Elsa giving Anna time to process her new looks! 🤭
She was surprised by Elsa's new appearance. Her sister wasn’t just different, she was transformed. The woman standing there was the most beautiful person Anna had ever seen... Elsa looked, well, stunning. No, it’s more than the dress and the hair, Anna realized. She looks… free.
— A Frozen Heart by Elizabeth Rudnick
Then, with a magical flourish, Elsa created a new dress for herself, too. It was a long, frosty, pale green gown.
“Whoa!” Anna said.
— Frozen Fever: The Junior Novelization adapated by Victoria Saxon
The Water Spirit washed Elsa onto the shore and she stood there—tall, glistening, ethereal. Anna stopped before she reached her sister. It looked like her, but she was different.
“Is it really you?” Anna asked, not sure what to believe, thinking maybe her eyes, or her brain, were playing tricks on her.
— Frozen 2: The Junior Novelization adapated by David Blaze
I noticed Elsa does a thing where she stands in silence for a moment whenever she shows herself to Anna after a significant outfit change. We know it's because she is also glad to reunite with her sister, so they have an exchange of smiles and soft eyes— In Frozen 2, Anna literally thought Elsa died so, of course, she needed a moment to take in seeing her again.
But I like to think it's also because Elsa's giving her some loading time to process her new magical girl transformations 😆
Elsa doesn't like to show off, but I wonder if she ever gets excited to show Anna her new looks (as sisters often do), but is still somewhat shy to present herself for the first time! It's like when you're finally done getting ready for an event or a date, so now you have to exit your room and let your family see you lol
We also know that the Frohana does good-naturedly tease Elsa's extravagant sense of style which I think adds another layer of wholesomeness to it ♡

And we’re back folks! With another batch of rough fan art featuring Queen Anna and powerless Elsa this time.
For this design for Anna, I noticed another post that some people didn’t feel that her regal gown from the epilogue in Frozen 2 really fit her style, so I tried to emulate the colors and rosemaling from her coronation dress in the first movie, while also keeping a sense of maturity in this look having grown into this role. She’s not as impulsive or fiesty anymore, now tempered with responsibilities but still conveys her warmth and compassion as a competent ruler. Still, in comparison with her sister, she is not without her insecurities, as running a country doesn’t come without a fair amount of stress, which she hides from Elsa out of fear of not being good enough.
Now as for Elsa losing her powers, I’m sure a lot of people have hypothesized about if she had an adversesary that could wield fire powers. I have made concept art of that before in the past, but I want to try and draw that digitally first before I show you guys. In this instance, I would imagine that Elsa has faced off against this adversary, and lost, and that enemy has weakened her powers to a state where she is unable to manipulate snow and ice and thus it dramatically alters her appearance. Her hair turns brown, like her mother’s, the clothes that she fashioned for herself would lose their icy appearance and revert to normal civilian clothes (or at worst, disappear, making for an awkward scenario), and the loss makes her weak and sick. She would have to learn how to rehabilitate herself for the next round in the story, but this change would almost certainly traumatize her since she’s just learned how to accept herself and her powers.
Lastly, with my idea for Hans to return in this story, I can’t imagine that Anna would be all that enthusiastic about seeing him again. My idea is that he has some insider information about the adversary that they’re facing in the story, whether it be the Southern Isles, or this fire wielding villain that Elsa loses against, they somehow have to rely on him for assistance. His motivations could be entirely selfish, “merely an enemy of my enemy is my friend situation” and he only agrees to help to stick it to this adversary (probably the Southern Isles). Nonetheless, it would make for some interesting dialogue and dynamics to see how they would react to each other.
Now, like I said, this is all hypothetical. This is more fanfiction and fanart than anything else, you don’t have to agree with it, but this is just a fun exercise in thinking what could happen in the next two movies. I hope you enjoy what I’ve done. Kristoff is coming up next!

In all the videos I've watched about the modern character structure of Disney princesses, I've seen people say that Rapunzel, Anna, Moana, Asha, Raya, Sisu, and Mirabel are generally very samey characters in terms of personality traits and movement styles. But I have yet to see someone say that in Frozen 2, Elsa took on some of those traits, and my horribly capped evidence is under the cut.
Alright, to start with, let me explain a little bit more. Elsa in her debut movie is very restricted and repressed, that's true, but she's also by nature elegant and graceful. Once she figures herself out a little bit more, and she's comfortable in her skin, these aspects of her don't go away, in fact I think they're enhanced by her new confidence and self-assurance. Anna, by contrast, is clumsy and a little awkward, and that's not all down to her upbringing, either. It's who she is, and the contrast between them makes both of their personalities pop. It also makes them realistic, because in human beings and in sisters, you will not have two people who are identical in nature.
However, in the second Frozen movie, Elsa moves and gestures more like Anna. More like the new cookie cutter of the awkward (I hesitate to say "adorkable" because I'm utterly sick of the word at this point, but it's kind of apt) Disney girl.
This is the worst cap I have but watch this little scene where Elsa is startled and her powers activate is one of thee most egregious examples. The entire sequence of movements she has here feels completely detached from her; it's more like the way Anna would move than the way Elsa would move.
This. this is from the scene where she tells Anna she woke the spirits and decides to go to the forest. There is no universe in which the woman from the first Frozen movie would make these faces.
These are from the scene in Ahtohallan where she's watching her past. The cringe, once again, in the way it's animated, feels incredibly alien to her character. The little dance and the facial expressions when she comes across ice!Weaselton are incredibly Rapunzel, I think, but not very Elsa.
This one is the least offender in the bunch. But I still think in this particular scene, where she's doing the typical-of-modern-Disney thing where she's talking to the cute animal friend made to sell plushies, she doesn't feel quite right. The whole "they're all staring at us, aren't they" bit of dialogue contributes to the off-ness of the scene.
Now, allow me to present exhibit B: some of the expressions that I'm comparing her to.
You can see how similar they are, right? All of these to each other but also to the caps of Elsa? It's become the new style to just have all the characters making these faces. It's weird to see it all on them (particularly when it makes no sense for Raya, Asha, and Moana, but that's besides the point) and it's even weirder to see it on Elsa, a character who did not originate with this trait.
Here are a couple of caps of Elsa from Frozen. Her facial expressions are distinct from Anna's, because they have different personalities and would express their emotions physically in different ways. Elsa has a reserved grace and a boundless joy by the end of the movie and it shows through in the way she smiles, the way she frowns, the way she moves. Who she is, is indicated by her movements, which is an individual being and not a standard model.
Now, I'm not dunking on any of the other princesses listed here. I love most of them. I'm emotionally invested in their stories and I cry during their songs and I spend hours sketching them. But do I think I could love them just a little more if they each moved a little differently and their cores were expressed in their physicalities? Yes, I do. I also think it might force Disney to develop their individual personalities better if they weren't just falling back on standardized traits, because more specifics in one department might lead to more in others.
Anyway, that was my little thesis....kay bye.

