Just finished donating platelets! Cancer patients, post-surgery patients, and newborns and moms, to name a few, often specifically need platelets (vs. normal blood), which help us stop and slow blood loss. But normal blood donations only give a tiny, tiny number of platelets. For these donations, I sit here for 90ish minutes and the machine takes my blood, extracts platelets, and gives me back the rest, so I’m not dehydrated like with normal blood donation. And my body is healthy enough to make new platelets, so I’ll be refreshed in no time. I just read the whole time (they can also set you up with a movie). I highly recommend it as a way to do some good!

Hey Friends,

First, I want to thank everyone who has helped me in the past and continues to support me. This past month has been very difficult. I was laid off my job two weeks ago, and I have been trying to escape enough funds to pay my bills. My second job is also slow right now. I im currently looking for a new full-time job, and I have a few important bills coming up that I really need help with. Mostly, my storage unit is due at the end of the month. And my kids' school starts soon and I have to pay as well.
