Victoria Mortis (1921) "Oil on panel, 45 x 49 cm" [Private collection] -- Owe Zerge (Swedish; 1894 - 1983)
Exhibition: Liljevalch's Art Gallery, Stockholm, 'The Salon,' 1922, cat. no 666 (listed as owned by Herr Hedstrand, Hälsingborg).
Owe Zerge was a Swedish artist born in Kristianstad in 1894. Between 1914 and 1915, Zerge studied at the Althin Painting School in Stockholm. This was followed by the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, where he studied for Olle Hjortzberg and Oscar Björck from 1915 to 1919. In the same period, he also attended Axel Tallberg's etching school for a short time. This was followed by study trips to Italy and France, where he studied under André Lhote. Zerge made his debut at the Salon de Paris in 1921 and the following year he exhibited at Liljevalchs Konsthall in Stockholm. He specialized in portraits, figure motifs, flowers and landscapes, and in recent years his portraits have attracted attention; they are characterized by their sharpness and details and are almost photographic.
Owe Zerge is represented in several museums in Sweden, including Gävle Museum, Kristianstad Museum and Tomelilla Museum.

45 / In Sweden
45/ In Sweden

Answer
In Hälsingborg in Sweden, Fred in his turn praises him the youth hostels as this one rented him the train the same morning in Copenhagen whereas he is reluctant there, preferring to stay with the inhabitant.
Finally, it was not the good option: firstly the Villa Thalassa was located far from the center on a hill in front of the sea - certainly idyllic place for the holiday makers who like the beach; secondly French people sharing their room, did not stop chatting as well as coming and going, late in the evening.
Fred, in order to fall asleep, had to get angry when one of them came to sit on the edge of his bed.
The next day Alain, a native Parisian who hates the countryside, has only one idea: get out of this place as quickly as possible to look for a room in the center among the natives.
Fred having few arguments, outside the framework and to change bungalow but still living far from the city center, he agrees with Alain's opinion.
The latter being particularly good at spoken English following vacations and stays in London and England, he has no difficulty in deciphering the classified ads and contacting the correspondents on the phone for further information.
Soon enough, they wander around the city and find themselves in the home of a Russian language teacher on the 5th floor of a posh building at the beginning of the 19th century, on the edge of the city center, facing a square from which, behind the trees, school or college-style buildings appear: Once the introductions are made, weighted down with a little mandolin tune played by her boyfriend reminding him of his native country of which he does not fail to tell them a few anecdotes, here they are settled in a room of the apartment with two beds for a week, enjoying the common areas such as the bathroom & toilets as well as breakfast.
Back in front of the red brick castle with the big belfry of the city hall where they stumble, including Fred on the inscription "NARVA" engraved on one side on the pedestal of the equestrian statue of a rider in costume, sword out & pointed to the sky ... Marshal Magnus Stenbock marked on the other side of the base:
"Quesaco?" they say to each other. »
According to their leaflet he participated in the victory of the battle of Narva, a city in north-eastern Estonia against the Russian army, confirming the change of culture and continent they had made.
Then, they go into this kind of dead end blocked by the replica of the old fortified castle, from which only the original keep emerges, in search of small restaurants or self-service restaurants hidden under the arcades of buildings lining the alleyway to feed themselves during their stay.
"After Hälsingborg, are you still planning to go to Stockholm? asks Alain.
    - No, not any more! Before, yes!... You see the towers of this old fortress that block the street, also put an end to my journey to go further. Moreover, Stockholm, according to the brochures I have seen, is hardly different from the cities I have crossed from the north of Germany.
    - What stops you? Because I'm thinking of going to Malmö but only for a day by train to Malmö and back.
     - Just for a visit?
     - That's right!
    - As for me, I've reached the end of my trip. Of course, the dam formed by the towers and arches of the castle are symbolic but I closed the loop if I may say so by going along the coast in a certain way from Ghent through the largest European or even world dyke forty kilometers long in the north of the Netherlands to land on the edge of another continent that would also deserve exploration. I'm thinking of Stockholm of course but also Helsinki to Lapland and many other places but I don't have the time; I must be ready to go back to work before the end of August.
   - I understand. You had the opportunity to see a maximum of things and to meet people in the Youth Hostels following your logic of the circumference of North-Eastern Europe, especially Flanders, the Netherlands and then the north of Germany to finish in Scandinavia whereas I by train I made some stops to visit monuments, museums etc.; it is different than being in contact with people if not with the land I would say or the environment.
"But I love travelling by train. I often take bunks and I feel at home. So I go down to see something and sometimes I come back up with a meal and drinks and then the train starts again. I feel like you're not on earth but in a ship on rails. On the other hand, you hardly meet anyone; people don't confide in anyone except a few travelers who are often in their bubble and don't really want to share. That's why now I hope to meet as many girls as possible," he says with a laugh.

