The Bear S3- A conversation with the viewer. Part 1
Tumblr media
I'm not saying I loved it or hated it, but this season read as a conversation between viewer and story. Let's talk about it.
The cannon best meal
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
@currymanganese called the situation involving the best meal Sydney has ever had. There were a lot of moments in the show that came true and it's funny this is the first episode- ending with this moment- reminding us how connected Syd and Carmy are.
A Chris Storer conversation
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the real-life owner of the Beef and Chris Storer worked there when he was younger. This is a look into Chris Storer always wanting to cook or direct but like Carmy, he does not have a why behind it. It's also a look into being so involved with the craft one can lose sight of life.
Our hearts breaking for Carmy's regression.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natalie's line is a perspective as a viewer I think some part of my heart just broke. Richie is a cinephile and well-versed in books. Richie is the one who gives a quick run down and psycho-analysis on Carmy even though he gets back in the scene and shows his own flaws. But the focus was on Carmy throughout the season
The Faks- the greek chorus and vibe checkers
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Faks are introduced to the audience as 'the vibe' checkers. They're the naive chorus that guides and relieves some viewers of the chaotic kitchen, but they also distract us from honest conversations. Looking at reddit, it is split between people needing that comical relief the faks provided, or were annoyed and felt the good vibes were too much and they didn't have the perfect timing for those good vibes.
Performance and Film
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actor reference- we'll also get references to filmmakers.
The Syd and Carmy dynamic
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were hopes and dreams to get back in in the kitchen for season 3 and when the audience enters we see why we love the kitchen it's the creators asking this is what you love? But Richie points out there's a lot of energy between Syd and Carmy and the audience is aware. This is what you wanted, right? Richie again is the thread between the viewer and filmmaker.
Claire and Sydney's role
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What Sydney (and Claire) will not be for Carmy. I see this take as either a call back to the panic attack scene or a conversation with the viewer for later in the season (episode 9 had a lot of hidden conversations with the viewer).
This was only the second episode and there's plenty more coming. This season talks about the love of art, deceiving the audience, and what makes The Bear- the tv show and the restaurant magical.

The Treasure of King Priam
The tale of Troy is well-known among many. For some, the tale of the Trojan Horse was simply the start of Odysseus’s journey back home. For others, it was the tragic end of Achilles after his friend, Patroclus was killed by Hector, which led him to seek revenge before losing his life to Paris (which helped spawn the best selling novel of The Song of Achilles. At least, I think that’s what it’s about. I have yet to read Madeleine Miller’s book).
According to the Romans, of course, the war with Troy also led to the founding of their city. As to whether there is any truth to that, who’s to say. But a displaced group of people finding a home across continents does sound plausible.
Tumblr media
But the tale of Troy is not simply a fight between two warring human factions. It was also a battle between the Greek Gods. In fact, the entire story of woe began with Eris, Goddess of Strife and Discord, and her being slighted by the other Gods. In turn, she created the Golden Apple on which was was inscribed: For the Fairest.’ This, in turned, sparked competition between the three main Goddesses: Hera, Athena and Aphrodite.
Not wanting to suffer the anger that would come as a result of choosing who the apple would go to, Zeus nominated Paris, prince of Troy, to choose in his stead. And, as the story goes, he chose Aphrodite. And thus, he was rewarded the love of the most beautiful woman in the world: Helen of Sparta.
The problem, of course, was that she was already married to King Menelaus.
And so, from one simple choice, war sprung forth for ten long years. After all, Helen’s face was the one that led the launch of a thousand ships to bring her back home. The war the raged was one where heroes rose and fell on the battlefield until, at least, Odysseus came up with the most clever of ploys: hiding Greek troops in a wooden horse that would be presented to the Trojans as a symbol of the Greeks’ surrender. Feigning retreat, they would return in the dead of the night to an open gate and storm the city.
Tumblr media
Ever since playing Age of Mythology and becoming obsessed with such stories, the tale of Troy was one of the very first to capture my imagination at a very young age. But I was the first such individual. In the 1800s, an archaeologist by the name of Heinrich Schliemann was also intent on uncovering the lost city.  Though a dedicated scholar, he was also something of a treasure seeker and smuggled away many precious valuables out of Turkey for his personal gain. In his excavations, he also damaged quite a bit of the city and also incorrectly pronounced that Troia II as the one from the Iliad, though later scholars would grant the honour to Troia VI based on the defensive structures an imposing citadel.
