So I open my laptop for class and i think it's all business as usual. But I look at the taskbar and see something odd.
Tumblr media
I see this. I do not recognize this symbol. I right-click to see what it is. It's fucking CO-PILOT!! I still have windows 10. It's been yelling at me to update for a year now. And they just. Fucking downloaded Co-Pilot onto my laptop with no notice, warning, or consent. I literally looked at my laptop last night and it wasn't there. Now! It is! And I didn't turn it off I just put my laptop into sleep mode. So heads up everyone I guess because what the fuck!!!

Peeked at instagram recently and see that its also feeding posts to AI, with no way of opting out in some regions and in the regions they do allow it, they made the process extremely hard and hidden and you have to provide a screenshot to prove your art has been stolen by AI???
God that fucking app is a cesspool now. I really want to just delete all my posts there but IG is the first place i ever posted my art on the internet... I regret it now.
Honestly everything META touches is a cesspool. Remember when they made a twitter copy and made it impossible to delete without also deleting your instagram so they can brag about the high user numbers?

until the actual translations come out, your takes can be based on mistranslations too. stfu and just log out for good instead of subposting about it on the dash intentionally for people to see your petty grown ass. people are just trying to process the ending. or maybe level down and write your cringy thirst posts instead of sitting on your high horse acting like you know gojo so well
i apologize if my last post came off rude or subposty — it WAS NOT a subpost :,) wish i had clarified in the tags that i am not upset with the ppl that have shared their thoughts, they were simply misled by the poor translation. i am simply irked by the way misinformation is spreading like wildfire and is more or less toying with our emotions — which is always a risk with leaks and it’s not a first time, i am aware of that too
i do not apologize to you though, you’re mean. brave and mighty while you hide behind the anonymous — can you say all of this to my face? if you feel negatively about me (which you obviously do, judging from your words) you’ll always read my posts with a mean tone in your head, no matter what i do you will be annoyed. why are you even here in the first place? you can do both of us a favor and block me — you won’t see my cringy thirsts posts and i won’t have to deal with your nasty ass
EDIT : forgot to say this but, yeah i know gojo satoru so fucking well

A little bit emotional about this stackexchange post where someone, presumably a kid, teaches themself C using K&R the c programming language.
and so it's like. Outsider art almost. K&R doesn't have many large examples, so it's somebody figuring out programming idioms from first principles basically. And like--yknow--it's all there. it's all fucking there!
It's like how people talk about meeting aliens and them playing go and they might play some things differently but they'd know a 3-3 invasion.
idk. for some reason this has got me choked up all evening. K&R hands you like. here is how to reason through the execution steps of an if statement, but iirc it doesn't have any examples of complete code. It sure doesn't hold your hand on like, idiomatic code. and so you hand that to somebody and they say okay and.
they write fucking CODE. they write fucking CODE and you look at it and you go this isn't idiomatic but dear god. you have fucking written CODE you have felt the computer in your bones. i have never met you and yet I know you.

Pixelberry themselves using AI art in StoryLoom is a new fucking low, jesus christ, and absolutely no one should be using any those “Season of Love” assets when they’re clearly AI generated.

"Ai art isn't actually bad it's capitalism that's bad and an economic model that's based on working the most possible so you think ai is just taking away your money"
This isn't abt artists mad abt losing a few commissions on the internet this is about large numbers of artists getting their art stolen so people can make something out of THEIR stuff, that they worked for years to create, without permision. AND corporations using free software to steal instead of paying artists properly. You would think with the amount of artists that are like 'hey this is bad and harming me', as well as the whole ass Hollywood-wide strike that happened with AI usage being one of the key talking points you would understand that it's bad and should at the very least have rules put around it.
But actually artists should stop focusing on something they can try to curtail before it gets too wildly out of control and instead focus on uhhhhh dismantling the economy if they're so mad their stuff is being stolen

Hi, just a heads up. If you see any works by this person, do not support them! They are AI generated.
I think I have made my stance on generative AI pretty clear. But here's a refresher anyway; AI art is theft, AI writing is theft, AI has no place in creative medium of any kind.
Please don't send hate or threats ( I know how much of a shithole the Internet can be). Despite my numerous attempts to inform them that fanfic cannot be written by an AI, they don't seem capable of understanding the problem. Or they are just ok with stealing from hard working creators whose art and writing is being scraped without consent to train their shitty AI. 🙄
People like this are what's wrong with fandom. If you can't be bothered writing the fanfic, why should I bother reading it?

