in a big fuck you move to democracy and common sense, macron just named the new french prime minister and he's from the party that came 4th in the elections with 47 seats so way behind the left alliance which came first with 193 seats. his party is the historical right-wing party called the republicans - part of which made a formal alliance with the far-right during the elections which lead to their president locking himself up in their hq. he's the oldest pm ever, he's known for having similar views on immigration as the far right (macron definitely made a deal with the far right - which came third - so that they wouldn't vote to oppose his government), for wanting the retirement age to be even later and for voting against the decriminalization of homosexuality in the 80s. also the guy literally came third in his party's primary for the presidential election in 2021 so why the fuck is he the new PRIME MINISTER.
