Favorite Things: Century of Love pt 1
Some series get better the more you think about it and this is definitely one of those. There are so many layers to this story and the characters. You expect popcorn from a story that starts with a magic rock and a goddess that is launching a BL ship, but this story ended up being an entire meal.
Century of Love is definitely going to need a re-watch. It's so easy to get caught up in the immediate action and loose focus on the complex themes woven throughout the series. Love the exploration around fate vs choice, stagnation vs growth, love and loss, trauma and healing, prejudice, forgiveness. This show gives us so much to explore and digest. Re-watching it will be so satisfying, someday, when we have the emotional bandwidth to handle all this show dishes out.

Spoilers ahead with discussions and posts about some of the many reasons we loved this series:
We are huge suckers for a red thread. This scene had us instantly hooked and smiling. @namtan gave us 😍 GIFS:
@jimmysea put together a great post showing so much of the cute Episode 6 gave us right before the story starts heaping on the pain.
Ready for more pain? Every time we revisit these scenes, it hurts all over again. But apparently we are here for the pain because we love them. @heretherebedork put together a great post about Vee not being able to say goodbye and lot go of those he loves. Ironically, the only way for Vee to save San is to let go. It hurts so much and we love it!
This scene was devastating. Everything about it was epic and so well done, we love it more than is healthy! @heretherebedork once again put together a great post highlighting some of the layers that make this scene so rich:
😍 And @wanderlust-in-my-soul capture the scene so well in this gorgeous GIFS:
This scene was so bitter sweet. Both of them look like they are seconds away from shattering to pieces. 💔 This part of the story was devastating and the acting was perfect. Offroad looks like he already had a hard cry. @wanderlust-in-my-soul again gave us stunning GIFS:
"Please don't do this if you don't want me." This script is great! Thank you @namtan for GIFS of this great scene:
This series had so many beautiful scenes, it's impossible to choose a favorite. But this scene was definitely up there. Plus the acting was equally 😍 @poetry-protest-pornography had a great post with stunning GIFS of this scene:
@gay-meowmeow cracked us up with this!
❤ There were too many posts we loved to share them all here! Find more in Part 2

Every time I see this scene, it hurts and I love it so much. Hirukawa sees Minase, looks right at him, but doesn't believe he's actually there. As if he's been going through life imagining Minase everywhere, the recognition without any real reaction, he just walks right past him resigned to the belief that Minase is gone from his life. Only when he turns back and looks again, does reality sink it. That's the moment you realize Hirukawa wasn't ignoring Minase the way it first seemed. The punch in the gut suddenly becomes something devastatingly painful for a completely different reason.
I am obsessed with this scene and could watch it a million times. The acting is perfection. You can see the moment Hirukawa realized Minase is actually standing in front of him. The eagerness and hesitation, hope and fear, all palpable as he steps towards him. I need to re-watch this series.

