Greek Apologies
I keep hearing people say that Odysseus never apologized properly to Poseidon but in the Greek way he did.
Basically the Greek word that apology is derived from- Apologia means “Speaking in Defense”.
Basically the Greeks would explain why you did what you did while expressing sympathy and remaining respectful.
The reason why Poseidon didn’t accept the apology was because Odysseus permanently crippled Poseidon’s son which was like, a great disgrace for that time period- it would’ve been more honorable to kill Polyphemus.
But anyways- my whole point was that Odysseus DID apologize correctly but due to the disgrace of what Odysseus did, it’s why Poseidon was so angry and said, “This totally could’ve been avoided had you just killed my son.”
This is why Odysseus was quiet when Eurylochus apologized for the wind bag- because he didn’t apologize correctly per the time period, he just said “I’m so sorry, forgive me.” He didn’t give a defense or reasoning, he just begged to be forgiven.

So with all this talk of the threads of destiny in the latest episode, I made a joke about the night sisters being after the three fates…
IT WAS A JOKE… except apparently I was right?!?!????
Cause these three ladies here:
Tumblr media
Are named: Klothow, Aktropaw, and Lakesis
As in: Clotho, Atropos and Lachesis (the three fates from Greek mythology!!!)

When I hear some of my mythology fanfiction readers comment on my take on Odysseus and say "oh my you write him so well" I feel so ecstatic and happy and I cannot thank you enough guys! 😊 you are all awesome 🫶
But...
I realize more and more that the reason it happens is probably not my love for the classics but rather that I am an annoying little bitch like him who just asks for it sometimes 🤣🤣🤣
And when I realize that and still get happy when people think I am achieving what I want to achieve when I write and transfer I am like...
Yup...makes sense!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

I know people are talking (specifically) about my fics, and they are allowed to. I know they are dark, but I have a very long narrative reason for my Zeus/Apollo tag, and the grossness of it. It’s supposed to be gross. It’s supposed to make you uncomfortable when you read it. I’m not going to spoil my story for people who are enjoying my stories. I understand they are not for everyone, and that is perfectly understandable to me.
That being said, if the people who are specifically talking about my works would like to understand more of what I am talking about, please read below. I KNOW it is dark, I do not want you to read it if you do not want to. I just want you to perhaps understand that not everything is a dark fantasy or for reasons that are inherently sexual.
Spoilers Below for my Readers
I feel the need to say it because my story will end up as a positive Zeus & Apollo. The Zeus in my story is not actually Zeus. He is being impersonated by another character and has since Apollo came under his house for thousands of years. (This is the darkest timeline). But real Zeus does exist, and he is not evil, he cares for Apollo deeply but has been unable to save him. This is a cosmic battle against those who want and hold power and those who want a peaceful world. Its about the horror of abuse because often powerful people abuse it monetarily, sexually, morally.
Most of you won’t care, but I just wanted to clarify for the people who are upset.
This whole story relates somewhat to personal experience. I was a member of a religious cult that my mother was sexually abused in, and she brought my sister and I into this environment as well. I have since escaped and no longer am able to speak to family members who are still in. I will never see my sister again, she is trapped in another country far away from me as Apollo is trapped away from his mother in my stories. I was abused for years because one man and his family manipulated vulnerable people. My mom died from lack of health care, my grandma died from lack of healthcare, and so many of my friends k*lled themselves because they thought they weren’t good enough for that god and that man.
I put Apollo through it because I went through it, and I want him to defeat his tyrant in a way that I will never ever be able to.
I am sorry if my story bothers people, but that is why I tagged as appropriately as I was able to. I put warnings at the beginnings of every chapter. I do not want people to read it if they do not want to. I just want people to understand that my story may not necessarily be for everyone, but there are other people who do like my stories inspite of or perhaps because of their darkness.
You are allowed your opinions, but I am also allowed to respond.

valgrace except they’re set in the if we were villains universe. leo is oliver and jason is james and when it all comes down to it, leo will never escape being the one who suffers first in order to save jason from that fate. but it would never be enough because after leo serves his time, he would come to find out that he lost jason anyway.
leo would never regret it either. all he’s regretting is losing time he could’ve had if things had gone differently. if the circumstances allowed them to be happy.