Constructive criticism: Frozen 1 and 2 (and a bonus)
Ah yes, Frozen 1 and 2. In 1844 Hans Christian Andersen wrote Snedronningen ("The Snow Queen"), a fairytale centering on the struggle between good and evil as experienced by Gerda and her friend, Kai. Unlike Andersen's other stories, The Snow Queen was written in a novel-styled narrative, being divided into seven chapters. In the 2000s, Disney, the IP devouring mega company, no stranger to adapting public domain fairytales and milking as much money from them as possible, saw money, I mean animated musical potential, in The Snow Queen and gave it the old Disney treatment. There were some problems with coming up with a story that would work, but after a while in development hell the writers found a way. in 2013, "Frozen", the one-word titled movie adaptation of Andersens fairytale premiered and was a big hit at the box office. It was good but also a bit overrated, overhyped and, because of this, also overhated. Criticism caused by overexposure to supercatchy songs aside, the movie had a few shortcomings caused by it being written in the eleventh hour. The backstory was a little rushed. Most of the songs were used up in the first act leaving us with only three in the second act, and only one of those three songs helped move the plot forward (The reprise of "For the first time in forever") the two others were just musical deadweight. Elsa and Annas relationship was the most interesting part of the movie but more screentime was spent on Anna and her journey with Kristoff who, while still likable, was not as interesting as Elsa. Because Frozen made a ridiculous amount of money a sequel was made, and it too made a ridiculous amount of money. Personally I like the second more than the first one. Wouldnt call it better than the first, but I wouldnt call it worse either. Like the first one it was carried mostly by its musical numbers and this time it didnt use up all its best songs in the first act. And like the first it had a few shortcomings in the story department. Now, Ive talked about Frozen before and even given it a little constructive criticism in my editorial "More thoughts on Frozen" (A few things that I said in that one are repeated here). But in this editorial I have a few more things to say, not only about the first Frozen, but also its sequel. (Something you probably could have guessed from the title.) So now, without further ado, if I could wish upon a star that I could travel back in time before this movie was made and tweak the script a little, heres how I would change it.
Frozen Any explanation for Elsas ice powers Im not one of those who felt that Elsas ice powers needed to be explained in the first movie. However, in Frozen 2, when they explained the origin of her powers there, it just felt like an afterthought. Frozen 2 felt more like it was about Elsa and Anna cleaning up their grandfathers mess than any examination of what gave Elsa her powers. So I would explain her ice powers in the first movie, and I would do it like this: When Pabbie asks Agnarr and Idunna: "Born with it or cursed with it?" and they answer that she was born with, it the other trolls gasps and whisper among eachother: "A frostborn!" Now, lets jump forward to the part where Anna tries to convince Elsa to bring back summer. Elsa sings: "I cant" and accidentally ices Anna in the heart. Kristoff runs into the room to check on Anna, sees Elsa, gasps and says "A frostborn!" Jump forward to the part where Kristoff is taking Anna to see the trolls. Anna talks to Kristoff and asks. "What was it that you called my sister earlier?" And Kristoff tells her what a frostborn is. Once every hundred years the planets are aligned on the wintersolstice, and if a child is born on that day, at midnight, it becomes a frostborn. Someone with powers of ice and snow. Hes heard the stories (from the trolls), but he never thought he would see one in real life.
Conceal dont feel/ Elsas childhood* In a way I defended this earlier (mostly because I couldnt come up with a better idea myself) but I think I have an idea now on how it could have been done differently. The whole "Conceal dont feel" could be something that Elsa herself came up with in her grown up years. Her parents could try to teach her to use it responsibly instead of bottling it all up. In the scene where Elsa is given her gloves they could first be lying on a book called "The magic feather" (a subtle reference to Dumbo, hinting that the gloves are just placebos) And then later in "Do you want to build a snowman": The King is looking out through a window, rubbing his hand as if it is hurt, worrying about Elsa. The Queen is looking through a book and reacts as if shes found the answer. She shows the book to the king. Both of them have expressions of joy in their faces. (She found the solution to Elsas problem in an ancient text in the book, which leads to them going away on a travel to find it which leads to their ship capsizing in the storm). Later in the movie, before she wakes up in her cell in Arendelle, Elsa has a flashback to a day where she was 12-years old. Her father is touching the palm of her hand with his own as a form of trust exercise. Ice starts forming on his hand. He keeps holding on as a way to say: "Its just ice, theres nothing wrong with your gift, its not evil." Elsa allows herself to smile. Then she has a moment of doubt, her ice gets colder, its hurting her father but he refuses to let go and says in a calm voice: "Its OK Elsa, dont be afraid. You can control it". But the cold becomes too strong and he pulls back his hand in pain. The Queen wants to comfort Elsa but Elsa is afraid and distances herself from her, fearing that shell hurt her. Still wanting to comfort her daughter the Queen tells Elsa: "Its not your fault." But Elsa is too afraid, too afraid of her own powers and backs into the shadows (figuratively AND literally). Their parents dying may be sad but seeing them trying their hardest to help her, and their struggles leading to their own death would be even sadder. It would help make us emotionally invested in the characters and through them, the movie itself. Yes, I know, this was retroactively added in the sequel. But it would have helped the plot of the first movie if it had been revealed earlier.
Fixer upper At one point Kristoff tells Anna that you cant get engaged to someone you just met and she asks him if hes some kind of love-expert. Kristoff replies that he knows some love-experts. So we can assume that the trolls taught him that you cant get engaged to someone you just met. When they meet the trolls, what is the first thing they do? They tell Anna that she should get engaged to this guy she just met. Thats a problem I have with this song, it contradicts what Kristoff told us that they taught him. And also: its a little too upbeat and not a very good 11 o'clock number. (11 o'clock number is a theatre term for a big, show-stopping song that occurs late in the second act of a two-act musical, in which a major character, often the protagonist, comes to an important realization. Examples include "So Long Dearie" from Hello Dolly and "Cabaret" from Cabaret. It was so named because in the days when musical performances would start at 8:30 p.m., this song would occur around 11:00 p.m.) Source: Wikipedia What I would do: At first Anna and Kristoff talks to the trolls about Elsa and her powers, which leads to the trolls starting to sing. The song is about Elsa (who should have gotten a little more screentime) and about how she is right now at a crossroad. She could stay good, she could turn evil, they dont know, it`s up to her. The song should be similar in style and tone to "The Misty mountains cold" from the Hobbit. And then Anna grabs her chest in pain. Pabbie tells them that "only an act of true love can thaw a frozen heart" and you know how the rest goes.
On the fence: Lack of music in the last part* Someone I know pointed out that there was no more musical numbers in the last quarter of the movie. Aladdin ended with a short reprise of "A whole new world", Beauty and the beast ended with a short reprise of "Beauty and the beast". This movie could have ended with Elsa and Anna singing a short reprise of "For the first time in forever" as they are ice skating around together. Just sayin`.
Frozen 2
Water having memory
Water doesn`t actually have memory, but let`s say that it does in the Frozen universe.
It`s still not a good idea for the plot because of the super-expositional ice sculptures that telegraphs important plot points miles in advance.
Lose the "water having memory" bit.
Plot
The plot would still be mostly the same but with a few differences.
