Remember that smile. In a few months, when she assumes the Butcher title from Joe, all the things neolibs praised her for--"clapping back" at pro-palestinian protestors--will be what we as a nation are met with, cocky indifference as she doubles down on Israel's "right" to level entire neighborhoods, orchestrate pager attacks, ethnically cleanse, imprison and sodomise entire populations to death.
Meanwhile, currently, in the U.S., entire towns have been wiped off the map by a deadly climate-change induced hurricane season. Swaths of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee are submerged in water with no electricity, wifi, people unable to reach families, and zero administrative support but $8.7 billion so Israel can "defend" itself from countries it's evaporating with bombs.

Because i hate myself (actually cause I saw a bumper sticker today that made me scream in pure rage) (and also cause like… because i need to be armed to the teeth with knowledge and facts because conservative right-wing family members love to parrot bullshit propaganda when not just being outright bigots🙄) I decided to take a read through the entire Wikipedia page concerning Trump’s 2024 run (and then I looked at his actual campaign website cause I hate myself more and wanted to see some of his actual rhetoric that was mentioned but not quoted) and it’s just like…
He fucking wants to appoint himself as god-king (wants to expand power of the executive (diminishing the separation of powers), turn govt civil employees status to ‘at will’ for firing, and to impose congressional term limits while also abolishing his own) and “root out” the “vermin” in this country (literal rhetoric he has used) and with this Court it probably won’t just go unchecked, but like I’m afraid it could be affirmatively endorsed using principles of originalism and ‘history and tradition’ (whose fucking version of history???? Huh???? Because it certainly wasn’t fucking mine when you overturned Roe in Dobbs) but in the fast and loose way that they like to, where sometimes they want to be textualist and sometimes they don’t.
Assuming he tries, I do think expansion of the executive might not get support from some of the conservative justices under principles of federalism which is— wrong math, right answer. But they 100% would justify his white Christian supremacist alloamatocisheteronormative patriarchal policies under originalism and ‘history and tradition’. As if letting the past guide the future isn’t a fucking BATSHIT thing to do. We learn the past to do BETTER in the future, not to fucking EMULATE it and use their standards to STAGNANT the lives of real people. EVEN THE FUCKING DRAFTERS OF THE GODDAMN CONSTITUTION KNEW THAT IN FUCKING 1787 SO WHY THE FUCK ARE WE STILL DOING THIS SHIT! But I digress from my originalism rant because this is a Presidential Campaign rant.
Like Trump literally said he wants to (and WILL BE) a dictator.
“He says, ‘You’re not going to be a dictator, are you?’. I said: ‘No, no, no, other than day one. We’re closing the border and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.’”
“Baker today in the New York Times said that I want to be a dictator. I didn’t say that. I said I want to be a dictator for one day.”
*insert regina george* so you agree? You want to be a dictator? Pretty sure being one for “one day” is called establishing the dictatorship and suuure Jan im sure that it’ll stay limited in scope to the borders and drilling (as if that would fucking make it okay???) 🙄
And then the option on the ‘opposing’ side is Joe Biden, who, chief among his many faults, is aiding and supporting a genocide. The fact that he has no competition in primaries (literally only one other person is even trying) and will end up being the Democratic candidate has me so incensed and the fact that Joseph Biden is fucking painted as the ‘radical left’ by opposition is both objectively hilarious and just horrifying and dangerously (and probably intentionally) misleading so as to continue the shift of whatever “middle” exists to actually be further and further right wing.
There is not really a larger point here and I’m super not looking for discourse but if anyone is gonna try anyway— don’t bother me without a source.
Anyway I’m just fucking tired and fuck the electoral college and the fact that one of these two ancient men winning seems inevitable

Good news is, US civilians can now vote for either Kamala Harris (not appealing but better than Biden? Hopefully) or whoever else the Democratic Party is going to ultimately pick (hopefully someone better than Biden and Kamala) to replace Biden now that Old Joe has dropped out of the presidential campaign.
So it might be a little more comfortable to vote blue. I don’t know I don’t live there. Make of that as you will.
Trump isn't guaranteed to win this year's presidential election because he's been shot at. In 2020, Trump supporters voted in heavy numbers, but guess what? They still lost because we outvoted them.
Do I want to vote for Biden? No, but I will since no third-party candidate has a winning chance, and I don't want Trump to be president again. Unless y'all are gonna overthrow the American political system and government, we need to vote.
It's normal to be terrified about this presidential election, but don't allow it to stop you from voting and trying to stop that orange fucker from returning to office.

