Hi there! I just stumbled upon your cozy blog thanks to a post mentioning that Viv will be working on a new series. ^^"
If it's true, then I'm worried just how she might do a terrible job especially since writing doesn't seem to be her specialty (like she's giving me Mindy Kaling vibes). She even announced planning to work on several more seasons of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss. Shouldn't she at least finish both shows before even moving to other projects? 🤔
I also think in my opinion that she'd work best as a t-shirt graphic artist for Hot Topic 'coz most of her projects felt like a random showcase of her OCs from high school. They're also overly designed and her humor is rather too juvenile than hilarious.
Sorry for the ramble, I just like to share my thoughts out there.
Dont worry about rambling Anon, ive done my fair share and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.
I agree on so many aspects of what you said.
Viv shouldnt be making anything new without finishing the already tanking series' she has. Hazbin is only going to get worse [as seen from the leaks] and Helluva is losing the most diehard of fans, attention. she's sinking her career quicker and quicker. She can't write, and even admits that herself several times. She steals from smaller artists, refuses to credit her artists and employees, is constantly into controversy after controversy, She cant grow up.
Its funny how you mention she gives a Mindy Vibe and i TOTALLY see it. Mindy went on a tirade about how people were shitting on Velma and Viv does the exact same thing, istg those 2 must be sharing a braincell.
Also yes the Hot Topic thing, i have my own 2 cents to put in there.
i swear this has a point to it just stick with me here. If it doesnt make sense to you im sorry, im not the greatest at explaining things.
I grew up in the early 2000s and 2010s, so Hot Topic and Spencer's were major hot spots for me, and lemme tell you. In those times, HT and Spencer's wouldve laughed at Viv for wanting to sell her cheap ass merch there. In fact, most merch sold there now, wouldnt have been, but ever since the big boom of indie creations; these stores ended up with different purposes.
HT never used to be a online merch store for indie creators, it used to be an actual punk store for punk and alt teens. Same with Spencer's but it was more for adults. You couldnt find things that werent punk or alt in regular stores thats why you'd go to HT or Spencer's.
Thats where youd get your AOT merch, Black Butler, Supernatural, Addams family, Jack Skellington, Band shirts like Korn, MCR, BVB, and Splitknot were sold there.
But now, its HH and HB merch. Fnaf, [im a fnaf fan before anyone comes for for that] and sparkle bs.
You cant find the punk merch you want, cuz its being switched out for Vivs bullshit and being buried in the back storages until they start having major sales to just get rid of it.
Now Spencer's' is being turned into the New HT, and HT is being turned into the kiddie emo version of Claires. its so fucking sad to watch.
My point to all this is.
Viv didnt need to sell her merch in HT.
HT doesnt need to be selling her merch to kids.
Viv shows are not made for kids, but yet she sells her merch at a teen based punk store.
HT doesnt need to be pandering to every indie creator that calls them to collab or sell their shitty 40$ t-shirts.
Viv doesnt need more money.
HT and Spencer's need to get their shit together before they go fucking bankrupt and we lose the only 2 punk-alt stores to exist physically.
Last i checked, BlackCraft Cult doesnt have an in person store.

On his face, a black eye. On his back, large bruises. Ali*, a young man in his early twenties, is terrified. The former Syrian soldier claims he was stopped a few days ago at a checkpoint near the village of Khirbet al-Ma'zah, close to the Mediterranean coastal city of Tartus.
“They told me, ‘You’re an Alawite pig!’ They treated me like an animal because I’m Alawite,” he said, speaking under the condition of anonymity for safety reasons.
In a secluded location away from prying eyes, Ali recounted being dragged off a bus by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly linked to al Qaeda) militants while on his way to seek the promised amnesty for ex-regime soldiers who had not committed acts of bloodshed or torture. Taken to a checkpoint along with seven others, he described being tied up, detained and beaten with fists, feet and iron bars. He endured five hours of torment before being dumped on the roadside.
“I didn’t want to be in Bashar’s army, but I had no choice. We were poor and they would have arrested my family,” he said, insisting he had never committed violence. “I don’t leave home anymore, especially after sunset. The masked men terrify us. I’m sure they’ll punish the entire [Alawite] community.” He referred to HTS checkpoint guards, most of whom wear masks or scarves that cover everything but their eyes.
'A climate of fear'
The city’s new Islamist rulers dismissed the claims. “There may be isolated incidents at checkpoints, but these are rare,” said Rahim Abu Mahmoud, an HTS official overseeing soldier reintegration in Tartus. “We make no distinctions between communities and our relations are good with everyone. Our issue is with those who have not regularised their status or hidden weapons. Others have nothing to be scared of. The issue is that a climate of fear has been fuelled by the spread of fake videos.”