When Elsa goes outside while singing "Into the unknown" she goes down to the ocean, freezes the water`s surface and walks on the ocean while singing. After the song ends she reaches her goal and finds what the mysterious voice wanted to show her: On a beach lies what`s left of an Arendellian ship. At closer inspection she realizes that it`s her parents ship. She finds the waterproof log that reveals that her parents were trying to find Ahtohallan. Elsa gets ready for her journey, Anna finds out about her journey and convinces Elsa to let her join, Kristoff, Sven and Olaf are dragged in as well and the next morning they leave Arendelle.
(Note that in this version Arendelle has not been evacuated, the people are still in the city.)
Then things happen pretty much the same way they did in the movie, they reach the magic forest, meet the Northuldra etc, etc. The Northuldras call Elsa a "Frostborn", most of (if not all) the previous frostborns were Northuldras. Elsa is the first to not be one.
When Kristoff sees the dam he does not say that if it broke it would be the end of Arendelle. (I don`t want him to put that thought in Anna`s head.)
In the scene where Elsa talks to Honeymaren she (Honeymaren) says that the old songs mentioned something about a fifth spirit and "a sacrifice" but she`s not clear on the details. "Only Ahtohallan knows."
Later Elsa, Anna and Olaf head north while Kristoff and Sven stay behind with Ryder and the rest of the Northuldra. Instead of finding their parents ship (since Elsa already found it in the first act) Elsa, Anna and Olaf reach the stormy sea that they have to cross to reach Ahtohallan. Elsa, fearing for Anna`s safety sends her and Olaf away in an ice boat. (It was her plan to send them to a lake that they passed on the way to the ocean, but Anna makes the boat miss the lake and land in the river with the sleeping rock giants. They later end up in the cave.)
Elsa tames the Nokk, crosses the ocean, finds Ahtohallan, sings "Show yourself" with a vision of her mother and all that, but she doesn`t turn into the fifth spirit... yet. She enters the room with the memories and sees things that happened and people who lived in the past. (In this version however, the memories are not made of snow, they are ordinary, transparent, blue-ish ghosts.) She sees Anna and Olaf and where they were a few minutes ago. She goes too far into Ahtohallan, sees her grandfather killing the Northuldra leader and starts to sink through the floor (instead of freezing to ice).
(Remember what the song said? "But not too far or you’ll be drowned.")
Elsa tries to escape but can`t, she sends a message to the place where she knows that Olaf and Anna were a few minutes ago. Anna and Olaf get her message, Olaf gets weaker, they realize something must have happened to Elsa, Anna has one final warm hug with Olaf, sings "The next right thing" and prepares herself for what she must do.
She wakes up the ice giants, gets them to chase her and throw big rocks at the dam. Mattias tries to stop her but she can`t hear him over the sound of the destruction. When the dam is destroyed Mattias tells Anna that he tried to warn her that the river leads to Arendelle. (Remember what I said earlier, in this version Arendelle has not been evacuated.)
Meanwhile at Ahtohallan: Remember what Honeymaren said earlier: something about the fifth spirit and "a sacrifice". Because of Elsa`s sacrifice, Ahtohallan has deemed her worthy to be the fifth spirit. She comes back to life, gets her fifth spirit outfit, emerges out of the floor, and rides on the Nokk to save Arendelle.
At Arendelle the people hear the flood coming nearer, they start to evacuate but the flood is coming too fast. Fortunately Elsa arrives in time and saves the people. Anna is reunited with Elsa, Kristoff finally, properly, proposes to Anna and Elsa recreates Olaf.
Olaf: "Hi, I`m Olaf! And I like warm hugs!"
Anna: "Olaf!"
Olaf: "Do I know you?"
Anna: "Olaf. It`s me!"
Olaf: "Aha! ... and you are...?"
Anna: "..."
Anna realizes that this is not the old Olaf. He`s new, with none of the old Olaf`s memories.
Anna: "I`m... Anna. And this is Elsa, Kristoff and Sven."
Olaf: "Nice to meet you all!"
Anna becomes the new Queen of Arendelle, Elsa abdicates and lives in the forest with the Northuldra, Lieutenant Mattias returns to Arendelle and is promoted to General under Anna. A statue is unveiled of a younger Agnarr and Iduna to honor their memory and the new unity between Arendelle and the Enchanted Forest. Anna sends a message to Elsa via Gale, inviting her to come visit them. After recieving and reading the message, Elsa gets up on the Nokk and rides towards Arendelle.
I changed the source of Elsa`s power because, as I said earlier, tying the origin of her ice powers to Ahtohallan and the four elements felt like an afterthought. Also: notice that I wrote that if a child is born at midnight on the winter solstice once every 100 years.
You probably wonder: but what if a child is not born under those particular cirumstances?
Then I guess they`ll just have to wait for the next time the planets align. It`s not like there have to be a frostborn every 100 years, it`s not like it`s part of a great plan. Being a frostborn is not a requirement for being the fifth spirit (but it is an advantage).
What I`m saying here is that I`m not a big fan of the chosen one narrative. (Don`t hate it but I don`t like it either.) It just feels like it lowers the stakes.
This movie`s theme was about change, so it feels a little weak that they kill Olaf but then bring him back again exactly as he was before, once again, it has really low stakes.
"But it`s a kids movie" some might say. Yes, but kids movies can, and have, dealt with serious issues like death in the past and handled it in a mature way.
Of course I understand that Disney would never kill off a marketable character from one of their most profitable cash-cows, atleast not permanently. That`s why I suggest that they do like Marvel did with Groot and Gamorra, kill them, then bring them back, but not the same as they were before.
This would of course mean that there would be no post-credits scene where Olaf retells the story to Marshmallow and the snowgies, since:
A: Olaf wouldn`t remember anything that happened before his resurrection
and
B: Marsh and the snowgies would have disappeared just like Olaf did when Elsa temporarily died.
But if I had to put in a post-credits scene then it could show... I don´t know... Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Sven and Olaf sitting around a table eating shawarma.
*Yes, this is something that I copy pasted from my old editorial: "More thoughts on Frozen"
Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022) Now, I have to confess, I haven`t actually seen this movie, but I have seen several videos on youtube describing the plot and there are two things that I have some opinions about.
Gadget and Zipper having kids together Gadget and Zipper? Im not feeling it. Id lose that.
Peter Pan as the villain Didnt like what they did with Peter Pan for two reasons.
1: Because of what happened to Bobby Driscoll, and many other child stars in showbiz.
2: Not aging is not just a Peter Pan thing but a toon thing in general. How come Peter Pan, the boy who never grows up, is the only toon that ages when no other toon does? Im sure the writers thought they were very clever when they wrote that, but besides the whole Bobby Driscoll (and many other child stars) thing it just doesnt make sense. Not even in this movies universe. My solution: Make Smee the bad guy. It works because A: Hes a pirate so it fits the whole piracy thing.
B: I can easily see Smee being the kind of henchman whos more clever and dangerous than he appears and who could totally lead a criminal organisation. And just like Judge Doom in "Who framed Roger Rabbit?" he could disguise himself as a live-action human, maybe as a woman? (Super-realistic mtf mask disguises usually make movies better, or at least memorable.
And that`s how I would do it.
