I did something completely unnecessary and looked up ages and timelines for dreamland/isekai protagonists and liminal spaces. What you do with the following information will be for you to deal with now. (Because I feverishly looked all of this up between the span of last night and this morning, despite math not being my strong suit, there is a chance I took a few wrong notes here and there. If you catch any I missed, I’ll edit the op.)
In late 2020, presumably mid-December after everyone’s birthdays passed, Eustace and Jill (the Final Battle) would be 87, Fran Bow would be 76, Milo (the Phantom Tollbooth) would be 69-72, Jesse Aarons (the Bridge to Terabithia) would be 52-60, Sarah Willians would be 50-55 (depending on when between 1980 and 1986 The Labyrinth is set in), cinema Bastian B. Bux would be 52 (book Bastian would be 46), the surviving Stranger Things cast would all be 37 years older, Sunny (OMORI) would be 40-44, Calvin (Calvin and Hobbes) would be 41, Helena Campbell (Mirrormask) would be 30-34, Misfortune R.H. would’ve been 27, Coraline would be 22-30, Madotsuki could’ve been anywhere between 26 and 45 if she survived, assuming this was set in the year of the release date, Max (the Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl) would be 25, and if the same assumption as for Yume Nikki applies, Ib would be 17 (quoting exact years in an abstract alternate dimension is not exactly reliable), making Garry presumably between 26 and 37.
Clara Silberhaus (the Nutcracker) was a senior by the time Alice fell into Wonderland.
Dorothy Gale was the same age as Digory and Polly (the Magician’s Nephew). They would have been in their twenties when Peter Pan and his shadow met Wendy, who would be in her mid-to-late twenties when Christopher Robin played in the Hundred-Acre Wood. Christopher would have been 24 when Fran Bow was taken to Ithersta. (And while it could be written off as an easter egg, a younger alternate Fran was friends with an alternate Alice. Being a younger alternate, they could have both been born later than in the timeline of the player’s Fran.)
Christopher Robin was 29 when Narnia was rebuilt from scratch, Wendy was in her mid-to-late 30′s, and Dorothy, Digory and Polly were ~69 (nice).
Milo (the Phantom Tollbooth) and Jesse Aarons are 9-20 years apart depending on when in the 70′s Jess and Leslie’s stories are supposed to take place.
The main events of Stranger Things mainly take place in Hawkins, Indiana, starting in 1983-- or 1979 if you count the first time a gate was opened even temporarily. Project Async’s known operations ran between the late 1980′s and late 1990′s, and is implicated by association with the Loma Prieta earthquake to be based in California. Their first prototype was run in May 1982, a year before the first sustained opening into the Upside-Down. The events of EverymanHYBRID concluded in 2010.
The City of Light and Land of Shadows, the Hundred-Acre Wood, the Lands Beyond, Neverland, Wonderland and the Looking Glass, the beldam (in the book wherein Coraline did not take place in Oregon) and much of Narnia’s invitations all made contact with our world (or at least one variation thereof) through England, especially London. Whether pagan practice was all that stood between Brits and an outbreak of dimensional rifts before the christianization of Europe remains unknown. If all these events happened in the same universe, well, maybe that just happened to be the arrival point of that escape route The Web was working on. I, of course, am entertained by the idea of Jon the Archivist becoming Jon the Hunger in this absolute crossover singularity I’ve just propositioned.

This is another conceptual production I have in mind, influenced by the 2014 Dallas Theatre Center production. Imagine a contemporary look at the script, with more attention being paid to telling the story for how we need it today rather than how it’s always been produced. If you wanna know more or just talk about it with me, feel free to shoot me a DM.
(Also can y’all tell how much I’m crushing on Heath Saunders??)

Cynthia Nixon, Robert Altman's Tanner ‘88, and running for public office now & then:
The Democratic primary for Governor of New York is on Thursday, September 13. Based on polls, it appears that incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo will prevail and run for his third term despite the populist wave and attention around his primary opponent, actress Cynthia Nixon. Nixon, a longtime public-school and education activist, has never been in elected office, and her acting background has been characterized as both a blessing and curse with regard to her visibility and viability as a candidate. Her iconic role as Miranda Hobbes in the television program Sex & the City can be what Cuomo voters point to in not taking her seriously, in addition to her inexperience; meanwhile, Nixon's campaign created apparel in the "I’m a Miranda Collection," which includes t-shirts and tote bags with the slogans "I'm a Miranda and I'm voting for Cynthia." Nixon's campaign has played a delicate balancing act in what gets her attention and an outlet to be heard when up against an entire party apparatus and status quo. Yet the renegade, populist outsider–underdog candidate–that Cynthia Nixon has been characterized as in running against the establishment-backed Cuomo does bear parallels to a role in her acting career: Robert Altman and Garry Trudeau’s made-for-television HBO mini-series Tanner ‘88, for which Nixon played the daughter of a Presidential candidate for the 1988 Democratic Party nomination -- a series where the lines of fiction, real life, and electoral politics blurred. Cynthia Nixon is for real as a candidate for Governor, but back in 1988 she took part in one of the more unique hybrids of fictional and non-fictional political theater, giving one of her strongest performances.

