Lmao Flash (which I’m assuming is Barry) and GL (which I’m assuming is Hal Jordan) are going to be deeply invested in this to the point they start to unknowingly raise Billy.

At some point the various school administrations think the two are gay dads trying to raise their wayward son.

If Billy ever calls them ‘dad’ they will think it’s sarcastic or an inside joke.

When Billy gets revealed, you bet the two will be in too deep, this officially adopting them. (Whether this is platonic or romantic HalBarry is up for interpretation).

School

Billy hasn’t gone to school in years. naturally, he’s curious about others experiences with it.

Marvel: “You’ve gone to school?”

Flash: “Yes? You sound surprised about that?”

Marvel: “What’s it like at school?”

Flash: “It’s boring. Really boring.”

Marvel: *sounds disappointed* “Oh.”

GL: “Cap, have you never gone to school before?”

Marvel: “Nope!”

Flash: “Not even in Ancient Greece? You were born around that time, right?”

Marvel: “What? No??”

GL and Flash: *share a look*

GL: “Cap, how old are you?”

Marvel: “Chronologically?”

Flash: “Yes?”

Marvel: “It’s between 92 and a hundred thousand.”

GL: “That uh… doesn’t really give us much to work with, man.”

Marvel: “Let’s just go with 92.”

Flash: “So you’re saying that during your 92 years of living, possibly more, you’ve never even stepped foot into a school?”

Marvel: “Well, I went all the way up until I was eight.”

GL: “That doesn’t really make it better.”

Flash: “Maybe we can work something out with Black Canary?”

Marvel: “What?”

Flash: “Well, she manages the kids on the team. She tells them to go to school and stuff so who’s to say she couldn’t find a way to make you go to school too? She’s resourceful like that.”

That’s how Billy ended up going to school as Marvel while shapeshifted into Billy.

Flash and GL: *dropping Billy off at a school in their civies*

GL: “You’re such a cute kid, man!” *pinches his cheek*

Marvel: “Dude, stop!” *slaps his hand away*

GL: “Alright alright, fine.”

Flash: “Have a good day at school!”

Later…

Flash, GL, Marvel: *all walking to a zeta tube while munching on hotdogs*

Flash: “So, Cap- er Mark, how was school?”

Marvel: *takes a bite so he can chew in silence for a bit* “I got expelled.”

Flash and GL: “WHAT?!”

Halbarry spy au based on a fic my friend wrote for me 🫶

I havent uh...done hals character sheet yet but ill add it later

Okay lore time:

This is sort of a combination between the cw flash show and the comics because my friend only knows the cw show

Iris, Barry and Hal all work under the same spy agency (i guess its a version of the justice league but i think i need a diff name for it).

Barry "flash" allen is an agent well known for his agility and efficiency, and yk he loves a plan!

Specialty is cryptography and tracking people down (forensics background)

Picked up some code and info gathering from iris. B + I work really well together because they understand each other's fields and also are BFFs (yay!)

I like to think hed be interested by new technologies and gadgets because hes a nerd

Not a very good liar, Iris has tried to teach him her tricks and he has. sort of improved?

Iris "dutch" west is like the woman in the chair. (I named her dutch becuz of the dutch iris flower, its very pretty you should look it up).

She's known for digging up information and learns a lot abt the clients/targets/whatever so that her agents are best prepared (barry loves this). S

Works behind the scenes during operations to make sure everything goes smoothly

Very good at manipulation and getting things out of people.

Wanted to be a field operative but Joe wouldn't let her (its apparently dangerous or something...🙄). She does occasionally go on little unofficial missions that only barry knows about because a girls gotta have her fun!!!

Joe is some sort of supervisor for the agency btw. 👍

Hal "highball" jordan!!! Hal is overall a very skilled agent. He's a creative and unpredictable fighter, plus he's able to think quickly on his feet.

He really enjoys the risk of the job and sometimes gets a bit too into it which can cause some erm. predicaments. But hey! quick thinking!

His impulsiveness has put many of his partners in danger due to their inability to keep up with him.

Charismatic (rizz!!), helps him on missions that require a little people shmoozing.

Many people underestimate his actual ability and think he has gotten to where he is by nepotism/sleeping his way up but hes a very hard and ambitious worker

side note: Carol ferris is a higher up and after she and Hal broke up she sent him on really dangerous jobs out of spite. "haha yup almost died. shes so funny <3"

Barry sort of gets paired with hal as damage control and is NOT very happy about it because he thinks hal is incredibly annoying and impulsive. Hal is also not very happy about it because he thinks Barry is uptight and a goody-two-shoes. They are both not wrong!!