I'm having so many ideas and not enough energy to do or finish any of them AAAAAAAAAAAA-
Just so that I don't just wallow in my inability to get off my ass and do this shit, I'm going to type it all down!
1. The Haunted Mansion movie (done right!)
- This one is actually based on a slew of Discord convos between me and AJ (@sneklover). It was mostly just me ranting about how God awful Disney's live action remakes are getting and what I would've done if I were to make the iconic attraction a film or t.v. show.
- I have seen the original live action Haunted Mansion movie with Eddie Murphy but not the newest one, BUT MY POINT STILL STANDS! Both are literally the same thing where the story focuses more on the Foolish Mortals than the Happy Haunts and I do not like that.
- If I were to film a Haunted Mansion movie/show, I would make it an anthology horror movie. Think Tales From The Crypt or Creepshow but with Master Gracey telling the stories behind iconic characters such as the Hatbox Ghost, Constance Hatchaway, the two Dueling Ghosts in the ballroom, etc. At some point towards the end, Master Gracey would then tell his story, of how he inherited the mansion, was cursed as the Ghost Host by the mansion itself, and how he tried in vain to lift the curse.
- I remember telling my mom about my idea and, while she loved it, did say that Disney would not like it because they want to put out a more broad demographic. "They're not catering to us," she said (paraphrased). Which makes sense, I just jokingly mentioned to AJ how Disney wouldn't hire me for stuff like this lmao.
- My Haunted Mansion would be a love letter to the Gothic Horror genre and dark humor. An old Louisiana mansion that's haunted in more ways than one, its owner an unwilling slave on the brink of insanity, and all the tales of death kept within its walls. And these tales are nothing short of harrowing, as well as hilarious!
2. Vincent Price x Self-Insert Fanart
- I love this old man so fucking much I wanna kiss him I wanna dance with him I wanna cuddle with him I wanna slowly drive him into insanity so that I can see him smile lovingly at me I wanna be the harbinger of his downfall and his eternal bride aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa- 🖤🖤🖤😩🙌🥴🥴🥴
- So yeah, pretty much what it says on the tin. I was inspired by the very talented @theboarsbride for the idea and Corman's The Masque of the Red Death, starring the Handsome Devil of Horror himself Vincent Price, and wanted to make an AU.
- Masque AU where Francesca (the main character) does give in to the dark side, but of her own volition, transforming into the Red Death. The Red Death is both a Reaper and a Resurrection - a purveyor of plagues and a damsel turned demon. A Bride in Blood...
- It's basically a sort of rewrite of the original ending and now it's sorta... 🌶️spoicy🌶️ so, um.... yea. smexy monster lady x human stuffs.
- ANYWAYS...!
3. Walt Disney's The Great Mouse OC
- I've been wanting to do something with the GMD fandom for a long while now, and I think a hypothetical OC from an hypothetical sequel fanfic would be a good introduction!
- So, in a nutshell: She's a mad scientist spider who is the new secondary villain of said sequel. She has no name as of yet, but she is mute (either from an injury or is simply nonverbal), extremely passionate about her grotesque experiments, and very, very lonely. Unlike Ratigan, the Greatest Criminal Mind, she is more somewhat spontaneous, preferring the tasks of stitching her family together over anything tactic. In other words, she's the brawns while Ratigan is the brains (and brawns). Her goal in villainy is to build and destroy - to build her long lost family and to destroy all of micedom.
- While she is the one who caused the whole case, the main focus on the story is mainly the ✨tension✨ between Basil and Ratigan. In other words, opening up old wounds... by resurrecting the dead!
- Yup, Sherlock Holmes: Furry Edition is now becoming a Gothic horror story. Heavily inspired by Little Nightmares II, Jack the Ripper, and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, the sequel is a tale of murder and madness, with a bloodcurdling case and a rivalry that won't stay dead.
- In this fanfic, I interpreted that Ratigan did die in GMD and so that he could be resurrected by my OC in the sequel! I also wanted to have Fidget resurrected but AJ doesn't like to think of her lil guy dead, so... Yeah, Ratigan is the Frankenstein's Monster and Phantom of the Opera of the plot. (POTO because I thought of the sequel's climax being set during an opera)
- Meanwhile, Basil and Dawson are having a Very Bad Time, with Basil constantly being haunted by the professor and Dawson mentally reliving his days at the regiment.
- Disney will never hire me.

hello!
you said to ask about Chuubo’s so um, here I am!
I have pitched Chuubo’s to my primary playgroup and when the time opens up we’re going to at least start session zeroing a few arcs of Glass Dragon. Which leads me to my questions:
1: how long did the prep for your OneShot episode take? How does that compare to like, usual session zeroing?
2: the things my playgroup knows about Chuubo’s are a collection of my incoherent excited screeches about how cool/strange the world is, that it’s diceless, and that it’s roleplay heavy with a greater emphasis on knowing the ending then they’re used to. Two of my players are into it, one is hesitant, and my maybe player is politely resistant to premade characters with premade arcs. How would you suggest introducing the system to new players?
3: any general HGing tips?
This might be less “in the weeds” than you were hoping. I would love to discuss lore when I have a campaign properly going.
the oneshot podcast episodes were a project put together with a series of people who run, play, and design games for a living. putting together your first session with friends is going to have different prep time, prep needs for individual players, and different overall scaffolding. APs take a different manner of prep than RPG sessions played with friends. however: i planned the general premise of the campaign beforehand over the course of a week and made up new quests between sessions. i had a roughly hour-long session zero with the players before our first recorded episode. in a regular session with friends i'd probably take more time to get them acquainted with the world and read through their playbooks with them, probably with more hands-on examples of how to play, and i'd mostly stick to the quests in gmd rather than make up my own quests wholesale to start with.
for my part i try to introduce the setting, premise, and characters first, and only use a basic framework of mechanics for the first little while. let players focus on accumulating experience points (and literal experience) before throwing the whole kitchen sink at them. my general advice is give them their quests, and let them futz around taking XP actions and stumbling into quest goals and develop a dynamic with each other before throwing any real obstacles into the mix. let them play. if someone doesn't seem into it during session zero/session one, i don't know if you'll get them to pull through for a longform campaign.
talk out scenes beforehand. ask players what they want out of a given scene (characters they want involved, xp goals they want to hit, etc.) and provide scaffolding for it, and if they have no ideas, provide some options for them until they get the hang of coming up with scene ideas on their own. let players explore around and interact with the world. try to keep scenes 30 minutes long or shorter, if you can, to start with (scene bloat is real and preventable). it's okay to end a scene and then decide what kind of xp action it counted as after the fact. take lots of breaks. talk about what you liked about a scene after the fact, if that makes you feel good. keep things quick, light, and casual. this isn't an exam, you're not being graded. have fun.

