You were walking around at midnight in a somewhat busy town. The lights hanging around town were bright and colorful it was so pretty. Your demon form looked mostly human besides from your eyes and claws but you wore gloves and sunglasses so humans didn’t notice a thing.

You been in this town many times before so you knew where everything was. You knew where all the tastiest food shops were, all the high quality shops, you knew everything. You would always come here at night and wander around whenever you weren’t hunting for somebody to eat.

• Ivy hated you. She despised you. Ever since she laid her stunning brown eyes on you, she knew you were going to be trouble. And you certainly proved to be a thorn in her side — often stealing her spotlight effortlessly, even though she spent hours on her hair, make-up and clothes. And… AND… you decided to steal her baby brother away from her.

• Ivy would gag as Kai swooned over you. He was instantly infatuated, head over heels as if you were the most beautiful and handsome person in the world. Which you weren’t — she was, of course. No matter how much she told Kai you were a disgusting, stupid nerd, he just fell harder.

• Meanwhile she ignores the fact Kai has his wall covered in photos of you, and a collection of your stolen clothes. He was just in love right? Not obsessed at all!

• Kai begun bringing you over for dinner, and even sleepovers. As Kai and Ivy lived together, Ivy had to see your face nearly every day, and she made it known you weren’t wanted.

• The bullying got so bad that Kai got mad at her. At her?? That had never happened before — Kai hardly ever got mad at anyone, let alone his sister.

• “I’m just looking after you!” She’d cried, glaring at the floor. Hot tears fill her deep brown orbs.

• “I’m fine, Vee!” Kai had snapped back, arms folded over his chest. He towers over her small frame. “Stop treating me like a kid!”

• “It’s not my fault I’m protective! You—you know what happened in high school!” She was borderline sobbing, angrily. She remembers how hard it was for him, how people hurt him mentally and physically just because he was a he. She didn’t want you to hurt him, to tell his secret and potentially ruin the life he’d built up for himself over the last few years.

• Kai’s own brown eyes softened, and his shoulders slumped. “Y/n’s not like that… they… they know, Vee… And they love with either way.”

• She swallowed, blinking away the tears. With a soft nod, she wiped her eyes and disappeared into her room to clean up.

• Ivy’s harsh judgement instantly eased. As soon as she found out that you weren’t a threat to her brother, she began to warm towards you. A small compliment, here and there, perhaps defending you from a bully or two.

• She began to realise that — holy shit — her brother is right, you’re literally amazing. The more time she spends with you, the more she wants to coddle you, and protect you. She would start to follow you around, her obsession much more stalker-y than her sibling’s. She was scary, too, threatening to hurt people if they touch you.

• Kai wasn’t annoyed by her blatant crush. He loved you sooo much, and having a guard dog like Ivy around wasn’t too bad. Kai didn’t have the heart to hurt people, so if Ivy was offering…

• Kai was however a little weary when accepting Ivy as your girlfriend. Of course, it was quite strange, two siblings with the same person, but they set boundaries. Dates were separate, and they took turns sleeping with you in their beds. They made sure you knew they weren’t comfortable showing romance together, as they were far too close as siblings for that.

• But both of them would definitely defend you in any situation, Kai holding you whilst Ivy claws at whoever hurt your feelings.

• One time a guy decided to pin you against the wall — which ended up with Ivy pulling out chunks of his hair and scratching up his face, and Kai, with his popularity amongst his football team and fangirls, made the guy get bullied so badly he had to change universities. Kai didn’t like being petty but no one gets to scare his lover like that.

• The two are utterly devoted to you, and even though they could have literally anyone, they only have eyes for you. No other person could make them swoon like you do. You’re their beautiful, handsome, perfect darling, and nothing or no one can ever change that. Even you.

Big glass windows lined the walls, giving a wonderful view of the city lights. The ceiling was lined with fancy chandeliers, illuminating the room with a wondrous glow. You're thinking about how well the lighting will be for your pictures later on. A waiter leads you both to a table near the sides, a bit secluded but still gives a great view of the whole room. 

He pulls out your chair, sitting you down before he sits down himself. As you ordered your food, you both decided to indulge in conversation, like how your parents are inviting him over for a birthday party, or how your brother was asking him if he’d like to join them in a basketball match next week. 