While not as impressive as the remains at Ephesus, I still enjoyed my time exploring the ruins of Troy, or Troia as it was written, despite the cutting wind. There was even a statue of a wooden horse (not the original) created by the Turkish artisan: Izzet Senemoglu.
Another interesting fact about Troy/Trioa/ Hisarlik is that it isn’t very far from the Dardanelles Strait. Now, a student of modern history, and in particular, the world Wars, will know that this is where the famous battle of Gallipoli was held. And it was here that the allied forces launched the attack against the Turks in order to take the waterway linking the Black Sea to the Mediterranean.
After we finished looking around Troy, we drove to a restaurant in Gelibolu (Gallipoli) for lunch before taking the scenic route along the Sea of Marmara back to Istanbul for our second last day in Turkey.
Tomorrow promises to be an interesting day where we will visit a mosque and maybe do some shopping before heading to the airport for the long flight back to Sydney.
My time overseas has felt both long and short in equal measure but all such things must come to an end. I, certainly, am eager to go back home and bask in the familiar, even if the idea of returning to work and the stresses it promises doesn’t seem very appealing.
Still, I’ll be starting in a new position (which at time of writing this post, has been about a week and it’s going okay!). And there’s also the Toymaker story that I’ve been writing which needs to get finished before I can editing! Then onto the next the next story project that I’ve been meaning to write for a while now!
Oh, and games. Can’t forget those video games. During my time overseas, I was playing through quite a bit of Theatrhythm: Final Bar Line and there’s an impressions blog just waiting to be written up and uploaded!

Montpellier to Lyon
After a coffee in the Place de la Comedie , I hopped on on of the wonderful Montpellier trams. There are 4 lines (and about to be a fifth )which cross the city. They are all so colorful and the different colours dfine the lines .
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I caught a blue one (Line 1 ) to Antigone , a district east of the historic centre and on the river and is full of huge neo-classical buildings .It is dramatically different to the architecture of the old town.It was designed by a Catalonian architect. It has a number of large squares and a long esplanade leading to the river which is colloquislly known as the local Champos Elysee!!. All the streets and squares have Greek names .There are a number of restaurants and I found one on Rue Rhodes which has under its sign Foster Street!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I crossed the river which is pretty static although I am sure the littel poedestrian bridges wouldnt need to have much rain before they were impassable.
I then took the long route back to the centre on the brown tram route 4 to have an early lunch at Les Halles.I really love these market lunches having first been intriduced to them last year.
I have been in that area at least 4 times on this visit but today was the first day I had noticed these two buildings. My excuse - I was always going up the street rather than down !
Tumblr media
Then it was a trip back to the hotel to freshen up before catching the TGV to Lyon.
While waiting for the gate " to open I was sitting next to a couple from North Sydney who were on their way to Gironne. They had had an exasperating morning firstly finding a petrol station that would take a non European credit card and then the one way streets to the car rental return. What was supposed to be a 1.5Km journey from the accommodation to the car rental return took them 1.5 hours and was in the end assisted by one of the municipale police who hopped in the car with them!
The train was empty until Nimes ( stop 1 ) where it filled up and a few extra hopped on at Valence (stop 2). A quick journey of 1 hr 50 min with only the two stops . The French are frustrating like Sydney people- they crowd the doors trying to get on while everyone is trying to get. off with bags etc .
I had booked a hotel about 5 minutes walk from the station so once I found the correct exit , it was east as .
A small brasserie nearby for wine and a meal finished off the day.

Murder Is Not On The Schedule (Ron Speirs x Reader)
So this is loosely based on a prompt I found on Pinterest about murder not being on today’s schedule and immediately thought SPEIRS! I also wasn’t feeling great this week so I wanted to write something lighthearted...ya know? So this is what my brain came up with.
Warnings: some swearing, sexual tension (cuz i can’t seem to write Speirs without it...sorry?), my poor attempts at humor
Words:2500

The sound of mortars and 88s followed me as I walked into the room being used for Captain Speirs' office in Haguenau. Those same sounds should be terrifying but no one flinched anymore thanks to Bastogne. The office was in the back of Easy HQ, looking towards the river. All the walls and windows were still intact, even if the place was dreary and drafty, it fulfilled its purpose.