Today I'm gonna go early-vote in the New Mexico primaries & according to the sample ballot I'm able to download from the NM voter info portal: in addition to the presidential candidates, there's US senator, US representative, state senator, state representative, district attorney, metropolitan court judge, county clerk & county treasurer to vote for. All of those people make decisions that affect millions of people, like writing or changing laws, deciding where your tax money goes, making it harder or easier for people to vote in the first place, etc.
For some of the positions, there's only 1 democrat running, but in some other positions there's 2. It's easy to just search their names & look up what their political priorities are, like whether they want to fund police or affordable housing.
My state has made it pretty dang easy to vote with how accessible early voting centers are, probably because we've been voting in county clerks who want to make it easier for people to vote. It might be more difficult in other places because the republicans in office only want you to vote if you're an angry old bigot with the hateful conviction to stand in line for an hour to write away other everyone's rights. So if you're able to, please use your counter energy of being an angry progressive willing to stand in line for an hour to protect all of our rights.
I don’t even care who fucking wins the presidency this year look at this

"In light of this weekend's story about SCOTUS judge Sam Alito pissing on checks, balances, and the Constitution in an ethically dubious Wall Street Journal interview, I think it's fair to say that fascist megadonor and GOP influencer peddler extraordinaire Leonard Leo, telling the Senate to pound sand using a variation on the same argument, probably isn't a coincidence:
The short story here is that Leo is refusing to answer the Senate's questions about his clear and open bribes for fascist-minded judges, arguing essentially that doing so violates his free speech rights, his right not to incriminate himself, and something about libs being mean to him - no, really. The article isn't very long, so you can read it yourself.
What I think is important here however about both Alito's argument, and the arguments being made by lawyers for one of the most important financial backers of legalist and judicial fascism in America, isn't that they're foundationally absurd, and objectively wrong. These people know that, they're more or less telling you that "we have seized the power, and thus we don't have to care - what we say, what our power says, *IS* the same as truth."
Why does that matter? Because that's the difference between bog standard privileged rich guy crap, which is still quite reactionary, and open fascist thought or ideology. Fascists, are the ones who believe truth is what power says it is. This is why "centrist" media has spent the last seven years chasing their tails trying to figure out why people who vote for fascists, believe easily disprovable conspiracy crap, and coming up empty - because truth, is not the same thing for a fascist, as it is for you.
What Alito, and Leo's lawyers are arguing, is that they have the right to make their own truth. To declare their own laws, as convenient. And that right is buttressed by the sleazy pact they've formed with each other, other fascist billionaires, and numerous members of an open fascist movement situated inside the American system, its corporations, its government, and its institutions; an "official" fascist movement, with its hands on the "official" levers of power.
The disturbing part is; I'm not sure they're wrong. I am LEGALLY sure they're lying, and the Constitution doesn't give them the right to rig SCOTUS cases to violate the democratic rights of the majority of American voters; but in terms of facts on the ground, I'm not sure anyone is prepared to go far enough to stop them from substituting their own definition of originalist rights, for what our laws actually say. And that my friends, is how "it could happen here."

idk man as a latino (not a USlatino mind you) i don't want trump in office again either, god knows how bad the global south had it with him, but that didn't change/magically get better with biden. you gotta do better than just vote your guilt away. the rest of us cant even vote and we get the worst out of it with active and silent genocides in at least 6 different places and coups or neoliberal extractivism everywhere else... fucking move your asses.
I'll say it plainly: i don't care how many minorities you're a part of or how bad you have it. If you're USAmerican no government of the united states will make your condition worse than what the same govt will do with its chokehold on the global south.

@liberalsarecool @conservatives-arekilling-america don't worry, biden said he's a zionist so he'll make sure plenty more white phosphorus gets to israel along with tank shells. I know you're worried (like he is) that there might be a ceasefire but he'll do his best to make sure that doesn't happen and that israel doesn't lose international support.