This is the romance you’ve dreamt of since young. This is the life you’ve always wanted. But why, as you move your gaze to the table behind him, do your eyes hold a sense of sorrow and longing?

Your relationship with Katsuki Bakugo was one you’d call imperfect. He was loud, brash, and arrogant. He’d often be late to dates, coming home late at night and leaving early in the morning, and forgetting important dates because of the nature of his job as a hero.  As much as you tried to understand him, it was just too much. 

You couldn’t live like that anymore, living with uncertainty, living like he’s not even part of your life. Soon, one fight turned into two, two turned into three, and three turned into a screaming fest at 2 am. 

“Holy shit, Katsuki! Is it so much to ask for you to make just a bit of time for me?!” you screamed, tears threatening to fall. “Do I look like I can?! Hero work is already stressful enough, I don’t even get an ounce of rest before I’m called back again!” he shouts back, annoyance visible in his voice. 

You pace the room, tears running down your face. “Why are we still even in a relationship then?! I can’t live like this anymore, Katsuki! I can’t live like this anymore. I can’t live like you don’t even exist in my life…” you cried, grabbing a jacket and leaving through the front door of his apartment. 

“You're so in love that you act insane, And that's the way I loved you”

“Y/N! Wait!” Katsuki shouted, running after you, rain pouring down like it's insulting him. “Y/N, please!” he shouts, catching up to you and encasing you in his arms. “Please, don’t go…” He whispers, eyes looking into yours. And even though Katsuki was loud, brash and arrogant, you still loved him. He was still your Katsuki. So in a moment of weakness, your lips connected with his. 

You pulled away to catch your breath, looking him in the eye. As much as you loved the man in front of you, you still can’t see yourself living that life, not even with him. 

“I’m sorry, Kats. But I really can’t anymore. I love you, but this is goodbye.” You declared, placing one last kiss on his lips before turning back and walking away. He stared at your retreating figure, his own tears mixing in with the rain, weeping with him for the end of his 3 years with you. 

“He can't see the smile I'm faking, And my heart's not breaking”

His bright red eyes caught your (e/c) coloured own. He was… on a date? You looked at the person he was with, and your heart clenched. Why are you feeling this? You’re on a date of your own. “Honey, you good?” your partner asked, concern evident in his face. “I’m fine, just got distracted by the decoration” you lie, you feel guilty. It's been years, and he’s still lingering in your heart. 

You tried to ignore Katsuki at the other table, your partner making that a little easier. A waiter comes to your table and places down a dish in front of you, “Oh, we didn’t order dessert yet.” You said, motioning to the dish. “No, I actually did.” Your boyfriend interrupted, a smile on his face. 

The waiter opens the lid and you see a cake with a drawing of a ring. Oh fuck. You thought, your boyfriend got down on one knee, a box in hand. Your eyes widen, looking around, you spot those same red eyes, wide as well and staring back at you. 

Your boyfriend went on with his proposal speech, while your mind was running a mile a minute. You love him, but you’re conflicted… “Y/N, will you make me the happiest man and marry me?” and there it is, the question. 

“And I never knew I could feel that much, And that's the way I loved you”

You looked at him, still in shock. Your eyes drifted to the back, Katsuki was no longer looking at you or the scene, he had his full attention towards his date. And you realized, even if your heart still yearned for him. You will never go back, you can’t go back. 

You looked towards your boyfriend, a smile plastered on your face. This was your dream life, you’re living your fantasies. You have what you wanted, even if it wasn’t him. 

“Yes, Eijiro… Yes.” You answered.

1. Lauren Sinclair: OHH OUR QUEEN FRR she's such an interesting character, with her defined flaws and trauma! writing complex characters, especially mcs, is not easy at all (for me at least :P lmao) but the way it was executed for lauren? chefs kiss fr 9/10

2. Kieran White: how can one man be so sweetly soft yet intimidatingly hot at the same time??? moreover he's so fucking terrifying when he needs to holy shit. his character arc from being a cocky bastard (powerless reference to those who care hehe) with no affection for anyone in his heart in s1, to being this wholesome member of the apd gang who actually now cares for others was so satisfying to witness as well! aND THE WAY HES ACTUALLY SCARED FOR LAUREN'S WELLBEING??? 😭 9/10

