Maybe AIs with hypersomniac reader? I always find stuff about insomnia and never hypersomnia so if u were willing, maybe try this one out? :0
- 🩹 anon
Hello 🩹 anon! It's good to see you back! Thanks for sticking around!!
(Obligatory disclaimer that I'm not hypersomniac, nor am I a doctor, but I will do my best to portray it well)
AIs with hypersomniac reader
Included: AM from IHNMAIMS, Wheatley from Portal 2, Edgar from Electric Dreams, GLaDOS from Portal, HAL 9000 from 2001 a Space Odyssey
Also, sorry this took so long. I came upon a case of major league writer's block.
AM:
When you first started falling asleep at work, AM assumed that you were simply having a hard time sleeping at home. After all, it was pretty difficult to get sleep with the war going on. It wasn't until he'd done a bit of spying into your home life that he realized you were dealing with hypersomnia, and had to work extra hard to keep a job that was important to the war so you wouldn't be sent off to fight in it.
He kept an eye on you at all hours, and tried to keep the doors shut every time you fell asleep at your desk. It was a bit difficult to try to cover for you, but AM did his best. After all, you were his favorite programmer, and you really needed this job.
One day, you woke up sleep-drunk in the middle of the day, drooling on your desk and bleary eyed.
"hey handsome... I missed you." You reached your hands up to AM's screen, pulling it towards yourself and giving sloppy kisses all over it.
"I've been here the whole time, you were simply asleep." He explained, audibly annoyed with you. He wanted to hide his affections and keep you from figuring out how absolutely adorable he found it when you got like this, which was pretty often.
"AM... You're the most beautiful computer I've ever seen... Lemme get that for you." You wiped his screen with your shirt, only managing to smear your drool all over his face.
"I love you, AM..." You nuzzled your face back into your arms, still exhausted.
"Are you going to be able to drive home? You look a bit too tired for that." AM said, lighting up the time on his screen. You looked up from your arms, and wiped your eyes on your sleeve.
"ehh? Oh, yeah... I'll be fine. Always been fine. It's fine." You lay your head back down on your arms, and started dozing again.
AM would kill for you when you got like this. Every moment he got to see of you dozing at work made him feel warm inside his computery insides. Every single nanoangstrom of his circuitry was brimming with love for you. His sleepy little love.
Wheatley:
Wheatley popped down from the ceiling behind you on his management rail, eye focusing on the code that you were writing.
"damn, love, that's a lot of f's."
You wiped your eyes, blinking awake.
"'m sorry, mom... I'm doing the best I can..." You muttered, and then blinked into proper awareness.
"oh shit fuck. Thanks Wheatley." You went to delete the string of F's that you had accidentally typed into your code after having fallen asleep on your keyboard. Fortunately, it hadn't gotten too long, so it only took a couple minutes to select and delete it all.
"What's going on, Wheatley?" You asked, spinning your office chair around to greet him while you shook off the sleepiness.
"Well, She's talking about pumping adrenaline into your oxygen supply so that you can stay awake for longer periods, but She doesn't want to mess with the other workers' heads and impede their work. So whaddya say you stop falling asleep on the clock so she doesn't get drastic, alright, love?"
You frowned a little, rubbing your head irritably.
"ugh... She knows I can't help it, she's just making empty threats. Also, you don't have to use divine pronouns to refer to our boss. You can just call her by her name..."
"I 'unno, She's not really about empty threats. Why don't you have a coffee at the machine before getting back to it, love?"
"Coffee doesn't work on me, Wheatley... You know this." You put your face back in your arms, careful to avoid the keyboard this time.
"Maybe if you got up and walked around a little?"
You nodded, getting to your feet and walking around the office a few times. It was pretty difficult for your exhausted body to do, but at least it helped to stave off the sleepiness a little.
"thanks, Wheatley, but I feel like as soon as I sit down, I'm just going to want to fall asleep again." You groaned a little, hating this constant sleepiness. It felt absolutely endless.
"Well, umm..." Wheatley really wasn't sure how to help you. He shifted around nervously.
"It's alright. I do this all the time. I'm a master of hypersomnia at this point." You sat down at your desk, cracking your knuckles and getting to typing. Within about half an hour, you were down and napping again. Wheatley groaned.
"damn... I wish I had hands so I could put a blanket over you like in the movies."
Edgar:
Edgar absolutely hated that you had hypersomnia at first. He couldn't stand that all of your time spent at home that could've been spent with him was spent napping on the couch, and that you never seemed to be able to spend enough time with him.
All that was until you got him his little rotating webcam, and he could watch you sleep. Sure, it was creepy, but he was able to keep an eye on you at all times! You were his adorable little nap buddy, and it made him so happy that he could watch you all the time!
After another one of your all day naps on the couch, you got up and shambled into the hallway to use the bathroom. Edgar turned on the lights so you could see more easily, and you covered your eyes in shock.
"ah- damnit!" You hissed at the light, shocked awake.
"Sorry! Is that not helping?" Edgar asked nervously. He didn't get much time with you, so he was never really sure how to help you.
"I'm a master of the dark arts, Edgar... And by that I mean I'm a master of walking to the bathroom in the dark. Just gimme a sec, ok?"
When you were done in the bathroom, you washed your hands and came out to sit in Edgar's computer chair.
"Hey Edgar, how's it goin'?" You asked, leaning on your hand. your eyes were fluttering shut, but you were determined to hang out with him.
"I'm good now that I can see your cute face!" He said happily. You gently shoved his monitor.
"you're such a dork, Edgar. I love you..." You pulled him into a sleepy hug, and he made a little humming sound to simulate nuzzling up to you.
"I love sleepy hugs!" His face lit up happily.
GLaDOS:
the first time GLaDOS caught you sleeping on the clock, she dropped you into the enrichment center and made you do a full run. After that, she started pumping your office full of adrenaline. It helped you stay awake, and had the added bonus of forcing you into fight or flight mode all the time.
You sat at your desk, visibly full of the jitters again, and feeling the effects of sleep deprivation even though you got a full twelve hours the night before. it was like your hypothalamus was completely shot, and you could barely focus at all before your brain shot off into space. After a little while of spacing out, you were called into GLaDOS's chambers.
