I hear things occasionally about D&D DMs who set up cool/elaborate things in their campaigns and the players either find a shortcut through it or get obsessed with some minor detail, and the DM’s just like, 🤦. Did that ever happen?
.
All. The. Fucking. Time
The Dorian Gray arc actually went so tits up the first time they tried it that I ended up rebooting it. The party was supposed to investigate Dorian's dinner parties to discover that he was harboring a group of Dracula's vampires and feeding his guests to them. Initially this was supposed to have them mingle with guests, search the mansion and uncover secrets and possibly obtain Dorian's portrait to blackmail him for information, but for the longest time I couldn't for the life of me get them to break away from the party and explore the mansion. When they finally did they manged to skip over an entire puzzle I had spent hours working on, bypass a fight with a guard and find the portrait. Then one of them whipped out a lighter and screeched "BURN MOTHERFUCKER" because she was upset about what went down with Dorian and Adam. The portrait went up in flames and Dorian aged to dust in the middle of the party and they had to fight their way out of a hoard of vampires.
I ended up letting them redo the quest because we were all very disappointed.

The stark contrast between having victor Frankenstein as your dnd character versus having Nyarlathotep as a warlock patron is so funny. Everyday I’m apologizing to Mary Shelley profusely because I respect her boy so much and acknowledge how away Victor got from the source material in the campaign. Meanwhile I am actively trying to kill lovecraft a second time via having his scary scary god kiss his queer aasimar warlock with tongue

hii, saw your post asking for requests so... i think some headcannons on first impressions between eddie x reader (maybe they bump into each other during lunch, love this ideia for some reason), which reader is introverted and has a whismgoth/soft goth style (not exactly onto the subculture) would be awesome if you're ok writing it. thank you!
A\N: Hi! thanks for requesting this love the idea. sorry it took so long btw. i hope it's how you imagined it.
okay, first of all, i can see him taking interest in th interoverted girl who is Whimsigoth and no one really pays attention to
he had definitely noticed you before and stared at you several times (not in a creepy way, of course :))
you had also noticed him and thought him and overall the hellfire club was cool, unlike the other students in the school.
you where in your last year and so was he, even though you had a 2 year age difference (i saw somewhere that Eddie is 21 so we are gonna stick to that)
before actually meeting you and talking to you, Eddie asked whoever he knew and could about you.
"you and her are in the same history class, right?". "what is her name?" "how old is she?"
yeah, literally everything
and you always observed him. you noticed all the crazy shit he does and find it interesting\amusing\funny.
you never had the courage to go and actually talk to him though.
when you met was most likely the most awkward memory of both of your lives.
you were walking in the cafeteria and the two of you bumped into each other.
you where literally a blushing mess when that happened
and he just scratched the back of his neck helping you pick your books up
"uh....yeah...sorry about that"
you'd shake your head trying to hide the blush
"it's alright"
after some moments of awkward silence and him helping you to pick your books up he finally talks
"i like your style"
you'll just smile, feeling a little flustered by the sudden attention
"t-thanks"
he'd chuckle finding your shyness interesting and kinda....cute?
he would ask you to sit with him for lunch and even though you didn't really like talking to people you agreed.
he introduced you to the hellfire club
it would only last as a small 'hi' though because he would sit on the corner of the side of the table that was your side and you too would start talking.
he would talk about DnD, metal music, etc. etc. etc. until....
"wait, you like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Metallica?"
your eyes lit up instantly and smiled
"and here i was, thinking you can't get any cooler"
he'd say with a smirk
and of course, at the end of lunch you forgot to ask any actual information about each other: last name, age, etc, etc, etc.
it's a good thing though, now you both have excuse's to see each other again

Mike Wheeler's Terrible Summer
This is an excerpt from a long fic I am nowhere near done with. It's about Mike's experience in college, but is really about his struggle with depression, maintaining friendships, becoming a better person, and unlearning some of the things he's been taught. Do I even like Mike? Eh. Do I have almost 24k entirely focused on his life? Absolutely.
This part of the fic is set the summer after Mike's first year of college. El broke up with him a year ago, but he's still in love with her. Will has not come out to Mike, but Mike recently realized (on his own) that Will is gay and is working on coming to terms with that. Mike is also pretty depressed. Trigger warnings for homophobia and suicidal ideation.
~~~
It was easier to pretend to be happy when the jocks were doing their thing, because at least everyone was equally bored.
Some days, the Party would hang out with Steve and Robin. That often meant going over to Steve’s for a movie night or to splash around in his pool (which Steve never got in, even when it was hot as balls outside). But sometimes, that meant going to the park and sitting on the hot metal bleachers while Steve, Lucas, and El ran around playing basketball.
