you stood in the kitchen, stirring the pot on the stove as soft music played from the speaker on the counter. you hummed softly, the door closing catching your attention, making you spin around in your socks. the voices entered the kitchen and you smiled at your two roommates.
“mate, you’re crazy,” max laughed, “i don’t understand how you did that.”
“because i’m a great golfer, that’s how,” lando said, putting his phone on the island as he pulled a stool out to sit, “how was your day, y/n?”
you turned back to the stove, “it was alright, i guess. got some work done, went to the store, the usual. not nearly as exciting as you two’s day it sounds.”
max smiled, patting lando’s shoulder, “mans was a beast on the green today, should’ve been there,” you shook your head with a smile, thinking about the last time the three of you were on a golf course.
let’s just say, drunk people shouldn’t drive golf karts. max continued, “oh, how was your date the other night?”
lando’s ears perked up, his head snapping away from his phone. you grabbed the pot with the oven mitts, pouring the spaghetti into the strainer, “it was alright, nothing special.”
“you went on a date?” lando didn’t mean it the way it came out. you looked over your shoulder at him, “with who?”
“some guy who was all over her the other night at the club,” max said, “was it not good?”
“he’s kind of a douche,” you said, bringing the spaghetti back to the pot and adding the sauce, “didn’t have a good time.”
“sorry to hear that, y/n,” max said before standing up, “‘mgonna go shower.”
you and lando nodded, his eyes going back to watch you as you fixed dinner. you met his eyes, “you have a staring problem, norris.”
“you didn’t tell me you were going to go on a date with that guy.” he said. you dropped the spoon in the pot, reaching up to grab plates for everyone.
“didn’t know i had to tell you all of a sudden.” you shrugged. he stood from his seat, walking over to you. you backed up against the counter, ignoring the butterflies in your stomach as he placed his hands on the counter, basically trapping you between the counter and him. he had a slight sunburn on his nose from being in the sun all afternoon, his sunglasses were still pushing back his curls, and his eyes were damn near mesmerizing.
“suppose you don’t,” he said, “did he bring you flowers at least?”
you shook your head and he clicked his tongue, reaching behind you for a plate, “that’s a shame. i would’ve brought your favorite.”
“do you even know my favorite?” you asked, eyebrows furrowed as he turned around to the stove. he put his plate down on the counter next to you.
“of course i do,” he said, “your favorite flower is a sunflower, and if im not mistaken you have a tattoo of a sunflower right…” he trailed off, lifting up the edge of your hoodie and pointing to your hip, “here.”
his finger touched the exact spot the tattoo was, his touch burning through the fabric of your sweatpants. his smirked as you met his eyes again, grabbing his plate as he moved back to the other side of the island. of course he knew where it was, it wasn’t like he hadn’t seen it before. he knew all the ins and outs of your body at this point.
“dinner smells good,” max said as he reappeared, in a t-shirt and a pair of pajama pants. he looked at you with furrowed eyebrows as you tried to regain your composure, “you alright? look like you just ran a marathon.”
you nodded, grabbing your own dinner, “i’m good.”
he nodded but still gave you a look. after dinner, max went to go stream but lando stayed back to help you clean up. you were washing dishes as he placed them in the sink. once all of them were collected, he wrapped his arms around your middle. you leaned back slightly, tilting your head to the side to let him place his head on your shoulder.
“going on dates with other guys when you still fold every time i do this?” he joked and you huffed, laughing softly.
“i don’t fold every time,” you said, “i pick and choose, and i guess today is your lucky day.”
he pressed a gentle kiss to your jaw and you couldn’t help the soft noise that came from your throat, “hmm? don’t fold every time?”
you rolled your eyes, “it’s been a while.”
“too long,” he mumbled against your shoulder.
“i need a shower,” you complained, turning around in his arms.
“me too,” he said, brushing a stray hair from your face, “wanna save some water?”
you laughed, shaking your head, “you shower with the water too cold.”
“you’re the one who likes it boiling hot! it’s a wonder you don’t pass out in there.”
you rolled your eyes, “maybe you’re just dramatic, did you think of that?”
he fake gasped, “me? dramatic? never.”
you nodded, stepping away from him, “keep telling yourself that.”
“seriously, come shower with me,” he grabbed your hips, pulling you back to him. you let out a soft laugh as he pouted, “please.”
you let his lips go to your neck, giving into him the second time today, “no, lan.”
“cmon,” he said, “it’s the least you could do for going on a date behind my back.”
“you were the one who wanted to keep this,” you waved your finger back and forth between your two bodies, “a secret.”
“not anymore,” he said, “i’ve thought about it, let me take you on a date. a proper one. i’ll get you flowers, take you to the restaurant downtown you love that you go to with your friends. i’ll pull all the stops, you deserve it.”
you smiled softly, “only if you promise to wear that black button up shirt you wore last weekend.”
he raised an eyebrow, “you liked that, huh?”
“maybe,” you smirked up at him.
“okay, then you have to wear that red dress you wore on the night out the other night.”
“deal.”
he smiled before lifting you up off your feet. you laughed, wrapping your arms around his neck, “where are we going?”
“my bed,” he said, carrying you down the hallway and shutting his bedroom door with his foot, “because now i can’t stop picturing you in that dress.”
“thought you wanted to shower?”
he sat you down on his lap, hands wandering under your hoodie as yours tugged on the hem of his golf shirt, “need you more than a shower right now.”

Under star-lit skies - Moon/Sun x reader part 1
Okay so I started writing this cuz my obsession for Sun and Moon came back since I keep getting posts and fanart of them so here is the first part of the fanfic you can read it on Ao3 linked in my bio :3c
Tumblr media
it was one of those days, one where you and your class had to go to a stupid location outside of town. You weren’t eager about it since you preferred being closed in the confinement of your dorm room, but an outing was necessary even for you. You got up from your bed unwillingly and started getting dressed, some sweatpants a t-shirt and a hoodie on top, was pretty easygoing and comfortable for a day out.
you weren’t sure where you were going until it came into focus, the Freddy Fazbear Pizzaplex for some reason you weren’t going to question it since your school did choose some random places all the time, not caring if it’s educational or not, but you guessed it was because of the way the pizzaplex was built, could be really interesting or maybe how the animatronics worked. You all went into the pizzaplex being greeted by some basic-looking bots holding maps
“Take a map, take a map,,
you take one and look the other way a little creeped out, you hope those poor things weren’t sentient like the bigger ones otherwise this would’ve been fucked up. The tour starts then, going around the entire pizzaplex from Gator golf to Roxy raceway, it was pleasant meeting the big animatronics in charge of entertainment. Roxy, in charge of Roxy Raceway, was a wolf animatronic with long grey hair and a puff of green in the front, while Gator Golf was attended by Monty, an alligator-like animatronic with icon star-shaped sunglasses, he was pretty cool. Then you arrived at the star of the gang Freddy Fazbear himself, he was a nice bear animatronic with a little top hat on his head and an iconic earring on his left ear. He waved at everyone with a happy smile on his face, you waved back catching his attention, noticing you he winked at you also doing finger guns, you smiled and blushed a little bit at that (blushing over an animatronic? Are you okay??)
You then arrived at your last stop, the Superstar Daycare. It was a place full of kids, also full of toys and arts&crafts stuff (of course like the name said it was a daycare) but something caught your eye, the animatronic that was attending the children, it was a jester-like robot with a sun for a head that could spin around when it wanted to
“Hello everyone! I am Sun! the daycare attendant I hope you guys had a lovely tour so far!,,
he says lively his rays on his head spinning around happily, Sun huh? (ironic isn’t it) You were fascinated by him, he was really, pretty? I guess you could call him pretty.
When you got back to your dorm you picked up your laptop right away and started doing research on Fazbear Entertainment, finding a lot of weird stuff about some lawsuits and shit like that, you didn’t care you went on to look if the pizzaplex out of town was looking for a job, you really needed one and that was a big place so maybe they did need some human personal, you were also hoping you’d get to work near or in the daycare, you wanted to know more about Sun. Thinking about that you looked up the Superstar Daycare for some more information and found yet another lawsuit about the daycare this time, you read through it.
“my son was traumatised by your stupid daycare attendant and can’t sleep with the lights off anymore, whatever that thing did to him. You should decommission it right away it is not safe for children,,
you scrunch up your nose at that, because there is no way this person was talking about Sun seemed like a nice guy! So you did more research finding out the animatronic they were talking about was not Sun, but an animatronic called Moon, he was the nap time attendant and apparently, they were two separate animatronics, which intrigued you even more.
Doing even more research you find out they were actually looking to hire someone, it didn't say in which position but you weren't one to complain about stuff like that so you wrote an email and sent it, you weren't expecting a reply right away so you decided to go to bed.
It was dark, and something was bothering you but you couldn't put your finger on it, you found yourself in a jungle gym of some sort crumbled up like a pretzel, you started moving in front of you or what you thought was in front of you, while moving you could hear some sort of music, like a soft melody getting closer and closer until it stopped, you stopped as well, looking around now trying to understand where you were.
clang.
clang.
clang.
BOOM.
You wake up in your bed full of sweat and your heart beating super fast, you get your phone from your nightstand only to see it is 2 am, you definitely can't sleep after this weird ass nightmare you just add so you decide to start scrolling through social media. Before you get the chance to do that tho you get a notification from your emails, saying that Fazbear Entertainment sent a reply to your email, accepting your application!
You get up to do a little victory dance happy for it to begin.
tomorrow is another day.
Tumblr media
this is how they will look in the fanfic since they are separate animatronics here the one in the middle is my persona ignore them I insert myself in every fandom I go in lol!!

Part 1 - Part 3
Tumblr media
Piper adjusts the strap of her messenger bag on her shoulder as she rides up the escalator. This was the first morning she wasn't greeted with Merry’s cheerful expression as she walked into the Pizzaplex. Piper had been working in the daycare for almost a month at this point, she didn't need anyone to show her how to get there, but there was something odd about the bubbly blond being missing from her usual post. Typically, when Piper arrived, she was busy handing piles of maps to the line of Mapbots that were going through their daily pre-shift checks, wishing each of them a Faz-tastic day as they sped off. The Pizzaplex made Piper feel uneasy, being the only sign of life in such a massive space didn't feel right. She guessed she never really noticed that feeling with a friend by her side. She jumped out of the way of Staff bots that whizzed by her, carrying new boxes of neon balls over to the mini-golf course, bags of paper cups to El Chip’s. “Piper!” She nearly jumped out of her own skin when her voice was suddenly called. Her head snapped to the side, finding Merry heading in her direction. Piper froze in place, happy to see her friend, but terrified by the sight behind her. It was important to note that Merry was not a small woman. She stood around 5 '11, her whole body was broad and muscular from years of doing strenuous, physical labor, being the lead service technician here Piper could only imagine how strong Merry was. She would be willing to bet that Merry could crush her head like an egg with her bicep alone. So, at the sight of the hulking green alligator that sauntered behind her, absolutely dwarfing Merry, Piper had to stop herself from bolting to the daycare in search of safety.
“So this is the new DCA.” The Gator, she thinks his name was Montgomery, rumbles. “You didn't tell me she was cute.” He gazes at Piper hungrily, lips pulling back into a smile of sharp teeth. Piper swallows thickly, goosebumps erupting across her skin as she holds his leering gaze. There was a soft ‘tink’ of Merry slapping the animatronic’s arm.
“Stop it.” She shoots him a warning glance. “Piper, this is Monty. I figured I'd introduce him ahead of time since he’s going to be swinging by the daycare for a party later.”
“Yeah, I remember Sun telling me about that.” Her eyes stay subtly trained on Monty, not wanting to let him out of her sight. She could see him roll his eyes under his yellow and purple star shaped sunglasses.
“I thought you said it was just going to be me?” He mutters to Merry.
“Sun is going to be there to show Piper the ropes, okay? I know the two of you don't always see eye to eye-”
“That's an understatement.” He scoffs.
“As I was saying,” she cuts him off with an annoyed glare. “Try to get along.” Her expression softens as her attention turns back to Piper.
“It should be an easy day, you just have to keep them on schedule.” She reassures you. She groans as her pager beeps on her belt, she unclips it and quickly reads the message. “If it wasn't bad enough… first you have a golf ball lodged in your shoulder joint-” she trails off grumbling to herself. “Come on, I have to get you back to Gator Golf.” She waves for Monty to follow her. “We’ll catch up later, I want to hear all about your first party.” She smiles warmly at Piper, clapping her on the shoulder as she passes by.
“Guess I'll be seeing you later.” Monty winks at her as he passes by, quickly snapping his jaws in her direction so that she would get startled. He chuckles at her expression, giving Piper one final wave before he follows after Merry. Piper makes the rest of the trip to the daycare in silence, the whole interaction with Monty not sitting right with her. She sits on one of the brightly colored wooden benches in the daycare’s lobby for a moment. Piper remembers other men she had issues with in the past who started out acting like Monty just had with her. Being backed into office corners, trying not to gag from their coffee stained breaths as they stood too close to her. It took her years to shake the ex coworker who had started stalking her after she rejected him. She shook the thought from her head. She discarded her messenger bag in the staff only room before flinging herself down the slide with growing familiarity. She clatters into the ball pit, letting the feeling of the cool plastic pressing into her skin ground her from a moment as she allows herself to lay there. She hears Sundrop’s long, even strides approach her.
“Good morning Piper!” He greets her cheerily, pausing when he sees the agitated look on her face. “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, just had a weird interaction this morning.” She explains with a sigh. “I think I just need a minute to level myself out.” When she spoke again Sun noticed the unmistakable tremor in her voice, she was nervous. He sits down on the edge of the ball pit, not wanting to risk overwhelming her by invading her space, he figured it would be best to let her decide whether or not she would come to him.
“Why does she look scared?” Moon’s voice rattles in the back of Sun’s head.
“Did something happen?” If he found out someone had hurt you-
“Have you ever met someone and the whole interaction just feels off?” Before he had a chance to fly too far off the handle she spoke up, the sound of her voice reminding him that this was about her, he needed to make sure she was okay before anything else. “I know I probably sound stupid, but just the way he looked at me… I don't know.” She glances to the side at the sound of plastic clattering against plastic. Sun was currently wading into the ball pit in her direction.
“Sunbeam,” he crouches down next to her, a look of concern painted across his features. Piper had to resist the urge to reach out for him, he was the only thing that seemed to provide any comfort to her at the moment. “I want to make you feel better, but for the life of me I can't seem to think of how I can do that.” He lets out a soft chuckle.
“He called me cute,” his entire body froze as he remembered Moon calling her pretty the first day they met. “It made me feel gross, I don't know how else to describe it.” He carefully retracted the appendage that rested closest to her, the temptation of taking her much smaller hand in his own flashing through his mind, but he knew that's the last thing she probably wanted right now.
“I’m sorry-”
“Sunny, why are you apologizing for something he did?” His eyes finally met hers, perfect blue little ponds that stood out like sapphires against her pale complexion.
“Well it's just, the day you started, Moon called you pretty. We just don't want you feeling gross about us, too.” He explains in an almost embarrassed tone. Piper sits up, stumbling slightly as the balls threaten to send her crashing to the floor beneath them. She maneuvers herself closer to him, putting herself directly into his line of sight.
