The Night of the Bayonet
The night was filled with dark and cold
When Sergeant Talbert, the story’s told
Pulled on his poncho and headed out
To check the lines dressed like a Kraut.
Upon a trooper, our hero came
Fast asleep, he called his name
Smith! Oh, Smith! Get up! It’s time
To take your place out on the line.
And Private Smith, so very weary
Cracked an eye all read and bleary
Then grabbed his gun, he did not tarry
Hearing Floyd but seeing Jerry.
Don't! cried Tab, It's me! and yet,
Smith charged, tout suite with bayonet.
He lunged, he thrust, both high and low
And skewered the boy from Kokomo.

Reminder to anyone who thinks George is absolutely Henry that young Lonnie was teased to be in TFS alongside Hopper…

sitting here thinking about george/young lonnie & how he’s at church in the audition tape and the cycles of abuse in ST and the evidence that points towards lonnie having sexually abused jonathan and/or will…
I’m staring DIRECTLY at young lonnie and the hawkins priests (specifically the possibility of “father brenner”) and sexual abuse in that regard.
I mean, Lonnie’s homophobia came from somewhere, right? It doesn’t excuse it but. Jesus christ.

There Are Rivers in the Sky by Elif Shafak
A wonderful book. I give it five stars. Of course I have niggles but still… I knew nothing about this book when NetGalley sent it to me, other than the author’s name, having previously read her The Island of Missing Trees - https://www.tumblr.com/joebloggshere/726387496212103168/the-island-of-missing-trees-by-elif-shafak-what-an - which I had loved. However, it turned out to be on subjects I have a particular interests in, Gilgamesh - https://www.tumblr.com/joebloggshere/752782472892268544/gilgamesh-a-new-translation-by-gerald-j-davis-i - George Smith and mythology.
Written from (at least) three different perspectives and timelines, sometimes overlapping, with water as the link between them all, this is a wonderful novel but I must warn you, it also includes details of man’s inhumanity to man.
Highly recommend.
With thanks to NetGalley, Viking Penguin, Fig Tree and Hamish Hamilton for the early read.

Charlotte Brontë's letter to her publisher George Smith talking about the third volume of "Villette". Notice that Charlotte used Lucy Snowe's original surname Frost.

I know this is going to sound rude but not sure how to make it not sound rude in this case. I have no idea why you guys would think George has any chance of being Lonnie. Lonnie is described as a simple man. That's his whole gimmick. ''He was just a man''. He does not have powers. He is not new in the town. I dont even think Lonnie will be that much of a big character. Maybe he will appear as a much background character but not really featured. He is connected to Joyce so it is a given but the play seems to be focusing on Jopper and Bob. Doubt Karen, Ted or Scott will be there. Because what are they even gonna focus on them? Unnecessary screentime it would be in the play. They already have Henry's entire plot to be featured, new character named Betty/Priest. And Jopper + Bob. That's enough in itself.
And while i am not saying it is 100% certain, it basically feels like George is Henry. He is described as an outcast who is a new kid in the town. He exhibits powers that are basically the same as Henry's. The fifteen years old age was likely just a coverup to keep Henry's identity a secret for the play. They do things like this all the time. And as for the kid who auditioned for the play-- this is a play. His character's apparence doesnt have to have blonde hair and blue eyes. The descriptions for the play can change or they can just use a wig. And i can assure you no one is gonna notice if his eyes are brown hazel or blue since this is... a play.
Even if we say that George has a possibility of being an entirely different character. Why does he have powers? Why focus on him so much. The play is literally about Henry's past. Why give this George dude the same power as Henry's? He can flicker the lights and sneak into people's minds and hear voices in the audition.
I mean if I’m wrong I’m wrong and it’s not a big deal 🤷🏼‍♀️ but at least I would have had fun while it lasted. It’s all speculative anyways, I mean, isn’t saying that Jopper is gonna be a focus speculative too? And of course you have a reason to think that, but there’s still a reason to think that George can be Lonnie too.
I mean even if he’s not, it’s still funny that all of the pieces would fit into place if he was. Lonnie has powers who supresses them but ends up passing them down to his son who he then abuses for.
And maybe you’re right and the whole point of Lonnie is to enforce this idea that normal people, like him, I mean, I made a similar argument as to why I don’t want Mike to have powers. He is a normal kid who is capable of being a hero in his own way. But Brenner also enforces this theme, as Vecna put it, he is a mediocre man who sought greatness in others.
And I did just make a post about how Lonnie interests me because of how seemingly normal he is. But that could also be part of it. Papa is the mediocre man who tricked others into thinking he was special and sought out the power he didn’t have in others, while Lonnie is a man with powers who seeks to eradicate it in himself and others. Either way you slice it could still back up some of the themes of the show.

Here's a Daredevil rogues gallery lineup I made since last year that I don't want to finish due to losing motivation lol. I was planning on adding more, but my style has changed and I would rather redraw all of these guys for a lineup in the future.

Watching 2012 Hollyoaks is just painful because I have fallen deeply in love with Callum and George, but I now know how Callum dies and it has killed a piece of me.