Speirs, who had been staring out the window in parade rest, turned around to lean back against the window and looked over at me. "Lip in bed?"
"Yeah. Finally convinced him that I could handle it." I dropped down onto one of the two chairs. Both chairs were placed at the table which occupied the center of the room.
Lipton was an admirable man, second only to Winters himself. But Christ Almighty, he had to be the worst patient with his perpetual refusal to rest. I did not envy any of the medics who were diligently trying to take care of him. It pretty much took both myself and Luz to drag him to one of the cots in the back and me swearing in blood that if I needed help, I would find him.
And if I threatened him a little, no one needs to know, right?
"Well, I appreciate you stepping up and taking over for Lipton while he is sick."
I shrugged, already looking at all the paperwork spread out on the table. "He kept us together while in Bastogne. It's the least I can do. Besides, I used to be a secretary before joining up. It's not a problem."
"Lucky us." He murmured, distractedly. One of his hands tapped a repetitive pattern on his thigh as he seemed to stare at nothing.
I knew there was to be a patrol tonight. A prisoner snatch. From what little I had overheard and observed, it weighed heavily on both Lipton and Speirs. My guess was all the names had not been chosen yet on who had to go. Glancing at Speirs, eyebrows furrowed just slightly, repetitive tapping, biting just the inside corner of his lip...he was working on the list in his head.
I could not help it as my eyes traced his jawline...his messy hair that looked so damn soft...those dark eyes that pierce your soul but also lit up like a beacon when amused. He looked like a rugged, dirty Greek god with an affinity for bloodlust. Even his hands looked perfect to hold my--
You are here to help. NOT OGLE YOUR CO!
 Even if he is pretty.
 Handsome?
 Gorgeous?
 Wet dream worthy?
Whoa! Too much. Pull up, you buffoon!
With all my willpower, I turned back to focus on organizing the reports on the table and checking to make sure we had enough paper. Who knew the army used so much paperwork? Everything had to be documented. I could see why it seemed Winters never left his office...or Nixon. Without Lipton's help, I doubted Speirs would ever see his men. I absent-mindedly wondered if I should offer to help out more often.
Obviously out of the goodness of my heart and not to ogle the handsome devil currently before me.
 Nope.
Several minutes later, there was a knock on the door. After Speirs bid them enter, two replacements stepped into the room. Their ODs were clean, helmets practically sparkled in the sunlight, eagerness written all over their faces. They did not carry the weariness from the Ardennes on their shoulders. They still looked like boys wanting to play soldier with the other neighborhood kids. All I could figure was they had gotten dropped off with the other soldiers returning from the hospital.
Both rapidly saluted Speirs, who only lazily saluted in response, still leaning against the window.
"Captain, sir." The shorter of the two spoke first, practically bouncing on his toes. "We were wondering if we'd see some action soon."
The other one chimed in, a proud smile exaggerating his chubby cheeks. "Yeah, we heard a rumor there's a patrol. Sir, we're ready to get our rifles dirty by killing Krauts, sir."
Christ. These two are greener than the Jolly Green Giant.
I quickly muffled a snort by turning it into a cough. It must have not been as subtle as I hoped with the side-eye Speirs gave me.
Speirs sighed, crossing his arms across his chest. "Your platoon leader will let you know. I suggest you head back to your OP… and try not to get hit by mortars or snipers on your way there."
The two glanced at one another, seeming to remember that Nazis were just as likely to kill them. A necessary reminder. After another round of salutes, they hurried out and closed the door behind them.
"Jesus Christ! If I hear those two asking about killing Krauts again, I'll shoot them both…. And murder wasn't on my agenda today."
"Murder usually isn't on anyone's agenda." I murmured, making notes on a supply list. We definitely needed more ammo...and chocolate bars. There might be a mutiny if we did not receive more chocolate bars and cigarettes.
"No, it's on mine. Just not until Thursday."
 Wait….
 ...What?
My head whipped up to stare at Speirs. I honestly was unsure if he was joking or serious. I mean, hell, we all knew the rumors about him. With his signature serious expression, he held my gaze, as if waiting for me to question him. I chose not to. Really, I believed him. He would be the one to throw a grenade near his men to get them to pay attention. Or get bored and sneak into the enemy's camp to steal their rifles or something just to mess with them.
