Why were pigeons abandoned? I’m assuming because technology replaced them but I can’t find a source

There wasn't a big need for them after the war and pigeons are culturally significant to a lot of people. They were a cheap source of food and fertilizer but (i know how I'm going to sound when I say this and I apologize) but my theory is the government did it on purpose to not only take a very useful livestock from the common knowledge of the American people but to also purposefully sow hate against different cultures.

I have a pair of basically broken headphones that are only attached by a rubber band on one side. Every now and then my dad puts new duct tape around it just to hold it together. It doesn't fix the problem but it does keep the headphones functional for a while.

My friends have repeatedly told me to just get new headphones but I just can't let this go. This pair of headphoens aren't even that good - they have just been with me for so long that I feel as if they are an integral part of me.

I wear my headphones until the adhesiveness wears out and I put it on my dad's table for him to fix again. I talk at my dad until I run out of things to be nostalgic over again and I fall quiet. I sit in the car with him in silence until I feel the ghost of love taps me on my shoulder and he gets on a plane and leaves me without saying again.

Dad, can you tape my headphones again?
