This is for @bluepeachstudios ‘s Ghost in a Shell. It’s really good you should read it.
I looked at exactly one picture of Jupiter Jim and went “yeah this should be enough to draw him.” I will not be answering if it actually was
Have some bonus content under the cut!
And sketches
(I love any character who can say “I don’t want to go back to prison” it’s like the funniest thing to me)
#i don’t know what compelled me to hand write that text. it’s not very good#we just don’t do things the easy way here. that’s why I render with an app on my phone. i don’t believe in simplicity#i had a plan for a lot more full body shots but then I couldn’t find any good lair references so I decided to screw it#I’ve never drawn rise characters before. this is my first time drawing them and expressions wow#I’m not very good at style copying and my default is so much rounder than rise is so that was just a woof#i should say all text in these shit posts aren’t canon at all. you can figure out where they likely take place yes#but they never show up in story#just a little fyi incase anyone decides to check it out#the entire inspiration for this post was just watching 2003 and going#WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY DID THAT??#ghost causally dropping the most wild facts about his life has like endless shit post potential#yeah I went to space. stole a ship. went to jail. aided a fugitive. held a dictator at gunpoint#and folks that’s just one arc. go watch 2003#i debated making angst as it is likely more currently topical but I’m a shit poster at heart#chapter 29. how we feeling boys? I’m actually doing rather well. i think just the fact the build up is over and I’m so tired I no longer#have emtions I’m just pumped for the next chapter whoo!#i started to lose mojo very fast while doing this but I wanted to finish today so I did. i hope it’s not too obvious#yeah anyways go read ghost in a shell#go watch 2003#go read ghost in a shell#i’m gonna go to bed now#ghost in the shell#teenage mutant ninja turtles#tmnt 2003#tmnt 2018#fan fiction recommendations#fan art of a fan fic#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#teenage mutant ninja turtles 2003

DUDE THIS CW CHAPTER IS FUCKING ME IN THE ASS RN WHY IS THERE NOTHING ON MY OUTLINE .... its okay the adhd pulled me elsewhere and i pruned the www outline so things are more compact/coherent (im excited). ANYWAYS SORRY IF THIS NEXT UPDATE IS SLOW TO COME OUT HRKKK
#personal#47 chapters instead of 52 now!#mostly because povs are mikey and donnie like exclusively#but there are three exceptions for raph april and leo. “interludes”#and theyre chapters that i want to be long and full of plot so i condensed some stuff#actually now that i think of it i could put a really important scene at the end of april's interlude....#id just have to cut out a mikey chapter in the middle :(#might be a good thing actually. it reveals something i could choose to keep a mystery instead#MIGHT BE 46 INSTEAD YALL SORRY#im excited for where we went wrong have i mentioned it yet .....#ill probably go for a 4k per chapter minimum but they could get a lot longer than that i feel#NOT excited to write the first chapter though. like donnie and leo's introductions are really funny and stupid but pretty much recapping-#-canon events with small differences is a little bluh#thats why the plot takes a HARD turn after act 1 ngl... youll see#doing more with shredder as a threat#EDIT ITS 44