“I need both of you to listen to me.” Her tone was firm, Sun had never seen her be so serious before. “Sunny, Moon, you are both wonderful. I look forward to coming here everyday because I get to see you. I don't think you're gross.” She chuckles as she reassures them. Her cheeks grew warm as she continued, “if anything I’m flattered that you think I'm pretty.” She smiles bashfully at them, causing him to feel that strange pang in his chest again. “He made me feel small… objectified…” She carefully chooses her words, not exactly sure what the passing comment from Monty made her feel but it was definitely somewhere in the neighborhood of what she was trying to articulate to Sun. “The two of you have never made me feel that way.” She finishes quietly, her eyes averting from his. He shifts slightly, wanting to pull her into a hug. Before he had a chance to agonize over asking for her permission or to just let it go, Piper made the decision for him. She pushes forward, wrapping her arms around his slim torso, his metal body cool against her burning cheeks. He thought he had blown a fuse for a second, he couldn't seem to think. But as he glanced down at her everything seemed to fall into place. Her body perfectly slotted against his, the soft smile that graced her lips. He embraces her tightly in return, her shoulders noticeably relaxing as if being close to him like this was enough to erase all the stress from her body.
“We won't let him make you feel like that again.”
Tumblr media
Who Piper assumed was the birthday boy bounded up to Sun the second he crawled his way out of the ball pit. “Well hey there, Eli! Happy birthday!” The large animatronic scoops the boy up into his arms with ease. “This is Miss Piper, she’ll be here to help make sure your big day is extra special!” He gives Piper a shy wave that she happily returns. The boy's bright green eyes scan around the room.
“Where's Monty?” Piper caught Sun twitch slightly out of the corner of her eye at the mention of his name.
“He’s going to be coming by later when we go upstairs for cake and ice cream!” He explains, bouncing the boy on his hip as he carries him off to his group of waiting friends. The party itself was simple enough to handle; 15 kids, a few extra activities than the normal day to day routine, nothing crazy. Sun had decided to keep a close eye on Piper, the whole ordeal this morning obviously making her a bit anxious. He loved watching her interact with the kids, she truly was amazing at it. Sun couldn't help but smile as he watched her admire a paper pal she was being presented with, the face nothing but googly eyes.
“I need to apologize to her.” Moon rasps.
“She said there was no need to Moon, she’s not upset with us.” Sun responds.
“Still, I would like to say something.” He grumbles. “And I would like to find out who exactly she had an interaction with this morning.”
“Me too.” Sun glanced up at the clock, there was about an hour left until Monty was due to show up. “Here, spend some time with her before cake, I don't need you being more irritable than usual while he's around.” Sun makes eye contact with Piper, making the motion of opening a book with his hands to signal it was story time.
“Alright boys and girls, we have one more activity before it's time for cake.” She explains in her usual chipper tone, earning a chorus of cheers from the group. “We’re going to have spooky story time with Moondrop.” She lowers her tone as she continues, setting the slightly eerie mood that made all the kids giggle in excitement. She groups all of them up, leading them into the nap room and having them all get settled around a fake campfire that had been set up in the middle of the room before turning off the lights. Sun stepped into the dark room and shut the door, Piper heard the soft whirs and clicks as Moon took center stage. He turns to face her and gives her a bashful smile.
“Piper, I know you said I didn't have to apologize for calling you pretty-”
“And I meant that.” She cuts him off with a flustered giggle, not expecting it to bring it up to her face so suddenly. “From him it felt malicious, from you it was a sweet compliment.” She explains, trying to put him at ease. He offers her his arm, a routine she had gotten used to in order for Moon to easily guide her through the dark room. She rests a hand on his forearm.
“I hope you have your best scary story prepared, I feel like this is going to be a tough crowd.” He jokes, smiling at her soft laughter.
“Oh, I'm bringing my A-game, I hope you can keep up.” She winks at him. Piper takes her seat, Moon greeting all of the children before plopping down at her side. The small circle was filled with giggling as Piper and Moondrop took turns telling their spooky stories. “The old woman pulled the blankets over her head as the intruder's footsteps thudded in the hallway, where is my tooooooeeeee.” She draws out the word in a ghostly tone, earning squeals and laughter from the group. Piper pauses to laugh herself for a moment. “She hears her bedroom door creak open.” She mocks the motion of opening a door as she lets out a high pitched creak of her own. “The footsteps walk up to her bed, the old woman lays there as silent as possible. You have it!” She suddenly exclaims, earning more squeals and screams from the group that quickly dissolves into giggles. She feels Moon’s hand bump into the side of hers, she can't stop the blush that immediately spreads across her cheeks as her eyes land on his expression of pure adoration. There was a knock at the door before it was opened up, a staff member alerting you that it was time for cake. The children rushed out of the room in an instant, Moon and Piper chuckled at their excitement. Moon stood, offering Piper his hand to help her up from the floor. His fingers remained wrapped around her hand for a few moments after she had stood, his thumb running over her knuckles before he dropped it, clearing his throat and mumbling out an apology. The pair slowly walk up to the door, enjoying their last few moments together before Moon has to go back to sleep for the rest of the day.
“If that guy ever bothers you again I want you to tell us, we’ll make sure he won't bother you anymore.” His eyes flicker over her face, memorizing every curve of her features.
“Moon?” He hums at the sound of her saying his name. “Can I give you a hug?”
“Of course you can starlight, anytime.” He smiles softly as he carefully pulls her into his arms. Piper holds him tightly, knowing this would probably be the last time she would see him today. “Go have fun, I'll see you soon.” He whispers, keeping an arm wrapped around her as he slowly brightens the lights. She hears Sun take over, he jolts slightly as he realizes he's holding her.
“Piper,” he lets out a sigh of relief at the sight of her. “Did I hear right? It's time for cake?” She nodded, letting her arms finally slip from his waist.
“Cake just got brought in, then it's free play and we’re done.” She reiterates the rest of the schedule, knowing that sometimes when the two switch places they can get a bit frazzled.
“Let’s go have some cake then.” He places a large hand in between her shoulders as he leads her out into the main daycare, she squints slightly as her vision is assaulted by the bright colors as they leave the dimly lit room. The party room upstairs was somehow even more chaotic than the daycare on your busiest days. The cramped space was packed with children and parents alike, the kids running around at top speed, all hopped up on Fizzy-Faz and birthday cake. A little girl with braids ran up to her, hunching over slightly as she heaved from all the running.
“Miss Piper!” She yells cheerily. “We were wondering where you and Mr. Sun were!” She smiles at you. “Monty Gator’s here!” She juts a finger excitedly in his direction
“You should go say hello, I'm sure he'd love to meet you.” Piper responds with a grin of her own, trying to hide how nervous the new addition to the group was making you. The girl darts off, distracted by the swarm of her friends that had buzzed past her. Piper felt herself pale as she straightened up, realizing that Monty’s gaze was locked on her.
“Eli, it's time for presents!” You hear the birthday boy’s mom call. A smirk stretches across Monty’s features as he realized this was just the chance he needed to break away from the group to get you alone. All of the kids and parents gathered around one table as a staff member started bringing over all of his gifts.
“Well, well, well. Look who it is?” Her blood turns to ice in her veins at the sound of the deep voice that rumbles at her side. “What’s the matter sweetheart? I feel like I've been chasing you around the room all night.” He chuckles, taking another few steps closer to her. She shuffles to the side, keeping her eyes set straight forward on Eli.
“Monty, I'm trying to work.” She states flatly, knowing that wouldn't be enough to brush him off but she figured it wouldn't harm to try.
“So am I, I'm just making small talk with the newest staff member. Where's the harm in that?” She winces as he blows a hot puff of air from his nose against the side of her face. She hears the swishing of fabric, something grazes past her side but never fully touches her.
“Typical.” Monty scoffs. “Leave it to the birthday clown to always ruin my fun.” He growls. Piper finally dared to glance next to her, she caught sight of the familiar red and gold stripes and she realized that it was in fact Sundrop who had placed himself in between the pair.
“It doesn't seem like the situation is any fun if you're the only one enjoying yourself.” He snaps back.
“I don't know, I think Piper and I could be having a lot of fun if you hadn't gotten in the way.” Monty crosses his arms over his chest. Piper didn't miss the way Sun bounced his leg in agitation.
“Sunbeam, would you mind holding things down here with Brayden while I go have a chat with Monty.” Sun rests a comforting hand on her shoulder, nodding towards the staff member that looked bored enough to die.
“Sure, just be quick okay?” Her eyes darted between him and Monty nervously. Sun’s hands clenched into fists, the gator following him out into the hallway with a cocky smirk. The pair disappear into one of the other party rooms, leaving you to wonder just what exactly would happen now that they were out of the public eye.
Tumblr media
Sundrop holds open the door for Monty, letting it slam shut behind him as he steps in the room. “It was you, wasn't it? You're the reason she was so upset this morning.” Sun jabs a finger in his direction. The two kept their distance from each other, standing on opposing sides of the room.
“Don't know what that little tart would be so upset about, I just gave her a compliment-”
“You made her uncomfortable is what you did.” Sun cuts him off, making the other animatronic snarl.
“What's the matter Sunny? Find a nice little piece of ass that can finally put up with your obnoxious personality and you suddenly want to play the hero, huh?” Monty chuckles.
“Don't call her that.” Sun responds through clenched teeth.
“And what are you going to do about it?” He laughs. “You gonna fight me for her? Make some big display about how you're a good guy who's going to take care of her?” Sun averts his eyes to the floor. Monty chuckles at his mannerisms, “pathetic, you can't even tell her, can you?” He starts to head towards the door, deciding he had enough of this conversation. “Just don't beat yourself up too bad when I inevitably win her over. A girl like that would look a hell of a lot better hanging off of my arm anyways.”
Tumblr media
Piper’s head snapped in the direction of the loud slam against the wall from the next room, the party guests still too invested in Eli opening gifts to notice. She locks eyes with Brayden, nodding to the hallways and motioning she'd be right back. The first thing she heard as she exited the party room was the sound of two voices yelling at each other. She jogged to the room next door, peering into the window to see Monty and Sun grappling with each other, Sundrop at the obvious disadvantage. Piper slams against the door pushing into the room. “Well look who decided to show up.” Monty chuckles maliciously as he looks down at Sun.
“What a shame that your little girlfriend is going to have to watch me rip you apart limb from limb.” He snarls. Sun winds back his arm before his hand smashed against the side of Monty’s snout, leaving a pretty sizable dent in its wake. Piper screamed, slipping and slamming to the checkered tile floor as she scrambled for the phone. She rips the receiver off of the hook dialing the first number that popped into your head. Blood thundered in her ears, almost drowning out the sound of ringing as she prayed for an answer.
“Merry speaking, what can I-”
“They're fighting!” Piper yells into the phone, her voice cracking as she tries to fight back tears. “At the daycare! They're going to fucking kill each other!” She heard Merry slam down her phone as it went dead, no doubt rushing to try and minimize the damage. Piper couldn't tear her eyes away from the scene as she crawled backwards into the farthest corner from them, her whole body trembling. She watched in horror as Monty managed to grab Sundrop, lifting him clear from the floor before smashing him back down onto a table. He stands over Sun’s motionless form, grabbing him by the top of the head and hauling him to a sitting position.
“You need to remember your place, clown.” He sneers. “I'm at the top of the food chain in this place… Not… You.” Just before he had the chance to deliver a devastating blow to Sun’s head Merry burst through the door, rushing at Monty in order to tackle him to the ground. Luckily, at this point Brayden managed to quickly lead the guests to another location in the Pizzeria, leaving the rest of them to be the only ones left in the daycare. Merry seemed to have finally calmed down Monty enough to subdue him after a few minutes.
“Don't move a single muscle.” She warns, pointing down at him. “Piper, are you hurt?” She asks as she rushes over to Sun. Piper couldn't even respond, she just sat there staring at the animatronic who still wasn’t getting up. “Piper!” Merry tries again, a bit firmer this time. The redhead’s eyes snap to the blond, tears welling up in her waterline as the reality of what had just happened to her friend set in. Piper shakes her head softly, pulling her knees to her chest to make herself appear smaller. A wide eyed and breathless Brayden appeared in the door.
“How bad was it this time?” He starts, pausing and looking to the side when he catches a glimpse of Piper’s terrified form. “Are you proud of yourself?” He yells at Monty. Brayden shakes his head before cautiously approaching Piper. He kneels down a good distance in front of her. “Piper, why don't you come downstairs? We should get out of Merry’s way while she's working.” He speaks slowly, knowing it would take her a little longer to process what he was saying considering she seemed to be in a state of shock. Piper stands, slowly shuffling out of the room. She takes one last glance over at Sundrop. Merry had popped off a panel on the back of his head, a focused look adorning her features as she quickly works. The sight alone was enough to make Piper well up, tears sliding down her cheeks before she hurried from the room.
Tumblr media
Piper laid on her side in the dark room, a pillow beneath her head and a blanket draped over her still shivering form as she stared straight ahead at the wall. Brayden had moved her down to the nap room, figuring it would be best if she didn't have to see him take Monty out of the room. She hears the soft creak of the large doors being pushed open, the opposing end of the room showing a thin sliver of light before the whole room is plunged into darkness again. Piper could make out the subtle whirs of Moon coming out, she resisted the urge to rush over to him and crush him in a hug. The last thing she needed right now was the embarrassment that would come from Moon seeing her cry. He lets out a sigh before his eyes scan around the room. He finds Piper curled up in a corner, facing away from him. His shoulders slump slightly at the sight of her, he never wanted to see her scared, the fact he was part of the reason almost made him want to leave without disturbing her.
“Piper?” He calls her name softly, taking careful steps in her direction. She sits up at his acknowledgement, the sound of her quiet sniffling made Moon’s chest hurt.
“Please tell me you're okay.” Her voice was hoarse when she finally spoke.
“We’re alright.” He reassures her softly. “Some dents and dings.” He moves a bit closer to her.
“I thought you were gone.” Her voice quivered as it filled the otherwise silent space. Moon paused as it finally set in. She wasn't upset, she was worried. She watches the two glowing red dots, the only indication as to where Moon was in the room at the moment, study her from their distant position.
“Monty knocked my power supply loose when he threw me on that table.” He explains. She drops her head to her knees, the wave of relief that washed over her making her emotional all over again. This time, Moon didn't hesitate. His feet started to move before he even had a chance to process what he was doing. He sank to the floor, wrapping his long, slender arms around Piper. “I got you, Starlight. Let it out.” Piper didn't know how long she had been crying but she felt utterly wiped out by the end of it. The whole time Moon just held her, running a hand soothingly up and down her back. Moon gently takes her chin between his fingers, running his thumb over her damp cheek to wipe away any remaining tears.
“So I guess you probably figured out that he was the reason I was so off today.” She whispers, her forehead still resting against his chest. She didn't have it in her to meet his eyes with the state she was in right now. “I'm sorry.”
“What did you say to me this morning? Why are you apologizing for something you didn't do?” He cradles the back of her head gently for a moment, wanting her to know it was okay if she stayed like that, before retracting the appendage.
“Yeah, but you got hurt because of me.” She sniffles.
“Piper, I wouldn't change a single thing that happened to me today. Sure, Monty roughed me up a little, that oversized gecko only thinks with his biceps anyways.” The joke earned a weak chuckle from her. “There's never going to be a time where I'm not going to defend you with everything I have. I can be fixed. What matters to me is that you're okay, and that you know there's someone who's going to do their best to take care of you.” Moon nervously glances down at her, he sucks in a sharp breath when her pretty blue eyes meet his. “We care about you, Piper.” Her heart races in her chest at his words, she wouldn't be surprised if Moon could hear it beating.