CW: Big angry AI rant. I get a bit nasty and swear a lot idk what else is new
Was modding a stream chat yesterday and had an AI bro come in and basically say if you were putting your creative work online you just had to deal with the likelihood that it'd get scraped and blamed artists/writers/creatives for using social media for discoverability when the sole purpose and usage of social media is (checks notes) "to take our whims and desires and turn that info into a marketable commodity."
Right.
First of all, cunt behavior.
Second, my goodness they had no idea what "AI" actually is in terms of differentiating it from what's happening now re: stealing intellectual property vs. how a computer inherently works. They were calling everything AI like the sad, creepy boomer they later proved to be (via a glance at X when some of my fellow mods got blocked afterward for having opinions rivaling the chatter's, opinions that said chatter didn't respond to because their valid arguments totaled a whopping zero).
Thirdly, idk what the idea is arguing with people having their work stolen and acting so superior about their struggle. You're not going to get rich off these notions—you and every other mediocre, money-hungry, pathetic little dickweasel ripping off someone else's work bc you've never done a thing worth noting in your life except daydream about sucking off Elon Musk are saturating this "market" if it can be called that. There's too MANY of you for any of you to be special and, from the outside perspective, it's embarrassing to watch.
I hope the only shreds of content you ingest for the rest of your days have the exact lack of soul you must for shitting on the very people that unwittingly fed your only hope at ever feeling "creative" with their stolen, plagiarized work. Taking a page out of our future VP's book, I'm gonna say it, you're fucking weird.
Anyway, I think I'm so consistently surrounded by other artists and writers and creative folk who (rightly) hate how this newer form of AI is being used and how hypervigilant we have to be to protect our work, constantly moving apps every time another one gets on the bandwagon (looking at you Tumblr) that I forget shitlords like this exist outside of memes.

A sign of AI-use in an image (that may be a little less obvious since I have seen it happen a few times, but I don't think I've personally seen it mentioned before) is if the signature/watermark is stylistically incongruent with the rest of the image.
As in, if you see, say, a beautifully rendered, complex painting, and the watermark is something like an "@username" written in a very commonly used (or even a default Windows) font that's laid over a small portion of the image? It's likely that the watermark is only there because it's meant as a misdirection, and it's trying to lend the piece and its creator the legitimacy of an actual artist seeking to protect their art.
Of course, this is not an absolutely surefire way to tell (there are a million and one reasons why someone might make one aesthetic choice over another), but this, along with a suspiciously high volume of work over a short time, and the use of a variety of otherwise inconsistent styles, it can be something to keep an eye out for, and something to help tip you off- even if you're only taking a passing glance, or don't feel like you have an eye for other, more technical signs like lighting inconsistencies, anatomical issues, or problems with perspective.
Keep your wits about you, friends, and if something looks off, clicking into someone's profile and taking a cursory look never hurts!

Someone fed my abandoned fic to the ai and it completed the story and then posted it and then it got more popular than my original fic.
I'm sorry that happened to you. Can you report it to AO3? I don't know much about this topic unfortunately other than my own very strong anti-AI opinions which I certainly don't shy away from expressing. Is that perhaps why you sent this to me? Did you see one of my rants about AI?
It's a shitty thing to happen to anyone. Whether fanfics being completed by AI (a really shitty awful thing to do and anyone doing it should be exposed and ostracized from fandom imo) or fanart being fed into the stupid generator to create AI "art". We need to be lobbying governments to ban that shit truly.