Then I saw the twitch of his lips, forcing back a smile.
At that I laughed, shaking my head. "No offense, sir, but I think we need to find something better for you to do with your time."
"Oh?" He tipped his head slightly, a mischievous twinkle in his eye. "Like what?"
 Me.
 Shit. Don't say that aloud.
"Mmm…" I tapped my lip with my finger, pretending to think about it. "Preferably something other than terrorizing your men."
"Ah, but it's fun. You should join me."
I shook my head, not even trying to suppress the indulgent smile on my face. What had my life become? Here I was joking with CAPTAIN SPEIRS about committing murder…. for fun? Later I should question my sanity, but right now, I was more than amused to see him in this new lightheartedness. I had only ever seen him always stoic, poised, ready for anything in war. I found this new side of him only increased his attractiveness.
 Damn it.
"What are you doing on Thursday?" He probed, still watching me with a hawk-like gaze.
I shrugged my shoulders, trying to appear as nonchalant as possible. If he was going to joke around, I felt I could return the favor. "Maybe I'm going on a date."
 "With who?"
"Whoever can afford me, I guess."
He laughed, widening my own smile. I had never heard him laugh before, and if I could admit it to myself, the world was missing out without that sound. He shoved off the window, to come sit on the corner of the table, one leg dangling off the side, almost touching the chair I sat on. "And what would a date with you consist of?"
I thought back to before the war. Back before I was weighed down by pain and death. What my life had once entailed. "An elegant dinner at the best restaurant around. Pictures or dancing afterwards. I'm not picky. Then after all that, if I had a very good time, I might be tempted to bring him back to my apartment for some late-night drinks and, well, we'd see where it went from there. But don't tell my mother that last part."
"Sounds like you've got it all planned out."
"I'm a lady who knows what she wants."
"Mmm…" He ran a hand over the stubble growing on his jaw. "I need to change my schedule for Thursday now."
This information you are trying to process does not compute. Please try again.
"You taking me out on the date?" I teased back, leaning back slightly in my chair. Mentally, I prepared for him to make a joke about killing whomever was taking me out for the company's sake or something along those lines, since the idea of him having interest in me was preposterous.
In one swift move, he shifted over so his leg was between mine allowing him to lean forward and hover over me. The air between us suddenly felt hot compared to the rest of the room. Those dark eyes scanned me, as if slowly undressing me with both the utmost care but also unbridled passion. "Yes. Though we might have to skip with the elegant dinner. I'll share the better parts of the K rations. We also might need to skip the pictures or dancing. But I am positive I can steal some of Nixon's Vat 69 and we can go straight to the late-night drinks. Of course, I'll be a gentleman and let the lady decide what happens after." He finished with a cocky wink at me.
 Holy mother of-
I was not ready for that.
I could only stare at him for a long moment. My body practically throbbed for him with the image he painted in my mind. The way his voice became so smooth and sensual. The peak of his tongue as he quickly licked his lips before speaking. Now he sat there, his leg dangling between mine, keeping me glued to my seat. Subtly, I tried to press my thighs together to alleviate some of the pressure building. Not that it helped with his intense gaze making my heart beat faster and his lazy smile telling me he KNEW the effect he was having on me.
 Act cool.
 Act cool!
 Play it off!
I leaned forward, smirking. "Do you always offer to take your executive officers out on a date? If so, I can see why Lipton likes you so much."
He chuckled, eyes alluring and heated. "No, not all of them. Just the ones that I've been admiring for some time."
 Well shit.
 Abort.
 Abort!
Don't you dare, you've dreamed about this man before. Ride it out, you coward!
I blinked in surprise but before I could respond, he had already made his move. He leaned forward and braced his hands on the arms of my chair, hovering over me. His face now was only inches from mine. I was positive he could hear how fast my heart was beating. My lips parted, trying to encourage breath into my lungs that were struggling to send oxygen to my brain. His eyes drifted down to my lips and lingered there. As if in compliance, my own eyes glanced at his lips, how soft they looked, even slightly chapped still from our time in Bastogne. His hands slid ever so slowly further up the arms of the chair, stopping just next to my elbows. Now I could see the faint lines around his eyes. His hair slipped forward, calling my eyes upward. I struggled to not reach forward and touch it. To see how it felt with my fingers running through it. A soft chuckle had my eyes snapped back to his, as he watched me with an intensity that border-lined frightening and lascivious.