The door is suddenly shoved open, Moon’s face spins around as Sundrop’s familiar golden points fold out. Piper’s eyes immediately land on the massive crater on his temple, Sun quickly lifts his hand in a failed attempt to hide it from her view. “Look at me, I'm okay.” Sun reassures her with a patient smile. Piper nods in response, trying her best to appear braver than she felt.
“Alright, let's get you all situated. You have a real mean left hook by the way.” Merry chuckles as she walks in the room, rifling through her tool box. She freezes when her eyes land on Piper’s puffy red eyes. “I'm going to kick the shit out of Monty for you personally.” She points at her, making Piper laugh.
“Is it okay if I stay while you work on him?” She asks softly. Merry notices Sun give her a small nod. Seeing the way Piper still clung to him, like he would disappear if she let him out of her sight.
“Sure thing, kid.”

From the Official FNAF Cookbook, for @shrimpmandan (and other Monty enthusiasts!) 🐊⛳
Sorry for the shoddy pics, I was in a hurry. I don't have the book right now so I can't take better pics yet (ˉ▽ˉ;)
If anyone can help me with the image descriptions, I'd be super appreciative. Running on low spoons now & I'm not sure the two I made are any good. Gotta remember the visually impaired Monty fans.
The last one looks like you're on a date with Monty. He's buying you family-friendly non-alcoholic drinks before asking you to golf.
I own none of this content. All of it is © Scott Cawthon.
Text under the cut:
"Montgomery Gator's Beverages" "Running around the Pizzaplex arcade is definitely thirsty work. While animatronics rarely stop for liquid refueling, human visitors need hydration of the highest order. Cans of Sodaroni (a weird pepperoni-flavored drink) can be spotted everywhere, but a more sophisticated and enjoyable selection of beverages are about to be revealed. Cheers!"
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Monty Gator's Green with Envy!" "With his glamrock attitude and star-shaped sunglasses, Monty Gator makes a healthy smoothie that puts all other Pizzaplex drinks in the shade. It's speedy to make, so use your spare time for a quick game of Gator Golf!"
Serves: 2 | Preparation Time: 10 Minutes
What You Will Need: 1 apple, cored 1 banana, peeled 1 tsp grated fresh ginger Small handful of spinach Small handful of kale 1 Tbsp chia seeds 1/4 cucumber 15 mint leaves Juice of 2 limes 3 ice cubes Scant 1 cup/7 oz/200 ml apple juice, plus extra if needed 1 tbsp honey
Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
If it feels thick, add more apple juice. Serve right away. This is certainly a boost you need first thing in the morning.
"Monty Mystery Mix is a strange green pizza-topping goop which can be used to lure- and finally destroy- Chica. Mean and green!"
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
"Monty's Mouthwatering Melon Meltdown" "Show that you have a smooth side, too, by serving up this marvelous fruity mocktail. The watermelon, mint, lime, honey, and soda combo comes together perfectly for quite a unique taste. Top work!
Makes: 2 | Preparation Time: 10 Minutes
What You Will Need: 3/4 cup/7 oz/200 g watermelon, seeds removed 1 tbsp honey 5 mint leaves Juice of 2 limes 1 1/4 cups/10 fl oz/300 ml soda water, chilled
To Serve: Ice, for the glasses 2 Tbsp grenadine (optional) Extra mint leaves 2 slices lime 2 watermelon wedges
Put the watermelon in a blender with the honey, mint leaves, and lime juice and blend until smooth. Add the soda water and blend for another couple seconds.
Add ice to two tall glasses, top with the watermelon drink, and pour in the grenadine, if using. Garnish each glass with mint leaves, a watermelon wedge, and a slice of lime. Serve immediately.
"Freddy Fact: Don't forget to visit Monty's Gator Golf (aka Monty Gold and formerly Monty's Wild Golf). Home of the Hurricane Hole-in-One!"
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I hope it's not to difficult to read. IDK why there wasn't a "hurricane hole-in-one" drink.

OC #3 : Meet Jargon Justice The High-Tech Security Bot!
Tumblr media
The beginning | Previous | Next
-Built to look human, he's the closest thing to an android that the wide spread public is aware about. (That's considering the Gregory or any other character being a robot theory/stuff like that)
-Jargon is built to be 7ft
-He's basically the secret guest at Disney and other theme parks but for the pizza plex. He walks around and makes sure that no one is breaking any rules and enforces them as well as protects the guest from any harm.
-He is the only animatronic without a safety mode as he has programmed to land harmful hands on people and guests over the age of 15.
-Before the Plex was made Jargon was thought of in mind for it. To be a special specific bot for this special specific location
-Hence all the paperwork people must sign before entering the pizza plex for the first time and to have your guest profile be on record.
-He is not an attraction/entertainment bot despite how many people mistake him for it (most of the time on purpose)
once they find out he is an animatronic. (He blends in very well despite his consistent wardrobe)
-He wears sunglasses indoors all throughout the day for personal reasons.
-He doesn't like how people stare into eyes and he's gotten a bit self-conscious about the color choice that was picked for him.
-His room can be visited by any guest if he is there taking a break, or recharging, or getting maintenance done. He hates going down to the maintenance room.
-His room soon got to have many visitors over the course of just four months and he soon developed fans as well. Having to renovate his small cramped space into a sort of the green room the Glam Rock's have but not quite the same to spot the difference, making his room sort of an attraction although it isn't.
-Instead of his room  just being called his room anymore it's slowly over time became "Justice's Office!"
-Jargen has a back hatch similar to Freddy chest cavity. He uses it to store important items for himself or ones he confiscated from guest. (He's taken many Faz cams and golf clubs)
-Anyone by the ages of 15 and lower breaking a rule of the pizza plex get three warning from him, after that the child is sent to either the daycare, lost and found, or Justice's Office where he places "naughty kids" who need a time out or lost items.
-He then phones the number of the parents or the owner of the belonging.
-If the parents do not pick up after three tries every two minutes or do not retrieve their kid during the limited time they set for the said parent, Jargen sends the kid to the main office and the entire family gets a strike penalty from the Pizza Plex usually between a week or 3 months ban from the facility.
-If the owner of the lost/confiscated item does not try his office to retrieve it by the time the facility closes (which workers are supposed to direct them to if the item is not in the lost and found) Jargon gets to either keep it, throw it away, or repurpose it. He usually chooses the first option or the ladder.
-Jargon is a very serious animatronic. He does not like to waste time and does not get attached to any of his fellow security co-workers, subordinates, or superiors.
"Get back to work, please."
"Yes sir/ma'am."
-Except for one. (More on that later)
-His personality is like paint dry. He is a stale-made bot just wanting to complete the many tasks set upon him day in and day out.
-Even when they are completed before his inevitable clock out/power down time he does not do anything rather interesting.
"You like Jargon?"
"But he's just an exaggerated Security bot! Plus he's a boring party pooper" —*Monty and Roxy to Chica and Freddy*
-He will either sit in his office and read/interact with whatever anyone has given to him as a gift (like how people do for the glam rocks) or walk around the plex double-checking everything, even on the main stars themselves to see if they are functioning properly not to make small talk much to Chica and Freddy's dismay.
"How was your day Jargon?"
"No."
"Don't cha wanna chat?"
"No."
-He has a very advanced AI programmed into him that is always adapting to the world around him. If his systems has come across a stump or an issue it won't be long before he's figured a way around it or solve the problem
-If something went wrong today best believe that same thing won't happen ever again.
-He sometimes, to pass the time of his break, talk to himself. One of the many guilty pleasures he like to partake in, that he has kept secret from even the cameras at the Plex.
-It helps him cool his processors and he likes to recount everything he's done so far.
-No one knows he does this.
-Well not anymore...
-He's been hacked into many times before. All attempts have been futile.
-Until one day. . .

Chapter 2: I BATTLE THE CHEERLEADING SQUAD
Just because I'm taking the whole entire month of September and the majority of October off, here's the first chapter in honor of Will's birthday! I do still promise regular updates will resume on Halloween day and then proceed every Monday!
PJOPJOPJO
Alex came in the next day with a bright pink jacket tied around his shoulders in a very classic posh way, wearing a matching polo and green slacks with accompanying colors on his loafers, while sporting rose tinted sunglasses upon his head, at the bottom of the ocean. All of his green hair was swept to one side, and Magnus's heart skipped a beat, his toast falling into his lap jelly first to splat on his pants. Alex would be the most sophisticated guy on the golf course and still somehow make it look like the most useless sport in that getup.
"It's he/ him pronouns," Alex announced as he casually walked to his seat like he was ordering his plate of huevos rancheros for breakfast.
The book had been in the seat beside Magnus, like anybody was insane enough to think of taking that seat from Alex. The plain black somehow accentuated the look when he picked it up. He brushed his hand over the blue four on the spine with hunger to see what was so dark about this one.
"Um, it's my turn to read," Magnus said in a daze, and it was a good thing he'd managed that before Alex looked at him because then he lost the ability to speak. Hopefully it was temporary.
"Well hurry up and eat then," he dropped the book at his feat and dug into his own food, "or I'll happily read twice."
Magnus couldn't figure out why that was a bad thing for a moment, and yet his breakfast vanished faster than Percy's. He pretended the others were laughing at the chapter title and not his idiotic ass as things picked right back up as usual with these strange book descriptions.
Thalia sighed one last time and looked at Jason and the array of books that might contain his past. She really wanted to skip this one, ie delay it permanently by hearing of some of her little brother's times. She was obviously the only one though as everybody turned attention to Magnus for the next part. "I really hope that's not a euphemism for something Percy, or Annabeth's going to be very upset with you," Thalia rolled her eyes.
"I'm just hoping this isn't some elaborate pyramid scheme," Jason grinned, "Percy has enough trouble already."
"Boooo!" Percy called at him, even giving a thumbs down. "Man, that was the worst one yet!"
"Deadly pompoms! I knew those things were no good!" Alex nearly lost half his eggs he was laughing so hard.
Will made a deep noise of contentment, almost a purr to be hearing so much laughter first thing in the morning.
The last thing I wanted to do on my summer break was blow up another school.
"And here I thought that was number three on your list, at minimum," Jason snorted.
"Percy, there's not a world record for that, nobody's competing with you for this," Magnus agreed with a chuckle, but it was sort of depressing too. The school system was hard enough without this guy blowing literal budget holes in the teacher's planning.
"It has to happen though, remember?" Percy gave them a very sardonic brow. "If it doesn't happen, the world will end early! I still have another year of life!"
"And it won't be a pretty one," Thalia muttered. The Labyrinth was one of the quests Annabeth talked about least. Whatever had happened this summer, she was almost as ill prepared as Percy.
But there I was Monday morning, the first week of June, sitting in my mom's car in front of Goode High School on East 81st.
Goode was this big brownstone building overlooking the East River. A bunch of BMWs and Lincoln Town Cars were parked out front.
"I still don't speak car," Nico finally spoke up, hesitantly. A part of him still expected everyone to turn and yell at the sight of him.
Percy gave him the strangest, most awkward smile yet, like he had no idea how to even look at him after yesterday.
Then Percy gave himself a sharp mental smack. Nico and his maybe, hopefully not crush that he'd said was gone was ten times less strange to deal with than Alex being...Alex. So he answered almost as casually as ever, "they're 'middle class' cars," he used air quotes and everything. "Not some swanky private school with Maserati's and Porsche's, and not broken windows and running on faith rather than fume cars."
"Ah," Nico nodded his thanks, and sat back in his seat. His arms were crossed low over his stomach, hands in each sleeve like a monk today like he was trying to be as invisible as possible.
But he wasn't hiding behind the couch today to listen in like he'd originally intended. He'd actually spoken at all, which was more than Will had thought he'd do. The only backfiring going on was he'd either missed breakfast or eaten alone, and Will filed that away for when lunch came up.
Thalia and Will exchanged a pitiful look and kind of hoped Percy pulling mad gymnastic abilities or something would kick in soon, for once. Adrenaline distracting Percy from killing them all would be better than this awkward stiltedness.
Staring up at the fancy stone archway, I wondered how long it would take me to get kicked out of this place.
"What's your record?" Magnus asked into the slightly awkward silence that he'd tried to keep reading through.
"Two weeks," Percy sighed. "In my defense, I really thought that teacher's cat was a demon, and the milk didn't hurt it!"
"Well now you get a chance to do one better, be expelled before you even attend," Alex said plenty cheerfully for all of them.
"Just relax." My mom didn't sound relaxed.
"Do as I say, not as I do," Thalia nodded sagely.
"Okay mom," Percy rolled his eyes so hard it looked like it hurt, "thanks I really needed that translation."
"Don't mock your mother Percy, she's a good woman," Jason laughed, but Magnus kept reading before that could escalate, these were not the kind of jokes he'd ever find funny.
"It's only an orientation tour. And remember, dear, this is Paul's school.
"Ah, nepotism used for good, that's a new one," Alex said in surprise.
"It was a public school, it's not like he bribed anyone to let me in," but Percy didn't sound that confident. If a Blowfish library wing popped up, he didn't think he could blame the Mist.
So try not to...you know."
"Destroy it?"
"Yes."
"All relationships go through their own trials," Thalia said with barely suppressed mirth. "This is just a very great, early indicator if Paul's going to last in this family." She knew he did, but that didn't mean she couldn't laugh about it.
"Better than the usual cheating and lying bullshit adults deal with I guess," Percy grudgingly agreed.
Paul Blofis, my mom's boyfriend, was standing out front, greeting future ninth graders as they came up the steps. With his salt-and-pepper hair, denim clothes, and leather jacket, he reminded me of a TV actor, but he was just an English teacher. He'd managed to convince Goode High School to accept me for ninth grade, despite the fact that I'd gotten kicked out of every school I'd ever attended. I'd tried to warn him it wasn't a good idea, but he wouldn't listen.
"Not a great teacher then," Will looked very disappointed. "He should take his students observations into account, especially these budding adults."
"He actually loves to tell this story about his favorite essay that helped one guy into a great college he never would have applied for," Percy defended, and the ready response surprised him. He paused with a smile at all the memories over the winter and summer of how often Paul had been over, how easily his mom continued to laugh, how Paul never talked down to him like a delinquent from day one. "I think he was just trying to show off he could, though it wasn't nearly as impressive than if he'd gotten me a C in class," he finished with a chuckle Chiron still had the guy beat out on one point.
I looked at my mom. "You haven't told him the truth about me, have you?"
"How would that conversation even go?" The bitterness in Alex's voice could be missed by no one, clearly that wasn't a happy story.
"Historically, not well," Percy agreed in a quiet, gentle voice. He knew the others all envied him for his awesome mom, but that had come hand in hand with Gabe through the majority of his life. Gabe might not have known the truth, but he'd been a part of it.
She tapped her fingers nervously on the wheel. She was dressed up for a job interview—her best blue dress and high-heeled shoes.
"For what?" Will asked. The general question still held a hint of intrigue coming from him, the way he always talked to everybody. Like it was a vitally important question he couldn't wait to know the answer of, Nico smiled.
Percy didn't seem to hear that part, he just glanced at Will with his own proud smile and said, "publishing company. She was done with the first draft of her book, but wanted to check out some of the footsteps before she, um, buffered it? Or maybe buffed it? I'll be honest, I'm not sure what she meant," he finished sheepishly, addressing everybody in general.
It didn't seem to bother Will, and Nico marked that for future reference, trying to scratch off a list in his head of defining what he might have a crush on Percy about, and what he just admired about him. In a group, it was probably weird to expect someone's soul attention.
