11x06 Bombshells

I'm not really to season 11 yet, but I saw a gif from "Bombshells" (11x06) on Tumblr and wanted to know the context.

Consequently I watched the first scene and then I was all up in Discord pestering @sheronwrites with plaintive moans along the lines of "you HAVE to watch the first SCENE, just the first scene, it is Worth."

.... in a shocking plot twist, we watched the whole episode, and we really could not have picked a better episode for adorable Hawkeye and Charles shenanigans if we had tried. It was definitely Worth™.

The end of the opening scene in the mess is just too cute for words.

... with Hawkeye laughing hysterically and draped on Charles, who has this look on his face like "This is SO STUPID, why did I do this."

Charles, you did it because you have proven that you have about 0.2 seconds of resistance to anything Hawkeye tries to talk you into, and sometimes not even that.

Then later on in their tent, Hawkeye is wandering around ranting about the situation (he's now been appointed to run a committee to prepare for Marilyn's arrival) while Charles desperately tries to pretend he's reading and not trying not to laugh.

Just a man reading a book, paying no attention to the roommate behind him.

Hawkeye insists that it's THEIR problem, not HIS problem, but Charles is still paying more attention to the book than to Hawkeye, which is clearly not to be endured.

After Hawkeye tosses his book out of reach, he just grabs another one. This is clearly a man who has had to deal with this before.

Peak sibling behavior.

As usual resistance does him no good, because all Hawkeye has to do is say "Charles, please do the thing" enough times and Charles will do the thing.

Further highlights include Hawkeye towing him through the post-op doors by the front of his shirt.

And Charles's absolutely amazing face journey while he's listening to Hawkeye bamboozle Hollywood people on the phone. He's so CHARMED.

.... which immediately made me think of this line from a couple of seasons earlier in "Period of Adjustment":

"Hunnicutt was probably aiming for your mouth, but as usual, it was moving too fast."

Admit it, Charles, your life would be so much less interesting and fun without that beloved fast-talking idiot in it.

(Meanwhile in true MASH fashion, BJ is having an absolutely miserable time in the B-plot, poor guy.)

I know that realistically you can only fit so many movies into a list of approximately 100, but I cannot take that "How many of tumblr's favorite movies have you seen?" list that's been going around seriously because there are some truly egregious omissions.

Some of it is very clearly recency bias, which makes me wonder if the op truly wasn't on here in 2013 or so, but you're telling me you made a list of "tumblr's favorite movies" that doesn't include Pacific Rim or Mad Max: Fury Road? Because, like, I was there, Gandalf.

i’m gonna cry it’s raining right now and i just passed by a family where both parents were without an umbrella but their kid who couldn’t have been older than like 3-4 was proudly holding this GIANT umbrella whose diameter was as tall (if not taller) as the kid. both the parents were getting absolutely drenched but u could tell the kid was just so happy to have an “adult” task and carry the umbrella themselves and i think that sacrifice is what love is all about
