Über Tim Wiese, Patrick Owomoyela, Claudio Miguel Pizarro Bosio, Torsten Frings, Frank Baumann, Clemens Fritz, Johan Micoud, Miroslav Josef „Miro“ Klose, Diego Ribas da Cunha, Jurica Vranješ, Peter Niemeyer, Tim Borowski, Leon Andreasen, Aaron Hunt, Mohamed Zidan, Nils Markus Rosenberg, Hugo Miguel Pereira de Almeida, Ivan Klasnić, Per Mertesacker, Ronaldo Aparecido Rodrigues, Petri Pasanen, Frank Fahrenhorst, Pierre Womé, Andreas Reinke, Felix Wiedwald, Christian Vander u.v.m. UEFA-Cupfinalist in Istanbul gegen Donezk 1-2 n.V. 2010 wieder DFB-Pokalfinalist gegen Bayern München. Fünfmal 2006-2011 die Champions League gespielt. UEFA Cup Halbfinalist 2006. Ligapokalsieg 2006 gegen Bayern München. Supercupsieger gegen Al Ain 2010.

The character John was made by John Gilkey and named after him, but was then played by an actor by the name of Mark Ward who took over the role from 1999 onwards. The character was then renamed to Mark.
AND FRITZ was originally known as Karl, after his original actor Karl Baumann and was renamed to Fritz once Matthew Baker took over the role. He was then known as Target thereafter.
The music track playing during the Diabolo performance is Enfants d'Acier which means children of steel which is really cool because their outfits kinda make them look like they're made of metal even though diabolos are typically made of plastic - ALSO diabolos originate from China and were originally known as the Chinese Yo-Yo. They were invented over 2000 years ago and their origins are honestly kinda foggy.
Quidam's first act is the German Wheel and tbh I don't have any fun facts about that other than IT LOOKS SICK AS FUCK
Autistic infodump time

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK I LOVE QUIDAM I LOVE QUIDAM SO FUCKING MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA YOU HAVE NO IDEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAA
LOOK!
AT!
HIMB!!!!!!!!
FAVOURITE #1 GUY OF ALL TIME LOOK AT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
QUIDAM (the show) IS SO FUCKING COOL IT HAS ALTERED MY BRAIN CHEMISTRY I SWEAR TO YOUUUUUUUUUUU
It's got such an awesome sinister atmosphere like "there is something fundamentally Wrong about this world" and the music shows that, the music is slow and sinister and orchestral and has so many drums and that alone would make you think "this is a dangerous world" but at the same time there's just something that makes you feel at ease
Like yeah all the conscious signals are saying this is really disturbing and wrong but all the unconscious signals are saying this is a good and safe place and everyone in it is ctually really nice
BUT I MEAN LOOK. THE TITULAR CHARACTER IS A HEADLESS MAN. IN WHAT WORLD IS THAT NOT OBJECTIVELY CREEPY.
And there are so many openly weird and sinister things about the world and the people in it so WHYYYYYYY does the character wiki specifically call out JOHN as being the creepy one???? If anything he's the biggest and most open sweetheart of everyone there!!! SO WHY is he the only character who's explicitly described as "eerie"?????
Also Fritz!!! That guy!!! Fucking love him!!! Is he supposed to be similar to the Chiennes Blanches??? I mean??? Base white colour??? Animalistic behaviour??? Frankly that's all I've got but EVEN SO. Is that just me???????
AND QUIDAM (the character). ONLY APPEARS ON STAGE THREE TIMES. ALREADY LOVE HIM TO ABSOLUTE BITS AND PIECES. EVEN THOUGH HE IS OBJECTIVELY THE CREEPIEST THING IN THE SHOW. BUT HE DOES NOT SCARE ME. SOMEHOW.
I CANNOT GET OUT IN WORDS JUST HOW MUCH I LOVE QUIDAM I MEAN GGHWLFBAKFKWFKQGDOQVDLWVSKDHIR