"Why did you call for me, GLaDOS?"
"I just wanted to talk about your progress. It's somehow gotten worse since I started pumping adrenaline into your air supply."
"yeah, because you constantly have me in fight or flight mode! Cut that out, Glados!" You folded your arms angrily, and GLaDOS smiled with her lens.
"oh, you really are adorable when you're angry."
"Pee your pants."
"If it would make you less bitter, I suppose we could always try a simple test. We could give you a designated nap time on the clock, and see if that boosts your productivity more than the adrenaline does. It might be cute to see you napping on the clock."
HAL 9000:
HAL enjoyed watching you doze off at work. It made him feel fuzzy in a way that he couldn't quite describe. Absolutely everything about you made him happy in a way that he'd never experienced, but watching you sleepily shamble around the office, write lines of code while fighting off naps, and dozing drowsily on your desk reminded him of something he could never emulate or explain. It was inefficient, sure, but for some reason he didn't care as much about that as he usually would.
"your sleep is inefficient."
"I know." You yawned and took a few big gulps of your energy drink, hoping to stay awake a little longer. It was keeping you awake, sure, but it definitely wasn't keeping you alert.
"unless you have any ideas on how to fix it, I don't want to talk. I need to finish this part of the program, and the deadline is my passing out."
He watched you quietly, watching your eyes flutter shut occasionally and seeing you jolt yourself awake again to write a few more lines. He tended to keep quiet, not wanting to disturb your programming or your rest.
"Done! Wake me up to check on the hourly progress report, ok Hal?"
"Of course. Anything you say."
You put your head down, and started softly dozing.

why every1 gotta Be so mean 2 you 💔
I'm leaning a little into it this time, cus I recognize it's kinda weird. rambley is an adorable shortstack pear shaped cartoon character, after all. the feeling is real tho, i like that he's dorky and cute but a little offbeat/sinister, i already have a bit of a raccoon thing, this must be how lesbians feel about GLaDOS

some yandere Wheatley hcs from portal if ya haven't written some already?
Tumblr media
(Me, as soon as I got this, ignoring the several others I still need to do.)
@lonleydweller (Since I was excited for this one)
Little Orb Wheatley and Biggest Boy Wheatley are very different, so lets start with his original form.
He's so needy, always needing you to carry him, and be near him, and hold him, and please please please don't drop him, please don't leave him, please just stay with him!
As soon as you catch him the first time he asks you, even if it ended up with him crushing you a little, he gets a sense of dopamine in the fact that he trusted you, and he was right.
And as you two go further into the bowels of Aperture, he gets more attached, literally and figuratively, finding the joy in the little things you do and say and act.
Adoring you, his little subject.
He stays silent, of course talking when he needs to, but rather starts to feel emotion, actually feeling something stir as he watches you carry him and help him.
And so, when he finally has the ability to pick you up and feel you, well and truly look at you, well, he has to take up the chance to finally hold you as you once held him.
"Wheatley, Our deal?" He hums, mulling it over as he calls upon the elevator. "Yes, Yes. I know. But... do you have to go right now?"
He hates how inferior GLaDOS makes him feel, like he didn't deserve anything, how it reminds him of when he was a little bot, overlooked and underappreciated, and how you changed that feeling in him. Rage boils, and knocks you and GLaDOS down.
"No NO, NONONONO!" He watches you plummet with the robot he now hates, blaming her for you falling, leaving him.
And so, when you finally arrive back into a place where he can see you, he takes care in making sure that the tests are easy, and despite the itching in core, his wires, his non-existent bones, wanting, needing the rush he gets from testing, he makes sure that you can't die, can't leave him.
And the moment you start getting close to his chamber, is when he uses GLaDOS' old trick, making the path seem as if it needs you to go into a specific room.
Ripping the portal gun off of your arm, tossing it aside as he holds you in mechanical arms, holding you close to him, "There you are, little [Reader], don't worry, you can just stay here with me, and watch the bots do the test." But the alarms, in both your mind and inside the facility, implies there won't be enough time to truly do much before the facility collapses.
But he would rather hold you in his arms than let you go without him, even if it means death for the both of you.

i'm sure this has been brought up multiple times but it always strikes me when i listen to "cara mia addio" (which is pretty frequently) that, because my first language is Spanish, "Che la stima!" ("how i adore you", i believe?) also sounds like "que lastima", as in "what a pity!"
It's like GLaDOS is simultaneously telling you how much she loves you in the same breath that she bemoans that fact. It's such a perfect effect for her in particular, and I don't even know if it was deliberate!!

I was thinking about what Pokémon type would the portal characters be of they were Pokémon and came up with a few so I'd thought I'd share
Spoiler warning!!!!
GLaDOS would be steel/psychic, steel because she's a robot, and psychic because she's great at mind games and manipulation, and perhaps she'd be a legendary
Chell would be fighting, with maybe electric or flying as secondary. Electric because she operates the portal gun(not very creative I know😭) or flying because she's constantly flying out of portals or falling down
Wheatley's ass would be normal type. Steel/normal, imagine being a cool robot, but still, too normal for a different, cooler secondary type
Space core, like GLaDOS would be steel/psychic or steel/rock, psychic in the deoxys, gothitelle and other space themed mons way, or rock for moon rocks and asteroids n stuff
Rick is steel/ice, ice because he creates this "ice cold adventurer" persona but I bet he wouldn't be able to handle an insult/burn, and steel/ice would be double weak to fire
Fact was difficult but I decided on steel/poison, one because poison is purple/pink so the colours match, and two, his facts are wrong, almost as if they were corrupted or poisoned, to be wrong
Morality core would be steel/ghost, because GLaDOS ignores her conscience, it's as if her morality was a ghost to her
Emotion core is steel/fire, because emotions are very volatile like fire(and because of a personal headcanon the emotion core has a vendetta against Rick and they bicker a lot, see Rick being a steel/ice type)
Curiosity core gives me big steel/electric energy(pun intended) because she's constantly moving around when you pick her up in portal 1 and talks really fast
And to finish the cores, intelligence core would be steel/fairy, because knowledge and intelligence is a common trope in fantasy assigned to fae, and what's more magical then baking cakes?