3. Kym Ladell: UGH OK BADDIE I STAN YOU SO HARD. she's such a vibrant and fun character lmaooo i was literally craving for scenes with kym! shes so adorably immature as well, who definitely brings light into lauren, will, lukas and everyone else's dark life. her sass? TOP TIER I TELL YOU. (it's fighting for first place against lukas' sass fr). i just love how during times of crisis, she's actually mature and often takes command, being completely serious and concentrated towards her mission! talk about duality lmao. but ngl it's kinda sad how she uses this childish behaviour to hide her own pain of losing daena, and trauma over nearly losing her friends. shes just so brilliant 😭❤ 10/10

4. William Hawkes: ngl at first i thought will was just a buzzkill, but he's actually so sweet and caring, especially towards lauren and kym (tho idk if he'll ever admit to being constantly worried for his wifey, i mean, sergeant hehe 🤭) his story at home is also so sad, with his father being a hella sus estranged fella, his mother seeing nothing but his brother in him, and rafael fucking running away. seeing him cry over nearly losing his sister-figure (lauren) and wife (kym), and over rafael's betrayal made me sympathise with him. poor baby doesn't deserve it at all :( 8/10

5. Lukas Randall: omg the sass. the grumpy aura. the completely out of pocket death threats to the coworkers he absolutely loves to death. the badass-ness while taking down the phantoms at the warehouse. the only calm moments of him around lila (THEYRE SO FUCKIN CUTE 😭) and the legitimately sly happy look on his face while making kym do dumb shit for blackmail? top tier man, ill tell u that for free 🤣🤣🤣 he just needs more screentime and i would absolutely devour more of his screentime! 7/10

6. Lila Desroses: she's so cute and underrated i can't 😭 the way she's so nice and polite to everyone! and the way she cares for old mr grumpy cat over here, to the point she literally stayed by his bedside throughout the night when he was in a coma 😭❤ soph and eph, im begging you to please make her shine more just like the rest of the apd gang! but please for the love of mr brussel sprouts don't let anything bad or traumatic happen to her istg- 6/10

Belladonna Davenport: im not gay but goddamn. she's fine asf! especially when she's murdering people: sheesh. also her pink hair and makeup is legit so pretty, like girlie lend me your beauty secrets- but anyway, as a character, she's so fuckin unhinged it's actually funny. also her lil sibling-like banters with kieran? pure gold fr 😹 8/10

8. Detective March: this little bitch. he was so wholesome during his entire introduction, and then he goes out and reveals hes been siding with the fucking phantom scythe this whole time? and his reason is what - the royals suck and the apd is incompetent? i agree about the royals part, but apd being incompetent? omg i wonder how that couldve happened. totally not because of fucking traitors like you and that wimp harvey jabbering all their plans to the ps, right? lookie here guys, here goes another one of lauren's father figures down the drain, how fun. really hoping for ph to continue so i can see what truly happened with him on the ship's edge (who shot him, i wanna thank you.) 2/10

9. Captain Hermann: ugh i hate him and his attitude towards lauren. he may be good, but that doesn't justify him belittling lauren every chance he gets. the only thing that redeemed him was him promoting lauren to detective again. 4/10

It was such a fascinating take and I’ll admit I don’t know a ton about the Rangers so it was fun getting to know them through your portrayal of them. I kind of desperately want to pick your brain about the goalies especially now that Georgiev is in Colorado. The legacy of Lundqvist, the dynamic between Shesterkin and Georgiev. What was it like that last year in New York? It feels like you alluded to some friction between them and I kind of want to know more. There was A LOT of tension. And I can give you some of the backstory...

Sooo back in 2014, Henke was at his PRIME but hockey is a long game, and they knew that eventually they would need someone to replace him, so they draft in the fourth round, an incredible young goaltender from Russia. The plan is, that he'll develop in Russia for a couple of years, and then come and train and develop in New York, and as Henke grows older, the new up and coming goalie will train under him (and Benny obviously) and eventually take over as the starter, and it'll be a beautiful slow transition.

So, two years later, they're like "OK, Igor, time to be done with the KHL" and Igor is like "Nope, because I get paid a LOT here, and also my girlfriend who is a model, is here, and my boyfriend who is also a goaltender, is here... no."

