Absolutely agree, Goku and Chichi are an odd couple. Their “courtship” is super sketchy, Goku has no idea how romantic relationships work, and Chichi basically treats him like a troublesome pet later on in the Z and Super series. Which is why I think the analogy works!

Chichi is like a kid who saw a puppy when she was younger and swore she’d take him home and they’d be best friends and he’d be her loyal companion forever, then saw the same kind of dog do something amazing (win a show, save someone, do an amazing trick, whatever) and immediately acquired him. What is she going to do with this talented animal? Nothing. Literally she just wants a dog to have around the house and it’s gotta be this one. Fortunately he’s a friendly himbo and likes her well enough to do whatever she says.

Also, to answer your question from the tags: got the pic from the internet with a “Goku wins tournament” search. The animation is a little inconsistent in that part of OGDB- Goku looks like a normal teenager when his shirt’s on but he’s muscular af when it’s off.

Chichi: this is Goku, he’s a world champion martial artist who defeated a demon king. I had to fight in a tournament myself to get him and now he can do tricks and farm!

Bulma: this is Vegeta, he’s a genocidal space monkey with anger management problems. I lured him into my house with shrimp on a string and now he barely even scratches the furniture!

Dragonball final tournament arc Goku was the original glow up, the amount of time I've rewatched that ep when Goku comes back all grown up and everyone wants to hit that, which mood, same.

Also Son Goku was a himbo before it was cool and i think is probably 89% of the reason I love himbos now