My original plan was to make one big editorial where I give constructive criticism to not only these three movies, but also Raya and the last Dragon, Scoob, Space Jam: A new legacy and Wish but I felt that it would be hell of a lot to write in one editorial. So I decided to divide it up. Space Jam 2 and Scoob gets to share one editorial, as do Raya and Wish. So now you know what to expect from me, when it comes to literature, for the next couple of weeks (or more likely, months).
It is of course very easy for me to write these because I have the luxury of hindsight. And unlike the filmmakers I don`t have a movie studio breathing down my neck, forcing in unnecessary changes and pressuring me to get it made before a deadline.
Why do I write these? For several reasons. Im nitpicky, sometimes the movies I criticize arent bad, I just like my own ideas better, sometimes the movies I critize are bad, I care about good storytelling and it`s a fun excerize in creativity and script doctoring. But also because I have a lot of of free time.

Comments are not necessary but appreciated.
Other movies on my Constructive Criticism list that you can look forward to
Supergirl (1984) Jonah Hex (2010) Dragonball evolution The Spirit (2008) The Dark Knight trilogy
And as usual: English is not my first language, so if my writing doesn`t seem to flow naturally, you know why.

I love your analyses and writing style! Most of all, your hunger to scrutinize scene by scene, take screenshots and figure out the locations in the castle in different scenes. I too have treaded this path years ago!
As others have pointed out, little Elsa moved out, not Anna.
Continuity errors are numerous in Frozen!! I remember that bed locations are one big source of non-continuity. To cope with this, I usually identify the sisters' beds by colour and rosemaling pattern as that is consistent. Elsa's is a black bed and Anna's is white.
I'm not sure if you have covered this in your later posts. The size of Elsa's bed is also inconsistent. In F1 it is a single bed with a single pillow.
But in F2 opening scene, in the kids bedroom, the same bed is wide enough for 2 pillows. Oh well, F2 came out 6 years after F1 so we can forgive the continuity error!
And as others pointed out, Elsa moved into the parents' bedroom. In the F2 bedroom scene, we can't be sure if she moved her bed over, but we can see that it's black and has the same rosemaling and can sleep 2 adults. It just looks wider to me. Maybe she had a new bed made.
And a very brief glimpse of the parents' room in F1 (before they left for their voyage) seems to show the same rosemaling but not a purple colour scheme. Non conclusive.
Onto the subject of the rooms, I totally agree with you that the children's room (which becomes Anna's room) is where you stated it is. A gif helps to show the two window tips you referred to.
This is the triangle room at the "front" of the castle, or the East side. (the red arrow) the yellow arrow is the parents' room.
See also my 3D castle gif (from David Womersley's drawings)
As to where little Elsa's new room is, I've never thought about it before! But yes, it has a triangular window and it looks out to some mountains and not the town.
So, yes! It may be opposite of Anna's room ie on the West side of the castle. We don't know for sure where Anna ran to in this scene:
Excited to go through your other posts and cross reference with what I previously researched! Kudos on your labour of love!
I also see that you've alluded to Elsa's telekinesis powers and frosty powers! I have written 3 whole posts on Elsa's powers. I believe Elsa transformed the flowers into fabric onto the dresses! An amazing power.
Lastly, I've analyzed that pic from "All Around Arendelle" before and have been similarly disappointed. It is not meant to be fully accurate, and is also 2D and not 3D, meaning some rooms may be falsely depicted side to side in order to display the contents.
Arendelle Castle Rooms: Part 1
I've been meaning to make clear posts based on the rooms in Arendelle Castle because I love them and the castle and why not. I have tons of references so I'm going to use them to put the pieces together.
Let's begin part 1 with Elsa and Anna's room.
1. Elsa's bedroom
(Ref: Concept art | End of 'Frozen Fever')
Elsa's room used to be both Elsa and Anna's room when they were small but right after the incident that led to their 13 year long distance, Anna was forced to move to a different room. Elsa's room is mainly purple with pink accents. She has a big queen size canopy bed held back around it, on the left side horizontally upon entering her room. She has chairs around the room and a triangular window with a seat in front of it where she can sit and look out of. Next to her bed, in the left hand corner is a big fire place. Below her bed she has a long rectangular rug stretching out to the other side of the room and in front of her fireplace, a circular rug is placed. Anna's room has the exact same layout but in the opposite direction so though we can't see the other side of Elsa's room, we can assume what is there. Along the wall the door is on, there are 2 tables and in the right hand corner is a dressing screen. Opposite the bed is there is a table that has the two pots of flowers.
In Frozen Fever however, when Elsa is seen back in her room when Anna feeds her the cold remedy, it looks like the bed is on the other side, given you can't see the fireplace and the white rectangles on the wall are shown. This could be a continuity error as the headboard too isn't decorated with the designs it would normally have on it. So that would mean Elsa's bed is in the same position as seen in the concept art.
2. Anna's bedroom
(ref: Concept art | Elsa goes to Anna's room in 'Olaf's Frozen Adventure' | Beginning of "Making today a perfect day" in 'Frozen Fever' | 'All around Arendelle' book)
Anna's bedroom is mainly pink and much warmer in terms of colour tone as a contrast to Elsa's cooler purple/ pink tone. Anna's room has the exact same layout as Elsa's as I mentioned above but in opposite directions. So the bed would be on the right hand side, upon entering her room, the dressing screen in the bottom left corner, the fireplace on the top right hand corner, 2 tables alongside the wall the door is on, and the table of flower pots alongside the left wall.
Side fact:
In Frozen Fever one of those flower pots are of sunflowers and the other one of the 6 petal pink flowers that Elsa uses for her dress which are called rain lilies or also known as Zephyranthes or the Cuban Zephyr Lily. When Elsa uses these flowers on her dress, she gives them an icy touch and adds a simple snowflake on top of the flower to freeze them onto her dress. However, Anna's sunflowers that Elsa puts onto her attire and hair don't have that snowflake effect meaning she probably just used her telekinesis (the power of lifting things up) and frosted them onto her attire without changing the colour.
In Olaf's Frozen Adventure we learn that Anna has an attic above her room however it's filled with trunks of Elsa's stuff such as satin gloves and Elsa's crocheted toy penguin. In the room itself, it seems that the room has had a layout change. The bed has moved across the other side of the room and the rectangular rug isn't there. Instead the circular rug has moved down in front of the bed. That would mean the dressing panel and the table of flowers is moved to where the bed was in Frozen Fever. However the long painting or embroidered wall piece has been kept in the same place alongside the dressing tables too. Bearing in mind that Olaf's Frozen Adventure takes place before Frozen Fever, it could be that the bed and rug misplacement is just a continuity error and in fact the bed is just in the same place as in the concept art above.
The book, 'All around Arendelle' shows that the sisters rooms are the side top two panels of the front of the castle, as shown below but that is proven wrong in Frozen 2.
In Frozen 2, as Iduna finished her song, "All is found", she carries young Elsa to the triangular window. As the camera zooms out of the room, we start seeing structure from outside the castle. The structure shows that Anna's room is the top main front triangular window as circled above. There's the same window at the back of the castle suggesting that Elsa's room is directly opposite hers and at the back while Anna's at the front of the castle. The front has two triangular windows on the right while the back has two on the right and Frozen 2 showed the tips of the two windows on the right confirming Anna's room at the front. Remember that Anna and Elsa's shared room is actually Anna's room now and it was Elsa who was forced to move out of their room then.