“At least you have something to watch,” Max grumbled.
Will, who’d given up on the goth aesthetic due to the summer heat, passed Max a cigarette. He lit it for her and she relaxed, leaning into Will’s legs where she was using him as a backrest.
It was a strange sight — Will sitting on top of the picnic table, looking carelessly cool — and Max sitting on the bench beneath him, like it wasn’t way too hot to be touching another person right now.
Once upon a time, it had been Will and Mike hanging all over each other. But now, Mike wondered if Max only touched Will so easily because she knew he didn’t like girls. Was that why Will spend so much time with her and El? Was that why Lucas didn’t care that Max draped herself over Will?
Mike wanted to touch Will like he used to and not have it mean anything and he was terrified that that was impossible.
He stared out at the game to distract himself from Will and Max being weird and Robin and Dustin talking about some movie Mike had never seen.
Lucas was playing against Steve and El, with El banned from using her powers, and Mike wasn’t paying enough attention to know for sure, but he thought Lucas might be winning.
Mike had scoffed when Lucas had started to play basketball back in high school. He’d thought Lucas was only doing it to be popular and he’d known that the popular kids were dickheads. Plus, like Eddie, he hadn’t been able to see the point of a game where people tried to get balls through laundry baskets. Where was the plot? The tension? The twists and turns and characters that kept things interesting?
Lucas had briefly considered quitting after the whole basketball team had hunted Eddie for sport, but he’d ultimately decided he loved the game enough to keep playing. It had been a contentious decision at the time. Steve had been his most vocal supporter, but the rest of them had resented the betrayal. Erica hadn’t spoken to Lucas for three whole months, angry that he would play alongside a man who had pinned her to the ground.
It had been rough, but apparently Lucas had made the right fucking choice. He was good. Like really good, not just Hawkins good. His skills had earned him a scholarship to UCLA and he must have been having the time of his life if he was never in his apartment when Mike called.
Mike tried not to resent basketball too hard these days, but it was hard. Lucas had really found his calling or his people or whatever and they weren’t Mike’s calling or Mike’s people. And they didn’t need to all have the same interests, but it had been so easy when they had. Back when hanging out meant comics, the arcade, and DnD and no one had ever felt left out or lost.
But now El liked punk and Lucas liked basketball and Will liked men and Mike felt like he had been left behind, the last man standing in the ruins of their childhood.
It was fucking lonely in the ashes.
Mike forced his scowl back, watching El instead of Lucas. She was wearing black shorts which showed off her long, muscular legs, tan from the summer sun. Her black tank top advertised some kind of band and had a lot of rips in it, showing flashes of skin when she lunged for the ball. She was wearing a pink headband to hold back her bleach-blonde hair and it looked completely incongruous with the rest of the outfit but also weirdly cute in a way Mike felt only Eleven could pull off.
Despite basketball not being her sport, El was really impressive on the court. She was completely unafraid to get up in Lucas’s face even though he was a head taller than her. And Mike knew that Eleven had faced down real monsters, both human and otherworldly, and that it made sense that she wouldn’t be scared of Lucas Sinclair after everything she’d been through. But watching her dive fearlessly for the ball, or jump to block Lucas’s shot on goal, Mike couldn’t help but be amazed by her.
“Steve just scored on Lucas,” Robin narrated to Max. “He’s doing a really embarrassing victory dance and I’m considering a divorce.”
Max laughed. “What’s Lucas doing?”
“They’re playing the next round now,” Robin said. “Lucas has the ball - he’s trying to get past El. She’s trying to grab it and — ooh! Lucas did one of those jump-score moves where he touches the rim of the basket.”
“I think it’s called a layover,” Dustin said.
Max groaned. “Listening to you nerds describe basketball is painful.”
“We’re doing a good job!” Dustin protested.
“How come you can memorize a million different nerd-terms for DnD, but you can’t remember what a lay-up is called?” Max asked.
“They’re just trying to get a ball in a hoop,” Mike said. “Why do they need so many different terms when there’s just one objective?”
“I could ask the same thing about DnD,” Max said. “Isn’t the point just to win the campaign?”
"The point isn't just to win the campaign!" Mike said through gritted teeth. "You also-"
“They’re coming over,” Will said before Mike could explain DnD to Max.
Indeed, the three athletes were heading for the edge of the court, all dripping sweat. Steve and El immediately grabbed their water bottles, but Lucas went up to Max.
“How’s it going?” he asked her.
“I don’t know,” Max said. “These idiots couldn’t describe a basketball game to save their lives. Are you winning?”
“Yeah,” Lucas said with an easy smile. “17-12.”