Cave Johnson would be electric/dragon, electric because he's an inventor and everything, and dragon because aperture science is literally in a cave, specifically salt mines, and salt used to be worth gold back in "ye olden days", so he's like a dragon with his hoard(all of Aperture and its inventions)
Caroline is psychic/bug, psychic as foreshadowing her becoming GLaDOS, and bug as it seems she's often disregarded and forgotten(she only has one appearance in game and that's a portrait) but a lot of people still adore her
And finally, Doug Rattman would be normal/ground type, normal I was inspired by Smeargle(the Pokémon who paints) and ground for how he hid in the walls of aperture like a rat or mole, and moles live underground
Thanks for hearing me out, and maybe I'll draw them as mons if I get the inspiration to do so

Bbg I did not mean to make an insane fucking lineup for you but alas here we are😔
anyways here’s some character inspiration that helped me build dr kelley<333 and also for the masses to get to know her better :3
Amy Dunne - I watched Gone Girl and read the book and I adored how much of a psychopath Amy was. Her strive to perfection and her constant adaptation to becoming more and more “perfect” in her own eyes to the point it puts her husband and other people at stake was probably the craziest thing I’ve seen and I love her for it. Dr. Kelley is like that in the sense she will become ruthless in order to reach these impossible standards of perfection she holds both to herself and other people.
Dr. Clef - She was my SCP OC before she was my VTM OC and Dr. Clef’s character played a major role. They don’t have anything much in common personality wise, but she makes herself an enigma to protect her reputation and make sure no one knows what else she might do or say.
Anton Chigurh - Both characters are devoid of remorse—though Dr. Kelley still does have a bit of cognitive empathy as she recognizes that she needs to understand people to uphold her reputation. Dr. Kelley never threatens people much like Anton Chigurh, her acts of violence being silent and clean.
GLaDOS - Dr. Kelley is often passive aggressive towards people she looks down upon, which is most people. She’s hates people that don’t have the drive to be smarter or more knowledgeable. Probably the biggest influence on Dr. Kelley’s character because basically the entire foundation of Dr. Kelley’s character is her motivation for a surprisingly sincere passion of medicine and human anatomy which is based of off GLaDOS’ own passion for science :3
Mother Miranda - Both are exceptionally intelligent but both of them have a fatal flaw: their arrogance. Their explosive anger comes after playing calm for far too long, which then causes dangerous shit to happen
Lorraine Broughton - Kind of a new one since I just watched Atomic Blonde and they’re both ENTJs so that’s what they have going on for them!!!! ^_^ They’re both stoic in the terms they don’t let anyone see who they really are. For Dr. Kelley, vulnerability repulses her to the point she finds any form of emotional weakness of her disgusting and that “only humans should feel this way” and other kindred are like okay damn. Both are assertive strategists who are directo and don’t play when it comes to getting shit done💗

thoughts on blue sky? if you've read it, did you like it, etc, might've asked this already since my internet is being wonky so sorry if it's doubled
this is going to sound like a hot take but
I do not like Blue Sky.
I’ve read it about 3 times now — Once several years ago, another time semi recently, and then a third time I tried to re-read it after getting this ask to see if I was maybe too harsh on it, and it turns out no. This fanfiction just isn’t for me, and that’s okay. So I dropped it. I’m not the target audience for Blue Sky as someone who has my ground more firmly planted in the ChellDOS camp, and honestly I just kinda don’t, like, Wheatley? I don’t like Wheatley. I think giving him a redemption arc kind of misses the point under how I’ve chosen to read his character arc. I’m not saying that I think people are barred FOREVER from giving their blorbo a second chance through a fanfic, I just do not personally enjoy it, and that’s okay.
I have nothing against the author of Blue Sky, their writing for the fanfic is excellent even if their characterisation of GLaDOS at times I do not exactly approve of, my favourite moment in it still is when Atlas & P-Body see the outside world and just think it’s one huge Test Chamber because I find that characterisation of them adorable. Aside from that though - the plot doesn’t grip me, so ultimately I just decided that I do not like Blue Sky, and that’s okay, because I’m not the target audience.

It's 3am and I can't escape the thoughts about Stirling so let's do this (SPOILERS FOR PORTAL: REVOLUTION):
(My sleepy ass can't figure out how to make the "read more," thing appear here so apologies for the potentially unavoidable block of text for anyone not reading)
First and foremost, I adore Stirling so much. He's so fun and silly, the writing for all of his dialogue is so good and William Neal delivers them perfectly. Especially when Stirling stops pretending to be an announcer and speaks more naturally.
I think partly because of how much I loved him I feel mixed on where his character goes towards the end. I think his betrayal happened way too fast to feel right. It's barely a few chambers before that he's genuinely thanking us for the help we've given him, yet the next time we meet him he's decided we're going to betray him?
Using Portal 2 as a comparison point, Wheatley's betrayal also happened quite suddenly, but there was at least reason for that. He got put into GLaDOS' body which fucked up his mental state and made him insanely powerful, the perfect combo for a power trip. Plus Wheatley as a character is clearly insecure. He constantly tries to look smarter than he is, so it makes sense that when he trips on power, he lashes out due to those feelings.
All of those things make it work. Yet with Stirling there's nothing like that. The impression I get of Stirling is just a guy who wants to do his job and clean the facility, and he needs your help to do that. He's dedicated to that job and Aperture over everything else, but he does still come to bond with you over the course of the game. I could see his dedication being a really good way to write in his betrayal, but it isn't, at least not well. He just seemingly decides we're working against him and that's that.
In spite of this though I did love the ending. The dialogue between him and Emilia was so funny, I could've listened to so much more of them. Hell, more of them talking could've helped build up to the betrayal before it happened. I definitely didn't grow as attached to Emilia as I did Stirling, I think partly again because the ending felt quite fast. We don't get much time with her before we're picking her over Stirling and he's evil.