Ok. TRT business and a question, cause I need feedback from readers at this point.
First: the final chapter of the Raven What If fic should be posted this week, I'm about done editing it. The bigger, much more important question: So I have a potential chapter for tomorrow. I've been worrying and fretting over posting it, not because I think it's bad, but because it's short by TRT standards, currently around 2k words, and it both frustrates me and makes me feel weirdly guilty at the thought of dropping what's so much less than my usual. I'm used to being able to write longer chapters, being able to squeeze everything I want into them, and I have a literal outline of this goddamn chapter that has this good stuff in it and I know what needs to be written. I can see it right there. The movie is playing in my head just fine. But the truth of it is, my writing is slow at the moment thanks to post-covid brain fog. I'm checking in with my doctor, I've started taking specific supplements (which I'm hoping to see results from in the next few weeks), I'm clawing my way back bit by bit, but I continue to write slowly, mostly because I either can't focus or I have to stop every few sentences to struggle with a word I can't remember. It's incredibly frustrating. The thing is though, at least I *am* writing, which gives me hope. But this is where you - the readers - come in. Because right now we have two possible paths for updates going forward for a bit. Option 1: Longer gaps between our usual chapters. If we go this road, it'll take longer but as I chip away, I'll eventually have the full planned chapter, which I'd post. This would be a chapter closer to what we've had most weeks for the past oh god like 2 years. At current speed I'd drop it in a few weeks, and then hopefully the next one would come a little faster, until eventually we're back to our usual. So basically, you'd get your big chunks when the updates do come, and the same natural endpoints and arcs as before. Drawback is obviously the time between updates, so you won't be fed as often (though I'd try to find things in my editing folder to clean up and drop, like the Raven fic).
Option 2: Shorter chapters but more regular updates. If we go this road, we'd be back to weekly updates of our adventures with Matt and Jane. There'd just be less than usual for a bit and then, hopefully as I improve, you'll see the word count begin to climb back up. So in this case, you'd be getting a weekly dose of TRT, the usual fluff and angst and action, but the catch is less overall to read (likely individual scenes rather than multiples), and potentially sudden endpoints/more cliffhangers as I 'end' at what was outlined as a scene change.
Which way I go will mostly depend on ya'll tbh. I think I can make either work, since I've managed to start writing a little again and I really, really am hoping the supplements help. But since this'll potentially alter the update schedule we've had for years, I wanted to see which you'd prefer.
So, Option One - longer gaps but long chapters - or Option Two - shorter chapters weekly. Which would you prefer?
#the red thread#i have been so gd frustrated. like it doesn't help my meds and other illnesses ALREADY cause brain fog#now i have this shit#where i can literally see in my head what needs to happen but words no go for long time#and i've gotten so used to long TRT chapters that i've been fighting the guilt over the idea of shorter chapters#so i figured i'd check in because if ya'll are actually fine with that then i'd feel better about it#alternatively i just keep plucking away and eventually drop the full length chapter#i feel like the feedback for whichever way we go will help me settle and not feel bad about longer gaps/shorter chapters#in the meantime i'm doing what i can. following doctor's orders and taking my supplements#along with writing in little chunks and editing to see if that can help me retrain whatever's been fucked up basically#so. option 1 or option 2?

Slowly discovering the freeing power of the words "I know this is bad but I'll fix it in editing."
#bjk talks#bjk writing rambles#more rambly diary thinking out loud lol don't mind me#i really am starting to feel like very slowly i am actually learning to be a better writer from all this fic stuff#in addition to producing Feels#slash actually starting to develop a writing process rather than just kind of word-spewing#i really hope the end beat of this chap has the impact i want bc it is taking considerable leadup to get there XD#but i'm starting to hit a rhythm of getting some done each day without burning myself out#and focusing on producing a draft that can then be molded#it's challenging because my brain wants the quick dopamine hit of finishing and publishing#rather than focusing on the intermediate steps#tbh this is probably a big part of why longfic has intimidated me up to this point XD#anyway for anyone following along i think i'm about 3/4 done with OYE chapter 4#it's turning out longer than i expected#HOPING to have a full draft to spend time editing this weekend but we'll see#after all this rambling about it the actual chapter is probably gonna be anticlimactic but it helps keep me motivated XD#</ramble>

i'm halfway through chapter 6 (of a planned 15) of this fic and actively fighting the urge every minute to start posting it already
#posting a wip with more than three chapters has never ever gone as planned#i always end up taking super long hiatuses#but then again this fic is already longer than anything i've got published#and i've written all of it in two weeks and have a full outline#so maybe i'm a different person now who can post a wip and stick to a posting schedule?#ie a better person#i'm telling myself now to finish at least chapter 10 first though lmao#we'll see how long my self-control holds out