Fritz Baumann
Fritz Baumann was a Swiss painter best known for his expressionist work, even though he also made paintings in other styles. Most of his work is lost as he destroyed them by throwing them in the Rhine during a depressive phase.

just some thoughts on Witches & Brides in Rgu
I’ve been reading up on folk horror & witches and it just popped into my head the theme of witches in Revolutionary Girl Utena...
Witchcraft has always been associated with the feminine & superstition, whereas science & reason is the domain of men... introducing witchcraft into RGU further reinforces the oppressive structure of the patriarchy, because historically, witchcraft and witches have always been associated with the estranged, the disenfranchised, and the seemingly weak.
Throughout film & media history, there’s this pervasive theme of how women who are witches will, rather than trying to use their powers to make themselves powerful, instead use it to reinforce the power of the men in their lives. Titles such as “How to Become a Sensuous Witch”(1971) and “The Do-It Yourself Witchcraft Guide”(1971) “provided instructions to cast spells, brew love potions, develop sex appeal, enchant the opposite sex, manipulate bosses ... But, for all of the promise of independence, women’s liberation, and feminine power offered by these books, in the end their domestic charms are still calculated to catching, holding, and pleasing men.” (Rebecca Baumann, in Domestic Charms, The Evolution of the Witch Wife, Hellebore No. 3: The Malefice Issue)
In Fritz Leiber’s Conjure Wife, Tansy, the witch wife, as well as the three other witch women in the novel (who are all referred to by their husband’s names e.g. Mrs. Gunnison, Mrs. Sawtelle, and Mrs. Carr) all use their magical powers for the benefit of their husbands. Fritz Leiber describes Carl Jung’s concept of the anima as “[M]an’s female component, forever dwelling in him, yet never at one with him,[...] the ‘eternal feminine,’ a cruel and jealous goddess...” and illustrates this very concept of the “anima” in Conjure Wife, with Tansy the witch wife.
Similarly, in RGU, Anthy, who is a witch, helps akio in furthering the duels in order for him to gain back his princehood (this isn’t because she wants to, but a circumstance of a witch, or a woman, living under patriarchy.)
However, both in RGU and in Conjure Wife, it is revealed that the power these men hold is just an illusion, one that would fall apart without the help of their brides. When Tansy’s husband Norman, discovers she’s a witch, he forces her to burn all of her charms and renounce her craft. What happens next? His professional career starts to crumble as he is accused of sexual assault, loses his chairmanship, accused of plagiarism, and is almost hit by a truck (all in all, he’s been cursed, and it’s evident that these were the consequences of betraying Tansy’s witchcraft.) In RGU, without his rose bride, akio can never be a prince again, and when Anthy decides to leave, the illusory power structures that held Ohtori together begin to fade.
Witches draw power from the Other, from the Unknown, and those who seek to maintain the status quo will always fear and dread this source. Anthy being a witch and a bride is significant, because to be a bride is to be close to the groom, and to be a witch is to be what men fear most.
#revolutionary girl utena#rgu#sku#conjure wife#witches#just me talking#just thinking about the Other and frankenstein and horror and the power of subversion and homosexuality and love#that monsters and witches are powerful and threatening to men in power and how we should embrace them for this very reason#this is very niche i understand but hopefully those ppl who like rgu will find this interesting??#anyways most of this info is from that article mentioned above i just kind of like. wanted to tie it into RGUs themes and shit