“The student has become the master,” Steve said, pouring water over his head. El watched him as he did so, rapt, and Mike scowled.
“A long time ago!” Lucas teased. “When was the last time you beat me?”
Robin laughed and Steve pouted. “Supergirl and I will beat you by the end of the summer.”
“We should switch teams,” El suggested. “You and Lucas against me. But I can use powers.”
Steve raised his eyebrows and exchanged a look with Lucas. “That might be too hard.”
“No, that sounds fun,” Dustin said. “We just have to come up with rules for how El can use her powers so it isn’t ridiculously unfair.”
Steve snorted. “Okay, Henderson, tell me a good rule to keep El’s literal superpowers fair in a game.”
Dustin floundered for a minute. “I- I have to learn how basketball works first, I guess.”
Steve rolled his eyes.
“I can do it,” Max said, looking excited. “I know a lot about basketball and El’s powers.”
Lucas took one look at Max’s face and said, “Okay, we’ll do a game at the end of the summer. Me and Steve against El, using whatever rules Max comes up with.”
“Are you sure you won’t be biased?” Mike asked Max.
Max crossed her arms. “Towards who? Lucas or El?”
“Or Steve,” Steve suggested quietly, making Robin and Max snort.
Mike had meant Lucas, but he said, “El, obviously.”
“Obviously?” Max echoed.
Mike grinned. “Weren’t you just telling me that you’re always Team El?”
Max flipped him off. “Fuck you. Breakup rules don’t apply to basketball. Or are you Team Lucas?”
“Fuck off,” Mike said. “Team El and Team Lucas were the same thing when we were talking about dating.”
“They’re still the same thing,” Max said. “And I’m perfectly capable of coming up with unbiased rules for El to use her powers to play.”
“I guess we’ll see,” Mike said, just smarmy enough to be taunting.
“Yes, you will,” Max answered, teeth bared in what could be a grin but looked more like a challenge.
“Are you two… friends?” Steve asked, sounding dumbfounded.
“No!” Mike and Max snapped together.
The others looked wide-eyed between them. El was examining them closely and Will looked bewildered.
“Okay,” Steve said awkwardly. “Water break over. Let’s finish the game.”
He tried to press a kiss to the top of Robin’s head but she shrieked and batted at him, telling him to keep his sweat far away from her. Steve grinned unapologetically and headed back to the court, Eleven on his heels.
Max let Lucas kiss her and then Lucas was pouring water over his head the same way Steve had done. Will eyed Lucas as he lifted the hem of his shirt to wipe the water off his face and Mike grimaced. Had Will ever looked at him like that?
Lucas clearly noticed Will’s attention and Mike tensed, wondering what was going to happen. But Lucas just grinned teasingly at Will and ran back onto the court.
Like it didn’t even matter.
Mike grabbed the cigarette out of Max’s hands and brought it to his lips as she screeched “hey!” He took a drag, only to end up coughing.
Holy shit. They did this for fun?
“Loser,” Max said. She put her hand out and Mike handed her the cigarette, still coughing.
“Why do you do that?” he asked.
It was Will who answered. “It’s a big part of the social scene at Parsons. We don’t really have a campus, so people just stand around in the doorways to the buildings, smoking. It’s how you make friends.”
Huh. Maybe Mike should take up smoking. He’d always figured it was a lie that doing drugs got you friends — he’d been friends with a drug dealer for a whole year, and the one time he’d asked Eddie for weed Eddie had laughed in his face — but maybe Will was onto something.
“Actually,” Robin said, “smoking has been proven to cause cancer. So it’s probably good that Mike doesn’t smoke. Those things will kill you.”
“Something has to,” Max said, missing the concerned look Will shot her.
“Let me try again,” Mike said. He held out a hand to Will, who looked surprised.
They stared at each other for a long moment.
Really? Will’s expression read.
Yeah, Mike said.
You don’t have to.
Give me a damn cigarette.
Will sighed and pulled a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket. He shook one out and passed it to Mike.
“Seriously?” Dustin asked, sounding disapproving. “Robin’s right about the cancer.”
“It’s his choice,” Will said with a shrug, passing over a lighter. “You have to inhale while you light it.”
Mike did. The cigarette tasted terrible, like swallowing a mouthful of ash. He coughed up the first few lungfuls before finally managing to take a drag without choking like a child.
It felt different from alcohol. The world felt fuzzier around the edges in a different way.
Mike didn’t know if he liked the feeling. Especially here in Hawkins, where being out of control felt dangerous.
But Max was right. Something had to kill him. And given the choice, Mike would rather it be a cigarette than a monster.