This is for my tabletop RPG folks. I am in mourning for my Pathfinder group, and it is so painful. I am wondering if other people have had a similar experience.
I was in a group of friends that regularly played tabletop RPGs together - D&D, Numenera, long games and one-shots. There were two people who GMd, and they were both amazing storytellers and some of the best GMs I have ever had in my many hears of tabletop and live action gaming. We were roommates with one of them, I’ll call her R, and for the last year we had been playing a game with her, our other roomie, my partner, and the best GM ever, H. It was a pathfinder game, but set in the D&D Eberron setting. It was such a good game. H had worked with each of the players to create backstories that were complex and full of interesting trauma, and better yet connected to the main plot. I was only beginning to see how they all connected, and the ways that all of our player stories were intertwined. It felt like a novel - like our stories were inevitably twisted into a greater story within this world that we could not escape. I could see the complex plot coming together and I was SO EXCITED. The section of the story we were in, we were heading towards Stormreach, where my character was from. I was so ready for her trauma or people from her past to rear its head and force me to reveal her backstory to the rest of the party. I was so excited to see if the theories I had as a player about how it was all connected were correct.
But then things soured with the roommates. For our own emotional, mental, and physical safety my partner and I had to leave that house fast. And R did not take it well. I don’t want to go into the details, but it was horrible and messy, and R and a third roommate who was not part of the rpg group became strange and distant and iced us out.
The tabletop group fell apart. At first I was sure we would start playing again, once things calmed down and we all had some space from each other. But then I contacted H (they live out of state, so we have never met in person, and talk mostly over discord) And they completely ghosted me. I did not expect this. They are longtime friends with R, and I suppose she told them some story of what happened from her point of view, and made my partner and me out to be the villains. But I did not expect H to react this way. We are all in our 30s and 40s, and H is a very grounded, drama-free adult. Them just ghosting me is like a punch to the gut. Were we not also becoming friends? Did our game and our friendship mean so little to them?
The reason I am posting here is that my family and friends are sympathetic, but don’t seem to understand the depth of my mourning, except maybe my partner. It feels like a piece of my soul has been ripped away. It feels like someone taking a novel you were reading that was so good and you were so invested in out of your hands and burning it. Except you are also the author. And you will never be able to finish writing it, since you are a co-author. And the community, the friends, the sense of camaraderie, the monday nights you always looked forward to - gone. All gone.
I don’t know where I am going with this. I have played for years, but the loss of a group has never hit me this hard. I miss being my character every week, she was so cool. I miss the other party members, they felt like real people, like my friends, who I may never see again. And I miss the players behind them too. The greif of losing a party is so real. Monday nights are hard.