"I thought we should wait," she admitted.
"So we don't scare him away."
"You should definitely build up to something like that," Magnus agreed as if totally off hand. "Try jumping out of the closet at him a few times, maybe a few toned down side quests like trying to get past a murderous dog with a rubber ball, just to see how he takes to it."
"I should start with the one about how Grover got his mango chutney recipe," Percy mock agreed. "Crashing a wedding and piranha sheep are surely the best way to explain, this," he finished with a vague wave around being trapped at the bottom of the ocean.
"I'm sure orientation will be fine, Percy, It's only one morning."
"Great," I mumbled. "I can get expelled before I start the school year."
Alex laughed raucously Percy said the same thing he did, and he grinned along with him and even offered a high five which he happily air slapped.
"Think positive.
"The country ran out of schools and the universe can stop mocking me for this?" Percy sighed.
"There's the bright side," Thalia snorted.
Jason wasn't so convinced that every school would ban him for his record though. He started rubbing thoughtfully at his tattoo, but as always no real memory would connect to that random thought.
Tomorrow you're off to camp! After orientation, you've got your date—"
"It's not a date!" I protested. "It's just Annabeth, Mom. Jeez!"
Percy blushed the color of Rachel's hair, but Magnus readjusted the book to hide his slight hesitation over his continuing wasn't snickers like the others. He, stupidly, wanted to offer, something. Some dumb warning of a 'you better treat her like a lady,' when it was obvious Percy was head over heels in love with her from the beginning.
Uncle Fredrick was obviously kind of useless in that department though, and Chiron seemed the next closest thing and obviously had higher concerns. He just thought his cousin should have some family show support, but then, she probably forgot he'd existed already and this was just as dumb as it could be of him.
"She's coming all the way from camp to meet you."
"It didn't work out with Fredrick again?" The harshness in Magnus's voice was doubled from his own thoughts, and obvious by dropping the familial title.
"She stayed the rest of the school semester with him out there," Percy said cautiously. "She sent me an Iris message every few weeks about the goings on, they were being a lot more understanding when there was a monster attack, and it weirdly didn't happen as much as she thought it would. You know, she just missed Camp and came back earlier, she still called it her home." He finished with a carefree smile.
Will kept the comment to himself she'd showed up at Camp twice. One time had only been through word of mouth, Clarisse had made a passing comment about her being back while getting her ankle wrapped. Judging by her tone, she'd been expecting to find Annabeth in the medical cabin, though Will hadn't seen her. The second he'd only passed her leaving her cabin with a book bag and going up the hill to leave again. Her passing in and out of her home was not exactly his business to share.
Magnus gave a hesitant nod, but Jason wasn't so ready to let it go as he pondered over that. He'd originally balked at the idea of San Francisco being a dangerous place. Nico had said he found another camp in California he hadn't shared with anyone else. The obvious dots being connected only gave him the usual headache, but he still hoped that somehow, someway, he might have made Annabeth's time with her mortal family just the slightest bit easier no matter how foolish it probably was.
"Well, yeah."
"You're going to the movies."
"Yeah."
"Just the two of you."
"Mom!"
She held up her hands in surrender, but I could tell she was trying hard not to smile.
"She must be really nervous about that job interview," Thalia really was trying her hardest not to snicker. "You're lucky she didn't somehow slip into another baby story about you next." She was doing a terrible job by the end.
"Stories you still owe us by the way," Alex only teased, he knew Percy didn't owe them any of this and could leave to read these alone whenever he wanted.
He showed he wasn't going to be doing anything like that when he only groaned loudly and covered his ears to mock ignore them instead until Magnus kept going.
"You'd better get inside, dear. I'll see you tonight."
I was about to get out of the car when I looked over the steps of the school.
Paul Blofis was greeting a girl with frizzy red hair. She wore a maroon Tshirt and ratty jeans decorated with marker drawings. When she turned, I caught a glimpse of her face, and the hairs on my arms stood straight up.
"No," Alex began in awe.
"Way," Magnus barely finished since his mouth was hanging open quite a bit.
"I mean, we knew you'd have to run into her again eventually," Jason agreed. "Nearly killing her on the Hoover Dam couldn't have been the only time," she'd been perfectly comfortable in here beside Percy and still gave him the creeps with the way she'd watched him and pegged him an outsider. "I just expected her to pop up at Camp."
"Yeah, um, small world," Percy agreed with all the blurry confidence he could.
"Percy?" my mom asked. "What's wrong?"
"N-nothing," I stammered.
"Very believable," Alex snorted. "I think you need to start taking some acting lessons from Rachel."
"I'll get right on that when I'm done freaking out about her existing," Percy sighed.
"Does the school have a side entrance?"
"Down the block on the right. Why?"
"I'll see you later."
My mom started to say something, but I got out of the car and ran, hoping the redheaded girl wouldn't see me.
"And yet you're going into the exact same place she is," Jason pointed out in exasperation. "I don't get it, are you avoiding her or trying to get her alone to talk?"
"Avoidance, definitely," Percy was squirming in his seat like a burrito was about to be launched at his head. Annabeth and Grover were the only two who had ever overlapped with his normal life. Rachel just popping up like that set all of his instincts on edge like a monster was going to appear any second...wait. Gods, did he help defend Rachel from the cheerleading squad?! Agh, and there was the headache!
What was she doing here? Not even my luck could be this bad.
"Percy," Will said to him as if in fear he had a concussion for not remembering this. "Your luck is historically the worst."
"Exhibit A," Nico muttered, trapped at the bottom of the ocean with no memory.
Yeah, right. I was about to find out my luck could get a lot worse.
"I swear that should have just been the summary plastered on the back of these books," Percy groaned.
Sneaking into orientation didn't work out too well. Two cheerleaders in purple-and-white uniforms were standing at the side entrance, waiting to ambush freshmen.
"Were they smoking?" Jason asked with weirdly serious concern.
"Didn't smell anything," Percy shrugged. "The blonde one was kind of cute, but way to intense, she had that fake smile that gave me the creeps," Percy shrugged.
Thalia smacked him upside the head, hard, and called him an idiot, while looking at Jason in concern. Beryl had been a chain smoker, but she hoped he wasn't trying to connect plastic girls with the smell of cigarettes in general and he was just being an idiot too.
"Hi!" They smiled, which I figured was the first and last time any cheerleaders would be that friendly to me. One was blond with icy blue eyes.
The other was African American with dark curly hair like Medusa's (and believe me, I know what I'm talking about).
"Hmm, yes I suppose, but does this girl also make a mean burger?" Alex asked.
"And is she going to have a weird obsession with turning you into a statue," Magnus added uneasily. They hadn't gotten any repeat monsters yet aside from the gorgon coming back, so maybe this was how Medusa looked now and found a way to hide her gaze?
Both girls had their names stitched in cursive on their uniforms, but with my dyslexia, the words looked like meaningless spaghetti.
"Welcome to Goode," the blond girl said. "You are so going to love it."
But as she looked me up and down, her expression said something more like, Eww, who is this loser?
The other girl stepped uncomfortably close to me. I studied the stitching on her uniform and made out Kelli. She smelled like roses and something else I recognized from riding lessons at camp—the scent of freshly washed horses. It was a weird smell for a cheerleader. Maybe she owned a horse or something.
"In New York?" Will couldn't imagine the miles of acres from camp and where he'd grown up cramped around all those buildings.
"We have suburbs you know, it's not all Times Square," Percy shrugged.
"Or maybe her dad owns one of those cop horses, or maybe she can turn into a horse," Alex nodded along. "There's really just no guessing here."
Anyway, she stood so close I got the feeling she was going to try to push me down the steps. "What's your name, fish?"
"Fish?"
"That's actually a very fair question with a really interesting answer," Magnus grinned like Percy's was a mistake anyone could make. "Classification of what a fish is is so broad most scientists don't-"
Percy used just a tiny bit of his power, but enough he splashed Magnus in the face with just a few twitches of his finger. "Smart ass," Percy's laugh had them all grinning along.
Magnus brushed his damp hair aside and kept going while Will admired how easily Percy could fit in anywhere he wanted. He was positive Percy's internal thoughts of how he never fit in couldn't be too accurate of his time in mortal schools, he just never wanted to fit in there, considering it was the opposite at camp.
"Freshman."
"Uh, Percy."
The girls exchanged looks.
"Oh, Percy Jackson," the blond one said. "We've been waiting for you."
That sent a major Uh-oh chill down my back. They were blocking the entrance, smiling in a not-very-friendly way. My hand crept instinctively toward my pocket, where I kept my lethal ballpoint pen, Riptide.
"That is one of my favorite sentences," Alex snorted grandly.
"And I use it without mercy!" Percy pulled it out now and waved Riptide around like a writer on a mission.
Then another voice came from inside the building. "Percy?" It was Paul Blofis, somewhere down the hallway. I'd never been so glad to hear his voice.
The cheerleaders backed off.
Nobody had much more than halfhearted confidence these were just regular mean girls slinking off because a teacher was around. Maybe, if it wasn't for that blasted chapter title they could have fooled themselves for a while longer. Now they all just sat there waiting anxiously for Magnus to get to a half-time show that would probably end with confetti and death to a lot of innocent people.
I was so anxious to get past them I accidentally kneed Kelli in the thigh.
Clang.
Her leg made a hollow, metallic sound, like I'd just hit a flagpole.
"First the French guy, now prosthetic leg girl?" Thalia couldn't help but tease, "are you just out here fighting everybody with a disability Percy?"
"I have no problems throwing hands with you," Percy wagged the pen cap dangerously close to her nose.
"Besides, he's never tried to fight Chiron," Will easily slid in to disengage. "I'm just chalking it up to more of his bad luck."
Magnus quickly kept reading before that could escalate anyways.
"Ow," she muttered. "Watch it, fish."
I glanced down, but her leg looked like a regular old leg. I was too freaked out to ask questions. I dashed into the hall, the cheerleaders laughing behind me.
"There you are!" Paul told me. "Welcome to Goode!"
"Hey, Paul—uh, Mr. Blofis." I glanced back, but the weird cheerleaders had disappeared.
"Percy, you look like you've seen a ghost."
"I've done that too, and I'll take Bianca and Nico over those girls," Percy shivered.
"Um, thanks," Nico muttered in surprise, but then Percy winced and groaned, looking around in confusion, and Nico realized Percy wasn't literally talking about the time he'd talked to Bianca's ghost, but was making a morbid joke in general about them being children of Hades. His usual way of laughing off everything that Nico had always equally admired and been so conflicted about, because sometimes it made him come across as an idiot. He didn't know where to place that on his list.
"Yeah, uh—"
Paul clapped me on the back. "Listen, I know you're nervous, but don't worry. We get a lot of kids here with ADHD and dyslexia. The teachers know how to help."
I almost wanted to laugh. If only ADHD and dyslexia were my biggest worries. I mean, I knew Paul was trying to help, but if I told him the truth about me, he'd either think I was crazy or he'd run away screaming. Those cheerleaders, for instance. I had a bad feeling about them...
"Lots of people have bad feelings about cheerleaders," Alex agreed wisely. "Usually because they accuse you of stealing their phone and throw a bucket of piss at you after you got them expelled."
The book fell out of Magnus's hands while everyone felt the awkward silence, but Will got out first, "um, that was a little too specific Alex. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, why do you ask?" He asked casually.
There was only a hint of blood lust in there, but just enough Magnus swiftly decided he heard nothing and nobody was going to get the chance to say otherwise.
Then I looked down the hall, and I remembered I had another problem.
The redheaded girl I'd seen on the front steps was just coming in the main entrance.
Don't notice me, I prayed.
She noticed me.
"Rachel is a very observant girl," Thalia rolled her eyes at him. "She'd pick you out if you were in the mascot costume."
Percy believed her, and it still kind of freaked him out. The mascot was a roadrunner too, and he still didn't think he'd escape this.
Her eyes widened.
"Where's the orientation?" I asked Paul.
"The gym. That way. But—"
"Bye."
"Percy?" he called, but I was already running.
"And you're worried Paul's going to run away from you guys," Nico said mildly, just a little more confidant than the first time.
"Wouldn't be fair of me to have him do all the work, here I am putting in effort too," Percy grinned back with an even shorter hesitation than last time.
I thought I'd lost her.
A bunch of kids were heading for the gym, and soon I was just one of three hundred fourteen-year-olds all crammed into the bleachers. A marching band played an out-of-tune fight song that sounded like somebody hitting a bag of cats with a metal baseball bat.
"I seriously worry about the neighborhood you grew up in," Jason said, with no joke.
Percy had no nice response for that. By the time he came downstairs all he usually found was blood.
Older kids, probably student council members, stood up front modeling the Goode school uniform
"Ugh, I'd get expelled just for getting out of wearing a uniform," Alex gagged.
"Rachel didn't make it look to bad," Magnus said to be fair. He'd trade the stupidest bowtie every day just for a chance at something that kind of routine, normal, mundane.
Alex must have heard the wistfulness in his voice, because his voice went just a hint gentler than usual. "Mm, I've seen worse."
and looking all, Hey, we're cool. Teachers milled around, smiling and shaking hands with students. The walls of the gym were plastered with big purple-and-white banners that said WELCOME FUTURE FRESHMEN, GOODE IS GOOD, WE'RE ALL FAMILY, and a bunch of other happy slogans that pretty much made me want to throw up.
"Glad it's not just me," Thalia raised a hand, the other pressed theatrically to her stomach.
None of the other freshmen looked thrilled to be here, either. I mean, coming to orientation in June, when school doesn't even start until September, is not cool. But at Goode, "We prepare to excel early!" At least that's what the brochure said.
"And we always do what the brochure says," Will nodded saintly.
"Gods, please never give Camp a brochure," Percy muttered, he was terrified what Mr. D would put in there.
The marching band stopped playing. A guy in a pinstripe suit came to the microphone and started talking, but the sound echoed around the gym so I had no idea what he was saying. He might've been gargling.
"His warm up I guess," Alex said, "most people just do the classic picturing underwear thing, but I never could figure out why that would make you less nervous. Naked people usually cause more stress."
"I can't even begin to imagine what would make you nervous to begin with," Jason admitted, "let alone what you would do. Probably rip someone's head off."
Alex considered for a moment laughing that off, but then in a rare moment of vulnerability, he glanced at the book, and said honestly, "being trapped."
At least Oceanus wasn't trying to take away his identity, but the mystery of why only his abilities seemed gone while among the Big Three's kids bothered him greatly.
The reality still hit them plenty they were trapped. Even if it wasn't unpleasant, that didn't make it great. They all just made it better for each other with laughter instead.
So Alex finished with a snarky remark true to form, "and look at you all, not a single headless person! Let alone nearly headless!"
Magnus snorted fantastically beside him just like always before he kept reading, so the others just let it pass with a light chuckle too.
Someone grabbed my shoulder, "What are you doing here?"
It was her: my redheaded nightmare.
"How often do you dream of her?" Thalia had tried for sisterly concern, but ended with to much laughter for it to hold.
"Oh gods," Percy buried his face in dread and decided he would have to personally put these books through a shredder and then burn the scraps if he wanted to live when all his memories were back.
"Rachel Elizabeth Dare," I said.
Her jaw dropped like she couldn't believe I had the nerve to remember her name. "And you're Percy somebody.
"You told her your name was Percy Gotta-go," Jason easily recalled, "I can't believe she'd forget that, it's quite memorable."
"Not everybody always has a toilet on the brain Jason," Percy rolled his eyes.