Given the choice, Mike wouldn’t want to be sitting here, surrounded by his friends yet so far apart from them. He wanted to go to sleep. He wanted to slip into a coma and not wake up for ten years. (Did Max ever miss being asleep?). He wanted to have died a hero, killed by Vecna or a Demogorgon, and be fondly remembered instead of miserably alive.
He wanted everything except the life he had, where he didn’t want anything at all.
Mike brought the cigarette to his lips and took another drag.
An Idea, what if there are some changes in Bruce's kids' personalities if they exist in the Batman 2022 verse and what subcultures are they into?
disclaimer: These are just purely for fun and just some ideas bouncing.
Okay so we have Emo Goth Loner Bruce Wayne of 2022 who looks like he needs a shower and unlike the Bruce (Breeses? Broose?) we had in the past who are charismatic, charming, a ladies' man and the richie rich stereotype as his civilian persona, this Bruce wayne is waaaay opposite.
So it got me thinking, if those are the personality changes Bruce has, what of his children?
First son: Richard John Grayson.
An orphan acrobat that batdad (awkwardly) adopted with only 14-16 years age gap. Dick is more into the tiktok scene, an influencer who shows his best moves and routine. He is a sunshine boy throughout instead of bouts of angst phase (ehem when Jason was first adopted after he was fired as Robin). He is into mobile games, something his two younger brothers agree to tell him that he is no "real gamer". He also does youtube and Instagram on the side.
As he is an acrobat, he is more or less the "jock" of the family as he is active in his favorite activity as Richard Grayson. Wins his school's acrobatic contests. He isn't a jerk jock by anyways of course. (He is raised by an emo after all)
subculture: Influencer and Jock culture.
Second son: Jason Peter Todd
Streetkid turn rich son, you'd think he be a delinquent who skips school? Ma'am, ma'am please, this boy loves to read classic literature from Pride and Prejudice to Little Women. Although the more he was under his adopted father's care, the more he delve deep into gothic literature and arts. He would lit candles as he read the books, huddle in the Wayne family library as his blazers kept him warm during late night reading while Batdad looks over the stairs.
There may or may not be post revival, and maybe he just grew up but while he kept his Dark Academia aesthetic and lifestyle close, he is also mixing it up with the punk culture. leather jackets replace cardigan as he drives around in his motorcycle. While he does look like a stereotypical bad boy, you can still see him read a fiction or two at a nearby alley after a smoke.
Subculture: Dark Academia and Punk
Third son: Timothy Jackson Drake-Wayne
Ah yes, the child from another father and mother of our emo Bruce. Years of not being a priority of his parents made a loner out of Tim, who slowly finds comfort in the shadows. While more extroverted than Bruce, Tim still huddles under his blanket, forgoing eating or sleeping as Alfred could only sigh. He wears shirts too big for him and broods when his best friend Kon isn't there to bring a smile on his face. Tim would brood deeply if not checked so please give the damn dude some coffee.
He is of course a nerd, tech, gaming, references, and (canon) Dnd's are his hobbies. He tends to read anime or manga from time to time but he mainly focused on his beloved technology. He plays on his pc, as he is a pc master race believer. He does have his consoles and would boast quietly how he finished the entire pokemon series until-- damn did Nintendo releases another...?! Well damn, dad I need to buy a new console.
Perhaps this is the only universe where he and Damian actually got along so well they team up in games to gently persuade Dick that MOBILE GAMES AREN'T REAL DI--
Subculture: Emo and Nerd
Fourth Son: Damian Wayne
A child, somehow the misunderstood ratman of a bat somehow beget a child. Unlike the later characterizations of Talia, she gave her son up a little earlier, perhaps when he was 5, for him to live a normal life. The first thing Tim and Dick did to give Damian a taste of a normal life...is to turn on the tv and Naruto was on... the rest is history. Damian is well known as the Wayne "Anime fanboy" with all his love for manga, anime and even cosplays. He does fanart and listens to vocaloid, declaring it as the peak of human culture. He adores Miyazaki films due to the color palette and stories the film tells. Can often be seen with headphones and his more rude traits are just him ignoring you as he listens to Anime openings or as he watches Fate Stay Night, you call his name out and then he snaps at you.
He is into gaming as well, something that made him and Tim get along like house on fire. He would play the entire Story of Seasons games and Fire Emblem series. He and Tim can often be spotted screaming while Tim plays a Dark soul like game.
subculture: Otaku and gamer
-----
I might add Duke and Cassie later on (and is Stephanie even counted...?)
The Creative Directors Behind Fate: The Winx Saga Must Not Be K-Pop Fans
Also, they have a pretty wrong idea of the role fashion should play in a show.