Part 2 will go into the other rooms of the castle starting with the hallway out of Anna's room.

Frozen 2 Sister Styles Anna Review:
So when I was at Target Earlier getting a box to store all my frozen dolls in, I trying to decide weather to either get the Frozen 2 Sister Styles Anna doll with the long hair and the braiding device while I was there at target, or go to JCPenney tomorrow or Monday and get the Anna and Elsa set instead. I decided to get the Sister Style Anna due to Really liking her long hair and the possibility of using the braiding device on other dolls.
First off I wanna say the big fake cardboard Braid on the box is a little Misleading, as you can’t really make a braid that big/thick with the device it comes with, it’s just not possible.
Back of the box featuring brief instructions on how you use the device
And here’s everything you get in the box: Anna, the braiding tool and its stand and doll clip, 2 hair clips, a red hair pully tool, a comb, 6 elastic Bands, and a set of instructions.
First off, Anna herself. Aside from the Long hair and the Lack of a Cloak she’s Identical to the Regular Hasbro Frozen 2 Anna, down to the painted legs and Unpainted boots. While it got rather frizzy during the unboxing process, her Long hair is very nice, a little shorter than I thought, and surprised they attempted to do the back and down Braid with this particular doll, even if it’s kinda Half Assed here. I ended up undoing it later.
Here’s the Instructions, showing everything you get, how to actually use the braiding device, and some style suggestions and Trouble shooting for the device. They instructions are fine I guess, if a Little confusing,
Here’s the Red Pully Tool, the Hair clips, Elastic Bands, and the Comb. The Hair clips are nice, and the Comb Is a really Good doll comb.
Finally here’s the Braiding Device. This thing sucks. The whole main gimmick with this doll, and it only sorta works. You have to separate the hair section you wanna braid into 3 sections, but they can’t be too thick otherwise you can’t really pull it out the other end of the device. To start braiding it you press the button and the 3 hair cylinders spin around, but sometimes it doesn’t spill all the way and gets stuck. Even when it does work you have to have all 3 Hair sections pulled through evenly, which is VERY Hard to do, otherwise...
You get something like this. The Braids Just don’t come out good in all the attempts I tried to do this, and this was the best of the bunch. This is just not Good. This Gimmick/Feature sucks. I’d be Better off just braiding it my way even if the braids end up hella thick like mine usually do. THIS is the most Disappointing Part of this set, the Gimmick just Flat out sucks. But the doll itself is still pretty good
I ended up Just using the Elastic, as well as the additional elastic used in the packaging, which I usually try to save for doll hair, to make a loose Pony Tail. I also put on the hair clips on the sides, and I really like this Look for her.
Overall This Doll set is Alright. The Gimmick Sucks but the Doll is Great.

Significance of Hair in Frozen and Frozen 2
(Spoilers for Frozen and Frozen Two btw)
Alright then! After going on an hour long rant to my friends about how beautiful and symbolic frozen is I have decided to make a post about the symbolism and importance of hair in Frozen (obviously this is a thing that many people have spoken about and I am probably going to repeat a lot of what other people have already said but I wanted to give my own personal insight and thoughts into how hair is used to create meaning in Frozen)
So my general idea is that loose hair is representative of the Enchanted Forest and braided hair is representative of Arenwdelle and hair is used to show where the two protagonists Elsa and Anna belong and feel at home (for Elsa the Enchanted forest and for Anna Arendelle (sidetone just realised that Elsa and Enchanted forest both start with an E and Arendelle and Anna both start with an A. Funny coincidence???))
Anyway, let’s start with how Elsa’s hair transforms through the films:
So, let’s start from the coronation of Elsa, she has her hair tightly done up (and we can assume that it’s in someway braided because in Let It Go it falls out into a plait) it’s at this point that she feels trapped the most I think, she is being made to become the ruler of a kingdom of people who she has been hiding herself from, a kingdom of people who she believes will think she is a monster and her hair helps to demonstrate how restricted she feels. Formal and, as I said, tightly done, a stark contrast to the end of Frozen two when her hair is completely loose when she feels completely free and completely herself.
And during the banger of a song ‘Let It Go’ she takes her hair out of its formal style as she begins to feel more free and more comfortable in herself, her hair is no longer restrictive but it hangs loosely round her shoulders. However, it is still in a braid, although she may feel more free she is yet to feel truly and home and there is a difference between feeling free in solitude and feeling like she belongs and to her she hasn’t found where she feels most at home and so most likely still clings onto the happiness she felt as a kid when she felt like she was home (before she accidentally hurt Anna and she started to feel out of place and like a monster)
Her hair stays like that during Frozen Fever, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and the first chunk of Frozen 2 because she doesn’t know about the Enchanted forest and because she is happy with Anna and the rest of her family she still feels that Arendelle is her home and where she belongs hence why she still wears a braid in her hair, but as we learn in Frozen 2 she still feels like something is missing and she doesn't fully belong
And for the first part of her being in the Enchanted forest she continues to wear that braid, she meets the fire spirit and the air spirit and she begins to get a sense that maybe she should be there, but she still can’t stand the thought of being apart from her sister and the comforts of Arendelle and so, the braid remains
It’s when she has to tame the water spirit the the braid finally goes, because this is one of the final steps to her realising that the Enchanted Forest is wear she is meant to be, it is when she tames the water spirit that she is able to be shown the cave where she sees her mother and accepts that she is where she belongs and discovers the truth about herself being the fifth spirit. But her hair is still tied up because she is still trying to hold on, she is still attached to Arendelle even though that attachment is weakening, in fact it isn’t her attachment to Arendelle, it’s most likely her desperation to stay with Anna and her reluctance to leave Anna and the place she has lived her entire life behind
And there it is!!!!!! When she finally accepts that Arendelle is not her home and that she belongs in the Enchanted Forest the braids vanish and she has her hair fully loose
Anna on the other hand keeps a plait in her hair no matter what because unlike Elsa Arendelle is where she belongs, it is where she is meant to be:
From Elsa’s coronation
All the way through Frozen one and the start of Frozen two where she wore her signature plaited pigtails
In Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and Frozen Fever we can still see plaits woven into her hairstyles
And her main hairstyle in Frozen two, although it is still majority loose, there is still a braid in it
And like Elsa we also should assume that she has some form of braid in her coronation hairstyle but unlike Elsa it isn't a sign of entrapment and unlike Elsa she isn't scared and miserable, she is content and happy and ready to rule over and protect her home as their queen
In fact the only time there is no plait at all in her hair is when she first wakes up and her hair is an absolute mess but other than that the braid never leaves her hair, not once and that is because, unlike Elsa who by the end has no braids in her hair and is completely loose, has never felt not at home in Arendelle, she never felt out of place or that she never belonged, Arendelle is where she was always meant to be
(Enchanted forest=loose hair Arendelle=Braids/plaits)

Frozen 2 AU prompt - Anna loses one of her arms when the dam falls, Winter Soldier style, and Elsa makes her an arm made of ice
"Can you turn it into a sword? A big ice sword??"