"I wouldn't have to if your life wasn't trash Percy," Jason smirked.
"Boys!" Will groaned. Magnus very quickly kept reading, and Thalia sighed in relief. They were all getting a little to comfortable with each other down here.
I didn't get your full name last December when you tried to kill me."
"Look, I wasn't—I didn't—What are you doing here?"
"Same as you, I guess. Orientation."
"You live in New York?"
"What, you thought I lived at the Hoover Dam?"
It had never occurred to me. Whenever I thought about her (and I'm not saying I thought about her; she just like crossed my mind from time to time, okay?),
"Yeah, okay Perce," Thalia was obviously about to engrave this passage in stone so that Annabeth and Rachel could laugh at him forever with it and he sighed as he knew there was nothing he could do to stop her.
I always figured she lived in the Hoover Dam area, since that's where I'd met her.
"A reasonable assumption," the eye roll Jason added to that didn't help Percy believe him even before he said, "considering you traveled there from New York!"
"Not everybody travels the country in a week on a magic train provided by a homeless God named Fred," Percy said back in exasperation. "Unless she's some weird, rich version of Annabeth who just sporadically wanted a tour there, it makes sense!"
The others were to busy snickering he'd still managed to bring up Annabeth during this to stop them for a second, but before Jason's chuckle could subside and he did manage Magnus loudly kept going without prompting this time or they'd never finish this one dam chapter.
We'd spent maybe ten minutes together, during which time I'd accidentally swung a sword at her, she'd saved my life, and I'd run away chased by a band of supernatural killing machines. You know, your typical chance meeting.
"That is definitely going to be the next poster for a romcom. Call it Hauling Ass," Alex paused to give a very suggestive look at Percy that made him squirm. "You're a construction worker building the historic monument, she's a southern bell dragged there by her father-"
"Dude!" Percy finally protested. "Write whatever the hell that's manifesting into on your own time! And leave me out of it!"
"I hope this guy's never introduced to fanfiction, his brain would rot," Magnus muttered, making Alex laugh harder than ever, which wasn't very encouraging to Percy. It took every ounce of self control for Alex to suppress the question if Sally ever mentioned that stuff, but when Magnus kept reading, he persevered. He could ask Sally on his own time anyways.
Some guy behind us whispered, "Hey, shut up. The cheerleaders are talking!"
"I bet that guy's one of their girlfriends," Thalia rolled her eyes. "Hope she gives him a thumbs up for sucking up."
"Hi, guys!" a girl bubbled into the microphone. It was the blonde I'd seen at the entrance. "My name is Tammi, and this is like, Kelli." Kelli did a cartwheel.
Will gave a little applause just for the girl/ maybe monster being able to do that, it looked hard when he watched others try.
Next to me, Rachel yelped like someone had stuck her with a pin. A few kids looked over and snickered,
"I swear it's a staple kids will laugh at anything in an auditorium," Nico muttered, the noise always carried and sounded mean no matter who was doing it.
"I don't laugh at everything," Will gave him a very exaggerated pouty frown that Nico fought hard not to grin back at. He lost that battle, and he couldn't say that about many fights.
but Rachel just stared at the cheerleaders in horror. Tammi didn't seem to notice the outburst. She started talking about all the great ways we could get involved during our freshman year.
"All the normal things a half-blood could want," Percy gave a mock yawn to show how much he'd listened to that. "Like volunteer work that looked good on college applications and where the study hall was. I didn't hear anything about where the fire extinguisher was."
"I'm surprised they don't have your name engraved on it just for being there," Thalia agreed.
"You'd have to pull an active miracle to get a college education at your rate," Jason muttered for himself, because he felt bad Percy probably was going to be denied that with his record.
"Run," Rachel told me. "Now."
"Why?"
Rachel didn't explain. She pushed her way to the edge of the bleachers, ignoring the frowning teachers and grumbling kids she was stepping on.
I hesitated.
"Why?"
Percy winced as all six of them yelped that at once. Jason was already winding up for a rant as he began, "do you have any clue how useful that is? She can see through the Mist which you're repeatedly fooled by-"
"Paul," Percy's answer was sharp enough to stop him cold. He really hadn't gone into this trying to make the guy already disappointed in him and his mother look bad and everything that was about to happen because he couldn't have one normal day!
There was a beat of silence. "Sorry," Jason said.
"Yeah, it's fine," Percy sighed, letting it go as fast as it had happened.
Tammi was explaining how we were about to break into small groups and tour the school. Kelli caught my eye and gave me an amused smile, like she was waiting to see what I'd do. It would look bad if I left right now. Paul Blofis was down there with the rest of the teachers. He'd wonder what was wrong.
Then I thought about Rachel Elizabeth Dare, and the special ability she'd shown last winter at Hoover Dam. She'd been able to see a group of security guards who weren't guards at all, who weren't even human. My heart pounding, I got up and followed her out of the gym.
"I'm getting, follow her to the ends of the earth vibes already," Alex chuckled.
"Stop writing fanfiction about them," Magnus muttered to him, "Annabeth would not approve."
"I bet she'd get a laugh out of it," Alex insisted.
Percy was wincing and muttering uncomfortably though, and since they had no idea how she factored into Percy's life it was probably safer not to push his buttons about what they did get up to until all was said and done.
I found Rachel in the band room. She was hiding behind a bass drum in the percussion section.
"Are these monsters sensitive to noise?" Jason asked eagerly.
"Either that or it's a really good spot to grab lunch," Percy shrugged.
"Or the first place she found, you triangles," Thalia said in exasperation. "She's an untrained mortal!"
"Right," they both agreed sheepishly.
"Get over here!" she said. "Keep your head down!"
I felt pretty silly hiding behind a bunch of bongos, but I crouched down beside her.
"Obviously," Alex rolled his eyes. "Everybody knows you should hide in the brass section, that's why they're the ballsy ones." He concluded with a wink at Thalia, "and I mean that totally gender neutral."
"I'm sure they've never heard that joke before," Jason scoffed.
"Did they follow you?" Rachel asked.
"You mean the cheerleaders?"
She nodded nervously.
"I don't think so," I said. "What are they? What did you see?"
Her green eyes were bright with fear. She had a sprinkle of freckles on her face that reminded me of constellations. Her maroon T-shirt read HARVARD ART DEPT. "You...you wouldn't believe me."
Magnus had seen in person how much that could mess a person up. It still really bothered him he didn't know what to go back and do with this kind of information. Telling the homeless mortals who went on about metal angels they weren't crazy would only put a band aid on the grander problem.
"Oh, yeah, I would," I promised. "I know you can see through the Mist."
"The what?"
"The Mist. It's...well, it's like this veil that hides the way things really are. Some mortals are born with the ability to see through it. Like you."
She studied me carefully. "You did that at Hoover Dam. You called me a mortal. Like you're not."
"So she's always been that perceptive," Jason murmured in appreciation. Her gift truly was special, he wished he could pin down why he felt like he had a name or something attached to this odd power of perception and sight she had.
I felt like punching a bongo. What was I thinking? I could never explain. I shouldn't even try.
"Don't be so down on yourself Percy," Thalia frowned at him in surprise. "You're really not as stupid as we all like to say you are."
"Thanks Thals," Percy rolled his eyes and waved at Magnus.
"Hey," she grabbed his wrist, "I mean it."
He looked at her and saw she really was being serious. "Um, thank you," he was probably blushing just a bit. "I really didn't have a clue what I was doing though."
"Never stopped you from trying to do anything," she released his wrist with an eye roll of her own, resisting the urge to try and smack him in the face with his own hand. No way would she be fast enough to do that in the water.
Percy grinned at her. Coming from anyone else, even Annabeth, he'd have thought they were lying just to make him feel better. Thalia knew exactly how he felt, because she tended to have the same self-doubts.
"Tell me," she begged. "You know what it means. All these horrible things I see?"
"Look, this is going to sound weird. Do you know anything about Greek myths?"
"Like...the Minotaur and the Hydra?"
"Yeah, just try not to say those names when I'm around, okay?"
"And the Furies," she said, warming up. "And the Sirens, and—"
"Okay!" I looked around the band hall, sure that Rachel was going to make a bunch of bloodthirsty nasties pop out of the walls;
"We have yet to see that actually," Alex had the audacity to eye the walls in betrayal. "I'm starting to think Chiron and Grover lied to you about that, it's only ever caused Zeus to make thunder at ominous moments."
"Why push my luck?" Percy asked in exhaustion.
but we were still alone. Down the hallway, I heard a mob of kids coming out of the gymnasium. They were starting the group tours. We didn't have long to talk.
"All those monsters," I said, "all the Greek gods—they're real."
"I knew it!"
I would've been more comfortable if she'd called me a liar, but Rachel looked like I'd just confirmed her worst suspicion.
"First Tyson, now her," Will sounded like he was pretty impressed with Percy's ability to help take first steps into this world. "You're blunt and get to the point, but don't try to scare them, let alone impress them. All you're really missing is the orientation video to explain the rest."
Nico snorted in delight beside him and Will smiled with pleasure.
"Yeah, yeah," Percy was shaking his head in exasperation at all the praise. "Been and done the whole TV show routine, not looking for round two."
"One slow news day and I'll bet that reporter will be back around," Will said confidently, mock framing Percy with his hands. Percy flipped him off and said, "show that on TV!"
Magnus loudly kept reading before they got too sidetracked among the chuckling.
"You don't know how hard it's been," she said. "For years I thought I was going crazy. I couldn't tell anybody. I couldn't—"
Thalia tugged at the links in her bracelet with the same feeling of uselessness Magnus felt. What were they supposed to do, post a billboard with a number to Olympus Hotline?
She imagined for a moment borrowing these books when they were done with them, maybe giving some mortal a sense of salvation if they read it like this was some fairy tell, Sally apparently might be some help with that. A world they could never be a part of, but at least wouldn't think they were crazy for.
She glanced at Percy with guilt though and decided she might have to tweak a few details.
Her eyes narrowed. "Wait. Who are you? I mean really?"
"I'm not a monster."
"Well, I know that. I could see if you were. You look like...you. But you're not human, are you?"
I swallowed. Even though I'd had three years to get used to who I was, I'd never talked about it with a regular mortal before—I mean, except for my mom, but she already knew. I don't know why, but I took the plunge.
"I'm a half-blood," I said. "I'm half human."
"And half what?"
Just then Tammi and Kelli stepped into the band room.
"Half-fish," Alex supplied as if poor Rachel had really been left in the lurch.
"Paul is only his step dad Alex, keep up," Magnus smirked.
The doors slammed shut behind them.
"There you are, Percy Jackson," Tammi said. "It's time for your orientation."
"They're horrible!" Rachel gasped.
"A blonde, a burnet, and a red head walk into a band room-" Alex began.
"If you make one more joke about this I'll put you in the perconcussion section," Percy mispronounced with a hard look at Magnus not to correct him.
"Who says I don't already know how to play the bongos?" He challenged back.
Percy sighed in defeat, he really should have known better by this time.
Tammi and Kelli were still wearing their purple-and-white cheerleader costumes, holding pom-poms from the rally.
"Well those are going to be covered in blood and monster dust here soon," Nico said confidently.
"Don't forget the fire," Will nodded, "he can't leave school without it."
Percy groaned, as much because they were right as his head ached in pain, and because he believed they were right.
"What do they really look like?" I asked, but Rachel seemed too stunned to answer.
"Oh, forget her." Tammi gave me a brilliant smile and started walking toward us. Kelli stayed by the doors, blocking our exit.
They'd trapped us. I knew we'd have to fight our way out, but Tammi's smile was so dazzling it distracted me. Her blue eyes were beautiful, and the way her hair swept over her shoulders...
"Percy," Rachel warned.
I said something really intelligent like, "Uhhh?"
"And we can officially ear mark the moment Percy hit puberty," Jason mock clicked a pen to jot that down.
"When he sees Annabeth again it's officially going to be a, treat," Magnus sighed, gods he did not want to hear his cousin described by a male teenager.
"I can and will make your lives hell without drowning you," Percy pleasantly reminded.
Jason pretended he couldn't hear him and was still scribbling, making sure Percy could hear words like, "needs the talk," and, "date do's and don'ts," so Magnus very loudly kept reading over that before Percy acted on the urge of breaking his fingers like he was obviously considering.
Tammi was getting closer. She held out her pom-poms.
"Percy!" Rachel's voice seemed to be coming from a long way away. "Snap out of it!"
It took all my willpower, but I got my pen out of my pocket and uncapped it. Riptide grew into a three-foot-long bronze sword, its blade glowing with a faint golden light.
"I hope Rachel didn't have to many nightmares about that," Percy sighed, still fidgeting with the cap uneasily. It took a lot of concentration to constantly remind himself the adrenaline dump was all in his head and there was nothing to kill in here.
Tammi's smile turned to a sneer.
"Oh, come on," she protested. "You don't need that. How about a kiss instead?"
She smelled like roses and clean animal fur—a weird but somehow intoxicating smell.
"Note to self, nobody spray Grover with roses, then he'll be unstoppable," Thalia nodded for herself.
Rachel pinched my arm, hard. "Percy, she wants to bite you! Look at her!"
"Well that would get anyone's attention," Jason rubbed his arm and studied the book in concern.
"Are they vampires?!" Alex's eyes went comically wide. "Are we really about to get vampires up in here?" He looked ready to lunge for Magnus's throat to see for himself.
"Note to self, keep the fangs away from this one," Thalia said in concern.
She's just jealous," Tammi looked back at Kelli. "May I, mistress?"
Kelli was still blocking the door, licking her lips hungrily. "Go ahead, Tammi. You're doing fine."
Tammi took another step forward, but I leveled the tip of my sword at her chest. "Get back."
She snarled. "Freshmen," she said with disgust. "This is our school, halfblood. We feed on whom we choose!"
Then she began to change. The color drained out of her face and arms. Her skin turned as white as chalk, her eyes completely red. Her teeth grew into fangs.
"That is so cool!" Alex really did reach over to steal the book, but Magnus hugged it close and shuffled as far away as he could on his end of the couch. Alex turned pleading eyes to Percy, "did you at least get an autograph?"
"I'll start a book of monsters just for you," Percy said, rather nonplussed at Alex geeking out over something else wanting to kill him. It really was par for the course at this rate.
"A vampire!" I stammered. Then I noticed her legs. Below the cheerleader skirt, her left leg was brown and shaggy with a donkey's hoof. Her right leg was shaped like a human leg, but it was made of bronze.
"And that somehow made them cooler," Magnus agreed with Alex's yelp. "I'll give them this, it's original."
"They don't need compliments Magnus, they need decapitation," Nico reminded in exasperation.
"They can have both," Will said fairly. "I'm sure Kellie and Tammi appreciate compliments once in a while, it must get exhausting with how popular vampires are now adays to hear themselves described wrong."
"I just hope Percy doesn't ask if they sparkle," Thalia sighed.
"Uhh, a vampire with—"
"Don't mention the legs!" Tammi snapped. "It's rude to make fun!"
She advanced on her weird, mismatched legs. She looked totally bizarre, especially with the pom-poms, but I couldn't laugh—not facing those red eyes and sharp fangs.
"Then you need more fun in your life," Alex told him, he was still laughing plenty at this development.
"Cheerleader vampires, I'm surprised that's not a book of its own," Magnus agreed.
"A vampire, you say?" Kelli laughed. "That silly legend was based on us, you fool. We are empousai, servants of Hecate."
"Mmmm." Tammi edged closer to me. "Dark magic formed us from animal, bronze, and ghost! We exist to feed on the blood of young men. Now come, give me that kiss!"