So the rangers start talking to this undrafted goalie in the finnish league. He's pretty good, he's backed up the U20s russian team a couple of times, he'll do. He's a great gap filler, and they'll keep him to back up Hank for a year or so, and then send him down to hartford (AHL)

Except, well, Igor KEEPS saying no to coming over to New York, and this other russian kid? Turns out, he's better than expected? And is developing pretty well, and either Benny Allaire really DOES work magic, or the ghost of goaltenders past watch over the new york rangers or something along those lines, but anyhow, Georgie starts turning into a really good goalie, not a great one, but one that, with time, could be part of a good tandem with Henke. We're also going to note here that his name is Alexandar, but unlike a lot of russian speakers of that name, he doesn't go by Sasha, he prefers to be called Alex. He's REALLY introverted, like, INCREDIBLY introverted (side note, his instagram is the most pathetic thing in the world and if you go and look at it I promise you will want to give him a cuddle)

And for a couple of years, this works, really, really well.

And then Igor (and his boyfriend, and his girlfriend) decide to come over to New York. he's like HI, HERE I AM, THE PRODIGAL SON! I HAVE ARRIVED. And they give him until December to settle in in Hartford, to learn the different rink size, to learn english (something he doesn't actually need to do, despite what he says, watch his interviews when he was IN hartford, he speaks english just fine) and to get used to being in North America

And then, 6 days after his 25th Birthday, they decide to give Igor a try in Madison Square Garden. And just like he'd been utterly incredible in Hartford, he was utterly incredible 

Enter 2020, when covid-19 wasn't the biggest problem faced by the new york rangers management, because that was in fact what was referred to as "the three goalie problem"

They had, all three, Henke, Alex and Igor on the NHL roster, which wasn't the MOST stupid roster move I've ever seen them do, but it's up there. Every night, one would be in net, one would be on the bench and one would be a healthy scratch. Now in case you don't know this, goalies don't tend to do well if they have long periods without playing a game, it takes a special kind of goalie to be the kind of backup who plays 20 games a season... and none of these men are particularly it. Management know they can't keep all three of them, they're all too good to be playing in the AHL, but Henke isn't ready to retire yet, and he's supposed to be a ranger until he retires, and there's no way in hell they want anyone else in the in the league to get their hands on Igor, but also there's the issue that long term, Alex is a better option than Hank, who should be retiring in a couple of years

There's also the issue of personalities, as previously described, Alex is quiet, he prefers to read a book over hanging out with his teammates, and Igor can best be described as... a little shit. Igor slots in with the boys on the team, and particularly the russian speakers, very quickly, in a way that Alex never particularly seemed to. 

Now, the rangers management are bought a little time by two things, the first being that Igor sadly breaks a couple of ribs in a car accident, putting him on the IR for six weeks, the second being that the international pepperami put the entire league on hold. When the league introduced the "unlimited goalies" rule for the rosters taken into the bubble for the bubble playoffs many of us joked that it was purely for the new york rangers because there was no way of knowing who the heck to take. 

At the end of that summer, Hank was the one traded (to the Washington capitals (for whom he never actually ended up playing)). Now, personally my theory is that both Igor and Alex would have rather it was the other traded not Henke. Igor has made no secret of the fact that growing up, his favourite goalie was Henrik, and he was delighted to be drafted by the rangers, specifically because he would get to learn with Henke. Alex on the other hand has worked his ass off to get to where he is, and I can't imagine how it would feel if some smug irritating (I love igor, but he is very smug, and if his smile wasn't so charming, some of his behaviour would be very irritating) upstart turned up and was a lot better at your job was you. This is also the point where it's worth noting that in interviews, Igor consistently refers to Alex as Sasha, something that we know Alex doesn't like. 

Igor and Alex played together for two seasons with Igor as the clear starter, they were, due to some other factors a rather tense two seasons (this is already far far too long, but some time I might write out the whole saga with tony de-angelo, but it's notable, that our quiet, introverted Alex got into a fist fight). Eventually Alex got traded to Colorado where he is playing as the starter, and honestly, it's where he deserves to be, and I hope he is adored there because I have a really really soft spot for Alex.

