#Hades' Lament au

Ooooh. I just saw your most recent post, so I want to know what are the new AUs that you have thought up now. Are they more Naruto, Epic/PJO, or DC/DP? Or are there even more fandom AUs being introduced. Either way, I would like to hear about them!

So I few new ideas here!

The first one is an Epic sort of Pjo crossover in that it's part of my brain damage Athena AU, OdyPenAth AU called Athena's Prayer! I've been working on it with @dantsem who is amazing!

What happens in that one is that while Penelope and Odysseus managed to scare many of the suitors families out of retaliating for their deaths, one particular family decided that the threat of death wasn't enough to stop them from taking their revenge.

Essentially, after Odysseus returns and reunites with Athena and his family, Athena, Odysseus, and Penelope all get together. And then, some time later, Odysseus is out in Ithaca with Telemachus when they're attacked by one of the suitors families.

The attackers are killed in the ensuing fight, but Odysseus takes an attack aimed for Telemachus and is poisoned in the process.

No one in Ithaca knows how to find or make the antidote, and even when Athena searches her library she can't find anything.

So Odysseus gets worse and worse, nothing they do is helping, Athena isn't strong enough to burn out the poison because of God Games, and Odysseus is not going to live for long.

So as Odysseus's condition worsenes Athena finally breaks her promise of not bringing anyone in from Olympus and prays to Apollo for help. Literally begging him to heal Odysseus from the poison so they won't lose him after everything they've already gone through.

Apollo, upon hearing Athena legitimately praying to him, which Gods never do, goes to her immediately to see what the hell is going on because she's supposed to be resting, Fate's damn it, she just almost died!

Two more AU's under the cut! One Naruto MadaTobi, the other Epic/PJO

WARNING: The second AU under the cut, Hades' Lament, is Really Dark and I do go somewhat in depth about Zeus being abusive to Apollo and Athena!

Another AU is a Naruto Mada/Tobi one that I'm just calling the Wolf AU. Basically, some Hatake can shift into wolves in this verse as a kekki genkai, but those that can have a lot more trouble controlling their instincts than those that don't. And sensors are even worse off on that front than average. So of course Tobirama gets the kekki genkai.

Hatake that can shift have two forms. One that's roughly the size of a real wolf, so bigger than a dog but not enormous. And the other is huge, roughly the size of a moose. AKA 10-12~ feet tall at the shoulder with canines and claws longer than your forearm.

*WARNING: This one gets DARK!*

Now in this verse, if a Hatake that's shifted gets injured, they can't shift back until they're mostly healed. So when Tobirama gets wounded in his smaller form on a mission, he's stuck that way. He ends up in the same area as Madara, who is on a 'vacation mission' because Izuna and Hikaku thought he was too stressed out. Madara finds shifted Tobirama and takes care of his wounds, Tobirama sees who Madara is off the battlefield, all those cliches.

The vacation mission later goes to hell because of course it does. Tobirama, still in his smaller form and slightly hurt, takes several hits for Madara and gets him the opening he needs to get away.

Madara takes it, feels guilty, blah blah blah, hard cut to the next time they're both involved in a skirmish.

Madara is still recovering from his wounds, Hashirama's upset he was gone for so long and pushing him even harder because of it.

Madara missteps right into the way of one of Hashirama's attacks. If it hits he's probably gonna die.

Tobirama, on the other side of the battlefield fighting Izuna, vanishes and reappears between Madara and the attack.

He takes the hit, shifts to his bigger form without thinking, loses himself to his instincts because of the sudden and unexpected shift, and attacks Hashirama for almost killing Madara.

From there I'm not sure how it'll go yet.

I might have Tobi and Touka run for attacking Hashirama, might have it go a few other ways, but it's endgame MadaTobi either way. Might go with a Centering AU, might not, haven't decided yet.

Another AU is yet another Epic/PJO AU I've been considering called Hades' Lament. It's starts out very similar to the Chthonic Athena AU, except Hestia, Poseidon, and Hades are all at the meeting as well.

It goes roughly the same until just before Athena dies, but instead of Athena getting struck, Apollo manages to get between her and the bolt.

But Zeus is much worse here than he is in Chthonic Athena (I'll explain more on that front in a second) meaning that both Apollo and Athena fall into comas from it because of how badly off they both already were.

There's a fight, Zeus is dethroned for it, all that good stuff. Then the others realize that oh shit, Athena and Apollo aren't waking up, something is actually really wrong here.

Now to elaborate on how Zeus is worse here. Not only does God Games happen here, but afterwards, Zeus becomes physically and emotionally abusive to both Athena and Apollo. He treats them well in public, particularly in front of their siblings as a way to further isolate them and turn the others against them, but when alone he's much worse than anyone else on the council expects.

One particular change in this AU is that the plot is very different from any of my other ones so far. What basically happens is that when the others realize that Athena and Apollo aren't waking up, they go to Hypnos. Hypnos in turn sends them to his son Morpheus and reveals that a major part of the reason Morpheus fought against Olympus when Kronos returned was because of how badly Zeus treated Apollo and Athena.

When the Council go to him, Morpheus ends up revealing that, as the God of Dreams, after his brother Phobetor faded shortly after the fall of Ancient Greece, he had also been given domain over nightmares as well. Which was how he found out about Zeus's treatment of Athena and Apollo.

He'd essentially been stuck watching the two of them suffer through their nightmares ever since, because of how often they had them. Gods only sleep deep enough to dream when they're particularly exhausted or recovering from injuries, so the two of them were dreaming more than anyone else on Olympus. He could give them relief sometimes, give them pleasant dreams when he could, but that was all. He couldn't do anything about their suffering when they were awake.

Morpheus then tells them that, while he can't tell them the reason the two aren't waking up, he can show them what Apollo and Athena had suffered over the years.

The Council agrees to this, and they're then shown that not only was Zeus physically and mentally abusive to the two of them, but he also leveraged their relationships with their siblings and children against them as well.

Zeus would threaten to kill their children, or to hurt the others the way he was hurting them to keep them in line. Threatening Ares and Artemis in-particular was very common for him, because of how much Athena and Apollo cared for them as their other halves.

He would even leverage that relationship to make them hurt each other, making them fight until one of them was beaten unconscious.

The Council, and particularly Ares and Artemis, are absolutely horrified to learn all of this, but they still don't know why Athena and Apollo aren't waking up.

Morpheus gives them a cryptic clue about one of them having the ability to wake them, and then leaves them on their own.