"Maybe they shouldn't lead with the gross details of their existence if they want a smooch," Jason frowned, clearly unimpressed as he flipped his coin around.
"Dating is weirdly hard, kudos for trying their own approach," Percy shrugged, "it just didn't work on me."
"Liar," Thalia waved to the book where he'd yet swung his sword.
"I was caught off guard, not considering it!" He insisted.
"Uhhu, that's exactly what I'm hearing, not that Rachel had to save you," Thalia reminded.
Percy tried to splutter some denial together, but Magnus saved him the effort.
She bared her fangs. I was so paralyzed I couldn't move, but Rachel threw a snare drum at the empousa's head.
"Exhibit A your honor!" Thalia crowed.
"I want this case dismissed! Objection!" That was the only lawyer speak Percy knew though and sat back in his seat with a sigh at the accompanying laughter.
The demon hissed and batted the drum away. It went rolling along the aisles between music stands, its springs rattling against the drumhead.
Rachel threw a xylophone, but the demon just swatted that away, too.
"I would pay all of the money for her to throw a tuba next," Alex said with a disturbing kind of gleam that usually meant he'd be trying this himself eventually.
"You would make a great one man band act," Magnus agreed. Alex would be the only person who could make a guitar riff and then bash a monsters head in and still get a tip.
"I don't usually kill girls," Tammi growled. "But for you, mortal, I'll make an exception. Your eyesight is a little too good!"
She lunged at Rachel.
"No!" I slashed with Riptide. Tammi tried to dodge my blade, but I sliced straight through her cheerleader uniform, and with a horrible wail she exploded into dust all over Rachel.
Rachel coughed. She looked like she'd just had a sack of flour dumped on her head. "Gross!"
"First Annabeth, now her," Jason chuckled. "Does the value of a thank you just not mean anything anymore?"
Thalia stepped on his shoe, and he yelped in pain. She raised a brow at him and asked, "now where's my thank you for shutting you up?"
He tucked his aching toes behind his other heel and decided against answering like the smart kid he was.
"Monsters do that," I said. "Sorry."
"You killed my trainee!" Kelli yelled. "You need a lesson in school spirit, half-blood!"
"Anything but math club, anything but math club," Percy crossed his fingers and leaned forward in his seat.
"Technically attempted murder is not math club, so wish granted," Thalia sighed.
"He could start a junior detectives club, help the local police solve crimes," Will grinned.
"They'd arrest me on sight," Percy reminded with a huff.
Then she too began to change. Her wiry hair turned into flickering flames. Her eyes turned red. She grew fangs. She loped toward us, her brass foot and hoof clopping unevenly on the band-room floor.
"I am senior empousa," she growled. "No hero has bested me in a thousand years."
"Yeah?" I said. "Then you're overdue!"
"As leader of the squad, you'd really hope she'd be more prepared for the time restraints of multiple responsibilities," Alex said in mock disappointment.
"High school life is hard and stressful enough, Percy will help her balance some of it," Magnus reminded, and by that he meant cut her into evenly squared pieces of monster dust.
Kelli was a lot faster than Tammi. She dodged my first strike and rolled into the brass section, knocking over a row of trombones with a mighty crash. Rachel scrambled out of the way. I put myself between her and the empousa.
Will's adams-apple bobbed as he nervously swallowed. There were a few training scenarios where you had to defend someone on the ground pretending to be unconscious while a 'monster' attacked. Percy got in repeated trouble for those from him and Chiron for always taking more hits than he should.
Kelli circled us, her eyes going from me to the sword.
"Such a pretty little blade," she said. "What a shame it stands between us."
Her form shimmered—sometimes a demon, sometimes a pretty cheerleader. I tried to keep my mind focused, but it was really distracting.
"The first monster I've heard that seems to have adapted to your ADHD perk," Magnus said nervously. He wondered if it would work on those who wouldn't be naturally attracted to a pretty girl, or was the scent a universal lull no matter the case?
"Gods, please don't start trying to classify us with ecosystems and Latin names," Percy sighed, "I avoided biology as much as calculus."
"Poor dear." Kelli chuckled. "You don't even know what's happening, do you? Soon, your pretty little camp in flames, your friends made slaves to the Lord of Time, and there's nothing you can do to stop it. It would be merciful to end your life now, before you have to see that."
Percy's blood boiled at just the hint of that threat, making the water heat up around them all. Thalia tugging at the collar of her shirt caught his attention fast enough and he took a deep breath to settle himself, but that headache was back in full force. Chiron had warned an attack coming this summer on his camp. Whether Kellie knew something about it or was just taunting him, he needed to find out.
From down the hall, I heard voices. A tour group was approaching. A man was saying something about locker combinations.
The empousa's eyes lit up. "Excellent! We're about to have company!"
"Why is that a good thing?" Nico asked with growing dread. Monsters weren't usually psyched to have a mortal audience.
Percy didn't seem to hear anything at the moment but the words of the book, his attention laser focused and Riptide now fully in hand. They all sat uneasily in place and hoped this fight wrapped up quickly before he lost track of the fact there were no empousa in here to kill.
She picked up a tuba and threw it at me. Rachel and I ducked. The tuba sailed over our heads and crashed through the window.
"You got your tuba Alex," Jason half-heartedly reminded now.
"I wanted Rachel to throw it," he sighed with disappointment. "That's okay, I can imagine it landing on Kellie just fine without the book."
The voices in the hall died down.
"Percy!" Kelli shouted, pretending to be scared, "why did you throw that?"
"Oh shit," Magnus groaned, guessing exactly what she was doing. It really didn't seem fair Percy kept getting blamed when it was the monsters destroying the school and he just happened to be there. And he'd thought little of the justice system before this mess.
I was too surprised to answer. Kelli picked up a music stand and swiped a row of clarinets and flutes. Chairs and musical instruments crashed to the floor.
"Stop it!" I said.
People were tromping down the hall now, coming in our direction.
"Time to greet our visitors!" Kelli bared her fangs and ran for the doors. I charged after her with Riptide. I had to stop her from hurting the mortals.
"Percy, don't!" Rachel shouted. But I hadn't realized what Kelli was up to until it was too late.
Thalia tightly pinched the space between her eyes with defeat. Once again, she couldn't imagine chastising Percy for doing exactly what she would have done. He really would have made a great Hunter.
Percy still didn't seem to hear what the problem was now. He was tapping his feet rapid fire on the ground, tightening and loosening his grip on his sword with his urge not to swing it on anyone in here.
Kelli flung open the doors. Paul Blofis and a bunch of freshmen stepped back in shock. I raised my sword.
At the last second, the empousa turned toward me like a cowering victim.
"Oh no, please!" she cried. I couldn't stop my blade. It was already in motion.
Just before the celestial bronze hit her, Kelli exploded into flames like a Molotov cocktail. Waves of fire splashed over everything. I'd never seen a monster do that before, but I didn't have time to wonder about it. I backed into the band room as the flames engulfed the doorway.
"Paul," Percy muttered in a daze, shaking his head and finally coming back to himself in here with concern. He remembered Paul talking about some kid who accidentally started a trash fire when he'd tried to stub out a cigarette and Paul had gotten him off with a warning. He'd used that story as a way to assure Sally accidents happened and her accident prone son wouldn't be blamed for something like that.
That fire alarm had been really loud going off and still had nothing on the dread filling him at the shock, the horror on Paul's face. He'd almost rather it be Gabe sneering at him and calling him a freak.
"Percy?" Paul Blofis looked completely stunned, staring at me from across the fire. "What have you done?"
Kids screamed and ran down the hall. The fire alarm wailed. Ceiling sprinklers hissed to life.
In the chaos, Rachel tugged on my sleeve. "You have to get out of here!"
She was right. The school was in flames and I'd be held responsible.
Mortals couldn't see through the Mist properly. To them it would look like I'd just attacked a helpless cheerleader in front of a group of witnesses.
There was no way I could explain it. I turned from Paul and sprinted for the broken band room window.
Percy swallowed the bitter smell of smoke, the screaming and his own self-loathing for all the problems he caused. Paul would probably dump his mom after this, another screw up.
I burst out of the alley onto East 81st and ran straight into Annabeth.
"That's almost a step down from her usual grand entrances," Alex noted with mild disappointment. "I half expected her to show up and stab them for flirting with you."
"I don't know what you're talking about, her timing is still amazing," Percy grinned in delight just like he always did when the slightest exchange between them was revitalized in his mind, but there was something off about it than usual. He didn't glow and straighten up in his seat. He was starting to ask himself what the heck had possessed Annabeth to kiss someone so wholly not at her level.
"Hey, you're out early!" she laughed, grabbing my shoulders to keep me from tumbling into the street. "Watch where you're going, Seaweed Brain."
For a split second she was in a good mood and everything was fine. She was wearing jeans and an orange camp T-shirt and her clay bead necklace. Her blond hair was pulled back in a ponytail. Her gray eyes sparkled. She looked like she was ready to catch a movie, have a cool afternoon hanging out together.
Then Rachel Elizabeth Dare, still covered in monster dust, came charging out of the alley, yelling, "Percy, wait up!"
Annabeth's smile melted. She stared at Rachel, then at the school. For the first time, she seemed to notice the black smoke and ringing fire alarms.
The black singes on his shirt and wild look in his eyes probably caught on right about then too, Thalia winced. It was kind of sweet though, that Annabeth always smiled first at the sight of him and then everything else kicked in.
She frowned at me. "What did you do this time? And who is this?"
"Oh, Rachel—Annabeth. Annabeth—Rachel. Um, she's a friend, I guess."
I wasn't sure what else to call Rachel. I mean, I barely knew her, but after being in two life-or-death situations together, I couldn't just call her nobody.
"Why would you call her Annabeth?" Alex asked glibly.
"I have a cyclops who will chase you for a hug and I'm not afraid to use him," Percy answered.
"Hi," Rachel said. Then she turned to me. "You are in so much trouble. And you still owe me an explanation!"
Police sirens wailed on FDR Drive.
"Percy," Annabeth said coldly. "We should go."
"I want to know more about half-bloods," Rachel insisted. "And monsters. And this stuff about the gods." She grabbed my arm, whipped out a permanent marker, and wrote a phone number on my hand. "You're going to call me and explain, okay? You owe me that. Now get going."
"But—"
"I'll make up some story," Rachel said. "I'll tell them it wasn't your fault. Just go!"
She ran back toward the school, leaving Annabeth and me in the street.
Percy remembered her maroon shirt flapping around her and the slight burntness of one strand of red hair like she'd been too close to the fire too. A part of him wanted to go back in there with her. Maybe for once give Rachel and Paul that explanation they both deserved.
Annabeth was already walking off though. He could see her in his mind, her ponytail whacking him as she stalked away like he'd brought one of those empousa out to introduce instead of a mortal girl who had helped him out because he'd ruined her day too by attracting monsters.
He sighed, and knew he'd followed her. He'd follow her anywhere.
"Hey!" I jogged after her. "There were these two empousai," I tried to explain. "They were cheerleaders, see, and they said camp was going to burn, and—"
"You told a mortal girl about half-bloods?"
"She can see through the Mist. She saw the monsters before I did."
"So you told her the truth?"
"She recognized me from Hoover Dam, so—"
"You've met her before?"
"You didn't tell her about that?" Magnus asked in surprise. "No wonder she's so short with you."
"It was the highlight of the last book," Alex agreed in shock.
"Why would I tell Annabeth about nearly dying on a dam, or on a mountain, or in a museum?" Percy asked in exasperation. "There were evil skeletons chasing us across the country, Nico made them vanish!"
"I'm suddenly grateful somebody recorded your thoughts instead of you trying to explain all this," Jason frowned. "You are horrible at telling stories, including the one you just tried to tell Annabeth."
"I didn't ask for any of your opinions on this!" He snapped and slammed back into his seat.
"This chapter's almost done," Magnus promised, "hopefully, we um, get a change of subject."
"Um, last winter. But seriously, I barely know her."
"She's kind of cute."
"I—I never thought about it."
"That was probably the correct response," Alex still gave him a tragic look like he should be wearing a dunce cap. It was sort of funny to Alex, Annabeth was so instantly jealous of the first girl she ever saw Percy around. Weren't the Aphrodite kids at camp all over him? It would be interesting to to see if that was her real problem and it wasn't something else this had just brought up.
Annabeth kept walking toward York Avenue.
"I'll deal with the school," I promised, anxious to change the subject. "Honest, it'll be fine."
Annabeth wouldn't even look at me. "I guess our afternoon is off. We should get you out of here, now that the police will be searching for you."
Percy crossed his arms and glared at the cracks in the floor he'd caused. He felt like a shmuck, now ruining everybody's day around him too. There was no more laughter or jokes to be had because of him too.
"It's alright Percy," Will promised, "you remembering this can't be any more fun than the monster attacks."
"Thanks," Percy muttered, trying to unclench his jaw from how instantly stressed he felt from Annabeth being mad at him.
While Thalia shifted protectively beside him, wishing she could tell Annabeth to take a chill pill. The boy didn't know how to flirt, let alone find anyone other than her attractive.
Behind us, smoke billowed up from Goode High School. In the dark column of ashes, I thought I could almost see a face—a she-demon with red eyes, laughing at me.
Your pretty little camp in flames, Kelli had said. Your friends made slaves to the Lord of Time.
"You're right," I told Annabeth, my heart sinking. "We have to get to Camp Half-Blood. Now."
Magnus handed the book over to Alex with a wince. So much for his concern Annabeth would be the one to need someone in her corner, now he felt like he should be fleeing the scene.
PJOPJOPJOPJO
Here at last! Oh the things to look forward to in this book! My personal favorite is the three parter of the Demon Dude Ranch. Let me know what you're looking forward to?

Tifosi—All the Better to See
By ED TRAVIS
Golf, at least most of the time, is played with the sun shining if not beating down on us and many eye doctors strongly suggest that spending these extended periods on the course makes wearing sunglasses a must.
With this in mind we decided to go to the experts at Tifosi Optics and find out what we need to know about sunglasses and golf.
Our questions were fielded by Henk van Dongen, Tifosi’s Marketing Director and we prefaced them with a simple statement that besides sunglasses being an integral part of looking “cool” on the course, there seem to be a lot of factors one needs to know when purchasing new sunglasses.
ET: Can you tell me a little about Tifosi – how it got started and what markets it serves?
HvD: Tifosi was started in 2003 by Elizabeth and Joe Early, who are still the owners to this day. The company began in, and is still operated out of Watkinsville, Georgia. Elizabeth and Joe were working as reps for multiple bicycle product brands when they realized that the eyewear professional cyclists were wearing was out of reach for many fans watching the bike races. So, they decided to start an eyewear company focused on providing technical pieces at a reasonable retail price (back then $50-60) compared to the big brands at $150 and more.
Tifosi means “super fan” in Italian, which is exactly who the brand was built to serve – “tifosi” of all sports and outdoor activities. In its 20 years in business, Tifosi has expanded into the running, golf, and baseball markets, with the Swank series addressing some of the lifestyle requests we have received over the years.
ET: I was surprised when you told me polarized lenses are not the best for golf but why not?
HvD: Polarization is a great lens technology for some sports because it blocks light from getting through the lens, which reduces glare. However, this can create some distortion which can make it harder to read the greens when playing golf.
ET: OK, so what lenses do you recommend?