Bukharin, Stalin, China, Socialism
The Second Chinese Revolution of 1927 (as it is likely referred to only in Trotskyist historiography) is one whose story must be told, as it is the point when the prospects for revolutionary Marxism were subordinated to a non-Marxist peasant guerrilla movement led by Mao Zedong, and the rest is history, including the so-called "deformed workers' state" i.e. Stalinist-style bureaucratic regime that would eventually come to characterise "socialism with Chinese characteristics".
Specifically, what must be dealt with is the legacy of Bukharin, the man who is often credited with being one of the central influences, outside of a rediscovery of Marx and Engels' views on the Paris Commune, that drove Lenin's break from Kautskyan social-democracy on the question of the state in State and Revolution. For, at that point, Bukharin was a left-communist, who celebrated Lenin's recognition of his faction's views on the state and the need for a libertarian organizational form that would manifest in a "commune-state" basing itself on democratic workers' councils.
Bukharin and his left-communist faction would view Lenin's decision to go through with the Brest-Litovsk Treaty with Germany and around the same time, to suppress the "commune-state" and replace it with a dictatorship of the party (rather than the proletariat) as a profound betrayal. They would also proclaim this a betrayal of internationalism, claiming that the Bolsheviks should have used the situation to support revolutions in the territories ultimately conceded to Germany. They would not be alone in this, as the Left Socialist-Revolutionaries, a party that had until then been in coalition with the Bolsheviks, would exit the workers' state over this with a similar "internationalist" perspective on the treaty and launch a revolt, a revolt that would be brutally suppressed and eventually used as justification for the shift to a dictatorship of the party.
Of course, Bukharin would not remain a left-communist for long. With the introduction of the New Economic Policy in 1921, he would become a vocal advocate of this policy and begin his steady shift to the right, eventually culminating in his role as primary representative of the Right Opposition. Stalin, the supposed "centrist", would then align (after Lenin's death in 1924) with Bukharin in a rightward move and purge their shared enemies from the party, after which Bukharin and his fellow Right Oppositionists would themselves be purged when Stalin, as Trotskyists would have it, "zigzagged" to the left and began adopting elements of the Left Opposition's program, only dropping the crucial element of restoration of workers' council democracy (i.e. the "commune-state") and pursuing these elements with no attempt to build democratic support for them among the workers and peasants, and in fact forcing them on the masses in a brutal and totalitarian manner.
In 1911, a bourgeois revolution had overthrown the Qing dynasty in China, but the emerging regime (led by the bourgeois party the Guomindang or GMD) had failed to unite the country or throw off the yoke of British and Japanese imperialism. In terms of the state, this led to a military dictatorship, and in terms of foreign policy, to diplomatic agreements with the British and Japanese, and eventually, an acceptance of the Treaty of Versailles ceding German possessions in China to Japan. In a vindication of Trotsky's theory of Permanent Revolution, the nationalist bourgeoisie of a country under imperialist domination had proved incapable even of delivering on the demands of democracy and anti-imperialism.
Versailles sparked off the May Fourth movement in 1919 that protested against Japanese imperialism and the government's weak response. The example of Russia led Marxism to spread among the Chinese masses, as they saw, in line with the theory of Permanent Revolution, that defeating feudalism and imperialism required overthrowing capitalism and fighting for socialism, as the nationalist bourgeoisie would align with imperialism rather than fighting against it. Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao of the New Culture movement were two leading Marxists who helped popularize Marxism among the Chinese masses.
The Comintern would work alongside them to facilitate the formation of a party in China as an internationalist revolutionary workers' party (the Chinese Communist Party) committed to a dictatorship of the proletariat and ruling out alliances with the bourgeois GMD.
Enter Stalinism. In 1922, as imperialism continued to threaten China, the CCP would form an anti-imperialist united front with the GMD, where unity would be shown on the question of imperialism but the CCP would remain independent and build support among the masses for its continued existence as a working-class Marxist party representing the interests of the toiling masses.
Except, in the same period, the Stalinist bureaucracy was growing in influence within the Comintern and forcing the CCP to slowly abandon key elements of its program. This culminated in GMD leader Sun Yat-sen demanding the CCP dissolve itself into the GMD to "further" the united front.