Mellanfjärden Beach, Sweden (No. 2)
The earliest mention of heels may be in the 9th-century English poem Widsith, which speaks of a people called Hælsings and ruled by an otherwise unknown fairytale king named Wada. The name Hälsingland is first mentioned by Adam of Bremen at the end of the 11th century as Halsingland in connection with the king. The landscape is also mentioned in the Florence List, originally from 1103, in its Latin form "Helsingia".
Hälsingland is a household name and has the meaning "land of hälsings". Hälsing in turn has been interpreted as a combination of the word neck and the posterge,'inhabitant'. What the neck means has been debated, however, it has nothing to do with the body part. The interpretations presented have concerned either a narrow part of water (compare with Helsingborg-Elsinore),that is, a narrow watercourse, or a narrow piece of land. Several waterways have been developed, such as three bays that in ancient times penetrated the landscape (Alir, Sundhed and Nordanstig) but also the oath in Sundhed has been indicated as possible root. The most common view, on the other hand, is that the neck referred to is the Gulf of Bothnia and that the population who lived along its shores, on either side, were half-asleep. It has also been pointed out that the narrowest part of the Gulf of Bothnia is called the Kvarken, that is, the "throat". The development from Halsing- to Helsing- stems from the so-called i-omljud (compare with the historical foreman Jamt- in Jämtland) and today's spelling with ä tribes from the beginning of the 20th century because the letter was then "modärn". In contrast to Helsingborg (which for 60 years was spelled Hälsingborg),the spelling of Hälsingland has not changed back.
Hälsingland also has a country name man that Snorre Sturlasson tells about in his Heimskringla (Håkan the Good's tale) from the 13th century. Tore Hälsing (Old Norse: Þórir helsingur)was the grandson of Ketil Jamti (Jämtland's country name man) who was forced to flee east through the forests after being accused of manslaughter. He settled there and later many followed; the land that stretched to the coast was called Helsingjaland. He later got his revenge when he was appointed king of Jämtland and more parts. He was certainly part of his kingdom.
Hälsingland is unique in Sweden as it is the only landscape name used as profanity, a euphemism for hell that has been proven at the earliest in the 1690s.

The Visby class was a Swedish World War II destroyer class. During the years 1942–1944 four ships, Visby, Sundsvall, Hälsingborg and Kalmar, were built and delivered to the Swedish navy. The ships were a part of Sweden's military buildup during the war. Under this period the ships were used as neutral guards and escort ships. In 1965 the ships were modified and rebuilt as frigates. Two of the ships were decommissioned in 1978 and the last two followed in 1982.  (source: Wikipedia)

The continuation of the LeMonde blog:

Helsingborg, Sweden
A gloomy day in a quiet and lovely town of Sweden. -aeL ❤ “Helsingborg is one of the oldest cities of what is now Sweden. It has been the site of permanent settlement officially since 21 May 1085.   Helsingborg’s geographical position at the narrowest part of Øresund made it very important for Denmark, at that time controlling both sides of that strait.” -wikipedia…