Reports of insults, harassment, punitive raids, disappearances and murders have proliferated on social media since Assad’s fall. Videos allegedly showing HTS fighters humiliating, beating, or inciting violence against Alawites circulate without verification. While the UN works to corroborate such footage to prevent escalating sectarian violence, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights estimates that around 150 Alawites have been killed over the past month.
In Tartus, the Alawite stronghold, paranoia has taken hold. During the Assad dynasty’s 50-year rule, Alawites formed the regime’s backbone, with about 80% working for the state, many in intelligence, security, or the military. Their community make up about 10% of the general population and is often referred to as an offshoot of Shia Islam.
Now, many Alawites insist they too were victims of the regime. “In 2000, my father left the army because he couldn’t stand the corruption among senior officers,” said Hasan*, a 21-year-old engineer. “They even stole food meant for soldiers! His salary was only $25, but he had no choice.”
Assad and the ‘divide and conquer’ doctrine
Bashar al-Assad consistently portrayed himself as a protector of religious minorities, a rhetoric that intensified in 2011 with the rise of the Islamic State group and al-Nusra Front (founded by Ahmed al-Sharaa, better known by his nom de guerre Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, now Syria’s new strongman).
“We were all Syrians, but when the revolution began, everything changed,” Hasan said. “It started as a peaceful movement against Bashar. Then [Islamist rebels] began killing Alawites simply because they belonged to the same community as Assad,” he lamented, recalling relatives killed in Homs. “Assad did everything to amplify that divide. It was divide and conquer.”
When the regime fell, the euphoria was short-lived, Hasan said. "I always hated him, but I was scared. The population supported Bashar until three or four years ago," he added, referring to pro-Assad demonstrations in Sunni and Christian areas like Aleppo and Homs. "We were all scared because everything was dangerous. Just saying the word 'dollar' could land you in prison."
That fear has not disappeared under HTS rule. Despite unity messages from Syria’s new leader, Hasan, like many of his co-religionists, fears a "fitna", a term for sectarian strife.
“Only 10% of Alawites were corrupt, but they ruined life for the other 90%,” he said. "They harassed us too. If you had a foreign bank transfer, they’d freeze your account to take the money. Three years ago, I started using cryptocurrencies to work with American or European clients."
‘Hitler hated Jews, Assad hated everyone’
Ammar*, a young doctor, remains deeply anxious. “I don’t feel like a citizen,” he said. “I don’t have the right to be happy. We’re labelled as heretics (Alawism being a distant offshoot of Shiism). We’ve all been branded as pro-Assad. Many massacres he committed were portrayed as Alawites killing Sunnis. Now, they want to kill us.”
Ammar deliberately failed his medical exams for three years to avoid military service. In Syria, graduates had to serve at least two years, often far longer. "You go in not knowing when you’ll come out. Some stayed for ten years," he said. "We missed out on our youth. I feel like an old man trapped in a young body."
Ammar is convinced that those he once considered brothers will seek vengeance for the dictator’s crimes. "If I stay here, I’ll never be able to support my family or start one. It’s not only an economic threat but an existential one," he said. "Last week, I had to leave the governorate. I made sure my phone could livestream if anything happened to me. If I’m killed, I don’t want to be labelled pro-Assad. Call me an Alawite thug, but don’t call me pro-Assad. I’m not."
Ammar does not mince his words. Speaking calmly, he draws grim historical parallels to describe the "sadistic" Syrian tyrant. "Hitler hated Jews. Assad hated everyone. Stalin acted in the Soviet Union’s interest, but Assad didn’t care about Syria. He built a farm where we all worked to enrich him. He ensured that when he left, only hatred would remain."
The young doctor refuses to be a scapegoat. "Many regime war criminals were Sunnis: Ali Mamlouk, the intelligence chief; Asma, Bashar’s wife; Moustapha Tlass, the former defence minister ... Bashar al-Assad behaved like a monster not because he was Alawite but because he was a monster."
In the seaside town of Tartus, people are beginning to speak out. Razan*, a civil servant, already feels she has paid a heavy price. "My husband died because of Bashar al-Assad. He was serving in the army and was killed by extremist groups in Latakia in 2016. At his funeral, my son tore down the portrait of Bashar that was hanging up," she said tearfully, adding that her daughter never knew her father. "I've never had the slightest compensation."
Razan quickly regains composure before voicing her fear of retribution. "When HTS entered Tartus, I destroyed my husband’s photo. I was terrified they’d find it. He’s a martyr and they have their martyrs. I’m willing to forgive them for spilling his blood if they guarantee the safety of my two sons, who fled abroad to avoid conscription."