Enter Bukharin, former "internationalist", left-communist and advocate of a "commune-state". Except now, Bukharin was firmly in the Right Opposition and helping Stalin transform the Comintern from a facilitator of an international socialist revolution to an instrument of the USSR's foreign policy. In early 1923, Stalin and Bukharin would force through a motion in the Politburo of the CPSU, based on a farcical interpretation of the CCP's 1922 resolution regarding the united front, to argue that the CCP should in fact dissolve itself. Trotsky would be the only opposing vote against this motion.
The CCP would fiercely oppose this, but under the threat of Comintern discipline, would be forced to dissolve itself into the GMD. Under the absolute authority of Stalin and Bukharin, the Comintern bureaucracy was committed to a stageist theory of revolution: a bourgeois revolution to establish a bourgeois democracy (a phase in which the communists would have to subordinate themselves to the bourgeoisie), followed by a socialist revolution set conveniently at some far-off point in the future. This assigned the GMD the leading role in any future revolutionary process and additionally dealt a massive blow to the CCP, as the Stalinist bureaucracy provided the GMD with essential military funding.
The next few years were characterized by the CCP working to organize the masses even as the Comintern provided all its support to the GMD. From 1925 to 1926, as the threat of foreign imperialism grew, the CCP led large sectors of a strike wave in factories under foreign ownership, and the masses under their leadership developed a more advanced class consciousness and grew in strength, threatening GMD hegemony.
In possibly the biggest farce of all in this period, the Comintern had inducted the *bourgeois* GMD as an honorary member organisation in 1926, while also directing the CCP to stop workers from forming soviets (democratic workers' councils) in order to preserve this alliance with the GMD. This was a consequence of the Comintern's abandonment of socialist internationalism and adaptation to Stalin and Bukharin's theory of "socialism in one country" which misused the failures of world revolution (especially the defeat of the German Revolution in 1919 and 1923) to argue for the preservation of the Soviet state at all costs, even if it meant alliances with bourgeois sectors to maintain "peace". In China, this meant an alliance with the much larger GMD even as it suppressed the growth of the Chinese communist movement.
As the strike wave grew and the CCP and GMD moved closer to outright confrontation, Trotsky began campaigning for the communists to leave the GMD, as they were being subjected to increasing restrictions by the GMD leadership.
The consequences of Stalin's forcing of CCP subordination to the GMD would lead to the debilitating defeat suffered by the CCP in the Second Chinese Revolution of 1927. In April 1927, thousands of workers in Shanghai launched a general strike against Japanese imperialism and formed bodies of working-class self-organisation. General Chiang Kai-shek of the GMD, perceiving this as a threat, ordered the launch of a bloody suppression of the workers and the CCP membership in a period known as the White Terror, where communists and workers sympathetic to communism were hunted down across China, detained, executed, or disappeared.
The Stalinist bureaucracy then forced the CCP to take more adventurist steps, all of which were ruthlessly suppressed by the GMD. In the aftermath, committed Marxists like Chen Duxiu and others would form the Chinese Left Opposition as a section of the Fourth International. But the remaining membership of the CCP would retreat to the countryside and join Mao Zedong, who decided it would be the peasantry and not the proletariat that would be the revolutionary subject of the inevitable revolution, a non-Marxist political choice that, along with other non-Marxist political choices taken subsequently, would lead to the bureaucratic dictatorship established in China in 1949.
Bukharin's role in the demise of the Chinese Revolution cannot be overstated, an ignominious role for a man who was once an advocate for a "commune-state" yet was part of the Stalinist bureaucracy when it directed the CCP to stop workers from forming democratic workers' councils (the basis of any "commune-state"), was an "internationalist" to the point of rejecting Brest-Litovsk yet helped construct the theory of "socialism in one country" and consequent to it advocate for the CCP to subordinate itself to the GMD, was once on the left of the Bolshevik party yet committed to the non-Marxist theory of stageist revolution and helped destroy the CCP's class independence. Of course, Stalin was the source of all this, and yet Bukharin played a role that has been often overlooked.
Socialism in China, genuine socialism, was pushed off the political stage forever in 1927, and what reigned in its stead began with denying the revolutionary role of the proletariat.