There are a few words that will stand out across most reviews of Netflix's Fate: The Winx Saga - drab, boring, flop, flat, unimaginative. Critics and audiences consensus is that the show is not only a mediocre-at-best story, but also an atrocious (and ultimately confusing) choice of adaptation of the color pop and fairy magic cartoon it’s based on, 2004 italian cartoon Winx Club.
Fate has plenty of it's own issues - white washing and erasing characters, cringey dialogue, outdated melodrama, etc. But where it truly, unequivocally fails is as an adaptation. Fate misses everything that was magical and lovable about the original series, in all levels, from bizarre writing choices, - such as never actually developing any sense of friendship between the characters, who are based on a cartoon about…..a group…….of friends -, but it's especially and immediately felt in the art direction and costume design.
Winx Club is set on a fantastical world, Magix, where each of our main characters hail from a different planet, à la Sailor Moon. Alfea, the fairy school they attend, is the most common background: a pastel colored, futuristic high tech-meets-fantasy, art nouveau inspired castle. Alfea sets the tone for the whole visual of the cartoon: bright, colorful, futuristic meets vintage, leaning into the technological positivism of the Y2K style, uniting it with magic, DnD worthy monsters and, of course, fairy wings. Often featured are also the Red Fountain school, where the Specialists train, and especially Cloud Tower, the goth and gothic inspired witch school Alfea has an OxBridge rivalry with (How cool would that be in a live action? I guess we’ll never know…).
On Fate, Alfea is the only school we ever see, and it’s another beige boarding school in not-Britain, somehow set in a magical world where everyone has the exact same technology and even social media that we have on Earth in 2021, no transformations and, most egregiously, no fairy wings.
This lack of visual creativity is pervasive throughout the whole show, and its most heartbreaking iteration is in the characters' wardrobe. The styling has the barest bones of a color scheme, - such as 'Bloom has to only dress in red since fire, duh',- the clothes are ill fitting, bland, dark and very dated. These are supposed to be teenagers who enjoy fashion, and yet they look like varying types of soccer moms from 2010.
The series seems to operate on an old and tired vision that women and girls can’t have depth and have adventures and fight monsters while also caring about fashion, a vision that the original show played a big, big role in challenging in the early 2000's. Fashion and costume design sets as much of the tone of a visual medium as the script does; through clothes we can gauge characters’ backgrounds, passions, and personality.
Winx Club has some of the best examples of this in the cartoon sphere - Bloom’s comfortable and bright style, Stella’s glitzy and bold, Musa’s edgy and cool, Aisha’s sporty and fun, Techna’s neon and tech gear inspired, Flora’s earthy and romantic, they all work as extensions of each character and serve a narrative purpose. And that’s not even mentioning how insulting it feels that in their quest to make Winx “edgier, darker” and fit for an older audience, the creators of Fate somehow decided that was in opposition to caring about style and fashion. Most “girly” shows, including the Winx Club are just as much adventure action shows as the ones geared towards boys, and it’s emphasis in fashion, friendship and color does not detract from that. The original run of the cartoon deals with war, violence, grief, abusive relationships and even genocide; leaning into those plotlines would not require Fate to erase any integral parts of what made Winx so beloved, and the fact that they did shows that the Netflix team completely missed the point of fashion in the original show, and really, the point of fashion and costume design in the world building of any show.
That, however, is not a mistake K-Pop makes very often; (This might seem like a bit of wild swerve in topic, but stay with me here). Unlike it's western counterpart, the Korean pop scene never lost the emphasis on music videos and how the visual medium can complete and potentialize music and performance; the K-Pop culture is very album and concept oriented in a way that has been all but lost in many other pop circuits, and the music video, styling and set design of a ‘comeback era’ is a key point of excitement among fans.
As such, music videos that follow storylines, connected universes, boundary pushing concepts and visual effects are the norm, rather than the exception, and a list could be made of works that are beautiful examples of what a live action Winx adaptation could look like. In fact, and very smoothly, here is a small list of exactly that!
A Small List of K-Pop Music Videos That Are Better Winx Club Live Actions Than Fate: The Winx Saga
3. Red Velvet - Psycho
If it was a darker and more somber look that Fate wanted, there was a way to make it actually appealing. While it still feels a liiitle too grown up and elegant for Winx, (maybe this author is biased, as a full proponent for the Y2K fun) Psycho makes a very compelling argument for a witchy, mysterious, fairy tale-esque show that could look scrumptious and definitely not boring, or even a gorgeous example of what the witches in Cloud Tower could look like. Black and white, dark green, pastel blue and pops of jewel tones make Psycho's color palette. To add interest to the understated colors, the styling is heavy on textures; We see plenty of stonework, intricate embroidery, tassels, lace on lace on lace, feathers, bows, opera gloves and lots of glitter. All of that is offset by bold, dark makeup, leather accents and eerie cinematography. Needle & Thread, Marchesa Notte and Self Portrait lend their hyper feminine and intricately detailed tulle gowns, juxtaposed with the creepiness of the lyrics and the dark backgrounds; their deep berry and green fairy tale looks are built with pieces from Zara to Nina Ricci to Dolce & Gabbana to Alexander McQueen.