HvD: Our Enliven Golf lenses are certainly on the list of recommendations. Other lenses could be regular brown/amber lenses with a light tint if desired. Brown/amber heightens contrast, making them effective when you’re on the fairways.
ET: Why are your Enliven lenses preferred on the course?
HvD: The Enliven Golf lens is made from a shatterproof polycarbonate material. The color capture technology of Enliven fine tunes the wavelengths of light that matter most, making greens, blues, and reds pop with definition. Better color contrast means easier ball tracking and course reading. Here’s a link to a video with more information. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9p2-eTbDPQ
ET: What are your top three picks for Tifosi golf sunglasses and why?
HvD: Crit ($79.95) and Seek FC ($34.95) are some of our most popular golf glasses with the Enliven Golf lens. It has been a style long favored by the golfer. Shwae ($35.00), our classic aviator style, is also quite popular. It features integrated nose pads to prevent your hair from getting tangled up in the glasses, a problem common in aviators from other brands. This is greatly appreciated by women who tend to put glasses up and down on their head.
ET: What features should a golfer look for in sunglasses?
HvD: First and foremost, the eyewear should fit comfortably without creating pressure points. When you are wearing your glasses for hours, you shouldn’t notice/feel that you are wearing them.
Second, pick a lens that works for you – your eyes will tell you what is right. Don’t just put them on for a moment and look around inside the pro-shop. Ask the salesperson in the pro-shop if you can take them outside for a moment and look around. The environment inside any shop is vastly different from being out on the greens.
ET: Tifosi’s whole line is reasonably priced - Can you explain the wide range in pricing for sunglasses from other makers?
HvD: Our goal is always to deliver a product that has features and quality levels of eyewear 2-3 times (sometimes 4x) our retail price. We do not spend a large amount of money on marketing and hiring professional athletes to promote our products. Those cost savings are passed on to the consumer.
Thanks to Henk van Dongen for his interesting and revealing comments which are certainly worth consideration when in the market for your next pair of sunglasses.

The Reason Of His Rage II
Tumblr media
Summary: It’s a few months before the incident, and it’s the first night your life changes.
Warnings: Foul Language, One-Sided Friendships,
A/N: I am shocked by how many people liked the first part of this miniseries?? But thank you to everyone who has read it! And for the few people who have already been getting theories about it. Now we are getting to the non-heartbreaking stuff. Also I tried making a tag list, so many times. I do not understand what I’m doing.
________________________________________________________________
*Few Months Before the Incident*
The first time you saw Monty was when you were playing in Monty’s Gator Golf. You were barely paying attention to the game that you were playing with your friends. Your hands fiddling with the golf club between your fingers. It’s not like they were listening to you anyways when you tried saying something to the group.
So instead of trying to push yourself into the conversation, you stayed quiet. Your eyes move around examining the environment around you. It was so…green. So many plants and alligators all over the place. But then again, the place was literally called Monty’s Gator Golf.
Hell, you even saw the alligator animatronic a few times walking up and around on the catwalks. His movements were human-like, and what you heard about him from other people. He actually had a personality compared to the old animatronics at the old restaurant.
It was weird to see how much technology has moved along.
Just as you thought that, your eyes caught onto the gator. Once again, he was up on the catwalks but this time he was looking at you. You paused in your spot, your golf club stopped spinning in your hands as your grip tightened on it. You truly didn’t know if you wanted to look away from him or keep your eyes on him.
Maybe your eyes were deceiving you, but you swore once he realized you weren’t going to look away, he lowered his sunglasses and winked at you. Your jaw almost dropped, did he seriously just…? This animatronic just winked at you!
Your scrambled thoughts were interrupted when one of your friends called out your name, “(Y/N)! Come on, we’re moving onto the next hole!”
“I’m coming!” You glanced at your friend before looking back to where Monty was. You shook your head slightly before rushing after your friends. Who at this point looked like they were getting ready to leave you.
The rest of the day seemed to go by a breeze for you. Most of it being you and your friends going from place to place. Sometimes seeing the other animatronics, but none of them quite acted like Monty did. He captured your mind.
That was why your mind kept rushing back to when you were in the golf area. Maybe it was because you truly hadn’t interacted with the other animatronics, or you know, just because that damn gator did wink at you. You didn’t tell any of your friends this though, not like they would listen to you anyways.
Yeah…you knew you needed new friends. But these were the people who actually accepted you when they found out you had no parents and basically, no place to stay. They let you stay with them until you got onto your feet and went to your own place. Maybe these friendships were just drifting apart.
Well, that’s what you thought until later that night.
You left only for a second, a second to find where you accidentally left your keys. Yet when you went back to where your friends used to be, they were gone and the pizzaplex was basically an empty ghost town. Only a few people were left.
You knew you should have just left. That’s what they tried to do earlier, right? But no, you decided to look for them for a little bit. You just didn’t realize how late it was and once you did realize it, as soon as you got to a door, it locked in your face and the grey overhead slid over the doors.
“Freddy Fazbear’s Mega Pizzaplex is now closed. Initiating nighttime protocols.” A voice called out over the intercom.
“No….No, no, no, no-” You hit on the overhead, your eyes narrowed, “I’m still here!! Let me out!” A few minutes passed and you banged on the overhead, “Goddamn it!”
Your heart was beating out of your chest, you could almost hear beating through your ears. You were a little panicked but mostly? You were pissed. How could your friends just leave you!? They knew you were still here! Did they truly just not care about you anymore?
You could worry about that later. Right now you just needed to find another way out of here, if they’re was even another way out of here. If not? Then it looks like you were stuck here till morning.
You let out an aggressive sigh before moving away from the locked down doors. You were really going to give your so-called friends a piece of your mind when you get out of this. Well…if you get out. You might be arrested for trespassing by the time morning comes.
Oh, being an adult was so much fun.
You wandered around the building, making sure to be quiet and double down on searching your surroundings. You didn’t want to be caught by a night guard, if they had one. You just wanted to leave the building and go home, sleep. But your luck had to be terrible for the night. You didn’t find an exit.
As you looked around the building, an unsettling feeling filled your mind. Yes, the lights may be helping make that feeling go away. But it felt like something was about to go wrong, like you were about to get caught or something.
Your footsteps lightly echoed around the building, soft shadows falling along the walls.Your unsettling was starting to fade away; word, was.
Just as you went to turn a corner, a bot lunged at you. You stumbled back rapidly, hitting into the wall harshly as the bot seemed to get in your face. It’s glasses somehow stay on its face.
“Hi! Please take this map.” The bot held out a map to you, it’s eyes seemingly staring through you.
“Jesus christ….” You huffed out, rubbing your face as you took a deep breath, your other hand resting against your beating heart. You were getting close to calling it a night and just hiding somewhere. Why did it have to be so aggressive with trying to give you a map?!
You looked at the bot before taking the map from it, “...Thanks for the heart attack and map, I guess.”
The bot let out a content noise before rolling away from you. Most likely off trying to find someone else to hand a map.
You sighed before glancing around. Your heart seemed to be settling from the attack it just had. At this point, you truly had no idea what to do anymore. All the exits were locked and it wasn’t truly safe to be out in the open.
Well, the only thing that popped up at you was that map bot. But you weren’t expecting it to be here, and well, let’s be honest. You didn’t think that scare was going to compare to the rest of the night. Everything would be okay after this, right?
“Hey! You!”
Your body froze once you heard the voice. Your heart dropping into the bottom of your stomach. You didn’t know what to do until you felt your feet move on their own.
Run.
“Stop!!”
You ran as fast as you could, never looking over your shoulder. Your feet were pounding against the ground underneath you. Your heart beating fast as the adrenaline seemed to kick into you. Whoever was chasing you must be a night guard since it didn’t sound like any of the animatronics.
Your eyes searched the area around you as you kept speeding around the building. You went around corners, jumped over railings, trying not to fall to the best of your ability. Yet, the night guard still seemed to know where you were. It was almost like you were the prey, and they were the predator. They always knew where you were.
With how fast you were running, you were starting to feel tired. Your legs were screaming for a break, aches settling into them. But you knew if you stopped, you would get caught and well, you didn’t want to know the consequences to that. You were just going to have to find a place to hide out at.
You turned around a corner swiftly before lunging into a room when the door opened for you. Your feet fell over each other before you hit the ground, the wind being knocked out of you. Your eyes were slowly trying to adjust to the darkness of the room. Where were you?
Slowly gaining your breath back, you stood on your feet. You tried looking around before moving to the window in the room that was being blocked by curtains. You only moved the curtains a little bit, just a tiny bit to see a blonde girl searching around the area, a flashlight in her hand. Must be the person that was chasing you.
“I’d suggest getting away from the window. Unless you want to be found.” A voice purred near you.
Your eyes widened before you stepped back from the window, the curtain falling away from your hands. You kept slightly moving back until your back collided into a hard surface, your heart dropping. There is no way you were near the wall.
You gasped out as your head was forced to look up. Your eyes meet a pair of red orbs that were almost looking through you.
You were in Monty’s room.

RA characters at Pride (gathering #23: celebration)
- Will’s been going to pride parades since he was tiny. Halt and Crowley would bring him in a golf cart, or a stroller with rainbow balloons tied to the handles, and they give him a bubble wand and let him go nuts.
- So of course, when he and Horace start dating, Will brings him along too. Horace is a little timid at first—he’s not really given to wearing bright colors, so for his first one, he wears a black muscle tank and sticks a rainbow flag in the pocket of his jeans.
- Then a little kid hands Horace a string of rainbow beads, and it’s all over. Horace is collecting those rainbow beads left and right, absolutely decked out in them like a queer Christmas tree. (Will did not bribe the kid. He totally, absolutely, would have never stooped that low... or would he?)
- The next year, he and Horace get rainbow cowboy hats, and also jackets with uncalled-for amounts of fringe to match. They also bring Alyss and Cassandra with them.
- Alyss’s outfit is strategically rainbow-colored. She’s wearing a red hat, orange sunglasses, yellow shirt, green belt, blue shorts, and purple socks. Cassandra finger-paints the lesbian flag on her cheek.
- Cass is a glitter monstrosity. absolutely doused in it from head to toe. She and Alyss are still finding sparkles in the sock drawer come December, and there are no regrets, but she’s expressly forbidden from doing it ever again.
- So the next time, Cass manages to get her hands on a motorcycle, and she wheedles Alyss into riding with her in the Dykes on Bikes section of the parade. It’s quite honestly the best moment of both their lives. Will and Horace wolf-whistle as they roar past.
- Pauline wears a shirt that reads Free Mom Hugs, and Arald wears a shirt that reads Free Dad Hugs.
- bonus: halt used to moonlight as a drag queen when he was younger. his drag name? *ara slay*

Liam has problems controlling his length, Louis has problems controlling his tongue, Harry is very protective over Louis' balls and Niall? Niall just really wants to have a foursome at the golf course.
❁ Scent Partner by amomentoflove @daggerandrose | 4.4k | E | ABO
The name of the company was horrible: Scent Partner. Whoever was on the marketing team should be fired immediately for green-lighting that name. But the instructions were simple.
Alphas wear a shirt for three days and nights. The shirt gets sent to omegas nearing their heats to pick the alpha who smells the best to them. The company notifies the alpha and gives them the opportunity to say no. If both parties agree, they meet at a heat room for the omega’s heat. Everything is safe and consensual.
❁ All that Glitters is Gold by iwillpaintasongforlou | 4.5k | E
Louis is an exotic dancer in a club that is really, really not Harry's scene, but there's something about gold skin shimmering with glitter and a perfect bum in tiny shorts swaying around on a stripper pole that's simply magnetic. If shy little Harry becomes a regular here, then that's his business. And if Louis develops a soft spot for his favorite gentlemanly patron, then that's his business too.
❁ Come on in, the water's fine by bluegreenish @greenblueish | 9.5k | M
“This is our selection of cocktails this week. But,” Louis interrupts himself, catching the man’s attention after his eyes had already been flitting over the chalk letters on the board. “if you’re asking for my opinion here - I’d take a sex on the beach.”
Wiggling his eyebrows, the man laughs and steps closer to the counter. “Consider me intrigued.”
“Yeah?” “Yes. Sex on the beach sounds good.”
or, the one where Louis is set on enjoying his last summer jobbing abroad as tourist entertainer and it only gets better when a mysterious hotel guest with overly expensive sunglasses keeps coming back for his drink recommendations.
❁ Just Walk My Way by softandslow | 10k | E

Tumblr media
Previously on Good Life..
“Do you see anything?” he asked, suddenly hearing the boys laugh in cheer.
“It’s the Royal Merchant!” John B shouted in victory as he saw the wreckage on the screen feeling as if his father was standing right there with him.
Tumblr media
“It’s not there. Just..just pull the drone up.” John B said feeling disappointed when they didn’t see any gold after looking for some time.
“We can go again.” Fallon told him as she moved her hair from her face.
“Yeah, we can recharge the battery and go back down.” Pope said as he turned to John B  while also dealing with the drone.
“We’ve done it three time. There’s nothing there!” JJ shouted, immediately receiving a slap on the arm from Lani.
“Shut up!” Kie yelled at the blonde making him turn to her.
“What? It’s true.”
“Seriously, JJ?” the kook asked, giving him a disappointed look.
“If it was there, it would’ve been found on the metal detector. Someone beat us to it.” the shaggy haired pogue said sadly as he sat down and pulled his hood up, blocking himself from the situation.
“Or it was never there.” The blonde muttered as he began to sail back to the Chateau.
The next day, Fallon spent it with JJ while he practiced with the gun. Luke was gone which gave her the clear on going to the blonde’s house. They were currently in the backyard, Fallon ranting as usual as JJ got his gun ready.
“She was all over you on the boat and you’re just gonna ignore it?” she asked as she crossed her arms over her chest.
“She wasn’t over me, Fal. What’s up with you? Why are you so jealous?”
“Pfft, I'm not jealous, I just think it’s ridiculous.” she scoffed as the blonde finally turned to her in question.
“I’m not jealous!”
“Fine, fine. You’re not… if you say so.” JJ lifted his hands in surrender before turning back to his gun. Fallon was about to answer when the blonde started shooting his gun at a teddy bear perched on a log. After a few minutes, Pope came by and started screaming at JJ. The blonde couldn’t hear due to the headphones he had on which made Fallon stand up and tap him on the shoulder.
“JJ! They know.” the pogue shouted as the blonde took off the head piece.
“What?”
“They know.”
“Wait, wait. Who’s they and what do they know?” Fallon asked, looking at the boys in confusion.
“Just chill bro, all right?” JJ said as he walked towards Pope, placing his hand on his shoulders. Leaving the caramel haired pogue completely ignored.
“They don’t know shit, okay?”
“Topper knows I sunk the boat.” the pogue muttered not wanting Fallon to hear.
“How do you know they know?”
“What did you guys do?” the pogue finally asked with her arms crossed over her chest as the boys stared at her. They looked at each other and Pope nodded which caused JJ to look at the floor and sighed.
“Fine, tell her.” the blonde said annoyingly as he turned to walk towards the bench that was close to the house.
“Rafe and Topper jumped me while I was delivering on Figure 8 and well… then I kind of sunk Topper’s boat.” Pope rambled as Fallon stared at him in disbelief.
“Rafe? h-he wouldn’t do that. He couldn’t have done that.” she laughed dryly as her fingers ran through her hair.
“Yes, Rafe. Wh- you don’t believe me or what?” the curly haired pogue asked, looking back and forth between Fallon and JJ who was walking back toward them.
“Are you defending Rafe right now?” the blonde asked angrily with his eyebrows furrowed as he stood in front of Fallon.