‘I’m Syrian above all’
While resentment towards the Alawites had always existed under the Assads, 13 years of war transformed it into hatred. For Hassan G. Ahmad, who insists on using his real name, this shift has been a double burden. "The hatred of this regime was not directed at any particular community. It was inflicted on anyone who opposed it, regardless of their religious or political affiliation," the 26-year-old said. "We must not forget that some Alawites participated in military operations against the Syrian regime. The Alawite opposition had chosen the political struggle, like Dr Abdel Aziz from Assad's home town. He has been detained for more than 12 years and we still don't know his fate."
The activist, who endured repeated imprisonment and torture between 2023 and 2024, added, "The Alawites arrested for political reasons were tortured far more than the others. They were considered traitors." As he talked, he mimed with a smile the tortures inflicted on him. "I still have nightmares about it, but I find solace in dark humour."
The Alawites have been "in the grip of an anxiety crisis since December 8 (the date marking the fall of Assad's regime)," he continued, rejecting the term "minority". “We need a government that includes all parts of society. Right now, it’s monochromatic. I’m not Muslim, Alawite, atheist, Sunni, or anything else. I’m Syrian, above all.”

Syria :: David Rowe
"If the United States was still going to be run by the competent next month, we would now be on the verge of destroying Russia as a competitor and letting Xi Jinping know how far he can go, along with ending the Iranian-backed opposition in the Middle East. The “authoritarian alternative to democracy” would be gasping for air. That may not sound “pretty” to political idealists, but since neither Nirvana nor Utopia is likely to be proclaimed in my lifetime, I damn sure prefer us to them.
Literally, the only thing that can now save Putin is the Orange Clusterfuck’s desire to surrender to his tender mercies and tear us apart because his sick, twisted psyche is so damaged by the fact civilized society saw him as the piece of shit he was born to be and left him with his nose pressed to a glass door that was never going to be opened to the likes of him. That we are expected hand this country over to traitors who campaigned on a promise to commit this destruction enrages me beyond my ability to put it in words."

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
December 8, 2024
Heather Cox Richardson
Dec 09, 2024
Late last night, the White House said in a statement that “President Biden and his team are closely monitoring the extraordinary events in Syria and staying in constant touch with regional partners.”
Early this morning, the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad fell to armed opposition.
According to Jill Lawless of the Associated Press, the forces that toppled Assad are led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, or HTS, a coalition of Islamic groups formerly associated with al-Qaeda’s branch in Syria and currently designated a terrorist group by the U.S. and the United Nations, although its leaders have tried to distance themselves from al-Qaeda.
President Bashar al-Assad succeeded his father to the Syrian presidency in July 2000, establishing a totalitarian dictatorship. In 2011, Assad cracked down on protesters who were part of the Arab Spring, sparking a civil war of a number of factions fighting Assad’s troops, which by 2015 relied on support from Russia and Iran.
That war has turned half of Syria’s prewar population of 23 million (a little more than the population of Florida) into refugees and killed more than half a million people. With Russian and Iranian support, Assad managed to regain control of most of the country, with rebels pushed back to the north and northwest.
A stalemate that had lasted for years ended abruptly on November 27.
Iran and Hezbollah have been badly weakened by the ongoing fight of Israel against Iran-backed Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. On November 27, Israel and Lebanon signed a ceasefire agreement that made it clear that Hezbollah had been tied down in Lebanon and that its ability to fight had been severely compromised. At the same time, Russia has been badly weakened by almost three years of war against Ukraine, and the Russian ruble fell sharply again in late November after additional U.S. sanctions targeted Russia’s third-largest bank, creating more economic hardship in Russia and undercutting Putin’s insistence that he is winning against the West.
When opposition forces began an offensive on November 27, they took more than 15 villages in Aleppo province that day. Journalist Lawless recounted a quick history of the next 11 days, recording how the insurgents swept through the country with little resistance, taking Syria’s largest city, Aleppo, on the 29th. The Syrian military launched a counterattack on December 1, but the insurgents continued to gain ground, and by December 7 they had captured Syria’s third-largest city, Homs. They announced they were in the “final stage” of their offensive.
Today, December 8, Assad fled with his family to Moscow, where Russian president Vladimir Putin has offered him asylum. As Nick Paton Walsh of CNN put it, “Without the physical crutches of Russia’s air force and Iran’s proxy muscle Hezbollah, [Assad] toppled when finally pushed.”
In Damascus, crowds are praying and celebrating, and opposition forces have liberated the prisoners held in the notorious Saydnaya military prison. More than 100,000 detainees are unaccounted for, and their families are hoping to find them, or at least to find answers.