🌌🌠Fandom and other news.🌠🌌

As evidenced by my reposting of art yesterday, I currently have a new obsession. It is the Video game Hades by the company Supergiant. I got into it because I love Greek mythology, in fact, there are several Greek Gods and Goddesses in my book series. My favorite character from the game is definitely Thanatos. I love his voice and how he is portrayed and I even have his theme song as my phone's ringtone. It's safe to say that I am one hundred percent addicted. I still love Minecraft and the Illagers, so Hades and Minecraft are my two favorite games now. In other news, my 31st birthday is only 10 days away from today. Hard to believe that I'm already in my early thirties. I officially started my next semester of college yesterday and I will be going Tuesday and Thursdays. My New Year's resolution is to work on the first draft of the first book of my series. I finally have a title and what I want it to be about. The first book will be called "The Archon's Lament" and the entire series will be called "Where Light Breaks Shadows mend," so don't be surprised if I update my author Tumblr account. Hopefully, in the near future, I will be able to start writing fanfiction about Thanatos from the game, which I'm excited for. Intro, R1, R3, R4

In history

•She is the only female emperor of China and the path was definitely paved with blood

•Her reign lasted 15 years and she rose from commoner to concubine to emperess and then emperor regent

•She was a ruthless rular to the nobles and used religion to her advantage while also being a brilliant tactician and I may sound like I am simping but I am being real

•She is allegedly said fo have killed her own infant daughter to frame a fellow concubine just to show how far she was willing to go

Oh boy

•The fight starts with her going on one knee and once again embarrassing poor Alvitr.

"I'll be in your care then! Please take good care of me!"

•Afterwards she take a good look of her opponent and exclaims "Youe coat looks nice" Hades' thinks this is some weied attempt to gain favor or throw him off guard so to establish dominance in response he drops off his coat and takes on a fighting stance.

•Their fight is long winded with both side unrelenting I won't go in specifics as I am still developing this au but expect some additions (ofc if anyone wants I'll answer any questions on this fight)

•They have a conversation mid battle about how much of a throne is "earned" with hints towards Wu Zetian's backstory. She expresses her ire towards the gods stating that beings who think themselves inherently superior, rarely are which prompts Hades' to aks if she considers herself inferior

•In a scene where Hades' has delivered a truly deadly combination of blows that even his blood has been reduced to steam covering the arena in a fight that seems to have ended Heimdall's voice rings and he looks back to find Wu Zetian alive and aiming directly for his neck, her body thoroughly covered in the rising steam even if he was sure she was dead a few feet away from him

•Turns out she had removed her clothing and some of her hair to give the illusion of a body. She was however fighting mostly naked now covered on blood.

•Her backstory includes being the low ranking concubine of Emperor Gaozong and on the path to become a Buddhist nun ofter death. However she caught the eye of the crown prince and was saved into his harem instead where determined to not be as hopeless as she was and motivated by the strange (now) Emperor she climbed the ranks through manipulation, bribery and threats

•She did manage to be who she is after only having to kill her daughter, husband and son/heir altho the last was in self defense as he tried a coup against her and with having taken opium to help her exhaustion her clouded mind jumped on reflex and ended up killing her son. This led her to spiral even more behind the scenes of he rcourt and die with alcohol and drug overdose

•"Is it a ruler from birth who is meant to rule or one who made themselves one? Neither. It is one who can claim the throne, and keep it ."

•Just before a final blow could be dealt on Hades' We Zetian tells him to surrender and live having grown repsect for him through their fight but even before asking she already knew the answer and is not suprised when he laughs at her face. He then tells her to not take the fight personally and bids her farewell.

•After the fight she takes his coat and wears it walking away. She stops mid way from her retreat only to turn and look at the gods side of the arena specifically the greeks' and flips them off before continuing, after leaving the arena on her way to the med bay she laments how a pretty face like Hades' was wasted on a dumb mind

•She is well built but more on the skinnier side, she wears traditional chinese makeup with huadian on the forehead, ends of her lips and cheekbones, she also has red connaber lining her eyes and colouring her lips

•Similar to Qin shi Huang she has red and black tattoos that cover her neck and both her arms down fo her fingers.

•Her Volund is a Shuangyue with gold accents

•She is a very eccentric person similar to her og counterpart, however she can be very driven and seems to be verging on a breakdown sooner or later which sets people off.

•She meets Hermes and Area by skipping over the balcony window to sit on the railing for the view during the last moments of the previous round, only to be dissapointed when the fight ended only 2 minutes after her arrival.

Ragnarok AU Round 7 Winner: Wu Zetian

For the sgs au since both Ursula and Hades can make deals do you think that at one point one of them sees Yuu struggles so offers to help. The price? Depending on who approaches Yuu first it's going to be either a boat ride with Azul or a video game marathon with Idia. When one finds out what the other is doing it ends in a bit of a scuffle. (Some windows and desks were broken)

You see, it wasn't suppose to happen, they couldn't touch many things nor interact with anyone beside the overblot boys and themselves, the henchmen were the lucky ones that could come and go of this weird limbo like state to a fisical form

But one day...

Yuu, reflexively: bless you

That scared the hell hehe out of Hades, yuu could hear a murmur afterwards but couldn't discern what the person was speaking what the fuck?

And now they realize that as the days pass, the more ghost like they become, they can pick up small objects, murmur into other people's ears and knowing this... they immediately started to plan how to make best use of this

Ursula notices how stressed Yuu is when one day they come working at Monstro lounge

School is stressful as heck, we all know this, now imagine being the therapist of a private school full of prideful little shits with a headmaster that avoids any involvement with those same students, yeah, Yuu's life is 100% worst

The child worked their little butt off and even becomes the manager of chaos when it inevitably happened, they dealt with Floyd's mood swings like it was another Tuesday and stopped Jade from cracking more cups than normal

But when movement becomes slow they vanished, curious and a little bit worried she search for them, and sleeping on one of the far away tables with dim lights, next to a tank were Flotsam and Jetsam watched their sleeping form, was the little shrimp

Books and notepads scattered on the table, little doodles on all of them of food, drinks, eels that look very similar to her boys and the little monster cat, together with study notes, they realy work so hard... she could lend a hand couldn't she? After seeing such a poor unfortunate soul like this, how can she nor help? She only needs some time to prepare the contract

Hades got worried that Yuu hadn't came visiting Idia this week, maybe one of the others confessed? Maybe it's too late, maybe they got on a dangerous situation were he could turn to his favor?

But when arriving at hamshackle he just finds the kid sleeping on the couch, work uniform and all he still needs to fix the fact that yuu works at monstro lounge, this gives Ursula and azul a big advantage that he doesn't like one bit, black bags under the eyes, the adorable part is that the demon cat was sleeping besides them, yeah the little dude could be a rascal but he cared even if he doesn't admits it

He knew by the imp's videos that Yuu's life was not easy, but he never got to see it first hand beside the times he goes to watch them on classes

Hades: by tartarus you realy live like this kid?... y'know I got an idea grins* a little deal never hurts anyone! Now what would be the best outcome for this

He starts pondering for so long that is best to leave for another day

The air becomes heavier and heavier, the students that passed by could see two big terrifying familiar forms starting to appear

The smell of fire and storm were forming by the entrance of Hamshackle dorm

Azul and Idia felt the changes, they bolted out of their classes, nobody knows how Shroud runs so fast without exercise and how Azul didn't stumbled on the way

So what do they do? They ran to help

The two titans fight scaled so quickly that nobody knew what to do, hamshackle's windows were busted, half of the school ground was destroyed, the boys arrived just in time to see Yuu running to the storm's eye

Of all people Idia and Azul were one hell of a team once Yuu notices their presence and becomes the maestro of the fight, it stopped quickly once Ursula and Hades noticed who those three humans were

The two villains were scolded by the two dorm leaders

Yuu: ... why are you guys talking to air?