I did this because I find it baffling how the Persona dance models seem to have 0 head and face bones but bodies have all bones
Tumblr media Tumblr media
which is understandable but at the same time ridiculous since they're making faces in and out of dancing mode. Note: these are the original .gmd models, not MMD ones I've tried another dump somebody here on Tumblr did and WukiWakoto's models @ deviantart (which aren't in mmd format and for some reason they didn't have the head models as well...?)
does anybody know the reason for this? I am mystified. I tried looking up the problem but all i got was everybody going oooo and ahhh in awe over the quality of the models. or just a listing on where each model is located

Hi I adored your chilchuck/marcille fanfic, "grind me down sweetly", that was so lovely!! i ate it up with like no hesitation! i was wondering if you were considering writing more of them? thank you so much for all your work and thank you for sharing it with us!
First of all thank you so so much!! Every nice word and kudos mean the world to me, and for rarepairs they're all the more cherished 💖 And yes anon, I absolutely do plan on making more for them! As much as I can manage, a library's worth if possible. They're my absolute Dungeon Meshi OTP and Dunmeshi’s been my obsession for like 10 months now, I'm a huge shipper & I love making fancontent and yeahh it's not stopping anytime soon. Though I am a slow writer... And I really should get around to finishing my older non-dunmeshi wips too 😫
I’ve talked about marchil fanfic prompts/wips a couple times on here, and very recently even about a sequel to Grind Me Down Sweetly actually! The fic’s a lot about having a familiar routine with someone and sort of growing used to that, to knowing someone like that and with sharing his days and his living space with someone again, about growing open to the idea that maybe just maybe he and Marcille could have something in the first place. And it’s kept pretty platonic due to that and whatnot, but I recently thought that, since the arc of him becoming more aware and open to the relationship got done in GMDS, doing a sequel where we actually see the relationship grow more romantic would be cute!! Warming up to the romantic nature of their relationship like settling down into a cozy couch. And this time rather than coffee it’ll be centered around what all the best cafes have… Cats!
Gonna summarize the concepts of some of my marchil fic wips under the cut, if you’d rather go in blind when they… Eventually get written, then you can just stop here and safely be assured that I am 100% planning on writing more for them! Oh, btw I also take prompts and requests, though I can’t promise anything.
Alright so GMDS sequel: I think in canon both Marcille and Chilchuck have a special dynamic with Izutsumi, where they care after her, not unlike Senshi but with more feelings attached. With her traveling around, I feel like every once in a while they’d talk about her, dealing with the worry and the uncertainty. Marcille is like "My fragile baby bird out into the world… She needs to at least live to be 100 years old 😭" while Chil knows how it’s like and just trusts her to be alright, like with Puckpatti. And so!! Every time she sees a stray cat while strolling out her heart pangs… There are many strays in Chilchuck’s neighborhood, and with her pushing for it they start leaving some food out for them. At one point she sees one standing out in the rain all pitifully in front of Chil’s shop and she invites it in (to Chilchuck’s despair), and from then on it’s still a stray but it has a home to go back to… Until Marcille officially adopts it. And it can showcase Marcille and Chil’s growing relationship alongside that metaphorically, where she sorta moves in and they grow more boldly affectionate, and it’s like… Domesticating love… 😌 Man didn’t want a cat, a cat daughter nor a new lover, but they took a liking to him and were stubborn about getting close to him and now there they all are. I like to say that post-canon despite Chil living alone in his shop he gets a second family of clingy asses, and this is exactly what I mean. Vibe wise I’d like it to have that cozy energy of spending a slow afternoon at a nice quiet cafe on a rainy day, but we’ll see how I manage it! It’s not the highest on my writing priorities currently though.
Other marchil fic ideas I’ve talked about are… Following them on that time pre-canon where they went to shop for a pouch together would be cute. I have a long post talking about them being sick and caring for each other would be like and that’d make a fun whump fic too. He gets sick and she dotes on him, she indulges herself and kisses him anyways, and then of course he passes it on to her right as he gets better so then it’s her turn getting taken care of hehe.
This one’s more convoluted, so either Marcille invites him to a fancy social event at the castle as her plus-one (aka emotional support) maybe already dating maybe on the verge of confessing, OR they’re already dating and then Marcille’s mom visits them and it’s very sweet and maybe marriage talks happens~, but in both cases Chilchuck is going through SO much stress. Just Chilchuck’s heart being on the absolute edge of giving out, going through the five stages of grief over the banquet not having his favorite kind of alcohol and Marcille not letting him be an ornamental plant in the corner of the room and doing the bare minimum. Or having to engage with her mom and seeming worthy of being her lover as his shit is only barely pulled together after they hurry to ready his house to host her as a guest. And I have a bunch of wips where I tackle them properly doing a confession or a proposal… I was planning on making a comic about it even. Here’s a lil taste of them talking about getting into a relationship together~
Tumblr media
And you know what, here are some new exclusive ones I hadn’t shared yet that I’d really like to get around to making
Tumblr media
In the meantime if you want I have a ton of analysis and headcanon posts about marchil on this blog, and fanarts here, and @fumiku is my fanfic blog with updates + for fanfic related asks (which rarely gets used rip).
I have non-marchil dunmeshi fanfics I want to prioritize too, but idk idk I’ll see what I end up getting around to… I like having a new vision to offer with each fic, so I tend to prioritize fics that take a new angle for the same ship or tackle different characters and themes, so I can see myself pushing myself to do other stuff before falling back into my marchil comfort zone.