So he’s that Manwhore suitor thing. I had different drawings but I didn’t like the way he looked when I tried to draw an actual person. I had to draw a hoe because I needed an excuse for it to be like “oh he stole someone’s farming materials” or some shit or I’d probably get a detention 😒
Now I kinda wanna draw him with that one anime girl pose where he’s trying to hold down the front of his “skirt” while the wind blows it up.
Oh he is glorious. Him and all his sluttiness. The hoe is actually really smart though LMAO god if only he was with Odysseus and his crew. As he "There are other ways" his way to Zeus, everyone else might've stood a chance.

I just realized that Kaos tried so hard to turn Orpheus and Eurydice into Helen and Menelaus.
That reminds me of how ppl also try to write Hephaestus and Aphrodite as Helen and Menelaus.
(Again, is true love really a boring plot line nowadays? Man, Let Eurydice like her husband.)
Yeah the uh. “Sacrificing Loyal Boyfriend /Evil Cheating Girlfriend Who Doesn’t Deserve it” trope. Done to a couple who in the myths just really loved each other. Boo 👎👎👎
The thing is the premise was a bit promising at the start; Orpheus going to the Underworld for a Eurydice that has fallen out of love for him. While watching them I found myself asking questions like: Would you fight death itself for someone even if you knew they wouldn’t do the same for you? If they didn’t love you the way you love them? The answer being yes is essentially Menelaus’ drive, because to Menelaus, especially to Menelaus, Helen was worth fighting for. It’s why he (all heavily morally questionable aspects of it aside) wages war and all its consequences to get Helen back home. Love is a strong motivator, thorns and all. The only difference between Menelaus and Orpheus is Menelaus wielding a spear and a thousand men to prove it while Orpheus had only his lyre and his words as a great poet.
AND THE POINT, THE POINT of the Orpheus Eurydice myth is even if their love was doomed, even if he knew the ending, Orpheus would have still loved her, he still would have tried to traversed the Underworld for her, and he still would have looked back, because he loved her. Most accounts have Eurydice die shortly after their wedding— they never even had a chance to settle down, to have a family, to grow old together. The grief of that pain to be translated through song was enough to melt a King’s heart.
Eurydice in the myths was worth fighting for. Eurydice in the show however? Didn’t even seem to care about Orpheus at all. Like not even as a friend. The two episodes I’ve watched had Eurydice being so good at faking being in love Orpheus dedicates songs to her. Despite what we see that she never makes an actual effort for Orpheus. How do you sing your heart out for a woman who doesn’t even remember your favorite cereal? It’s just so laughably bad and written with no care.
As for Hephaestus/Aphrodite… I can see the temptation to make them Like That but it just isn’t comparable. Helen leaving Troy (either via force or willingness) leaving Menelaus and Hermione behind is too different from Hephaestus learning of Aphrodite's infidelity by lying to him about Eros’ (and seemingly Harmonia’s) parentage. Helen could have made an impulsive decision, could have agreed to it only to regret it or maybe she wasn’t given a choice, but it's leagues better than Aphrodite lying straight to Hephaestus’ face, even if she regrets it. Just let them divorce!!!