Azul/Idia: ..... A-about that, hm....

Yuu:... so you guys can see the spirit that is causing some trouble on my dorm

Azul/Idia: THEY ARE WHAT?

Hades: it isn't so baddd we just have some metting nothing too big

Yuu: if nothing to big is breaking my dorm apart so yeah, it's just a little bit inconvenience

Hades: shit I forgot you can hear us now

Yuu: US??? THERE ARE MORE??? ... sighs* let's talk later, now come here you two, what did you break? I'll treat it until the nurse comes

i can't stop thinking about an alive!bianca au so i'll just put them here to not forget

Bianca actually found an entrance to the labyrinth just before she was crushed, and fled there

She spent months in the labyrinth (which felt like a week) until she was finally able to get out

She left in Venice and was worried about everything that had happened with the mission and the others

Aphrodite showed up and told her that Bianca was presumed dead four months ago

Bianca wanted to go back immediately, find the hunters and Nico, but Aphrodite stopped her

The goddess said that she could protect Nico as he was under her blessing, but that Bianca should stay away as it would be too complicated to protect two powerful demigods together

(remember in MoA, when Annabeth, Piper and Hazel meet Aphrodite and she says "would it make their love life interesting?" considering all that Nico did, I would say Aphrodite had a lot of fun with so much tragedy)

Bianca was very afraid, but Aphrodite said that Nico was safe in the CHB; that Percy, because he understood what it was like to be a powerful demigod, would be by Nico's side

So Bianca trusted, and decided to stay in Venice

She learned to fight alone, discover her own powers (since there were many monsters there) and gradually remembered her own past

Unfortunately, the Di Angelos had been condemned shortly before Mussolini died, massacred as traitors for not following the fascist regime, and only Bianca and Nico of the family were left

Artemis' blessing was taken away by Aphrodite, to make everything more "real", according to the goddess

Bianca started having constant nightmares: she used to see Nico alone in the underworld, accompanied by ghosts all the time, always looking miserable and lonely

When she questioned Aphrodite about it, the goddess said that they were just irrational nightmares, fueled by a feeling of guilt at Bianca's core for having "abandoned" her brother (we all know how manipulative Aphrodite can be)

Sometimes Bianca also dreamed in the first person: that Nico had summoned her to a ranch together with Percy, that Nico had tried to summon their mother's spirit, and she had tried to stop him... but there was no way those things could be true, after all, Aphrodite was always so convincing in saying that Nico was protected at CHB, right?

Until one day, Aphrodite arrives and says that Nico died in the battle against Kronos, shortly after convincing Hades, Persephone and Demeter to participate

Bianca wanted to visit him in the underworld, but Aphrodite was persistent in saying that would only bring more headaches

And then Bianca stayed there, for years... living old and new memories, surviving the monsters, making friends, totally away from the greek world in the USA, and still with the bitter feeling in her chest

Years later, the situation got much worse in Italy: monsters appeared in huge flocks and just didn't die, and Bianca felt a crack between the underworld and the mortal world, along with the presence of thousands and thousands of monsters

Before she could focus on it, the nightmares returned: this time, Nico was alone in a dark and completely horrible place, with monsters sprouting from the ground, rivers of fire and lamentation, dark and empty sky and air that felt like poison

Bianca couldn't understand why these nightmares came back, but the more she had them, the more something stuck in her mind: she needed to go to Rome, and that's what she did

No one but her saw the gigantic flying greek trireme, but with her invisibility powers, it was easy to get there

Bianca felt the presence of demigods and wanted to know why they were in that place until she saw: Nico, with glassy eyes and looking half dead

She surprised the demigods, not looking at anyone and just going on automatic, wanting to get Nico out of there

It was then that Percy's face appeared and Bianca hesitated to run away

in this au nico kinda went crazy because of tartarus (honestly how it didn't happen in canon i don't know) and he's in a vegetative state where he doesn't recognize anyone

Hello! Sorry, yet another person here to absolutely fawn over your fallout au, which I finally just finished. I've really enjoyed reading through all of the tumblr posts all morning, I had a thousand qs I'd ask about the characters and story if I could but just… WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT PAT AND ACHILLES. How do they find out. Is Hermes just like "yup, guess we should go back to see Achilles" one day and Patroclus is like "Hold up what the fuck did you just say"?

Anyway I appreciate this story ended a while ago and you're probably out of charmes inspiration these days so don't worry if you have nothing to say, I am going to go and stare into space and think about Charon and Hermes smooching instead of doing my day job thanks

A) thank you so much for all your kind words, including your comments. I'm just very bad at responding to those but I am grateful and extremely happy you enjoyed my stuff!

And b) while I am burned out of Hades content, you did unfortunately activate my trap card that is talking about sad old ghouls and centuries long pining. So I'm using this as an excuse to detail how Achilles and Patroclus finally meet each other once again.

So, after everything in fallout au, Zagreus starts what I like to call the White Boy Soul Search™. He runs away from Asphodel and his father several times in order to try and find out more about himself and who made him (Persephone) all while the dynamic duo of Theseus and Asterius are tasked with bringing him back (which they succeed several times cause, listen, Zag did beat the mutant in a 1v1 but they are still an ex-Brotherhood Paladin and an ex-Unity Nightkin tag-teaming dragging an android man back to daddy).

On these travels, Zag meets up with Hermes quite often, as Hermes is secretly checking up on him under the guise of 'haha wow we crossed travels again, cuz! Crazy, amiright haha'. At one point early on, Zag laments how his power supply seems to run out so quick and he just can’t understand why but if he could fix that, then he could continue his investigation longer while leaving the guards tailing him in the dust. Hermes, upon hearing this, is all too eager to drag him off to go see the friendly neighborhood android doctor, Pat, who welcomes them in with less than enthusiastic arms. 

Now, Zag has, in the past, read most if not all of Achilles' journals he keeps around in his private rooms, and is well versed in his personal history and his long lost love he still dreams of and sees false images of in the crowds at the arena. So when Patrolcus introduces himself with that long dead lover's name, while also being a ghoul, Zag starts to get curious. While Hermes is off getting bullied by goats and a rooster, Zag starts asking questions as Pat is looking him over: what'd you do before the war, where were you stationed, what have you been doing since, anyone you miss from that time?

