the fact that shakespeare was a playwright is sometimes so funny to me. just the concept of the "greatest writer of the English language" being a random 450-year-old entertainer, a 16th cent pop cultural sensation (thanks in large part to puns & dirty jokes & verbiage & a long-running appeal to commoners). and his work was made to be watched not read, but in the classroom teachers just hand us his scripts and say "that's literature"
just...imagine it's 2450 A.D. and English Lit students are regularly going into 100k debt writing postdoc theses on The Simpsons screenplays. the original animation hasn't even been preserved, it's literally just scripts and the occasional SDH subtitles.txt. they've been republished more times than the Bible
i've been waiting for gravity falls to become relevant again so i could share one of my favorite underrated bits from the entire show. like it's only episode 2 but this whole segment just makes me lose my shit. i think jason ritter's exasperated line delivery is what makes it

want someone who has trouble sleeping to use me as a sleeping aide. tire yourself out by fucking a load or two into me, then keep me as a cockwarmer to lazily thrust into as you drift off to sleep
genuinely curious: do other places have billboards like these? because it took me until i was 22 to realize they might not be ubiquitous everywhere because being regularly told i was going to hell by random billboards on road-trips was just my memento mori as a kid like they don’t anything by it