Elsa stopped what she was doing and lifted her head, giving her younger a stare.
"No. It has to remain practical, you know that?"
Anna pouted. "It can be badass and practical."
Elsa shook her head, though she smiled at her sister's antics, and resumed her swirling moves.
"Awww, come on!" Grumbled Anna, and she would have slumped her shoulders if Elsa hadn't ordered her to stay still. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, my big sister is making me a magical arm, I might as well take advantage of it, no?!"
Now Elsa completely interrupted her work and stared at her again with a serious expression, making the redhead gulp. The elder sat up straight, her arms crossed in scolding.
"You're speaking of lifetime, but you almost died back there."
Anna turned her eyes away in shame. To see the teal blue escape from her gave a pinch to Elsa's heart. She tilted her head to meet her gaze, her voice softer.
"Do you understand how heartbreaking it was for me to see you in that state? You woke up from coma days later."
The redhead looked at her again, but with a pout. "And do you understand how it was for me? I spent a whole night in a cave, alone, in the dark, thinking you were dead."
Elsa's face twisted with sadness. She pushed away the feeling and looked at the ice arm again. "Maybe we should stop risking our lives ever again."
"Says the one who told me to destroy a dam!" Puffed the younger.
Elsa scoffed. "I just sent you a memory of the truth!!"
Anna frowned. "I did what was right."
"I know", sighed the blonde. "But I never gave you the instruction to stand right in the middle of it as you destroyed it."
A silence passed. Elsa sighed again. "Though, it's thanks to your act of... badassery, that I am alive now."
"HA!" Exclaimed Anna. She immediately gasped and slammed her remaining hand on her mouth. "...Sorry." She added in a much quieter voice.
Elsa smiled.
Another silence passed, only punctuated with the sounds of ice crunching as her fingers twirled around the new arm.
"I just care about you, you know." Muttered Elsa. "The fact that I won't always be there to protect you is haunting me."
Anna tilted her head and smiled.
"So craft me something to defend myself, so you don't have to worry anymore."
Elsa stopped to think.
"You've seen how good I am with a sword!" Insisted Anna.
Damn, she had a point.
The blonde sighed. "Fiiiine... I'll make the forearm part a blade."
Anna was so excited that she flailed around.
"Stay. Still."
"Sorry."
The redhead then grinned. It wouldn't be taking so long if Elsa wasn't giving a tremendous attention to detail to make her a beautifully crafted arm, and she was thankful as much as admirative.

ok guys let’s talk tan sisters descendants au
we have OPTIONS. organized in no order bc i have NO idea what i’m doing for em
some kind of frozen character
pros: corinne and gwynn have a very elsa/anna aesthetic, with corinne having the unnatural hair color (in a style reminiscent of movie 2!anna) and gwynn having the two braids. they are also VERY winter-themed and focused on sisterly relationships, and, well, gwynn can easily be slipped into magic.
cons: i’ve used most frozen characters and got pretty decent placements with them; i like elsamaren!kaya, kirstanna!kirsten and hans!mia. also: aside from the winter sports, their story isn’t very similar to frozen, elsa and anna’s interests aren’t similar to corinne and gwynn’s. there’s also zero connection to corinne’s dog, which is her main interest
roger and anita dearly (101 dalmatians)
pros: connected completely to the dog interest; 101 takes place around christmas for a winter connection. most importantly, nicki is a foster kid of the dearlys in this au, it would be really cute having her and corinne connect over their similar interests (dogs, skiing, eldest daughter syndrome, etc.)
cons: the christmas setting is the ONLY winter connection, nothing really good for gwynn’s skating and the girls’ overall interest in winter sports
lee family (turning red)
pros: we have the magic stuff that ALSO connects to girlhood/sisterhood, animal connection, plot can very easily feed into corinne’s anxiety/stress over being perfect for everyone. they’re a little young to be panda-ing but since when did descendants canon care about that shit let’s give gwynn little ears. corinne’s hair can have red streaks instead of blue. giant fluffy pandas
cons: the lee family is cantonese and the tan sisters are mandarin chinese (as stated in book 2). we could say their non-lee parent is mandarin but i don’t like the implication that we could be saying “they’re both chinese who cares” cause they’re both?? different and important?? there is also still no winter connection
jim dear and darling (lady and the tramp)
pros: connected completely to the dog interest, and flurry VERY MUCH looks like a mutt mix of lady and tramp. the christmas setting is more defined and marketed so there’s our winter. corinne and gwynn can still have a connection with nicki as they’d probably be dog-focused households. we can shift canon so corinne is the baby from the movie how cute would that be
cons: again, it’s a winter setting but not super connected to the sporting. it also doesn’t give the girls a LOT to do as jim dear and darling are pretty bland characters, but i’ve come up with fun plots with less so that is NOT a dealbreaker
shan yu (mulan)
pros: winter-themed, animal-training, dark!gwynn would be fun, i need more isle kids
cons: the huns’ history isn’t too well-known but they’re speculated to be kazakh, but anyway they’re likely not chinese and while mulan is set in china i don’t know if i like just saying “well they’re asian” y’know?? this is probably the least likely but i do like the idea of corinne and gwynn as isle kids so if anyone has any other villain ideas
jack and sally skellington (nightmare before christmas)
pros: christmas is a huge part of the plot so we got our winter theme. flurry can be a ghost dog. we can come up with cool-ass monster designs for our girls. sally can see the future she could’ve passed that gift onto gwynn. this movie has the coolest aesthetic i love it so much
cons: still no skiing. movie is also very halloween do i wanna save it for a halloween-based girl? would ag ever woman up and do a creepy goth girl?? i mean we still have oogie-boogie for that if i use the skellingtons for the tans but
anyway. girls help

Frozen 2.5 - Prologue + Chapter 1
I’m literally shaking. I can’t believe this day has finally come.
I first began work on this project back in November, on Frozen 2′s anniversary to be precise, and have worked on it for countless hours since. My artist for the project, the talented @myrthena, has also been working hard on the above cover art and other illustrations. After tons of edits and re-readings, I can’t express how happy I am to finally share it with all of you!
Frozen 2.5 is my next big Frozen writing project. But unlike my previous one, Seek the Truth, which is an essay-style analysis book, Frozen 2.5 is a post-Frozen 2 fanfiction novel, created very much in the same vein as the official Frozen novels Dangerous Secrets and Forest of Shadows. Anyone who’s been following my posts for a while knows that I mostly do essay/editorial writing and have never had much interest in reading or writing fanfiction. But like any fan, I’m always playing out fanfiction stories in my head. I just never felt the need to write one out in full - until now. But before you get to reading the story, a quick introduction is in order:
I had two main goals while writing Frozen 2.5. First goal was to create a Frozen story that would be indistinguishable from something Disney would officially release as a feature-length film. I wanted fans, whether hardcore or casual, to read this novel and think, “Yeah, I could see Disney making this for the next Frozen movie.” Obviously, that means there’s nothing in the story that would warrant a rating beyond PG, but as anyone familiar with Disney movies knows, that certainly doesn’t mean the story can’t have drama, angst, and dark moments (which it does). And my other goal, and probably the more important one, was to create a story that appeals to a wide range of Frozen fans, especially fans who are having trouble imagining if fun, likable scenarios can still take place with the new direction Frozen 2 took for our beloved characters. With that in mind, even though I’m not well versed in the Frozen fanfic community, I’m pretty sure my story will have some similarities to others (the world of Frozen does lend itself easily to common headcanons and narrative ideas). But in spite of this, I’m hoping Frozen 2.5 has enough of my own unique touch as a writer, and die-hard Frozen fan, to be something very interesting, unpredictable, and overall enjoyable for fans of many ages and tastes.