Meanwhile, after Assad’s regime fell, the U.S. Air Force struck more than 75 ISIS-related targets in Syria. “ISIS has been trying to reconstitute in this broad area known as the Badiya desert,” a White House senior official told reporters. “We have worked to make sure they cannot do that. So when they try to camp there, when they try to train… we take them out.”
National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan explained at the Reagan National Defense Forum in Simi Valley, California, that the U.S. will work to prevent the resurgence of ISIS. It will also make sure “that our friends in the region, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, others who border Syria, or who would potentially face spillover effects from Syria, are strong and secure.” Finally, he said, the U.S. wants to make sure “that this does not lead to a humanitarian catastrophe.”
Speaking to the nation this afternoon, President Joe Biden announced: "At long last, the Assad regime has fallen. This regime brutalized and tortured and killed literally hundreds of thousands of innocent Syrians." He called the fall of Assad’s regime a “fundamental act of justice” and “a moment of historic opportunity for the long-suffering people of Syria to build a better future for their proud country.”
But it is also “a moment of risk and uncertainty,” the president said. He noted that the U.S. is “mindful” of the security of Americans in Syria, including freelance journalist Austin Tice, who was kidnapped in 2012 and imprisoned by Assad’s regime. “[W]e believe he is alive,” Biden told reporters. “We think we can get him back, but we have no direct evidence of that yet.”
Biden noted that Syria’s main backers, Iran, Hezbollah, and Russia, could not defend “this abhorrent regime in Syria” because they “are far weaker today than when I took office.” He continued: “This is a direct result of the blows that Ukraine [and] Israel” have landed on them “with the unflagging support of the United States.”
In contrast to Biden’s comments, President-elect Donald Trump’s social media accounts took Russia’s side in the Syrian events. Noting that the insurgents looked as if they would throw Assad out, Trump’s account said that “Russia, because they are so tied up in Ukraine, and with the loss there of over 600,000 soldiers, seems incapable of stopping this literal march through Syria, a country they have protected for years.” The account blamed former president Barack Obama for the crisis of 2011 and said that Russia had stepped in then to stop the chaos. The Trump account suggested that Assad’s defeat might be “the best thing that can happen to” Russia, because “[t]here was never much of a benefit in Syria for Russia, other than to make Obama look really stupid.”
“In any event,” the account continued, “Syria is a mess, but is not our friend, & THE UNITED STATES SHOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THIS IS NOT OUR FIGHT. LET IT PLAY OUT. DO NOT GET INVOLVED!”
In contrast to Trump’s focus on Russia, journalist Anne Applebaum, a scholar of autocracy, took a much broader view of the meaning of Assad’s fall. In dictatorships, she wrote in The Atlantic, “cold, deliberate, well-planned cruelty” like Assad’s “is meant to inspire hopelessness. Ludicrous lies and cynical propaganda campaigns are meant to create apathy and nihilism.” Random arrests create destabilizing waves of refugees that leave those who remain in despair.
Authoritarian regimes seek “to rob people of any ability to plan for a different future, to convince people that their dictatorships are eternal. ‘Our leader forever’” she points out, was the slogan of the Assad dynasty. But soldiers and police officers have relatives who suffer under the regime, and their loyalty is not assured, as Assad has now learned.
The future of Syria is entirely unclear, Applebaum writes, but there is no doubt that “the end of the Assad regime creates something new, and not only in Syria. There is nothing worse than hopelessness, nothing more soul-destroying than pessimism, grief, and despair. The fall of a Russian- and Iranian-backed regime offers, suddenly, the possibility of change. The future might be different. And that possibility will inspire hope all around the world.”

🔸️Halloween Fandom & RP Group
This is a group created by a passionate lover of Halloween, Autumn, and all things spooky, for all those who love the same.
Inspired by the Halloweentown movie series of the 1990's and 2000s, this is all meant to be simple and sometimes nostalgic fun, and a place for childlike enjoyment of the holiday and all the quirky things we love, a place for spooky escapism.
Join us in sharing our Halloween fandom, from shopping, crafts, decorating, news, movies, events, group activities, and everything spooky, even to our own open roleplay and short story series, come play in Halloweentown!
Join the fun!

Have fun with other fans of everything spooky! share art, show off our Halloween displays, share spooky news, chat about movies, etc!
Very casual and laid back, and you are welcome to join to check things out before getting involved. We also have no length requirements for RP responses, should you choose to RP.
If you choose to RP, you can use your own OC or any canon character of any media that isn't already taken! There is no limit on number of characters, and we have Tupperbox and Pluralkit in the discord server for anyone to use.
We are horror-friendly but not horror-centered, with individual categories for both in the server, hoping to cater to those who enjoy horror as well as those who simply love a playful style of Halloween!
We have an ongoing short story series in the works!