Pat is dodging all of these as he has always done, but just as he's wondering if he should force a sleep cycle on this new synth, Zag just comes out and asks if he knew anyone named Achilles. That's a name Pat hasn't heard in decades, one even he doesn't dare to speak aloud and, as you would expect, he drops whatever he's holding. He assumes he misheard, but when Zagreus clarifies that he knows a ghoul named Achilles who writes often of a Patroclus he knew before the bombs dropped, Pat forcibly enters him into sleep mode.

When Zag awakens, his power supply problem has been fixed and, in payment, Patrolcus demands he leave and never speak about this 'person' again as it is impossible his Achilles survived the bombs, suffered from ghoulification, and lived for as long as Pat has. By his words, it is cruel to string a old man along like that with the hope such a person could be alive only to dash it once its revealed he's speaking of the wrong person. Zag tries to argue but Pat is adamant and sends him and Hermes on their way, considering the topic null and void.

So Zag goes back to town, heads directly to Achilles, and tells him about Patroclus, expecting at least one of them to be happy to hear about the other. Achilles indeed is, in disbelief and elated beyond measure Patroclus is alive but that happiness fades. There’s a sadness to him as Zag describes Pat’s condition and reaction and, when he suggests Achilles go and see him, Achilles refuses, stating it's for the best he stays away.

It takes a while for either of them to budge. Achilles is wracked with guilt over having abandoned Pat during what could have been their final moments, and the idea of seeing him again, and seeing what would be justified anger and hatred at his actions, would be too much to bear. Patroclus, on the other hand, refuses to believe this Achilles is the one he knew, that upon seeing this person, that being faced with one final confirmation that his Achilles is dead, it’ll become all too real for his steadily declining grip on reality. They’ve both spent nearly two centuries mourning someone and neither wants to have that festered, scar reopened, to go through it all again.

Eventually, Zagreus appeals to a sense of catharsis in Achilles, that perhaps apologizing, even if it's to a closed door, will bring him some peace. So he agrees to go without Zagreus as this is something he needs to do alone, and after a boat ride and a long lonely walk with his thoughts, practicing an apology over and over again, he finds himself at the quaint isolated farm. At the sight of a man across the fields tending to his crops and his animals, Achilles nearly turns right back around, centuries of guilt and grief and hope hitting him like a freight train.

He doesn’t get to as some of the goats spot him, bleating and tottering over to the frozen ghoul in their curiosity, alerting their master to the visitor’s presence. Patroclus moves closer, not recognizing the person standing among the tall grass, about halfway to his homestead from the fence, with his hand on the pistol at his hip. He calls out as he continues to step closer, tells the ghoul he doesn’t take in wanderers and the stranger will need to move on now if he wants to avoid the deathclaw’s sunset hunting hours.

They've both changed physically, recognizable features sloughed away as their skin and soft cartilage dried and fell off throughout the years but one thing that hasn’t is the way Achilles says Patroclus’ name, choked in disbelief and a reverence that carries unaltered by the breeze. It’s Patroclus who stops in his slow approach, hand falling from the pistol and the breath knocked out of him. Achilles takes a cautious step forward, saying something but Patroclus doesn’t hear it, falling to his knees as he begins laughing.

He’s certain he’s finally lost it, that the radiation burning away at his brain has finally done its job, that this is some hallucination, and as Achilles comes to his side, touches him cautiously, his laughter turns to weeping. He falls into Achilles’ embrace, assured by the physicality of it that this is real. That’s he’s real, that he’s alive, oh God, he’s alive and has been just a few days' travel away for years...

It’s happiness. It’s guilt. It’s mourning once again, but this time not someone lost, instead years, decades, centuries wasted alone when it could have been together.

But, as a similarly crying Achilles promises, that doesn’t matter. There’s explaining to be done, apologizing to be had but they’re together now. They have time now and he’s not going anywhere this time if Patroclus doesn’t want him to.

oh, of course!

Orpheus and Eurydice are a Greek myth, though they're canonized in literature in several plays/novels/accounts by Greek and Latin writers, and modern ones. My favorite is Virgil's Georgics Book IV, which has a poem about them and a beekeeper (highly, highly recommend reading it, in this one the beekeeper's bees have died because of a curse to punish him as he wrongly killed Eurydice, which is just one of the scenarios for her death that we see in mythology! the translation i've linked by A. S. Kline has some absolutely gorgeous prose).

but they're one of my favorite mythological couples ever because they have a beautifully, tragically poetic story: Orpheus is a musician, and Eurydice is his wife. The myths vary on exactly how, but Eurydice dies one day and Orpheus, fiercely grieving and unable to live without her, endeavors to go to the Underworld and bring her back (a feat no mortal has ever achieved). He plays music lamenting his loss as he descends into the Underworld, and it's so beautiful and moving that none of the monsters attack him, and even Persephone, the goddess of the dead, is moved by his love. Therefore, Hades and Persephone say that he can take Eurydice back with him to the living world--if he leads her up without ever once looking back to make sure she's really there.

Orpheus gets almost all the way to the top, the entire time nagged by the fear that she's not actually there, that the footsteps he hears are his imagination, and when he's almost at the entrance--he can see the sunlight--the temptation is too much and he looks back. Just in time to see her standing there, but he looked back and so she's lost to the Underworld once more. And then, in true mythological fashion, he cries himself to death by a river/lake (the details are a bit vague in my memory here 😆).

the last bit of the story (the ascent back to the world of the living with Eurydice behind him, and particularly the last look back) is referenced many times in literature throughout the ages bc it's such a powerful scene, and there's a lot of different interpretations on why he looked back--because he couldn't bear not to know if he had her a second longer, because he loved her too much, because he'd already passed into the real world and she hadn't, but he didn't realize and so it was a mistake etc etc.

they're deeply tragic, but one of my absolute favs because their entire story is shaped by the depth of their love for each other. There's a quote from a play about them by Sarah Ruhl that I adore bc several interpretations show Eurydice's forgiveness amongst her grief when she's taken back, because she knows he only turned bc he loved her.

Orpheus: How will you remember?

Eurydice: That I love you?

Orpheus: Yes.

Eurydice: That’s easy. I can’t help it.

(gotta put my classics education to use somewhere 😌)

It’s easy to lose yourself in the Underworld. Down there, the power of the five rivers all pull on you at once. Lethe, the river of forgetfulness. Acheron, the river of woe. Cocytus, the river of lamentation. Phlegethon, the river of fire. Styx, the river of oaths and promises.

Do you know why Persephone is forced to return to the Underworld? It’s not her love for her fiance, though I’m sure that would be reason enough. No, it’s because of the fruits.

When she and Jungkook were still pretending they weren’t in love, he left her alone to attend to some business with the foremen of the factories. She plucked a pomegranate and ate six of its seeds.

But the trees were watered by the River Styx, and in eating from the fruit, she unknowingly made an oath to live in the Underworld. One month for every seed she ate.