“I just don’t believe he would do something like that.”
“Why?”
“Yeah, Rafe's a horrible person.” Pope stated putting his hands in his pockets.
“No, he’s not.”
“Oh, he’s not?” JJ asked bitterly.
“No.”
“Why are you defending him so much?” the blonde asked, feeling anger course through his body as Fallon felt more and more annoyed.
“Because he has never been mean to me. Not once!”
“He’s probably only nice to you cause he likes to stare at your tits.”
“Oh really?” she laughed dryly as she crossed her arms.
“Yes, really. You don’t even believe Pope when he tells you Rafe fucking hit him in the face with golf club. How can you just- Are you two fucking or something? Is that it?” JJ said angrily immediately feeling a sting on his left cheek. Fallon had slapped him with every bit of anger in her.
“Don’t you ever talk to me like that.” she said with gritted teeth and walked away to her car. She quickly drove away, still having the conversation fresh in her head. All Fallon thought about was wanting to go home, far away from the blonde pogue who had captured her heart like no other. That same night was the annual movie night that was held in the OBX. A lot of people go, especially kids. This year, Kie invited her to go with boys and Lani but after that argument, she wasn’t going anywhere.
“I’m so glad that they’re still doing this. You know? Aren’t you glad I made you come?” Kie smiled walking towards an empty area followed by JJ, Pope and Lani.
“Ecstatic.” Pope said dryly, rolling his eyes making Lani chuckle.
“My couch was pretty comfy. I’ll be honest.” JJ said annoyingly at Kie watching her place the beach chair and cooler on the ground.
“I have no opinion yet but for now, i’m liking it.” Lani smiled sitting on her blanket that was placed kneetly on the floor.
“We’re out in the green zone, man.” Pope muttered as he opened his beach chair next to Kie’s.
“Dude, tranquilo, okay?” JJ said, trying to get the pogue to calm down.
“What are you guys blabbering about?” Lani chuckled as she looked at the boys whose eyes widened thinking the kook had heard them.
“Nothing.. nothing.” The blonde shook his head and sat down, followed by Pope who was suspiciously looking around.
“Hey, I'm gonna go get some drinks. Does anyone want anything?” Kie asked as she rummaged through her wallet to take out the money. The boys shook their heads and Lani told her what she wanted, making her mutter an ‘okay’ making her way to the food stand. A few minutes later she came strutting back, turning her head to look behind her.
“Just saw Rafe, and he said, and I quote, ’Tell your boy that we know what he did.’” She said as she handed Lani her drink and sat down.
“What does he mean?” The kook asked, turning to the boys who were looking all around them desperately.
“Where is he?”
“Right there.” Kie said pointing towards the back where Topper, Kelce and Rafe were at.
“Great, the whole death squad.”
“Don’t look, bro.” JJ said, turning his head harshly as they huddled up to start muttering.
“Just warning you, bro. If they corner me, I’m coming out swinging, okay? Slicin’ and dicin’, I'm on edge, right now.” The girls stared at each other and looked back at the boys who were muttering something about a school of fish.
“If that doesn’t work, I got this right here.” He said holding up his backpack to let Pope know that he was protected.
“JJ? honey? yeah, umm. What’s in the backpack?” Lani asked, pointing at it as she looked at the pogue in question. She turned her head to Kie who returned the questionable stare.
“I’m sorry, JJ. Please tell me you did not bring a gun here. JJ, there’s kids.” Kie scolded, staring at the blonde with wide eyes.
“Kie, I didn’t bring a gun. Everything’s fine, okay?”
“Wow, that’s really convincing. I love that, JJ.” The pogue said sarcastically as Lani turned to sit straight.
“I’m never leaving you alone with my children.” she muttered, making Kiara chuckle as she sipped her drink.
“Guys, founding principal. No secret among pogues. What was Rafe talking about?” Kie asked leaning forward not letting go of the conversation.
“Girls, it might go down tonight.” JJ said, leaning forward closer to the girls. Lani lowered her sunglasses to look at the pogue in confusion and then turned to Kie asking for an explanation.
“What did you guys do?” The kook asked the blonde, making him turn to Pope and grab his shoulder.
“Deny, deny, deny.” he muttered and turned back to the big screen ignoring the girls’ questionable faces. After 30 minutes since the movie started, the boys stood up making Lani look at them immediately.
“Where are you guys going?” She whispered as Pope turned to her.
“We’re gonna wring it out.” he whispered back, making Kie look up from her popcorn.
“You’re gonna hold it for each other?” the pogues whispered, catching the kook off guard causing her to snort as she drank her soda. A few minutes went by when Rafe and his guys walked behind the screen where Pope and JJ had run off to. Lani saw this and slapped Kie’s leg.
“We should go check on the boys. Something’s probably wrong.” she whispered, making Kie look at the side of the screen to see Topper walk through it. The pogue nodded her head and quickly stood up as Lani leaned over to grab JJ’s backpack. They walked around the screen and gasped at what they saw. Kelce was holding on to JJ’s arms as Topper continued to punch his abdomen. A few feet away stood Rafe with his arm around Pope’s neck making him choke.
“Get off of him!” Kie shouted as she ran and threw herself on Rafe’s back making him let go of Pope. The pogue fell to the ground and started coughing harshly. Lani let go of the backpack and ran towards Topper, punching him in the back. The kook turned around and towered over Lani making her take a few steps back.
“Oh look who’s here protecting her little boyfriend.” Topper siad with an evil smirk as he kept moving towards Lani who stepped back in fear. JJ somehow got out of Kelce’s grasp and ran to stand between Topper and Lani.
“Don’t you dare touch her.” The blonde said with gritted teeth as he pressed a finger to Toper’s chest, making him stop.
“Yeah? What are you gonna do?” The kook dared as Kelce silently walked behind Lani to wrap his arms around her. She let out a loud scream making JJ turn to her as Topper took the opportunity to hit his head causing the pogue to fall. Suddenly, Lani got pushed to the ground along with Kie. They both lifted their heads and groaned making sure both of them were okay.
“Lani, the bag.” Kie whispered and pointed to JJ’s backpack that was right next to the kook. She quickly started rummaging through it as the pogue left to help the boys. Her hand touched a cold metal making her look into the bag, thinking it was the gun but instead it was JJ’s lighter. The same lighter he carried around everywhere. Lani crawled towards the corner of the movie screen and lit the lighter, puting it close to the white cloth. The fire started to spread across the cloth, the movie still playing, as everyone gasped and screamed while they ran away. The kooks saw the flames and let go of the pogue boys quickly making a run for it.
“Pope, you okay?” Kie asked him as she kneeled next to him, helping him sit up. He shook his head and groaned, holding onto his side, feeling his ribs scream at him.
“Why would you do that, Lani?” JJ asked loudly as he stood up, starting to limp towards the kook who stared at the flames in fear while clutching the backpack tightly.
“I was trying to help, they were hurting you. I didn’t know what else to do.” she said nervously as JJ got closer, yanking the backpack off her hands.
“You could’ve gotten hurt, Lani.”
“I’m sorry, I just- I- sorry.” she stuttered as her hands started to shake with anxiety. JJ grabbed her shoulder and pulled her towards him for a hug. It was quickly interrupted when Kie walked towards them as she helped Pope stand up straight.
“Guys, we have to go before the cops get here.”
“Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go.” Lani sniffled, grabbing JJ’s arm. They all quickly made it to Kie’s car and started to make their way home. The boys were dropped off first with strict instruction from Lani on how to treat the pain and bruises. On the way back to their houses, Kie and Lani stayed in silence for a bit, listening to Marley.
“I hope next year’s movie night is better.” The kook said, turning her head to the pogue whose eyes stayed on the road.
“It will. I know it.” Kie chuckled and leaned in to turn up the volume when one of her favorite songs came on.
The next day came around with a bright sun and a warm breeze. The pogues were all working, Lani too, while Fallon slept in since it was her day off. She was going to take the afternoon to look for a midsummer dress for the next day, which was going to take a while. The pogue started getting ready around 4, the same time her friends got out of work but she was still mad at JJ for what happened. Which caused her to not want any interaction with them. Her mom dropped her off and told her to give her a call when she had found THE dress.
At the meantime, the pogues and Lani were hanging out at Heyward’s after their work shifts. They were discussing something stupid JJ had said about the fight that took place the night before while Lani helped stock the paper aisle. None of them noticed, but the police car had just pulled up outside the door, looking for one of the pogues.
“Hey, Pope. Someone here to see you.” Heyward said, breaking the teens' laughter as they all changed their heads towards the door.
“Evening, officer.” Pope nodded at the man respectfully as Shoupe reached behind him, pulling out a piece of paper.
“I have an arrest warrant for felony destruction of property.” He said as he walked towards the counter, pulling out the handcuffs.
“What?” Lani shouted, walking out of the aisle to meet Shoupe in the middle.
“Get out of the way young lady. Hands where I can see ‘em.” He slightly shoved the kook to the side and walked towards Pope who was shaking in fear.
“Woah, Shoupe, what’d he do?” JJ asked, getting off the counter the second he saw his best friend being put in handcuffs.
“Look at the warrant.” he answered dryly as he pushed Pope to start walking outside.
“You’re arresting him?” Kie shouted grabbing the warrant in shock as she watched her friend walk out.
“You’re arresting my boy?” Heyward said, finally finding his voice.
“Why are you doing this? Be careful!” Lani yelled when she saw the sheriff push the pogue harshly. She followed Pope and Shoupe close behind, never giving them space.
“Shoupe, are you listening?” JJ shouted in anger as the pogue got closer to the car. Everyone started shouting at Shoupe about the whole thing, not letting him put Pope in the car which gave the blonde some time to stay back and think.
“It wasn’t him!” JJ screamed out of instinct, making everyone shut up and turn to him.
“It was me. He tried to talk me out of it but I was fucking pissed. Cause those kook assholes from Figure Eight beat him up.” He said pointing down the road as he walked towards Pope.
“I can’t let you take the blame for something I did. You’ve got too much to lose.” The blonde whispered to his best friend who was still in shock from the whole situation.
“JJ? Wh-what are you doing? No..no.” Lani said, walking around Heyward and Kie to stand in front of him. JJ ignored the kook’s sad eyes and stared at Shoupe.
“I’m telling the truth, I swear. Took his oldman’s boat, too.”
“What the hell?” Heyward said, sending the pogue a small death stare. Pope tried to stop him but of course, it didn’t work.
“Shut up, Pope!” Shoupe wanted to confirm what JJ was saying so he asked Pope if it was true, resulting in more shouting towards the blonde. Once the pogue assured JJ “wasn’t lying”, he got released from the cuff.
“JJ, why are you doing this?” Lani asked, pushing her hands onto his chest, trying to look at his eyes but he completely ignored her gaze. Shoupe walked behind JJ and placed the cuffs on him. He pushed the blonde towards the car causing the kook to be on the verge of tears.
On the other side of the island, Fallon was in the store filled with all types of dresses. Some were long and delicate while others were short and puffy. Fallon was never fond of dresses, the only ones she wore were bikini cover ups. She wasn’t fond of bright colors either which meant she was leaning to a darker dress. After what felt like hours, she pulled out a burgundy dress. It was long, with a crossed back, making her eyes sparkle.
As she inspectioned the dress, a car drove in front of the store coming to a stop. The driver lowered the window and stared at the pogue with admiration. He quickly parked the car and walked into the store, looking for her again. After some time, Fallon walked out of the dressing room, sporting the dress. She felt someone staring at her and turned her head to see the boy she least expected.
“Rafe? wh-what are you doing here?” She chuckled, walking towards him.
“I saw you while I was driving through. Just wanted to come see you… Hope that’s not weird.” He said starting to get nervous. Fallon blushed as her smile grew.
“Well, thank you. That’s really sweet. But now that you’re here, what do you think?” she asked as she walked backwards to twirl for him. He chuckled as she twirled.
“It looks… fantastic. It’s very you.”
“It is? Ugh, I’m glad it looks good. I wasn’t gonna handle my mother tomorrow.” They both laughed and Fallon continued to stare at herself as Rafe looked at her.
“Will you go to midsummers with me?” She quickly turned to him with wide eyes while he continued to stare at his shoes.
“Umm, I- well…. I would love to go with you.” Fallon smiled as he lifted his head with a cute grin. Rafe ran his hand through his hair giving her a full look of his bruised knuckles.
“Oh my god.” she gasped quickly grabbing his hand making Rafe hiss in pain.
“What happened?”
“Um, just trying to fix up my bike.” Rafe stuttered not wanting Fallon to know that he got them from beating the shit out of her friends the night before.
“There’s mechanics for that, you know that right?” she chuckled lightly making him chuckle too, in relief.
“Yeah, I've learned my lesson-”
“You two make a great couple.” the seamstress of the store said, interrupting Rafe as she walked out of her sewing room. They both looked at her and smiled, not really knowing how to answer that.
“Do you want me to take you home?”
“Yes, please. Let me get changed and we can go.” Rafe nodded as Fallon ran back into the dressing room to change back into her clothes. She quickly paid for the dress and walked out of the store with Rafe next to her.
He couldn’t believe Fallon agreed to go to midsummer with him. Rafe always thought she had a thing for JJ or someone else that wasn’t him. Which caught him by surprise when she said yes to the invitation.
“So you’re walking in with your parents right?” Fallon asked, breaking the silence as she stared at him and back at the road.
“Yeah, I am. I’m sure you’ll be walking in with me?” He nervously drifted his eyes back and forth between Fallon and the road.
“Of course. You’ll wait for me outside right?”
“Yeah, of course.” She smiled widely and turned back to the road to see that she was almost home. Rafe pulled up on Fallon’s driveway bringing the car to a stop.
“Thank you for bringing me home.”
“Of course, anytime.” They both stared at each other for a while until Rafe got the courage to start leaning in. Fallon didn’t notice but she started to lean in too. They shared a soft kiss as his hand went to her cheek. The kiss got more intense by the second as she grasped his shirt tightly. Rafe’s tongue swept over Fallon’s bottom lip making her gasp, giving him the perfect opportunity. Their tongues battled for domination as the car turned hot with the heat radiating from their bodies. Fallon pulled away with her forehead against his as she caught her breath.
“Wait for me outside tomorrow.” Rafe nodded and she got out of the car quickly walking to her front door. Fallon waved at him before walking in, feeling dizzy from the special moment. The kook smiled and drove to his house as a certain pogue stared at the car. JJ stood alone on the street, holding flowers, completely shocked at what he had just seen. He wanted to go to Fallon to apologize for what happened but instead he showed up to see the kiss. He took a deep breath and walked around, making his way back home as he threw a dozen roses to the side of the road.

A complete, very long list of all GBoard-combinable emojis because I can't find one anywhere.
Ok so for those who haven't seen my stuff (or have only seen my Bionicle posts), I sometimes emoji mashup redraws, with the recent fourth one using GBoard-based fusions. Frustratingly, there's no actual list of fusion-compatible emojis, so I'll attempt to compile them, in a list below the "Read More" thing:
Green/▢ = compatible with fusion Blue/△ = only works with certain emojis Red/◯ = not compatible with fusion
Also, since other people's terms for specific emojis might not match up with mine, I recommend using CTRL+F and then doing this to find the specific emoji you're looking for. This list is in the order presented in GBoard's Emoji menu. Some of them will be generic unicode symbols, I don't know how to change that, sorry for the inconvenience. Also, I won't aknowledge multi-category Emoji.