I’m going to be releasing a new chapter of the story every 1-2 days, starting with the prologue plus chapter 1 today, and ending with chapter 7 (the final chapter) and the epilogue on April 11th. Each chapter will have an original illustration by myrthena as well. The entire 63K+-word novel is written already, so don’t worry about me getting writer’s block and not finishing it. I just need a little more time to compile the illustrations and do a final review.
The release schedule is below (I’ll try to stick as close to it as possible, though it may vary slightly). You can follow me here or on Twitter to be notified when the new chapters are available. You can also check the respective pages on FF.net and AO3 (linked at the end of this post):
Release Schedule:
-Sun. 3/28 (today): Prologue and Chapter 1
-Tue. 3/30: Chapter 2
-Fri. 4/2: Chapter 3
-Sun. 4/4: Chapter 4
-Tue. 4/6: Chapter 5
-Fri. 4/9: Chapter 6
-Sun. 4/11: Chapter 7 and Epilogue
For the final release on April 11th, I’ll also include a complete edition that has all the chapters and illustrations together in one pdf, including an afterword written by me (where I discuss some history and final thoughts on the project).
With all that said, please enjoy the prologue and chapter 1 linked below. I have poured my heart, soul, and every fiber of my being as a Frozen fan into this story!
-----
Story Summary: It’s been about half a year since the events of Frozen 2. Anna is adjusting well as queen of Arendelle, and Elsa has been making slow but steady progress with reconnecting the spirits with the Northuldra. And while both sisters, as well as Kristoff, have been trying hard to create a unity between Arendelle and Northuldra, decades of animosity is proving difficult to mend. However, the new status quo is interrupted when Anna receives a letter from a queen of an unknown kingdom - a queen who still thinks that Elsa is the queen of Arendelle. Our heroes soon get caught up in the mysterious plans and dark history of this strange kingdom and its enigmatic queen. Trusts are tested, courage must rise against danger, answers slowly come to light, and in the end, all sides must come together to overcome an impending threat.
The prologue and chapter 1 mostly reintroduce the characters and their current status, and have a lot of endearing Frohana moments. But there is foreshadowing of the calm before the storm...
*I recommend reading the PDF version since FF.net and AO3 have limitations (not a lot of font choices, can’t show all images, no distinction between prologue/epilogue and chapters, and FF.net doesn’t let me have a period in the title)*
*Read PDF version HERE (recommended)
*Read on FF.net HERE (it’s called “Frozen 2 5″ because FF.net doesn’t let you include periods in titles)
*Read on AO3 HERE (thanks to @wintermoonqueen for the invite)

Chapter 14 - Changes
Links: Chapter overview, Character list, Map, Glossar Rating: M over all Publishing cycle: each Friday at 6:00 pm CEST dst/UTC +2:00 on (link) Remarks: all my chapters contain carefully selected music tracks. It’s your own decision if you want to use them or not while reading. The purpose is to musically support the respective mood of the plot. If you can please use a browser for reading (not the Tumblr app) due to the text formatting and music.
Yelana caught the two boys from behind as they were telling jokes and laughing out loud instead of watching the herd. She cleared her throat audibly and the heads of both of them drove around scared. They both looked at her serious face and went white as a sheet.
Yelana's gaze wandered back and forth between them, then shrugged and said in a friendly voice, “You've got nothing to worry about, boys.” Their posture then relaxed a little. Then she pondered for a moment, swayed her head in her typical manner and finally looked at them a little arrogantly. “I need a reindeer, preferably saddled and harnessed, if possible please. I'm not that young anymore.”
The surprise reaction of the two of them was priceless for Yelana's taste, but didn't let on and grinned inside herself instead. The boys stood there frozen as if rooted to the ground and could not believe their ears.
“Come on, you two, I haven't got all day!” She made a wagging gesture and frowned apparently in annoyance.
The boys started moving and less than five minutes later a saddled reindeer was standing in front of her.
She took a closer look at the animal and the saddle and nodded contentedly at the end. Then she pushed her rod under the straps of the saddle and mounted. “Take good care of all of you,” she said to the boys standing there waiting and gave them a motherly look. Then she sighed and rode off without looking back another second.
“What did she mean by that? And why is she riding away anyway?” one of them asked.
“I haven't the faintest idea. I didn't even know she could ride,” replied the other.
Both gazed after her completely perplexed.

The wagon rumbled along and nobody spoke a word. Even Olaf remained silent and looked at the passing landscape with a transfigured look. Everyone was lost deep in their thoughts except Elsa, who had fallen asleep next to her.
How could she sleep so calmly; Anna thought, and pondered the upsetting events as she absent-mindedly watched the sunset. On any other day she would enjoy it, but today it seemed to her as if it announced a night of mischief.
What would this Kolgrimr do with the Northuldra once he realized that they were already long gone and he could no longer carry out whatever plans he had in mind. She feared for the people there and if Honeymaren was right in her suspicion, they could not defend themselves against his magical powers. They would all be helplessly at his mercy.
Slowly but constantly anger rose in her. Couldn't anything go right for once in her life? Did something terrible always have to happen to them and ended up being involved? She looked over to her sister and envied her. Elsa's face seemed completely relaxed, she even smiled slightly. Was she dreaming of Honeymaren? What was between them? Of course she would not mind if a romantic relationship developed between the two of them. She knew that Arendelle was quite open-minded about relationships of this kind, there was even a married female couple, Ada and Tuva Diaz with two adopted children. What was most important to her was Elsa's well-being and she wanted nothing more than the happiness for her sister.
And now someone thought he had the right to get revenge for something they were both not to blame for. Anna cursed and at the same moment, frightened by her behaviour, held her hand over her mouth. The next moment, she looked into Kristoff's eyes, who had turned around to look at her with a raised eyebrow.
“You curse? About what?” he asked curiously.
“Oh nothing, it's not that important,” she replied quickly, waving off and feeling the situation as embarrassing. Kristoff now raised his other eyebrow, too. Apparently he didn't quite believe her assertion.
“You know you can tell me anything, honey. Just say it out loud. If I don't know what it's about, I can't help you.”
Anna sat down and nodded her head a little bashfully at last. “Yes, dear, I know, and cursing isn't usually my style either. I was just thinking about this Kolgrimr and why it is always us who are in the middle of the action and risking our lives. What do you think about this whole thing? You have been quiet all the way back and don't seem particularly frightened to me.”
Kristoff shrugged his shoulders. “We made it out of the woods in time, if all this is true, and we'll be home soon.” Then he remembered the conversation with Ryder when he warned him and he said, “I'm not worried about myself, Anna, but if there's anyone I really care about, it's you, honey. If anything happens to you, that would be the end for me, I love you.”