And, of course, she fell in love with Jungkook. Returning to the Underworld for six months every year would ensure she could have the best of both worlds: she could still care for the mortals up above, and she could be with the man she loved.

But for Jungkook, there was always something in the back of his mind that reminded him that if she had never eaten from that fruit, she would have never returned to him.

You leaned against the railing of the bridge looking down at the River Styx. The water was full of garbage--it always had been. The river was the final resting place of mortal misery, where hopes and dreams go to die. The pollution--old trophies, diplomas, tokens of love, broken toys--floated idly by. You focused on a stuffed pink bunny stuck in a little eddy near the bank.

After leaving Taehyung and Eurydice in the park, you couldn’t bring yourself to go home. You were frustrated with Jungkook, sure, but you were frustrated with yourself more. You knew he had gone to the surface and brought her down. Why it had affected you so much to hear them say it, you had no idea.

Maybe it was the fact that he had threatened to find someone else. Maybe it was that he had walked out on your argument. Maybe it was that he seemed to loathe everything you loved about the mortals and their world.

Maybe it was all of the above.

You weren’t surprised to hear footsteps approaching you on the bridge, and you were even less surprised when he leaned against the railing beside you, his shoulder almost brushing against your own.

He was quiet for a while as he stared down at the river with you. Your eyes remained on the pink rabbit swirling and dunking into the water, only to sputter out along the rocks before being caught by the current again. Round and round it went, an endless cycle.

A sharp inhale caught your ear. “I’m sorry,” Jungkook said, his normally deep and confident voice was soft.

“You tempted her.”

“I know. I’m sorry.”

“You left me alone in our apartment to go and tempt her.” You were surprised at how flat your voice was. You felt like you could burst into either flames or tears. You weren’t sure which would make you feel better. Your voice, however, remained steady against the emotional war within you. His silence was deafening. “What are you so afraid of?”

“What?”

“They’re just kids in love.”

Jungkook sighed, and you could see him run his hands through his hair in your periphery. “You don’t understand.”

“I think I understand more than you know.”

You turned to look at him then. His hair was disheveled, his eyes were soft and kind, but there was something else in them. He was hurting. You hadn’t seen him like this in… you had no idea how long it had been. A century? More? Jungkook couldn’t hold your gaze, and his eyes darted down to the water. Little by little, your anger dissolved.

“You know,” you began softly. “The way she looked at him up there, it was like he hung the moon just for her-”

“Artemis wouldn’t be very happy to hear that-”

“I used to look at you like that.”

His head hung low, his dark, slightly curled hair hanging in curtains in front of his face. “She means nothing to me.”

“I know.” You moved closer to him, your shoulder brushing against his. Maybe it was because he seemed so vulnerable, but you wanted nothing more than for him to hold you in that moment. “But she means everything to him.”

“So?”

“I think you should let her go.”

“You know I can’t do that. She signed the contract.”

“You wrote the contracts. You can rip hers up.” You sighed. “He loves her, Jungkook. He came all the way down here just to find her.”

Again, he was silent, staring down at the water as he rubbed the palm of his tattooed hand with his thumb. He clenched and unclenched his jaw as he thought. “Then what?” he questioned finally, turning his head to look at you.

“What do you mean?”

“I let them go. Then what? It’s getting to be that time of year. You’ll leave, and then what am I left with?” He shrugged. “I let them go, I lose the respect of the shades. I lost you a long time ago. What am I left with?”

“You haven’t lost me,” you told him quietly, reaching out to brush some of his hair out of his eyes. “I’ll always return to you.”

“Would you, though, if you didn’t have to?” He sighed. “I wrote the contracts for the shades. But I wrote that one, too. A long time ago. Back when Styx was a nymph who supported Zeus in the war. I could rip it all up. You wouldn’t have to come back.”

“Oh, Jungkook.” You took his hand, your eyes falling back to that pink bunny still caught in the current by the rocks. You had a feeling you knew what it was like to be caught in the swirling, drowning eddies. You squeezed his hand and repeated: “You are my sun, my moon, and my stars. I will always return to you.”

His brow furrowed and he opened his mouth to respond. But before he could say anything, a scuffle in the road before the bridge drew both of your attention. Taehyung stalked toward the bridge, Eurydice hot on his heels. She was holding his hand, quietly begging for him to stop.

Jungkook chuckled dryly, his head falling as he let out an exhausted huff before he turned to the couple. “I honestly can’t tell if you’re brave or stupid.” He pushed himself away from the bridge railing before crossing his arms in front of his chest. “I guess it doesn’t really matter, does it?”

“I’m not leaving without her.” Taehyung’s eyes were hardened with determination, and he stood in front of Eurydice, as if trying to shield her from Jungkook’s anger.

You watched as Jungkook’s tongue poked into his cheek. “I tell you what. You’re a singer, aren’t you?” He pointed to the lyre hanging from Taehyung’s back. Taehyung nodded. “I’ll give you one chance. Sing me a song. Impress me. If you succeed, well… we’ll see.”

“And if he doesn’t?” Eurydice was standing beside Taehyung now, her hand firmly clutched in his.

“He’ll become one of my shades. You can spend eternity together here.” Jungkook shrugged. “Of course, neither of you will remember anything, but eternity’s eternity.”

Taehyung’s eyes were wide. “Really?”

“One song. One chance. Right now.”

Eurydice looked like she was going to cry. You smiled sadly at that. Her mind might not remember Taehyung, but it seemed as though her heart did. She squeezed Taehyung’s hand before letting him go, taking a step back to give him room to perform. He slipped his lyre off his shoulder and began to play.

“King of Shadow, King of Shades,” he sang, his eyes focused on his hand forming the chords.

“Oh, it’s about me,” Jungkook huffed, leaning back against the railing of the bridge.

You stood beside him in silence, listening to Taehyung’s song. It was the story of how you had met Jungkook. But when he got to the chorus, you felt Jungkook stiffen beside you. The melody was simple, but it was hauntingly beautiful. Taehyung’s voice floated up and down the scale, moving rhythmically through notes and half-notes, falling down, then jumping up an octave.

Carefully, you reached out, your hand finding Jungkook’s. You squeezed his fingers. You hadn’t heard this song in decades. There was no way Taehyung knew it. There was no way.

Jungkook had written it for you.

“Where’d you get that melody?” Jungkook questioned. His voice was soft, and he sounded absolutely flummoxed.

“Let him finish.” You squeezed his fingers again.

“You didn’t know how, and you didn’t know why, but you knew that you wanted to take her home. You saw her alone there, against the sky, like she was someone you had always known,” Taehyung sang. “It was like you were holding the world when you held her. Like yours were the arms that the whole world was in. There were no words for the way that you felt, so you opened your mouth, and you started to sing.”

When he launched into Jungkook’s melody again, you felt your heart swell. Truthfully, you had forgotten about it. Jungkook had hummed it nonstop when you had first started dating. But then he had abandoned it for more complicated melodies.