 I gulped. "Captain Speirs…"
"No," he just barely ran the tip of his nose over the shell of my ear. His hot breath caressed my skin. My eyes fluttered closed on their own accord; my body unable to handle the pleasurable sensation. He whispered into my ear, voice fully commanding and salacious. "No, you call me Ron when we're alone."
Mission control. We are going down. I repeat we are going down in flames!
My underwear was not prepared for this!
"Ron." I liked the way his name rolled off my lips. If the quiet, sharp inhale from him said anyway, he liked the way it sounded too. Tilting my head just the slightest, I could look up into those dark, smoldering eyes. Our lips though...I could taste his breath on my tongue. I could feel the warmth from his skin radiating onto mine, turning me into a puddle of desire.
Oh God, he smelled like everything that is beautifully masculine. Not the nasty, sweaty teenage boy but the pheromones that make your ovaries take notice and your uterus demands for something to be done with it. How was that possible?
"I'll...um, I'll make sure to add this to your schedule on Thursday." I whispered, almost able to feel his lips ghost over mine as my lips formed each word.
 "Excellent."
His hand trailed up my arm, setting fire to my nerves. Gently, he wrapped it around the base of my throat, his thumb rubbing a pattern into my skin. The whole time our eyes remained locked. His pupils dilated, desire coloring them and I wondered if mine looked the same. The small amount of air between us was thick with tension and salacity. My body screamed for me to drag him down and crash our lips together. To see if he tasted as good as he looked. My hands were stuck in my lap though. It felt like we were in a stalemate, unable to move forward, to take that next step.
If something does not happen, I swear I will spontaneously combust!
Then someone knocked on the closed door.
 .
 .
 .
Dear universe. That was NOT what I meant!
With a sigh, he slipped his hand up to rub his thumb along my bottom lip for the briefest of seconds. I swear the regret coursing through my veins, I could see mirrored in his eyes. Ever so slowly he retracted his hand and leaned back, but stayed on the edge of his desk, his leg still between mine.
"Enter." He called out, only turning his heavy gaze from mine when the person stepped through.
First Sergeant Talbert walked in, opening his mouth then hesitated for a second as his eyes seemed to take in but not fully comprehend the scene before him. "Um, sir, there's a couple of replacements asking about a patrol…"
 "Oh, for fuck's sake!"
I laughed at Speirs' pained expression. Quickly, I jumped to my feet and brazenly patted his chest, my hand lingering on the feel under my palm. "I'll take care of it before murder happens."
"That's not till Thursday." He looked at me with a wry grin. His hand subtly reached forward to skim my hip before grabbing the edge of the table.
"Remember, you're busy now. Murder has to wait."
 "Fine. Friday it is then."
"If you have the energy after." I winked at him. I only caught a glimpse of the hunger that flooded his eyes before I turned on my heels and headed out the door. The whole way out I could feel his heated gaze on my back, like his fingers were trailing down my spine. I shivered in anticipation for what it would really feel like.
I'll make sure he doesn't have the energy to terrorize Easy… I'm definitely doing this for their sakes… completely self-sacrificing… yep, I won't enjoy this at all.