Bleh. Not really tagging I need to un-blorbify Ryoshu in my head but also, I want to be selfish and keep thinking self shipping thoughts. What a hassle. I already tell people that I write her or characterize her too nice. That is my bias, (not that I am writing anything at all even, its all just imaginary again) and what have you. The rest of this post is more about my thoughts on what I've read about the book Violence: A Writers Guide by Roy Miler, and vaugly rambling.
I have a pdf of the book, Violence: A Writers Guide. I still haven't set the time off to read it because I am infamous for managing time and acting on impulse. Anyways.
Tumblr media
I feel when people do dislike Ryoshu or just see her as only sadistic murderer, they are here. I guess. Contrary to the name, I can understand why people not like Ryoshu. Honestly, as long as she continues to be written well, I will keep loving her even if her views don't align with mine. I'm prepared for if Ryoshu turns out to be the greatest artist of all the lands but ends up not the greatest mother. Hard to vocalize but you can dearly love your child so, so much, but activly be hurting them. I never want that to be forgotten because LOVE itself is a double edged sword. Never the end all be all. To open youself up to others and to live loved and loving means opening yourself up to getting hurt or hurting them. Someone else who has more life experience then I do, more experince with living, and one who is more sure of themselves could explain it better. I am not in the right place. Oh, but it is still varying from person to person, as lot of things dealing with humans tend to do.
Its too late to be typing so much but, from what section of this i've read are the levels of agression as followed: Nice, Manipulative, Assertive, Agressive, Assaultive, and Murderous. Nice are pacifist who don't use any agression. Manipulative takes advantage of nice people by passivly getting their way (maybe think blackmail or just good 'ol manipulation.) Assertive will set bounderies and use soft power to inforce those boundaries, Agressive will make threats of violence and yell out (think heavy verbal abuse.). Assultive will actually hit the aggressive person and feel justified about it. Murderous is just good ol murder.
Ryoshu is murderous but all the people on that bus have to be knocked down to the assultive level by default. They can't activly go around murder hoboing all the time. Outis is the only other sinner who I'd put in murderous because she can openly advocates like a professional. To quote the book, "A professional does not fight you, doesn’t even think about fighting you. He takes you out." And I think that fits Outis well if she weren't just stuck to Dante. Or I'm overestimating Outis' capabilities. Meursalt just doesn't apply to this scale at all. He is a special case that just does as hes told with little to no fuss. Hes not suggesting murder but he'll just do it if hes told. Even if hes not told, even before the bus, I still haven't read his book but come on. We kind of know the sun in the eyes thing.
Side Tangent: Hong Lu, Gregor and Yi Sang are in assertive. Hong Lu, im skeptical about because he is confusing. I have no idea what's going on in his brain, he has lived in an enviornment of high violence probably while being in a Nest which is strange. He just acts so care free, but there's something else there. We all know. Sinclair is just being forced gradually up there to assultive. Yi Sang has been persecuted but violence is not his first answer to things. Even if Gregor was in the Smoke War as a war veteran, his attitude does not strike me as assultive because he tries to talk things out, he was more of a PR boy, and what his bug arm does unvoulentarily is diffrent from what Gregor himself wants to do. Sinclair just keeps going from agrressive to assaultive, then to murderous with Kromer. He's developing and breaking out of his shell so he really isn't set.

I'm going to bed but
GMD: Not Limbus but uninvited guest in uhh Library Of Ruina
EBD: Virgilius and Don Quinnote scene. Virgillius just to any sinner. Maybe N Corp and Kromer and Sinclair to teach Sinclair a lesson. Uh. Erliking Heathcliff to Heathcliff roughly.
SSS: Anything sydicate related honestly.
Predatory Violence is just The City. It's just the way of the City, at least the areas outside the Nest.
There is a lot more intresting stuff in this book. Maybe when I decide to read more, ill just screw around I guess. uh. Thank for reading.

