my vulva is really itchy and sore but I haven't had any kind of sex recently or even used any sex toys recently. I haven't changed my washing powder. I haven't douched ever or used soap inside my vulva or used any lotions or scents around my vulva. I last shaved 2 weeks ago with a razor and the same body wash I always use. I don't think it's BV or thrush and its driving me mad. help?

Shaving public hair can increase your odds of developing bacterial infections, yeast infections, and UTIs, all of which can present as soreness or itchiness. Underwear made of synthetic fabrics can, too. High-sugar diets, hormone fluctuations, thong underwear, dehydration, bath water quality, and some lubes can, too, as well as touching without washing hands thoroughly first. Long nails especially are fantastic at holding onto and transporting bacteria and fungi. Antibiotics can cause these issues, and antibiotics can cure these issues. Medications, too.

Short and simple annoying answer: Could be anything.

I recommend drinking lots of water and cranberry juice and seeing a doctor- if it is BV then using a yeast infection treatment will burn like holy hellfire and you dont want that. Getting a urine test is your best bet.

In the meantime, again, drink lots of water and urinate frequently. Don't wash with soap, but do wash, and do so with clean water. Wear loose clothing when possible made of breathable fabrics like cotton. Change underwear daily.

I'm not a doctor or a medical professional. These are just things I've picked up through work and life. My first recommendation is always to contact a doctor, and if you start producing unusual discharge, experiencing pain during urination, developing sores, welts, or a rash, or end up with swelling or pain in your lower back, DEFINITELY seek medical assistance.

Cholera has a long history in South Asia, but only spread to Europe in the 1830s. There's a whole lesson there on exploiting one's own and other peoples, because cholera outbreaks were strongly linked to slum conditions (when too many people live in too small an area to keep the poo out of the drinking water, you have a problem), and England was in peak Exploitation Mode around 1830.

The last major cholera outbreak in England was in London in 1866, and Chesterton was born 8 years later [updated because I messed up the dates before]. I imagine this image sort of haunting him like dude...stop being weird about Asia...stop...

But he didn't hear it and instead put it in a poem three decades later. Sigh.

I haven't seen this take a WHOLE lot, but I have seen it enough to get. Frustrated. About it.

So for anyone who doesn't get it: no, symptoms of mental illness are not, in every case, majorly or solely the result of Dealing With Capitalism. Sometimes, they can be! Sometimes the symptoms are situational, and those situations are heavily related to how much capitalism sucks! But many times they are not. I am sorry, but mental illness and trauma and neurodivergence are still going to exist even if capitalism completely goes away. We still have a responsibility to treat the people affected by and experiencing these things with compassion and understanding. We still have to. You know. Acknowledge that their life experience is going to be a lot different than many other's is.

I crack the egg on the rim of the sink which is clean, u got egg juice on ur counter???? this guy's an egg juice counter haver. I can't believe I'm being called out by a SALMONELLA COUNTER HAVER

a) you don't get egg juice on the counter when you do it properly

b) store bought eggs don't have salmonella they're pasteurized

c) there is this handy thing called sanitizer that you can wipe your counters with at any time

d) rim of the sink has backsplash from dirty dishes and i don't want that on my egg because if a piece of shell falls into the pan (which I'm not saying it DOES because I'm a flawless expert egg cracker thank you) I don't want sink juice in there

One weird way my OCD expresses itself is that apparently, according to my brain, germs can’t get to me in my own home. I don’t feel the compulsion to wash my hands as often or for as long or to use extra soap and I don’t feel as dirty after touching a surface. Even my cane feels cleaner when I’m at home.