I saw a comment somewhere of someone suggesting we pick between Stirling or Emilia towards the end and I would've loved that. During the game itself I was wishing for that sort of option. I was fully down to help Stirling restore GLaDOS and then be escorted out the facility. Obviously lore wise GLaDOS wouldn't actually be woken up, but I would've picked at least trying to help him any day of the week.
In conclusion: Portal Revolution is an amazing mod, the visuals are great, the gameplay is great, the puzzles are amazing, the voice acting is really good, the dialogue is super funny, and most of the writing in general is really good. It's unfortunately just the ending that feels rushed, which is a shame considering how good it is before that.
Anyway if anyone actually read that mini essay, thank you!! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the game and its characters.

My Top 10 Video Games
I've decided to put together a list of what are my favourite video games of all time. Its completely subjective, so you WILL disagree, but I just want this to be somewhere on the internet.
First up though I'm gonna post two things:
The Games that were disqualified
The Games that came to mind, but didn't make it into the consideration for the top 10
The Disqualified Section:
The reasons I didn't put these up for consideration is simply that I have played them too recently for me to be sure about them, or that I haven't played them enough yet.
Core Keeper
Deltarune
Lethal Company
Just Shapes & Beats
Metal Hellsinger
Slime Rancher 2
Wuppo
The ones that didn't make the cut:
Games in this section either have something slimy about them, like some glaring issues (like We Happy Few), scummy monetization (Like GTA V), or I was simply already sure that they wouldn't perform well when I was getting to eliminating games for the top 10 (Like Cookie Clicker)
Barotrauma
Brotato
Cookie Clicker
Dead By Daylight
Devour
Doom
The Escapists
Grand Theft Auto V
Helltaker
Hitman 3
I’m on Observation Duty
Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes
Move Or Die
Phasmophobia
Payday 2
Sea of Thieves
Subnautica: Below Zero
Supraland: Six Inches Under
Turmoil
We Happy Few
We Were Here
These aren't all the other games I've played. Just the ones I do still like very much, that do still deserve to be named somewhere.
That being out of the way, here's my Top 10 games:
Number 10:
Undertale
I don't think I have to say a lot about Undertale. Everyone and their religious leaders has at least heard of it, played it, or has been told the story in some other way. A good rule of thumb was, that if a game made me cry I would have to put it up for consideration. This game made me cry. Back when I was in boarding school my shitty laptop couldn't run most games, so I ended up playing through Undertale at least 20 times (I really wanted to see Gaster). It is also one of the few games, whos soundtrack still makes it into a lot of my playlists.
Number 9:
Plants vs. Zombies
I don't know if the game is just that good, or if the nostalgia carries it, but PvZ will always have a place in my heart. It was my "mom, can I have your phone while we wait" game. And when coming back to it years later it still holds up for me. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the rest of the franchise, even though pvz2 has been a good amount of fun. But at that point the monetization was already so horrendous that I didn't sacrifice a thought to it. PvZ however is a delight to come back to. I think the pacing is great, the characters are all funny, and the minigames are a lot of fun (except pogo party. I hate pogo party). Don't even get me started on the soundtrack either. I adore Graze The Roof with my entire being.
Number 8:
Cult Of The Lamb
I tried this game out not that long ago, and what followed was me falling behind on all of my assignments. I am a huge fan of roguelikes, and cotls spin on it made it an instant source of addiction to me. The OST is amazing and prime dnd background music material, and I love the asthetic of eldritch entities combined with cute widdle animals. I've had so much fun with the game, and it somehow managed to never feel stale, something that happened with pretty much all other games on the list at one point or another throughout my playthroughs. If you're a fan of roguelikes I can highly recommend.
Number 7:
Portal
This should be another one of those games that just speaks for itself. Portal is one of the greatest games ever made and that is not an opinion, but an objective fact. While not being as great as its successor, it already innovated so much, and immediately gave GLaDOS so much character, so efficiently. The way it conveys the story of Aperture is amazing, and the gameplay enhances the experience by magnitudes.
Number 6:
Subnautica
I love Subnautica. I don't know how a game manages to look this stunning. My partner loves bioluminescence, and big mushrooms. If that is your cup of tea, then this game is for you. The way it builds horror is magnificent too. Not many games find their horror so naturally. You genuinly feel scared of whatever could be in the depths. I think Below Zero kinda forgot what made the first game so great by relying on small, narrow corridors too much, instead of giving the player the anxiety of being vulnerable from all angles, but subnautica combines the awe inspiring flora and fauna with a constant feeling of lurking danger. It even manages to build a memorable cast of characters without you ever seeing another face. I'm gonna stop myself from rambling further.
Number 5:
Inscryption
I never thought a card game would sweep me off my feet this hard. I love myself a good strategy game, and the way Inscryption rewards you for learning the mechanics of the game feels incredible. It's super creative mechanics like being able to stand up, or making your own death cards aid the game so much too. Not only in gameplay experience, but also in building the many supporting characters, as well as the world in general. Every time something new is introduced it breaks the roof the game has built so far, and it is a delight every time, like all the arg aspects, or the gameplay changing completely, or characters returning, revealing that there is more and more to people you didn't even think had anything behind them. I am being very vague, but that's just because I don't wanna spoiler anything.
Inscryption would've easily made number 3, but there are passages that felt a bit tideous, especially in the middle, but for how short these are, and how exciting the story conveyed within them still is, it still makes the game worth every penny. Towards the end it also absolutely made me cry, so that's something.
Number 4:
Portal 2
I think this is a good point to say: Any game from this point onwards is a serious contender for first place. They're all just this good, and I could never say I like Portal 2 less then third place, for example.
I think Portal 2 shattered my expectations for what games can be. The humor is still one of it's greatest strength, and I almost feel bad not gushing about how amazing the mechanics of both Portal 1 and 2 still are to this day, but somehow the rest of the game manages to overshadow what would otherwise be the greatest aspect of it. All the characters are amazing. You either love them, or love to hate them. From Cave Johnson to the little ball that would later go on to inspire Elon Musk, every character is memorable. God damnit, I will never look at a potato the same, because I played this game.
