question: how did you discover/get into scooby doo?

this is something i'm always so interested to hear, being that there are few people who don't have at least some small tie to the franchise. whether you would consider it one of your biggest current interests or it's just something nostalgic from your childhood, i'd love to know how you found scooby and what it means to you!

#for me it was my dad! he grew up with the original show and wanted to introduce it to me #so one day when i was maybe? seven?? he came home with the winter wonderdog dvd and we watched it that night #from there we watched every single scooby doo movie that had ever been made #and got the new ones as they came out in subsequent years!#watching a new scooby movie with my dad every weekend are honestly some of my favourite childhood memories #also what's new scooby doo had also started airing on one of the main cartoon channels here in the uk around 2010 #so that's the show i watched the most consistently as a kid #velma was my original favourite of the gang because i looked a lot like her (big glasses/same haircut/etc.)#people would always compare me to her and it genuinely gave me a lot of confidence in my appearance that stays with me to this day #but fred was always my firm second favourite - he made me laugh the most of any character #and took on a deeper meaning to me in my adolescence when i realised i was autistic and strongly identified with his portrayals as such #the characters are probably what's kept me coming back all this time - they've been with me forever #and i love them individually + as a team who support each other with their unique skills and love for one another #but also the wacky adventures and general aesthetic #many people joke about the basic plot being the same every time but it makes my autistic brain happy #i love permanence and consistency baby!!!!!#and the different variations on that same formula always keep things fresh and fun #anyway ramble over #looking forward to hearing you guys' responses! :D #scooby doo #nem misc posts :]

walked in this morning snd my coworker says You're training today! and I said Oh.

#IM OT GOOD WITH POEPLEEE Eepecially not new people and #the girl im training is quiet And so am i so im like forcing mhself to be kind of outgoing Its torture.#And i also dont know how to..ask people to do things #or tell them to do something #Which is like. almost all of what training is #omfg im only 18 and shy whyy whyyy #well its not too bad actall6 hut inwas really nervous at first but im getting more used to it #but i gave to train people bc im a Team Lead #which means nothing to me except thay i know how to do my job #and a 50 cent pay increase than not being one Wow..!#i wanna sleep so bad #Only. 3 and half more hours after my break ends.#i am glad tho atkeast it is good experience for like.. interacting with people #this job in general has made me a lot better at that and less anxiety aroujd it #but im still a shy and quiet person to begin with #and i say weird things on accident #Its funny tbh hiw often i say something just like. so basically it's about a guy called neil who's not actually called neil bc turns out he's the son of a HIGHLY abusive mafia hitman and him and his mother have been running from this guy for years which ofc means changes in identity and a SHIT ton of issues ranging from good old fashioned paranoia to lighting cigarettes not to smoke them but to let them burn down bc the smell reminds you of your mother's burning corpse. but neil is obsessed and i mean OBSESSED with this made up sport called exy which is like lacrosse but with the violence of ice hockey and he joins a pro-team despite aforementioned ABUSIVE MAFIA DAD AFTER HIM and guess what! the guy who signed him is called kevin and his ex-team are affiliated with the mafia too! including neil's dad! neil just screwed himself over big time! but who cares when you have exy! enter: andrew minyard. andrew is a blonde, 5ft, ex-juvie, under-court-surveillance-for-grevious-bodily-harm goalkeeper currently working unofficially as kevin's bodyguard and, while we never get an actual diagnosis bc god forbid we handle mental health properly in this thing, it's implied that he has some kind of psychosis and, as part of his plea bargain, is legally obgligated to take incredibly mood-altering medication that makes him manic in exchange for being allowed to stay on the team (aka with kevin who he's VERY possessive of), done entirely for the wellbeing of those around him and effectively against andrew's will. does he stick to that deal? fuck no! but it doesn't stop there! andrew proceeds to spend the entire book being as violent and unpredictable and generally cunty as possible in order to figure out What Neil's Deal Is bc neil is capital S Shifty and andrew is convinced he's from kevin's old mafia cult team trying to hurt him. we spend an entire book watching the three of them wrestle between neil's paranoia, andrew's protectiveness and kevin's desire to Please Can We Just Play Exy. there are some keys involved. someone dies. there are two more books. inexplicably two of the characters can speak fluent german purely from high school classes.