Jungkook squeezed your fingers, and for a moment, you thought it had been an accident. But then the pressure came again, and it didn’t let up. Softly, you heard another voice join Taehyung’s as he repeated the melody. You smiled softly, gently leaning into Jungkook’s side as you listened to him hum along.

State of the Fic

Another month, another round up! This past month features some fun highlights such as baby’s first attempt at dark fic, the return of the stuckony warlord au, and the sequel to a 2-yr old fic that people have been asking me for since, well, since the first part was posted. I’ve got a lot going on in the background right now too; I think this might be the most I’ve written for the month of January ever and I started learning how to make gifs! Plus, of course, since it’s my birthday month, I’ll be opening up birthday prompts soon!

OPINIONS OF DREAMNOBLADE AU'S???? 🎤

anon... I AM FERAL RIGHT NOW. I LITERALLY WROTE LIKE 500 WORDS WORTH OF ESSAY (well, not like an essay. but you know what i mean) EXPLAINING EACH AUS THAT I KNOW. i was just answering my quiz and then... and then i accidentally clicked the x button. i hate myself right now ._. iʼm probably just going to explain again but with little enthusiasm *lies down on the ground and sighs*

canon universe. most of us probably consider canon universe as our comfort universe. there are the aspects of it that we already know about, such as things that actually happened in canon. there are also the things that writers added to the canon, like with ranboo being their child, with techno being a half-piglin (because iʼm pretty sure heʼs anthropomorphic pig and not a half-piglin), or with dream being half-dreamon or half-ender dragon. i think canon divergence is also part of this since itʼs also canon just in a different path. canon universe is basically a safe space for any us. i do consider it as a refreshment for me whenever iʼm getting tired of reading other aus.

origin au. as far as i remember, iʼve only read like two of this au but you know, iʼm including this just because. i donʼt know origin smp that much since i donʼt watch it but itʼs a nice concept. hybrids? yeah, sure, count me in. a nice community? hell yeah. i think itʼs cute. thatʼs pretty much it.

modern settings au. iʼm including coffee shop au and office au here btw, since i think itʼs pretty much the same just with coffee shops and office stuffs. itʼs pretty irritating to me, honestly (/lh). not all of them donʼt worry. like, yes, there are the fluff and giddiness (when youʼre laughing or blushing too much) but when itʼs pre-relationship and one-shot? i am shooting you. LIKE WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE PRE-RELATIONSHIP AND ONE SHOT WITH NOTHING NEXT TO IT (the next part of the one-shot). the thought was there and then... and then nothing???? =-=

god and goddesses au. okay... this au is *chefʼs kiss* especially when we make dnb as achilles and patroclus, eros and psyche, and even hades and persephone (kudos to pl because heʼs writing one). like, donʼt get me wrong, i also like dnb as like gods themselves instead of this *proceeds to point at achilles and patroclus, so on* but the thought of actually knowing what is going to happen in the story is pretty comforting. but you know, dreamxd and blood god? *chefʼs kiss*

superhero/villain au. i like this au, but it can be a bit repetitive. like with dream being a villain and techno a hero? itʼs... ehhh. like, look, thereʼs nothing wrong with it and iʼm not calling out the writers that write dream as a villain and techno as a hero, but does it have to be like that? ._. why do we need to perceive that dream is always a villain (in this type of au)? i really donʼt get it. and with the sudden popularity of this au in dnb fandom, i can say that there are fanfics that are out of my boundaries. this is probably why i like a heroʼs lament and ends, justified a lot because itʼs unpredictable in a way where i would be excited (especially a heroʼs lament. that fic is legendary af). iʼm always up for new things though. i would really like another dynamic that i donʼt know about.

detective/serial killer au. i have read like one fanfic about this and itʼs... excellent. yandere!techno and oblivious!dream? *screams* sadly though, it was taken down and the other fics that the same writer wrote ._. i was at the part where the girl died and dream was with techno so techno has an alibi and canʼt be a suspect and then i got the news that it was deleted *sobbing* anyway, the au in general is pretty decent especially when itʼs not that gory. also, i wouldnʼt recommend interacting irl with yandere people because i think itʼs really reasonable not to interact with any of them.

streamers au. iʼm a bit skeptical to include this since itʼs the closest au with the ccs but iʼll take the risk. this au in particular is also a refreshment of mine (kudos to sammy because his streamers fic is one of my all time favorite). half of us are probably scared of reading this au but donʼt worry, as long as dream and technoʼs selves are like their persona then itʼs okay. one of the things that says itʼs not shipping with ccs is with techno having a pink hair like with our fanon universe (because, come on, techno is anthropomorphic pig. unless technoʼs character is like sad-istʼs). so yeah, i still think this is pretty decent.

mafia au. i only read one mafia au and itʼs en passant but i assure you, this au is *SLAMS MY DADʼS CARD (since i donʼt have one)* the tension, hello??? how can anyone not like this??? iʼm going to punt anyone who will not like this. thatʼs literally it. mafia au? yes. iʼm not going to explain why i love it.

ROYAL AU. i think we all know where this is going. THIS IS THE BEST. ITʼS EVERYTHING I COULD ASK FOR. PRINCE!DNB, KING!DNB, MERCENARY? ANYTHING. I WILL TAKE IT BECAUSE WHO WOULDNʼT??? ARRANGED MARRIAGE/FAKE RELATIONSHIP, SECRET RELATIONSHIP??? UHM HELLO???? ENEMIES TO LOVERS??? THE BATTLES??? THE TENSION??? ITʼS EVERYTHING *SWEATS* ITʼS FLAWLESS, ITʼS EXCELLENT, ITʼS PERFECT! and with ranbaby as their child?? my baby *sobbing* sbi and dream team too ;-; itʼs literally everything. i always go back to my favorite dnb royal aus whenever i feel tired or out of place, or just bored. i seriously love it. i canʼt even express how much i love it. this whole thing is not even 1/8 of how i should say itʼs special. itʼs—itʼs... beautiful, literally.

Hades Au: Persephones Descent (AU info under the cut)

Persephone's descent : An Au

This Au begins with Zagreus living above . He is in turn stolen back to the house of Hades and best mom™ Persephone is incredibly pissed off and ready to kick ass.

Thematically wise this merges the themes of the original game , original lore used in game + the sort of relationship shown in the Bridge production of midsummer night's dream between titania and Oberon. (For Hades and Persephone that is).

Things that remain the same: -

-Orpheus' failed attempt to get Eurydice free.

-Zeus' kidnapping of Persephone.

-Hades and Persephone did in the past truly growing to love each other , enough to have Zag together.

What changes:-

shortly before Zag is born Persephone asks to go back to the surface. She fears a new god's presence appearing in the house of Hades if detected by the Olympians could set off an investigation and then war. She says with Nyx’s help they can hide between the Olympians and the house of Hades alongside the river styx away from prying eyes. She also fears that if he is born in the realm of the dead what that will do to him as a baby , she thinks the only way he can live is to be born on the surface.