Soho House Basics-FYI
Hi Skippy & Friends-Perhaps it would be a good thing to know how extensive this company is and what her probable connection might provide her.  I have gone to their corporate website and distilled down the basic facts for inquiring minds to understand.  Many will note familiar names in her world of antics.  Also, I have used the 2 LA locations for starting points on virtual tours.  1.  Formed in 1995; Headquarters are 72-74 Dean Street, London.  Founder is Nick Jones whose goal was to modernize the concept of the traditional gentleman’s club.  Current leader is Ronald Burkle.  Membership is required.  2.  Their mission began in London’s Soho House and has since built locations worldwide.  Each one has its own identity and the intent is to create a home away from home for their members.  Looks like there are 10 houses in London alone: High Road House; 40 Greek Street; White City House; Kettners;  House Mayfair; 76 Dean Street;  Shoreditch House; Electric House.  Soho Farmhouse, Oxfordshire (very near private airport); Babinton House; Somerset; 3.  European locations:  2 in Barcelona, Istanbul, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Mykonos being built now.  4.  North America locations:  Miami, Chicago, 3 in NY, 3 in LA, Toronto.  5.  Asia locations are in Mumbai, and Hong Kong.  These properties include restaurants, workspaces, spas and retail.  In the works being built are Paris, Shanghai, Mexico City, Cape Town, Vancouver, Detroit, Sydney, Wash. DC, Houston, Tel Aviv. 6.  In the US, annual memberships cost $2,100 to join a single club and $3,200 to have access to all of the properties.  To keep the clubs young and hip they offer members under 27 a 50% discount on the annual membership until they turn 30.   They want artists, filmmakers, journalists, publicists and tech people to join and spend time mingling.  Of course all room and food charges are extra.  7.  Membership is selective requiring a lengthy application and interview process.  The waiting list hovers around 30,000.  They claim 60,000 are in.  Unlike other private clubs, membership is not based only on wealth or social status, they say.  Members can bring no more than 3 guests at a time to their club and they must be with that member.  I bumped into one anonymous members reasons for cancelling his membership…“cloned Clubs”, “sort of international McDonalds for rich people”, “so called lectures are now just advertisements for other members services”, “hustling décor of rooms available for purchase”, “food & beverage pricing which used to be reasonable since members subsidize your business with monthly dues has now been raised to the point that it’s on par with dining at many high-end non members clubs” and lastly memberships are not on equal par with each other…on and on…oh dear it seems many are leaving.  Perhaps they are being Markeled! You can visit all the sites online to read and see much more.  The locations and décor are fascinating…wink wink and here is a quote to end this little summary.  “The Soho House restaurants assure they were the first places to serve avocado toast for breakfast."  PS- Markus Anderson is a consultant for elite members at Soho House.  Is supposed to have introduced MM to PH.  Canadian from Ontario.  He is extremely close to MM.  Best friends while she was there doing Suits.  He took her out to dinner during her NYC$$$babyshower and she was NOT wearing the huge fake bump she arrived in!!! The possible places for MM to hide are numerous that is for sure.  All of this is my opinion and research was found online. Over & out, Pilgrim
Great job!  Thank you so much for putting it all together...a great look behind the workings....I can’t help see Scientology type set up!  Thank you😊❤️❤️❤️❤️

(via ALPHA – Greek Fine Dining and Wine Tasting)
ALPHA is near the top of the food chain for Greek Fine Dining in Sydney. It isn’t going to break your bank and the food will surely impress as much as the venue. It still creates the traditional food your Yia Yia would make if you were Greek, it is just being interpreted by Peter Conistis, who the SMH describes as the Pioneer of Modern Greek Food. (4.5 stars) Full Review is now up on Spooning Australia. http://spooningaustralia.com/alpha-restaurant-review/

Descendants Taking You on Holiday - Part 2
Hades: Athens, Greece
Tumblr media
Ah, how Hades has missed Greece. As soon as you are both freed from the Isle, Hades is magicking you both to Athens. Prepare yourself to gaze at the Acropolis, surrounded by swarms of tourists who - ironically - do not notice the Greek God standing next to them. Then, spending the rest of your days visiting sites from all those iconic myths and meeting all manners of magical creatures. Yet, your favourite part of your holiday is definitely the picnic under the stars within the now-deserted Acropolis. Of course, such a holiday could only have been so magical with a Greek God by your side.
Lonnie: Beijing, China
Tumblr media
What could be better than exploring the beautiful expanse of China, with Lonnie? The fortnight you spend together, is waltzed away with visiting the Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City and even walking along the Great Wall of China. Not only is it breathtaking to see what Lonnie’s mother fought so hard to protect, it is amazing to experience it with the ever-smiling Lonnie: who is excited beyond belief to show it all to you.
Chad: Monaco
Tumblr media
Ever the one for extravagance, Chad is always talking about taking you to Monaco. Once he has the chance, he does. A blitz week filled with hedonistic partying: in the hotel’s penthouse suite, in nightclubs and even on the deck of his own private yacht! Then, drunkenly gambling in the cities eclectic casinos. But on the lone day that wasn’t fueled by alcohol, Chad drives you to a private beach (in his black Lamborghini, of course) where a luxurious picnic awaits.
