Suzume Odori, Sparrow Folk dance, Japan: There are a wide variety of folk dances in Japan. An example of a Japanese folk dance is the sparrow dance (suzume odori), a dance based upon the fluttering movements of the Eurasian tree sparrow. It was first performed and improvised by stonemasons who were constructing Sendai Castle for the daimyō Date Masamune. The emblem of the Date clan incorporates two tree sparrows. The sparrow dance is now performed yearly in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture at the Aoba festival in mid-May. School children in Miyagi prefecture learn and perform the sparrow dance, especially during the Obon Festival. Wikipedia

Colombia Day 2- The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Vice President Márquez paid a memorable visit to Colegio La Giralda, a local public school in the Las Cruces neighborhood of the town of Santa Fe. Their visit was a celebration of education, emotional well-being, and community spirit, highlighting the remarkable initiatives and the dedicated people who make Colegio La Giralda possible. ⁣
⁣They were welcomed by Serafin Ordoñez, the Head of School, who led them on a thoughtful tour of the campus. They were then taken to La Giralda’s urban garden which aims to promote a culture of peace and respect for the environment. The garden promotes sustainability, cooperative work and beautification of the school together with students, families and the community. The Duke and Duchess planted a walnut tree alongside the Vice President to mark their visit and leave behind a lasting impact on the school community. ⁣
⁣And in adorable fashion, Meghan and Harry met with kindergarten students, working on puzzles and having conversations, with Meghan showcasing her Spanish skills. (8/16/24)😍🥰🥹

Creative and Fun Holiday Homework Ideas for Kindergarten Children
Tumblr media
Introduction
Holiday time is a great opportunity for kids to relax and have fun, but it also presents a challenge for parents to keep their young ones engaged and productive. As parents, we always want to turn our children's energy into something enjoyable yet educational. If you're finding it tricky to come up with creative ways to keep your little ones busy, we have some great ideas for holiday homework that can stimulate their creativity and learning, especially for kindergarten students.
Craft a Storybook A wonderful way to encourage your child’s creativity is by having them craft their own storybook. You can provide them with stickers, color pencils, and blank sheets to create their very own narrative. They can invent a story about an animal, a special day in their life, or any exciting adventure. This activity helps develop their storytelling skills, boosts their imagination, and improves their fine motor skills as they write and illustrate their book.
Nature Treasure Hunt Nature offers endless opportunities for learning, making it the perfect setting for a holiday activity. You can organize a nature treasure hunt in a nearby park or your backyard. Ask your child to collect natural items such as leaves, stones, or twigs, and use them to make a nature collage. This activity sparks curiosity, builds an appreciation for nature, and helps them develop observational skills while having fun outdoors.
Bake and Count Baking is not only an enjoyable activity but also a great way to teach your child math and patience. You can get your child involved in baking cookies or simple pastries, where they can count the number of ingredients, help with mixing, and even count the cookies before and after baking. This hands-on experience teaches them about measurements, numbers, and the importance of following instructions, all while enjoying a tasty treat.
DIY Flashcards Turning learning into a fun, creative project can make concepts like letters, numbers, and shapes more engaging for kids. Provide colorful paper, crayons, and markers to create their own flashcards. Let them add stickers or drawings on each card to make them more personal. Not only does this activity enhance their understanding of basic concepts, but it also allows them to take ownership of their learning tools.
Holiday Journal Encouraging your child to keep a holiday journal can be a fantastic way to improve their writing and drawing skills. They can write about their daily activities or draw pictures of what they’ve done each day. This can serve as both a valuable learning tool and a lovely keepsake to look back on in the future. It also helps with the development of fine motor skills and reinforces early writing habits.
Mini Science Experiments Spark your child’s interest in science with simple and safe experiments. You can demonstrate how to grow a bean sprout in a jar or create a fizzy reaction using vinegar and baking soda. These fun experiments introduce basic scientific concepts and encourage hands-on learning while keeping your child engaged.
Shape Scavenger Hunt Learning about shapes can be made fun with a shape scavenger hunt around the house. Give your child a list of shapes and ask them to find objects that match those shapes—like a rectangular book or a circular clock. This activity not only teaches geometry but also enhances their problem-solving skills and encourages movement.
Create a Puppet Show Kids love to perform, and a DIY puppet show is a perfect way to channel that energy. You can help your child make puppets from socks, paper bags, or craft sticks. Once the puppets are ready, encourage them to write a short story and put on a puppet show for the family. This promotes creativity, builds confidence, and improves communication skills.
Color Sorting Game Simple color sorting games are great for teaching kids about colors while enhancing their cognitive skills. You can ask them to sort colorful buttons or toys into different categories. Adding a timer or turning it into a race can make it more exciting, while still reinforcing color recognition and improving focus.
Set Up a Mini Garden Gardening teaches patience and responsibility, and it’s a great activity for kids during the holidays. Help your child plant seeds in small pots and encourage them to water and care for the plants. As they watch the plants grow, they will learn about nature’s cycles and the importance of nurturing living things.
Dance and Learn Combine movement and learning by creating a letter or number-based dance routine. For example, you can call out a number, and your child needs to jump or spin that many times. This not only helps them stay active but also reinforces basic concepts while providing a fun way to release energy.
Build with Blocks Building structures with blocks helps develop problem-solving and creativity. You can challenge your child to build specific structures like houses, bridges, or towers. While doing so, you can introduce simple math concepts like counting blocks and comparing sizes.
Holiday-themed Art Create festive art projects by encouraging your child to make holiday-themed decorations or greeting cards. Let them use glitter, glue, and markers to design their creations. These projects offer a fun way to express creativity and learn about different holidays and customs.
Conclusion
With these creative holiday homework ideas, both you and your child can enjoy the break without the feeling of boredom or pressure. These activities mix learning with fun, ensuring your child stays engaged while also building important skills.