Fic Author Self-Rec!
Been tagged by @foibles-fables and @finrays, thank you so much guys!!!
The Rules: Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Spread the self-love ❤️
Might find some of the usual suspects among these, plus some Dragon Age because my urge to dive back into Thedas is growing with each passing day, as well as the panic that I might have mislaid my notes for both A Little Faith and As They Slept for good, which would be a goddamn waste because I really, really want to finish those two some day. Well. Not today, anyway. Here you go:
Transposition (Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West, T, 6.6k words)
There's not enough Banuk content in HFW if you ask me, and certainly not enough Ikrie, so here's me attempting to change it. While giving Aloy the stern talking-to about her constant running that she desperately needs.
Delineation (Horizon Zero Dawn, T, 5.4k words)
A project that has been very close to my heart for years. I've always been fascinated by Ikrie's and Mailen's relationship as it is portrayed by the game, and since we only see the very end of it, I've never quite stopped wondering: what came before? This fic is my take on it. Also featuring a metric (bs)-ton of Banuk headcanons that may or may not make any sense at all.
Linger (Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West, T, 5.7k words)
Aloy working up the courage to ask Ikrie to leave the Frozen Wilds with her and follow her into the unknown. The second fic I wrote for Horizon, and my first one ever in present tense. It was absolutely not meant to be Aloy's goodbye tour before leaving for the Forbidden West, nor was it supposed to feature Talanah that heavily, but some things just happen and some characters just insert themselves into my fics sometimes. It will happen again.
Latency (Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West, T, 1.9k words)
Essentially a sister fic to Linger, from Ikrie's perspective. A few moments of reflection before the truth.
His Word (Dragon Age Inquisition, T, 5k words)
A somewhat late/post-Trespasser examination of my Inquisitor Having Had It™. With Veilguard just around the corner, I'm curious to see how the brainworms that lead to this one's existence will hold up in canon. (Also, writing Solas is still. A challenge.)
Not sure who is left to tag, so gonna take the easy way out here: if you see this and want to do it, consider me your tagger!
#the good thing about me having two weeks off now#and planning to spend one of them getting my flat back into order#means i can go looking for those notes#i remember having those two fics fully plotted out#and to some degree they're also written#as they slept has a full segment from the perspective of a tree#i was pretty drunk writing that one but it holds up well#and well. i remember the next chapter of a little faith being one i was really proud of while writing#but it's not finished yet and i haven't looked at it in years so idk#we'll see#there's also disintegration which is another bit about mailen and ikrie#but that will probably take even longer#tag game#writing

So I've been thinking... I have about 85% of the beginning of the demo done, and by that I mean the prologue is finished and all but one section of the character creation is fully written, which is the start of the first chapter. You can then meet and interact with Kaine for a little while, and then it reaches a relatively good place to break off the scene. My thoughts are, should I finish and then upload this section of the demo as is, so you guys can play what's there and start to get a feel for the story, or should wait until the first chapter is fully written? I can't quite decide.
#the full first chapter would be several intricate scenes longer and will take a while... so...#please let me know what you think!! itd help me a lot#aevum.txt

sighs in contentment......
#shut up danni's talking#hi yes i always feel happy as FUCK when i read a v long fic but doubly so when i realise that i caught up before the end#i have spend idk how long maybe 4/5 days reading a 700k+ word fic#w only two more chapters left and i just. oh BOY#i cannot even begin to get into all the details i adore about this fic#and yes i am absolutely talking abt mortified#i spent the majority of the time listening to it via text to speech while playing mindless games#but when i got to the parts i hadn't read before (like the last 50 chaps i think) i had to give it my full attention#i just. there is so much i love.#it just adds so many aspects of world building that feels so right that its almost unnatural when i see things that goes against it#i just.#also theres no shortage of pride in there too bc wow 700k words in under a week? deffo good#HOWEVER my goal w listening to it rather than reading was hopefully something that'd take longer#considering how i read faster than it takes to speak things alas i'll have to wait for chapters again which is weird#i have been behind on it for so long#i have this mega word doc summarising the fic that i was working on to help me keep up w plot threads#and im not joking abt the mega its mammoth and i gave up in parts#i'll probs work on it as i reread it again at some point#its deffo smth i'm gonna share when its done bc i it is LONG and i know ppl don't have as much time as i do#but i want the opportunity for ppl to not balk at the size of the fic to not even attempt to read it#or if they want to read it but can only read a chapter a day so they'll need a reminder#one of the things i'll always be thankful for in fanfics is when ppl bookmark fics with a summary of the plot#its just. its reassuring to me to know vaguely what's going to happen#esp bc some plot elements will always instantly call to me#i can't begin to tell you how many fics i've ebbed and erred on but were ultimately swayed by bookmarkers' summaries#also i like to reread seconds of fics if i don't reread the whole thing#so knowing where those sections are located is v v helpful#anyways thats my lil fan project for mortified lol#always get a lil flustered when i interact w the author bc WOW the skill????? the dedication??? always a lil in awe#now to zone out and stare at my ceiling trying to process that masterpiece