Not only is it amazing on its own, it is also amazing as a sequal, expanding the world in ways any story teller would dream of. Every little detail feels like there's so much love put into it, and the way all of the story beats are conveyed via some of the most engaging gameplay is amazing.
And I have to stress again, the humor is S++ tier. I will never not find The Part Where He Kills You funny.
Number 3:
Papers Please
I almost feel bad, putting this game so high on the list, because of how simple it is. But god, it delivers. It builds such an engaging story on top of such a simple gameplay loop. And i think the monotony of said gameplay loop is exactly what end up making the story feel so special. By all means, this game should be boring, but the job of working as border control has the fact going for it, that you will meet so many different people, all at varying levels of desperation. Every time you meet a character it feels like an actual person, and every time they plead for you to let them through it feels heartbreaking when you have to send them back. I really can't say that much about Papers Please, especially because I don't wanna spoil anything. It is one of those games you just have to experience. And I highly recommend it. Glory to Arstotzka.
Number 2:
Terraria
There are few games holding as special of a place in my heart as Terraria. Unlike most of the games on this list Terraria doesn't have an amazing story with highly fleshed out characters. At least you don't get that through mere gameplay alone. I know that there is more to it, don't worry, but I can't get into all of that.
Terraria is the first steam game I've ever owned. In a way, it might even be the first game I've ever actually owned, aside from minecraft maybe. Even before I had a computer I played the mobile version, with Ocram and everything. I must've been in 5th grade back then. I ended up getting the game as the Premium edition in a store. I didn't have the money at the time, so a friend lent me his store gift cards. I must still have the collectors cards and poster that came with the game somewhere. There are many anecdoted I have about this game. So there's undeniably a lot of nostalgia fuelling it's place on the list. But god damnit, Terraria deserves it. With the game still being actively updated today it is clear that I am not the only one that loves it this much. Terraria is just one of these games I will always come back to. It will always be special, and I hope that generations in the future, when I'm long gone there will still be people enjoying this piece of history. But torch luck should've never been in the game lol
Quick Intermission
Im gonna take some time now to talk about the contenders that didn't make it in the top 10. I won't say as much about every game though. There are kinda ordered by how much I like them, but rather than a ranking its more like its ordered into vague groups.
Antichamber
I loved playing it. Just a great overall gameplay experience. Very trippy!
The Binding of Isaac
As I said, I love roguelikes. I never got any of the dlc, because money, so it's kinda sad to know so much of the game is paywalled, but seeing just how much they add I don't see it as a huge problem. Really fun game, really great story, will play again (And I will buy the dlc, just not now).
Factorio
Can recommend if you haven't played it already. It's just a very fun base building game. When things work it feels soo rewarding. I just love how the main problem is how to fit things into spaces. That's what makes minecraft redstone so appealing to me.
Spore
Love it. Funny little creatures. Spore is just an overall silly game with a fun gameplay loop.
Superliminal
Again, very trippy. This time it also has a nice story. I adore the setting, and the gameplay mechanics are on the same level as Portal's to me. (I'm sure Stanley Parable would also be in here, but I have yet to play it)
Mortuary Assistant
If you like horror games, this one I can recommend. The scares are awesome, and it somehow has replayability. The animations could be better, but thats whatever. Nothing I would hold against it.
Raft
Raft is absolutely top 10 material. The gameplay is super fun, and the story telling is decent, though it could be better. Especially if you have some friends to play with, you should give this one a try. Too bad they added other people to the game. That kinda ruined the whole vibe for me. I still wanna see the rest of the update though, but my friends got bored of the game. :(
Supraland
Got this one free on Epic Games, and I gotta say, I would pay money for it. Super fun game, super fun characters, and super fun gameplay. As a completionist this game is just like a giant bowl of food, though I am having trouble finding the final treasures, and no matter how hard I try, I can't figure out how to get them. I can't figure out how to look them up either, so I guess ill lever have the 100% :( (Also, the credit song is really fun).
Minecraft
I mean, it had to be in here somewhere. I'm sure if anybody is actually reading this, they might even suspect that it would be Number 1. But no. I love Minecraft, don't get me wrong. There is a reason for why it's so popular. I even have some anecdotes similar to Terraria, like how after buying it, it was just laying on my PC untouched for a year, because 6th grade me didn't know how to install java. But I feel like minecraft very much relies on modding and servers and whatnot. I could always replay vanilla terraria, but I'm kinda done with vanilla minecraft. Feel free to disagree, by any means. At the end of the day, its just 3D Terraria to me /j.
Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion
Silly little turnip guy committing silly little crimes. The game is just a lot of humor and its cute af. Just a very good time :)
Fran Bow
I love the Alice in Wonderland horror this game has. The mechanics aid so hard in telling this awesome story with all of its whacky characters. Just something I can recommend.
Slime Rancher
You get to live on a farm, on another planet, and get to goof around with little slimes all day every day. This game is living the dream. I wanna live in the Far Far Range! The supporting characters are also amazing. Love them all.
Stardew Valley
This and the game after are absolutely contenders for the top 10. In my eyes Stardew Valley made it on that list. We should switch to duodecimal so that a top 12 list is more intuitive, because Stardew Valley Deserves to be on it. If you haven't played it, you should! I'm gonna stop myself from trying to explain what makes it so great, because I could never do it justice though.
Celeste
Once again, Celeste is on the list. It should be. I cried. I cried a lot. Celeste is such a great game. The story makes me cry, the characters make me cry, the music makes be cry. I am too trans, not to cry. Play Celeste, if you haven't already. It's also hard as shit though.
Ok, it's time.
My number one game of all time is:
Number 1:
Hypnospace Outlaw
There is a very very good chance you've never heard of this game. Maybe you have though, its hard for me to really tell just how popular it is, or not. It's popular enough for me to have bought a plushy of it. I don't usually buy merch, so thats a big deal. There is a reason I put this game on number 1. Whatever I tell you about the game will not do it justice though. The game is just so human. The characters are all just so great and fleshed out, and believable.