Because of Joe and Barry propaganda, Iris doesn't really like Hal at first but likes teasing Barry about working with him. Eventually hal wins her over

Barry can be a bit of a control freak in terms of sticking to the plan so working with hal forces him to loosen up and become more adaptable. I think Hal learns to appreciate Barry for his skill and respects his work ethic. He really trusts Barry and eventually goes along with his plans (even if he knows they won't go perfectly, but thats what improv is for). I think as they work together they build a really strong trust between them like 'Ik u wont let me die! thanks a lot xoxo'. imagine them gayly and clichely driving away from a mission in a cool convertible with the radio on. yeahhh!

Sometimes when I write fanfics I really want to do serious situations and serious dialogues, but to achieve my goal, I usually have two big problems.

I lack inspiration and time to come up with the right moment.

And number two and probably the most important: Hal Jordan.

I hope that idiot doesn't really take control of the fanfic and take it in the direction, although the way things are going… I think he will win.

(I pretend to hate Hal because to be honest… I love writing that idiot, it makes me laugh so hard and stress out about his damn internal crises.)

barry has broken timlines -> that means... there would be canon halbarry in some timelines (yes I'm not talking about hank and ray) i need angst fic about this...

hank and ray are alt versions of hal and barry, down to the comic nerdiness + parallax graying hair reference. it’s a win in my book as far as canon is concerned

and it does have great fic potential! but i’m not much of the angst type either, i actually think it would be rly fun and silly (<- guy who can only take things fun and sillfully)! barry goes around doing his multiverse checkups and finds the timeline where he and hal are happily married and goes “haha wow, good for them! surely this says nothing abt me !”

i can only imagine what they’d think abt him. god do you think alt timeline hal would start flirting with our barry too 😭 cue the sitcom laughtrack!

It's often a little unclear who would win in a fight, but I'm confident that Barry will always be able to slap the shit out of Hal when he's being himself before Hal could stop him, and honestly that's what Hal is missing in his life, it's what Carol doesn't understand.

Barry won't call Hal out about the whole Parallax thing, partially because his crimes against science, reality, plausible narrative and God mean that his house is made of glass and built on sand, and really I think it's nice that Hal has one relationship where the other person has no grounds to remind him that he should really probably be in the Phantom Zone.

I don't think Hal is really capable of being emotionally available during sex, but Barry will be out of the shower and asleep in bed so quickly after they start that there will be no time to dwell on it.

Running Around Catching Feelings?

Halbarry friends to friends-with-benefits to lovers!

Barry falls first, but Hal falls harder in this one, and it's one of my few fics where they're not already in an established relationship. I also play in the omegaverse sandbox but everyone is fluid: beta is the baseline and then they cycle through Alpha and Omega without really being able to predict which one they're going to land on.

Hal and Barry make a deal to help each other out through heats and ruts because their cycles are in sync but of course realizations are had, feelings are caught and it doesn't stay casual.

“Want me to bring you back anything?” asked Hal, hooking his chin over Barry’s shoulder, “In about two weeks, I will be two minutes away from the statue of liberty.” “Hal, everything is two minutes away for me. A lot less even,” Barry pointed out. Hal pinched his side. “No one goes to New York just for the tacky I Love NYC T-shirts, Barry,” he retorted. Barry tried to flip around on his back only for Hal to drop his full weight on top him to keep him pinned down. A low fire flared in his belly and he squirmed, very much enjoying the sensation of warm skin sliding against his own and the hot puffs of breath at his ear. Just to be contrarious, he tilted his head away to avoid the kiss and Hal’s lips landed on his chin instead. “You know, I’m still waiting for the souvenir you promised me from the moon in sector 3897,” said Barry. “I told you, I had it shipped to earth but it got lost in the mail! It was supposed to get here before I did.” “Sure, because the guardians can figure out light constructs powered by will, but mail delivery is one step too far.” Hal growled low in his throat, finally losing patience with Barry’s arguing. He looped an arm under Barry’s chest and back up to wrap it lightly around Barry’s throat and tilt his head back, just so he could finally collect the kiss he’d been seeking. Hal in alpha was fun because he was too impatient and distracted to keep up with the banter properly, which meant Barry always won. It was particularly pleasant when Barry was also in alpha because his competitiveness was through the roof and he liked to win. “I’m trying to be sexy here, please get with the program,” Hal whispered in his ear. “You started it,” taunted Barry, smiling. “And I’m finishing it,” said Hal, “don’t complain when all you get is a shitty keychain.”

I am in need of help from the HalBarry community.

Ive recently become enamoured by these two and have been searching for good fics focusing on the pairing. However, most fica either are:

A. AUs that are far detached from canon (Soulmate AUs, Highschool AUs, etc.) which Im not exactly a huge fan of-- especially since Im new here lol. Id like to find smth that I can reasonably imagine happening in canon.

B. Fics that DO seem reasonably in canon dont exactly focus on HalBarry primarily and have them as a side plot. Again, would prefer these two to be the main focus of whatever fic I pick up 😅

(sidenote: smth that isnt overtly focused on smut and isnt a one shot would be also greatly appreciated. I like taking long reads on so a solid multi chapter fic would be nice.)