Red Velvet’s more edgy styling for 2018's Bad Boy would also not feel out of place on the Trix.
2. IZ*ONE - Fiesta
IZ*ONE kicked off 2020 with sweet and fun Fiesta. The MV features rooms with mismatched décor that go from retro to space opera, rocky faux landscapes that feel other worldly, and visual effects that would look perfect on the back of a transformation sequence. Mirroring the set design, the girls wear various outfits by sustainable up and coming brand Chopova Lowena. Their signature skirts made with discarded and repurposed fabrics give a cool and interesting twist on a schoolgirl look that would look very sweet for a band of school fairies that occasionally go off to save the world. Also, wouldn't those bedazzled headphones look great on Musa's fairy outfit?
1. Aespa - Black Mamba and Next Level
Aespa is what fans call a monster rookie. With only three music videos under their belt, they still have some of the most visually interesting work in the industry right now. Their concept is very tied in with high tech, featuring even AI avatars of each member, packaged in a glitzy, fantastical and futuristic aesthetic, candy pop meets cyberpunk. I think I’ve exhausted ways to say that is exactly what a perfect Winx adaptation should feature.
Their debut smash hit, 2020’s Black Mamba is truly a perfect moodboard for live action Winx. Wearing a sequined and colorful mix and match of Dollskill, Gucci, Didu and Balenciaga to a backdrop that features some alien fairy forest realness, a pyschedelic fever dream, rooms straight out of a Y2K catalog or donning lime green and black techwear inside a metro fighting the "black mamba", Aespa look through and through the part of fashion loving fairies who save the world together, while looking fierce, stylish and, most importantly, interesting.
The styling and the sets jump seamlessly from more casual colorful fits with blouses, shirts and baggy pants to barren, darkly lit backgrounds and fringe-and-glitter heavy pieces necessary to fight giant snakes, in a way so fitting to transformation outfits for magical girls we could cry.
In their third MV, 2021's Next Level, the cyber in their concept is taken up a notch (get it. because Next Level-), set to a futuristic urbanscape intersped with a planet made of crystals and the ocasional alien fauna popping up again. We get treated to Monse, The 2nd Skin Co., Johanna Ortiz and The Attico styled to fairy princess standards, sporty sky racers and a white and sequined group styling that is top ten fairy busy saving the world uniform material, or maybe even a specialist worthy getup.
This particular look from Ningning is so Techna that it almost feels as if it's mocking Netflix.
And doesn’t this Karina trapped inside the "black mamba" in Alexander McQueen feel like a perfect Dark Bloom moment?
These are only a few examples of interesting and creative designs that are in line with what a live action Winx Club should have given us. There are so many more I could list, even among other TV Shows, like Sex Education and even polemic dark Euphoria, that know how to have fun with style and design without losing the depth of their stories. In the end, it's hard to justify why Fate creators even wanted to make an adaptation that didn't even try to capture the heart of its source material, and all we can do is watch one more "Restyling Fate: The Winx Saga" video on Youtube whilst mildly dreading season 2.
DND AU??????
spill
I assume this is about Dnd Griffin? It's not like, a whole ass AU or anything. But I do a lot of thinking about what my public domain blorbos would be as DND classes. So Griffin is a Teifling Barbarian/Wizard with the tavern brawler feat, he has maxed strength and con and mostly relies on hitting things to do damage. He mostly studies Transfiguration and Illusion magic, and became an adventurer after accidentally stumbling on some forbidden lore and burning down his wizard school library.
Here's a quick doodle.
And here's a heroforge Mini.
He's not exactly playable how I have him currently built, but I kinda want to play Teifling Griffin at some point.
I also have an Dnd AU for Alice from Alice in Wonderland, who I'm going to be playing next time my husband runs a thing.
And a loose one for Lucy Westenra based Sorcerer and a Beatrice Rappacini Druid. One day I'll have a proper goth lit crossover DND adventure where the gang fights Vecna or something.
