cw: unbeta'd rambling once more, all mistakes are mine. vague references to true crime content, nothing graphic. just thinking of what would discomfort the charas, im basically throwing darts 🥴
i hc'd that kalim doesnt really get scared by ghosts and urban legends and to add onto that: i think kalim would be icked out by people with an interest in true crime.
like, the content hits uncomfortably close to his own encounters and some people frankly take a bit too much pleasure in going through all the gory details - wait, you're telling him there are people who fall asleep while listening to true crime podcasts?! on that note, some psychological thrillers (especially the 'adapted from true events' kind, compared to the 'dystopic social commentary' ones) would also fit into this category - just being plain uncomfortable to sit through, a movie/podcast/tv experience making him sick to his stomach.
i just think that kalim doesn't get the appeal at all, no matter the explanation. if someone tried to show him a few cases, he'd just be sitting in uncomfy silence.
(on the flipside, i think jamil hates horror movies with an abundance of jumpscares compared to slashers. he has an uncanny sense foretelling when they're gonna happen, but he still flinches during the actual jumpscare. bonus points if a fakeout is good, u get to see his soul jump out of his body twice.
on the topic of true crime, jamil just doesn't vibe with it, especially when it's not well-researched and/or poorly handled in its delivery. and like, he's already gotten the fearmongering-type of warnings* from the adults in his life plenty of times. he doesn't want to see it packaged in a spooky, edgy, internet detective-way, but he's more rational? understanding? of its appeal to others.)

Castiel Novak is twenty-six years old when he's killed in the Civil War. The first soul to be laid to rest in the grounds of the new Lawrence Memorial Cemetery, his spirit remains in a liminal space—not in the living world, but not passing on, forever tasked with helping other spirits to go where he cannot. His vigil over the grounds of his cemetery is a long and lonely one, unable to interact with anyone who still remains in the land of the living. Until he meets Dean Winchester.
Can 30k crush you, make you sob like a little baby, and then put you back together and hand you the most beautiful happy ending you could imagine? Absolutely!
We start the story with Cas' death before watching him as the guardian ghost of the cemetery. Stuck in limbo, he has to stay bound to earth and help other souls cross over after their death. It's a long and lonely existence, especially because those who are still alive can't see him. But all that changes when he meets Dean Winchester for the first time. He's merely a little boy then, but he's the first one who can see Castiel. And then he's gone. And he doesn't return until years later, as a hunter, to put Castiel to rest.
Now, this sounds like an enemies to lovers fic but it's really not. For the majority of this fic, Castiel and Dean aren't "enemies". They're friends. They care about each other. They spend time together, they get to know each other, they exchange gifts, they joke. They pine. The piiiiine! It's absolutely delicious. A romantic relationship is hard to pursue when one of the two is a ghost after all, but I promise you, through all your tears and all the angst (and the warnings, please read the warnings), there is a happy ending, and it's a damn good one, so trust in saltnhalo and you won't be disappointed.

Decided just now that it'd be really funny to have a whole bunch of different d&d characters who are all like former knights of the same order or crestfallen sellswords from the same mercenary company but also have all of them individually believing for their own reasons that they are the last surviving member of their group
#like they all think the others died horribly but all of them are alive and well just like not living near each other#like one of them saved up bought a spelljammer and set off to the astral sea#and she kept in contact via sending stones but during a pirate attack she dropped her stone overboard and is presumed dead#since that was her only method of communication with the material plane or something#One guy headed off to an ancient mystic mountain to hone their skills and everyone's just like ''Yeah NOBODY survives that mountain''#one guy who's like immortal and doesn't need to eat is just keeping an eternal vigil over some dead necromancer#making ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN he doesn't get back up#other member was injured presumed dead but nursed back to health by a nearby friendly peasant family#sort of thing#one dude just actually straight-up retired and just ghosted the group because he thought it'd be awkward#the warden of the keep heard the rumors they all spread and was just like ''Damn.. everybody's dead...'' and just locked the doors forever#which resulted in more gossip saying their order and/or company has fallen for good that all the others hear about#so they're all individually like ''Damn. looks like I'm the last knight and/or mercenary of the fallen order'' when they absolutely are not#I think it could be a funny concept to play with#Pun's text Posts

I promised my middle schoolers that if they could steal my keys off of me before tomorrow I'd bring them marshmallows and today they succeeded so I have to wake up extra early to go buy fucking marshmallows before work 😭
