BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa on Monday launched a free entrance examination coaching portal, GetCETGo, to equip students for the preparation for the entrance exams amid COVID-19 lockdown.
“The Corona pandemic has created a situation of disruption in our daily lives. This has derailed the plans of especially many young friends of ours who are at the crucial juncture of their lives – in Class 12,” said an official statement explaining the rationale for GetCETGo.
Deputy Chief Minister C. N. Ashwathnarayan, who also handles higher education ministry played an instrumental role in bringing out the online coaching programme, following the lockdown disrupting regular classes for thousands of students across the southern state.
GeCETGo helps students prepare for CET 2020 and NEET 2020.
“Comprehensive study material in the form of synopsis, practice questions, chapter-wise tests, mock tests and revision videos are available free to all students registered for CET 2020,” said the portal.

Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2020 will be held on 30 and 31 July. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan on Wednesay.
KCET 2020 was earlier scheduled to be held between 22 and 24 April but was postponed due to nationwide lockdown imposed by the central government to restrict the spread of COVID-19.
As per a report by The Indian Express, the minister said that in a bid to maintain social distancing, KCET 2020 will be held in more exam centres than was planned earlier.

KCET is conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). The examination is held for determining the merit for admission to the first year of full time courses for government share of seats in engineering, technology, B Pharma, 2nd year B Pharma, Pharma-D courses and farm science courses.
The Karnataka Examination Authority last week had extended the deadline for online applications for KCET 2020 to 18 May. Candidates can register themselves by visiting the website kea.kar.nic.in
Applicants can edit the online registration form from 20 to 22 May.
As per a report by The News Indian Express, Ashwath Narayan said that KCET 2020 will help students planning for admission into engineering colleges across the state which have about 62,000 seats.
He added that students are making good use of free coaching portal GetCETGo which was launched by the government to help them prepare for the examination.
A report by The Times of India mentioned the minister saying that the higher education academic year will commence from the first week of September.

BENGALURU: The Karnataka government on Monday launched a free online crash course “GetCETGo” to help all students of the state prepare for CET and NEET 2020 exams during COVID-19 lockdown. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa launched “GetCETGo” in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Higher Education C N Ashwath Narayan, an official release said.
It said, in view of the current situation across the nation due to COVID-19 lockdown, the Department of Higher Education, taking cognisance of the situation has decided to reach out to the student community eyeing on successfully cracking competitive exams for career progress through this online crash course programme.
The initiative will help young students who are at the crucial juncture of their lives – in II PUC or Class 12, at the time when regular classes and coaching initiatives which usually cater to these aspirations being put off due to the lockdown, it added.
Stating that the free programme made available to all students who are registered for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET)- 2020, the release said, registered students will be provided with a user ID and password to access the same.
The web portal and Android App – along with the content for the Crash Course have been developed by Sinchu Infotech and Deeksha Online, a reputed name in the industry with a very successful track record for the past couple of decades, it added.
The comprehensive platform for the crash course with the videos, synopsis, interactive tests will be the first initiative by any state, especially of this scale on an online platform for competitive examination in the country, it further said, adding that this scheme is intended to benefit all the 1,94,000 students who have registered for this programme.