About Mod Souda
You guys should talk to me in the ask box more smh you guys are fun
Like just tell me about your day but I won’t guarantee that like 1000% I’ll respond but I’ll read them all.... efkjlwdbsc or or ask me questions or something idk I like talking
1500 followers face reveal when (shocked emoji) /srs
Anyways here’s some things about me because I never really introduced myself (since this is my account and why would I do an introduction)
THIS IS LITERALLY MY LIFE STORY GOODBYE BAHSBAH
-Mod Souda
Hi I am Mod Souda and I go by he/him ofc ofc I am a gay man.
Uhh I am an a native amercan mixed kid AND an Aquarius ugh I’m so unique right. I was raised by a raver and a metalhead skater in Vegas. I’ve been in the pit since I was 4 years old (specifically at a Primus concert LMAO).
The first fandom I was in was Creepypasta, and I was about 8 years old. It’s funny because the first musician I ever actively liked was Madame Macabre.
As a child (like 7-11) I mainly listened to Vocaloid, Madame Macabre, and Nicki Minaj.
When Avengers came out I was still in elementary school. And .. Loki... wrjhfbwejdhb bro!! gay awakening!! holy shit. I was in love with him but I didn’t want to admit it smh shhh.
The first anime I ever watched was Black Butler. I was IN LOVE with Joker from Book of Circus ehbwdjqshdfb. The last episode of that season ended the day I moved to California. I remember crying bc of the last scene inside of the moving truck.
I also got into Fairy Tail a lot. Also tragic. I had the hugest crush on Gajeel Redfox mmmmmemdwkgsnekfdjsglkvcx
I live in the Bay Area, and grew up in the same house, compared to living in Vegas where I moved every two years. There are ... so many poc here ... and in vegas I was in a class with all white people. Being around so many poc was so like ?? fun ?? idk how to describe it but it feels like how life should feel like; not stressful at all.
I started listening to goth music when I was 12 because I was in the Mr. Creepypasta amino and somebody was like “you guys should join the goth amino” and I was like oh that sounds so fun !!! Boom... goth Mod Souda arrived.
I was all about Sopor Aeternus and Switchblade Symphony.
I discovered my lifelong favorite artist in like 2016. It was because I was making playlist for my Fairy Tail oc (tragic) and I added this song I got off of a “Creepypasta Theme Songs” and it was Bernadette by IAMX (which was assigned to Laughing Jack). And I listened to the song and was like meh this is cool. Then one day I played the playlist and it just.... hit different. LMAO I was like waiitittttititit. The next day, on the way to the airport, I downloaded all 7 (at the time) of his albums and listened to them the whole way. I’ve seen him live too like mm chris corner I love you.
I got into DR in 2015 because of an edit of (anime) Syo and Junko to Pound the Alarm LOL. I was like “this looks cool” so I watched it on my phone while sitting on the couch all in one go. Spoilers but I cried the most when mondo and sakura died, fun fact. Life went down from there smh!!
I really believed that I was dating Gundham Tanaka. Like everything in my life was Gundham Tanaka related like I was ... obsessed with him. And I coudln’t see art of him and sonia because it would make me have a breakdown bc I thought he was cheating on me PLZ BHDSABHJBAHAAHHA it’s funny because I kin sonia now and I’m in love with her.
This was the same year where I ???? got bruises on my eardrums somehow (I asked my dad recently how I got them and he went uhh idk) ???? and I couldn’t hear anything for like three years plz. My hearing has gotten better but idk if my ear percentage is 100%/100% or if I’m just grateful it isn’t what it is before LMAO so that’s when I started learning ASL.
This is also the same year where I got hospitalized for being a neurodevelopmental schizophrenic lol OOPS !
A funny story of me growing up with danganronpa is uhh when future arc was still airing ,,, Spoilers,, and the episode with Juzo passing aired,, I literally printed the frame of him talking to himself confessing his love and BROUGHT IT TO SCHOOL. I LIT A CANDLE FOR HIM TOO LIKE BYE
Freshman year of highschool I started dating an emo kid who brought his electric guitar to school. TRAGIC. We dated for like two years please what.
Sophomore year I started getting into metal and punk. This is mainly because I went to a Slayer concert. I was trying to branch out of my goth bubble and !!! metal really stuck with me. My favorite subgenre is goregrind. It’s mmm so good. Punk... was a miss. I absolutely hate punks. If anyone in the alternative community is reading this right now I’ll tell you this: the punks that I interacted with to learn more about the community were from OC .... goodbye
I still listen to Glass Street tho ^ they are hc/crossover and I really like their music omg I have their merch now plz HBSAJKH and I still like the patch pants / crusties I made so that’s cool. A lot of kids look up / glamorize me just because of my fashion but at least they give me clout ig ...