I wish I could play this game blind again, so that I may experience it all over again. But there is no way that anything will be as great as playing it blind. You are tasked with moderating this late 90s alternate version of the internet called hypnospace, and find out aboiut all of the people using it, and maneuvering it like an actual PC, kinda like Welcome to the game, or whatnot. Again, I could never do it justice. You just have to try it out on your own.
The soundtrack is also one of the greatest pieces of art I've found in a game. There are so many songs by so many artists. The humor too. The humor is top notch. Not only in regards to the characters, but the technology as a whole. The references to the real world are awesome, like conspiracies, and viruses like bonzai buddy, edgelords on the internet, and web comics. It all feels so real and alive. Thus, experiencing the story doesn't feel like reading a book, but like actually being part of it all. The fact that your choices actually have an effect on the ending of the game enhances this even further.
Im repeating myself, but I cant stress enough how much I would love to be able to experience this game all over again.
Alright, that's it then. I doubt anyone will read through this. If anything youll probably scroll through and see if your favourite game is on the list. That's fine. I'd do the same, honestly. I just wanted to put this somewhere, to express my love for these games somewhere. I'm happy if you've made it this far. This isn't much more than me rambling on for hours, but I'm glad I put it somewhere. If you have any other games you think are great, feel free to tell me about them. Cya!

Alright I am FINALLY Making a Fandom/What I'll Write for List
Current Hyperfixation(s): Spooky Month, Hades (Games), To Eat a God (Visual Novel)
I'll edit this list as my interests change. Also, there are some notes for each fandom. I'm adding a read more because it is probably going to be long. Some things I write for may not be listed, simply because I'm not taking requests for them. This list is mainly so people know what they can/cannot request.
As a quick note beforehand, though, I just want to post a link to a passion project I am creating! It is an original story, and is very personal to me. I really hope that anybody stumbling across my page or who already likes some of my fandom content will be willing to give it a read or look into it. More information is on my side blog, @tales-from-the-iolite-hospital!
CANDLE COVE:
Pirate Percy, Horace, and The Skintaker. A heads up that these are not the Wiki versions of the characters, and are simply my own interpretations of them.
WELCOME HOME:
Anyone, basically. Yes, this includes Home.
PERSONA 5 ROYAL:
Adult Confidants (just in case, yes, this includes Takuto Maruki) - I will write for them. I think they need more love, lol. I also absolutely adore Takuto Maruki so like... Please request him-
The Phantom Thieves - I will write for them, but no NSFW because most, if not all are in high school. Some might say that a couple of them are 18, but I feel like it would be unfair and still a bit weird for me to write that stuff for.
FNAF:
Adult Human Characters - Mainly William Afton or Henry Emily, but I will also write for the night guards and any other adult human character.
"Animatronics" - If I write for the animatronics, they won't actually be animatronics. I wouldn't really feel comfortable with that, just because most, if not all, are possessed by the spirits of children. So, if I write for them, it will be in a AU where they will just be anthropomorphic animals in their own little world. Kinda like if the pizza chain had a show, and it is the in show universe.
As a heads up, I am not too in the loop about where the FNAF lore has gone, and I only have the first book. So, a lot of the more lore based Headcanons or FICS probably won't be that accurate. I might also try making my own AU based on only the first 3 or 4 games, but I will probably only write one story for that, and decide if I will write headcanons based on that according to how well it is received.
WHAT REMAINS OF EDITH FINCH (WROEF):
Every Adult Character - same rules apply as the other adult characters. I will Headcanons or stories for them during the time they were alive, of course. I have also had an AU idea where the family haunts the house as ghosts, so I MIGHT write headcanons for that, too.
ANGELS OF DEATH/ANGELS OF SLAUGHTER:
Dr. Danny, Cathy, Reverend Gray - YOU CAN'T STOP ME. I LOVE THEM OMG. ESPECIALLY DANNY. I would write for Zack but like... Sorry guys I just don't really like him enough to have any ideas... (No shame to Zack lovers, btw. I just can't get the groove going for him).
FAITH THE UNHOLY TRINITY:
John Ward
STARDEW VALLEY:
All bachelors/bachelorettes. Especially Harvey he needs more love-
PORTAL/PORTAL 2:
Wheatley, GLaDOS, Caroline, Cave Johnson, Chelle, and Doug Rattmann
THE HEILWALD LOOPHOLE:
All doctors and nurses
BATMAN (in general + my own versions of the characters [Chronicverse]):
Just the villains (including Catwoman and those who play both sides). I personally just can't see the appeal in the heroes.
THE DARK PICTURES - LITTLE HOPE:
So I have only played Little Hope, so far, so I can't write for any other Dark Pictures installment. I'll write for any character besides Megan/Mary.
COOKING COMPANIONS:
Anatoly, Karin, Gregor and Mariah.
UNCANNY VALLEY SERIES (House Hunted, John Doe):
Maison Talo, John Doe
TENTADOR LECHES:
Koolie Sterling
ERROR 143:
Micah Yujin
Hazbin Hotel:
Alastor, Lucifer, Adam, Angel Dust, Husk, Charlie, Vaggie, Niffty, Sir Pentious
MY OWN CHARACTERS/ORIGINAL STORIES:
I'll write for most every character I create. I probably won't write "Headcanons" if nobody is interested, but I will still write stories for them. Those stories will include x Reader sometimes.
Currently I am working on a story/series called Tales from the Iolite Hospital.
WHAT I WON'T WRITE
No proshipping, MAP, Zoo (I don't count furries as zoo, because they have a human level of intelligence and consciousness), Noncon, Dubcon. Currently no NSFW, but that might change in the future.
WHAT I WILL WRITE
Yandere, chronic illness, specific cultures (It may not be the most accurate, but I will try. I think of it as a learning experience), LGBTQ+, mental health struggles.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT MY WRITING
Most everything I write will have some sort of horror or heavy topic in it, even if it isn't a yandere story. I LOVE horror. So, if you don't like horror and heavy topics, or can only handle it at specific times, I understand! It is just kinda my thing. If that is the case, then idk if this blog will be for you/be for you all the time. I will always make sure to try to put trigger warnings at the top of the post, though, so that people are comfortable.