During the early months of the Ontario Government's experminental GO Transit commuter operation, GP40TC 606 heads up an eastbound commuter train bound for Pickering, seen departing Scarborough GO Station and about to cross the St. Clair Avenue East grade crossing. Commuters and auto traffic patiently wait for the train to clear the multiple-track mainline crossing on CN's busy Kingston Subdivision (a grade separation here would follow a decade later). What we know today as the sprawling GTHA train and bus commuter operator GO Transit was initially launched as a single line (the Lakeshore line, from Oakville to Pickering), run by eight specially-built GMD GP40TC commuter locomotives, an order of 40 single-level commuter cars built by Hawker Siddeley Canada, and nine self-propelled versions intended to handle lighter runs and off-peak service. All of this was envisioned as a forward-thinking trial service by the government of the day to help curb the effects of congestion due to current and future projections of growing automobile traffic coming in and out of downtown Toronto. Its success, coupled with growing suburban sprawl popping up around Toronto, would result in the beginning of a new bus network three years later, and launches of multiple new commuter lines and expansions over the decades that followed. i don’t know if i want to main-tag this because i have no interest in fighting with disney adults or rabid shippers or w/e but since i’m on the topic, fidget is just… really treated badly by the GMD fandom in general. his presence is just Erased or he’s reduced to being a non-person who doesn’t get to say or do much beyond lingering in the background in fics. when he IS involved, i’ll sometimes see people infantilizing him (as if he isn’t shown drinking, going to burlesque shows or implied to be a hired killer). it would be one thing if he was just a funny side character but he does play a very active and prominent role in the film. his presence is integral to ratigan getting what he wants/needs, they clearly have Some kind of relationship even if it’s just a working one… and people just. idk. they cannot be bothered with fidget and as someone who found him to be one of the most endearing and compelling characters in TGMD it makes me sad

Since my shirt is once again going around: I am very much looking forward to being able to post about Chuubo’s when my campaign ends. Unfortunately engaging too closely with the community right now makes me absolutely insane. I can’t cope with my own ideas, the ideas I glean through a deliberately cursory glance into fanart tags and comprehensive discussion with other people who have active GMD campaigns and are making wildly different choices. The scope of GMD is so expansive that I have to draw the line somewhere. My level of preparations for this game already border on “mildly to moderately obsessive”.

playing around with the idea of reviving alex and co., mostly in the context of that guangdong state id designed actually getting sent to TNO and replacing the real guangdong. alex, of course, joins the NPA and the 3rd united front, and then postwar china content essentially has him join CPC and replay PRC history with alterations as required.
if he really succeeds well he can convince gao (bc fuck the rework) to join the 3UF, and from there the secret army and the work of the five modernisations are theirs to control. it leads to a much rougher political climate later on stopping him from his and the CPC's vision, but its really just trading earlier military challenges for later political ones.
we'll work with this as the assumption: zhujiang has superb preparation and gao has joined the 3UF. it is now headed by long yun, alex/zhanhe and gao. in the postwar period, long yun dies and gao retires from politics, feeling like he has no real political place in the new china (although alex/zhanhe can call him up again later). the political fights are really between GMD and CPC as in OTL, except there shall be no civil war with japan still looming across the sea. the GMD starts with a big advantage, of course, having the warlords and the reformists from the RGOC; the CPC has its strong points as well, though.
zhanhe succeeds and wrests power. he assembles another group of colleagues: himself, deng xiaoping (heavily inferred in one of the last events for the NPA), song qingling, reminder for myself to do research. they transform china into the unitary socialist republic because strong KMT is not allowed. then we have a lot of adaptations to OTL policies caused by the geopolitical situation of china's waters being entirely surrounded by the GEACPS (so, air, socialist russia if applicable, perhaps even india). build up industry, get a proper economy, go back to the countryside. you know how it is. here we thank heaven that this is a fanfic and not a submod because this took decades irl

Staring: Daou Pittaya & Offroad Kantapon
When San tragically loses the woman he loves, he will do anything to be reunited with her, even if it means spending the next 100 years in agony waiting for her to be reincarnated. But when signs point to his lost love being reincarnated as a man, San's outdated beliefs get in the way of finding happiness.
What happens when you hold on to love too tightly? What is the cost when we refuse to say goodbye? Is being alive the same as living? How can we heal when we keep reliving the wounds of the past? This series is excellent and complex and gets better the more you think about it. In addition to having a great story and characters, Century of Love is visually stunning and well acted. Highly recommend this series.

Ending: 😍🥰 We loved the ending they chose for this story and thought it was perfect.
Tears: Yep. Lots. Get ready for some pain. And once you're about half way through the series, if you need to stop watching any time soon to life/adult, we recommend doing it any time there is the slightest opportunity because it's going to be a roller coaster.
Main Couple: Queer
Romance Scenes: The sweetest, most desperately loving spice.
Flavor of Scenes: vanilla
Heads up: outdated/traditional thinking & homophobia, death/loss, violence, gun shots, stabbing
