A.U.gust 2024

It's almost August again, so time for us to explore alternative universes and see all the other ways in which our boys could fall in love. 😊

For this year, each week will have a general theme, and anything that falls under that theme is allowed, as long as it's original. WIPs, updates or re-imaginings of your own previous works are also allowed (to use someone else's work as inspiration, please ask for their consent before starting).

As always, no sign-ups are needed for this event. Just make sure to mention me using @gallavichthings on the body of your post (you can hide it under a read-more or by using a reblog if you wish to). Posting here on Tumblr is mandatory, but you can host your work somewhere else and post only a link if you want to. There will, of course, be a collection on AO3 (to be announced later).

Some posting suggestions (nothing is mandatory, but it would be courteous):

Tags are to your own discretion, but I suggest tagging NSFW works or hiding them under read-mores (in case of visual posts - fics are normally not an issue).

If you post a long fic on Tumblr in its entirety, it's best to use a read-more in order not to make your post too long and take up a lot of space on people's dashboards and on the tags.

For posting multiple unrelated works on AO3, posting separate works and making them part of one series is better than making each work a chapter of one single fic. That way, you can tag it appropriately and people can more easily find the fic they actually want to read. (That doesn't apply, of course, if your fics are actually connected.)

And without further ado, the themes for each week (please note that a few examples were provided for each week, but they're just a small fraction of what can be done):

Week 1 (01/08-07/08): Seasons/ Holidays (Christmas AUs, summer vacations AUs, New Year's AUs, Halloweeen AUs...)

Week 2 (08/08-14/08): Past/Future (Pirate AUs, Cyberpunk AUs, 1950s AUs, Star Trek AUs...)

Week 3 (15/08-21/08): School/Work (High School AUs, College AUs, Office AUs, Coffee Shop AUs, Tattoo Shop AUs...)

Week 4 (22/08-28/08): Supernatural (Vampire AUs, A/B/O, Soulmate AUs, Superhero AUs...)

Week 5 (29/08-31/08): Free - since this is only half a week, these last three days will be for anything that does not fit any of the other weeks.

If you aren't able to finish your work in time to post it in the designated week, please wait to post it in the last three days. If your AU falls under more than one category, you may post in any week you prefer, according to what you judge to be the most relevant to your work.

Hi there Fic Fans! During this season of love, giving, and joy, we want to help spread some of that joy to all of the wonderful fanfiction writers out there. So that’s 20: “I don’t want to hear your excuse. You can’t just give me wet-willies.”

Ian opened his eyes and stretched. The realization that it was a lazy Sunday and he had nothing to do but cuddle in bed with his husband hitting him. He rolled over wrapping himself around the warm, still sleeping form next to him and started pressing soft kisses into all the skin he could reach with his lips.

“Mmm,” Mickey moaned softly. “More sleep.”

But Ian was awake, excited and a little horny. “Come on, Mick. If you wake up I’ll give you a blow job and make you Banana pancakes.” He whispered and lightly poked Mickey in the ribs where he knew he was ticklish. Mickey yelped.

Well that got a response, Mickey’s head whipped over, “the fuck you poking me for?” He said grumpily before curling back up.

What happened next couldn’t be helped. Ian reached over and slowly poked his husband again in the same spot.

“Oh helllll no.” Mickey growled and before Ian even knew what had happened he was pinned down on his back with Mickey sitting in his chest, fingers digging into his ribs.

“Aarggghh,” Ian let out a strangled sound that was half laugh half cry as he tried to regain control. But it was a fool’s errand. Mickey was freakishly strong.

“You wanna go, huh? Couldnt help yourself, huh? Had to poke the bear.” Mickey grunted as he managed to secure both of Ian’s wrists in one child-size hand like a weird magic trick.

Then he sucked on a knuckle and did the worst thing imaginable in husband on husband warfare — he stuck it in Ian’s ear.

Ian’s cry sounded throughout the bedroom.

“Now go make me banana pancakes, bitch!” Mickey said with a laugh, releasing him.

Ian, aghast and defeated, got up and and walked to the kitchen.

A few minutes later a contrite Mickey entered the kitchen, head hung low.

He went up behind Ian and wrapped him arms around him where he stood flipping pancakes.

“Ian-“ he started.

“I don’t want to hear your excuse,” Ian cut him off, “You can’t just go around giving me wet-willies.”

“M’sorry.” Mickey mumbled, squeezing him tighter, searching for his missed morning cuddles.

Ian turned around, sucking on his knuckle and stuck it in his husband’s ear.

The cry could be heard down the block

Gallavich Triple Trope Event 2023

I was so excited to do the Second Triple Trope Event hosted by @its-a-queer-thing

This round I had the tropes Mermaid AU, Old Age, and Hurt/Comfort.

Here is (most of) the fic I wrote for this challenge!