Hades is the one truly trapped as he cannot follow where Persephone treads, at first he hates the idea but as the days go by and zags birth approaches he realises it's what's best much to his disgruntlement. He asks Nyx to sneak Persephone out of the house to make her believe it is not his wishes but that she has to go anyway and to not return for all of their sakes.

Zag is born by the Styx he lives a life in the cottage they build there together , every now and then Zag sees a green mist in the distance when a farmer collapses or a elder in the village just off the coast passes away peacefully , the green ghostly figure does not cross the threshold of the cottages walls, does not step into the thriving bountiful gardens only watches . green with envy .

Every now and then Charon visits sparingly bringing news from Hades or Hermes bringing news from the Olympians all seems well in the in-between.

One night Zagreus strays too far from the cottage and it's warm green fields, the green ghostly figure he follows further along the clifftops , past the sea dowsed orange with the sunset to a small clearing covered in snow and pillar after pillar after pillar and before him a door taller than any building he's seen before.

Zagreus disappears that night , the next morning Charon arrives early before Persephone can even wake , she arises to aggressive banging on her front door like a drum , Hermes is there as well with Grave news that Zagreus has arrived in the underworld , he's gone.

Persephone is grief stricken till the duo tell her no hes not dead but he has been taken , stolen by Hades and Persephone is pissed. She gathers whatever she has I'm talking sickle, pitchfork, a tonne of pomegranates , the boons of one speedy lad and whatever Charon can sell her.

Alternatively the boons she gains along the way could be from the cythonic gods excluding Hades whom are wanting to help Persephone.

Persephone gets the help of those she encounters along the way who are posted up to slow her down which is :-

-Cerberus:

Whom she's so angry is being used a s a gaurd dog he's a good boy who doesn't deserve to be stuck at the doorway waiting.

- Achilles and Patroclus In Elysium

Whom Hades has reunited so they can fight together in the arena against Persephone . Once beaten and finding out what Persephone is here for they both agree to help her , they know two well, one person who wants a "demon spawn" out of the underworld who'd be happy to help her get out of Elysium

(This is Asterius and Theseus)

-In Asphodel rather than Eurydice (who's in the house) it's Orpheus who sides with Persephone's Lament at having to leave behind the one person they love the most because of doubt. He tells her about Eurydice and how she now resides in the house of Hades and how he wishes more than anything to be reunited with her , Persephone offers to take him to her .

*Orpheus joined the party*

-In Tartarus we meet Sisyphus who confesses to chatting with Thanatos who was full of remorse for leading Zag into the house of Hades but couldn't go against Hades demands I mean he's his boss and it's not like he killed zag or anything.

- we get to the back door to the house , skelly almost sets off the alarm but with Cerberus stealing skelly jaw bone he can't really make much noise to alert the rest of the house , with the cover of Nyx and the blind eye of Thanatos Persephone almost has Zagreus back when Megeara spots her and alerts Hades .

-Either that or alternatively Orpheus rushes to Eurydice and the commotion alerts the house to them. Meg is watching over Zag trying to keep a distance between themselves / not get overly familiar "it's nothing personal just business"

Other rambles-

Hades kept Eurydice around instead or Orpheus as Orpheus always sings about lost love and heartbreak and separation . Whereas Eurydice sings about finality , Hades often asks her to sing the song she wrote herself "Good Riddance" , he finds it soothes the souls entering Tartarus and his own.

Zags been trapped in the room Hades had made for him before they'd left , and Zag spends the time it takes Persephone to descend into hell learning about the father he never knew he had.

We enter phase two : I will lovingly call

"Custody negotiations ".

-Persephone is here and she's livid and not leaving without her son

-Hades tells her that Olympus was getting too close to their cottage to finding out about their son he had to come back to the house for all their sakes

- Zagreus wants to leave , Persephone wants him to leave to

- they argue ALOT

-zag gets aquanted with Dusa, Hypno and Cerberus

-when Persephone mentions the constant winter minus their grove Hades realises something is wrong and they need to fix it , Persephone demands due court . All the members of the house must come together and decide / figure out how to inform Olympus of Zags existence so that they may go back to the surface without fear or if it's truly fucked atleast stay underground till it's better

Ok but Stenbrough Hades and Persephone au. Stan doesn’t kidnap Bill but instead woos him and does get permission from Richie (who’s Zeus in this and yes Eddie is Hera) and they live peacefully in the underworld for only six months before Bill has to go back to his mom. And yes Bill does love Cerberus every time he goes back into the underworld

Ohmygod. This concept. Is so good. It takes my breath away.

Stan being God of the underworld and he’s always really stoic and sarcastic and snarky but Bill ADORES him and can see that Stan has a kind soul. Meanwhile Bill is just this giant, bubbly dork who gives Cerberus belly rubs. He comes back from the underworld and just lays on Richie&Eddie’s couch and laments about how much he loves Stan and how much he misses him.

Series Summary: A Greek Mythology AU featuring Yoongi/Suga as Hades and reader as Persephone. Olympian ruler Namjoon has delivered you, Persephone, as a gift for his brother, lord of Death, Yoongi Chapter Summary: Preparing for the Masquerade ball and some adult time on the beach.

You stretched your hand out along the walls. You had been cultivating the vines for a few weeks now; their tendrils weaving along the Palace corridors. The red was a stark contrast to the black walls. Excellent. Your dress pooled behind you as you stopped to admire your work. The ball would be in a week; there was still so much to do. You heard a gentle clacking against the floor and knew it would be Yoongi. The servants all wore soft shoes. You waited, petting the vines.

“It looks great,” He said, wrapping an arm around your waist and gently pressing a kiss against your temple. He still couldn’t believe he could just do that.

“Thank you. Not too over the top?” You asked, looking up at him.

“No. But, we do need to talk about the palm trees.” He moved away slightly and held up your cloak with his other hand. “Are you coming?” 

You faced him and allowed him to fasten the cloak around your neck. His fingers gently touched your throat, causing you to blush slightly. 

“Of course,” you grabbed his hand as the two of you walked through the Great Hall and towards the exit. The walls of the Great Hall had been lined with Chrysanthemums and orchids. Staff had begun to sit out tables for the reception area. “What’s wrong with the palm trees? They looked great yesterday.”

Yoongi smiled. “ They look beautiful. It’s just. I don’t want people thinking of the Underworld as a vacation destination. Palm trees give it that impression.”

You feigned surprise, knowing he was right. “I’m sure the dead people and spiders will change their mind, don’t worry.” You teased as the two of you took the cavern path today. The cave glittered with your phosphorescent plants. Your magic had flourished these past few weeks, uninhibited by any negative energy. 

“[Y/N], please. I do have a reputation to maintain. Dark. Scary. Rawr. Is that a flower crown?” Yoongi asked as the two of you exited the cave and approached the Gate of Judgment. 

