Broadway has turned into something commercialised and all about money, rather than stages for stories to be shared. people only care about how much money shows make, but people never give new shows a try so amazing new shows that tell important stories and production and soundtrack and actors close. if there's not a big tv (specifically tv, people don't care about actual BROADWAY legends anymore) name for the media or it's not a revival people don't care. new musicals that tell historical stories that shouldn't be forgotten close after a few months, no matter how amazing the story or score or set or actors are. Broadway isn't about the heart anymore, it's about money and big names. it's barely even for theatre people.

Lempicka is closing and i am devastated for so many reasons. Harmony already closed earlier this year.

Tamara de Lempicka was a famous painter. she was married to a rich man, and originally painted their daughter or landscapes and things like that, but she eventually painted Rafaela -- her girlfriend. she painted her mainly naked and they loved each other. she was a bisexual painter, and more than that a brilliant painter, and she is being forgotten. she was part Jewish, too. she fled to Paris with her husband, which is where she met Rafaela.

there's a musical about her. it's closing on May 19th. it opened officially on Broadway on April 14th. both this year.

The Comedian Harmonists were a band. they were an internationally popular German band between 1928 and 1934. 3 of the 6 of them were Jewish. Nazi Germany started in 1933. you can probably piece together what happened, but i'll tell you anyway. they were separated and erased. they were not forgotten, they were erased. Nazis destroyed almost all of their recordings. the Harmonists never saw each other again. their names were Ari Leschnikoff, Harry Frommermann, Robert Biberti, Roman Cycowski, Erwin "Chopin" Bootz and Erich A. Collin.

there was a musical about them. it closed on February 4th, and opened officially on Broadway on November 13th (2023).

do not let Tamara or the Harmonists go forgotten. listen to Lempicka and Harmony. research the people. find bootlegs of the musicals if you can. learn about them. teach about them. please, don't let people forget about them.

this isn't about the musicals closing, these are about important people being forgotten and erased from history. please, don't let this happen.

Notes: MP4 format. Filmed from center rear mezzanine. Mix of wide shots and zooms. Overall relatively steady shot, some obstruction often due to the heads in front of me at times. And yet able to get very good feel for this (hopefully not frozen yet) show. Wideshots are washed out, and George Abud is the main offender with Eden Espinosa close behind. A few dropouts, the longest being about a minute and a half when changing the camera battery in Act 1. NFS forever except through master and NFT through April 24, 2029.

Here are songs from 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' (THE STAGE MUSICAL) I think fit my OCs, either just as characters or during their time in Fleur City for the Glorious Masquerade— possibly with another character

I'm imagining Malleus like brings Irina somewhere high up— kinda Howl's Moving Castle style, or just teleportation— and they just sit there huddled close together looking out at the city from up high.

So Malleus would be Quasimodo here and Irina Esmeralda

There are, like, so many songs that remind me of Sunny and Miguel. I just wanted to share some (and yes, there will be a lot of musical songs in here bc I'm such a theatre kid).

"She's So Lovely" - Scouting for Girls.

It describes how Miguel sees Sunny. He is so in love with this girl.

"What Would I Do Without You?" - Drew Holcombe and The Neighbours.

Both of them have went through so much. They've lost people. They've had their darkest moments, and... they found each other. In the vastness of the multiverse, these two found each other.

"Layla" - Derek & The Dominoes.

(While Layla may not be Sunny's name, the vibe is there). Like, tell me the lyrics "Like a fool, I fell in love with you//You turned my whole world upside down" aren't how Miguel would feel. He let down his walls and finally let someone creep in. He's letting himself be vulnerable. It's beautiful.

"Heaven's Light" - Michael Arden (Hunchback).

You cannot convince me that this is not what went through Miguel's head after Sunny kissed him for the first time.

"I Will Be There" - Mark Seibert & Willemijn Verkaik (Count of Monte Cristo, demo).

No matter what, Miguel and Sunny will always try and be there for each other. No matter what may come between them, they'll always fight to end up by each other's side again.

"When He Sees Me" - Sara Bareilles (Waitress, cover).

This could go both ways. Both of them being nervous for the other getting too close. And then, they get to the bottom of it and it's just... they're scared of what happens if the other gets too close.

Do I even have to say who this would be for? C'mon, we all know that this man would deny, deny, deny that he's in love with someone. Miguel is just "nope. Nope. Not in love." And then he sees Sunny being cute, and it's just... "...crap, yeah fine I love her,,,,"
