The opening cutscene has been completely redone to remove any appearances of Player, leaving their appearance ambiguous. The scene of Skuld and Ephemer is still present, but only Player's hand is visible and the parallel between Player and Xehanort crying has been removed (edit for clarity: We still see Xehanort crying as he wakes up, but the shot of Player crying is absent)
Xehanort now makes several explicit references to him being the "child of destiny", as well an explicit statement that Ventus might be the child of destiny.
Xehanort now appears to hesitate before striking Baldr both times he approaches him, seeming to instead prepare to summon light (?) from his Keyblade before deciding to take the strike.
However, the zoom-in on Xehanort after he strikes Baldr down has been removed.
Player no longer specifies how many generations it's been since Ephemer's time.