Going through the Utahim.e tag had me checking several times if at some point I had clicked on the G.ojo/Utahim.e one instead

#It's mainly the ship and mainly ship art. Very pretty btw. There's people with gorgeous styles there #There isn't even a lot of x reader fics haha I guess people don't want to bang Utahime?#Anyway... lowkey wished this happened with Ijichi lol #I so wanted Ijichi to mention or even hint at a mention of Gojo one last time like they did with Nanami #If nothing else for the weight of it all. The weight of feeling your youth dying piece by piece alongside the people who made it out #And everything it implies #Art of Shoko dealing with Gojo's death even in a cold way always strikes hard for that motive but I always love it #with pretty much everyone of those years. There was one piece I saw once that was not explicitly or necessarily romantic about Utahime #being hit by Gojo's death and I don't recall exactly how it was (I think I may have queued it?)#but it moved me more than any piece more clearly emotional that I had seen before #I don't know. I thought it held the potential of that. That weird uncomfortable heartbreaking feeling #of hearing bad news about old friends or classmates and how it makes you realise the weight of time #They suffered and accident. They tried to kill themselves. They are very sick. Their sibling or parent died. And you knew these people #You saw them daily for years. Maybe you weren't close but you knew these people. They cut my bangs when I was eight and I punched them #I tripped over them playing hide and seek and we both lost at the same time. We both hated each other's favourite teacher #They borrowed my pen once and then never gave it back. I once drenched them at the fountain after PE and it was winter but they laughed #Their mother got mad though. Now she's dead. We were made to sit together in French class in middle school. They loved to keep their hair l #Now they're sick and have lost their hair #Their little sibling was so annoying always trying to make us play with them during recess too. It was kinda cute. Now they're dead #I don't know. That kind of stuff #Utahime boosts Gojo and then he dies. Shoko opens him up to make a tool of his body #Ijichi accompanies another kid to clean after him in the meanwhile. And then the realisation hits. He is dead #He was annoying. He was my friend. He was so rude #He had such a sweet tooth. He laughed so loudly. He used to lean over people when talking with them #We were kids once. We are here now. He isn't here anymore. Some of us haven't been here anymore for a long while. It's been so long #He was still young. I am still young. We felt so old. At times it feels as if the time back then didn't happen at all.#And now he's dead and oh it's true he was so annoying but he also had such a sweet tooth. I forgot. What do I do with this memory now?#At times it felt as if the time back then didn't happen at all but then at times it shone through. He brought it back #He asked me a favour knowing I wouldn't betray his secret. He still teased the same way. He still leaned on people. gonna write a whole thing someday about how characters of color who clearly have a history of trauma or mental health issues aren’t given consideration or acknowledgement in the fandom imagination

#this is first and foremost about yennefer being canonically suicidal and it being never brought up in fandom #but people can talk about how they think she’s a bitch just fine like we’re all stuck in 2005 #but also applies to like just about every character of color who has a prominent role in sci/fi fantasy genre space #because they sure get made to suffer a lot by these writers but in the white imagination that’s not noteworthy at all?#but also Scott McCall #who deadass attempted suicide on screen in one ep?#suicide tw #which I have moved on from teen wolf but it for very obvious reasons another great example #or Michael Burnham who canonically had a fucked up childhood that gave her a lifelong martyr complex #but if you ask who clearly has ptsd on the show it’s not her because it needs to get spelled out even though she is the main character?#Or even Culber; they bonded once over how they both died!#but we don’t do that with white boy side characters 5-7 #they try to hate crime someone on screen and people are making shit up to justify before whatever media it is finishes airing #we talk about diversity in media #but one of the catch 22s is that more diverse media tends to be genre media #because that’s allowed to push boundaries #but as a fan of color you have to mentally prepare yourself for witnessing trauma every time #meanwhile the silly no stakes fun shows get majority white or entirely white casts every time #so you get this fun thing where if you’re white and want a fun escape you get a buffet of laughs #and if you’re a person of color at best you *dont* get to see yourself die on screen #anyways this has been a middle of the night that no one should be taking seriously #*rant #gotta make sure everything referencing tw isn’t in the first 5 tags or I might wake up to a whole essay crying in the inbox
