Sometimes when I write fanfics I really want to do serious situations and serious dialogues, but to achieve my goal, I usually have two big problems.
I lack inspiration and time to come up with the right moment.
And number two and probably the most important: Hal Jordan.
I hope that idiot doesn't really take control of the fanfic and take it in the direction, although the way things are going… I think he will win.
(I pretend to hate Hal because to be honest… I love writing that idiot, it makes me laugh so hard and stress out about his damn internal crises.)
'No, really, it is,' he insists. "He spends much of his free time helping to reform criminals and regularly attends children's hospitals or orphanages… He goes and read them stories, Bar!" "I'm sure Superman does too." "Superman doesn't have a big butt and fat thighs." Barry sighs in defeat. He is not going to be a participant in a debate like this. "So... Do you think I could be the Flash type?" Barry blinks in confusion at the question and looks at him trying to decipher if Hal is joking, surprisingly he isn´t."
(I'm posting a little sneak peek of a fanfic I'm working on for Halbarry week, because I'm very happy to have finished another fic for the event. Now all that remains is to correct them. Probably the worst part.)

The time has passed too soon, when I least realize the week will be in front of me, fortunately I have maintained a constant development of fanfics and although I still need to review them.
I already have stories for every day (some are still in process and others just started).
But I think I'm doing pretty well.

Ok but now I’m really thinking about dnf halbarry... is Dream Barry because he’s a speedrunner or is he Hal because you know... green...?
anon im in love w u ive been waiting for someone to ask me this
DREAM IS HAL!!! i have my propaganda ready. one of the main things abt hal that made him such a good hero was his quick thinking.
there's a really good quote abt hal and bruce that goes "batman had a backup plan for a backup plan, and hal was capable of coming up with a plan whilst in immediate danger" does that not sounds like dream??
his quick thinking during manhunts is quite literally the Hal Jordan brand.
now for george as barry.
this one is less about george and barry's personalities, but more abt how they act in relation to hal/dream. they're best friends. they tease and mess with each other all the fucking time.
the only thing i'd change is that barry's tendency to be more responsible applies more to dream than it does george. and hal's tendency to play around and mock things is more george-like.

propaganda:
Classic DC yaoi with the same amount of homoeroticism as superbat, halollie and halbarry but no one pays as much attention to them. One time Ray went missing and Carter immediately started letting himself get hurt in battle to feel something (not normal in the slightest).

Like a little extra that I'm setting aside to put in my Halbarry propaganda.
Barry wouldn't have acted the way the league did, because he was always there for Hal no matter what.
No matter how much he messed up or how much trouble he caused or even how much money he owed you.
He was always there to support and help him because Hal was his best friend and always made it clear how much he loved him.
And Hal also made it clear so many times, so much so that one of the main reasons for his mental health to fall to the ground is Barry's death, Oliver himself says it in a panel of a comic book.
"It actually started with Barry"
Barry was a support in Hal's life, and vice versa.
I already put it in my post explaining why I ship Halbarry, but I'm going to put that phrase back because it perfectly describes what a stalwart and great friend Hal always was with Barry.
"The poor thing needs something to hold on to, so he'll stay with me. Our friendship may be a comfort to him. He can always count on that until the day we die."
And Barry counted on Hal until his last day, unfortunately Hal couldn't count on Barry.
Not because he didn't want to, but because Barry himself was dead by then.
But when Barry comes back to life and Hal talks to him about his time as Parallax, we see him open up and talk about himself like he's crap; but Barry doesn't believe it, because he's always known his best friend and knows that the man Hal describes isn't his friend.
Barry knows that the man Hal became after his death is not the kind of man Hal wanted to be or was... That Hal was a broken, bruised man who was left completely alone.
And of course Barry feels guilty for "abandoning" Hal the same way everyone else did, although he knows it wasn't the same, he also knows that Hal felt that way.
And she doesn't blame him when he's hostile or reluctant to approach people, she knows Hal has trust issues and doesn't want to hurt those he loves.
That's why when Parallax arrives again, Barry clings to the idea of going with Hal even though Hal refuses, insisting that he's dangerous and a bunch of that Barry doesn't care about.
Barry knows he's left Hal only once, and he knows he won't do it again.
Because Barry has hope in his friend and he knows that Hal is a good man who has been very unlucky.
In conclusion, Hal probably wouldn't have become a Parallax if Barry had been alive, and if even that had happened, Barry would have done everything possible to stop him without hurting him and would have believed in his best friend again.
He wouldn't have judged Hal as harshly as the others in the league did.
do you think there's a reason why the justice league pretty much abandoned hal when he's trying seeking for help (heck even ollie says to him that he should fuck off 😭😭) like their the main build up why hal becomes a supervillain
but I guess that's just how the league was written in the silver age, like if the emerald twilight was written today I don't think the league would treat hal that way
I honestly think there are reasons for everyone to tell Hal to hell, I don't think they're valid reasons, but they are reasons.
I guess it plays a big role that everyone was too busy dealing with their own to also pay attention to Hal's problems and the best thing they could think of to do was minimize Hal's pain. Tell him to get over the death of his best friend, the destruction of his coastal city, his age crises, among other things.
Personally, whenever I read "Emerald Twilight" and remember everything in the background, it pains me to remember that all of that was a product of how lonely and neglected Hal was.
"His friends" invalidate him and tell him to move on with his life, when Hal can barely stand up.
I think that the attitude that they have is also something that I have seen many times in real life with several friends.
It is difficult and tiring to deal with a person who has mental problems.
It takes patience and empathy to understand what's going on, and a lot of times that's not even enough.
When you are so used to seeing a person you love and know perfectly well be so happy, and just months later you must see how they slowly fall into an abyss and how the smile and attitude you were used to disappears and becomes a blur dead in life, it is difficult to deal with and many people tend to leave.
Am I trying to justify what the league did to Hal in the 1980s by leaving him alone and minimizing his feelings and then looking at him as scum when he became a callous and depressive villain?
No, of course not.
But I think I can understand why they acted the way they did.
Still, he didn't justify them, and it still hurts me to realize that Hal was left alone when he needed someone most.
(Parallax would never have happened if Barry had been alive, because Barry wouldn't have pressured him like that and tried to help him, and no one's going to be able to change my mindset about it.)
