speaking of crocker and alternian gender roles. do you guys think being raised by an alien jane grew up with like. the weirdest mixed signals possible?

related to that other post, every time i think about nanna and jane getting to talk to each other i start foaming at the mouth

i really love both. they're so similar, but they're also so different

nanna wanted to rebel young. she tried to learn the batterwitch's secrets and surpass her, she didn't buy into the company thing at all and she wanted to take her down

she spent her whole life carefully planning her downfall, and if the condesce hadn't disappeared she would have done it (and god do i wanna know all her plans that would have been so sick)

but jane... even though she eventually realized, she spent her whole life wanting to be the next betty crocker. she thinks things like how she's going to sink the company's gnarled claws into the postal system, she wants to surpass the condesce... but not to destroy her. because she thinks she can run the company BETTER than her

and when her friends tell her she's evil she doesn't believe them, it takes her a bit to eventually realize that her whole life was a lie

and that difference is so fascinating to me

i wonder what jane would think, being confronted with that. meeting a version of her like that. i wonder what they would talk about, what they'd think of each other's lives

it's a little hopeful in some ways, but it's also a little fucked up