not as ahead on fics for this month as i'd hoped to stay - i've got something already done for tomorrow, but yesterday and today i didn't finish stuff, so i'm only that singular day ahead.
hoping to get further ahead - or at least to STAY that day ahead - but. we'll. see. ><
#musings#bandit writes fic#december banditnanza 2023#i think i should be able to finish the random fic i just started#and /maybe/ the next chapter for#viv westview fic#that one...was my main focus for a bit but the thing about chapters is that they require more word count than a lot of these shorter prompt#answers so like - i could sometimes finish two prompts or a one-shots in the time it takes me to write a full chapter#(sometimes more depending)#so it's...yeah#i need to answer prompts and get more days in the back#before i jump into another chapter#(like finishing up thrall)#(which...i need to sit on a little bit longer anyway)

Pluto + rebirth
Pluto, often called the planet of transformation, is all about change, power, death, and rebirth. When it shows up in different areas of your birth chart (or during a transit), it’s like a cosmic signal that something in your life is about to go through a deep, intense shift.
Pluto in the 1st house
When Pluto's in your 1st house, you might feel like you’re going through a personal makeover—inside and out. It’s all about reinventing yourself and shedding old layers of identity to step into a more powerful version of who you really are. Imagine someone who’s always struggled with self-confidence suddenly gaining a sense of inner strength. Maybe they start working out, change their appearance, or embrace a new attitude that completely shifts how the world sees them.
Pluto in the 2nd house
Pluto in the 2nd house can shake up your finances and challenge what you consider important. This could mean a financial crisis that forces you to rethink how you make and save money—or even a total shift in your sense of self-worth. Think of someone who loses their job unexpectedly. At first, it’s tough, but it leads them to pursue a passion project or start their own business, completely changing their relationship with money and success.
Pluto in the 3rd house
Pluto in the 3rd house works on your mindset. It can bring up old fears or communication patterns that no longer serve you, forcing you to express yourself more authentically and powerfully.Maybe you’ve always held back in conversations, avoiding conflict. But with Pluto’s influence, you could have a breakthrough, learning to speak your truth in a way that’s both honest and empowering.
Pluto in the fourth house
In the 4th house, Pluto focuses on home, family, and deep emotional roots. You might experience changes in your living situation or power dynamics within your family. These changes, though intense, can lead to greater emotional resilience.Someone might move out of a childhood home, or a family rift could heal after years of tension. This marks the beginning of a new chapter where the family is stronger, even if it had to go through some tough moments.
Pluto in the fifth house
Pluto’s influence here pushes you to explore creativity or romantic relationships in a deeper, more intense way. It’s about shedding superficial connections or creative blocks and tapping into something more raw and authentic. Picture someone ending a toxic relationship that wasn’t allowing them to fully be themselves. Once free, they dive into their passions—maybe they start painting or writing again—and they find their creativity is reborn.
Pluto in the 6th house
Pluto in the 6th house brings a shift in your daily routines, work habits, and even health. You could face a health scare or burnout that forces you to overhaul how you take care of yourself. Someone who’s been overworking might be forced to slow down after a health crisis. This leads them to adopt a healthier work-life balance and discover a new way of living that feels more sustainable and rewarding.
Pluto in the 7th house
When Pluto is in the 7th house, relationships take center stage. You might go through a breakup or power struggles, but ultimately, it leads to deeper, more meaningful connections. A person may find themselves in a rollercoaster of a relationship, full of ups and downs. After working through some tough emotional challenges, they either transform the relationship into something stronger—or let it go and find someone more aligned with who they are now.
Pluto in the 8th house
Pluto in the 8th house takes transformation to its core—focusing on shared resources, deep psychological healing, and life-changing events. This is where you might face fears, experience loss, or gain through inheritance or investments. Someone might go through a life-altering event, like the passing of a loved one, that profoundly shifts their understanding of life, death, and what truly matters. This experience could push them toward deep healing or spiritual growth.
Pluto in the 9th house
Pluto in the 9th house challenges your belief systems and perspectives. You may go through a spiritual awakening or question long-held views, leading to a completely different outlook on life. Think of someone who travels abroad for the first time and comes back with a totally new perspective on life. They might start questioning their old beliefs and embrace a more expansive, open-minded approach to the world.
Pluto in the 10th house
Pluto in the 10th house means big changes in your career or public reputation. You could experience a significant career upheaval, but it leads to a new sense of purpose and a stronger professional identity. Someone might face a professional crisis, like losing their job or going through a public scandal. While it feels devastating at first, they eventually reinvent themselves and emerge with a career that’s more aligned with their true calling.
Pluto in the 11th house
Pluto here transforms your social life and group involvement. You might let go of old friends or find yourself drawn to new causes that bring more meaning to your life. A person might leave a shallow social circle and instead start connecting with people who share their deeper passions, such as environmental activism. This transformation helps them feel more fulfilled and aligned with their ideals.
Pluto in the 12th house
Pluto in the 12th house brings hidden fears, traumas, and spiritual matters to the surface. It’s a time for healing and letting go of old patterns that no longer serve you, allowing for a profound spiritual rebirth. Someone might start therapy or dive into meditation practices that help them uncover and heal past wounds. This process could lead to a spiritual awakening, where they feel more connected to themselves and the universe at a deeper level.

