse a candidate in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, dedicating its federal resources to electing Republicans to Congress. And in June 2023, the Kock network announced that it had raised $70 million to help the Republican Party move away from Trump. When Trump eventually emerged as the Republican presidential nominee this year, despite AFP Action’s $31 million super PAC spending on primary opponent Nikki Haley’s behalf, the group once again pivoted to Congress.

[...] To American progressives, Charles and David Koch were once the country’s chief ideological villains. They bankrolled the tea party movement, which gave birth to a hard-line faction of congressional Republicans committed to obstructing then-President Barack Obama’s policy agenda. But while many rank-and-file tea party activists were actually more concerned about immigration than their budget rhetoric would suggest, and welcomed Trump’s nativist program with open arms, the Kochs — and the cadre of right-wing libertarian activists and intellectuals they cultivated — were not ready to make the jump.

With programs like The Libre Initiative and Libre Action, the Koch network is also betting that appeals to Latino voters’ pocketbooks and interest in upward mobility would be more effective than Trump’s personality-centered populism — regardless of what polling suggests about his inroads with Latino voters. The Libre Initiative has, for example, argued that the Biden administration’s attempts to make it harder to classify workers as independent contractors would “hurt Latino workers,” since half of Latino workers fall under this category. “They’re opening up, and they’re seeing what’s most important to us now is our prosperity,” said Dallas, the strategic director. “It’s about being able to prosper in America.” At the same time, Libre’s moderate rhetoric on immigration, which combines calls for strict border enforcement with support for legalizing Dreamers and other bipartisan reforms, also hearkens back to the time period after Republicans’ loss in the 2012 presidential election, when the GOP began looking at softening its stance on immigration to appeal to more Latino voters.

The Koch Brothers, determined to stay in the GOP apparatus of influence, are focused on the #PASen race in a quest to flip control of the Senate.

THE BATTLE OF NAJAF 20TH ANNIVERSARY

Premiered Mar 25, 2024

April 4, 2004, marks a significant event during the Iraq War. Remembered as the “Benghazi of Iraq,” the Battle of Najaf was a deadly conflict involving coalition forces, primarily comprising CIA and U.S. Blackwater contractors, Spanish and El Salvadorian commandos and a small detail of U.S. Marines engaged against the formidable Mahdi Army, a Shiite militia led by Muqtada al-Sadr.

The conflict began when a small coalition force and members of the coalition council were attacked and quickly overwhelmed. Answering a distress call from the coalition forces, Ambassador Paul Bremer authorized 12 Blackwater aviators and operators to fly three MD530 helicopters, “Little Birds,” into the firefight to rescue their brothers “By any means necessary.”

Once on the ground, the small team comprising less than 20 men helped push back the Mahdi Army enabling the rescue of all coalition forces and council members. The intense firefight lasted several days and represented one of the largest insurgent attacks during the Iraq War with an estimated 1,000 Mahdi Army combatants entering the fray.

History is being forgotten in the world today, this piece allows us to preserve the memory and honors the men who answered the call for help without hesitation, who put foot to ass for the right reasons, who so bravely fought with compassion for their brothers, the people of Iraq, the coalition, the free world, and the highest moral code. No Doubt About It: President Trump is a Russian Asset

If it walks and talks like a duck, it probably is a duck.

All the fuss over Russian interference in the 2016 American presidential election now seems perfectly quaint. Clearly, President Trump is not merely aligned with Russian interests. Rather, he has all the appearances of being an actual Russian asset.

Nomination for Governor Haley could not be more urgent.

As G.O.P. presidential frontrunner, President Trump's invitation to Russia to attack Europe cannot be separated from the Republican Party itself. Europe is one of America's most significant trading and strategic partners. A Russian attack on Europe would, hands down, be a disaster for the world economy.

A couple of weeks ago, I called President Trump a bad choice for business. Let me restate my position: it is now obvious President Trump would be a horrifying choice for American business.

The urgency to nominate Governor Haley is now -- truly -- a national emergency.

What happened at the 2018 Helsinki Summit when President Trump met with Vladimir Putin?

The secret meeting between President Trump and Vladimir Putin -- secret except for translators -- is now surging in importance. What happened? What words were exchanged? What deals made?

We don't know. President Trump ordered his translator to destroy notes from that meeting. But we can draw some conclusions:

President Trump may not only want to scale back NATO. He may have made a deal with Putin to do that.

Putin attacked Ukraine in 2022. It is plausible -- entirely now given President Trump's comments over the weekend -- that Putin's ultimate plan is to invade other members of the NATO alliance. The most obvious targets: the Baltic states of Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania. But Poland, Romania, Croatia, maybe even Hungary would not be out of the question.

New World Order

If there is a "New World Order", as Vladimir Putin claimed along with his Chinese counterpart a few months back, it is now quite clear whose side President Trump is on.

 peyton hasn’t live in rosefield all of her life. in fact she is one of the town’s newer residence. she moved there a little under a year ago with her mom and sister.

* peyton was born and raised in san francisco in a neighborhood called pacific heights, commonly known as billionaire’s row.

* her mother is from the town but in fear of being a townie, she went to san francisco and never looked back until now.

* she was born into wealth, her father owning a chain of five star hotels for as long as she could remember. she spent a ton of time in the beautiful hotels her father owned, learning her work ethic from him. her father was stoic man who put more value on a dollar than substantial relationships with his family. your typical rich dad.

* her mother was a trophy wife, spewing meaningless side projects like perfume lines and eye shadow palettes that enviably made their way into departments stores alike.

* peyton’s fondest childhood memories was helping set up for the weddings in the hotels. watching the flowers be arranged, the chairs be strategically placed, the wait staff setting the champagne flutes. this lead to her taking an interest in doodling wedding dresses and small flower arrangements.

* she has a small wildflower tattoo going along the curve of her breast that she drew, fun fact.

* when she was five, her little sister was born. the two grew up inseparable, running amuck in their house together, pranking the nannies but most importantly: ice skating. there were obviously no ice rinks in california naturally but their nanny would take them to an indoor skating rink for lessons. peyton and audrey were quite good skaters.

* in high school, peyton won a ton of awards in art contests and even got scholarship to attend art schools across the country. her dad insisted there was no money in being artist, he urged her to take over and be a hotel tycoon like him. peyton and her father fought a lot towards the end of high school about this but at the end of the day, she was her fathers daughter and was stubborn.

* she attended rhode island school of art and design, earning a degree in interior design and a minor in illustrator. after graduating, she returned home and expected to have a job in the hotel that could suit her.

* as she expected, her father got her a job in his business planning the events and having creative control over how each other ballrooms looked as well as the lobbies. working in close quarters with her father made their relationship grow quite strong. the two did everything together and suddenly their stoic walls were crumbling, only for each other.

* this was until one night when police knocked on the door of their home late at night and arrested her father for laundering money and other organized crimes. this broke peyton’s heart and forced her to become cold to the world once more.

* in fear of their family name being slaughtered, peyton’s mother sold the hotel and assets to the highest bidder and moved back to her home town.

* peyton was definitely not born for the suburban life style but she enjoys being close to her grandparents and loves all the opportunities for her work.

* she lives in a wealthy neighborhood In rosefield. her home is the closest thing to having a mansion that rosefield has to offer, a very old money feel.

* when peyton moved to rosefield before the first murder occurred, she didn’t have many friends. she’d mostly hang out with her family.

* about a month in, she downloaded tinder the way any lonely 22 y/o would.

* her and nate hooked up several times but peyton didn’t want any of the high school drama that came with sleeping with an eighteen year old so she wanted to keep it secret.
