I'm so mad that post was misinformation because there is actually an EXTREMELY important conversation to have about the production schedules artists are forced into. There's no need for exaggeration, the conditions are bad.
I work for webtoon. My publication schedule is weekly. While publishing I'm required 10-15 pages a week. Fully colored.
This means I'm finishing a 150 page fully colored graphic novel every 10-15 weeks.
When my comic is not updating, I am not getting paid. Any time writing, editing, or off is out of my own pocket. I don't get healthcare. They do not provide any assistants. They expect me to promote myself; they chose to deprioritize me before I even launched and gave me an end date half a year in. I never had a chance.
And this is the industry standard! Every company has artists forced into crunch hours, overtime, and burnout. Artists are literally dying early due to it. So many of my friends can't afford to go to the doctor.
It's unsustainable and untenable, and it's also the expectation our audiences have.
If we want to have this conversation, there's plenty of conversation to be had with the realities of the situation. It's bad as is.
i would give anything to watch a full movie on how the entirety of brooklyn came to be "spot conlon's territory". half of the brooklyn newsies are practically grown ass men, and they answer to this scrawny blond fifteen year old??
regulus is stronger than me if i was beefing my sibling and they had their codependent freak of a friend putting their two cents in i would've walked into the argument with an explosive belt on
people who don't like Wyll, how does it feel to be the weakest link when this man just:
Realised as soon as possible he had been tricked about Karlach and changed her mind about her, to the point of risking his own life and becoming what he thinks is the worst version of himself just to save her, because she is an underdog
Is kind, is funny and says dramatic things like "the Blade stands at the ready". if you like Gale, you don't get to use the excuse that speaking about oneself in third person is annoying btw
A character that clings to hope and fairytales in hopes he is good enough to the eyes of the people, because he thinks he was not good enough for his father given he gave up the life he had planned for him should score him so high up. SO HIGH UP
literally became a demon because he undertook a pact with a demon, thinking nothing too terrible could come out of it. King, the hubris. King, the dumbass???
Says things like "Gale slurped that thing like a horse with a carrot"
“What do you mean Nightwing’s tracker just disappeared?!”
Look, Dick wasn’t expecting to get snatched in the middle of patrol. He wasn’t even in Gotham! There weren’t even any rogues in Bludhaven as far as he was aware of!
Yet here he was, having blacked out after getting tackled he thinks? Something like that! Here he was in an apartment of some sort, even though the room looked like it was something more fitting for the manor, with the shadows literally tugging him towards the hall.
Look, when he’s kidnapped he’s expecting some sort of fight, not a dude whose visibly not human and visibly very stressed out and maybe close to a panic attack of some sort.
Why does he feel like he just got dragged into some sort of mess…?
Possibly a crack theory? Please tell me what you guys think.
In chapter 56, we see this picture of the interpersonal dynamics of Laios’s party pre-story.
There’s somebody not shown who’s attracted to the hubby-hunter and hates Laios (probably as a direct result). Somebody she considers a prospect.
There’s also one person who 1. We know was part of Laios’s party pre-story, and 2. Is not shown in this panel.
Am I crazy? It doesn’t look like it worked out, especially given that he left before she did, but do you think Dandan could have had a thing for her? Do you think that might have been part of the reason Chilchuck disapproved of her behavior so strongly?
I’m always so touched at the way everyone does their best to save and protect Jonathan along the journey. They’re clearly, obviously terrified by the Count, so you’d think they’d respect his wishes and try to help him along, if only to ensure no harm comes to them; and instead they try to warn Jonathan, try to dissuade him, give him wards to protect him. The carriage driver even rides like crazy to get there one hour earlier than usual in the hopes of missing the appointment with the Count — that takes major guts!
It's crazy that people still uphold show!Sansa as a well-written character and pretend that liking her is the pinnacle of feminism when it would be infinitely more impactful to acknowledge her terrible and misogynistic writing. This is the same character who, while written by two men, was thankful for the abuse she suffered because it allowed her to grow. The same character who we had to be told was smart because the writers were too lazy to develop or show her intelligence. The same character who had to rely heavily on the men surrounding her and ended up accomplishing nothing on her own merit ( and no, thinking that she deserved to be Queen doesn't mean that she earned it). She is not well-written, she is not complex, and she is not a feminist character. Which is fine! If you enjoy her then good on you, but please stop pretending that she's something she isn't just because you feel the need to justify liking her character
I also need a minute to go feral over Armand’s accent.
How is everyone on this show so good at those!?!
We don’t even need to talk about Jacob, but Sam and Bailey were doing a great job, too. I know Sam get’s some ribbing for his French (which is honestly not terrible, it’s just not as good as Jacob’s), but the way he does Lestat’s accent is actually really fantastic. The way it waxes and wanes and changes throughout the show is very deliberate and effective.
And now Assad, too?
Because Armand’s accent is a mess. It’s all over the place and I love it! It makes so much sense. The guy hasn’t even spoken his native language in 450 years. English is probably Armand’s like 15th language, that he picked up reading the minds of tourists and soldiers from all over the world. Of course it’s a bit of this a bit of that with some French in it and some Italian and some whoever knows what.
And it’s such an obvious thing now that it’s there, it’d be so easy to say ‘yes of course that’s what he sounds like’, but how many actors would put in the effort to play with that and how many shows would give them the time and space to do that rather than just tell him to do a generic RP accent and leave it at that.
Yeah let's also cancel Lewis Hamilton for meeting and having conversations with Putin... Yeah... Also maybe Seb too because he was also there???? Yeah... Right...some of you have never had a job where you had to talk positively about someone you didn't like or approved just for the sake of keeping that job.
idk which time ur talking about hamilton and putin meeting up and making friends, as the only time i can find that they've interacted was at the 2015 russian grand prix where putin was giving out the race trophies. hamilton, vettel, and perez were all on the podium for that race. correct me if im wrong and theres another time theyve met, but thats literally all i can find.
now, first of all, there's a big difference between having to interact with a political figure on a race podium, and choosing to interact with them freely out in the paddock, taking pictures with them, and praising them in additional interviews. there's also a big difference between being polite to the current leader of the country you're in that is known for killing/imprisoning people who speak out against him, and actively supporting an ex-leader who has (as far as we know) never actually killed someone for not being supportive.
if you ask me, it would've been unsafe for hamilton or any of the drivers on that podium to speak out against putin at that moment or act impolitely. on the other hand, the biggest trouble norris could get in for not praising trump and taking pictures with him is maybe a talking too back at the mclaren HQ. like, lets be real, it would be ridiculous and insane of mclaren to fire norris after all the time/resources theyve put into his development, especially now that its finally starting to pay off. it would be like shooting themselves in the foot, a move thats generally reserved for ferrari's strategy team or sauber's pit stops.
furthermore, you are simply assuming that norris' job wouldve been at risk in this situation. not once has it been implied that he was threatened or coerced into this situation. its even less likely that that has happened since piastri hasn't made any comments or taken any pictures with trump as far as i can find. for all we know, it could've been norris' idea to do all that. so, not exactly the strongest defense here.
and even if he had been forced into the corner and told to take pictures and play nice, he also took it a step further to compliment trump in other interviews saying it was an "honor" and there's a lot to "respect" about trump. hamilton has never come out saying any of that about putin. in fact, he has come on the record since then condemning putin and his actions. can you tell me where norris has come out condemning trump and his actions? no? that's funny.