Holly cocked his heads to the side. Each one adorned with a little flower crown. Well. They were actually quite large, but on his heads, they looked small.

“It’s three flower crowns. We played yesterday.” You responded, petting Holly’s side. “Didn’t we???? Didn’t weeeeeeee?”

His tail wagged and his tongues lolled out, happily.

Yoongi shook his head. “Holly! You’re only supposed to listen to me! Traitor.” 

Holly moved his ears up and down as though asking “What?”

You laughed. “You look beautiful Holly, don’t listen!” Holly wagged his tails.

The two of you continued over to the beach. What had once been a desolate landscape, filled with nothing but black sand, was now dotted with black and silver palm trees. Their frons a beautiful contrast against the greenish-grey sky.

“Ughhhh my dessert is covered in Palm Trees. My dog is covered in flower crowns. What is happening to the Underworld?” Yoongi lamented.

“You invited a Spring Goddess to live here, remember?” You giggled and kissed him on the cheek.

“Hmm...I suppose I did, didn’t I?” He turned to face you, cupping your face in his hands as he pressed his lips against yours. These past few weeks had been full of moments like these:the two of you not being able to get enough of each other. 

The sound of your lips leaving his made a slight sound. You turned and faced the palm trees.  “All right. I see what you mean. It does look almost tropical. So would you like menacing thorn trees? Some sad looking willows? Fly traps?”

He stepped behind you, moving your hair over so he had direct access to your ear. “I like the palm trees. After the party you can put them back. I don’t care if the dead people see them, it would probably comfort them actually. But for the other Gods and Goddesses, we do need to give off a more menacing, “hey don’t try to overthrow me” vibe.” He moved so he was next to you. “We've been at relative peace for centuries, but it’s always tenuous at best. Especially when you get  a group of Olympians together.” 

You put your hands on your hips, knowing he was right. “Ok Ok. May I?” You asked him, turning to him with your hands out. You always asked before you borrowed any of his magic to amplify yours.  Yoongi nodded and extended his hands.  You took them and began to use your magic to change the landscape. 

The palm trees began swaying and eventually became dust, their remnants blowing out across the Stygian Sea. The sand and black pebbles rose up and took new form, twisting into rigid thorny patches and brambles. They were three times the height of Yoongi. You wanted to make sure they looked impenetrable. This went on for several minutes before you began to get tired. Yoongi could tell before you and he yanked his hands away, causing an immediate loss of your power. You doubled over.

Yoongi caught you as you fell forward, placing his arm around you for support. “I’m sorry [Y/N], can’t you tell when you’ve used almost all your magic?”

You were breathing heavily, “No. Thanks for stopping me. It’s hard for me to tell when you’re amplifying” You stood up slowly. “Your power is like an ocean. Mine is like a well.”

Yoongi looked at you with concern. He barely felt a dip on his power when you borrowed some, but it seemed to always take an extra toll on you. He took off his cloak and placed it on the sand. He sat down on it to keep it from blowing away.  He spread his legs into a V and gestured for you to sit down in between them. “Come here.” He extended his hard to you.

Taking it, you sat down in between his legs, allowing him to wrap his arms around you. “You did a great job. Spiky trees look great.”

“Thanks. I’m thinking we can make a decorative path through it tomorrow. Guests will need to arrive at the castle by going through it.  I’ll need a fountain though. I can’t make one of those.”

“That’s a great idea. I’ll get you a fountain.” Yoongi said, resting his chin on your shoulder. He looked out along the horizon where the Stygian sea met the sky. He would get you anything you wanted. These past few weeks had been the best of his life.  

“Thanks.” You said quietly, enjoying the lull of the waves and the feeling of your body pressed up against his. The two of you sat in silence for several minutes. 

“You going to fall asleep?” He asked, pressing a kiss against your collarbone. Your whole body shivered.

A throaty laugh escaped you, “Not if you keep doing that.” You teased.

“Oh?” He responded, taking that as an invitation to continue. He placed another kiss along your collarbone and then moved up towards your neck. A soft moan escaped your lips.  He switched it to a gentle sucking motion.

“Yoongiiii…” You said quietly.

“Mmmm?” You heard and felt vibrate against you.

You turned around more, causing him to remove himself. You found his lips with yours and the two of you commenced kissing once again. You felt his hand slowly pull up your dress as though asking permission. You helped him, quickly pulling it up more so the fabric rested against your thighs. You had never been so glad that the shore was completely desolate. Yoongi’s hand rubbed against your thigh. 

“Is this ok?” He asked, pausing his kiss for a moment. 

“Yes,” you breathily agreed and resumed kissing him.

 His hand kept teasing around your panties. It took a great deal of self-restraint not to push yourself up against his hand. But you tried to remain grounded as you felt his hardness pressing against you from behind. You couldn’t believe that he felt this way about you. You felt so lucky.

Yoongi finally worked up the courage to hook a finger inside the side of your panties, gently feeling his way around. He was so afraid of messing this up, or doing the wrong thing. “Still good?” He asked, his voice sounding more like a growl at this point.

“Uh-huh,” you managed to groan out as Yoongi had started to draw circles around your clit.

He scissored his fingers on either side of your clit, causing you to shudder.

“So sensitive. Lean back a bit,” He wigged back with you following, relaxing up against him. You put your legs up, bending your knees and causing the fabric of your dress to become even more pushed up. You felt him gently explore your entrance, before pressing a finger inside of you. “Fuck.” You let out.

“All in good time,” He teased, his breath on your neck feeling extra hot.

He added a second finger, pumping them in and out while his thumb circled around your clit. Yoongi pressed kisses along your neck, alternating with sucking. You wished he was sucking something else, you found yourself thinking. “I could take you on the beach. Right here,” Yoongi said, beginning to feel the strain of himself pushing up against his pants. He wanted you so badly.

“Yes. Yes.” You found yourself saying. Yoongi removed his hand as you turned around to face him. You instantly connected your lips and straddled him, taking him by surprise. You felt him smile, as you kissed him. He reached a hand down the front of your dress, gently kneading your breast. You felt his erection pressing into you, causing you to grind down on him. 

He pulled away. “You are so beautiful.”

You smiled and ran a hand through his hair. You saw his eyes move from your face to the horizon. His smile dropped. “Fuck.” 

You turned around and saw the last remnants of the green light flash and the ships sailing on the horizon. You looked up to the sky and started laughing. “Ughhhh we lost track of time.” Yoongi rested his head against your chest for a minute. 

“Dammit.” You heard him say slowly as he pulled away, his face suddenly red.

You looked down and retied your bodice so your boobs wouldn’t flop out. “Hey, we can continue this later.” You stood up, fluffing your skirt back out.

Yoongi sat there for another minute, willing his hardness away. It barely worked but alas, the dead never stopped arriving. Death waited for no one. Even the Lord of the Underworld’s sex life.