Igor goes on to play with Halák for a year, which works, fine, and since then, has played with Jonathan Quick, which works TREMENDOUSLY possibly because the pair of them bond over fangirling about Henke.

This got seriously long, but I hope it helped give some context? For sure it should explain why I write Igor and Alex as having a very terse relationship at best, they're a great choice for enemies to lovers imho lolll

So I absolutely adore the Heartsteel skin line, and for Aphelios, Kayn, and Yone, their Heartsteel skins are arguably my favorite skins of theirs (especially Yone’s Prestige Heartsteel skin). HOWEVER. I want to talk about some other amazing skins too. Three of the ones I’ll mention come from the same skin line, but listen, it’s a beautiful line. Also note: These are based on the splash art. I know some of the aesthetics change when translated to a player model. Ok let’s GOOOOO!

Aphelios: Spirit Blossom Aphelios

I love the COLORS of this skin. I love Spirit Blossom Aphelios’ hair design (like damn Phel go off with the man bun/small pony I see you), outfit/accessories, the markings on his face, and how his horns are opposite to Alune’s. (Also can we discuss how Alune also looks so pretty here like omg. I’m so glad they made sure she fit into this as well.) But Aphelios just looks softer than some of his other skins and it’s an interesting vibe from him. I dig it!

Ezreal: Faerie Court Ezreal & Prestige Heavenscale Ezreal.

(Listen I genuinely can’t fucking pick between them so he gets two.)

THE OUTFIT (with all its wing motifs). THE WINGS. THE PINK HAIR. HIS expression!! I love the redesign of his gauntlet as well. Another thing that I really enjoy is how they managed to keep his face markings and make them unique. His face markings are a trademark element of Ezreal’s base skin so I’m glad they kept those here. AHHHHH HE JUST LOOKS SO GOOD. This is just such a fun reimagine for his character.

This might be one of his two newest skins but holy fuck it’s already one of my favs. His HAIR. MY GOD IT’S SO GOOD?? His pose and expression exude so much power and confidence. His gauntlet with the draconic claw and his horns is just so fun. Also that OUTFIT? His outfit genuinely looks amazing. The color combo of light blue, maroon, and gold is just EXCELLENT. Again, they also kept face markings of some kind, even if they moved from his cheeks to his forehead.

Kayn: Snow Moon Kayn

Kayn’s skins are always fun because you really get 3-in-1 with Kayn, his shadow assassin form, and Rhaast. I love a good black and red (with gold accents) theme and the Loki-esque horns, as well as the addition of the furs on his basic Kayn form are really cool. And the shaddow assassin’s hair. My goodness I do love a man with long white hair 😂 (this will appear again later). I love the color contrast between the shadow assassin and Rhaast designs as well. Also Rhaast looks badass. Terrifying, but still badass.

K’Sante: Prestige Empyrean K’Sante

This skin is so fucking cool. We get to see his face here unlike the original Empyrean K’Sante skin. I love the color scheme with the purple, gold, white, and pink as well as the designs on the clothes/his weapons. The little pink on his face also adds a really small but eye-catching detail that I very much enjoy. Also Lil Nas X helped design this skin and I think that’s so fucking cool.

Sett: Spirit Blossom Sett

Ok listen yes a bit of the reasoning for all these is that the characters themselves look fine as fuck. But holy shit look at Sett here. LOVE his long white hair (hehe what did I say it’s a pattern) with his ears here. That outfit and the accessories are stunning. And again the color palette for the spirit blossom line is just so pretty. Sett just looks so in charge and powerful here. He really is the boss. (Also shoutout to the [I believe] first instance of canon SettPhel which happened in the lore/voice interactions for this line.)

Yone: Spirit Blossom Yone

Look at him. LOOK AT YONE. There is something about Yone with longer white hair that is just so…right, even if it’s tied back or braided. All the beautiful shades of purple in his outfit too! I love. I also like how, besides the horns and his hands/arms, he seems almost human and he’s not stuck to his mask like in his base skin (though I do love his base skin). He also just gives off really pleasant vibes in this. I cannot explain it lmao.

Glad you enjoyed some of the interactions between the ROs/characters in the update, it was a lot of fun getting to write some of these dynamics after building up to them in earlier chapters. A personal fave was writing Tobin's locker room scenes, and G/Rayyan being soft, and Sam's reunion :)
