thoughts on blue sky? if you've read it, did you like it, etc, might've asked this already since my internet is being wonky so sorry if it's doubled

this is going to sound like a hot take but

I do not like Blue Sky.

I’ve read it about 3 times now — Once several years ago, another time semi recently, and then a third time I tried to re-read it after getting this ask to see if I was maybe too harsh on it, and it turns out no. This fanfiction just isn’t for me, and that’s okay. So I dropped it. I’m not the target audience for Blue Sky as someone who has my ground more firmly planted in the ChellDOS camp, and honestly I just kinda don’t, like, Wheatley? I don’t like Wheatley. I think giving him a redemption arc kind of misses the point under how I’ve chosen to read his character arc. I’m not saying that I think people are barred FOREVER from giving their blorbo a second chance through a fanfic, I just do not personally enjoy it, and that’s okay.

I have nothing against the author of Blue Sky, their writing for the fanfic is excellent even if their characterisation of GLaDOS at times I do not exactly approve of, my favourite moment in it still is when Atlas & P-Body see the outside world and just think it’s one huge Test Chamber because I find that characterisation of them adorable. Aside from that though - the plot doesn’t grip me, so ultimately I just decided that I do not like Blue Sky, and that’s okay, because I’m not the target audience.

Do we know anything about the military androids aperture was supposedly developing?

Not really no, none of the robots we see in Portal, besides Atlas and P-Body, really fit the definition of being an android. We know that the Turrets are products used by the military but they’re just robots, not androids. You could try make a case for Atlas and P-Body being those Military Androids originally since during Coop Course 6 you pass through a whole workshop from the 1980’s filled with incomplete versions of those two, but who knows.