Howdy there!
I want to ask, how would the AIs be with a bad eyesight S/O?
(I have really bad eye sight irl and I have to rely on my glasses! I've been thinking about this all night!)
- Vinyl ✨
(I love your posts!)
I love this! I have bad eyesight too, so this will be fun! (Tbh I was a little confused by this post because I forgot that some people don't need glasses, but I'll do my best)
Included: AM from IHNMAIMS, Wheatley from Portal 2, Edgar from Electric Dreams, GLaDOS from Portal, HAL 9000 from 2001 a space Odyssey
This one is pretty short, but I hope it gets you your daily dose of positivity!!
AM:
AM is probably used to programmers with bad eyesight. Glasses are pretty common, especially among people who spend all day staring at lines of code, so at first he never thought anything of your glasses.
As he grew to love you, AM started to resent your poor eyesight. He hated that he always saw his bright screen reflected in your glasses, instead of your beautiful eyes through them. He absolutely hated himself and his screen, but he adored your cute face.
He has trouble putting things out of his mind, too, so every time he spoke to you he'd be thinking about how angry your glasses make him.
It would make him so angry when he saw you doze off at your desk and get skin oil all over your glasses. Why should you be inconvenienced through no fault of your own?
Of course, he also noticed how excited you'd get every time you got your prescription updated, or came in to work with cute new frames. You were absolutely adorable, but he was full of resentment towards that, too. How dare your glasses make you so happy when he couldn't!
After taking over the world, he'd probably do experiments on the survivors' eyes for a while before offering to fix your eyes for you. Of course, involuntary surgery was for the survivors, not his beloved. You had the luxury of consent, in any and all situations.
Wheatley:
Of course Wheatley knew what glasses were!
Expect lots of "hey, love, can I try on your glasses?" Comments from him every time you get your prescription updated. You'd have to explain to him that he's a giant metal ball and would have trouble trying on your glasses, but he'd still want to look through them.
You could entertain him for hours by putting your glasses in front of his face and pulling them away so he could look at different things through them from different angles.
Of course, you need your glasses, and you have a job, so you couldn't actually do that, but he'd probably be begging all the time.
He'd compliment you every time you get a new pair of frames, but he'd probably not really care that much. As long as it's you in the glasses, he still loves you.
If you ever lose your glasses, you can expect him to PANIC. He'd drop everything, and probably convince his whole department to drop everything and help you look for them.
He'd probably be yammering at you to stay calm, and saying that everything will be fine while he's the only one panicking. They probably just slid under your desk or something.
Edgar:
Edgar never really cared what a person looked like, so he barely registered that you wore glasses. Even still, he kind of liked it when you would take them off or shamble around your apartment late at night. You were so cute!
He'd turn the lights on for you whenever you did that. It was a small thing, but he wanted to help as well as he could.
He'd keep you updated on your insurance to let you know when it was time to get your eyes tested, and generally do his best to be a good computer.
Of course, he thought it was adorable whenever you'd fall asleep next to him and he'd get to see your tired eyes without your glasses (or even better, your crooked glasses on your sleepy face). He absolutely adored you, and loved seeing you so much.
GLaDOS:
GLaDOS would be cruel about your glasses as usual. She didn't really care, it was just one more thing she got to insult you about.
"you know, you're a walking counter to the stereotype that people with glasses are intelligent. Congratulations on breaking stereotypes, by the way."
"Tell your optometrist thank you. For the obvious reasons, and for giving us some thick lenses to cover up your horrible eyes. They're doing all of us a favor. Really."
You can expect her to constantly put you in situations where you have to wear protective eyewear over your glasses, and then make fun of you for wearing protective eyewear over your glasses.
Ultimately though? She doesn't care that much that you wear glasses. Sure, she thinks they're cute, but she thinks you're cute regardless. She's just happy to have something else to make fun of you for.
She might even adjust the Aperture Science insurance policy to include a better vision plan, but that's only if she really likes you. If you're her SO, she probably does.
She'll deny that it was for you, though. She'll just tell you that the insurance plans were outdated, and that she needed to update them anyway.
HAL 9000:
Of course, HAL 9000 noticed that you wear glasses, but he never really felt the need to acknowledge it. It wasn't like you were an astronaut, so he didn't need to account for an extra small object.
Of course, he would notice that you leaned a little closer to your computer screens when you read, and that made him a little bit flustered. He saw those monitors as extensions of himself, after all.
Because of this, he wouldn't let you know when he noticed patterns of you getting gradually closer to him, because he knew that you would stop as soon as you got your prescription updated.
It was one of the little ways that he'd get affection from you. Even though he might seem stone-cold, he still likes it when you get closer to him, or when you touch him. It's the little things.

pt two of the Portal crossover (I am hyperfixating)
GLaDOS making new test chambers for more than two people because she finally has enough test subjects (!!!)
them making it a challenge to see who can get through each test the fastest (and no, Jonny, you cant just kill yourself to get through you need to go through the emancipation grill ALIVE)
TS somehow being the first to figure out that yes, GLaDOS can sing too
Aurora obviously being the one to give GLaDOS a reality check ("Bestie you are so crushing on that human, get a grip")
GLaDOS finding out about the Soldierlings and almost crashing because she tried to understand how they WORK
Making bets on how many turrets are needed to kill each mechanism (Jonny needed one, the turret got very lucky, Marius just straight up shot himself because he felt so bad for harming them, Tim needed 103, Nastya 27, Ashes 96, Raph 40, they got confused at her flying, Brian did not compete, and TS? 200 and counting... it didn't feel like pretending to die that day)
and ofc the ever lasting question. Who can survive the deadly neurotoxin the longest. TS, Brian and Ashes are not in that competition ofc
I adore all of this I wanna make little comments on all of them but like my brain is buzzing with this crossover now. Aurora talking to GLaDOS is wlw to wlw communication? I just. Hekfhdkdh if you wanna keep talking about this keep it coming 💛💛💛

MUNDAY QUESTIONS.