Audrey: New York City, USA
Tumblr media
In need of a city break? You’ll get that with Audrey! From endless shopping, to seeing an amazing Broadway show and dining in expensive restaurants... the trip is a beautiful daze! Honestly, if it weren’t for the endless selfies of the pair of you by all the must-see monuments, you could have branded the holiday as a dream! Those memories, and these photos, are near and dear to your heart.. especially the photo of the pair of you wrapped in a loving embrace, Audrey kissing your cheek, in front of the Statue of Liberty.
Jane: Sydney, Australia
Tumblr media
The last stop of your cruise is Sydney -  a place Jane has always been excited to see. As soon as you can depart the cruise ship, you do; rushing to see Bondi Beach, the Sydney Opera House and so much more! Even though you haven’t explored the entirety of Sydney’s beautiful streets, the pair of you decide to take a quick trip through a small slither of the Outback; before returning to Sydney for a whale-watching experience. The best week of your life for sure!

1821 RESTAURANT, Town Hall
Cuisine: Greek
Entice your appetite with a delightful modern Greek meal in a setting perfect for a casual business lunch. Made for sharing, dishes were crafted with incredible flavours that radiated with the vibrance of spring. Starting with the ‘Greenslaw Salad’; a combination of crunchy textures and refreshing sensations, similar to the divine ouzo cured salmon. Compliment the dishes with cheesy hand cut chips whilst marinating your taste buds with the heavier dishes - the prawn manti was deelicious.
**ratings: 8.9g edibles | 9.0g value | 8.9g service | 9.1g ambience

JRox Interview Travel II
I know I’m spamming, but I’m having a lot of feels tonight (as usual you could say now) but my crush is deep. So here’s something else about his travels. From 25 June 2017. The link is here.
How often do you travel? Not nearly as much as I'd like to. Musical-theatre runs are long and, if you're lucky, you can try to schedule a fortnight here and there to hop on a plane and go somewhere exotic where there is no reception.
I think that is why I really do the travel thing when I get the chance.
Your earliest memory of travelling abroad?
I won a Rotary speech competition and the prize was a five-week trip through New South Wales, Australia. Aside from Sydney, the other locations were very provincial. Interesting but provincial.
I spent my third day there nursing my pockmarked shins, since I'd spent my second day loading bales of hay onto a truck. For sheep.
I travelled thousands of miles to load bales of hay for a sheep buffet. This was a "surprise" from host family.
They were down a farmhand that day and thought, "Why not?"
What do you need for a perfect holiday?
Absolutely no deadlines or obligations. I don't mind the odd family catch-up with ex-pats, but that's an hour at the most. Too many meetings and appointments and I feel I may as well go home.
Favourite holiday destination and why?
New York. Hands down. A colleague of mine said that walking through New York makes you feel like there are sparks shooting out of your feet at any time of day. That's the best description of how I feel when I'm there. The city has a legit energy to it and, if you go with it, you are completely reinvigorated.
Best holiday ever and why?
It wasn't actually a holiday. In 2014, I toured London and New York back-to-back with a show. It was just under three weeks and we saw almost 20 shows on Broadway and the West End.
When we weren't performing, we were exploring, eating piping-hot pea soup on one side of the Atlantic and the best Peking duck on the other.
Most relaxing destination and why?
Montusi Mountain Lodge in the Drakensberg. Complete silence, the best hiking and very bad cellphone reception. Oh, and their wine cellar is proof of the existence of a benevolent higher power.
Favourite restaurant?
Junior's on Times Square. Their bottomless coffee and pastrami omelette is available from 5am - pretty much my go-to jetlag meal.
Most adventurous travel experience?
Recently, I did a canopy tour in the Drakensberg. I'm terrified of heights but I got through it, thanks to my guide. I just held onto him for dear life - I'm still paying for his physical therapy.
Favourite hotel?
The Intercontinental in Wellington was my last stop on my most recent tour. Not overly plush, a bed big enough for me to lie horizontally on without my feet getting cold and a breathtaking view of the ocean.
Best piece of travel advice?
Salomon hiking shoes are useful anywhere.
What's your one travel essential?
Lip-Ice. There's no need to look like a sand person from Star Wars.
Where next?
I want to go to Greece. My friend Harry Sideropoulos has basically planned the itinerary of islands, tavernas and Greek singers. His one rule is no cellphones or alarms. Now you see why we are friends.