*lovingly tackles Aine*

Last week, my beloved mutual @ainescribe surprised me with Savior! Darling fan art and AHAI9232@2-!/! CRYING SCREAMING I WANT TO LOOK AT THIS ART AND WORSHIP YOUR VERSION OF SAVIOR THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BLESSING ME WITH YOUR ART—
*clears throat* Anyway, now that I finally have the time to properly sit down and comment on the fan art, I’ll do just that. Feedback will be in the tags and it will be unhinged. Once again, thank you so much to Aine for drawing this <3
#feedback#fan art#ainescribe#AIIINE ;-; once again. thank you so much!! it rlly means a lot to me that you enjoyed my writing and felt inspired to draw this :'>#and as someone who loves fashion and character design. it's so so interesting to analyze your version of savior#there's so much symbolism and visual storytelling in each sketch/ outfit and i shall now proceed to pick apart each detail as best as i can#her snezhnayan fit.....god i love it. it's regal. distinctively snezhnayan. and draws attention to her--and you just know that was pierro's#intention when he dressed her in those garments. IT'S JUST SO...!! savior's wardrobe scrubbed clean of her original culture and preferences#replaced with the foreign garments of her captor's nations.....in line with this. i love how her kokoshnik and khaenri'ahn earrings are big#and attention-grabbing. you can't look at her without taking note of those accessories. it begs the question:: how many times has savior#looked at the mirror after being dressed up in snezhnaya and was unable to recognize her own reflection?? :'>#also shoutout to some details aine shared with me: 1) the face marks are inspired by weeping angels 2) the kokoshnik was traditionally worn#by married noblewomen BUT the veil was normally for unmarried women so savior's outfit can be seen as a form of compliance + rebellion#(though later on in history it became accepted for married women to also wear that veil. also my apologies if what i said is inaccurate)#lastly shoutout to savior's expression!! very poised and mysterious....due to her emotional state or pierro's rules on how to act as his#spouse in public?? we'll never know~ the first drawing hits even harder when you compare it to the next one!! such an interesting contrast~#savior in her plain attire. casual and domestic with a smile on her face....i'm guessing this is her pre-fatui version?? she looks so warm#and friendly. and i can definitely understand why pierro fell for her smile <3#also i fucking love the caption. sorry pierro but you are cursed to be a loser/ simp/ pathetic man in all of my fics and AUs xD#NOW ONTO GODDESS! SAVIOR AAAHHHH!! i love the greek goddess motifs. she looks so regal and awe-inspiring but in a different way from her#snezhnayan attire--archaic. divine. and more suited to her personal style.....yet both versions of her look so painfully isolated :'>#her blank eyes. emotionless face. and veil give me the vibes of a spooky victorian ghost...or would a statue/ portrait be more fitting??#the lack of a necklace is also an interesting design choice given what happens in the fic. and now i realized i forgot to comment on your#version of her snezhnayan necklace oops. similar to the kokoshnik and earrings. the size + grandeur makes it impossible to ignore#that and big jewels = expensive af. ohhh and i love the sparkles on her veil!! pierro rlly spared no expense in dressing up his wifey <3#it's also funny how all of these outfits are similar to my own version in terms of 'savior wore grand clothing during her glory days as a#goddess -> wore simple attire after her decline for practicality and to blend in with humans/ disassociate from her old identity -> is now#dressed in even grander clothing as the harbinger's spouse. but it's used to reinforce her new identity and pierro's control over her'#tldr:: your design is so creative and i can see the effort you put in analyzing her character and depicting her based on your interpretatio#thank you for being my mutual + reader and i hope we can share even more harbinger/darling brainrot in the future :>

listening to just a man rn and im thinking abt what all the “when does” stuff means
So first off “But when does a comet become a meteor” uhmmm this is the only when I don’t know
“When does a candle become ablaze” I feel like it’s either talking about Scylla or in King when odysseus does after the torches?? “We are the same, you and I” (scylla says this to Odysseus) so… maybe it’s about both??
“When does a man become a monster?” Obviously we now know it’s about monster (the song) so there’s not much more on that one
“When does a ripple become a tital wave?” Again, we know this one. It’s talking a about in ruthlessness and the lyrics are literally said
“When does the reason become the blame” ..dare I say polites? Because he was trying to get Odysseus to greet the world with open arms… but you know what happened. Honestly I feel like it was such a butterfly effect. Which is sad because Polites wasn’t trying to do any bad. Intact it was the opposite!

So I was looking up polites' name right because epic is my comfort hyperfixation and I know that Polites is Odysseus' best friend and his light and the dude he can cry to but also knowing that Polites means citizens it makes me think that Polites' kindness and support towards Odysseus is representative of his people back in Ithaca, or at least what Odysseus remembers of his people, or wishes they will be like upon his return.
I'm falling down a polites rabbit hole and I will keep folks updated
