thirsty under $30
Usually I like to educate people about styles and grapes you can then go find on your own, since finding a specific bottle can be an issue depending on what your local wine store happens to have. But lately I had a bunch of good reds under $30, which can be hard to find. And in that spirit, I threw in some whites under $30 as well. the reds Montecalvi Chianti Classico 2020 $29I feel like most…

White Dreams
A wine of shocking spirit and verve: where the grassy lemon leaves off and the brilliant floral begin is a vague region on the palate, with each crescendoing onto the other in masterful balance and flavor-packed decisiveness. At warmer temperatures it is rich and round, filling the nose and tongue with solid thrusts of butter and sprite–cooler it churns acid into the fruity fray, the shriek of…

Whites and Rosés Wines of Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages AOCs for the Summer
Whites and Rosés Wines of Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages AOCs for the #Summer. @Vinsrhone #winelover #sommelier
Louis Bernard Cotes du Rhône Blanc 2017 with wine in glass We are now enjoying nicer summer weather. It’s time to get out onto the patio and enjoy some rosé and white wines. While you may think of Rhône wines as being Syrah or red blends, this region also produces white and rosé wines. Here is a press release I received talking about these Rhône wines. ~~~~~~~~~ This summer, treat yourself to a…

I want your opinion on the cod boys, what's everyone's favorite drinks? Who's snobby about it and who will drink literally anything as long as it gets them drunk. Which one is a wine snob and which one drinks straight vodka ??
i love this so much, op!!
Ghost: drinks Bourbon, likes it neat (room temp, and nothing else) in a glass. would probably drink Lucky Seven Spirits "The Jokester" 6 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey or Wild Turkey 81 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. might enjoy a pint of Guinness. doesn't really drink much else. dislikes tequila.
Price: scotch, likes it neat with a little bit of water on the second sip, and a pint. would probably drink Johnnie Walker's Red Label (occasionally splurges during the holidays and buys himself the coveted and rare Blue Label; the ones in his possession are prized. if he ever offers you a glass of this, know you're special to him) or Ballantine's Finest Blended Scotch Whisky. His favourite pint would either be Peroni or San Miguel. a bit of a snob in the sense that he won't drink anything else. hates vodka. don't even ask him to drink any.
Soap: whisky, scotch, and pints. He isn't too picky and will drink whatever he feels like when he's out. would probably drink the Famous Grouse, or Crown Royal Canadian Whisky (even though his Scottish friends rib him for being a traitor). he would drink what is on tap if they didn't have scotch ale. dislikes gin.
Gaz: wants to like beer, but he just doesn't. prefers mixed drinks, especially vodka. likes sherry, too. a little bit of a sherry snob and despite what he says, only goes to this one tapas in Spain for the sole fact they serve the best sherry. will drink whatever gets him drunk, but is learning on how to refine his palate under Price's tutelage. and the fact that the man is never too far away from glass of scotch. enjoys Gonzalez Byass Apóstoles Sherry 30 Years or Don Benigno Cream Sherry. for mixed drinks enjoys vodka cranberry, Pimm's, Sherry negroni. his most coveted drink is NV Fernando de Castilla Singular Oloroso Sherry.
Alejandro: a snob when it comes to tequila. he only drinks extra añejo. he drinks a glass with his dinner and does it the proper way: small sips, neat. he always has a bottle of Siete Leguas D’Antaño extra añejo and Maestro Tequilero tequila añejo classico on hand. drinks Mexican wine as well. MD Vinos – Cabernet Sauvignon (red) and La Cetto – Sierra Blanc Sauvignon Blanc (white). his most coveted drinks are Tears of Llorona Extra Añejo and Don Julio Ultima Reserva.
Rodolfo: he doesn't drink it straight too often, and prefers cervezas or mixed drinks. enjoys Michelada, wine, beer, and tequila. would drink Monte Xanic – Grenache Rosé Wine, Indio or Bohemia (beer), Jose Cuervo Reposado (tequila), and Cantaritos made with Milagro Silver. enjoys the holidays the most when he can buy Noche Buena.

i know i might be breaking like, fandom customs by putting TWEOS! Adrien into the most Chat Blanc of Chat Blanc situations and then refusing to Chat Blancify him. sorry, it's a condition.
...but like, hopefully over 47 chapters now, i've been able to convince you guys that his first resort would ABSOLUTELY be drowning out his fucking feelings with alcohol and wallowing in his own misery. your adrien is out there destroying the moon, MINE is crying in his bathtub with half a bottle of Grenache wondering if it'd be sexier to set himself on fire or stab himself to death.

So I have to ask. You post lots of food stuff, which means you know food things. Do quiche and wine really go well together? Because if so, I have PLANS for tonight.
Pfft. I do indeed like to cook, and I am actually the sister of a winemaker, so I can say with relative confidence that quiche and wine do pair really well. You want something bright to cut through the quiche's richness - if you're going white, a Sauvignon Blanc or a good Riesling is probably your best bet, and if you're going red, something with high acidity like a Pinot Noir or Grenache would be good. Or, if you're feeling very fancy, champagne and quiche is a killer combo.

flexing for fall
Normally by this time of the year I’m settling into a nice groove of light reds. But this fall we’ve seen a wild swing of temperatures, with some days a crisp 50 and other days hitting 80 (even in the end of October). And it always seems to be raining too. So, I’ve been reaching for almost every type of wine—all styles, and from all over the world too. Rosé • Alma Negra Brut Nature Rosé:…

Vectored White
Bottled in shouldered dead leaf, I actually popped and poured before I realized it was a white and drank my first tastes at cellar-temp. A quick trip into the freezer and it comes back probably a lot more as the winemaker intended–still mid-60’s though. But I don’t think it’s SB. Gonna go with Viognier and GB as my first guess, with the latter dominant. Clean and bright, though bogged down in…

okay i need wine recs now 🙏
What kind of wine do you like? Do you like reds? whites? rosés? sweet or more dry?
My preference is dry, crisp rosés and reds that are more full-bodied and balanced (so medium tannins, and mediumly dry). My two absolute favorite red varietals are Malbecs and Tempranillos (popular in Spain and can be hard to find in the US unless you're in like a specialty wine shop. they seem to also be more popular/common in southern california probably because the climate is closer to the climate of spain). I think these are both excellent varietals for anyone just trying things out and testing their palate because they're usually very well-balanced so you won't get the overwhelming tannins of a cab (which are SO SO popular here in northern california) or the...frankly boringness of a pinot noir (i'm sorry pinot noir lovers....i've drunk like 3 pinot noirs in my life that I can actually say i enjoyed...they're just so flat to me...) Zinfandels are very VERY hit or miss for me and I don't really like most Merlots. The wine club I subscribe to does a lot of varietals that are harder to find on grocery story shelves like Cab Franc, Petit Sirah, Garnache/Grenache, Petit Verdot, a lot of which you'll find in red blends but rarely find a single varietal wines.
If you have Trader Joe's where you live I actually think their wine selection is not bad for a mid-tier grocery store and recommend the Kono sauvignon blanc if you want a cheap, light, refreshing white wine with tropical vibes. It's a go-to for a warm evening. They also have some pretty good rosés from what i remember but it's been a while since i bought any from them because i now live like 2 blocks from a wine shop.
when in doubt though just do what i do and pick whatever wine has the prettiest label
#but yeah feel free to come back with more specific requests and I'll do my best#but at least where i live wine is very local and i don't drink a lot of imports so i'm not sure i'm the best resource for recs!#sibyl answers#anon#wine talk 🍷
