Most kindle highlights: Beautiful prose; thoughtful, philosophical paragraphs; actually useful life advice worth noting down.

Shoutout to characters that move to other worlds and never look back, I could never be like you. I'd have to at least periodically check back with Earth because I could not handle never finding out how my favorite book series ended
#would i move to another world asap if a door opened? yes but i would need to be assured I can come back any time#because i need to know how some sagas end#like...#cosmere#the kingkiller chronicle#the lies of locke lamora#a song of ice and fire#the gentleman bastard sequence#nym's posts

High Fantasy Mastery in Scott Lynch's Red Seas Under Red Skies
Another Scott Lynch read under my belt with Red Seas Under Red Skies, though it wasn’t so easily accomplished as The Lies of Locke Lamora. That is through no fault of the writing or plot and purely my time management and multiple focuses tearing attention away from my reading. What a read Red Seas Under Red Skies is! There’s thievery, treachery, double-crossing, assassination attempts, convoluted…

but Lucanis was in Tevinter Nights which came out in 2020
Ah. More fool I, no?
#liv.txt#that's on me for not reading Tevinter Nights at the time 🫡#although actually Aristide Lucarno's name IS intentionally borrowed from somewhere else#'Lucarno' is a Shakespeare-like fictional playwright mentioned a few times in the Gentleman Bastard Sequence

JOEY, sarcastically rehearsing in her troll disguise: my name is joanna claire, bronzeblood. i am wearing clothes full of dammek’s sweat. i am dumb enough to walk around alternia without a weapon of any sort. also, i am, alas, entirely fictional.

I can't believe that in your post were you rate the covers of locke lamora books you missed the absolute mess that's the spanish cover. Google "Las mentiras de Locke Lamora" and it should pop up. You'll know you've found it if your eyes start bleeding
until now i lived in blissful ignorance thinking the spanish cover was just the green-gold cover (you know the one) with a translated title. i wish it was so, for i hate this and everyone involved in making it. here we go
this looks like something made on photoshop in five minutes by someone who forgot they had a deadline. this looks like (one of the better, let’s be honest) a wattpad cover made by a teenager working for free who really wants to show of their making-this-look-like-a-water-reflection skills but forgot they had to write too, so they just chose the first two fonts they found and called it a day.
the actual art in the lower part isn’t that bad, i just hate the style, and it looks really bad with the plain blue background. it looks like it’s been glued really badly on, and the shadows really makes the lack of shadows or anything else on the text stand out
i also can’t stand orange on blue, and that shade of dark red is also on thin ice.
One star out of five