I hope I’m not making mindless sleep deprived connections when I say this, but I just noticed that Milsiril tends to wear bigger and longer clothing around her children. Which gave me the thought oh she probably wears them to hide her scars from her children..but I also suck at forming words so y’all are just gonna have to trust me on this one.
What really caught my attention was these two arts of her wearing two really baggy looking pieces of clothing. In both of these situations she’s with her young children.
Please bear with meee here cuz I know in most of her panels she's in the canary uniform, so we only get to see her in her non work clothes once. In this one extra, her scars visible and she is wearing a short dress, but what I want to highlight is that she is with only elves here.
Here is more of her wearing clothing that covers some of her arms! I like to note that in all instances she’s with Kabru..
(Even in the first panel she is wearing those arm bracelets that cover up most of her skin in a way. She doesn't always wear them but they're an interesting addition imo.)
BUT This is what sells me a little is this scene from this chapter. Where Milsiril is playing the soft and protective Mother role, feeding Kabru cake, almost kinda baby talking him. She’s using her shawl (?) to cover her arms. Til Kabru brings up the dungeon and wanting to be “strong like her” is when her shawl slowly begins to fall off her shoulders each panel and reveals some nasty scars.
Taking at look at the "Strong like you." panel (middle image, first panel in the middle row) it particularly peeks my interest because I’m so sure Kui did that on purpose. Not to mention when the tone shifts completely and we see Milsiril looking rather scary. This time her scars are on full display.
So going off of the last few panels, I’m going to personally assume she tries to cover them around her children so they don't have any feelings of uneasiness or fear around her. In the instance with Kabru, it’s almost like she's trying to install some fear in him whether that’s to drive him away from the dungeon or just show him what exploring in the dungeon is really like. Whatever is the real reason to all of this is beyond me.
I hope this makes sense and y’all can pick up what i’m tryna put down. I’m so tired feel free to reblog with your own interpretations or additions pls. or if i missed anything thanks.
#milsiril#kabru#dungeon meshi#dungeon meshi spoilers#mini analysis kinda#mb if that isnt a shawl i never know when it comes to clothes#JUST SO TIRED