Anna smiled, stood up briefly and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, Kristoff, my love. I love you too.”
They looked at each other in love for a while, and Anna actually forgot her worries about it. Eventually, he nodded with a smile and turned around again. She herself leaned back and closed her eyes. Maybe she could get some sleep after all; she thought.
~~~
They had not yet completed a third of the way home when Kristoff saw a covered wagon approaching in front of him at some distance. He turned around and pointed it out to the others.
“Wake up, folks! Look who's coming.”
Anna and Elsa startled up, then stretched their heads and looked ahead while Olaf climbed forward beside Kristoff. “Mattias is here!” he exclaimed excitedly and pointed forward.
“They were pretty fast, though,” Anna murmured and rubbed her stiff neck because she had dozed off in an uncomfortable position.
“You haven't told me much about him,” Elsa replied without looking at her. “Except that he rode back specially to get help for me.”
Anna looked at her smiling. “The General is one of the most loyal people I know, and a fine fellow too. You'll like him.”
Elsa nodded, “I'm already very curious about him.”
A few minutes later the two vehicles, standing now directly opposite each other, stopped. The two drivers sitting on the coach box looked quite surprised. Mattias rode past them and jumped briskly out of the saddle when he was next to Anna.
“Your Majesty!” he shouted joyfully and bowed to Anna, who was now standing up at the back of the wagon. “You guys are already on your way back so soon, then I presume your sister's doing well again?” He peered past Anna to have a look at Elsa. Elsa bent over, looked past Anna and waved at the General with her arm half raised. “Hello, General Mattias.” She smiled at him and mustered his appearance with quick glances without seeming immediately curious.
Trygve and Kristina rose as soon as they saw their queen, smiled and bowed to her while reciting the usual greeting. Anna nodded to them in a friendly manner, but suddenly her worries came back to her mind and her face darkened.
“I am very happy that you are feeling better, Elsa,” said Mattias and returned her smile. Then he looked up at Anna again and his smile faded when he noticed her concern in her face. “Queen Anna, are you alright? Has something happened?”
She nodded, sat down again to be largely at his eye level and said, “Unfortunately, yes, General. We were informed by Honeymaren of a serious threat and had to flee in haste. Someone is trying to kill us.”
Mattias tore open his eyes and gasped, “What? Who? Please tell me everything!” Anna explained in short words what she knew, and his face successively expressed his moods, from amazement to serious concern to clear anger.
“The Council must be informed immediately, and the garrison put on high alert. This can't be true!” He clenched his fists and turned to the covered wagon. “Turn the cart around immediately. We must return as quickly as possible. We are in imminent danger.”
Trygve's and Kristina's jaws dropped and they stared first at him and then at each other in disbelief. Kristina finally nodded and jumped off the trestle. The trail wasn't too wide here so she took the horse by the harness and pulled it slowly around to realign the cart. Then she got back on and waited for Mattias to would ride ahead of them to set the pace. She looked at Trygve with concern and he put a hand on her arm reassuring her.
“Your Majesty, if you agree, we will refrain from equipping Elsa with the camouflage clothes we brought with us, because of the hurry. We yet could also do that shortly before Arendelle.”
Anna nodded and looked briefly behind her. “I think you are right about this, Mattias. We are still near the Northuldra area, so we should hurry.” She gave her sister a quick sideways glance and squeezed her hand before looking at Mattias again. “But we are not yet returning to Arendelle. We have to make a little detour first.”
Mattias raised his eyebrows questioningly. “A detour? Where to?”
Anna bent over to him, looked at him with big eyes and replied quietly, “To the trolls, Mattias, to the trolls.”
The general's jaw dropped and he couldn't say anything more. The day had started so beautifully, and from one moment to the next, everything turned into a nightmare. Trolls ... this can't be true; he thought, and shook his head in disbelief.
~~~
He could have taken her to Gyda. Instead, he chose his hiding place by the river. He preferred not to take any risks and Honeymaren as a hostage was very valuable, even in two ways; he thought, when he recalled the scene on the beach with her and that Arendelle bitch. He grinned as he nudged the young woman in front of him to make her hurry up.
“Faster! Don't dally like that.”
She took a quick look over her shoulder, both angry and anxious. Her hands were tied behind her back and she almost tripped forward when her attention was briefly diverted. But she caught herself in time.
“Don't try any tricks,” he said in a low but threatening voice. She nodded, but didn't say a word. That's good; Kolgrimr thought, as long as she was afraid it was easier to keep her at bay. Less work and more time to make new plans.
He couldn't get that boy out of his head, that brave little guy and brother of his captive. How could it be that he had not sensed the slightest thing, not even when he had actively and intensely tried; he thought. It was almost as if a ghost apparition had stood before him. He gritted his teeth and clenched a fist. That was not good by any means. Not at all. Even with this strong-willed half breed from Arendelle, he was able to get to her spirit with a bit effort. But with him? There was absolutely nothing. Nothing at all. And that worried him immensely.
~~~
At nightfall they reached a small, well hidden kota. Light fog was in the air and a soft splash told Honeymaren that they had to be near a river. She also knew roughly in which direction they had gone, although she herself had never been in this part of the forest. Then she suddenly became aware of exactly where they were and she drew in the air sharply. The home of the earth giants!
She looked around briefly to Kolgrimr and he just nodded wordlessly in the direction of the kota. She walked to the entrance and stopped in front of it. He reached past her, pulled the flap open and pushed her in roughly, so that she fell to the bare ground inside. Then the flap closed again and she was sitting in the dark. She heard him tie the loop of the flap to the outside of the hut, then it was quiet.
She tried to spot something inside the kota, but all she saw was a pale shimmer in the opening above her. She tugged at her shackles but Kolgrimr had been very meticulous and she could not loosen them. If only she had her knife now, which she always carried hanging by her side; she thought. But he had taken it from her, of course.
She struggled herself up into a sitting position, crawled around and systematically searched the floor, hoping to find something useful. But there was nothing, not even a fur, that usually came with every good kota equipment. All right; she thought, let's try the walls. She stood up and moved along the wall with her shoulder as long until she felt like she had reached the starting point again. With her head she had also cautiously checked the wall in addition. But there was no hook and certainly not anything hanging to it to discover. She sighed unnerved and stayed stood leaning against the sloping wall for a while.
What was he up to? What would he do with her? Would he use brute force? Most likely, the way she judged him. She wasn't usually the frightened type, but she felt her eyes get wet and soon after that tears started to flow again. She sobbed softly and finally sank back to the floor. There was no escape for her, it seemed. She decided not to exchange a single word with him. She would remain mute. Even if he should slap her, he wouldn't get anything out of her.
The minutes passed in the silence of the darkness and the minutes became hours. It already had to be in the middle of the night when the rain started. At first she could only hear the soft sound the drops made as they dripped down onto the kota from the branches of the tree above. But it didn't take long and the sporadic dripping turned into a steady hissing as the sky finally opened its sluices completely.
The monotonous noise sounded very calming and soon it made her very tired. So she curled up on the uncomfortable, hard floor and fell gratefully asleep shortly afterwards.
