The season one dynamic is so important to me because you watch the first episode and you’re like “they’re gonna bone” even though they don’t really trust each other and its just this first time field agent who knows exactly what shes doing in theory but has never actually experienced any if this and this vetted agent who was renown for his profiles with violent crimes who every just thinks is crazy but the take each other so seriously from the get go and why the fuck are they standing that close to each other and then at the end of the season (which i estimate to be about a years worth of time) scully, who holds her job and success over everything else, is ready to lose her job to protect Mulder and he is mostly ready to give up the xfiles (in name atleast, you cant really have mulder without the xfiles) for the same reason.

They’re not friends, they’re not coworkers, they’re not romantically or sexual invoved they are a secret fifth thing

Let me tell you a secret, have you ever heard that greek myth where humans were made with two faces and four arms and legs until they got split in half and thats where soulmates came from? That was actually written to describe the relationship of Fox Mulder and Dana Scully

WITHOUT YOU BEING ABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT #listen to me. I don't usually have many problems with the show. but I do think the semi comedic tone of savage lands part 1 #was kind of weird sandwiched between all the serious stuff. I understand wanting some levity but everything is in the shit #so. allow me to make it angsty in a gay way. let me indulge for two seconds #WHAT IF YOU SO DESPERATELY WISHED HE SAW YOU AS HIS THIRD IN COMMAND #even if it doesn't matter now that he's gone. you want to think he'd give you that. that he saw you that way #and then he comes back... and you find out that he didn't #but also- he came back a robot. so is it really him? can you trust this illusion just because it talks and walks like him?#even if he isn't... could you ever leave him behind?#WHAT IF HE HELD YOU SO TENDERLY AFTER YOU SAVED HIM AND CARRIED YOU BACK TO SAFETY. just saw that you reblogged a snippet of Ghost in The Machine. Yes, she does get a little possessive, but she does a little flirting herself, doesn't she? She does the hair behind the ear thing :) oh Scully.

Then, Mulder seems to note when his ex-partner touches Scully's hand to keep her from paying. A tiny bit of "don't touch her" look.

My favorite ahas from this episode are

1. It's Halloween season, or someone just left the pumpkin with candy out all the time and

2. We get to see Scully and Mulder's lunch habits- they get sandwiches or what not and Scully might be the one who pays. Geez, is Mulder really that cheap?

"Is Mulder really that cheap?" XDDDDDD I think it was Scully's day to pay. He brought her the lunches in all things; so it's fair to say they take turns.

I will say, I think Scully was shyly tucking her hair behind her ear. It reminded me of meeting a friend's friend, or a friend's parent: someone who's heard a lot about you, apparently, and already likes you. The Starbuck in her was pleased she had pleased, I think.

The don't touch her look-- you're right! Eeeeeexcellent moment. >:D I do love that Mulder and Scully were possessive of each other from very early on (I'd say since Squeeze: he brazenly admitted it, she dressed down Colton over it. She finally-- admitted it in Tooms.)

Actually no, I don't think Colin's dead. There's been a BIG theme of transformation/apotheosis in the statements, and becoming one with your job/obsession (even literally In This Episode with the custodian). I think Colin's gonna be a part of Freddy now, in some way or another. He's probably gonna WISH he was dead, but I don't think we're quite done with him yet.