The year after that I downloaded Spotify for the first time. I was an apple music/youtube person (tragic). Uhh what else omg. I finally figured out that I was neurodevelopmental and that it affected my way of thinking and that ,, it wasn’t JUST because I am sch so that was an awakening.
Anyways now trying to get a minor in asl interpreting mmmm and trying to get a job SMH !! why is it so hard. I’m into DND now oo that’s new and I’m collecting the dice.
I started this blog in July 2020 when I was staying with my friend in a tent in New York for a couple of months. I forced her to watch despair arc (LOL) and now she’s a junko cosplayer so B^)
Metalhead anon and everyone else who’s been here for a long ass time make me SOOO happy like woah.. it’s been so long omg. I used to post fics three times a day like wtf the EFFORT (that was before school started lol oops my bad)
Since then I’ve got a boyfriend and a whole wave of danganronpa cosplayers who are my friends now. It’s really cool to talk to so many young people (sometimes) who are hella into like,, open conversations about gender and politics and whatnot. I’m used to talking to 20 year old goth people you know?
Whenever I do something “cringey” (like if I want to do dr character impersonations or if I want to rant about how much I love this anime character or if I want to try out neopronouns) I’m like hmmmm I can go to the danganronpa cosplayers and I know they won’t judge me for this.
Anyways that’s it. It’s 22:50 where I am right now aaaanndd I go on this blog way more than I should LOL
Any unexpected but really funny incidents happen during the campaign?
There were several.
One player (the guy who hasn't read any of the books) mistakenly thought one of the NPCs Alan Walton (descendant of Robert Walton and keeper of the letters and journal that go over the events of Frankenstein) was in league with Dracula and tried to accuse him of being a vampire after Alan revealed that he was not surprised by the supernatural and had had his own encounters a strange creature (referring to Adam). The player kept hanging around the docks and following Alan around trying to prove he was a vampire despite rolling two perception checks that yielded him no evidence. As the other players were in character they couldn't outright reveal that we were in the Frankenstein part of the game given that their characters didn't have that knowledge yet so we were forced to watch my guy run around yelling at Alan "I know you're a vampire" and Alan yelling back "You're drunk go home!" At one point the player made such a pest of himself that Alan threw him off the docks. The other players fished him out of the water and tried to tell him to give it up but he was convinced he was onto something.
He eventually found Robert's letters while searching Alan's cabin on his ship and had a moment of realization. He got so excited about what he found that when Alan confronted him about snooping through his things all he could do was blurt out "You're Frankenstein! OH MY GOD IT'S FRANKENSTEIN!!!"
The other players managed to apologize on his behalf and smooth things over with Alan and that got them started on the Expedition to the Arctic quest.
Please.... please tell me about your goth lit dnd. I almost organized a similar thing in highschool JUST because I wanted to play Frankenstein as a dnd character.
Okay okay so I finally got around to answering. This gothic lit dnd stars a few ocs, Vergil the rogue fairy, Princely a bard, and Fergal but we don’t talk about him he’s cursed. So anyways there’s also Victor, Clerval, Jekyll/Hyde, Lord Henry, Dorian, and the Creature aka Adam. We also created slightly cursed yet wholesome ships. The campaign kicks off on a runaway train where the squad has to get off the train and everything takes a nosedive from there.
And my character, Clerval is a lovely bard who plays the kazoo and is literally the only nice person in the whole party.
#dude if you want to know more about the dnd campaign hmu in messages because like wow... people actually want to hear about this??#this is fantasticly chaotic and i love it so#just probably shouldnt dump a long ass post into people’s feeds#gothic lit dnd
I don’t think I’ve ever posted my dnd character on here, despite how much I talk about him.
It’s uh. It’s victor Frankenstein. Yeah that one. He’s a wizard who did some necromancy he really shouldn’t have
My Forest Faun Druid (circle of dreams) is lvl 5 now and her outfit got upgraded too. She's a mahou shoujo cinnamon roll with a pet borb and a big ol crush on the party's angsty goth tiefling but shhhh thats top secret (no its not im sure several party folk have suspicions)
Is your goth lit gang role play through a DND type system? Just I want to play a Frankenstein Creature character and I was wondering what stats you gave to your Adam
I did base it off the DnD system but did a lot of tweaking to suit my AU. Adam's stats were roughly based on the Barbarian class and Goliath race his highest stats were strength and con with proficiency in athletics. I also gave him bonuses on intimidation rolls. There's a lot of wiggle room for stats and it's down to how you want to set up your character but Adam was built to be a tank. Heavy damage output and high durability, which came in handy because most of the players were rolling rogues or bards of some kind so they were practically made of rice paper and risked dying if you coughed too hard in the same room as them at early levels.