You Ain't My Mother! (1 October 2001)
And so we come to the episode containing the moment many revere as the best in soap history.
Lynne Slater is set to marry a very complicated man called Garry Hobbs. We will further explore his tortured existence on another occasion, but tonight he’s very much the sideshow to probably EastEnders’ best ever hen do.
Tumblr media
The Slater sisters head to the curry house, fronted by Big Mo, telling Little Mo here she doesn’t get out much if she’s excited about going to a restaurant. She’s got a point. It is a bit tame.
Tumblr media
They walk past the Vic, which is anything but tame. Garry spends his entire stag do convulsing through layer upon layer of self-parody.
Tumblr media
Pat, Little Mo, Kat, Zoe, Sharon, Lynne, Peggy, Dot. Natalie and Lisa making up the numbers. Not really much more you could ask for. You’re looking at a star-studded line-up.
Tumblr media
Dot steals this episode for me. Full of one-liners throughout. She kicks things off with “What’s an aloo gobby?” before plumping for a vindaloo.
“Might have to put your loo rolls in the fridge, though, Dot!” – Kat Slater, GOAT.
Things get a bit tense when Kat questions Zoe ordering alcohol.
Tumblr media
Back to the pub. Charlie is painfully aware what a mess his daughter’s marrying, and challenges his commitment through a novel game.
Tumblr media
She looks how I feel.
“That is a button. If you press that, Lynne will disappear. She won’t be hurt. She won’t think bad of you. She just won’t be there anymore. The question is, would you press that or not. If you would, then marrying her is the biggest mistake you’ll ever make.”
Worth a try, eh, Charlie.
Tumblr media
Pat owns having had her fair share of men.
Tumblr media
Of course, Peggy’s right back in there with “Yours or other people’s?”
Tumblr media
Och.
Tumblr media
Come on. Let’s keep it friendly. Natalie, tell us about how Barry sticks his neck out when he talks.
Tumblr media
LOL.
Tumblr media
And Lynne, tell us about how Garry’s always looking over his shoulder.
Tumblr media
Pat says all men have their little foibles. “Little what?!”
Tumblr media
Ah, they’re all getting on famously now.
Tumblr media
Pat, tell us about how Roy plays with his tie when he gets frisky.
Tumblr media
Yeah, maybe not, actually. Don’t bear thinking about.
Tumblr media
This is a festival of soap icons reciting all the ‘men, eh’ cliches in the book. Sharon’s of course the reigning champ at this and chips in with the winning effort.
“Can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em!” Oh, Shaz.
Tumblr media
Uh oh, not these two again. Kat’s going all soppy and freaking Zoe out.
Tumblr media
“She’s slobbering all over me again.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, get stuffed, Zo.”
Tumblr media
Professional tension diffuser Peg is straight on the case and asks when the mysterious additional Slater sister is arriving.
Tumblr media
And here she is. Must be a fan of the show, coming dressed as the world’s fave landlady.
Tumblr media
My favourite moment of the ep was Phil, more open to having some fun with the lads back in these days, loosening up enough to say something like “Trace?
Tumblr media
“Feed the jukebox, babe, will ya?”
Tumblr media
Stripper’s arrived.
Tumblr media
Never seen so much delight on these people’s faces.
Tumblr media
Lads, lads, lads. Cos these three always hang out. Not!
Tumblr media
OMG, tits!
Tumblr media
Yes, back to the hen do, I think.
Tumblr media
Kat’s not happy Belinda’s there. Belinda, just to recap for anyone less clued up on the rarest Slater sister, is a Two-Dimensional Snooty Cow.
Tumblr media
Oh, no, Garry, mate. Don’t proposition the stripper for a quick shag, FFS.
Tumblr media
Lynne deserves better, the oblivious angel.
Tumblr media
Seeing Pat happy is the single greatest pleasure of my life, TBH.
Tumblr media
Belinda’s wig’s come off.
Tumblr media
Off it comes, that’s it. Who needs strippers?
Tumblr media
Just push the button, ya daft prick!
Tumblr media
Belinda has now transformed into Humbled Two-Dimensional Snooty Cow and is pushing for that third dimension by opening up about how shit her life actually is.
Tumblr media
A game of truth or dare unearths a gem of a story from Dot, as she reveals she once kissed another man back in 1953, whilst she was with her first husband-to-be Charlie, on the day Dylan Thomas died. It’s a fucking beautiful bit of writing, and, obviously, acting. June Brown will go to her grave without a Bafta to her name, and that makes me feel physically sick.
Tumblr media
She recites a poem she heard on the radio the next day. The man she kissed never came back for her. Wistful AF.
“Under the mile high moon we trembled listening To the sea sound flowing like blood from the loud wound And the salt sheet when it broke like a storm of singing The voices of all the drowned swam on the wind”
Tumblr media
Garry, just marry the girl.
Tumblr media
Good lad.
Tumblr media
Right, shall we get to what we’re all here for?
youtube
That’s such good shit.
Tumblr media
You see, most of us claim to be above EastEnders. But we all know this clip like the back of our hand, don’t we. Scientists, surgeons, professors, whatever. When it comes down to it, we’re all just people who either freely celebrate or lie about not knowing of this enthralling moment of world-class drama.