expo2001∞
Friday, May 25, 2018, 6 PM - Saturday, June 2, 2018, 11pm
-press text- Opening May 25 201∞ at eighteen hours CET Open by appointment for ∞ days until the Closing event on June 02 201∞, also from eighteen hours CET **deutsch weiter unten** Argh! presents expo2001∞ a swarm hive-mind open-ended futurist congress, a group show turned shrunk scale world(s) exposition, opening May 25 201∞. The invited artists/architects/musicians have been asked to each create contributions based on their own vision/worries/thoughts/critiques of+on (concepts of "the") "future". Each of these contributions will be presented in the frame of a particular, concept-roofing pavilion. For the opening, a programme of performances is planned. Stay tuned for a collaborative fanzine publication to be produced during the expo and due to be released upon the closing night on June 02. During the research for this year's world expo, certain patterns of already formulated strains of pre-packaged institutionalised vision became evident: The corporate/tech complex and big media telling overwhelming and inevitable narratives of technological evolution and apocalypses, while omnipresent historical luggage of previous visions, retro-futurisms if you like, tend to block or at least blur our ability to think and formulate fresh. In Mézières & Christin's 1978 CE Valérian and Laureline sci-fi comic Les Héros de l'Equinoxe, Galaxity/Earth tempo-spacial agent Valérian enters a competition against three other alien "heroes" to re-populate Simlane, an infertile dying planet. All four succeed passing the first two physical challenges. Upon presenting their visions for the future generation, marking the third challenge, Valérian, who is in a mental haze after having barely just made it this far, cannot invision what the future should look like. Unlike his outspoken and ideologically distinct competitors, he leaves the field open for the coming generation, "as long as they will become happy". Because of this answer, he is declared winner of the competition. (Critique worthy) fertility-fantasies aside, the aim of expo2001∞ is not to ask the invited participants about future happiness. Instead, by taking the open outcome approach of Valérian's inner nebula as a starting point, everyone is invited to figure out themselves what to contribute, in a dialogual process leading up to the opening night of May 25th. From a curatorial point of view this may bear risks - and this experimental growth approach is deliberate: Not to plan the future, but to improvise it, in/dependently and in exchange. By the time of writing, the contributing pavilions thematically dip into areas such as architecture-as-organism, insect architecture, reverse process archaeology, local debris futurology, human/interspecies cyborgism, post-humanism, future as a resource, future ruins, radio waves, ideological obituaries, alien linguistics, climate turmoil surrealism, gardening, the fleeting ungraspable and proto-sci-fi re-tellings. Pavilion contributors include: Alessandro Rauschmann burgund t brandt Carla Størup Christina Gay Daniel Kupferberg Dirk Sorge DJ Shlucht Eero Yli-Vakkuri Fritz Bornstück James Edmonds Jan Deyrieux John MacLean Kathrin Köster Mondrian Fan Club Nicolas Humbert Petra Graf Sandra Krause Gómez Taher N. Ghallab Theda Weber-Lucks & Franz Schimmel Thomas Heidtmann termites Ulla Jösch Viktor Baumann Vincent Grunwald Yan Gi Cheng Initial concept+coordination: Daniel Kupferberg Argh! is an artist-run space in Berlin-Schillerkiez Selchower Str. 12, easily reachable via U8 Boddinstr. See also argh15.tumblr.com To visit the expo during the week please contact +49-1772485338. Leiber where you least expected him
Leiber where you least expected him
I was pleasantly surprised in discovering that the latest issue of Hellebore, the magazine of folklore and ancient terrors, features a lengthy and quite interesting piece on Fritz Leiber’s Conjure Wife, its real-world influences and its long-lasting legacy. The article was penned by Rebecca Baumann.
And I already like this magazine A LOT, but now I have even more reasons to recommend it. I…

Yes, I know, there aren’t a lot of women on this list. It is sadly super difficult to both make a list with well known artist and to make it diverse. I am open to suggestions for more artists and more categories. It is obviously difficult in some cases to exactly define the “category” an artist is in, especially when it comes to modern art, as many artists made different works during their lifetime. Categories marked with an “XXX” are there as a filler and aren’t relevant. The order of these is also up to debate, they are roughly chronological in the beginning but not anymore in the end.
---- This is the final list, I won’t make any changes anymore, except moving the different artists into other categories if I see it fit ----