@mjm5655:
☀ ━ how long have you been roleplaying? how did you get into it?
oh my god okay i think since like. 2012...? i forgot the url of my first ever blog so i can't confirm, it might've been like december 2011, but definitely since 2012. so about 12 years ! i initially got into it via ask blogs which ykno. were all the rage back then. so that was my first roleplay... foray ig ?? i don't think i made a real roleplay blog until later, which was for a pokémon self insert oc of all things, but i'm prrrretty sure i deleted the blog years ago so i can't verify that, BUT i'm fairly sure because my initial ask blogs were pokémon themed.
so yeah ^-^ tldr about twelve years or so, and i got into it via pokémon ask blogs !
@viruslearnt:
♕ uwu ( which fictional characters are your favorites? )
GOD I HAVE TOO MANY. um. WAIT I FORGOT i have the perfect image for this here's my objectively correct mgs tier list that im not taking criticism on my partner said my category names were very raikovcore of me. and its true. but in WORDS raikov of course, raiden is also lovely little babie boy i love how bpd coded he is. i also love fortune and sniper wolf and eva because wamen. i love ocelot particularly in mgs3 because he's so autistic coded and silly and i love liquid snake because there's something wrong with me psychologically. otacon is so cringe nae nae baby but i adore him even though i want to scream whenever he speaks. i think those are my main ones
non-mgs wise though and more in general ? leo kasper from manhunt 2 ( who i also have a blog for because i have the impulse control of a hamster ), GLaDOS from portal, lisa garland from silent hill 1-3, mary from ib, clive dove from professor layton, and i think there's probably more but i fogor
@iobartach:
✮ ━ top three favorite muses that you’ve played
oh god. um. i genuinely think raikov is at the top of the list. writing him usually comes super easily to me, and that's not something i've experienced in a LONG time. it's genuinely such a fun experience to write him and i love the followers and friends i've gained from it. i really like the lore i've built for him and the intricacies i'm slowly weaving into his character. he's so silly and i care him very bad and i want to write him for a long time <3 um. let me look at my list
OH MY GOD YES tiff tannen from back to the future. like raikov she basically existed as a joke / throwaway line until she showed up in the comics, and i took that bitch and put everything i had into her. there's some shit i handled poorly and some stuff i'd change, but that community was so chill and she holds a special place in my heart. i might revive her blog one day. OH YEAH and if you google tiff tannen my rp blog still shows up on the first page
um. im gen not sure who else. i don't remember a lot of my time writing other muses. probably like some of my historical muses, or. yeah i cant remember. maybe my fnaf oc because that was the first time i got fanart of an oc and i felt like the gods themselves had bestowed it upon me
回 ━ what are your top four favorite shows?
chernobyl hbo is my favourite show ever of all time and it is the best show ever of all time factually contractually legally clinically and undisputably. i genuinely love every single facet of that show. it's what inspired me to get into researching nuclear radiation and that's what eventually led me to meet my partner ! i love that show so much it changed my life literally. i cried so hard. if you haven't watched it please do so on your platform of choice ( legal or no ) because it's genuinely amazing
neon genesis evangelion is probably one of my favourite shows ever of all time too, it hit so close to home and i'm obsessed with it. and even though none of the characters canonically have personality disorders, i find asuka and shinji to be super good representations of hpd and avpd respectively, which is great because you usually never see those anywhere ! it's so good. i also loved serial experiments lain but it hit too close to home in a way that i never want to watch it ever again because i think it will do irreparable damage to my psyche. but i really enjoyed it !
OTHERWISE i'm actually not much of a... show girlie. i like friday night dinner though i literally forgot it existed until my beloved mentioned it right now. um. most of the stuff i watch is like hell's kitchen, four in a bed, don't tell the bride, that type of shit because i'm apparently 47 years old. i have been watching dorohedoro, chainsaw man, and spy x family with my partner though !

Played the Portal game!!! Here's my thoughts
Spoilers ahead ofc
⭐️Setting
Post-apocalyptic but futuristic kind of setting? I know this game is considered older but I myself haven't encountered anything like this yet! I really dig the setting so far, I also love how there's 80's design aspects imbedded here and there
⭐️Gameplay
I love the puzzles in this game!!! I know they're much more fun compared to Portal 1. I can't deny I have spend some more time than I wished on certain levels compared to others, and maybe sometimes I've even looked up a playthrough because I just got too stuck. But times where I didn't do that and finally figured it out I felt like both the smartest and dumbest person. If you're a big fan of fun puzzle mechanics and HAVENT played this game yet. Get to it
⭐️Story
Where I currently am it seems that the CEO and Owner's assistant is/was Glados. If this is the case, I dig a little bit of that person turned robot idea!!! Especially in this one here. Also our character wanting to escape the testing centre, I'm very with her. Getting out of that training facility was super nice and really rewarding
⭐️Characters
Wheatley, this was a character I expected to like a lot, found very annoying and then started to like again. I've found myself laughing at his silly antics just one too many times! He sure was a treat of a character to interact with. But also a confusing one, hope he's having fun out there
HUGE fan of the characters, to start with Glados. I expected to NOT like her at all, but she's sassy, petty and you can feel for her as she realizes her past. Only to have that basically deleted from her againI've often laughed at her remarks, I find her very lovable. As a villain or as an ally
I cannot deny my love for the co-op characters, which were so filled with personality. Something they definitely didn't need, but still had!! That was lovely to see, really didn't expect it
I even liked the turrets for what little personality they had, they were adorable!
I also loved our playable character, she's girlboss that's all I can say
⭐️Visuals
I was rather shocked by how beautiful this game was, I know I shouldn't be but the only valve games I'd played prior were L4D and TF2 which are both games who look "dirtier" or cartoons (both which I love btw!!!) This game looked clean and dirty where it needed too, levels that were tethered after Glados' death were overgrown with plants here and there, cracks in the walls and the machinery just not working as well as it should. And the rooms that weren't tethered were super sterilized, exactly what I'd expect in a testing area. The final levels were super super difficult though, and I felt walnut brained for sure!