Ian is sick. Sick to the point that he's in the hospital after an emergency triple bypass and the doctor is suggesting to Mickey that he be placed in a retirement home. Not that Mickey is a spring chicken himself. In their seventies Ian and Mickey are in the golden years, their adult children Yevgeny and Rue are there to help them bounce back from Ian's heart attack. But when Ian starts having sundowners episodes in the evening, they may not have a choice about going to a retirement home.

But fifty years ago when they met, there was a different ending planned. Where Mickey would go back with Ian to where they first met, and go back to his home.

michelle are you in MY HEAD?! there were a few prompts i wanted to pic so so so sooo badly but i knew it would suit a fic so much better than art. so with great pain, i let them go! but i'm so excited to see/read all about them!

Also, having just come off the Big Bang, I was reading these prompts in the wrong headspace, and kept thinking ‘there’s gonna be a huge amount of moments in that fic I can illustrate, that’s so exciting!!’ before realising that Nope! If I claim it, there will be NO moments in that fic at all, because there will be no fic!! 😱 not fair!

But super excited to see what happens with everything I didn’t claim!! ::scratches at carpet::

Gallavich Masquerade 2024

Let's have a New Year's Masquerade Ball!

This time it'll be a mixed one, for fic writers and fanartists! The fanworks will be revealed on December 31st and people will have up to January 31st to cast their votes.

As you now know, in a Masquerade, creators (fic authors and fanartists) will produce their works anonymously. These fanworks will all be revealed at the same time on December 31st - our New Year's Masquerade Ball! - and fans (previously called readers and admirers) will have a month to attempt to guess who's behind each mask, that is, who made what. Creators are encouraged to try to fool everyone!

Details after the read more, but don't forget to please spread the word. This will be fun!

Requirements

All fics must have between 2,000 and 5,000 words. For art, there are no requirements. (Needless to say, AI "works" are not allowed.)

No theme is required or forbidden, but, as this is an event in which the goal is to have as many people checking out our work as possible, fanworks in niche categories are not advised. Regardless of what you do, please tag accordingly.

I don't know what to write/draw about!

You can get inspiration from anything you want. It can be canon-compliant, canon-divergent, after the show ended, AU...

But, if you still need some ideas, you can find some here, here or here (not to mention @callivich always has tons of prompts lists).

Sign-ups

Signing-up is required and can be done here. For this event, sign-ups can be done up to the time of posting. Unlike other events, this is one where you will need to sign-up only at the end, after the fanwork is done. You'll be required to add your AO3 username and the title of your fanwork.

What if I don't have an AO3 account?

Then I'm very sorry, but in this case, you won't be able to participate (as a creator). For this event, having an AO3 account is mandatory so that you can post in the collection. That being said, a lot of people have AO3 invites, so ask right now and someone may be able to send you one.

Posting

Posting will be done on AO3 and AO3 only! This is because the Masquerade Collection will be unrevealed and anonymous. All posting must be done until December 29th. On December 31st, all fics will be revealed and available for the readers. (The two days different is to ensure that everyone has posted before I reveal them.) The fanworks will remain anonymous until January 31st, when the game ends. (Please take note that this may be extended if there are a large number of fics). On February 1st, the authors' identities will be disclosed (and your fic will appear under your account just like any other fic).

As an creator, all you have to do is, when posting on AO3, choose to do it under the Gallavich Masquerade 2024 Collection (as in the picture below). I'll take care of the rest. It's important to do so when posting and not after, or it won't work. You can go to My Works > Works in Collections to confirm that it worked.

Voting

Voting will be done via a new form, which will be disclosed only after the fanworks are posted. All titles will be displayed and fans will chose from a menu who they think the creator is. This time, voting is mandatory in all three guesses. If you don't know who to vote for or if you haven't had a chance to read a fic, for example, just take a guess. Also, you might as well guess three different creators to increase your chances, even if you think you're sure who it is.

Points

There are two ways of winning this game, as a creator and as a fan.

Creators are awarded 1 point for each person who correctly guesses their fic/fanart on the first try, 2 for correct second guesses, 3 for correct third guesses and 7 points for each person who wrongly guesses it (that is, matches three different creators to your fanwork). That's right, you get more points if you're actually able to deceive everyone.

Fans are awarded 5 points for each fanwork they guess correctly on the first guess, 3 for each correct second guess and 1 for each correct third guess (obviously the points are only awarded once, so there's no need to guess the same work more than once). No points are being deducted this time.

Creators can also be fans, so they have twice the chance of winning. There will be separate winners for artists and writers.

Prizes

Winners will get boasting rights! XD Plus, of course, a special post for them.

If anyone would like to make fanworks for the winners (like art for the winning writers, fics for the winning artists, edits, whatever), please let me know, that would be super nice!

Hello everyone!

We decided that this month we wanted to do something fun in honour of Noelvember!

On our discord server, we are hosting an event for people to produce fan works in honour of Noel. Mickey can be included, of course, but we are focused on Noel's body of work.

We are happy to see crafts, fics, collages, really whatever the beauty that is Noel inspires you to create!

Posting day for final works will be Nov 29th, and on the 30th we will have everyone vote for their favorites!
